DS is weak if you use at the start of the game and a lot stronger ( from the old one) in the midgame/endgame.

OoO can be used from SWF and give even more advance to the survivors and if you have a problem hide for same second in the lockers.

    Only Sole Survivor is bad.

So no the problem is not only the MoM.

DS is balanced right now, probably the best place it's ever been. And OoO let's the killer see the obsession as well which is a hefty downside. Doesn't make it a bad perk, but it's one with a drawback. Once again, there's no purpose to removing the concept of the obsession from these perks and nothing you've said so far has supported your suggestion at all.

Feels bad tho don't go up against alot of hags on ps4 even before mom it's a damn shame also will kill the hag cosmetic coming also even though I'm not that impressed by it tbh

Yeah frankly the new cosmetic looks.... bad. Especially in contrast to mud medusa which is my favorite skin in the game

Let's say you right what will be the best action to minimaze the damage from all th obsession perk survivor have, will give a duff to the obession will use my first idea what ?

"All the obsession perks survivors have" oh get over it, it's one. Only one is a problem here and it's MoM. That doesn't warrant an overhaul to the obsession concept.

  • @DarkGGhost said:

Look if the killer run rancor the obsession will know it the moment the exit power up so he/she only need to hide so if obsession dies from rancor that is a mistake from the survivor side.

And it negatively impacts them because they have to be stealthy. They can't tank hits for last minute saves, they can't face the killer at all endgame. That's a negative impact. Plus sometimes the last gen pops while you're in a chase already

  • Some obsession perks work differently based on if you're the obsession or not. Mettle of Man should arguably be one of those I'll agree, but your suggestion for them removing the obsession concept is still pointless

  • @DarkGGhost said:

And leave them to do gens save hook and in the end escape so you lose 1 of 4 things you can do and win the other 3 so bad.

That's assuming they live to escape. Plus Rancor is directly bad for the obsession

  • @DarkGGhost said:

Only when he/she run Dying Light or remember me every other perks force it him to the go of the obsession

Missing the point. There's no reason to make a change to the obsession concept overall

  • @DarkGGhost said:

@Poweas , @ClogWench ok what is the downside to be the obsession ? Why obession perks give so much and ask so little back ?

The only two survivor ones we should consider are MoM and DS. DS is in a good place right now. MoM is the only one I feel needs a change. Which means a change to all obsession perks would be the wrong direction. The big downside is the risk that the killer will have an obsession perk, which is usually worst for the obsession in most instances.

  • I don't think survivor perks should be useless just because the killer doesn't have one of ..... what, 5 perks? 6 maybe?

  • Thanks that's useful! And yeah afaik hag currently doesn't proc MoM after a teleport but they're looking at fixing that and I figure I'd like to be prepared.

This is gotten super old so I'm just gonna start posting this for every new NOED thread. For everyone who thinks NOED is op/broken/unfair etc. You need to watch this and especially if you've not played the game since the perk was released.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfXsr4BL5B0

Listen i 100% agree that NOED is fine but you can't reasonably link a TydeTyme video and expect to be taken seriously.

  • @Kurisataru said:

I disagree, because you don't know who has mom and intentionally tunnel them unless you've played them before and recognize them, and we are only assuming for now only Ashes have MoM. So it will be an anti tunnel perk as soon as you can't detect who's using it.

I don't tunnel Ashes, I just try to hook them where if someone unhooks them and heals them, its going to be in a spot convenient for me to apply gen pressure if that makes sense. I'm still newish to killer but rank 10 survivor so i don't know yet how to explain what I'm doing as a killer. But MoM really does have counter play as a killer. We can't forget this is a game and we can't always win but I promise for killers strategy and decent perks that most high rank killers use anyway are enough for it.

We're quickly getting to a point where we assume everyone has it. Plus if you're the Obsession, it's more likely you have MoM than DS

  • I've had games where I spawn in swiping distance of a survivor. Generally I just look at them and walk away. But I know most killers would quickly capitalize on that

  • @jackmadrox said:

Killers should be able to kick the hatch shut if they find it first.

There's like a hundred threads talking about why that doesn't work. Tho it does need some rework tho

  • This would just reward already high tier players and further punish less experienced ones while overall making genrush worse. 0/10, looks bad scoob

  • It's a bug with the forum, this thread keeps popping up but with the same timestamp

  • Anything for tracking is useful. Whispers, M&A, Discordance, Surveillance, Spies from the Shadows, as well as perks like Ruin and BBQ.

There are killers that i find actual fun and decent but are useless to even try with because they're just "GGEZ GIT GUD TRASH KILLUR!" And honestly. this ain't a horror game. dbd is a rage-infueled game that needs to understand both sides instead of catering to just the rank 20s. they needa listen to the actual good survivors/killers of said game, Not just "OMG NERF DIS KILLER. HES OVERPOWERED AS HELL! WAAAAAAH!!!!" its how bad killer has gotten..

Tbh with the changes they've made to balance, it's rank 20s that suffer the most. No idea where you're getting the idea that it's the other way around

  • That's gamers in general. Every game has toxic players, every last game. DbD is no exception

  • You either die a killer or live long enough to see yourself become the survivor

  • A&W babey! Ambagas and wootbeer!

Yeah. but there are still too many Good pallets on said maps. strong loops around said maps that provided with said Rng makes it a stress job as a killer main. it amazes me that bhvr still caters to said rank 20s / Fog whisperers on dbd..

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/405955#Comment_405955

Blame bhvr for their proper imbalance to said dbd. They cater to survivors since 2.0 and it's stupid.

I'm not denying there's an imbalance. But you gotta assess what's actually a problem and whats your own shortcomings. If you refuse to do that it shows and you're not gonna be taken seriously. The devs have been putting in work to close the gap between roles and while it's not perfect yet you still need to acknowledge the changes that have been made. Redirect your energy into a direction that matters, or you just come off as an "entitled killer main" to a lot of people. Not a term I agree with but that's how you'll be perceived regardless.

  • @Chi said:

Rework Nurse and Hillbilly addons. It shouldn't affect their strength too much if certain addons were nerfed because their basekit is great. 3 blink nurse should be at the very least very rare. And her omegablink addons should have an actual downside to them.

Their add-ons should be ability changers instead of strengtheners. Hag is a good example of add-ons that fully modify how an ability works and changes that killers gameplay, which I think is a lot more interesting than add-ons that simply erase a weakness like Prayer Beads

  • @Verconissp said:

Not the way if you have terrible Rng on said map. and there's more than 10 pallets per map which is waaay more than it should offer..

This is why killer mains get a bad rep, compared to what it used to be this really isn't a lot.

  • @Verconissp said:

You forgot to put in Nerf pallets on All maps....it's literally catering to survivors at this point, making killers to go Nurse / Hillbilly / Spirit. It's not fun and it needs to change.

Aside from a few maps I honestly don't think pallets are too big of a deal anymore. They used to be a huge problem but the changes they've made this last year really show.

  • Playing Survivor against Fragrant Tombstone Myers, get downed vaulting out of a construction crane narrowly avoiding the Mori. Land on top of trap door. Last remaining teammate crouched nearby, ran over and used a key letting us both get out before Mikey could get us.

  • I'm taking a break after MoM dropped, and decided to pick up Borderlands for the first time and ngl Im really enjoying it. I like fps PvE games, and I appreciate that ammo isn't a limiting factor

  • It still baffles me that there's no real punishment for DCing a lot. I get that there's bans but when the devs are so vague on how that works it really doesn't have much impact

ain't that chief. it would be an overpowered buff. imagine cleansing a devour hope. then skip after 3 unhooks. you're exposed for the rest of the match. skip after 2 unhooks. you're mori-able and exposed for the rest of the match.

and i think it would break some of the perks like hex:haunted grounds.

Maybe have the post-cleanse effect be on a by-perk basis. HG wouldn't have anything, Devour Soap could have a timer of a minute or two, or stop after you're downed or hooked once.

  • @DwightsLifeMatters said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/405803#Comment_405803

Yeah, for example the effect remains for the survivor who destroyed it for the rest of the match.

I'm into that actually. Make survivors not immediately want to cleanse a totem. (Something haunted grounds failed to do)

I think everyone realizes the chase is the most fun in DBD as soon as they start playing. I doubt there is any other aspect of the game that is fun besides the chase. Maybe in swf when you work together to bully the killer but that is a different story, I am talking about my experience as a solo survivor here.

    @ClogWench

BBQ changed the game dramatically, it was a cause for sure. Survivors weren't countering it at all. I was going in range all the time but not my teammates, all games were #########, like they are now with the disconnects.

Survivors and killers will always adapt to dramatic changes, no matter if it's orthodox or not and it is important to foresee how they will adapt.

You mentioned Legion, survivors adapted by not healing+adrenaline. Same with BBQ, it changed the gameplay so much. Suddenly a killer that can teleport in a few seconds on the other side of the map was instantly in a chase after hooking. That was huge. Of course everyone started looping, what else you could do. On Billy the aura wasn't even gone by the time he got to the survivor.

If survivors weren't countering BBQ that's a fault of the players, not the perk. BBQ meant stealth was harder cause the killer had a general idea where you were, sure. Do you know how boring it is to play killer when you never see the survivor? BBQ only fixed problems, any new problems that emerged were solely because of survivors refusing to accept the counters it had and aren't reflective of the perks abilities whatsoever

not everything requires a change. for example. it's been 2 years since borrowed time arrived. and it's still a good anti-tunnel perk. yes it got nerfed. but then it got buffed and balanced.

noed? got nerfed and buffed. but it's still the same perk.

    " also "

delete the part about " being bad at the game ". etc.

if you didn't and said some ######### like " you're actually bad". go and flag me then.

and comments / posts in the forums doesn't mean skills. a lot of people can be in the forums from way ago and still bad at the game.

I think he means the part where you keep calling everyone idiot my dude

You didn't read what I said. I said ALL survivors.

Let me give you a short history lesson since I am probably one of the few that have been here since the beginning.

Before BBQ, there was this category of survivors called toxic. They looped the killer whole match and abused infinites, actual infinites. Obviously everyone hated them, normal survivors and killers alike, since no one was having fun. Killer was not having fun for sure, survivors were not interacting with the killer and there is no fun in that.

A lot of normal survivors, myself included, used to body block these individuals to help the killer catch them, so we can have a normal game.

After BBQ, at rank 1, all Billies and Nurses went apeshit with that perk. It was impossible to escape. There was no counter besides going in range, but teammates were not using it. So pretty much all matches were a disaster for survivors. The only matches when survivors managed to escape was when one of those toxic survivors that I mentioned above entered the lobby.

So it suddenly became obvious that the only way to adapt is to do what they were doing. I started looping, tru3talent started looping, everyone started looping and gen rushing. Also rank 1 dictates the playstyle so It spread like wildfire at all ranks.

If you check steam forums around 1 month after LF release, you will see there are loads of threads about looping, that were there before, sure, but not in such a large amount.

Sounds to me like it just gave people something to blame their playstyle on. Legion came out and the complaints about genrush tripled. Spirit came out and people started crying about NOED more than usual. Complaints come in waves on forums, that's just how it is. BBQ wasn't a cause, it was an excuse. And even in its prime it was never THAT good. Solid but far from the best perk. If not for the BP bonus it'd probably be middle tier at best.

hex totems meant to be a risk/reward. if they're not hexes. they would be the most op perks in the game. forever ruin. forever blindness. forever exposed (noed or devour).

they meant to be if the survivors didn't find them. you would benefit a lot from them.

    the most common example is

buffs to hex perks can be accepted. but making them permanent can be way too overpowered. (even if it was a nerfed version)

The problem comes with most of these perks having a bigger risk than the reward is worth. NOED is strong cause it has immediate pressure upon being activated and it only comes into play endgame. Ruin is strong out of sheer necessity. Every other one is mediocre to weak. And, in every case besides NOED, it's extremely common to see it get busted in the first minute of a trial. The devs can say they're improving totem spots all they want but if that's not reflecting in trials still then it means nothing.

  • @Sinner said:

Game went downhill when Leatherface was added with BBQ, that's what triggered the looping and gen rushing in all survivors and all the crap that followed was because of this one disaster perk.

Pretty sure those were all issues even before BBQ. And I can't see any correlation between the two either. Sounds like you just haven't made much attempt to counter it.

  • Cause sexuality and gender aren't inherently linked in that specific way. You can be designated female at birth, be attracted to guys, and still not identify as a woman. People aren't trans for the sake of being straight.

  • If MoM wasn't a thing then I could support this but given how often the two go together, Decisive Strike has no business getting a buff. On its own it's in a solid place already. But any alterations made to it here on out HAVE to be made with the synergy it has with MoM in mind.

  • Also unlike original BT, MoM doesn't have a bleedout timer. You just tank the hit with no problem

  • If it was we weak as survivor mains keep saying, they wouldn't be using it constantly. And honestly I also dodge Ash at this point. It quickly made playing killer lose all aspects of fun.

Seriously, everyone complaining about how long it is taking for this and that to come don't know how to program a game, hell, i don't know how to program a game and i know for damn sure it would take a long time to do certain things.

It's funny, all of you talking ######### about this game, still wasting your money on it, still waking up playing it, still losing sleep playing this game, not having a social life because you're playing it (As if you ever had one to begin with) just need to stop. Go outside and feel the sun on your skin and wind hit you in the face, take a break, go see your friends, for crying out loud do something instead of crying.

You are right. I hope ruin or BBQ & CHili show up in shrine soon.

If you build up the shards, I'd recommend getting Hag outright. She's a really strong killer and, of course, comes with Ruin.

  • As hag I'll swipe at the air and aim up. Kinda looks like waving

  • You can power through it but unless survivors are hitting every great skill check (unlikely if they aren't super experienced) then it's still slowing things down. And on trapper you need all the time you can buy

  • Honestly I don't blame people for wanting to leave lately, things are just getting progressively less enjoyable for a lot of players. Hopefully things change soon and people can start enjoying the game again

  • The problem is they have such little actual contact with their playerbase, and give so little information about big things going forward that yeah, everyone is restless and growing inpatient. We've barely had anything about Freddy, infinite loading screens are STILL a problem, and now we keep getting more frustrating elements added like Legion and MoM, and given their track record we won't hear a word about that for a long time. You can't keep screwing your players over, leave them in the dark, and expect them to stay patient for several years. Players have a right to be frustrated at this point.

  • Favorite pastime: making people angry by saying X character is gay/trans cause there's rarely proof otherwise

  • Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher, Third Seal and Save the Best for Last

  • Dwight cause he's the resident twink

  • My biggest problem with MoM is, assuming the survivor doesn't also have decisive strike, I find it encourages tunneling off the hook. Hit someone twice to down them, hook, they get unhooked and you smack em again before they can heal, that way you're getting 2 hook states out of the way before they can get MoM. Obviously not the best course of action but hard campers and tunnelers rarely take the best course anyway
