bro it's 2 charms and a tome story that you can just not read

LOL
i love how this game is getting fully ruined
first the balance
then the map
and now LGBTQ
what if someone doesn't wanna be gay? that's a crime if you don't wanna be gay? cuz bhvr is doing exactly the same thing
what if someone doesn't wants lgbtq in game? gets refund? or people call them HOMOPHOBE?
I like how game & map balance is somehow on par with a couple of lines of text about 1 of the 20+ characters in this video game. Lines of text you can just ignore if you don't care about it
Bigger reach than Halo Reach.

People have comfort characters, whether it’s for relatability, attraction, or both. There’s even an entire community I know of that put themselves in actual relationships with fictional characters, though that isn’t the case here.
For some people a character’s, in this case, sexuality, can determine if that character becomes a comfort one or not.
I presume OP has liked David since his release, and with nothing ever alluding to his sexuality except the ex-girlfriend thing, having that suddenly torn away after years can be psychologically hurtful to people.
This is why the ‘leave it to everyone’s own interpretation’ was a better idea, so no one could have their own ideas ruined about a character. Making the character canonically gay would, and has, ruined the connection, illusion, comfort, etc. for some people.
I’ve never personally cared about David but I know I’d be quite distraught if my comfort characters were suddenly canonically labeled as something, years down the line, that would break my connection.
People out here acting like a character's sexuality being confirmed is some kind of psychological trauma
A characters sexuality being one thing or another has never ever stopped people from indulging in their fantasties, you need only look at any fanfiction site

No but I dont need to read it. You don't just make a post saying "we realized we don't have any LGBT survivors so here's one". Would have been better if the 6th year survivor was gay
Is it not a little unfair to pass judgement without having read the story the whole thing is based around?
Like if you read it and don't like it fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion but to call it forced/bad quality and so on without having read it seems unfair no?

People are complaining that bhvr did this the wrong way but his lore is pretty great.
If the lore behind it is well done, what's the problem?
That they went on twitter about it or that they picked a pre-existing character?

Will just further prove that they don't know what they are doing. It would have been fine of David was gay from the start
Out of curiosity, have you read the lore about it yet? The lore that's meant to bridge the gap/explain it I mean
-
They move around randomly when they aren't being aggro'd/attracted to loud noise notifications or sounds
For example, they can hear generator explosions (Caused by skillchecks and most perks), they can hear generator repair noises and I believe they can also hear Discordance
They also have a vision cone which can be expanded with addons

Actually wheezing at 3am
the hell you mean “against his will”???
In the new tome entries it's revealed that David King was held at gunpoint in BHVR HQ and they forced him.
The plot twist is that it was Mcote holding the pistol the whole time and he becomes the new Observer 🤯
Source: dude trust me
I know posting leaks isn't allowed but I'm sure I'll get away with this one

A bit off topic but it wasn't until I started playing DBD that I realized how many people choose characters to play by how much they can relate to them, not just here but games in general.
It makes me wonder how many people are like me and only play characters based on cool factor or on a whim because they had a funny outfit or something else like that. Even in games where you can create your own character I normally go for a small girl if possible because I love the little-miss-badass trope and that certainly is not something I can relate to in the least.
On topic, I don't think lore changes are good enough of an excuse to get a refund. The game is subject to change and that includes lore. Just as you can't get a refund for a perk or killer power that gets changed you almost certainly can't for lore either.
Hi I'm one of those people too
I play characters I think are cool/I like what licenses they came from or I like their personality. I don't project myself onto any particular character.

I mean it's about as easy as killer has ever been imo. You equip your 4 automatic gen perks, you get your completely free damage states, and then you tunnel someone to death starting at 5 gens and automatically win if they don't have DS. That's the state of DBD unfortunately.
What you just described has been the killer meta for years now.
4 slowdowns, tunnel one dude out and pick a killer that can injure people quickly/end chases quickly.
Blight and the 4 horsemen of the gen apocolypse and just because Blight/Nurse "are hard/take skill...etc" doesn't mean it doesn't become easy after a while.
And contrary wise, you could argue playing survivor has only gotten harder by virtue of COH being nerfed even though before it was a thing survivors were still considered the stronger role when pushed to their 'peak' for lack of a better word.

Exactly. Legion is so easy to play but saying E to win when all it takes for killer is press M1 to win.
Legion has to press M2 though
-
Nobody can fault you for camping in the endgame in my opinion
The killer, usually always in a losing position when it gets to that point has to consolidate what they have at the time of the last gen being completed. If they're in chase, they need a down. If it's a hook, then they need to try and secure it. The only time it's typically not worth it to camp during the endgame is if you know survivors can't open gates quickly or if you have multiple people slugged when the last gen pops
Most kills that happen during the endgame happen for 1 of 2 reasons:
Unexpected NOED or Survivor altruism.
If one dude gets hooked and camped, the best course of action is for the other three to just leave and secure the victory but it's not only boring, it's not as challenging as going for the 4 man out.

Really feels like 2018 again doesn't it?
Although legion was busted back then

Oh I absolutely agree and I’m pretty sure I saw that post you mentioned as well and that’s totally fair. I’m not complaining about it, sorry if it came off that way, I just pointed it out in relation to Sluzzy’s post and also disagreed with legion being op. Overall I’m happy with the update even if there’s a few bugs to be ironed out. I’m excited for the anniversary and if we get the solo survivor QoL update then, that would be awesome.
Oh don't worry you didn't come across that way!
I just wanted to reiterate it since I think some people might've forgotten about that! 🤔
-
Why does a character being gay detract from everything else you mentioned about him
He's still an alcoholic football hooligan who loves a scrap

Definitely not the state of the game.
Probably the rest though, in varying degrees.
I think for me the biggest part is the community reaction to it
I'm not gonna say it's not a big deal, like it's a big deal for the people who feel represenated and stuff like that but when I say it's not a big deal I mean to say it's not something people need to complain about. Like the Bubba mask situation, the devs made a decision and that was it.
If people read the lore and don't like it, then fair dos but a lot of negativity appeared just from the announcement alone which is a little disheartening.
Although it would've been cool if BHVR had just let people read the lore themselves and realise it organically instead of announcing it like they did but it's not a problem to me. The game has a lot of bigger issues that are actually worth talking and arguing over but many people get themselves up in arms because... David King likes men.
Never thought I'd write that sentence but yeah
-
Feels like I'm in 2018 again
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
Yeah, it is a killer-favored patch. There’s no denying that. But it’s not like legion didn’t need the buff they got, and COH is still a very strong perk.
To be fair to the devs on this one, I believe either Peanits or Mandy elaborated on this and said that working on lots of content like this is obviously time consuming (And given they are a company that doesn't crunch), if we want big content changes like this we can't expect huge mega updates to both sides each time even if that would be the most ideal scenario
Personally my big hope is the anniversary will have a big survivor QOL update since rumour has it we're not getting a license this year.
-
Yes, David King (The fictional character created by BHVR interactive) was held at gunpoint by MCote himself, I'm glad we have such vigilant truth seekers like yourself enlightening the masses
Sluzzy what's your beef, if you hate the game so much why are you even here
-
@Pulsar said:

I dunno if I quite agree with that rather extreme interpretation, but I can't quite put my finger on why their announcement rubs me the wrong way.
I understand you can't quite figure out why, could it be any of these?
Is it BHVRs track record? The state of the game? The communities reaction? How long it took them, the amount of effort they put in?
Any of these things?
I'm genuinely curious because I think I get a similar feeling, the actual changes and the content is fine there's no issues there.

Right click.
Click Properties.
Click Compatibility at the top.
Click "Change high DPI settings"
At the bottom enable "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and change it to application.
Click Okay and then Apply.
Done
Very funny

IIRC they're there to represent the harsher struggles of lgbt+ poc (mostly black and mixed people?) and to help show that despite the issues within the community at large (with problems like racism, transphobia, and aroace exclusion being pretty massive for a community that's based on inclusion) they are noticed, valid, and accepted.
But I could also be majorly wrong so if anyone knows for 100% sure and can correct me, please do.
Ah I see. That makes sense, I might've read something about that since it rings a bell
Many thanks!

AA actually makes games less optimized to “look better” so in any case forcing it on console is a bad idea and should be an option to chage in both PC and console
Ironic that DBD looks 100x better with it turned off
So much for making it look better

@senki527 said:
hi, can someone help me? since the latest patch i can't disable Anti-Aliasing anymore and the graphics look terrible blurry, it's hurting my eyes. Before i always inserted the following lines into the Engine.ini file and it helped.
[/Script/Engine.RendererOverrideSettings]
r.DefaultFeature.Bloom=False
r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusion=False
r.DefaultFeature.AmbientOcclusionStaticFraction=False
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=False
r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare=False
r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0
But now it would always change back to the original lines when i start the game. Does anyone any other option to disable anti-aliasing?

This update essentially had everyone redownload the game, there's a lot of technical reasons to it I'm sure
But it seems all the .ini files you could use to make minor edits like uncapping fps or removing AA are either gone or located somewhere else (I can't find them personally)
Nobody knows how to remove it at the moment and unfortunately it's likely the case that we're stuck with it unless we're vocal enough to get a response.
I don't want to play the game when it's a blurry mess, I don't know how people do
Ignore this post the ini files are still a thing

so, are you saying that if we copypaste the same code from before it should still work, even though it's a different location? finding it shouldn't be too hard.
The files are gone, I think

nothing, because they would most likely have no proof. There's just too much factors that go into why a killer will act a certain way to really pinpoint it to harassment.
Unless they brag about it in the post game chat/steam comments
Which a lot of them do because they're vile people who thrive off the annoyance of others, just plain stupid or both. Usually both

Or... just a thought, it could be read as more 'true to life' in that you likely know many LGBTQIA2+ people or have encountered them in your life, and have maybe made some assumptions about them or thought they were one thing and discovered (or not) at a later stage that you were wrong. A lot of gay men aren't effeminate, super-obviously gay (though there's of course absolutely nothing wrong with those that are) and are assumed to be straight by people unless they are corrected. I know, being one of them.
I think his complaint is grounded in the idea that it clearly wasn't what they were going for originally, but then they changed their mind/received advice or something along those lines and adapted the character rather than creating a character from scratch.
While personally the change doesn't bother me, I do find it rather strange from a decision making standpoint. It's def more of a fanservicey kind of change (Judging from the community's behaviour toward the character I mean), which again is totally fine if you're a fan of that kind of thing
End of the day BHVR can do whatever they want with their characters, if people are happy with it then so am I for the most part

C33 Adrenaline Vial Blight was actually enough to break one of those basement pallets, and catch all the way back up and down the survivor before they could make it to the second one. I don't think I had ever actually played that combo on that map before but it was something that happened during the match which surprised me
C33 is almost like a built in enduring spirit fury for Blight right?
That addon does so much it's incredible
-
As someone who mainly plays M1 killers I also don't mind the map as much, it's weird
I think part of it is to do with the limited number of windows and the amount of mindgameable or 50/50 type pallets. Those kind of interactions I enjoy. It's also a compact map, it's not like rotten fields where you m1 a guy and he disappears into the corn never to be seen again
The god pallets do suck and the CCTV room/Double basement pallets in particular belong in a circle of hell somewhere but
I can't say I hate the map? It def should be changed, but Idk I like it
Now whenever I see Fractured Cowshed, then I get upset.
-
Because survivors stacking on gens actually have a penalty to their action speed
To put it v simply - a gen with 1 person is 80 seconds at 1 charge a second, but 2 survivors is like 45 seconds with a charge per second penalty applied to each survivor. Prove thyself eliminates this penalty, thus turning the bar yellow
You can actually make the bar turn gray while cooperating while using resillience/spine chill and a toolbox or something like that, I've seen it happen but that's the gist of it
