I used to play old Freddy a lot. Now... not so much. It felt so rewarding to get a 4k where they nearly get out...
Yea, Freddy has gotten so strong it never feels earned unless it's an optimal SWF group.

Whew, what a thread. I have a feeling that the pendulum is going to swing the other way for some people when the battle pass actually comes out. I foresee a glut of killer players, more dcs if people think they won't finish their tasks, and an increase in players trying to farm. Good luck everyone, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
When isn't it in the land of Dead by Daylight.

@Fibijean you have derailed this thread, so this will be my last reply to you. Google is both successful, and bad at business, but that has absolutely no bearing on this thread in any way. BHVR is making a money grab by presenting fake numbers, and has failed to respond in any way. If it was a mistake, they would have said so by now. At this point, it doesn’t matter what they say, as we can be assured that it will be a lie.
She hasn't derailed the topic, she's simply using google as an example. BHVR never say their mistakes publicly, at least I never seen them do it. they will just push it live with changes (hopefully) and that's that. It's how BHVR has run ever since I've been playing DBD at least.

@sorrowen said:
The battle pass seems like you would need to put in excess of 200 hours just to get to the end maybe. However given all DBD's complications with servers and stuff it could be well over 200 hours at the end of it and even by then you might not get everything.
Exactly. Plus some of the challenges in the later tiers get stupidly hard for no real reason. One of them is "Sacrifice all 4 survivors in the basement with Agitation." Like how likely is a casual person going too get this challenge done?
-
@Kaelum said:
@Fibijean it’s simple math. In a perfect world with no loss of time, their calculations are at the very least 30% lower than is physically possible. Their numbers specifically state that the average person should be able to complete the entire Rift in 70-80 hours, which is physically impossible. Their wording would include all time spent, and not just these perfect world numbers. So, either everyone at BHVR failed basic math, or they purposely fed us false numbers. A court of law considers both to be fraud, so I’ll have to disagree with your perspective.
I think the truth is in the middle. I think they did the math wrong, sent out the wrong numbers before someone could check it, realised this mistake, but haven't said that the numbers are wrong, and they will either reduce the grind, or leave it be and say "we got the wrong numbers."
Either way, the battle pass has a nice cover, but the pages are getting muddier the more people look into it. I hope when it hits live they fix it, but with how BHVR never says changes and just pushes them out, we won't know till launch.
-
Because it's un needed. Ruin right now is fine, and really doesn't need any change. How totems work in general is the problem IMO. Having a survivor spawn on top of Ruin or devour or Lullaby is just stupid because you waste an entire perk slot.
-
@Lambda said:
I think people mostly just want Prayer Beads to be dealt with.
I simply want her addons reworked. Things like Prayer Beads and activation time change skilled plays into complete coin toss's. She's the most unfun killer too fight IMO.

Yes, but everything else about it is a bad idea and not a good change IMO.
-
Worst Killer for me too play is Nurse. She is just simply too strong for me too have fun with her.
Worst killer in the game is Bubba for sure. Dude has literally 0 pressure in chases and gens, and only works in defensive builds, which as a killer means your gonna loose.
-
This doesn't change the fact that casual players will never be able too complete the battle pass, and it's simply not fair to them for the fact they have too pay too unlock everything because they lost from the start.
-
Her basekit is just horrible too both play and fight. Counterplay has been turned into "walk in a straight line" like old Legion. Nurse never deserved these nerfs, and its sad too see the queen fall.
-
Ruin is fine as is. The main problem with ruin, and any Hex perk, is that it's pretty common for survivors too spawn on top of it and break it in 5 seconds of the match. Survivors should not be able too spawn on top of it, and totems should not spawn next too a gen.
-
@LordGlint said:
I like how there's no "no" option here.
This. This Poll is incredibly biased since there is no "no" option. the answer is no. Simply put Noed is an easy too counter perk which makes the killer play with 3 perks for an entire game until the end, and it's still not guaranteed if you counter it properly by cleansing all totems.
-
I always enjoy playing the Non meta characters, why I originally mained Old Freddy. Now I'm playing Wraith and do pretty good at red ranks with him.
-
Tunneling is a great strat long as you aren't picking the person up. You want too tunnel too either A: make them mend and waste time if they have BT, or B: Slug them and force the other survivors too rescue him, which means they aren't doing gens and that gives the killer a lot of pressure.
-
Dead by Daylight is not a phone app, so getting an ad for Papa John's would be stupid, too put it bluntly. The game is fine as is, we don't need ads too earn currency, even if it was auric cells I would never be ok with it. Using ad's for ingame currency is for phone apps which are free, not for a 20-30$ game with over 100$ of DLC and a battle pass.
-
If I have no med kits, then yea I bring Self Care, but otherwise I'm just gonna bring Adrenalin and use a med kit too heal myself.
-
Keep the Premonition and Spine Chill part of EW1 myers. Unless you are going a Mirror build, you have literally 0 reason too stay in EW1 Myers, and if they are good survivors, they will already know if you are stalking them by simply looking. Plus, not many people run Spine Chill, and no one runs Premonition at red ranks, so the likely hood of loosing a stalk because of one of these perks are slim.
-
No, you would be punishing killers if a team is swarming the hooked person. Camping when used right is a very good strat at high ranks, and can create pressure that survivors will fail too notice if they keep trying too waste time for the hooked person.
Same thing with tunneling and slugging. Tunnel the person who was saved, and don't pick them up, it forces survivors too do something other then gens, which helps killers immensely.
They are annoying when abused by scum, but punishing everyone for the few who do it wrong is not fair.
-
No, not really. the new base Nurse is just a mess, and feels incredibly clunky and irritating too play as. She's lost her top spot, and i wouldn't rank her below Billy at this point. They should never of touched her base kit, and not even close too such a bad degree.
-
@Captain_Spaulding said:
As a strict solo player, I just want to have the same information they have because they can communicate. I'm not saying I want to be able to know where killer is at all times, but built in kindred and MAYBE have a totem counter tied to small game would be a great start. Other than that, if I'm in a SWF group and I know it, I'm not very altruistic towards them because I know it'll be the same for me.
Built in kindred would be a bad idea, since it can be run well already, and having it in base could completely ruin the balance of the game. Personally, I say seperate SWF and solo que's. That way information is always fair between the two, and the killer knows if it's SWF or not.
-
Second hook, that way it's not so oppressing like it is now, and hopefully would reduce the dc count with it.
-
You can't loop her like a usual killer, but I agree I find being chased by her a coin flip of luck instead of actual skill if i escape or not. I feel it's because of her addons, things like Activation time and Prayer Beads are just not fun too fight, and should be reworked too make her strong, but also fun too fight against.

I don't actually agree with this.
While I think casual player that pay should be able to complete the pass I don't think simply grinding should enable you to get it all for free.
The cosmetics are an extra that they employ a team dedicated to work on purely for extra revenue. They are not part of the game ever needed to play.
Since cosmetics are never needed ir change gameplay no one is being forced to pay for anything. You can chose to do so or not.
Cosmetics have become the way for a company to bring in that extra revenue instead of increasing the costs of things deemed needed. Its a much better way to get revenue as it allows more players to get the actual content that can add to gameplay at a lower price.
Players can still earn some for free just by playing along with doing the challenges which reward extra bloodpoints. I personally hink that model is more than fair.
I disagree. I feel if you spend 8 hours a day, every day, for 2 weeks then you have earned the rewards, but someone who can only spend 2-3 hours a day at best shouldn't be forced too pay for cosmetics they want simply because of real life obligations.
Cosmetics may only be that, cosmetics, but that doesn't change the fact that if the battle pass is being advertised as something for both hardcore and casuals players, but it isn't working for casuals, then there is an issue. If they reduced the grind it would be a great battle pass, and I'm personally still gonna buy it, but casual players shouldn't be forced too buy tiers simply because life comes first and they can't afford the time it requires too get everything for free.
-
@johnmwarner said:
Then don’t pay for it, and get what you get from the free track for playing anyways
that doesn't change from the fact that it's still unfair for casual players. Using the argument of "dont pay for it" isn't even an argument since it doesn't change the point I'm making, which is how horrible the grind is for casual players and the fact they will probably not get the max rewards from the battle pass, even if they do everything right.

@coppersly said:
Not that there aren't 50 million of this exact thread but I think the addons are mostly fine, barring some ones being outright worthless again and a few that need some work. I made a thread on PTB feedback forum if you'd like to see that.
Her basekit changes are uneeded and even if they are going to stick with them it makes her much more clunky and punishing to use than she is now. You get punished for good blinks and bad blinks, you get punished for mis-timing charging up a blink even by 0.1 second, you get extra punished if you read wrong and go somewhere else entirely. If they hide at that point there's little you can do.
Overall they took the buttery-smooth and a good risk/reward live Nurse and turned her into an ancient rusted relic of what she was, hindered down by arbitrary cooldown mechanics. If they absolutely MUST keep the changes then charging a blink needs to not stop the cooldown, slow it done is fine but outright stopping it brings the pain train to max speed when you're used to double blink timing (aka the muscle-memory part they didn't want to touch)
Agreed. The changes too her base kit are just bad, especially since they didn't give her anything too compensate her for such a heavy nerf.
As for Spirit and Billy, Spirit could do with an addon rework. Her base kit is fine, but once you start adding things like Prayer Beads and activation time it gets too be more luck then skill if you live a phase.

No, I'm not negative. I'm just not going lockstep in agreement with your agenda. Particularly when your agenda is painfully problematic.
Like this portion of your reply
I understand the fact they have too make money, they are a company and it's stupid too think everything should be free, but if casual players don't have a chance too get everything without paying then that is an issue.
It's contradictory to a fault. In another part you state the casual is the majority. So you want the majority to be able to acquire everything free while acknowledging the game can not be maintained free. So then who exactly is supposed to support the infrastructure of the majority? The minority?
So because BHVR has too make money, the majority should be forced too pay up for content that should be accesible for free if you play well? Again, if you don't participate but want everything then you can pay for everything, but a casual player should be able too unlock everything for free if they play right and smart.

And the Simpson's have the Treehouse of Horror, should we add Homer as a survivor?
Treehouse of Horror is closer to DBD than anything in Terminator.
What about Eric Foreman? That 70's show had a couple Halloween episodes too.
Freddy and the nightmare films are pretty much the same thing, where the first few entries are horror, but then it derails into comedy. It's really no different.
And personally, beating up Homer sounds kinda fun so I'd be ok with it.

Yep. More then likely they'll nerf it like they do everything on the PTB.
-
I don't think hags bad at all, but she is incredibly overrated. Simply put her power is way too easy too counter, especially with flashlights. And in the end without traps she's an M1 killer with less movement speed.
If her power was not hard countered by flashlights she would be top 5 for sure, but since it is she ain't higher then Huntress. Plus in a chase cordinated players will simply run around and activate all the traps once you are in a chase.

A:) I'm not here to help you browbeat and whinge Behav10r into giving you everything easy. It's bad for them financially to do so. So labeling my criticism negativity means nothing to me. Just as you are free to post as you want so too am I free to do the same. You do not have a right to post a complaint and have it shielded from criticism. You are not entitled to a red carpet for your agenda.
B:) Casuals aren't a crumb more important than anyone else. Think of the inanity of that comment. If I play for 10 minutes a day and never spend a cent how on earth am I the bread and butter for Behav10r? Streamers bring a large portion of players to Behav10r and they are anything but casual.
C:) There's no drama. I'm as chill as I'm going to get. If you make a new thread or new post I'm going to be right there to give my opinion on it particularly if it comes with an undue sense of entitlement and self importance. Deal with it.
Objective reality, dedicated servers come with a cost the company did not have before and they have to generate revenue to keep them funded. I want DbD to be successful as I do have a financial stake in the game, as we all do. What isn't healthy for the game is people browbeating the company at every turn when they try and make money to keep those servers up and to procure new licenses. Maybe if you didn't try to imply they were scummy by labeling any attempt at revenue generation a cash grab I'd have been a little more sympathetic to your concerns. The reward is cosmetics.
None of the challenges are impossible to beat. They are however going to be incredibly difficult for survivors who haven't played a crumb of killer and that my friend is just desserts. Those most concerned with cosmetics get to endure the headaches and abuse they so often love to dish out to their competition as they scramble to hoard every piece of swag. Priceless.
Jesus you are a negative nancy. I never said you had too agree with me, but all you've been doing is being negative and not helping the topic at hand. Insulting people doesn't do anything but derail the convo. Just calm down and be a little happy for once xD.
I understand the fact they have too make money, they are a company and it's stupid too think everything should be free, but if casual players don't have a chance too get everything without paying then that is an issue. The grind should be reduced for those who don't have the time too commit too 8 hours of gameplay a day 7 days a week.
and Casual players are the bread and butter since they are the majority, so they usually cater too them when it comes too balance. If you keep the majority happy, they are more likely too buy auric cells for cosmetics, which is money in BHVR's pocket. Just because you don't buy cosmetics doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.

This x100000
You don’t NEED to finish the pass to get your moneys worth. It’s completely up to you to decide wether the rewards you have unlocked are worth the $10 or not.
That being said it’s still completely valid to say that you feel the grind is too harsh and should be reduced, which I actually agree with.
whether or not the battle pass is bought or not isn't the problem. I understand and agree with the notion of waiting till you think it's worth it, but if casual players don't have a chance too get everything unless they pay then that is an issue too me.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/95309/camping-the-go-to-phrase-for-sore-losers
O
Im a Killer main. Camping is a bs "strategy" used by low skill players, and thats a fact. You are completely screwing a random player over because you lack the skill to kill survivors any other way. You'll never get past rank 14 camping, if you did you wkukd start getting destroyed by survivors that know how to deal with it.
Not necessarily. Camping is a strat and does have uses in all levels of play. If the survivors are going for a risky save, then camping will ensure they can't do it without trading for another survivor. And tunneling is good if you need too slug too create more pressure if survivors are bum rushing gens.
Just because you don't like doing it doesn't mean it isn't a legit strat, but calling people who do it "low skilled players" is ignorant.

@xZeroStrike said:
I'm just saying, nobody knows how long this will actually take.
On top of that, all of this is based on the math of one person, who uses a variable in said math, that being how long a game would last in order to calculate the total required hours to gain all rift fragments, and he didn't even write down his mathematical process of reaching the amount he has obtained. I'm not saying he's wrong per sé, but banking on this alone to make an assumption such as "it'll be impossible to achieve if you don't do X" is just a little far-fetched.
Also add the fact that The Rift is still in its PTB phase, and will still take a couple weeks before it'll see implementation in the live environment, so a lot of things may, or may not, still change.
There's also the fact that this is still the first "battle pass" to be brought into the game, which means that there is still the need to learn for everyone, especially the developers, on what is a good middle ground to make The Rift rewards obtainable my most players whilst still requiring the player to dedicate some time to the game.
And let's not forget that buying the "Premium Track" is entirely optional. In fact, it is entirely possible for you, the player, to not buy the Premium Track, play the game and level your Rift progress, and then buy the Premium Track when YOU are satisfied with the rewards you'll obtain from it, if at all.
Some games don't allow you that freedom (Fortnite), because those games require you to have purchased the pass in order to make the most progress possible. This isn't the case in DbD.
TL;DR:
- The Rift is still in PTB, changes are still possible.
- The Rift is rather non-predatory, as the player can level the pass in advance before deciding to buy the Premium Track, and this is no secret. The Premium Track also doesn't feature "XP boosts" like other games have to encourage buying it before the end to "level it up faster".
- This is the first iteration of The Rift, it's entirely possible the devs are still looking for a good middle-ground to make The Rift accessible to all whilst still requiring some dedication and effort from players to complete.
- Companies need to make money. The Rift having a price shouldn't be surprising, and is still amongst the better value-for-money additions to the game compared to single cosmetic sets costing equally as much.
- All these assumptions are based on the calculations of one guy, that didn't list his mathematical process, and that was made during a time in which The Rift was still in a "beta", meaning that any future changes will make this entirely irrelevant.
So, as with all things: Don't rant. Don't get upset over it. Give your feedback regarding your concerns about The Rift to the devs in the therefore designated forum category (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/3-3-0-ptb-gameplay-feedback), and wait and see if they make changes. Give The Rift its chance to be implemented in a way that will be benefitial to all.
I am giving it a chance, and I do want it too be perfect for all sides, but right now with how buggy the game is with infinite loading screens, DC's, campers, tunnelers, crashes, there is a lot of problems that will make it very hard for a casual player too get everything without paying, which is my problem.
Is it just one person's math, yes, but I feel it should still be taken into account. Plus the Battle Pass shouldn't be implemented until the game is more stable and everyone gets a fair chance at unlocking everything. And if a rant is needed then so be it, they're problems in the game that need too be addressed, and sometimes a rant is needed.

Yes it was. It was originally suppose too be for both casuals and hardcore players, and it was suppose too be around 70 hours after everything is said and done, but with DC's, Lobby Times, bad matches, infinite loading screens, and more bugs and bugs, 100 hours is looking generous.

If you don't like it speak with your money and don't buy it.
Yeah I plan on buying it, its pretty cheap and I probably won't finish it but I'll earn some of my cells back plus some cool trinkets and you won't hear me crying about not having enough time.

I'm not saying the battle pass has too give a chance too the dude who plays once or twice a week, but too someone who plays 1-2 hours a day every day should have the same chance too get everything as someone like Tru3 or Monto.

The problem is the following:
1) Freddy was changed for a reason. Whether it was because it was considered a weak Killer, or he was not "noob friendly", or encouraged a playstyle the Devs didnt particularly want to keep around. Its not coming back. Devs wanted Old Freddy gone, and thats all it matters.
2) Upkeep. You would have to balance any future changes to the game as well as new perks keeping into consideration both versions of Freddy, whether they are good or bad balance changes. Not to mention that just means to invest resources on basically an entire new Killer with each patch and keep it as bug free as possible.
3) Popularity. I really doubt all this effort is worth it. See it this way. Largely considered the weakest Killer of all by a huge portion of the community. Now imagine bringing back said Killer, but without any add-ons (they have all been reworked to fit new Freddy), some of which made Freddy superior by miles and immensely fun to play. If anything, the amount of people using this add-on would be less than Speed Limiter LF/Billy. All the effort put into this add-on (considering the previous two points), pretty much completely wasted.
This. Old Freddy had a bad and unfun playstyle for both sides, so too bring him back would be a bad idea IMO.

There's no reason to constantly repost the same whinge threads either. Behav10r doesn't give a hoot how casuals feel. They set it up where you lot specifically would have to choose between playing more thereby filling the queues or opening your wallets and paying for progress.
Spare the rest of us the endless whinge over it and the dramatic victim class rhetoric.
Casuals deserve nothing and should receive the same chance everyone else has to fail or achieve. Which is exactly what they are getting.
A: people can post what they want, if you don't want too read it, then don't, but being negative in the thread doesn't help the discussion at all.
B: Casuals are the bread and butter of BHVR, it's why they buff/nerf the game too the casuals.
C: only one being dramatic is you bud, just calm down and chill.
