As a Survivor I don't have much to complain about, I suck at Flashlights so I let others do those kinds of saves, I don't use D-Strike because I can't hit that damn skill check and I don't antagonize the killer and force them to chase me unless I'm bored and my fellow Survivors need time to do Gens because they suck. BBQ & Chili is tolerable, Hillybilly is a challenge, I play PS4 so I have 0 complaints about Nurse, literally the only thing I have to complain about is camping. With that in mind, you can't get rid of camping. Either the Killer is camping because he knows Survivors are nearby, he's been having a hard match and the pressure got to him, or he's just sadistic and that's all he's good at therefore he's a loser. Nothing the Developers can do to stop camping without making it even harder for killers, in some cases camping is a strategy and that is exactly why Killers don't lose points when they camp if someone else is within range.

That post has pretty much nothing to do with this thread, but whatever.

Like I already mentionned in another thread about the subject, the trailler and the name of the chapter seem to indicate that Legion in its early developping stage might have been a "killer hiding ammong survivor"

Of course the proof are loose and the only way to really know would be to have the dev speak about it.

Honestly they should have been like the pig. The hiding as a survivor part should have been the first part of their power and what we have now should have been the secondary one.

Which wouldn't work against SWF, which make up 70% of lobbies.

It should have been that each of Legion's persona had their own power, switching power would switch the persona.

  • Haddonfield is overdue. Next would be Léry's Memorial Institute, then Red Forest.

  • At any rate, it's a deceptive trailer, which is what I have my gripe with.

Legion is one big missed opportunity in so many ways, it's quite sad.

  • @Avariku said:
right...  so survivors have it hard because all survivors suck, but killers have it hard because the game is balanced towards survivors.

    no bias here!  xD

Indeed there is none, you just aren't very good at understanding a text.

  • @Theluckyboi said:
Then why are killers always complaining about survivor juking them and calling decisive overpowered?

Simple: kills do not equal fun.

I doesn't matter in the slightest if a Killer gets 4 kills. If the game leading up to those 4 kills was an absolute #########-show (which is the case in nearly every game in high ranks), it wasn't fun, but frustrating.

It would be nice if Survivors could get away from the kills/pips/Emblems/whatever = fun assumption.

  • You're way too new to know the game's problems yet. Sorry.
  • TMI in the current state of the game.

    It's as simple as that.

Aside from that, I know the trailers have some cinematic freedom, but this one is #########. It makes it seem like Legion blends in with the Survivors until putting the mask on and killing them. It couldn't be further from the actual gameplay.

The way the trailer is and the name of the chapter make me believe it might have been their original intent and they changed legion somewhere during production

If that were the case, probably after realising that SWF make up 70% of all lobbies and aren't fooled by a pseudo-Survivor.

  • Aside from that, I know the trailers have some cinematic freedom, but this one is #########. It makes it seem like Legion blends in with the Survivors until putting the mask on and killing them. It couldn't be further from the actual gameplay.

  • Didn't know there are so many noob Doctors out there that rely on Nurse's Calling.

Actually, I do, 90% of the Doctors I verse suck. No good Doctor player gives two ######### about that nerf.

The PTB is not a place where things are testing for the sake of weeding out bugs. It's a place where people (especially streamers) can get early access to content to hype their followers with thus ensuring extra cash to the devs. Bug fixing and balance changes are secondary, or maybe even third, priority.

so the ptb is a version of making people want to try to buy dlc when it releases

A free sample, yeah. Get a taste, get hooked.

no pun intended thats for you btw, but really I always think of it as finding bugs or if the killer is OP or weak

Which is its intention. I'm in direct contact with a member of the QA team and know that they do look at the bugs we find in the PTB.
  • It sounds like an extract from last year's Winter Solstice Theme

Probably the killer with the least build variation in the entire game. Doesn't help his already weak-ass situation.

which is why either his ability needs to be changed to work with them or the perks

    Hello

We have no plan to alter his base movement speed, not at the moment at least. His Frenzy is basically a free hit, him being at normal killer speed was very problematic during development and very unbalanced. There are a few tweaks coming on him for the live update. These will be announced soon by NotQueen. Stay tuned, thank you!

I seriously have to ask: why are those changes not in a PTB?

I also don't intend to be rude, but the way you guys play in-house often does not overlap in its crucial points with how people actually play on the live build.
  • In any case, Twitch has the possibility to give an arbitrary delay to one's stream. Anyone who's streaming a game like Dead by Daylight, in which stream-snipping can yield an unfair advantage, the streamer should put in a big enough delay for that information (the player's location) to not be valid anymore.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Besides how many times do killers cry and then refuse to take perks they're recommended?

    Simple answer:

Survivor mains tend to be extremely ignorant about Killer Perks and in pretty much every single instance of a Survivor main suggesting a Killer to take Perk A to counter Perk/Mechanic B, it doesn't actually work as a counter if we go by the official definition of said word and not made-up ones.

  • @DarkWo1f997 said:
@The_Crusader the biggest mistake survivors still make to this day, is completing a gen while someone is hooked, I promise you that any time a gen is popped while someone is hooked, the incentive to stay only grows. The smart thing to do is stay off the gens, and make yourselves seen from a distance by the killer.

The trick that works works for me every time, is to stay about 32 meters from the killer, and just walk without making eye contact, make sure your character doesn’t turn their head, pretend you don’t see him and if you do it convincingly enough, the killer sees that as a free hit and will feel comfortable leaving that hook.

If he starts walking towards you, do not walk away until he’s closer to you than the hook, crouch behind something facing away from him, and when the TR music kicks in, you GTFO there.

There are are so many little clever things you can do and some of them help both sides in the nerves department.

You're expecting way too much thinking from the average Survivor main.

  • @KingB said:
@DocOctober are you saying camping is fun?

No, I'm saying that your solution doesn't regard the Killer's fun. Punishing the Killer for camping without giving them an incentive for not camping doesn't make non-camping fun to them.

  • KingB said:
@DocOctober I think not having to camp the whole progress bar would be nice. The camped survivor can suicide without screwing over the team as bad. Is there any changes I can make to please killers/you? Camping isn't fun (unless the survivor was toxic), I'm trying to make a solution that keeps camping an option but not so boring.
I'd prefer it if you were honest. Your idea only regards the Survivor's fun
  • Evil_one said:
Survivors should be able to see the account name of the killer.  So they can avoid facecamper they played against already!
That was possible in 2016. Survivors abused it so thoroughly (as they abuse everything really) that the devs removed that possibility.
  • Of course there are a lot of LOL reactions, it's an utterly ludicrous request. Anyone who's in their right mind and not a biased blinded Survivor main knows that pallets are still abundant.

  • I prefer to leave the Perk as is.
  • Let's make a suggestion that only favours Survivors and doesn't give a damn about the Killers, I'm sure that will make both sides happy.

    What did you smoke?
  • There will be. The PTB revealed some new cosmetic files titled "WinterEvent2018"

Read over the new feedback, I'll give my thoughts here.

Regarding the changes to deep wound: I don't feel like this would be a significant change. If it's a 60 second timer by default and depletes at a 50% rate during a chase, you're still looking at two minutes before they actually go down. Sure, you could use your power again to shave off a little more time, but if it takes 30 seconds to cooldown, you're still looking at a significantly long chase just to down someone with it. For that reason, I don't really see the need to have it deplete at a reduced rate in a chase at all if the timer is going to be extended.

Being unable to mend yourself back when injured would be neat. I think that more than anything could give the legion a lot of power. It would slow down survivors more than they currently are (where they can immediately start mending the second you turn your back and move to the next survivor), and more importantly, it would allow you to interrupt the probably-still-injured survivors as they're mending each other up, which plays nicely into his power.

Regarding frenzy changes: I'm mostly on board with this, I don't see any real downside here.

The QOL change: I wouldn't want to see that happen. Removing the double stun is one thing, but reducing the fatigue period if you purposefully end frenzy would make the killer very overpowered. You could tag a survivor with deep wound (injuring them), catch back up in frenzy, end frenzy, close the small distance they gained very quickly, and then use a regular M1 to down them. Unless they are immediately next to a window or pallet when your frenzy ends, they're dead.

The big issue with frenzy is that it ignores all of a survivor's counterplay. Pallets don't save you, windows don't save you, nothing does. If the legion gets remotely close, they're going to hit you. That's why I see it as a very tricky killer to balance. How do you make a guaranteed hit powerful without making it feel unfair to play against? And at the same time, how do you make a guaranteed hit weaker without making it feel weak to play with? It's a tricky situation, I don't really think there is a right answer to.

In any case, still good feedback, I think the general idea is good but the killer itself is incredibly touchy to balance. It's hard to say whether or not it would be enough or whether it would make them overpowered, but it could be interesting. I would say that the fatigue reduction couldn't happen, though, that would make him way too powerful at something he's not designed to do.

Pallets don't help you? Just vault right back when Legion vaulted. His momentum carries them beyond it, giving ample time to be safe again.

At any rate, I prefer the QA team's proposals.

Well DBD is mostly played by survivors so no matter how much you cry they'll never be nerfed into the ground. I suggest you give up.

In fact with the recent BT buff, new perks like breakdown and most importantly the points/emblem change it seems that nobody that matters is on your side with camping either so....GG.

And you showed your true colours. Thanks for being the perfect example for why Survivor mains get so mich hate. You are toxic, hateful, spiteful, spoilt brats that bully the devs into complying to your will. You are not out for a fair, balanced game, you're out for an unfair, unbalanced mess in your favour. • One thing I will answer right now as it's at the very bottom of that mess you call a reply:

No change in the past 8 months touched the core mechanic in any way. I bet you anything that if the Depip Squad would do the experiment again, the result would be the same. Gens were not changed in any way and looping is still just as prevalent as ever and I'd prefer it if you could not bring stuff into the discussion that has no place in it.

    • Moonlight Offerings don't affect how Gens are repaired.
    • the squad often remained injured instead of self-caring if it took up too much of their time, so the Healing changes don't affect the Gens either.
    • at least in the vanilla trials without any Items or such, they didn't go for flashlight saves so the pick-up timer doesn't affect the experiment as well.
    • the only thing that changed which would change the outcome of the experiment, were the Pustulas during Hallowed Blight and those were only temporary and not obligatory to harvest.

I don't call looping cheating, I call it borderline-cheating. I know it is allowed (sadly), but it comes extremely close to abusing an exploit which it actually is from a purely technical POV (differences in collision box sizes and manoeuvrability).

Tunnelling and camping do not fall under that, not even under the logic you accuse me of having.

I couldn't care less about the buffs the devs have given Killers, this is not what the discussion is about. The core mechanics that allow the Depip Squad to inflate their win rate up into the high 90 per cents have not been addressed with any of them or been affected in any way.

And FYI, don't try to pull off the attitude you're portraying at the moment, that doesn't work with me.

  • @powerbats said:

    @DocOctober said:

    Ah, I just love this.

You tampered with data, you got called out for it, you changed your statement to something else and now when asked to provide proof of that, you completely ignore the request and instead try to shift goal post over to me instead of trying to defend your original arguments.

That is one thing: utterly pathetic.

You're nothing, but a lousy troll, but I'll humour you for this last time and provide you with some FACTS:

    1) A lot of hours doesn't mean that someone is skilled at a part of the game, that they played very little during that time.

    2) The Depip Squad had ONE objective: repair Gens, ignore literally everything else. And if one of them was engaged in a chase, he'd simply loop to stall the Killer. Don't you dare tell me that holding M1 for 80 seconds and running in circles around obstacles, requires any sort of skill that is above the level of a mediocre Survivor.

    3) Again, provide proof for your statement. You've got to provide me with the numbers for Killers who ran NOED, not me. And even if a handful of those 300 Killers were Killer Players who used a Killer for a daily, that they don't usually play, it doesn't invalidate the entire experiment and the dozens and dozens of games that adhered to the premise set by it.

    4) In terms of surviving, not much has changed so far. Surviving is still incredibly easy in general and literally NOTHING has changed about Generators in those 8 months and as we all know, looping is still just as viable a cheesy, practically cheating tactic as it was back then.

The Depip Squad showed that the very core mechanics of the game are fundamentally broken in favour of Survivors and nothing has changed about that as none of the Patches since 1.9.x have changed anything about that.

Yeah you keep making up stuff to suit your agenda, it'll get you really far.

I never tampered with data at all, that screenshot was taken over 4 months ago back when I was debating with Orin, Tsulan, SovereignKing, Lowbei, Vietfox, and about 7 or so others.

I never changed my statement at all, I simply clarified something that wasn't clear which was i wasn't aware of that lobby bug. I was only aware of the other post game lobby bug which was the depip bug, which by the way i've reported months ago.

But if you think I was aware of that rank bug by all means go look for me posting about it, i'm sure you realize after you've gone through all my comments i didn't. Oh sure you'll dig and dig but finding nothing come here and claim i did.

Then you'll claim I deleted it despite the fact it'd say edited in that thread which by the way you won't find any such evidence because there is none. But then you'll make up more stuff just like your post is filled with made up stuff to suit your narrative that's false.

The only thing lousy and trollish here is the one trying to start a flame war and making stuff up just so they can try and insult someone they don't like or disagree with.

1, Are you seriously going to say that none of them has a lot of hours playing survivor and doesn't know what they're doing? Because it's quite clear they have plenty of experience playing survivor, they know where totems are by heart. They have all the pallet locations memorized and where the best looping spots are from a survivors viewpoint.

They know the turning radius of their survivors by heart and where they can and can't lose the killer properly. They know what the terror radius is to defeat NC from a survivor's standpoint. They can hit great skill checks with regularity. They have no issue powering through Ruin if need be and they know how to handle their survivors exceptionally well.

That all says that not only are you mistaken but badly so when it comes to their playtime and knowledge of survivors. Just because they played very little during that time totally ignores all the time before that they played. I mean you conveniently ignored the countless several k hours of experience they played before that.

Oh and wasn't it you claiming wrongly about tampering with data and now you're being called out on deliberately leaving stuff out.

    1. So they had a biased test by your own words and ignored totems unlike most groups both solo and swf who don't go into a match like that. Well gee don't most groups whether solo or swf have 1 person looping to stall the killer? Because if we use your logic all the kill main complaints on here are a bunch of exaggerations about dealing with loopers.

Did you really did try that nonsense and expect it to fly, well let me hit you with both facts and logic here and common sense.

It takes skill to make sure you don't miss a skill check while holding M1 and watching for the killer, it also takes skill to hold M1 and not screw up that great skillcheck, especially when the killer has Ruin. It takes skill to actually turn at the right angles and not get caught after 1 or 2 loops.

Now onto your mediocre player nonsense that's got no bearing in factual reality as an argument standpoint.

If someone is mediocre then obviously they'd blow up the gen 1 or more times during that 80 seconds and quite likely draw the killers attention. That's without even taking Ruin into consideration which a lot of killer run which means that mediocre player is going to take longer than 80 seconds and that' before the killer comes to investigate.

Onto the looping part, if the player is mediocre then the killer will catch them after 1 or 2 loops because the person is obviously not that good. Now if the player is mediocre then obviously they'll never get past rank 15 let alone get out of the 20 which is where most casuals are.

If you want to say it takes no skill, it takes no skill to hit M1 for killer, it takes no skill to hook someone, it takes no skill to hit spacebar and damage a gen.

    1. No I don't actually I called you on it to provide it and as typical you say you don't have to provide what you were asked for.

You're joking right, a biased experiment from the start isn't compromised because it was biased from the start and had no controls. If a baby killer was playing a killer they're not familiar with against a pack of pro tier players you can't make a statement like that you know to be utterly false and be taken seriously.

    1. Now I know you're just flat out trolling here since you claim not much has changed so I guess all those killer buffs, reworks, pallet changes, healing changes were imaginary.

Well gee, gens haven't changed oh wait they did test a new objective based mechanic to help with gens but that obviously didn't happen in your alternate facts reality. Ah yes here we get to more nonsense and the truth starts to come out.

Lets see, reduced pallets and window locations thus reducing looping possibilities, then we have the changes to the sac tree making it easier for killers. There were also the changes to jungle gyms and removal of certain obstacles. But in your alternate facts reality those didn't happen.

Yeha the devs have done absolutely nothing balance wise since that experiment, not a single killer was buffed, Wraith didn't get a really good rework. The Hag didn't get a really good rework, the trapper didn't get some help,

They definitely didn't remove Moonlight Offerings to help killers, Backwater Swamp tile didn't get changed at all by being made smaller. The Shrimp boat on that map didn't get changed to a different location to help killers. Thompson House didn't get a hook added to the upper floor to help killers at all.

Oh and lets not forget the pickup animation for killers that made it quicker to pick up and harder to be flashlight blinded. Now speaking of flashlight blinding they changed it from a white screen to the new effect to help killers.

You narrow the Depip squad's experiment just to fit your argument and when in reality they were talking about more than just gens. They were also talking about how easy it was to loop, the pallets and window locations. They also dealt with jungle gyms and how some map locations were completely survivor safe unless the killer was a nurse.

Which as I pointed out above all the changes that were made in response to the issues raised yet you conveniently ignored and left all that out. It's almost as if the last 8 months you completely left all that out because it would've contradicted you.

Those are all things that the devs have done to improve the game, just because you call looping cheating doesn't make it so. If looping is cheating then using your logic so is dribbling, tunneling, camping etc since they're all cheezy tactics.

Perhaps looping isn't the problem but the person being looped either not chasing someone easier or not cutting the person away from the loop. If someone's looping you for 2-5 gens then you're the problem not the looper.

I don't even know where to start answering this, it's such a convoluted mess. If you expect an answer, make a TL;DR and get to the point, ffs.

This theory is a couple of things: unrealistic, grasping at straws and generally ludicrous.

It has immense flaws to it, no matter how desperate OP is trying to ignore them.

It's called a theory for a reason LEL

Which tells me that you don't know the definition of the word "theory".

A theory is something that is based on tested, well-substantiated explanations.

What you've got here is actually just a hypothesis, and not a good one.

  • BUZZER

Wrong answer, the Nurse is even slower than that.

  • Why do you think that there's a need for a thread like this?

I doubt new players will search for a random forum thread first thing when they don't know what an exhaustion perk does.

@powerbats Will the depip squad experiment is flawed this isn't really the point but yes, the depip squad experiment is a very flawed one and could have use a control group or two.

Without taking in account that the experiment show notably a sampling bias since the menber of the depip squad are not any average player and could be considered as some of the top 5% of player

You could also argue that Hawthorne effect affected the outcome of the experiment since the killer they where facing might know who marth is and that he was running his test and might have want the test to show a particuliar result.

But it isn't the point, in this case we mention the depip squad not for the validity of the experience but because OP wanted to know about big survival strike to try to stive to do better and improve himself.

The Depip Squad consists of Killer mains, they weren't exceptionally skilled Survivors. The entire purpose of the experiment was to show that any mediocre SWF group can abuse the system to vastly increase their win rate if all they do is focus on Generator repairs and ignore everything else.

So 4k plus hour players all killer mains regardless and they most definitely knew how to play survivor quite well. You calling them a mediocre group is laughable and just proves you know you can't defend your argument.

How many of those killers ran NOED, how many were baby killers doing dailies as Marth even admitted, you ignore all that.

The videos are also done well over 8 months ago before the massive changes you can't say killers are in the same state and be taken seriously.

Since I'm convinced you did doctor that picture on purpose, mind giving undoctored screenshots of all those games you mention that show Rank 20 in both places?

I'm not taking your word for anything.

Unless you know the games shown on the videos are consecutive (like with the de-pip squad), I would disregard all numbers provided by anyone as YouTubers usually cherry-pick their good trials only for a video.

Well the depip run was also against at times baby killers and this was also rank 20 to 1 since Marth was a rank 20 wasn't he? Also a 4 man Delta Force team isn't what i'd call a valid experiment.

The Depip Squad were a total of 300 games (3 experiments with 100 consecutive games each) with all four Survivors in red ranks and Killers in purple/red ranks depending on the matchmaking.

Just because Marth is a Killer main, doesn't mean that he's only a rank 20 Survivor. Could you please be less biased and ignorant?

Talk about ignorant the depip squad videos in question 3 of them were all rank 1 he was rank 20 when he started with no perks.

I guess you're not aware of the lobby bug, you're even more ignorant in this case.

The screenshot shows the tally screen when the Killer disconnects from the trial. It often happens then that your personal Rank is shown as 20, even if that isn't the case.
