Until rank actually matters I could care less about pips. It's never been a testament to skill, it's never mattered in matchmaking cause that's already a disaster, it gives you nothing and gets reset monthly. All it does is let red rank players feel like their opinion carries more weight than anyone elses.
-
You'll just get almost exclusively 1-2 survivors used constantly then. The same thing Survivors complain about when facing exclusively Nurse and Billy. (Plus unless it comes with a downside too that's just a direct buff to survivors as a whole and that's not the right direction to go in when trying to balance the game
-
Rank rewards. All this effort going in to fixing the ranking system means absolutely nothing when rank has no purpose.
-
As cliche as it is to say, Legion. Not single aspect about them I like. From the game to the forums, everything about Legion has been insufferable.

Hey, the links are nothing to worry about. They used a chinese website to translate it to English and it most likely embed in their post. I checked it out, they are not malicious links.
Oohh that makes sense. Thank you for the clarification!

That's an awful lot of links there my guy

Personally, this blurring the lines between male and female doesn't feel right. Can people be born gay? Absolutely. Are women as good as men? You bet your ass they are. My Mother is the strongest woman I know, and my dad isn't worth #########. But men becoming women? Women becoming men? Sex change operations? All this bickering over public restrooms? Christ. Only humans, can take something simple, and complicate the hell out of it. Isn't the world complicated enough, without blurring the lines between man and woman? What happened to just being happy with what you were given?
Gender is a social construct and the only lines being blurred are ones we made in the first place. Some labels aren't right for some people and it's no one else's place to tell them otherwise.
-
Do you use headphones for the game? Assuming yes, like everyone's said it's all about prediction and sound. If you can wait until the survivor is in an area with less places they can go that can be super helpful. If Stridor makes you confused it'd be better to take it off. Maybe try Predator?
-
Clown. I don't find myself using him or his perks at all. I know they're good but not for my playstyle. Alternatively Legion for obvious reasons.
-
Disfigured Ear. The amount of times I run that and manage to take survivors by surprise makes it my favorite hag add-on. Surprised there's not more things in the game that cause deafness
-
If your lobby is lasting that long it's better to back out and open a new one. Rank 1 sucks tho, agreed. Almost forces you to throw games now.

Dwight could get it

This is not bait, his counter is his power, the speed while using his power increases his lunge distance, speed can mess up any killer, especially legion, when…
Someone familiar with his speed can become accustomed to it and suddenly it's no longer a problem to them

@Hoodied said:
None of these are good ideas, because when they learn of the second perk, they will go to vaults and pure jukes
The escape one is terrible, because survivors escape before getting hit
I disagree with the perk in general, but I imagine it's for the purpose of survivors not being able to just approach the killer at the hatch knowing they essentially have a free win as long as they don't make the first move.
-
@AshleyWB said:
@ClogWench except it isn't skill vs skill. Especially when there is a timer until all gens are done and perks like adrenaline, deliverance, bt etc discounting your 'victory' of winning the Chase.
The killer has no mindgame potential if the survivor can clearly see the red stain through obstacles. Survivors can keep killers busy for ages which is why they are often left alone and killer defends objectives instead.
You can moonwalk, you can route survivors into areas without pallets, you have options. And as said before, a lot of killers have tools to use against looping. I agree it's more of an issue for those that don't but that's a flaw of individual killer design.
-
@AshleyWB said:
Personally if you think survivors should be untouchable if they are able to loop well, that's not balanced especially so when the killer is doing their all to catch them.
Map design is too imbalanced a lot if the time. Literally 90% of walls have gaps to see the red stain through so even the simplest loop you can be at for a minimum 10 seconds with little effort.
What I've been trying to say is they're not untouchable. You can outplay them. If they're that God tier at looping it becomes skill vs skill. Through mindgames and routing you can outplay even skilled loopers.
-
I'd recommend bond, balanced landing, Adrenaline and self care. Of course self care is in a weird position so possibly borrowed time in its place.

This conversation was going so well, but you and the other guy decided to pull out that survivor meme to handwave away any and all complaints.
I'll wait for people who can address the arguments being put forth without assuming anything about my stance.
I've been giving you proper arguments this whole time, you just refuse to budge on the notion that breaking chase is giving the survivor a free win.

Giving a survivor the opportunity to put themselves in a vulnerable position is not a counter to anything. It only works if the survivor purposefully places themselves in that position, and that's just taking advantage of a mistake.
Breaking the chase is losing the chase. The killer gets an emblem penalty, while the survivor is rewarded.
Again, what are the counters to looping? Actual counters, meaning things that work against looping.
It sounds like you feel entitled to win a chase every time. There might not be a 100% surefire works-every-time counter but there rarely is for most things. That said there's perks, killer abilities and mind games that help get around looping. If survivors looping you is your weakness, try using a killer with a better skill for countering it. And if you're extremely stubborn and absolutely refuse to break chase, take note of where broken pallets are and try to direct the survivor towards those areas. The side of a pallet you're on when you break it can better determine which direction you force the Survivor to run to.

@jackmadrox honestly, I agree, your sexuality shouldn't be the highlight of your personality, and that's coming from a gay dude
For some people that facet of their identity is more important than it is to others. You don't have to make it the forefront of your personality but it doesn't harm you if someone else chooses to.

It's not as gory but I think Doctor electrocuting and Nurse suffocating survivors is a lot more brutal than most, partially cause they're unique and don't just use blood for shock value. Besides those, Leatherface has a pretty nasty one, if only because the though of getting my head bludgeoned with a hammer is not a pleasant one

I didn't ask how to get the looper into a more vulnerable scenario; I asked how to counter looping. Purposefully losing the chase isn't a counter to looping any more than killing yourself on the hook is a counter to camping.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/410485#Comment_410485
Again, you think it's OK for "good survivors" to force the killer into an unwinnable situation. I do not, because survivors aren't supposed to be that powerful.
Funny story: even if a survivor runs in a straight line, chases can still last for a full minute, depending on when they start running. At 10 meters, with Sprint Burst, chases last some 40 seconds, IIRC.
You would be in the minority. Most people, and rightly so, would just stop playing and complain nonstop.
Forcing a survivor to have to put themselves in a more vulnerable position does directly counters their strategy of looping you constantly. Sure there's no "stop loop" button the killer can press but you do have the ability to win. Once again, breaking chase is not conceding defeat. It's a tactical move to work around a survivors greatest strength.
-
In general the DC of a survivor should give the killer the equivalent effect of a death hook (points and hook stacks for BBQ and Lullaby) and survivors the equivalent of an unhook(and possibly heal).

You mean like showing auras of BBQ before they got universally nerfed by lockers?
Or perks like Hex: Devour Hope that gets cleansed before the first hook?
Only Make your Choice remains on top of my head...but paradoxically you want to leave to trigger it, but still be around to profit from it...so indirectly promotes longer range camping.
There's also the problem that all these anti camp perks are locked behind paywalls. Killers need to pay money(or in Devours case a ridiculous amount of shards) just for a subpar incentive to not camp .

Letting survivors go is not solid advice, especially since every survivor and their mother knows how to loop. In what universe is it considered "solid advice" to purposefully lose? Do you actually think that's good advice? If the devs introduced a new killer whose ability was to instantly put all survivors on the hook, would you accept "just give up" as "solid advice"?
No one's saying to let them go. If you focus on a survivor who isn't as god tier at abusing loops you can use that as a means of getting the looper into a more vulnerable position. Breaking chase isn't giving up. A good killer knows when to to break chase and work on killing other survivors instead of wasting their time in a losing fight.

No, I don't main Nurse. I rarely play her, in fact.
What is the counterplay to a survivor who knows how to exploit map design to the point that the least bad option for the killer is to hand them a free escape?
Focus on weaker survivors and don't commit to a chase you can't win. Or rely on mind games. There's several perks and killers that have their own ways of dealing with looping too. I understand when there were 20something pallets per map and the pallet vacuum issue that it was broken but that's not the case anymore.
-
I was ready for this to be a proposed nerf but yeah I'm cool with this.
-
I think the hatch needs a rework, though closing it isn't necessarily the best option. And a perk is a terrible option.
-
If you know 1-2 other survivors are nearby trying to rescue, it's honestly not sure bad strategy since it's keeping multiple people busy and off gens. Yeah someone's out doing them but even if you're not face camping you can't keep every gen on lockdown. Obviously this isn't always the case though

Looping is a problem and was never intended to be a core mechanic for survival. It has all the characteristics of an exploit, except that the developers changed their minds on calling it an exploit.
And while I understand it's annoying, it's something the game has since further adapted to. I honestly don't see it as a problem now
-
Ruin absolutely should not be changed. At most change the description to better match the effect but the effect shouldn't be weakened by that. Without it, the Hex aspect suddenly becomes far too big of a downside for very little effect.
-
It's already arguably the strongest as long as you don't just use it carelessly
-
People act like looping is a problem but that's literally a core mechanic for survival. It doesn't need to be, nor will it ever be, "fixed".

The obsession perks ( survivors side ) have low risk and reward the devs by punting the obsession mechanic they think is a drawback for the perk. The obsessions perks ask for nothing and give to much. The new DC even with the new drawback it's powerful and even when is not in place can create mind game for no reason. The OoO it's very good perks for survivors than know how to loop. So when thee are no limit or the limit are low same perks become powerful.
The downside is the risk of being targeted more. DS is balanced, OoO has a huge drawback and does not come interesting play once you're in a chase. Only mettle of man needs alteration.
-
7/10, could be interesting if tactfully done and not a bad representation of schizophrenia
19 gay men and one straight man stay on an island and every week they have to vote off one person trying to weed out the straight man, with the plot twist being that they're all straight and trying to make themselves seem like they're not so they can win the Grand prize
Survivor-esque reality tv show, 16 and up
-
T walls are really good for avoiding her at. And just remember that throwing down a pallet while her arm is raised is always a bad idea. Just move unpredictably and take sharp corners a lot

You mean how every killer punished for thing out of their control ? Because will make the game more fair .
I truly can't understand why you seem to think the problem lies in the obsession aspect and you still haven't given me a single valid reason why it should be changed.
-
Character design is top tier. They take a concept and put a unique spin on it and the last 4 characters have all turned out looking absolutely amazing in their own ways.

And how this idea punishes survivors? they still can use they perks just no 100 % power.
Why should a survivor be punished with a weak iteration of their perk because of something out of their control? The problem isn't the obsession aspect, it's just MoM

5 is infinite now? Who'da thunk

Killer paragraphs are definitely harder to make since you gotta make an entire character for it instead of just perks
-
@DarkGGhost said:
@Carpemortum @ClogWench how about my ather idea ?
Also bad, still punishes survivors because the killer didn't bring one of a small handful of perks. Literally the only thing that needs a change is MoM specifically.

As Freddy, what I like to do is let the survivor wake up if they're still in dream state and I wasn't initially going after them, put them back in the dream transition, mindgame the transition, then try for a hit right as the transition ends to get a Dream Chaser hit. Just do that for every hit that would put them in the dying state. Then I cry as all 4 run out the exit gate, but I get the satisfaction of knowing that I adapted to MoM like the survivor mains and high tier killer mains insisted I could.
Once they fix it, that won't work anymore either. The only counters will be alternate damage and oneshots

My luckiest match was on a autohaven against a doctor and he was the worst killer I had ever faced. I don't know how the other survivors were going down to him but I was running from him most of the match. I got 2 gens done in between chases while the others did nothing but hide. He killed off the first 2 and found the third and downed them. He was slugging for the 4k and found me right after he downed the Claudette. I ran him for the longest time and went down right as Claudette bled out and hatch spawned and opened under me and I jumped in before he could pick me up. The killer was so mad that he messaged me saying he deserved that 4k when he didn't deserve any kills, he was horrible and played like trash. I wasn't hooked even once all match and I told the doc gg as in get good lmao...
Idk what it is about Docs but they always seem to be the worst players
