  • Is this the Jill Valentine Hook scream thread?

It’s not just the loss of good add-ons. He mechanically feels miserable since they nerfed him. Like, what would appear to have been a connecting chainsaw hit before the nerf now just rubs up against the back of the survivor. Janky turning after beginning a chainsaw sprint than before the nerf too.

I am glad they added overheat as a countermeasure to camping. Doesn’t bother his regular gameplay at all, plus has add-on support.

the camping countermeasures they added to Billy and Bubba don't even work, they are useless

You can charge your chainsaw up as the unhook animation starts and you will basically always get the person unhooking (and more if you're Bubba)

Overheat's real purpose so I thought was to stop Billy from endlessly feathering his chainsaw in a chase. Bubba obviously can't really do that

  • I think if you nerf Billy again even the hardcore BIlly mains will stop playing him

He's in such a bad spot

  • Make the dream world actually mess with survivors perception like a dream actually would

Not sure how you'd do it but I'd really like for the dream world to be more than just a filter and some particle effects

  • Customizable killer powers confirmed????

Let Trapper players put christmas lights on their bear-traps!

  • All of the benefits of it without the downsides (Not being able to hit the obsession without losing stacks)

One of the big upsides of the perk is making controlling hooks/dealing with bodyblocking survivors much easier. M1s are also just slightly easier to control and much faster to do, with shred you still have to do that small charge which could be the difference between getting a hit or getting pallet stunned

It's not required to play him, but it's certainly one of his best perks because he can use it and ignore its downside unlike killers like let's say Clown - you can't injure the obsession any other way apart from grabs which aren't that common

I do agree that Shred on its own can carry demo, especially with some of his newer addons but STBFL will never be a bad choice on killers that use their M1 a lot/have an M2 that doesn't insta-down except maybe Legion/Plague.

  • Yeah

Old effect is still there with the new effect added

Sprint burst users can't make a mistake and fix it with a single button press or play greedy around every single pallet because they know a single E will save them. Sprint burst is a good perk but its nowhere near as broken as dead hard and that's why it's nowhere near as popular.

I mean you could make the argument that Sprint Burst allows survivors to be in dead zones without as much risk because they can use Sprint Burst to make it somewhere while staying healthy

Surely being caught by the killer in a deadzone should be classified as a mistake, one that can be fixed with a single perk in this case?

I'm not saying you're wrong about DH, but SB def allows you to get away with things you wouldn't otherwise in a similar vein. The reason it's less popular is because it's much harder to use properly and takes more skill than DH does.

I still don´t know. Yeah with Lithe, ok. But you can use it only once - only once in the match.

One of the most annyoing things with DH is, you can use it every time. 3 times if you get downed every time and hooked. Way more if you manage to escape the chases and get healed (quickly).

Then it is a third health state every time.

When a survivor uses any other exhaustion perk, you can basically know for certain they can't use DH on you

So when you remove that certainty, I really feel like killer gameplay would become more frustrating as a result. Especially when survivors could stack the already good exhaustion perks out there with DH.

imagine Overcome + Dead Hard in the same build and being able to use both. Most M1 killers likely would have a very hard time winning that chase without wasting massive amounts of time (more so than if you just had DH on it's own too)

I get that your main gripe with DH is being able to use it multiple times, but exhaustion is the most balanced thing about the perk. Sprint Burst can be just as good if not better than DH, I wouidn't want that perk to be once per trial.

  • @Marc_123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2915888#Comment_2915888

No, like UB or DS it can be used and thats it.

I don´t know if this is so scary. I think they would spare it for the end of the match then. But if they use it once it is gone.

I'll make a scenario to show why this might be a really bad idea

So, let's imagine the first survivor you find - you chase them for a while and then they make it to a window and use Lithe to speed off somewhere while healthy. Most killers would drop chase by this point but for the sake of argument, let's say you continue

Now think about it - the survivor has used a perk to make so much distance on you while being healthy + they have techincally 3 health states for the killer to deal with before they go down (First hit, Dead Hard and final hit). They can also use the first injury speed boost to make it somewhere while still having their DH in the back pocket.

This would be crazy unbalanced, imo - the main downside of DH is not being able to use other strong perks like Sprint Burst alongside it.

  • Why single out Pinhead when Pig exists? She's been in the game for way longer

She not only has a secondary objective, it's one that has a chance to kill you directly under certain circumstances

  • Only if you can down them quickly

You don't want to chase around corrupted gens because you're not pushing survivors off the unblocked generators, meaning they will get done

  • Would it still be an exhaustion perk then?

Because not gonna lie, imagine DH being a one time use but it doesn't cause exhaustion

You'd actually see people running DH with exhaustion perks and being able to use both, isn't that a scary thought.

And on the other hand if it would make you exhausted then it'd be inconsistent with the rest of the exhaustion perks.

  • I'll sometimes watch Otz when he's doing his streak attempts, mostly because I respect the dedication to it. Don't really watch any other streamers - there's good ones out there but a lot of the ones that get a lot of views are, to be blunt, awful.

Bad sports, hostile chat environments and overall they're entitled. I know that word has lost all meaning but by entitled I mean they act like their experience is the only one that matters, so if a match doesn't go their way they are free to berate their opponents, the developers and so on.

Then whenever people criticise them, they get banned with the reason "lol this is my space".

Benjo's YT content is pretty good as well, I'm sure his streams are as well.

  • MIght be a better idea to rename the thread so it's not as confusing

My suggestion would be; "Tenacity let's male survivors start crawling earlier than female survivors" or something like that

The feedback to that in particular was very important.

You're killing it lately Mandy, many thanks once again!

  • Many thanks for changing hemmorage to not affect recovering!

Very glad to see that feedback on that feature was taken into consideration. Very happy with the changes

  • I think in a general sense a killer with no addons and good perks will outperform a killer with no perks but good addons. Perks are also mostly universal and work on all killers whereas not all killers have powerful addons that would make up for the lack of perks

If you were to ask me to pick one or the other I would pick perks every time.

  • For survivor:

Sole survivor, Up the Ante, Poised & Corrective Action

    For killer:

Beast of Prey, Hysteria, Unnerving Presence & Overwhelming presence

  • Here's something to consider, as well - I was just thinking about this

Is Sadako the only killer who has a power that doesn't help in chase NOR potentially shorten chases entirely? Let me explain:

    The weakest killers in the game do have powers that can help in chase or help shorten chases;

Legion's power is useless in a chase against an injured survivor but it shortens chase time by essentially making every survivor a guaranteed injure. This also applies to Plague, but she also has red vomit which is a super powerful chasing tool

Pig's dash is very limited and not super effective but it's SOMETHING and can be used to mindgame survivors.

Trapper's bear traps don't directly help in chase but they shut down loops or end chases instantly in some cases

Clown's bottles make running from tile to tile difficult and forces medium vaults when used right

I'm not saying Sadako needs an anti-loop power, but she needs something surely? Her stealth is great but Stealth killers fall off in effectiveness which is why they usually have something else to help in catching survivors. Myers and Ghostface have insta-downs, Wraith has his mobility and uncloak lunge etc

  • I faced 5 different Nurses in a row one time

    6th game was a Myers

then the following two games were also Nurse

I found it kind of hilarious

Yes I just heard about it! I have an update regarding the four PSN accounts. I just checked and sure enough, PSN responded to my reports and so did Behavior. All four individuals were in fact PSN users and their accounts have been permanently banned. Apparently, cheating is a big business though so it isn't guaranteed that these individuals won't be back in some form.

That's incredible, thanks for the update

  • I can't contain laugher whenever I see a Nemesis far away running in my direction. It's so comical

I get that they couldn't just make him walk everywhere because that's more what Mr. X does than Nemesis but come on, it's like he's running in slow motion

Wouldn't change it though I love it

  • Survivors and Killers who nod when something happens are what make this game great

Replace tbagging with nodding and nobody would ever complain about BM again... Hopefully

  • I've always wondered about people being able to cheat on DBD while playing on consoles

It's not like cheating on consoles was a new thing, people used to cheat quite a lot in MW2 and the like way back when. I just figured it doesn't really happen these days due to it being generally not worth it/impractical due to various technical factors. Plus I think you need a PC to cheat on consoles right? To get the software and such

You might as well just cheat on PC at that point but idk.

I find it hilarious how some cheaters can bypass the crossplay function though

  • Mad props to BHVR for this.

It's certainly a big step up from what we've seen in the past.

  • The Legion chase music patch is only a week away

Oh and there's like another buff/some map rework in that same patch too I guess

  • DBD is more than the small indie game it used to be

It's cemented itself as the 'Smash Bros.'/Museum' of Horror icons. It's a franchise.

Even if DBD the video game were to 'die' (NGL I don't see it happening without an event of cataclysmic proportion), the franchise it has created will live on. It's also one of the most streamed games on Twitch (iirc?).

Look at Konami, they barely make video games anymore yet they've been able to milk their most popular franchises to death via things like pachinko machines and the like. I'm not saying BHVR would take that route but they just as easily could.

Hell there's DBD Cafes in Japan. I think people underestimate the sheer outreach of DBD.

  • I think having addons that make POTD inflict torment either shouldn't be a thing or would have to be of a very high rarity, like UR levels of strength because it completely changes how he would be played. I think Punishment of the Damned is already powerful enough on it's own, making it even stronger feels like a bad idea

I sorta feel the same way about the addon that removes the ability to crouch over trails, there's many hook spots where you can put trails around them (not close enough for it to disappear) which paired with the addon would make avoiding torment impossible.

I like the idea of an addon that messes with cage locations though, could come in seriously clutch if someone's in 2nd stage and about to die.

The Obsidian Goblet is actually quite a unique take on an Ultra-rare addon too, it reminds me of other addons BHVR made which enhances one part of a killer's power and weakens another (Like Amanda's letter, for example). Good stuff

  • But boons are not the problem

Circle of Healing is the problem

The boon mechanic is fine as it is, it's just the elephant in the room that is COH.

  • This might sound a little out there so bare with me

What if COH stayed as it is (Midchapter version I mean) but they increased the amount of time (or charges) it takes to complete a heal? A healing nerf across the board basically, instead of just Circle

It wouldn't have to be massive but maybe that would be a better solution instead of just constantly kicking COH's numbers down because it's going to get to the point (eventually) where it's either still a problematic perk or it's garbage.

It's a bit of a drastic (And killer sided, I will fully concede) solution and I'm not 100% in favour of it but it's an idea.

She's far too clunky and slow or me. Plus she feels like she takes less skill than other projectile killers (since I'm on console trickster is absurdly difficult).

    That makes sense!

I have trouble hitting knives on PC so I can't fathom what it's like for console gamers. Especially with the performance issues.

It's nice that you can enjoy him despite that though, he's really fun and surprisingly addictive even if he's not the most powerful or unique killers

  • 4% in their face

    They'll never see it coming

Bit of an old list but I still agree with it (and don't mind top tier that just means I really enjoy playing them and nothing else).

I'm guessing you have a thing for projectile killers

Except Huntress, is it because she's annoying to play for you or?

  • If a killer kills somebody then... They're playing killer. There's no 100% correct way to play Killer, outside of the obvious like hostage holding

Like sure tunnelling can be a problem sometimes but to claim their playstyle is illegitimate and not "proper" for the role makes no sense Sluzzy.

Survivors don't let up on their objectives, why should the Killer?

  • Tier.PNG

Yes all my favourite killers are licensed, feel free to call me a pleb

Also yes I'm dreading the rumoured Twins tome coming up, I'm not looking forward to it if it's true.

  • Is this a copypasta

I swear I've seen this exact post somewhere before

  • You should ask the same question about Cheryl as well

  • I like to think about it like this:

Most killers in the game simply don't have the capability of pressuring all 4 survivors at once, you can only chase 1 survivor at a time - which is neither easy nor quick in a lot of cases. Gen regression perks are essentially a way of 'getting back' the time you spent chasing and allowing the match to progress at a much slower pace.

They also incentivize a less campier playstyle (For the most part), because almost all regression perks are triggered through hooks, downs or kicking generators.

However there is also the issue of Killers that are capable of pressuring multiple survivors at once through very quick chases and slugging - In these situations the gen regression perks aren't exactly necessary to win but they are incredible at making a bad situation for survivors even less winnable.

Once the game becomes a 3 v 1, gen speed slows down massively which means gen regression perks hit twice as hard. This is often why you will see people running them even if they are setting out to camp/tunnel somebody straight from the start.

As for survivors, on one hand I think having perks that affect generator speed is not a good idea and unhealthy because it all stacks together. Prove thyself/Toolboxes and such but on the other I think survivor perks and addons should have a tangible impact in the game too, just like Killer perks and powers do.

  • Counterplay is just another word for player agency/choice

When you're facing a certain killer, it shouldn't feel like no matter what you do in a chase it doesn't matter. When people say some killers had "No counterplay" they usually refer to killers who put you in completely lose/lose scenarios, such as the various animation lock punishing killers who basically are guaranteed a hit on survivors who are in animation locks aka windows and pallets

The natural counterplay that appeared when facing these killers became what everyone now calls "Predrop + Holding W" - wasting as much of the killer's time as possible while creating as much distance as possible.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2906983#Comment_2906983

Ah, yeah, that's a seriously self defeating move for the artist, lol. People actually do that outside of the potato ranks?

I think on paper it makes sense

You're securing a 2nd stage/kill on somebody while also using your perks and power to essentially grind the game to a halt. 45 seconds is only 15 seconds short of an entire hook state.

It's actually somewhat of a lose/lose situation because you can't dodge the crow spam while also working on the generator because DMS will block it when you let go, be it to dodge the second swarm or because you were injured by the second swarm. The main counterplay to killers who basically facecamp is rushing gens but the power + perk combination severely hinders the survivors ability to do this.

    Again this is on paper

In actual games, there's a lot of other factors to consider, like being able to catch somebody before gens get done or survivors just bumrushing the hook and not allowing you an easy camp because of 2nd chance perks and so on.

  • @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2906972#Comment_2906972

Again, let go of the gen before the survivor is hooked. As in, when they are being carried by the killer. You can hear each time a crow is shot off. Assuming you can count to 3, and pay enough attention to see the crow fly by, you just have to wait it out.

I think they are talking about if the Artist decides to commit to a camp

They stay near the hook and keep repeatedly shooting crows at unblocked gens until they become blocked, thus stalling them and preventing progress from being made while they camp somebody to death

If you stay on a gen during DMS timer and you are injured, that counts as 'letting go' of the generator, which is what Artist players who use this playstyle are 'threatening' you with. The correct play is to simply tank the first crow, get that extra bit of progress then let go when the second swarm comes.

Or alternatively, distract the killer/stop the camp altogether by hook diving with BT but that's really risky lol

  • @James4125 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2906960#Comment_2906960

Yeah I know. Still not really moving though so it's basically facecamping.

Sure she can keep spamming crows over and over from that range, but DMS is only 45 seconds long and she will constantly be in cooldown

Also from long range, you need to be hit with 2 crows before it'll damage you, meaning you can get swarmed and keep working on the gen until the second crow comes your way (Which is 12 seconds if she fires all 3). Then once the gen(s) are blocked, the survivor team can just go in for the save before stage 2

I get why people are criticising DMS for it's synergy with Artist's power, but there are other perks that enable a camping playstyle just as easily.

    Deadlock & NOED for example.

  • @James4125 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2906950#Comment_2906950

Yes. And she doesn't shoot the crows at the gens until AFTER someone is hooked. At which point she doesn't have to move from the hook. It's pretty straightforward and extremely easy to pull off.

    Actually this is incorrect

She does have to move away from a hook to spawn a crow, 10 meters to be exact.

  • Just had a really random idea for Claustrophobia/Cruel Limits

Keep it as is but add one more thing to it

When the final generator is completed, every window on the map is blocked for a minute. Or something like that

Kinda like how bitter murmur's effect is weaker until the endgame where it's at maximum power, for lack of a better way to describe it.

Definitely a good point there dbd has been boring to watch since the silent hill chapter tbh

One of the big things that puts me off is the attitude of the streamers/their chats

Be it they can't take criticism, their chats encourage a very hostile environment (Insulting the streamers opponents, encouraging them to BM and so on) and generally the arrogance of many of the DBD content creators. For some it's no longer just playing a video game to entertain, it's about proving they are better than everyone else or something like that

The only DBD content I watch these days is stuff like Benjo, dumb clips that showcase the funny moments of the game instead of the frustrating.

Maybe it's just me though, I'm sure not everybody sees it that way.

  • Brokenbones guide to countering Dead Man's switch:

Step 1: Recognise that it's in play

Step 2: Let go of gen before hook happens, wait out any crows that are sent your way

Step 3: Continue working on the generator until you're pushed off it, force the killer to waste even more time sending another bird your way

  • Hmm

    1) STBFL may be one of my fav perks but I don't like how trivial it makes camping, many killers who I see using it will secure stacks early on then use it to make hook trading for someone being camped impossible

    2) I don't think basekit BT is as completely necessary as some people make it out to be, although I can def see why some people want it.

    3) Map RNG is probably one of the biggest factors in deciding which side wins a match. Certain realms are more guilty of this problem than others

    4) DBD content on YT/Twitch has gotten incredibly stale even though I still enjoy playing the game myself. I feel like there's too much whinging going on to simply enjoy watching.

  • I like midwich

I just don't like being sent there by Killer players. Usually because it's always Nurse/Blight

I don't really care if I'm sent there as Killer either

  • Correct!

It really needs a secondary effect of some kind.

1 … 53 54 55 56 57 … 103
