look, some rank 20 killers are really good and some rank 1 killers are really bad, im a rank 7 (after rank reset im 13) and i ruined survivors that are rank 2 and 1, i was a rank 7 survivor and im not the best survivor, really just stop doing this, its ridiculous, in fact, to be truthful with you, swf groups just make the game funnier for killer, playing the killer is not meant to be easy, playing survivor is not meant to be easy, its supposed to be hard and this community makes this annoying, believe me, i hate swf groups but I stay to have fun, and saying mid tier killers dont understand some perks like ds, sprint burst, and adrenaline is just stupid to say, if you dont wanna deal with it, then play huntress to deal with ds and sprint burst, adrenaline just cant be countered

Rank only shows how much time you have played in the current season.
A rank 20 killer might be good because he has taken a several month break from DBD and droped back to rank 20.
A rank 1 killer might be bad because he just plays enough to eventually reach rank 1 anyway (sad that this is a thing)

Basically the rule is, the higher your rank is, the higher POSSIBILITY you have to verse better players, but you can meet all other sorts too

Well exactly what i mean is that there are players out there that call rank 15 trash though its a rank 1 saying this, I really hate these types of players, I am a toxic player but i dont do this, also ranking system really needs to be fixed for swf groups, if a rank 20 host for a rank 1, this puts the killer at a huge disadvantage

SWF needs to be fixed in general. That it breaks matchmaking is only a small portion of the problem and that coudl actually be fixed easily

i like that ppl like noob or ochido or whatever... cant derank to bully new players for their montages.

They still can, simply pick a random rank 20 survivor from stream and voila. There are plenty of sheeps willing to do that, you can bet on that.

Fog Whisperer's are mostly professional streamers that play dozens of hours weekly. They'll probably never get banned because they play so many matches they will never reach the threshold for the ban. It's not a matter of double standards, just of numbers.

When you derank by DCing in order to keep at a certain rank area, it doesnt matter how much you play. For each game you paly you and pip, you will have to derank again.

Currently i´m struggling to rank up, because today i´ve not seen a single match where someone didn´t dc or suicide on the first hook.

Well even the idol streamers selected by the devs derank by DCing. Are you surprised that other players adapt to this playstyle?

  • @ToastfaceKilla said:
I don't think its deranked Rank 1 players, because I never see these ######### at R1, only at reset. What is it about Rank Reset that brings out the absolute worst of players.

Take a break from DBD for at least one week after the rank reset.

As long as there is no support for colorblinds, i am against this. There are already maps/enviorments where i basicly can´t use the camara, because i can´t see the skillcheck against the backround, so i fix my sight to a point where i can. Giving that skillcheck a random spot screws double with that.

Actually unbelievable that we almost have no settings after such a long time (even for an early acess game it would be kinds ridiculous)

    Hello @Khalednazari !

    The answer is YES.
And the follow up answer is THERE WILL BE!

We are working on implementing our progressive ban system to consoles.
In the meantime, we are logging every report / disconnects / leaves on our side which is why I encourage players to still use the in-game report system.

If you are facing a reprehensible behavior, you can report directly to Sony / Microsoft.

So does this possibly mean dedicated servers? 😃 that’s really the only way I can see this happening please @not_Queen respond , I know it’s in the works but I’m just curious how it could work without them
You know that it is in the work?

Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I use insidious to listen for footsteps when I can't seem to find anyone :3 although, come to think of it, I do always feel compelled to camp nearby after hooking someone.

Oh #########, you know what? This doesn't only affect the usefulness of insidious, but it affects leatherface as well. The only times that damn chainsaw is useful is when people are unhooking; to pretend you're quickly destroying pallets; and to cut off and down survivors that commit to vaulting without looking behind them.

You don't want to rank up anyway, especially with weak killers like Leatherface

Fine, one more post just to put that to rest here and now.

If you mean the Blight event, then I'm afraid not. I'm already turned off the game as a new player. There's absolutely no reason, and no investment from me into the game, to feel any need to play the event.

I've returned to Overwatch, where I am enjoying Halloween Terror and a game that isn't so damned broken. I've been in Overwatch since launch, and will continue to be in Overwatch. I tried DBD, it didn't work out.

The wrecking ball halloween skin is awesome, Im trying to get that one too atm, DBD is not enjoyable after rank reset anyway

Bullying noobs for either side should be a big no no I agree with the ban

Wanting to play at lower ranks doesn't automatically mean bullying. The pipping system for survivor is so screwed up that it's easy to end up at a rank where it's absolutely impossible to enjoy the game.

Was watching a small streamer, plays DbD only occasionally, she's nevertheless rank 1. She played at rank 1 for 5 1/4 hours and escaped only twice during that time, once vs a meme Leatherface insidious-guarding his basement chest. Multiple times the killers had 4ks even before hatch was unlocked. Towards the end the only reason she kept playing despite being deeply frustrated was because she was hoping for one good match to finish off which never came. Despite playing hopelessly unsuccessful at rank 1, she didn't drop in rank either and when she dropped to 2, she was back at 1 the next game despite having a bad game.

I hate playing at higher ranks as well, mainly because the fellow survivors you get in solo queue are on the same skill level of those you get on rank 15 (red ranks didn't change anything), but the killers get better and better and fully perked out and totally tryhard I can't easily 1 vs 1 them anymore (which is necessary considering my teammates are mostly more of a burden than help). Moreover, almost every single game 3rd person got slugged to deny the 4th the hatch. Makes the last four minutes of the game terribly boring.

I am managing my own rank by simply playing at most one survivor game per day, and many days I don't play at all. Last season I managed to never get higher than 11. I would rather like to play more and not be forced into simply playing only one game every couple of days.

So you guys want to play against newbie killers, that chase you a little bit, but they are not able to catch you, just for your own enjoyment?

Maybe you are not trying to intentionally bully, but wanting to play at a lower rank compared to your own skill level just in order to have easier matches is like bullying for those lower rank players.

You guys really, really have to stop equating rank to skill level. Yes, it matters from like 15-20 because those are the genuine new player ranks, but once you get above that, while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not, it truly, truly does not make much of a difference. Everyone knows that equating your rank to skill in this game is something only new players do.

You said it yourself "...while higher ranks will probably have a few more good players than not..."

So you guys try to stay on lower ranks on purpose in order to avoid facing those extra "few" good players, just so you can have more amount of easy matches.

I do understand when people try to stay on lower ranks in order to get faster queues.
But staying on lower ranks just for the sake of having easier/funnier matches doesnt seem right to me(it might be fun for you, but probably not for the other side)

Maybe you will change your mind after you have been buliled by a SWF trying to learn a new killer.

@Rebel_Raven said: Because voice comms is game breaking. It's several free perks all in one.

The last thing the killer community needs is even randoms being able to break the game.     They haven't, and likely can't balance against swfs as it is. Digging the hole deeper won't help.

The dev's have stated that this is an "antisocial" game. You're not supposed to talk in the first place.  They need to digg the hole deeper in order to balance properly. You cant have two game modes, SWF and solo with insane difference balance-wise, but without any compensation on the killers side. Devs opened pandoras box already, its too late now and the game simply evolves around SWF with voice comms now If random survivors get voice comms, I'm retiring as a killer until they balance against it, and considering how that's working out with swfs, I'm basically going to be retired as a killer testing the waters with rituals at most. If they add in game chat, why would people who use external chat use it?

If the game punishes people for using internal chat, they will bypass it with external.     I've played against people that use voice comms. It's way too unrewarding to play against them.         Sure, but the point is that they can ONLY balance around voice comms properly if everyone has access to them. External and internal comms would work together like in any other game, take overwatch for example. WHen I play overwatch I am in teamspeak together with my friends and if we want to share calls with the whole team you press the push to talk button. I see no reason why this would not work in DBD. Let's say, for instance the killer gets a notification like a failed skill check every time someone uses ingame voice chat (entity help us, it would be like the 4th of july, and that'snot considering obvious distractions.) why would people who can use external chat have internal chat on? External chat bypasses giving that warning. Or if killers can hear survivors clearly, some kid screaming that you're camping them if you aren't out of visual range, and maybe even if you are? Do you want a doctor chasing you as some high pitched kid whines that you're looping them? I'll grant you that balancing around provided in game chat might help, but they can only balance around that.

And until they balance around that, which will take a long time, there may well be a sharp decrease in long term killers.

If you mute the annoying ones, then any benefit the killer gets from voice comms balancing is probably gone since they will all probably be annoying.

Muting takes time. Killers do not have time to waste in a game that might not last 5 minutes.  No ingame voice comms need to be the same as ts/discord. The killer shouldnt hear survivors obviously They had better shore up the immense power gap between survivors and killers in a hurry after implementing that. And hopefully have a quick mute for survivors so some annoying git isn't in my ear the whole game.

Since killers won't have any idea who's talking and who isn't, have any ideas on how to balance around it?

What do you mean with "killers won't have any idea who's talking and who isn't"

It will make me more prone to retire from killer.

that immense power gap will probably be -every match- and not just swfs I can dodge and people sending chat requests.

A good many killers are either tired of voice chat as it is, or will be very quickly once the survivors abuse it enough.

If I knew who was chatting or not, I could maybe play killer closer to the original intent of the game.

Keeping it to SWF helps contain the problem for now, though I got chat requests from strangers as a survivor, and I'm almost certain it's becoming more common.

Not keeping it to swf may help speed up balance, or it could backfire immensely as the devs can't compensate for telepathic survivors. Considering the track record with swfs so far, it will likely be the latter.

If the devs dont compensate killersm when survivors can use voice comms, then thats ok.

If they finally admit on that I am ready to retire too.

I just cant stand the current situation anymore

Just tried to have a fun match at rank 13 with my newly purchased clown. Got bullied by 3 man DS team. Now I am afk playing oxygen not included while I derank back to 15. I cant stand DBD anymore, its such a mess and I honestly cant believe how there are still beginner players wanting to play killer

Because there is still magic in VSing non swf groups. Some in dodging swfs.

Too bad we can't ensure all 5 players keep getting an even shake.

We can, by giving voice comms to all survivors and finally balancing the damn game around that

  • @Madjura said:
They already ban people who disconnect in a certain % of games. The exact number isn't revealed because if they did then toxic people would abuse it and disconnect in N-1 games where N is the number of games they have to disconnect from to get banned.

Next time you down someone that has DS, try this:

reload your bottles, then smack one straight down on the slug, then pick them up, and stand in the cloud. The DS skillcheck goes off, but the whole time you are stunned, they are slowed and coughing. I've not lost many DS using the clown once I thought of this, even in corn fields. the coughing is a entity send. They just can't get far enough away.

    I though that too.

How an Earth do you ban people for using a menu option YOU give them? This is ridiculous and not thought out - the obvious solution used by other games is a dodge timer that escalates based on frequency of the offending action. Some DC if they are face camped in the basement with an insidious killer to prevent that play on survivor teamwork and prevent a slaughter. Simply start with a 30 min dodge timer, escalate to an hour after xx offenses and so on. Reset after a couple days of no issues. FWIW, I have not been banned - but saw this train wreck coming as I know some that have been banned.

And while I'm at it - how about a release with ONLY fixes. The net number of bugs, based on the forums, is growing - not declining. So make an attempt at actually fixing instead of making the game worse. There are key perks that don't work (Dead Hard works half the time, many killer perk bugs, Deliverance was poorly implemented, Safe unhooks, etc. etc. It's sloppy - you have abundant UI issues - the store is a mess and shows you have no UI Designer. When a timer ends, the action should be performed - not 1 full second AFTER (menus still don't activate correctly). The Summary screen after match has multiple bugs showing we can't trust your internal math if you can't get the math you show us correct.

Quit in any multiplayre game enough (yes by using the menu option) and you will receive punishment.
But anyway, you would have to DC in like 80% of your matches until devs take action so I assume your "someone" got banned for sth else

Again, another poster who doesn't read - I never said DC issues weren't a problem, nor did I say they shouldn't be punished. It's the implementation that is pure crap. Dodge timers are proven in other games and work better - the player is given an immediate notification that if they choose to pursue quitting they will be given a timeout - this amount of timeout escalates the more they do it.

Geez, does anyone in these forums READ before posting - nothing but Ready, Fire, Aim.

Yes I totally agree on dodge timers. There should be an increasing queue time punishments, the more you Dc

From my experience it is always a ragequit.
The last time my game crashed was maybe ~6 months ago. The devs fixed a lot of the game crashes, thats not an issue anymore and if it really happens ocne, you shoudl deal with a small queue time punishment for the greater good.

You cant have two game modes, SWF and solo with insane difference balance-wise, but without any compensation on the killers side.

Devs opened pandoras box already, its too late now and the game simply evolves around SWF with voice comms now

If random survivors get voice comms, I'm retiring as a killer until they balance against it, and considering how that's working out with swfs, I'm basically going to be retired as a killer testing the waters with rituals at most.

The killer shouldnt hear survivors obviously

In my eyes its the only way to balance the game since SWF has become a thing.

I would say it’s because of the toxicity this game has in it and I like it without voice coms I don’t want to hear some guy screaming at me to come farm him in front of a camping Leatherface

Of course you would have the possibilty to mute certain players or even completely disable comms at all.
But there needs to be the possibiltiy for solo players to communicate such that the game can be balanced

Nah I do it for my own fun just dont get why so serious players out there that get mad about it i mean its just a game.. I dont get mad if im being tunneled or face camped its all fun and games you win and you lose just having fun

That's good. Because I actively tunnel and facecamp Survivors who t-bag me. It's simple, really. As people have pointed out, it's the video game equivalent of giving someone the middle finger. Well, at my age, if you want to be a rude little pissant, then I'm going to tunnel you, hook you, facecamp you, and remove you from the Trial and not let you earn decent bloodpoints.

    Learn to behave.

But that doesnt make much sence tho does it as you are tunneling and facecamping the teabagger you are also loosing bloodpoints by doing that as others are doing gens and escaping your just triggered and losing bloodpoints too by doing that so whats the catch lol

    Not everybody plays competitively

If survivors want camping to be prevented, they shouldnt be able to loop killers lol.

Do you really think this would help? I have seen matches where the survivors suck and almost instantly got caught every chase and the killer still camped. To me it would seem like rewarding the killer for leaving the hook with points per x amount of distance would be a better idea to discourage camping.

When all survivors go down isntantly, there is literally no reason to camp and almsot no killers do that. Instead they simply collect the easy 4k and continue instead of waiting 2 minutes afk in front of an easy target that you can down within a few seconds anyway.

However, what I can imagine is that killers camp the bad player of a SWF because they were not able to catch the good high rank looper. For some reason SWFs can play against low rank killers, no idea why this is still a thing

To be fair, i disconnected as a killer once. I was a lvl 13 or so killer, and did quite bad. So the survivors stopped doing gens and just came after me. the flogged around me, evaded my hits or where healed the moment after, bodyblocked if you managed to down one, and so forth. They were way over my skilllevel. And thats simply what a lot of swf-groups do. you have a group of 1 lvl 14 player, and 3 lvl 3+, taking advantage of inexperienced killers and harress them instead of playing (and just finishing) the game.

Give killers the option do not fight swf groups, then talk about punishing them for disconnecting

Jeez that sucks, I don't know why high rank people are so toxic. But they really need to fx Swf because like you said if one of them is rank 20 and the rest is rank 1, chances are they are going to get a low rank killer and bully. But you do have to understand that a lot of people are swf group, not necessarily a full group, but most people are. If killers keep dodging because it's a swf, they will never play.

If you only dodge SWF with 3 men or more, you will find a game in no time. Killer queues are always faster at mediumish ranks, so that shouldnt be a problem if you want to lobby dodge

Hello @witulo , let me clarify some things for you.

We ban for DC Yes, we are punishing players who are leaving games.

They are ruining the experience of 4 other players and that's unacceptable, whatever the reason behind it.

Yes, there are fair reasons to leave games Personal emergency? Hardware issue? Power surge? Game crash?

These are examples that are OUT OF THE PLAYER'S HANDS, they do not occur regularly and will not cause the player to show up on our list.

Leaving games as an habit We are punishing the HABIT of leaving games, the habit of ruining other player's experience.

The % we apply to the player's profile (game leaves / game played) is high enough for us to be confident in our processes and to know we are punishing the right players, the ones that made an habit of leaving.

We are taking responsibility You are mentionning that People play games to have fun , we agree with that statement. We are not saying our game is perfect, far from it, but most players are able to play without leaving and enjoy the challenge

We want these players to have a great experience, and for that, the leavers need to go.

In case you are not aware.

Even fogstreamer REGULARLY derank by DCing. How is this even possible?

Why cant we have a queue time punishment like other games have it. That would solve almost all DC issues immediately

Add in a lobby dodge que while we’re at it, if the connection is good there is no reason to leave, and if an emergency happens then the penalty won’t affect you at all because you’ll be too busy dealing with that to notice. It’s not fair to make people play lobby simulator because you don’t want to play against items or swf, they are both game features whether anyone likes it or not and you shouldn’t be allowed to ruin anyone’s experience there either, @not_Queen I’m just curious is this a thing being worked on or discussed currently by the team?

Sure, but we need some ping management system then.

Right now, lobby dodging is not a bannable offense and you can do it 24 hours straight if you want to. DCing however is technically a bannable offense even though it is not properly punished

I feel like if dedicated servers are possible it would solve a lot of issues people are having with all this.

It would solve latency issues, but it would not solve DC issues

I've thought about it a lot. Used to think it would at least partly solve the problem with the unfair advantage SWF players have. Not so sure anymore: the most trollish survivor groups would continue using their own method of communications, with no limitation (I assume an inbuilt voice chat would be limited by distance). I'm talking about groups who use every possible exploit and imbalanced tool possible. These guys won't care.
Also, there are those who won't use voice chat however convenient it is, so they won't enjoy its benefits. Though this is the lesser issue, as it's up to them.

An ingame voice comm would have unlimited range, otherwise we would have again the problem to balance around voice comms probably.

I'm a killer main with about 2.5k hrs in this game. I have seen good and ######### survivors at all ranks, same with killers. Rank is way too easy to gain, and thus is not an accurate representation of actual skill.

Jendenise is a very skilled survivor, who has probably over 6k hours at this point, and also knows that rank doesn't matter. Yes, there's some difference between rank 1 and 20, but not that much. Also calling someone "trashy" because they derank is really immature but I wouldn't expect much from dbd forums.

    I recommend watching this:

At rank 20, players dont even understand how looping works. Yet you claim that rank 20 and rank 1 is the same?

I ask you one question then. If there is really no difference, why do players derank then? (talking about midseason situation, not shortly after rank reset)

I've got some advice for those at BHVR.

Instead of banning people for DC, which is just a band-aid fix you apply over a plethora of problems this game has. Why not fix the issues which cause people to DC in the first place? Like I don't know, lag switching maybe? I see you are pumping out microtransaction cosmetics every single week, why not use that time wasted on these, and money for that matter, to get dedicated servers. Its completely overdue. Banning people for using the leave game option in game is completely up to them, you need to ask yourself why people would want to stay in a game where a killer is lag switching, or playing as a killer, a survivor is hacking, or looping until the end of time after a DS. (WHICH IS STILL TO BE NERFED?). And no don't say use the report feature in game, we all know this is just a placebo effect to make people believe there is consequence, but people with sense know otherwise.

Also I've got a question that I don't think a lot of people seem to raise, why when I play a survivor (regardless of rank) do I get teamed with people <1 hour played, hiding in lockers, failing skillchecks, running into the killer, cannot loop. Yet, at the same rank as a killer I get full legacy P3 lobbies of survivors, all 360 pro's, working together regardless SWF or not. Why do I see this pattern, why have I seen this pattern for an alarming amount of time now. Its clear you have some algorythm at work to rig the match making, but most people will just put it down to bad luck. More fool them.

Why would you need to DC against a laggswitcher? Elaborate pls?

The two times I faced a laggswitcher I simply died on hook instantly because well, he laggswitched (lul?)
DCing should be way harder punished than in the current state

my question is why would you want to stay in a game where cheating is a thing? like no one if someone is cheating you would rather leave and play a fair game.

If the killer laggswitched then you are on a hook, try to kobe and then dont struggle. Game done, you wasted a few precious seconds of your live because you didnt DC, oh my god

As killer its a different story because a cheating survivor can hold y> @MegaWaffle said:

    @Tsulan said:
The amount of disconnects stands in no correlation to the amount of lag switchers.
I've over 1000 hours and I can count the lag switchers I've seen on 1 hand.
Almost every match has people disconnecting, because there was no apparent punishment.

Also, the switch from peer 2 peer to dedicated servers is way more complicated than you think. It's probably not even possible, since it may be hardcoded.

    @witulo

Explain the amount of DCing that goes on with console because there is no such thing as lag switchers or hacking there and yet 9/10 games seem to have at least 1 person DC. Its due to lack of punishment that people DC and cannot be blamed on BHVR. People are responsible for their own actions don't try pointing that finger at anyone else and take responsibility for yourself if you DC.

Tsulan is right about switching server styles it isn't possible to just flip a switch and make it happen as it takes loads of money and time to set servers up and re-code game files to run on a new server setup. As I'm not on the programming team at BHVR I don't know how deeply that coding change would need to go to even switch the server type.

Servers are actually quite cheap, the problem is adapting their spaghetti code and redoing all the netcode stuff

In my eyes its the only way to balance the game since SWF has become a thing.

I think it just falls to manpower. The BHVR team for Dead by Daylight has a limited number of people who could work on creating in-game voice chat. On top of that, who would actually use an in-game chat? Last time I checked all platforms have access to chats. Heck, the PC users can choose between Steam, Discord, Teamspeak, and Skype! This just doesn't seem like a priority for them. Besides, toxic words as text hurt enough. With an in-game chat, it would only be more painful. Depending on the execution such a chat could even be used to grief others depending on whether or not it's proximity-based.

Right now the only reason why we "cant" have a game balanced around SWF is because people claim that solo survivors dont have the advantage of communicating via comms.

There is a reason why any other game has instant punishments for DC that increase the more you DC. thats common sense actually, no idea why this doesnt apply to DBD

    Regarding your "reasons" to DC:

    • When you get farmed, simply let the killer hook you again and you are dead anyway. Problem solved, no need to DC
