So... camping sucks if it happens when the gates are powered, so your proposed solution is to do gens?
    O_o

Camping after the gates have been powered only occurs because the killer has nothing else to do.
But the devs said they wanted to change endgame anyway, so maybe "soon TM"

Unfortunately, you can't quit. The entity will make you keep going and going and going, this pain will never end

Funny enough is that I quit. But since my friends wouldn't stop bugging me to play with them, I reinstalled and now only play the game on SWF to play with my DbD buddies but no longer do I play the game on my own accord. Instead I've invested time into checking out other games such as Hob, Omensight, and even jump back into some Rocket League for fun. It's a nice release from the stress that I used to have as a killer main :P

I hear you. I certainly do. I came to DBD to play Killer, and even as a new player I see a ton of glaring issues already. I thought I needed a break from Overwatch, but DBD is making that game enticing again. I might just go back.

But don't worry, folks will come in to tell you that things aren't like that. Just go watch the Top Streamers play Killer and see for yourself. Just git gud. You know, like I haven't been gaming for over 30-years already (I'm 45-years-old), and don't know that it takes time to get good at a new game.

So, I laugh my ass off at that argument. That's like telling people to go watch the Overwatch League or the Top500 placement Streamers in Overwatch.

They are the top 1% in ability, they don't represent the majority; nor will the majority ever achieve their skills and abilities in a game. It's also a piss-poor cover for DBD's glaring issues.

Funny enough is that I used to be that top 1% but since I never streamed back then or filmed (since I didn't have the equipment at the time), no one knows me but I've been playing this game since like a month after this game's release and have over 2k hours in it. And if you do watch people like Tru3 play, you'll see matches where the survivors just rekts him and he just says, 'There's nothing I can do' and then he either accepts the 1k and goes to the next match or he gets lucky enough that the survivors get too cocky and mess up at the end resulting in more than a 1k and that basically summed up my experience with the game as a killer main as well. Hell those that tell you to watch them stream are also the people to tell you to watch youtube videos which are videos that the youtuber chooses to put on their channel. I mean I killed Monto as Freddy (check my screenshots if proof is needed) and yet that game never got posted. So yeah lol

Everybody knows that, only survivors claim that they are able to 4k with ease against competent SWF
and regarding youtube. I can create a compilation of me throwing a coin and the only sides that show are head, even 20 times in a row. Does that mean that head is the "OP" side?

Farming at someone else's expense is bannable. So forcing someone who doesn't want to farm to farm, for example, or working with the killer to unhook someone so they can instantly down them and hook them repeatedly. Or an example I see a lot of, a guy just wants to do generators but the killer wants to farm so he'll just keep grabbing them off the generator and forcing them to farm.

Nobody cares if the game starts a man down so y'all farm and get some points. If your farming becomes griefing, that's when it's a problem.

The only thing I wonder about this, how is the support supposed to determine whether the survivors farmed with the killer intentionally and then just reported him afterwards or whether they have been forced to?

  • Sounds like you need a break from DBD.
The devs suggest swiching to the other role or to play other games like civilization if you are too annoyed by the broken game mechanics

actually the other killers need to lifted up to the billy lvl

There's a difference between applying map pressure and crossing the whole map in under 8 seconds. But sure, if you really think all the other killers should have that kind of mobility, i'm sure Satan can make a lil room in hell just for that.

Yes that difference is what makes a killer viable or unviable.
    Allow me one question though:
Why do you play the weak role in an asymetrical horror game when you dont want to verse powerful killers?

  • @Peanits said:
I don't think anyone should be able to control their rank. Lowering your rank for easier matches means you're making the match worse for the people you're going against (on either side). That means that the people you're going against are going to have a miserable time playing against someone who should be a higher rank. Not to mention that while you're deranking, you're ruining the game for the other four people in the lobby.

The rank system should more accurately reflect your rank, though. In an even match, you shouldn't feel like you're getting stomped. The emblem system is always being balanced to be more accurate, so hopefully one day rank will be a better representation of skill.

I feel like removing the safety pip would be a great step in the right direction. It would make it easier for people to derank back to a rank that they're comfortable in. I find it to be too easy to safety pip, meaning that you're eventually going to rank up on average (you have to do extremely poorly to de-pip). The skill levels at rank 1 vary wildly because of it. You'll have some people who well deserve it, and you'll have others that'll leave you wondering how they got past rank 19.

Realistically speaking, rank 1 should mean "best of the best". I don't mean this in a rude way, but we're not all the best of the best. A lot of the people at rank 1 on both sides just shouldn't be there, so I get why it's frustrating. In the perfect world, you should have a challenging but fair match at whatever rank you're at.

I do not, however, think deranking is excusable. That just takes the issue you have and dumps it on other people instead.

Thats exactly what I wish we would have in DBD. But for that to happen, the game has to be balanced around high lvl gameplay too because in its current state it would be completely broken at the actual "rank 1 lvl"

Why not simply fix the actual problem?

How do you fix the problem?

Well, other than remove (or allow Killers to opt-out of) Survive With Friends.

Every time I get a SWF group and none have Obsession perks, they knows I have 1 or more Osbession perks and the Obsessed will d/c to render my perks null.

I mean, they could also just add an Obsession to every match, perks used or not, then just ban the frequent disconnecters.

Punish Dcing, its so simple that every other developer has figured out that this is necessary.

A dc shoudl result in an instant queue time punishment that increases the more you DC, thats how most competitive games handle this problem

It would also help if a dc equaled a full hooking (but I think it's just short of that value. So dcing punishes a Killer, too.)

But yeah, the Obsession should change to someone in a match should the Obsession disconnect. It's the only fair thing to do.
I get Dying Light works if the Survivor runs away like a wuss but no other Obsession perk works once someone wusses out. If they see you're not Meyers, they bail and the Killer is screwed.

As a killer main I couldnt care less about a minor BP loss if Dcing wouldnt occur literally every second game at least.
Just punish Dcing and I will be fine knowing that the survivor has to wait now for his ragequit

  • Doesnt matter because history has shown that it will most liekly be another unviable killer that will vanish after a few weeks.

And you shouldn't be able to stay there by doing nothing either.

Yeah it would be nice to have a proper ranking system like other competitive games, but then they would need to offer a casual mode too.

But assumign they would do this, we would have a serious problem. The problem is that only the good survivors would be able to rank up, they would actually need to tryhard, play SWF etc.
Those games would be very annoying/frustrating to play as killer (except nurse).

I guess most players would abandon the ranked mode soon because of the balance issues and play casual instead (pretty much like now)

Killers are too weak. When you have survivors able to taunt and t-bag a rank 1 Myers/Leatherface theres something seriously wrong with the game.. You go to look at their perks after match: Dead Hard, Self Care, Adrenaline and Decisive.. they take flash lights and micro spam them at you taunting you. This isnt fun gameplay. Killers are suppose to be scary not play things for the survivors to taunt. Fix your game

When survivors use the tools available to them and know how the game works and memorize the common loops, there is nothing to fear anymore unless its a nurse.

    So, a legitimate question here.

For two games (out of 30+) as a killer, I have been accused of lag switching. I know and understand what lag switching is, but it is something that I do not do. I am sure people will be like "yeah whatever," but this is something I am shooting towards vets of the game (I only have 100 hours on this, so I am fairly "new").

Is my internet connection seriously that bad? I am hard lined into my modem and the only thing that's off is my wife is watching Netflix during this time. Does the computer have something to do with this? Or is it Internet only? This ironically only happens with my Hag games (as I am a Hag main) where I am able to teleport and swat people fairly quickly. Are survivors just being whiners or is something actually off about my connection? Two games out of thirty plus seems fairly strange to me (especially when I get stomped by a SWF group), but I am hoping you guys will have a few answers for me.

Salty survivors will always accuse you of laggswitching when there wasnt a perfect 20ms connection.
Depends on your download volume, but in fact netflix can indeed affect your multiplayer experience.

Lets put it this way, are you able to play any other multiplayer game while your wife watchs netflix? If the answer is yes and you dont teleport around during the stream, then it should be fine.

As the title says, it truly is. So, as a brand new player at Rank 20, I tried to play tonight and there were far too many lobbies where the Survivors popped in with Bloody Clothing. Yeah, it's nice: The vets could derank to Rank 15 and then get the reset into the grey ranks by being lowered to Rank 17. Easy matches and bloodpoints.

Or, even without reset, they can easily be Veteran Killers who decided to spend bloodpoints to level up a Survivor and Prestige them before changing sides.

Either way, nothing like balance, even balance for an obviously casual game, where folks can be in the grey ranks with new players with complete Perk, Add-On, and Offering loadouts already established.

I'm all for chewing glass and learning a new game, but this set-up is completely asinine. I can't believe a Game Development Studio would have actually sent a game live, never mind live for 2+ years, with this kind of stuff allowed.

And yeah, I know: Just don't play for about a week and let all those folks climb back up. But when a new player has to not play because the Game Development Studio designs in such a ######### way, there is a problem. Nothing like sending new players off to play someone else's game for a spell. Never mind doing so every damned month.

This is truly one of the most new player unfriendly games I have played in a long time, and I've been gaming a long time.

DBD was developed for casual players. I believe the devs didnt simply think about players trying to play competitively, and thats basically the reason for all the problems of DBD.

The whole rank system is a big joke and the monthly resets are part of that

    Yes I ######### about dcig
    I don't dc btw

And btw, derankIng is intended and the devs actually support the idea by supporting streamers known for doing this regularly (even by dcig )

It always starts with minor changes. Once they have opened the door "camping is bad, punish it", it will be too late to close it again.
The new unhook invulnerability is a very good example

Wow, a mechanic that is barely noticeable and works for a second. I am completely shocked.

There's a difference between punishing something and discouraging it. Example: BBQ. The perk doesn't punish you for camping but encourages you to go after survivors away from hook.

If you care about rank (lul), then the emblems discourage you from camping. You're still able to [BAD WORD] camp regardless.

I thought that you, outta all the posters on this forum, would be for this change considering you like sticking to lower ranks.

Of camping will still be possible. BBQ is a good example how to discourage because it makes chasing other survivors easier.

Doesn't change the fact that for those who care about emblems (lul) the mechanic from the ptb is punishment a

Yes there are killers that only camp to annoy survivors.
Just like there are survivors that try to annoy killers as much as possible with tbagging bodyblocking etc etc.

I dont like to play against such players, but clearly its part of the game and the devs even support this.

What annoys me most however is that "survivor toxicity" is somethign that is celebrated, especially on twitch but when a killer behaves "toxic", then this is something that ruins fun and has to be removed from the game.

And you cant deny that their current idea punishes killer that play normally. After the gates have been opened, there is literally nothing you can do besides from camping unless you have noed (oh god such a toxic killer btw)

I've said several times I support the idea of the penalty not being added if there is 1/0 gens left, This means if you camp at the start of the game you will be punished, at end game it wont matter.

Considering you all like to make out like all gens are done in 10 second that means no penalty will be added.

again, bodyblocking is rewarded with points & achievements, it's always been part of the game survivors are just more aware of it now.

and getting upsetti spaghetti over tbagging, like tbagging has been around for decades, if it actually physically upset you I suggest you play something else other than online multiplayer games.

Ah yeah the argument "just ignore it".
I wonder why that doesnt apply to camping though. You can always ######### on hook if you are camped.
And before you tell me that this screws over your team, survivors DC way more frequently and dont bother abotu screwing their mates, yet DCing is fine?

Personally I dont give the slightest ######### about the actual change, you know that I dont want to rank up anyway
But by introducing this slight emblem punishment, the devs open the door "camping is punishable, bad and nto allowed anymore" and I fear that we will see some more severe changes soon

I almost forgot that this perk exists.... I am not sure whether I have actually seen any killer using it so far when I played survivor..... pretty good design

I use it, sometimes really fun matches result because of that. Survivors running around not finding their downed mates or the ones on a hook :)

    At what rank?
You just gave me an idea.... might wanna try this with a slugging build
