It's rare I ever get hit with it.

But not because that Hillbilly is skilled. A pro in any sport will make the game look easy when viewed from the sidelines.
This mentality is why killers are being balanced around brown ranks. Nerfing viable killers, even their good addons, so they are incapable of dealing with genrush teams.
No the hillbillys I'm referring to aren't that skilled. You don't need to be that good when you have an unlimited number of instadowns, minimal cooldown, and can cross the map in seconds. Hillbilly carries average players a long way.
You never see average players get carried that far with Spirit or Nurse.

Sad this is that I'm only using brown cooldown and reduced noise.
Real game-changing add-ons, you know?
I don't like using Billy because he feels like hacks. Just instadown one, sprint across the map, instadown another. Repeat until 4k.
It's the same reason I don't like using NOED.
It does make me question though why I bother sweating with low tier killers when I could just pick this guy and have such an easy time.

I have had a couple of infinite loadings over a few hours and I didn't get a penalty
Well hopefully it stays like that. However it wouldn't surprise me if it falsely counted it as a dc from time to time since nothing in this game works properly.
I think a lot of people would feel better about the penalties if the devs actually put effort into fixing their bugs rather than leaving them for months and shrugging their shoulders but nothing ever changes.
The fact that a game breaking bug which caused disconnect standoffs was in the game with the last penalty trial, and is still in there now with no fix in sight really speaks volumes as to where their priorities are. Hint: fixing bugs isn't bringing in the cash.

How often I run into those errors is maybe once every few days. Also seeing how I purposly dc'd from 4 matches today and have yet to get more than a 5 minute penalty I would have to admit I find your story of "23 matches" into a 6 hour soft ban to be pretty far fetched.
Listen we're not idiots on the forums, and you're not going to get the ability to DC for free back - it ruins too many games for other people, and other toxic people has abused it too much.
In his defense he was talking about the previous penalty trial which did lead to 6 hour bans.

Red survivor, not versing them as killer. I've generally taken a break from specifically because of matchmaking.
My first Hillbilly game was against full-toxic purples, as a low green. THEN went to destroy other greens.
It's just the way I see it, if we want to go on about "skill" and "learning a killer" I'd say as a guess, an hour in Billy is roughly worth 3 on Spirit and about 10 on Nurse.
And this is why they're against it. They don't want their ez mode killer nerfed. You can tell they struggle by how they make out killer is "literally impossible" to win now that Ruin got nerfed.
Just slap on Hillbilly, instasaw and NOED and you're guaranteed to have good results no matter what.

People getting DCed due to dedicated servers, having to disconnect from a game breaking bug (like the "stuck being healed bug", among many, MANY others), bug splats getting stuck in infinite loading screens and problems with getting penalties after a rank update error, are all things that are still happening and haven't been fixed since the last time they've done this test. And that's just the game itself. Sometimes ######### that's outside the game happens that's out of a user's control, whether it be the internet, the power, or an emergency, etc.
Last time during the test, I played 23 matches in a row and it still didn't clear me of my DC punishment. Went from a 1 hour soft ban, 23 matches without any problems, and then on the 24th the game doesn't load in and when I logged back into the game, I saw I had a 6 hour soft ban despite completing *23 matches*.
Unless they completely changed on how the ban penalty is cleared, then getting a long soft ban timer isn't going to be an "if", it's going to be a "when". But then it also runs the risk of it not being harsh enough where someone can just DC every other game and still only get slapped on the wrist.
It's ok. When they get personally affected by it then they'll run back to the forums singing a different tune. Then we can just dig up their old posts and say "told you so": 💁♀️

That really DOES sound imbalanced.
The survivors need to be good, the Hillbilly only needs to be average. Yup sounds balanced.

Haven't had it happen once. I know people complain about it, but it seems like it's a select group of people having trouble with it which, again, implies the issue is with their computer.
Edit: Forgot to mention; the devs said this shouldn't result in a ban anyway. If it is, feel free to get a clip of it and post it in the bug report board.
Then you're very lucky because it happens to everyone else. I got a brand new computer months back and it still happens. So nope definitely not my computer.
Why do you think the game doesn't start with only 3 survivors anymore? why do you think the 4th survivor wasn't loading into the game?
Have you not noticed how many games do not start as it says one player disconnected? with no offerings that would cause a salty dc? why do you think that is.
It's very skeptical that you're trying to downplay one of the most known about issues in the entire game.
They say it shouldn't result in a ban but I've seen 2 people so far say otherwise. A lot of things that shouldn't happen in the game happen....which circles back to my original point that it's a mess right now.

Hey look, survivors who actually knows how to correctly loop a Billy player!
The first Billy was actually an experienced one too. Unfortunately for him, he ran into someone who plays Billy a lot, and this knows exactly how to play against him.
Umm, isn't that exactly what I said? that you need good survivors?
People with thousands of hours running average Billys around the map. What are you trying to prove? should I post videos of the same people just going from instadown to instadown to instadown when they use Billy?

I've been playing for about two years now, and have had exactly 1 glitch that kept me from playing the game. If you're getting common issues, you need to figure out what's wrong with your computer.
The infinite load screen is very common and happens to everyone. You can't watch someones stream without it happening at least once.

I don't like it from a survivor side either. Lost to WAY too many weak killers because 1 or more of my teammates is the type who basically gives up the moment someone is dead and stops doing gens. Way too many matches where we basically obliterate the killer but end up losing because 1-2 people quit working on gens entirely. Increasing the time the killer has to get us MASSIVELY.
At least with the hatch the good survivor has a glimmer of hope. However small that may be.
Shame that it often goes to the Claudettes that wait in the corner of the map.

Well, for someone who thinks this game is so bad, you sure spent a lot of time complaining about it on here today.
The disconnect penalties have brought the stability of the game to the forefront. Now that it's actually punishing players it can no longer be ignored.

Exactly, IDK why that is everyones response to hatch grabs. Closing the hatch makes standoffs a non factor. At least then its a matter of whoever makes it there first wins for sure while also guranteeing the survivor can't hang around there like a jerk.
Oh and I would love for the hatch to be gone. Its a stupid mechanic that doesn't need to be in the game. Why when you BOMB a team does one of them still deserve a chance at a free win? Playing experienced survivors 1 of them will usually always get the hatch within seconds of it being a thing. Slugging isn't fun. Changing it so that the survivors can technically escape while accomplishing ZERO objectives is just ridiculous to me.
You've never played solo have you? working your ass off to carry the potatoes you get put with and still end up dying. Still no reason to play on.
If you make life miserable for solos they will decrease and you'll just get more and more swf....with killers complain about all the time. They shoot themselves in the foot.

About 4 minutes for me to question why I even bother playing such a broken pos before I join a 5 minute queue to get another game.

From my experience, the killer takes priority in closing it in those situations. Maybe it was the ping.
It does give killer priority. This is probably one of the rare circumstances where it didn't.

Nope they all count. Supposedly the rank update error ones were not supposed to, but people are reporting that it's counting those too when they get them.
and that was my biggest concern since infinite load screen can be frequent.
Nice to see that after almost 4 years it's still in the game with no end in sight.

@Marcavecunc said:
What the hell, no.
What next, penalty to the killer for downing people too fast?
Don't be ridiculous.. I had games where I won too fast on either side (or lost too fast, too, for that matter) it would have been stupid to have the game prevent me from doing more objectives because I was doing too well.
Rubber banding is annoying in Mario Kart, can't imagine why they would implement it in this game.
lol NOED is the penalty for survivors doing gens too fast, DS is the penalty for killers hooking too fast.
The rubber banding is real. Add in Adrenaline too.

Okay? So what I'm getting is, nerf Billy because your teammates consistently out position themselves? I'm telling you right now, watch any half decent to good player with actual knowledge about Billy, and you will hardly ever see them go down to his saw. And no, his strength isn't too much for the skill it takes considering if you don't know how to curve, his saw is almost entirely reliant to survivor mistakes. The people who say he is the most balanced killer are pretty spot on. This is because he is one of the few killers that allow for both sides to engage in a very knowledge and skill heavy chase. The only problem with Billy is instasaw, and he isn't Spirit where chases are literally just a guessing game. If some players would actually learn how to play against him instead of crying nerf, they'd find he is likely the most balanced killer in the game.
and watch any half decent to good player with actual knowledge about Billy USE billy and you will see them instadown most survivors back to back.
Unlimted instadowns and map traversal....tHe MoSt BaLaNcEd KiLlEr. If he's the most balanced then every other killer aside from Nurse needs some serious buffs.

I got a bug yesterday where skill checks wouldn't appear and I couldn't heal myself or others and there was no progress bar. I left that match, guess I should have a ban 4/head lol
Here's a video I posted yesterday found on Reddit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHLYMaLin_Q&feature=emb_titleThe game literally doesn't end. It's a disconnect standoff between survivor and killer.
Here's the main problem...
This exact bug caused the same disconnect standoff last time they tried disconnect penalties.
So all this time later, they've tweaked the penalty system and implemented it.....meanwhile this bug still exists. They could tweak and amend their disconnect penalties in that timeframe but could not fix one specific bug.
This is why some of us are so tilted. Sure bugs like this are rare but it's just years and years of bugs with slow fixes. Everyone asks them to test updates better, delay them if necessary yet it never happens and last time we had a new killer we ended up with the basement void bug which literally stopped people from being able to play the game.
Rather than speed up fixing bugs they decide to just punish people for being affected by them instead. It seems so backwards. By implementing this with the excuse "we can't wait" they're basically saying "yeah we'll never fix our game" which is what everyone knew deep down anyway.
The infinite load screen goes all the way back to 2016. They had an update last year saying they found one possible cause but since then...nothing. I asked Peanits on stream and he just said they're "looking into it".
It really comes off as incompetence.

If I get a temp ban from a bug or game crash I'll just leave until it's fixed. I don't take kindly to being punished for the dev's mistake, even if it's just a 5 min ban. It may sound dumb, but like, come on, it's still bs
This is what I've been saying. It's the fact of being punished for something that isn't your fault.
Peanits said the game won't punish you for the infinite load screen as it did before which was my main issue, but then someone said in another thread it did. Not surprised as nothing in this game works as intended. I had a game load in 3 vs 1 a few weeks back and it didn't end it just carried on.
If it happens to me I'm not going to sit and wait 5 minutes I'll just go play something else.

I agree except the first one should not be 5 minutes.
Our SWF got locked out for 5 minutes because we had to wait for the guy who got a 5 minute ban because he got an infinite loading screen.
That error happens fairly frequently, but rare enough that if the first ban was like 30 seconds tops it wouldn't be an issue anymore. After that, feel free to escalate like so or however you want.
I thought they said pre-game disconnects don't count?
Or is that something else in the game not working as intended?

Nobody is denying that it's flawed. They are simply saying that it's a necessary evil at the moment. Which it is. But please proceed to manufacture things to make people seem unreasonable. I feel like you're just annoyed that you can't DC against Hillbilly anymore. That's all I can think of. Since these things aren't that common, so I can't think of a reason you'd be so against penalizing DC's.
Because our culture is based on innocent until proven guilty? yet with this game it's guilty with no chance of being proven innocent.
I like that petty little argument you made about Hillbilly. Still sore again? why do you take it personal? it was a internet forum argument ffs let it go.
Less than 24 hours and people are already getting timeouts due to gamebreaking bugs (rare I admit) or server issues (not so rare).
5 minutes for a 1st time is just ridiculous given all the issues in the game. We know they will never be fixed though that's why they won't wait. Some problems have been in the game for years with no end in sight.
Can't wait until there's another major bug on the next update. Will be interesting to see people change their mind about these penalties when it affects them personally.

Nobody has said that to you regarding DC penalties. Ever.
If you're going to be upset about something, that's cool, but don't manufacture responses you've never received.
Umm some of us have been saying the penalty system is flawed, due to situations like this. Everyone else is saying it's fine suck it up.
-
Probably the dedicated servers. Sometimes it kicks you but it shows others as disconnecting.
Oh well you obviously deserved your 5 minute time out. That's what I've learned from reading the forums.
-
I used to have this happen. It sucks. The survivors try to 360 or change direction and it's not the 360 that works, it's the games hit detection being too slow to catch up. Or thats what it feels like.
-
@Number22 said:
Things have been going smoothly for me as well. Haven't seen a DC yet. However, I played a match yesterday where the doctor held the game hostage knowing that I wouldn't want to DC because of the penalty (plus I don't DC anyways.) He killed all 3 of my team mates and got me down, and instead of hooking me, he chose to pick me up, drop me, pick me up, drop me. The end game hadn't been triggered yet, and I hadn't found the hatch, nor did he. When I would wiggle free he would chase me and down me again. Then repeat the process. This went on for what felt like 8-10 minutes until he finally decided to hook me. I put down the controller and stopped trying, guess he got bored and gave up. I know he was doing it to troll and with the intention of making me DC or sit there frustrated and deal with it. It's a shame that people will find a way to ruin a solution and find new ways to be toxic. I'm not too worried about it, but if this becomes a thing I hope something can be done about it. Reporting doesn't seem to be very effective. Other than that things went fine.
This was obviously going to happen because the community has a lot of really bad apples in it.
Shame the devs couldn't care less. To them as long as it doesn't hold the game hostage permanently it's perfectly fine.
-
Clown, no add ons, meh perks.
You are a brave man.
-
Give up on hook. They don't deserve your looping skills.
Used to be like this with Ruin. Go on a 3-5 minute chase, no gens done because nobody wanted to work through Ruin. I knew at that point I was with potatoes and stood no chance of escaping.
-
Needs more context.
If 3-4 survivors rush the first gen fast enough then it doesn't remove it. So it would still show 5 gens. However once the next gen is done then it becomes 3.
Did the other survivors rush a gen together?
-
If the killer plays well and wants to slug for the 4k I'm not too bothered.
What does both me however is when 2 survivors disconnect and THEN the killer slugs for the 4k. You've just had the game handed to you on a plate, the survivors have been screwed over the most.Yet they're expect to sit and wait for 4 mins before being allowed to join another game? why are they punished? they did nothing wrong. Then comes the "EZ EZ" post game.
Of course the devs don't care though because they listen to all the moaning on the forums so it all becomes about what the killers want.
Innocent people shouldn't be punished. Likewise killers shouldn't have to 4k to try and blackpip. If 2 survivors dc then why the hell does the killer depip? stop being cheap with the points, give a safety pip at least.
There are so many easy solutions yet that requires effort so nothing gets done.
-
If it's a toxic swf, you don't want to play and they aren't doing gens then just get one on the hook and camp. That will get them back on the gens.
-

I don't know what game you're playing, but the only "gamebreaking" bug I've ever encountered in the year I've been playing this was the basement hook bug, where you just fell off the map and couldn't do anything to get out of it, except getting downed and hooked again by the killer. That's it.
Yes, there are other bugs. Gamebreaking? No.
But the game having bugs is nothing new, and if you use that as an excuse to disconnect, ruining other people's experience, and expect not to be punished for it, then, sorry to tell you this but the problem's not with the game, it's with your entitled attitude.
Yeah people who experience a gamebreaking bug, have to quit otherwise the game literally wont end, and then they’re unhappy they get a timeout for it....THOSE are the entitled players

These all happened to me the first time DC penalties happened to the point where I got a 6 hour soft ban penalty. Aside from the basement bug and killers getting stuck in generators, BHVR has fixed none of these issues for the second test as far as I am aware.
The “survivor stuck in healing” bug caused disconnect standoffs last time they tried the dc penalties.
Months on its still in the game. They take so long to fix bugs.
I can’t wait until the next update is out and theres a new gamebreaking bug and the people here championing the penalties are all complaining about how unfair it is being given a penalty when they had to dc

You can really tell you have no actual clue as to what Billy as a killer is about. You don't need to be a ######### 5000 hour player to loop an average or even competent Billy player. You yourself need to understand how to play around his saw. It's as simple as understanding curve points and knowing his charge times and distances between you and pallets or when or when not to throw a pallet. This, like I said will come with experience from playing against him. It isn't like Spirit where it was entirely guessing. He has plenty of counter play, and when you use it correctly, you will do very well against Billies.
"I find it interesting that a lot of people find killer too hard and then say Hillbilly is the most balanced killer. What they’re really saying is that they struggle to win with most killers but manage it with Hillbilly"
The reason why about 99% of the community find him balanced is because the counter play is absurdly obvious. The only thing I see here is someone who clearly doesn't understand how to play against Billy, not so much killers struggle to win without him. I personally have like 1K hours alone put into Billy. I don't struggle whatsoever without him. In fact, some times I do better without him because I'm so focused on trying to curve at some loops that I don't really realize how much time I waste.
Because of my experience with Billy, I know what to expect when I face him. I hardly go down to saws because I understand how he works.
And yet most games against Hillbilly tend to be instadown, zoom, instadown, zoom, instadown. The fact is most survivors go down to that chainsaw fast.
You NEED good survivors against Hillbilly. Meanwhile the Hillbilly players are often no better than the survivors they’re taking down.
Most people that consider him “the most balanced killer” are the same people saying killer is impossible, Ruin nerf ruined the game, and that everything on the survivor side needs to be nerfed. It tells you what a warped view of balance they have.

Dunno. Maybe it put them off playing?

There’s a difference between changing a perk where the usefulness of it varied between really good to utterly useless and actively punishing players for developer incompetence.

Its much more likely its related to disconnect system than the devs actually fixing something
-
I posted a clip of this exact bug/scenario yesterday.
The arrogance of the developers to act like their game is reliable enough that people wont be forced to disconnect..
Sad part is this exact same bug was still in the game last time they had the dc penalties months ago. So all this time and they still haven’t fixed it, thus creating disconnect standoffs between killer and survivor.
What an absolute joke.
-
They’re camping you so you don’t get your challenge completed. That’s it. That’s how toxic this community is. Just like how I’ve seen killers follow the obsession around all game for their Rancor challenge. Not hitting, just following behind them and ignoring all other survivors waiting for the last gen to pop ruining the game for others.
And the developers sit there scratching their heads wondering why everyone is so tilted and ready to hit the disconnect button all the time....
Expect far more of this kind of behaviour in the future.
-
It’s low effort, high reward. Its mostly bad players that take NOED. They struggle in the game but then get a few free hooks/kills at the endgame. Most survivors wont hit all 5 totems, not outside of 3-4 man swf anyway.
-

Amazing how good players never seem to have problems dying to Billies. It's almost like they understand how zoning works or utilize their map knowledge so that they aren't caught in a dead zone.
Billy is almost entirely about having to learn how to play against him, because he has a different dynamic to him than most other killers.
Most players go down to Billy.
Heres how the game normally goes...
- Chainsaw revs
- Lands on a survivor within 10-15 seconds
- Swings the chainsaw a few times until the survivor is down (can keep doing this due to only a minor cooldown on his chainsaw
- Hooks survivor then zooms to the next
- Hooks them, rushes back to hook as the other survivor is being unhooked
You can say they’re bad survivors but this happens almost every game. So its not just bad surviors, your typical everyday survivors fall victim to Hillbilly.
Sure a 5000 hour streamer will make an average Billy look weak but there’s a huge skill gap there.
The fact is when you get these Billys to chase you most aren’t often very good. But they dont need to be, thats Billy for you.
You need 4 solid survivors against a Hillbilly and unless you’re in a 4 man swf you’re unlikely to get that.
The survivors need to be very good. The Hillbilly only has to be an average player.
Which goes back to what Pigmainclaudette was implying - Hillbilly is too strong for how easy he is to use. A killer that strong should require more skill. As it is now its very easy for an average player to pick Hillbilly and NOED and dominate anyone except a team of survivors with significantly more skill.
I find it interesting that a lot of people find killer too hard and then say Hillbilly is the most balanced killer. What they’re really saying is that they struggle to win with most killers but manage it with Hillbilly. Almost as if Hillbilly is the killer that noobs can pick up and do extremely well with even for an average player.
-
I run DS and BT every game because they are mandatory perks. They punish the killer for playing in bad playstyles.
Then I take Inner Strength for the heals.
That leaves me with one perk slot. i often change this. I stopped taking exhaustion perks to try other perks and you know what? I’m happy. They help extend a chase but its fun to try other perks.
As for adrenaline I hate it and NOED. Doesn’t do much for the survivor during the game but I know how crap it feels as killer to have everyone get a health boost at the end. I play solo a lot though so I dont actually expect all 5 gens to get done and even if they do the killer most likely has NOED anyway.

I’d be much happier with NOED if it didn’t activate if the killer spent too long around a hook or tunneled one survivor 3 times in a row. Its always the lamest players that take it.
