I love the change.
I have one question though. The healing part. Does that also apply to teammates? Say I am pulled off the hook and someone attempts to heal me. The killer comes back. Did my teammate just remove my DS for me? Or does DS only deactivate if I try to heal myself?

Nvm. Found it.

I personally like that DS doesn't deactivate in a locker...it gives the killer a choice, plus it means that survivors who are aggressively tunnelled will have a chance, instead of just being slugged. The killer can wait it out, risk Head On, or choose to pressurise gens in that time instead of actively focusing one survivor.

I think DS deactivating on healing is a bit rough, considering that healing is the action that generally comes after the unhook
I like the changes proposed so far but yes that sounds like an issue. Now does that mean someone unhooks you and if they start healing you DS deactivates? Or does it mean you get unhooked and if you start healing yourself DS turns off? If teammates healing you does not turn off DS I think that sounds fair. I can picture a ######### teammate saving you, touching you to turn off your DS then running away.

I feel it's definitely a step forward.

I'm relatively new to the game, and I like playing killer exclusively, but it can definitely taxing. Generally speaking the BM from survivors can be irritating, and also getting matchmade with people that are leaps and bounds ahead of me rank wise and playing together can lead to some games where I feel less like a killer chasing them and more like the person being chased. I know there's a bit of a killer shortage, but it can definitely be rough when I'm trying to learn the game with 0 perks / addons and getting dunked on by 4 man premade SWFs that are in the upper ranks.
That's another reason why I feel the killer side of the community is pushed aside. If a SWF of 1k hours each is waiting 10 mins for a match then a new killer player is "expected" to have a terrible experience for the greater good.

Yes. The console version is awful and in desperate need of upgrades. I bought the game for my nephew's xbox and he can barely play it on that platform. But hey, new UI system :P

I would start playing killer if they introduced the early game mechanic they mentioned a feew months back. Im a survivor main who only plays killer due to the rift challenges and even before the match starts i'm anxious as hell.
It's hasn't been a few months. It's been at least a year since that was announced. I feel most killers who lack mobility could really use that.
-
I tend to use map offerings because I want to get rid of them before presteging. If I'm trapper I'll use haddionfield offerings because I love trapping those rooftops. If I'm running a stealth killer I'll use offerings to lerys or the game. Other than that I don't really use them. I almost never use swamp offerings unless I'm in a swf with a particular friend who absolutely hates that map /kefka laugh

Without going so far as to flee the lobby, it would at least allow me to prepare myself mentally, haha. And above all to prepare my killer accordingly.
I wouldn't mind being told it's a swf "after" the match ended. So I don't feel as bad if I got crushed,
-
@Epsydra said:
Honestly, just knowing the rank of survivors in the lobby (like before) and being warned when I'm facing a SWF would already make the game more enjoyable.
I admit it would be enjoyable but let's be honest. If we could see were about to face a 4 man swf, we would lobby dodge lol

Sorry for the late reply - uhhh I am not a survivor main. I don't need Ruin+Undying for gen/map control. I main The Doctor...and the only gen perk I use is Overcharge. I have thought about trying him out with Oppression, but I don't have issues with my current build. Do I 4k every match?? Nope - but then again I shouldn't 4k every match because that would mean there is some serious balance issues. I also don't need to 4k every round to reap BP. I easily make 1 million BP in 3-3.5 hours depending on the time of day. Then again I also like a challenge and don't think either side should be easy to "win."
As a survivor I don't really care if people have Ruin + Undying - I mean it's easy to counter; much like NOED - just cleanse totems. As a survivor I check a gen at beginning of match - if there is Ruin I find the Hex... if it's still up then I take 2 minutes and go cleanse the rest of the totems while everyone else does their thing. I just find it hilarious how much of a crutch the combo has become for people to "win." Of all my friends who main killer - NONE - of them use this combo because 1. They knew it was OP and would be nerfed and 2. They don't need it to do well.
I main trapper and I need some form of slow down because my killer requires time to setup. Or his power is useless. I go with corrupt intervention because it only requires 1 perk. I too feel I don't need to 4k every match to have fun and I want the game to be challenging for both sides. Which is why I feel survivors have too many strong perks. You try not to be bias but honestly I feel one side is too powerful and the other gets patched pretty damn quick by comparison.

I don't want to play the "survivor bugs seem to be fixed instantly card", but its so disheartening to see bugs and sound going neglected for so long but content is still pushed every 3 months. I'd pay a DLC price for a health chapter at this point xD
I'm the same. I "try" not to be bias but the devs make it really hard not too sometimes.

If they immediately come back to the hook the second the unhook notification goes off and proceed to down the same survivor? Yes.
Your incorrect. If the killer hooked someone and goes to to a gen to find someone else they are not tunneling. If the save is made the killer knows at least 2 people are at the hook. What do you expect the killer to do at that point? There is no one else to chase and they know 2 people are over there. The killer shouldn't give up a chase in the hopes he might find someone else. Your answer is more survivor rule book bs.

I feel the game improves and degrades at the same time. For every good thing they change they make 6 other things worse. It attracts a lot of new players to give off the illusion the game is healthy but the game retains very little. Once they learn the awful MM and steep learning curve, most bail. I forget which streamer said this but they described dbd as a revolving door. New players coming in and veteran players going out because they are tired of the bull#@$%. That's pretty much how I feel about the game.
-
I'm still waiting for them to fix the Nurse bugs introduced in her rework over a year ago. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say "No, there are no plans to fix audio"
-
I made friends playing Evolve Stage 2. When that game shut down(Damn you 2k) I kept in touch with some of the people I met on that game. One of them suggested DBD way back before all the drama. I learned to play survivor through SWF. I learned to play killer by getting my ass kicked over and over until I learned how to win.

boohoo you can't juke a Nurse
get good
She can't be looped but trust me. She can be juked. I know because plenty of survivors have been able to do it to my Nurse.

I don't think Bubba is the worst killer out there. I don't think any particular killer is the worst. Although most toxic players tend to have some favorites and this gives said killer a bad rep.
The majority of face campers I see are playing bubba. So people have a bad opinion about bubba. I personally hate the Wraith players that hook someone, cloak and wait right there until the save is made. That doesn't mean Wraith is a bad killer to go against.

Things we haven't seen yet:
-Climbing
-Something that travels underground
-Killer who controls the lighting or fog
-Tranforming killer (into survivors or objects)
-Tiny killer (think like chucky) Victor is similar but not the sole killer, he's only a part.
-Killer who changes the map (IE can create impassable walls) Like a killer that controls ice and could build temporary ice walls to block loops or parts of the map temporarily.
"-Tranforming killer (into survivors or objects)"
Over the years there have been a few threads about a shape shifting killer. John Carpenter's The Thing comes to mind. I think that would be really cool if they could make that viable. The problem I see with a killer that can turn into survivors is headsets would 100% counter that. If the killer could turn into objects the issue I think is the waiting. As killer you don't have time to waste and waiting for something to come to you isn't as effective as hunting for survivors.

@NoOneKnowsNova said:
She is one of the easiest killers to play and one of the best too. Her chase power for the most part is a guessing game, and while this would be fine if it was in neither of the sides favour, it is heavily in the side of the killer, meaning that chases end quickly. Her counterplay is to play stealthy and most people don’t enjoy that kind of playstyle, and even then, if the killer is running stridor, that stealthy style is for the most part, ineffective.
I don't find her easy. I suck when playing as Spirit and I play as Nurse.
@Blueberry said:
They hate her because they don't understand how to play against her. Instead of learning they find it easier to come here and complain.
That's pretty much every killer. The issue is survivors don't want to learn. Even big time streamers like Tru and Otz have said "Just because a killer downs you does not mean they are OP"

Also in my opinion the game is far from dying. New players all the time.. some come and go but the game is still thriving.
Fresh meat for the grinder. They attract a lot of new players but their retention is crap. Once people get in here and see how awful the MM is and how steep is the learning curve. Most bail.

Freddy is absolutely not one of the worst killers. He isn't OP, I agree, but he is incredibly easy to play for how strong he is.
I think the REAL problem in this game is sooooo many people don't realize they suck. This game is far from perfect but most of the time an issue can be solved by git gud instead of asking the devs to intervene every single time you lose. When people lose instead of asking themselves "How can I improve?" or "What I else I could have done?". They are quick to say "This killer downed me. Therefore he must be OP!"
Every single time a new killer comes out people say they are OP before they even hit the PTB. Freddy is a prime example of a knee jerk reaction. When he first got here, before his rework, he was terrible. The devs nerfed him anyway because so many people said he was OP. Truth was they didn't know how to play against him. Once they learned they realized Freddy was super weak. They never reversed his nerf and it took them 2 years to rework him. All this could have been avoided if people would stop crying for nerfs without good reason and if we had a balance team that actually plays both sides at high rank.
-
We'll Make It does apply a status to the unhooked so they know you have it. When they added that notification I was very happy for that patch. The issue is randoms. In the words of Ron White

When did they state that? Also I disagree we got Oni Slinger pyramid head and blight who were Amazing killers even though Slinger is not top tier people really hate him and there very strong but I do agree they don’t won’t to make another nurse cause nowadays they would never make a killer like nurse anymore
I remember them saying it in a stream years ago.

@Jarol said:
I say this since I do not want something weak and similar like what happened with Twins and Blight, both are the least seen killers at the same level as Plague.
The devs have stated they are afraid to make strong killers. Even if they do. As soon as word gets out and enough people buy the dlc. They will nerf it.
-
The devs learned to not give clear dates about stuff because if(when) they have to delay it, the community gets pissed. If they post in a thread "Hey, it's gonna be late" people will still #########. So they don't post anything and ship it when it's ready. Or to be more accurate, when they feel it's acceptable(very loose word)

Sometimes I wonder. I’m hiding someplace and the killer come straight towards me immediately after hooking somebody, not even looking at more obvious hiding spots. I assume he’s running whispers or some other aura sensing perk or add on and to my surprise he is running absolutely nothing of the sort. Makes me suspicious but nothing really to prove it.
I haven't really played the game since the shutdowns. In the 4 years I've had the game I've only run into 2 people who were clearly hacking. However I too have had situations like this happen a few times. A killer hooks someone and immediately moves in the direction of another survivor. As if they had BBQ yet they had zero tracking perks. It could be coincidence but it happened every single time the killer hooked someone. I've seen a lot of suspicious stuff in DBD but not enough evidence to file a report. I've been accused of hacking several times when I play killer so I know how rampant the accusers can be. However there are times when blind luck just doesn't happen that often.

One match I was in a swf against a bubba. This was before his rework. Bubba was chasing me around a rock with a pallet. He revs his chainsaw and starts sprinting at me. I seriously thought he was going to get me but somehow I dropped the pallet at the right timing to stun him without him breaking the pallet. Then he DCed. I imagine he was not happy.
As Trapper. A flashlight clicking, teabagging douche wanted me to chase him. So I obliged. He failed a mind game and I hooked him. Someone saved him and he made it his lives mission to pursue me. He came to me and flashlight clicked teabagged again. He failed another mind game and I picked him up. He DSed me. As I was still stunned he vaulted a window and stepped in a trap. I picked him up and he DC'ed :P

$$$ for the minimum effort.
This is why another developer needs to make a similar game so there is actually competition. If there was another game like DBD that was well designed the amount of people migrating to that game would be massive. Management at BHVR would start making crunch time mandatory to try to get the player basis back because DBD is all they got. They tried making Death Garden and that flopped for some reason. If DBD goes BHVR pretty much goes with it.
-
I find if the game is practically over. Like 1-2 people are on a hook and the rest are slugged. It definitely feels like your odds of Kobe go up.
-
IMO. If BHVR wasn't going to make the console version work as well as PC then they shouldn't have even released it on console.
-
Keep nerfing killers. I'll see you in civ 6 when you quit dbd because you can't find a game.
-
Depends on the manner of the dc.
- If it was dc just as the match loads in, I feel bad.
- If 2 people DC I feel bad for the 2 remaining.
- If it's dc the moment they find out which killer I am, don't feel bad.
- If someone dc'ed because they got hit first, I dont feel bad.
- If someone dced because they failed a mind game. dont feel bad
- If they dced because they landed their DS and got caught again. Dont feel bad
If it was a genuine DC I feel bad but if I feel it was deliberate in any way. I do not go easy. In fact I try even harder. So when they complain in the end game chat I tell them to file a report against the quitter because they were the ones who screwed you.
