Probably u get a cheater use % of speed boost. If u cant loop 1-2 laps that killer, it might be he's cheating even if he reached tier 3 evil within.

Or he's on 3 stacks of Play With Your Food.

No need to immediately throw the "CHEATER!!!" accusation around.

  • I would say no, they aren't. They might be their home territory as the Entity takes the opportunity to create a new Realm alongside taking in a new Killer, but they can clearly roam the other Realms too.

The Killers aren't in their Realms in-between trials, they wait near the campfire just like the Survivors do, albeit from a distance and observing their future prey.

  • Just want to throw this in: Max Jr. is Billy's official name, not just "what the Wiki came up with". It was revealed in the Artbook, which the Trivia section clearly states.

  • They don't. It's the animations lining up the character models, nothing else.

That's quite fitting actually and I don't mind it.

  • Doing some research usually comes up with an explanation for why something is or isn't a certain way.

The Red Forest is an area of forest around Chernobyl. It was named that way after the reddish colour the pine trees had when they died due to the radiation (you can also look at some Fallout 4 screenshots, the vegetation in the Commonwealth has the same reddish-brown colour).

The Huntress originates from that area, hence why the Realm is named after it.

  • There is a Tutorial for both sides on a small Map with very basic AI for the Killer/the Survivors. I suggest you play it as most of your questions would be answered then.

  • A Generator that is already damaged (sparks flying from it) can't be damaged again.
A Generator that is being worked on can't be damaged.
A Generator without any progress can't be damaged.
A Generator that is fully repaired (lights on) can't be damaged.
Some Generators can only be damaged from a particular side for whatever reason.

I get the same result when using the maths that I used on all the other numbers of my post on your example.

A wrong answer stays wrong, no matter how often you re-calculate it.

Do you know those lights when you enter the basement? That's the Entity. She's not weak to light. The generators are just Her way of keeping the Survivors hopeful, make them believe that they can escape, so that She may feed on their hope.

"Her"? As in, capital H? Is Entity your god or something?

Anyways, just because the French name for Entity was female, it doesn't mean Entity doesn't have a gender. "Entite" sounds like the word Entity, hence why it may have been picked.

Well, She is the goddess of the Fog. In-game, She is everyone's goddess.

So, you are religious? Are you a member of a Entity cult or something?

Entity is not a goddess. THEY are a malevolent being for sure. Who may or may not be fully sapient. Don't honor them with the "goddess" label. Hell, Entity is more of a "it" if anything else.

They/it are a monster who wants to consume our world and does not care at all for anyone who gets involved in its games. You could even say they are a Lovecraftian monster.

I also have no idea what you've smoked when you say "everyone's goddess". None of the Survivors know about the Entity. Killers don't know much either.

If you are referring to offerings, which might not make sense Survivor-side because Baker knows little about the Entity and he's one of the oldest Survivors, then you could be offering them to a malevolent being, not a benevolent angel.

Please escape this Lovecraftian fetish you have. It is very concerning.

The Entity rules over Her Realm (yes, I'm capitalising it just to spite your stuck-up behind) and all beings trapped within. Technically speaking, She is at the very least equivalent to being their Goddess.

And regarding the gender issue: the devs are for the most part French Canadian. French does not have a neutral form of nouns, everything is either male or female in terms of their linguistic gender. 'Entité' is a female noun and the devs have used the English pronoun 'she' multiple times when referring to the Entity on stream.

"Stuck up behind" Are you friends with Orion? It'd explain a bit.

Oh wow, trying to spite me because I'm trying to clear up a misconception. Amazing.

Nope, they are a monster. They created a nightmarish plane of existence. You could say it is their web, or they are the ruler of it.

"French does not have a neutral form of nouns, everything is either male or female in terms of their linguistic gender."

So... you're proving me right then? Because I mention this up above.

Entite, again, sounds like "Entity" when pronounced. And as for the devs using that pronoun... prove it.

And please don't tell me you're going to source the person who said "I think we're doing a pretty good job so far."... I don't think he's considered part of the devs.

Did you hop into this chain because your friend was being called out? It would explain why you didn't know I mentioned the Entite thing already.

I did know you mentioned the Entite thing. I repeated it, because your reasoning and your understanding of the French language is #########.

The devs didn't pick Entity because it "sounded like 'Entité'". They picked the word because it literally is the English translation of the French word.

And no, I'm not proving you right, in fact, I'm proving you wrong. The French name for the Entity, which is the original name, is female, and is what led the devs to call the Entity a 'She/Her' when they spoke of her in English. Pronouns tend to carry over and I'd say that ultimately, the devs' mother tongue gets to decide what is correct.

Currently, it's not my job to find you proof. You made the original claim for her not being a woman and it's still on you to prove that with evidence. I stand in for the official statement/the general consensus and you are the one challenging that: prove me, that the Entity is not female.

Also, apparently your definition of a god is that they must be benevolent (as you keep pointing out that the Entity is a monster). If you think that the Christian god is exclusively benevolent or actually even benevolent in the first case, then you do need to catch up on your bible studies.

    LMAO

I actually remembered about other mythologies, like Loki and Apophis, but I didn't edit my post. Sorry for the mistake.

"I did know you mentioned the Entite thing. I repeated it, because your reasoning and your understanding of the French language is #########."

Jan, I was forming a theory, okay? I was guessing. And regurgitating what I said without adding anything new is somehow going to enlighten me?

"The devs didn't pick Entity because it "sounded like 'Entité'". They picked the word because it literally is the English translation of the French word."

It seems like they are pronounced the same. Hence where my theory came from.

And I swear I've read in this thread or the wiki that gender neutral pronouns don't exist in French. They might have picked that specific pronoun because they were planning a English release.

And... yes? Entite does sound and mean like the word Entity? I'm a bit confused.

"And no, I'm not proving you right, in fact, I'm proving you wrong. The French name for the Entity, which is the original name, is female, and is what led the devs to call the Entity a 'She/Her' when they spoke of her in English. Did a Google search to confirm my beliefs. I really don't think the French language has gender neutral pronouns.

And yes, what "I think we're doing a good job so far" guy and the other girl thinks represents a entire team that is making the lore. Sure.

Community managers are not the devs.

"Currently, it's not my job to find you proof. You made the original claim for her not being a woman and it's still on you to prove that with evidence. I stand in for the official statement/the general consensus and you are the one challenging that: prove me, that the Entity is not female."

ACTUALLY Becky, what I asked you to prove was where the devs specifically used the pronoun "she" when referring to the Entity.

Orion actually indirectly made the claim that the Entity is a she as well by using "She" to refer to the Entity. So they also have that proof as well.

And TBH I think that, with me talking about gender neutral pronouns not existing (correct me if I'm wrong) in French, my original theory is intact.

Since Orion didn't, you might as well submit your own proof for Entity not being female. -shrug-

Baker uses "it" pronouns (which is so much more accurate, I don't want the Entity humanized, it lessens the fear factor) when referring to the Entity. So there's some ingame evidence.

"Also, apparently your definition of a god is that they must be benevolent (as you keep pointing out that the Entity is a monster). If you think that the Christian god is exclusively benevolent or actually even benevolent in the first case, then you do need to catch up on your bible studies."

I admit my mistake, but Entity is so evil, they align more along the lines of a monster. Calling them "god" is giving them too much respect. (And yes, I know evil gods exist. But they are respected for their powers and status nonetheless. Entity deserves nothing.)

And yeah, Christian god sends you to hell if you don't subscribe to his cult. And wants women to be submissive, even in new testament IIRC.
I go to a private Christian school, when I would still attend Bible class and not just do work at home, our programming teacher had us cite a certain verse to read and understand. I read ahead and found another verse just a few sentences down telling women to submit to their husbands.

Why is it so difficult for people to respond to just ONE comment at once? That reply is such a convoluted mess.
  • The best tip for Clown is to NOT play him like the Huntress. Most bad to mediocre Clowns do that, but he doesn't work like her.

The Clown is a herding Killer and is thus best played like the Trapper, but instead of herding the Survivors into traps, you use your bottles to herd them away from places you don't want them or towards places you do want them. Survivors usually try to avoid the smoke, so you can use that to your advantage. And if you throw the bottles with some thought, should they run through the smoke, you should also be able to take advantage of that.

The map is back. Offerings should work as well, but keep in mind that map offerings only increase the chance to get that map, it's not 100%.

But it's 99.99 % if you know the multiplier that the Offering applies. I'd say that's close enough.

And at any rate, this is only true for single Map Realms anyways as the Offerings choose the Realm, not the Map.

  • Reading the News Pop-up is usually a good idea.
  • I'd like that change. They could give those Survivors a green Aura for example.

No I only bash BHVR like this because they have no QA

They do have a QA team and they are very nice people. However, the QA does not have the final word in what goes into a Patch and what doesn't. Their job is to test the game and find bugs. It's usually not their job to fix them or to decide what gets priority over other stuff.

  • A small update to my earlier post (page 1).

I now had to turn down my specs to Low. Low with a GTX 1080. If had to or otherwise I can't play Killer properly with all the fps drops I get. I do hope that doesn't stay and you'll be able to fix it. Optimisation Patch for December? I do hope that wasn't it.

All that would do is make Claudettes and Megs even more common than they already are and kill diversity.

It's not suspicious at all, you people just prefer your flippin' conspiracy theory over understanding what RNG is and how it works.

RNG = Random Number Generator. It generates a number based on an algorithm. There is nothing random about an algorithm...
    So that confirms my conspiracy?

In all seriousness, the Shrine of Secret is a problem as for every new killer there are more perks in circulation, which slowly decreases the intended rate at which you should acquire them.

We saw a similar effect with Bans in League of Legends. Where there were previously about 50-100 champions in circulations they allowed for 6 bans in total, but as more and more champions came about, they increased it to 10 as 6 became problematic.

Although that's an imperfect way of handling the situation too, the perfect way would be to look at the base pool of perks in relationship with the amount of perks shown in the shrine of secrets and keep this ratio as consistent as possible, meaning as more perks are introduced, more perks become available at 1 time in the Shrine.

Would help people like me a lot, who just missed their opportunity to get Pharmacy in week 40 (:

They could also use a pseudo randomness strategy, similar to how HeartStone leaves Legendary cards up to randomness, but ensures that you get a legendary every x amount if you were that unlucky with your RNG.

Sadly these type of things are not a priority.

So you assume that the devs engineered the algorithm to exclude BBQ & Chilli. Do you listen to yourself when you talk?

  • Also, if you people are so desparate for BBQ & Chilli, how about you buy the Cannibal and level him? You would have been far better off already than waiting for it on the Shrine.
  • @DocOctober said:
The Shrine is completely RNG. Stop bitching.

It's still suspicious how BBQ&Chili has never/rarily appeared on it if it is random.
It's one of the mot desired perks, yet it won't show up.

It's not suspicious at all, you people just prefer your flippin' conspiracy theory over understanding what RNG is and how it works.
  • The Shrine is completely RNG. Stop bitching.
  • It's an unintended side-effect of a change done to Chests for the Event.

It is not known if it will remain as a feature or not. The QA devs are aware of it.
  • And walking away from the healing Survivor which has the same result, is no option of course. Typical Survivor.

Kills do not equal fun. I don't care if I get 4 kills. If the game play leading up to that was filled with frustration and anger at how ######### his mechanics are, I want those to improve.

Well fun is subjective isn't it? I don't have fun playing Billy, but I have fun playing as The Legion. I don't have fun playing as the Huntress by I enjoy Michael Myers. I think it's a lot of fun running all around the map, injuring multiple survivors, and playing smart. Just like I think it's fun stalking, and peak a booing out of no where with Michael. Getting 3 to 4 mans in most games in my opinion is a testament to the killers balance regardless of if you think it's fun or not. But hey if you want to make him stronger by complaining about a killer I personally think is just fine go ahead. The community thinks he is trash tier bottom of the barrel garbage, I think he/she is good. That just means when he gets all of those buffs it will make my job even easier. I do however slightly fear that the smallest change to Legion could easily make them overpowered. I still think they should have said his difficulty is hard in game.

The only real buff I'd give Legion is when they injure someone in feral frenzy who already has deep wounds that Legion doesn't stun themself at all. The survivor simply get the sprint burst from the hit and then it's a normal chase again instantly going back to 110% movement speed.

A small minority of people doing well with a weak Killer is no grounds not to buff them, just as a small minority of people doing well with a strong Killer is no grounds to nerf them.

As for suggestions, I gave them long ago directly to the QA team, the perk of having a direct contact with one of their members. I see no need to repeat them here as well and besides, there are already a lot of suggestions floating around the forums that I endorsed.

And fyi, the rank crap you let out is hilarious. Purple ranks don't differ from

I thought more along the lines of "a joke". Whenever he posts something, with very few exceptions, I hope that he isn't being serious. Like that reply mentioned above. "Not there to down them." I'm sorry, but considering his kit, that decision is not justified.

    Hello

Deep wound, in concept, is to create pressure and waste Survivors time, not to down survivors, similar to Reverse Bear Trap.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    ~speechless~

The fact he dodges every uncomfortable question really gives something to understand.

I think we're all jumping the gun a bit.

I mean he's very different, and average at best, but lets not act like he's the very worst killer ever and trash?

    I mean... think about it.

I'm still very much undecided myself. I think he falls in that mid range. Or low mid. Around Pig/Leatherface... somewhere in that.

Again... 4 hours past release... it's tough to say.

What I would do is this...

give him 4.5 ms movement speed. (112%?)

Give his frenzy a slight longer duration by like 3 seconds. I think this really helps it. The design is great... just the core things might be weaker or off a bit.

I love the title, the music... the looks... the map... the perks, the names... the ideas.

We've had nearly 2 weeks of PTB to test him and he hasn't changed much with release as his core short-comings weren't addressed in a significant way.

I think it's fair to give verdicts at this point. We're way past that "it's only been x hours" crap.

You're supposed to strike a survivor and go chasing after another.
That's his entire power in a nutshell. You get punished for trying to down a survivor using his power.
You're ruining the fun for the survivor! You're a tunneler! Bad killer, bad! No killing!

And what the devs of course forgot here: Survivors, especially those on comms, won't stick together against Legion and work separately. In all the games I played as Legion, I landed only 2 chain hits. Ever other time I had Feral Frenzy activated, there was only 1 Survivor in reach of one charge of FF.

  • Oh and don't get me wrong, my games' kill rates ranged anywhere from 1 all the way to 4 kills tonight, in purple ranks. But I can tell you, that I did not enjoy playing a single one of them.

Give him a week. He'll most likely get buffed.

    looks at freddy

The thing is, if you know your way 'round Freddy, he's quite a dangerous Killer. But I don't see that happening with Legion any time soon, if ever.

  • Since Chapter VI (Freddy), the Chapter file names are named alphabetically after a random country. Since those files are accessible on PC, it's quite apparent, not so on console.

  • He isn't?

How the hell are you reading that table?

    Nvm.

    It's probably a typo.

You really need to get off your high horse buddy. All you do is come in, brag about your vast "encyclopedic knowledge, then talk down to everyone with a condescending attitude and make out that nobody is smart enough to understand your superiot intellect.

Good killers don't get looped for 5 gens.

And @Visionmaker was right. Either survivors are all dumb and stupid or they're all elite esports players capable of rushing gens in 90 seconds. You can't have it both ways. Pick one.

I talk down to anyone who's incapable of reading a standard text in plain English and is ignorant of the game.

    Suck it up, buttercup.

    1. SURVIVORS HAVE THE GAME EASY, ALL THEY DO IS LOOP FOR 5 GENS AND ESCAPE

    1. SURVIVORS ARE ALL IDIOTS AND THEY DIE THE MOMENT SOMETHING GOES WRONG

    Pick one.

    Also:

    1. RANK ONE IS FILLED WITH GEN RUSHING SWEATY SWF DEDPIP SQUAD CLAUDETTES WITH META PERKS
    2. RANK DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. RANK ONE SURVIVORS ARE ALL STILL A BUNCH OF USELESS IDIOTS

    Pick one.

I said nothing of the sorts, that's your interpretation of the matter, not mine.

As I already told avariku: you're not very good at understanding a text.

Thank you for your input, but I frankly don't care. It seems the majority of those who posted in here do not understand what my thread is even about.

The main complaint I have is that of Survivor mains bitching about how difficult it has become to survive and blaming that on the Killers becoming stronger. I say that they have no right to use that argument until they stop playing like idiots. If they stop DCing upon being caught for the first time, stop unhooking right in front of the Killer causing the unhooked Survivor to go right back on it and if they start cleansing Totems as to not get downed by NOED and then still find that it is much more difficult to survive than before, then they may complain about strong Killers.

When I play Solo Survivor, and I know it's anecdotal, but I'm sure I'm not the only Solo Survivor who experiences that often, there are too many games in which a truly bad Killer gets 3-4 kills, who should only have gotten 1 at best, but got another 2-3 kills due to the Survivors doing exactly what I just mentioned they should stop doing.

It's skewing the statistics and saying that Killers are OP because they get about 2.5 kills on average is wrong without knowing the context of how those kills were obtained.

Now that seems far more reasonable! I can definitely see where you're coming from now.

Let me know if this is at least mostly accurate:
(Most) Killers currently have to rely on survivors screwing up, and the kill rates are being boosted by bad and carelessly made decisions on the survivor's end. So you're pissed/upset/worried that the devs are going to pass over a lot of the much needed adjustments and boosts for killers that they deserve due to the way you're seeing survivors play and seeing what they are saying in the forums and other media.

From your point of view, many of their problems that they complain about are easily avoided if they used common sense while playing and generally strategized and weighed their options rather than jumping in without thinking and then complaining about it later. You're especially concerned that the devs will continue to nerf killers that are already weakened by previous complaints from survivors in the last few years, rather then making the proper adjustments towards strengthening them. Survivors have the tools and would adapt to stronger killers, but killers can't adapt and are already stretched thin by stronger survivors.

That's precisely my concern. I know that at least the QA devs are aware of Survivors skewing statistics, but the QA doesn't ultimately decide what goes into the live build and what doesn't, they only test stuff and make suggestion based on that.

I have nothing against the design devs, they are doing a good job, but the one gripe I have with them, is that they focus too much on just one side of the "fun" medallion and lately often forget that fun is incredibly subjective and has two sides to it.

    "Frankly i dont care"

    Wow what a toxic attitude.

And as for you line about...

"They have no right to use that line until they stop playing like idiots"

This could easily be applied to killers too. Allowing 1 survivor to loop them for so long then moaning the gens are done. Wasting time chasing the obsession first. Sat camping a hook and not applyingnpressure to other survivors etc

    It works both ways.

It doesn't, but I'm not surprised why you'd think it does.

Did it ever occur to you, that it should not be possible in the first place to loop a Killer for several Generators?

This thread is pretty much bait that we've heard time and again.

Not everyone agrees on what's balanced or what's fun, but everyone wants to have a good time in a game most of us are rather passionate about. What I don't understand is why shade needs to be thrown and continued to be thrown around. People disagree. That's fine. But continuing the frustration and hostility by starting this thread like so many others with nothing to add to the discussion of Dead by Daylight? What even is the point? The original post can be summed up with "tldr; I played a couple games and my team mates were frustrating idiots, so you have no right to complain".

I'm not interested in getting in a fight or argument over nothing but charged (pun intended hah) words, but you must understand that adding to the pile of threads just like this one isn't helping. Especially since you're such an active and long standing member of the DbD community. You've been around, you've been active, you know how to push people's buttons, and this isn't constructive.

I enjoy playing both killer and survivor, I get frustrated at both sides, and I love a good discussion, but this isn't one of them. If you have specific ideas and thoughts on changes or a different viewpoint on mechanics, I'm all for it. I didn't see anything other than frustration and pointing fingers in your main post, and I didn't see much to back up your opinion anyways. This type of thread isn't what's needed.

Thank you for your input, but I frankly don't care. It seems the majority of those who posted in here do not understand what my thread is even about.
