Here’s the thing people have to remember, and I mean, REALLY remember, is this. Though it may not seem like it, places like the DBD Reddit, forums, Twitter or whatever, are the vocal minority. We have 20 million players and growing but, when it comes to these sites, the numbers can be very bloated. Just think of how many people that have created a account on these sites to comment or talk like once or twice and that’s it. Yeah, the forums have a lot of members on it but, once again, I see a LOT of repeat people discussing topics. That’s like seeing the polls section because, as neat as they are, I see quite a few of the same people popping up in those polls.
Too get to your question though, yeah, he’s pretty divisive on these sites, though, yet again, I still personally believe it’s just the vocal minority arguing with each other while the silent majority would just be happy with another cool chapter. We can make arguments both for and against that idea all day so I won’t go further into that. Some counter arguments against him have already been brought up, such as the FNAF community acts like children. Although, in my opinion, that’s every “community” that has ever existed and will exist in the future. Every single one of them as their bad apples, trust me, this community isn’t any saint either, hell, some of the replies in this thread can attest to just how childish it can be. Just look at how the community acted when pops time was getting changed.
Another one is that some just don’t find it scary and, that’s fine. Just remember this though, horror is up there as being one of the most subjective topics ever, right up there with comedy. What will be scary to me will not be scary to you. I’m scarred of heights, some would say that’s a ludicrous thing to be scared of and that’s ok, as long as they see why I would be then that’s fine. Others are scared of spiders and, though I’m not scared of them, I can see why. A good friend of mine is absolutely terrified of animatronics, can’t stand them and some would make fun of her for it but, once again, we are all scared of different things.
Now, some say they want other horror characters in first and, once again, that’s fine, we all have characters we’d like to see added first but saying it would be a waste of time and money or that he isn’t iconic enough for dbd is a bit harsh imo. I have said this time and time again, it is not OUR game, it is BHVR’s game. What they see as a good fit for their game is up for them to decide to pour they’re money and effort into, that decision just won’t ever be made by us. Also, what is “iconic” is a very wishy washy blanket statement. Some are indisputable, Jason or Myers as a example, they are absolutely iconic characters that will always be around in one way or another. However, are characters like Candyman or Pumpkinhead on that level? I personally don’t think so and that raises another issue. There are different levels of iconic.
One final one I see people bring up a lot is that they got sick of it with just how much it keeps on getting brought back up and, yeah, don’t have much to say on that one because it definitely gets annoying. Though, I personally don’t find it much more annoying then when Candyman was getting talked about constantly at one point or the never ending topics like NOED OP, DS OP, killers toxic, survivors are toxic, I’m quitting the game blah blah blah.
Anyways, that’s my TED talk and I’ll just say this, everyone has a right to their opinions. Some will say they don’t want it while others, like myself, will sit there and say we do, just like ANY other licensed chapter that is brought up. Can we please just not be a ass to each other for different opinions or other communities though? Honestly, I think @StibbityStabbity and @APoipleTurtle are very good examples at making your points heard but not being rude about it. Props to the both of you and the rest being nice as well. :)

You missed like, every single one of actual significance. All the ones you put in the poll options are the minor league options (Nemesis / Wendigo), and / or have significant problems (Chucky / Jack Torrence), and / or serious opposition to their inclusion (Springtrap).
Where's the Xenomorph from Alien? Pennywise? Candyman? Pinhead? Predator? All of these I feel are infinitely and universally more well liked and wanted than anybody in the poll options.
And I know you said you weren't adding Jason to the list because of the problems of the Lawsuit but characters like Chucky have their own problems too, so OP already made a poll that isn't completely based on the most realistic options in the first place.
First, Nemesis is most certainly not minor league, whatsoever. He comes from arguably one of, if not the MOST popular gaming horror franchise out there and he’s most certainly a recognizable character. Once again, arguably, the MOST recognizable enemy/boss from that series alongside Mr. X. I’ve also seen plenty of people asking for a Resi chapter. The wendigo I do have to agree with though, it’s not talked about as much plus, the real big issue is Sony on that one. The only big problem with Chucky is his height and they would most certainly find a way around that if they got him in. Probably through levitation and possession or something. I do agree with Jack though. He’s got the problem of literally just being a guy who went crazy though they gave a power to Legion. No, the real big issue is Stephen, he just doesn’t see the value in crossing over with games.
Now, I highly disagree about Springtrap, because, simply, we will NEVER be able to fully pinpoint just how the community is going to react. You can say they’d be opposed while I can sit here and say that the forums and Reddit or whatever, though it may not seem like it, are actually a very vocal minority. Keep in mind, there are 20 million players that play dbd and, it continues to grow. So, who are we to say just how those people would react? Once again, anyone could say that the majority of the community would be outraged but I could say that the vocal minority would but the majority would be just fine and happy with the addition.
For the rest of those picks, first, there’s only so many options they allow on a poll, which, they should fix but ultimately, characters have major ups and downs when it comes to talking points. While yes, some are definitely more accepted, such as characters like Jason, I still see some saying that they’d rather NOT see those characters or find ways to “debunk” those picks. Such as Predator, it would make since yes, to a degree but they haven’t taken the plunge into heavy sci-fi yet, which, I view Predator more as action sci-fi then horror, plus, he has his own game that still relatively new, also, I’ll be honest, I barely see Predator talked about much. The xeno is always in high demand but, once again, the predator game would probably be the first place we’d see the xeno guess star in. Now, for Candy,an and Pinhead, omce again, in MY experience, I’ve seen a resounding “meh” to “they make sense to be added” with a few “I’d love their inclusion” thrown in there. Yet again, it’s what I’ve seen and like I previously said, we just don’t know what the greater consensus is on some of these characters is besides Jason, Pennywise and, debatably Xeno.
Once again, I disagree, these are ALL realistic options. Could’ve OP added a couple more? Sure could but to say “OP already made a poll that isn't completely based on the most realistic options in the first place” that’s a bit harsh. A unrealistic option would be someone like Jeepers Creepers, for obvious reasons if you know the backstory about the director. Now THAT’S a unrealistic option.
Anyways, that’s my TED talk and, yeah, I have a LOT to say on licenses! lol

Well, if we are going by leaks then it’s not licensed but, at this point, they probably know people look for that stuff so their probably actively screwing with those people now. For now though, I’m just going to say it’s original.

Love these posts but...I sadly just can’t vote in them because, in general, I’d be happy with almost any licensed characters being included. Out of these picks though, my top three would probably be Nemesis, Springtrap and Trager. Never cared for Chucky much and, I’m sorry because it would be a super cool chapter but Until Dawn is a Sony property, meaning that it would have to be a PlayStation exclusive. The absolute MOST they would do is also release it on pc, highly unlikely though. That said, I could definitely see them releasing their own(actual) wendigo eventually.

As per usual, you did a absolutely amazing job summarizing this stream but, that’s to be expected.
I do find it strange that about 30 to 40 minutes of this stream was about licensing while 10 minutes was dedicated to the Halloween event. Doesn’t really bother me much because I love hearing them talk licenses but it is strange.

Let’s just say, I’m a huge fan of licensed content. There’s so many that I’d like to see in the game. This is in no particular order, like, at all.
- Nemesis/RE3
- Jason/f13
- Xenomorph/Alien
- Springtrap
- Death Angles/A Quiet Place
- Clock Tower
- The Ring
- The Grudge
- Psycho
- The Thing
- Candyman
- Reanimator
- Creature From The Black Lagoon
And much much more, there’s really only one license that’s a hard “absolutely not” from me. That’s Jeepers Creepers.

I’ve only played Infinite but I’ve seen plenty played of 1 and 2 but I absolutely love the worlds that they’ve built and the characters they’ve made. With that said though, I don’t really have any attachment with Bioshock but sure, I’d like to see it, especially if it makes others happy.

As much as I want this, I just don’t see this happening for right now. I know that resistance is basically 99.9% dead now but, licensed deals can take over a entire YEAR to make happen so we’d probably be seeing by late next year or early 2022. Even if both parties agreed 100% on every term they both had, there’d still be some legal mambo jumbo to go through to delay the release.

Be it licensed or original, doesn’t matter to me but I’d love to see another infection type killer but one that if a survivor fully succumbs to the virus, they transform into the killers monster/zombie minions.

Here’s how I personally see it.
1) Sure, Outlast would be cool. As long as it was Outlast 1 and NOT Outlast 2. Could definitely see someone like Chris Walker or Trager, my only question is, would be their unique powers? They’re just insane people, although, that said, you could say the same exact thing about Ghostface.
2) Sure, Candyman is alright, not my first pick because I’m definitely not attached to the franchise. The first movie was good though and I love Tony Todd, that would be the actual selling point to me.
3) Absolutely, hands down, one of my DREAM chapters. Not to mention, the last great classic slasher villain being in with the rest of the slashstreet gang? Sounds good to me. :)
4) Springtrap would be arguably one of the most unique characters they could add, right next to Demogorgan. So, I’d honestly love to see it because I’m getting bored of the human styled killers again and really want to see a shake up again on killers.
5) As much as I’d enjoy a SCP chapter, CC basically completely destroys all hope for that. :(
6) Meh, never really cared for Chucky to be completely honest so I wouldn’t be jumping over any moons seeing a Child’s Play chapter being added. With that said, I’d be happy for the people who DO want it in the game.
7) Resident Evil, it’s my absolute dream chapter to see and with Resistance coming to a end very soon, I could DEFINITELY see it happening in the future.

I’m stuck between making them paragraphs or making them full chapters still. I think it all depends on the level of “obscure” or “cult” they are. I think something like a Pumpkinhead license deal could be made a full chapter but something like Manic Cop would be a paragraph if ever considered.

When it comes to licensed content there’s just SO MUCH I would want in the game if I where to sit here and list them I’d be here for a good 5 minutes I’d say just listing licensed content I’d want.
For a original though, I’d like another infection type of killer that could actually transform another survivor into one of their monster minions.

I’m so sorry to hear this you guys, I may have had very little interaction with him but the little I did, it was always a positive one and I’ve always seen some great conversation and yet again, it was always nice. @GoodBoyKaru, if you’d like someone to talk with, I’m here but I truly am sorry for your loss.

Well, I thought I’d update this post with a couple more that I’d personally not want. That being anything from Wrong Turn, Chucky and Pinhead. Wrong Turn is just a all around terrible series if I’m being honest and I just don’t have a personal care for Chucky or Pinhead. I’d be happy for those who did want them though and these choices don’t boil my blood like Jeepers Creepers does.

I’m quite happy with a majority of licenses they could grab, Springtrap being no exception. I think if he was added he could bring something really unique, plus, I’m kind of tired of the human killers again. Could use a unique change up again like a robotic killer.
The only time I think I would ever get to a “1” level is if it was Jeepers Creepers. Now THAT would make me outright quit the game.

I have a love hate relationship with these types of polls. On one hand, I love that they exist and I love seeing the support for licensed characters. On the other hand though, I hate them because there’s a lot who I want to vote for but just can’t pick. :(

Definitely not, the hype for Springtrap started WAY too soon to become a chapter by December. Even if both BHVR and Scott had a meeting and they both said yes with giving free control and Scott's blessing, they'd still have legal mumbo jumbo to go through. It would be, at the absolute earliest, by chapter 19 but more likely to be their anniversary chapter IF it was to be a thing.

We have so little time in this world and a lot of us come to regret so many of our choices that we make to the point we begin to hate ourselves and everything, everyone around us. So when I see stuff like this when someone is at the end but refuses to give up on their own happiness and can STILL find a way to bring the same happiness to others, warms my heart. Teasers could honestly be coming out as soon as 9 or 10 days if not sooner because the devs like to tweet cryptic hints about the teasers themselves.

I thought a lot of people quite liked the Silent Hill chapter, I did and I never played Silent Hill outside of watching a few videos.
Quite a few were indeed happy but I also saw PLENTY of people on the forums and especially in the chat from the initial anniversary stream being like "######### IS THIS #########?!?" or something along the lines of "this was your big anniversary chapter, pathetic." basically, people wanted a Juggernaut of a horror franchise and when they didn't get it, well, they definitely made their voices heard.
