Q&Q, DWM and Lithe. Though if I run all 3 I am hoping that I find a good vault when I am being chased.
-
Trapper is my main. Nurse is my 2nd. After that it's a mix of Huntress, GF, Demo and PH.

I'd throw PainReliever in the same category as Otz, but as a Survivor Main.
Id also throw TydeTyme in there but he took a long break from DBD.
-
ALL killers are in survivors sights. Just some more than others.
-
DS real counter part is ruin? Is there some object killer can break 20 secs in the match that removes your DS for the rest of the game?
-
You have the means to get rid of it. You just don't do it. Personally you can take NOED away from me for all I care. I don't really use it. Id rather try to get kills before the EGC.
-
The ones that hide while I kill the 3rd survivor, find the hatch, make a lot of noise to draw my attention so I can see them teabag as they jump in the hatch.
To that type of survivor. Do you want a medal or something? All you did was hide until your team was found. You didn't out play me. The only reason you even got the hatch is because I didn't feel like slugging.

I still think locker ds is bullshit
I thought the same at first but then I realized I will hardly ever run into that situation. Just let me point out, I wipe my @ss with the survivors rule book. If it is in my best interest I will tunnel, camp, mori or any other dirty trick that doesn't result in a ban. Having said that, the only time I chase the person I just hooked is there is no one else.
If I see 2 survivors and one is injured. I will go after the injured one because it's a quicker chase.
If I see the same scenario but I suspect the injured has BT and/or DS then I will go for the person who made the rescue.
The only time I go after the person I just hooked is I ran into them by chance or someone saved them and sneaked away. I come back to the hook looking for the rescuer. I can't find them but I see the injured's blood trail. I consider that team induced tunneling because there is no one else for me to go after and passing up this opportunity hurts my objective.
-
I would not run ruin with intervention. 1 or the other. PGTW you could mix with one if you want. Ruin+Undying reminds me of Ruin+TOTH. Your basically double downing on 1 perk. It might last longer but when they get rid of it, your down 2 perks instead of one. I don't like putting too much investment into gen slow downs. I want at least 1 but I also want something to help my tracking. I also want something to help me down survivors such as STBFL, Spirit Fury, Enduring ect.

I usually stomp survivors with Trapper on Haddonfield. Sometimes i have trouble against coordinated teams, but I love that map playing both sides.
Same. Trapper can have some fun on that map but as any other killer. I don't like it.

Who is asking for "compensation"?
I am simply bringing up an issue directly tied to what DS was already suppose to be countering that it isn't.
DS is losing some power. Yes. However it will still function to counter tunneling. You just won't be able to use it offensively anymore. When ruin got reworked, what did killers get? Nothing. Did Nurse or Billy get any buffs when they were pimp slapped with a cd? No. When Moris got changed did killer get anything to compensate? Nope. When Undying lost some of it's power did killer get something in return? No. Every time they nerf something you don't need a buff to counter act the nerf. DS will still be meta after this change. Unlike some other perks I can mention that were garbage after their changes. Old MoM being the prime example. That had to be changed because it was broken but they could have done a better job. Now it's practically useless. DS will not be useless after this change.
DS is being adjusted so your asking for something else to counter tunneling and camping?
Learn to loop?
Bring BT?
Do gens?

I think she IS in the trailer. Also, why would the devs hate a character they created?
Because she is the most powerful killer in the game. Her only offset is her high skill ceiling makes her less likely to be used. I honestly think they don't want to fix her bugs for fear of her pick rate going up. Then they would have to rework her and if they touch her basekit again she will probably fall into the useless category.
-
I like the idea because holding M1 is boring but I think it would cause more harm than good. New players would complain and the devs cater to them. The bigger issue I see is stealth killers. If your focused on a minigame, your not moving your camera to see if someone is sneaking up on you. Myers, GF, Pig, anyone running Tinkerer would get a lot of free grabs.

This isn't necessarily true and is one of the reasons I have issues with the new DS. A lot of the people are under the assumption that tunneling is only possible when camping. The killer can decide to not camp and still tunnel you out of the game and the DS changes are going to make this very easy to do so.
For example:
Survivor A is a weak looper and goes down and gets hooked. Killer leaves to go down Survivor B. As Survivor B is being hooked Survivor A is unhooked by Survivor C and figures since they can't hear the killer's terror radius they are OK to start working on a generator. Seconds later the killer shows up and sees both Survivors A and C. Knowing that Survivor A has touched a gen and is a weaker looper the killer chases them without fear of DS and places them back on the hook. This can all be done in less than 30 seconds by the way. DS will still counter hard tunneling, but its going to encourage a different type of tunneling even more and I worry for weaker survivors that rely on DS to keep them in the game. And if they want to ensure that they don't get tunneled they have to basically take themselves out of the game for 60 seconds which is not healthy gameplay.
My issue with DS is almost the same as your example but one big difference.
"Survivor A is a weak looper and goes down and gets hooked. Killer leaves to go down Survivor B. As Survivor B is being hooked Survivor A is unhooked by Survivor C and figures since they can't hear the killer's terror radius they are OK"
Survivor B is hooked. Survivor A unhooks B right in the killers face. The killer assumes survivor B has DS+BT so they go after survivor A. Survivor A still has DS. In that situations it doesn't matter who the killer picks. Both are a waste of their time. The killer wasn't tunneling and they still get punished by DS. Slugging was also a waste if they brought UB. That was the problem I had with DS and I am glad that will no longer be a problem.
As for your example.
"Survivor A is a weak looper and goes down and gets hooked. Killer leaves to go down Survivor B. As Survivor B is being hooked Survivor A is unhooked by Survivor C and figures since they can't hear the killer's terror radius they are OK to start working on a generator. Seconds later the killer shows up and sees both Survivors A and C. Knowing that Survivor A has touched a gen and is a weaker looper the killer chases them without fear of DS and places them back on the hook."
In that sense yes the killer would go after survivor A because they are injured and know they don't have DS because they touched a gen. However someone already answered that question for me.
@GriffinsMarkGaming said:
All I'm gonna say about the nerf is; IF A SURVIVOR HAD TIME TO DO A GEN, WORK ON A TOTEM OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, THEY AREN'T BEING TUNNELED.
When survivor A was saved by survivor C. C should have healed A instead of being greedy and working on a gen. The change to DS will make it more anti tunnel and less of an offensive weapon. If you get unhooked and you decide to do a gen, you made a choice to forfeit your protection.
-
You do not need compensation every time you receive a nerf.
-
How do you know they are on PC? The globe icon just means they are on a different platform than you. If your on xbox and you see a globe couldn't they be on a Playstation or a Nintendo?
As for DCing itself. It's been around since the game launched. There will always be people who quit for no damn reason other than they are salty. What I hate is when your playing killer, someone rage quits and the remaining 3 get mad at you. It's not the killers fault someone quit. They should be yelling at their teammate that ditched them.
-
I think this is a good change to the game. Unlike some other reworks I can think of, this one won't make the perk useless. They could have taken the old MoM route and gutted the perk so it's no longer useful at all. Instead they actually catered to both sides with the DS change. It will still counter tunneling off the hook but it won't be 60 secs of immunity anymore should you choose to do something.
This is reminding me of when BHVR added exhaustion to the game. People bitched and moaned on the forums but deep down. Most agreed being able to recharge SB while running was not fair. Or when BHVR added the mechanic to block infinites after 3 vaults. Sure people complained because they would have to adjust but these changes improved the game.
-
This is just my opinion and I could be proven wrong when the changes get here. I think the change is good for the entire game and DS will still be a meta perk for survivor. The only thing that will change is survivors won't be able to get away with risky actions anymore. Such as getting unhooked, unhooking someone else and using DS or UB to put the killer in a situation where it is a lose/lose. I also think this will separate the wheat from the chaff. DS has been such an OP perk for years that removing it will reveal who is actually good at survivor and who needs 2nd chance perks to survive.
As far as reworks go, this is looking like one done right. It will still counter killers tunneling off the hook while no longer giving 60 secs of immunity to people who are not being tunneled. Unlike some other perks I can think of that were reworked and became damn near useless. /coughMoMcough

Fine polish? Nurse without doubt. She is the longest running bugged killer. The fact I can guarantee in every single game, I can try a blink that will not work either with the odd double wasted blink that stops you from blinking at all, but does the sound and hand movement of a blink or those blinks that won't go through objects illustrates her inconsistency.
Nurse does need some health patches but I don't think they will ever fix her. She's the most powerful killer in the game and she's only offset by her high skill ceiling and low pick rate. If they fixed her more people would use her. Then survivors would demand nerfs. So fixing her would lead to more work for the devs and I don't think they want to do that.
-
I only P3ed the killers I plan to use. I have all lvled up for their teachables but I only really use 4 or 5. I haven't played since April last year due to similar reasons. I might come back when the DS change gets here.

Ahh, I see. But as someone who doesn’t use either of the perks, I still don’t see how the exposed effect is nerfed.
DS has nothing to do with expose. I was just saying before the DS changes I would have said "You complain 60 secs is too long for expose but DS is still 60 secs?".

Thanks for the information. I am confused though since that perk already exists, but since I do not use it, I don’t know much about it. I thought you can only use it once per game? Is that not true?
You can only use it once per game, yes. The issue is at high ranks almost every survivor brings it. So it's 4 DS's sometimes. The main issue is killers who don't tunnel were getting hit by DS because they were playing well. Often I would hook survivor A and I would leave. Id find and hook survivor B. Survivor A saves B. I don't want to tunnel so I hit survivor A. Survivor A still had DS. No matter who I picked it was a lose/lose situation. I've had this happen to me so many times. I chased, downed and hooked someone else. I wasn't tunneling and yet I still got hit by DS. 60 secs is way too long. It didn't help that the devs nerfed pop goes the weasel to 45 seconds and their reason was "60 secs is too long". People asked "Kinda like DS?" and they never responded. Some survivors flat out repaired gens injured. If the killer grabbed them off the gen they DS. If the killer left them bleeding on the ground to avoid DS, they would revive themselves with Unbreakable. This one perk has been the source of so many discussions since it's introduction 4 years ago. I hope this change will finally balance it without making it useless.

I think its a fair nerf. Still get the anti tunnel, but they can still be healed, can search a chest, open exit gates, use maps and keys, and they can still jump in a locker to make the stun extra long if they know they're gonna get caught
I feel it is also fair. It will still be meta IMO. Unlike when MoM got reworked. Though the forums are filled with people crying about it. The only people who will get butt hurt over this change are the ones who got unhooked and deliberately got in the killer's face because they had DS.

Which upcoming changes?
When it gets here. When you get unhooked. If you repair a gen, heal yourself, cleanse a totem, unhook someone or sabo the hook you will lose your DS. It will still counter tunneling but you can't abuse it anymore. Like if you get unhooked and do a gen in the killer's face, you will lose your DS. You can't get unhooked, save someone and then DS anymore. Lockers still work. You DO NOT lose DS if your team is healing you.

Youre right, that isnt tunneling in that case. But how is the perk better? In what way? From a killer standpoint hell yeah lol But how is the perk even worth using anymore? Its completely useless now. Unless u want to be completely unproductive throughout those 60 seconds.
DS will still be meta. You will still be protected if the killer is tunneling you. If you had enough time to heal you weren't being tunneled. If you decided to not heal and do a gen, cleanse a totem, you weren't being tunneled. This change will not render the perk useless like MoM. In fact it will probably cause a lot of killer players to come back to dbd. Thus improving your que times. When killer gets something taken away they usually get nothing back. Your parents are limiting how much time you can play with it but you still get to keep your toys.
-
The only thing I have against body blocking is when the gates are open, everyone else is at full health and I am trying to secure my only kill. Granted at that point I already lost but I hate how the survivors complain about me tunneling when it is impossible to down someone else before they get out.
I've yet to see someone body block a chainsaw.

I mean if you are being tunnelled you can just...not tap a gen. You have 3 other teammates why are none of them doing something while you are being chased again?
In the survivor mains eyes. 1 survivor should be able to go toe to toe with the killer and be able to win. As if they don't know the definition of asymmetrical game.

No, people will find ways to get around the changes, using it in ways that are albeit more toxic than just 60 seconds of immunity, and force the killers back out again. I don't have to change how I use the perk, and it has made plenty of people DC. Still think its going to fix queue times?
I can't say for certain until the change gets here but I think the amount of DS bull#@!$ will drop considerable. Killers have been asking for something like this for years and it's finally happening. So yes I think there will be a surge in killer players. You shouldn't be complaining. Your meta perk will still be viable and your que times will improve. Your still getting something out of this. When killer gets something nerfed its almost always a 100% negative then were told to bend over and take it. No dinner, no phone number. We don't even get lotion.
-
Sometimes I'll switch it up and bring autodidact. It is nice when you get 5 stacks but randoms DO NOT want you to go anywhere near them until you get at least 3.
-
I think DS will be just fine after this change. It will still be effective against tunneling killers. It's not like when they reworked old MoM.
-
For every 1 survivor that is quitting because DS can no longer be abused. There are 100 killers that are coming back to the game. Looking at your horrendous que times, I say it's acceptable losses.
-
@MrPenguin said:
From what I hear it was cleared up that it only deactivates if you (the person with DS active) starts a healing action yourself (like healing someone else or self-care), not when someone else or a perk/killer power (Second wind/Plague fountains) heals you.
It's a good thing because I can picture some douche bag saving you, touching you to remove your DS then running away.
-
TL:DR
If anything this is going to resuscitate the game. This is a good change for the whole. Like when the exhaustion mechanic was added. Obviously survivors fought that because it took away from them but the game improved as a result. Que times will likely improve because killers might come back. Hell I'm considering returning now.
-
I can't find a link but a dev posted a tweet about this question. No, your teammates healing you will not turn off your DS.
-
@ChurchofPig said:
You realize that you just said exactly what killers have had to deal with the last year. Having to play a certain way because survivors don't like it.
Oh it's been longer than a year we've been dealing with that crap.
-
It's actually common practice. Stuff that can only be unlocked by grinding is put in the store eventually. It's so the people who missed out can get it and the devs can make even more $$$. Which is why I don't like battle passes. You play your heart out for something. Once you get it you don't wanna play the game anymore and a few months later it can be bought in the store. Making all your effort wasted.
-
Any killer can be gen rushed. Survivors that know how to play against a Nurse know to play stealthy when they can and to juke when they are in a chase. You need something slowing down the gens while you look for people.
-
I literally just asked this in another thread.
I hope your teammates healing you doesn't turn it off. If it did I can picture some toxic survivor unhooking you, touching you to remove DS and then running away.
-
@gatsby said:
First of all, I interpret the nerf to only include actions YOU perform. So in regards to healing, you can still be healed, you just can’t heal anyone else without deactivating the perk.
Overall, I think the nerf is smart because it makes Decisive Strike cost the time it can potentially buy. It can greatly extend your chase and time in a match if you get tunneled, but it can also be a massive slowdown to your team due to Decisive users that don’t get tunneled missing out on potentially 120 seconds of generator progress (60 seconds each unhook).
Survivors will have to have good decision making when using it similar to Self-Care. Play the perk right and its super useful. Play the perk wrong and you could cost your team the match. They’ll have to gauge how at risk they are and decide if the gen progress or immortality is worth more.
I do hope they clarify whether or not your teammates healing you shuts off DS. I hope it doesn't. It would be very cruel if someone saves you from a hook, touches you to get rid of your DS then takes off.
Come on. We all know in this game, there are people who would do that.
-
At the end of the day. Always remember to have fun.
