A light in the fog charm would be really cool to see. It's such a tragic situation and it breaks my heart anytime I read about it.
-
Artist has counterplay
It's just very boring counterplay that doesn't take as much skill as traditional looping does.
Here's a fun fact though, Dredge and Artist have something in common - their power is countered by another survivor getting involved in the chase. Another survivor can run through a crow to remove it and the same can be said of Dredge's remnant. Only difference is Artist can just place another crow right away but Dredge's power goes on cooldown
Also it's early days, don't decry Dredge as having no counterplay when he just came out and people are still learning.

I've always wondered if the stigma/hate towards self care was warranted. Like
If you bring the perk and use it effectively, is it really that bad of a perk? Like yeah there's healing perks that are more effective and such but in terms of utility and efficiency self-care is up there. A lot of killer snowballing happens because survivors end up in a situation where nobody can get healed
The perk is also incredibly useful for the endgame, sometimes you're injured and far from a gate and you need to be healthy in order to get out.
I've been half tempted to do some kind of self care experiment, just to see if I can form a conclusion about the perk because I'm very torn. So many people are convinced it's a bad perk but I'm just not 100% convinced.
-
Considering they confirmed a second resident evil chapter is next, it seems like all of the people complaining/worried about licensed content have gone silent.
Personally as someone who was looking forward to a licensed anniversary but got spoiled, this chapter is 100% a success and I'm very pleased with it. BHVR's done a great job this time

I did say it could be changed. I didn't have any ideas at the time and I'm open to suggestions, but overall the devs make those decisions. It's not a horrible perk. I wouldn't use it in solo queue. I'd probably use it if I was teaching a friend how to play the game. And I did offer other better perks. My overall approach was to tell the OP not to feel defeated over one game and to try something different.
Yeah I respect your opinion of course. I just think the perk is bottom of the barrel tier trash but I'm speaking as someone with over 2k hours so ofc I'm gonna say that.
New players already have it kind of rough with modern DBD since the game's only getting more and more complicated as time goes on. When I was a new player for example, Legion and Plague were the newest killers so there wasn't a huge amount for me to wrap my head around

Can't control what other players do. You also can't control who you queue with in solo queue. Hard lesson to learn but I had to learn it recently because I was losing all the time due to other players not playing so well. Now I just run Lithe, Dance With Me, Quick and Quiet, and Windows of Opportunity. I had to learn the only thing I could control was my own playstyle. So yeah, you can tell other players to get better at the game all you want but that's not the best solution, at least until the Devs decide to buff the perk.
It is a bad perk in multiple different ways though and this thread is a prime example why
OP clearly came across a newer player who struggles with skillchecks and they have a perk that punishes you more for missing skillchecks. The perk also doesn't help you with hitting skillchecks or making it any easier. The new player in OP's case would've been better off without the perk to begin with if you ask me
The perk also has no use for anyone but new players - even intermediate players rarely miss good skillchecks but even if they did they understand when to leave a generator and when to keep going.
A perk typically should have some usage for new, intermediate and expert players.
-
My headcanon is the Clown goes around putting these posters up during his trials
He even drew the picture himself
-
A perk designed for new players shouldn't punish you, the way they changed technician makes no sense to me. Let's compare it to a lot of the other typical beginner perks out there:
Dark Sense: Gives you information for doing objectives and the endgame, pretty good for a beginner - no downsides to running it
Deja-vu: Tells you where generators are throughout the game, has a small niche for more advanced players since it can be used to break 3 gens. Also no downsides to running it
Lightweight: Simply makes scratchmarks disappear faster, no downside
I get the added penalty was added because the generator explosion is always prevented but that's not enough to warrant such a downside in the first place.
Plus the perk is insanely punishing at level 1, missing a skillcheck with this perk results in 15% regression on a generator the same as Pain Resonance (A killer perk). It's hilarious

Same happened/happens to me.. not sure if it's meant to be or a bug.
@AGM said:
I don't know if it's intended, but in a way I guess it makes sense? Healthy -> Injured -> Deep Wound -> Dying -> ...Dead, right?
Main reason I reported it is due to the fact Blood Favour previously had a bug like this where it would block pallets if survivors died on hook, got mori'd and even disconnected
It would be kinda cool of this could be made part of the perk though since it's v thematic but since it's not stated in the text I'd rather report the bug just to be on the safe side

No it's fine, no worries.
I'm not upset at you or anything and I understand tone is hard to decipher through text.
Apologies if my messages sound harsh.
No worries I respect the passion behind what you're saying, I imagine you've had to deal with a lot of frustration with people - I understand where it comes from.
Glad that we're on the same page!

No people shouldn't be judged based on characteristics they can't control.
But I'm not judging him for that. I'm judging him for coming into a thread about a queer topic, seeing queer people being upset and then deciding to comment "well I'm not a queer person but here's why you're all wrong."
It's tone deaf at best and silencing at worst. And I'm tired of it. I wouldn't be so annoyed if it didn't happen so so often but it's too common. It even happens IRL.
Perhaps I just took it the wrong way, I do apologise.
Stuff like that bothers me, I don't like anyone being given crap for stuff like this but if that wasn't your intention then fair enough. It's text it's hard to understand where people are coming from sometimes

And I won't do that, usually. I like to reply as much as I can, as I think I've proven when I replied to them. But I also cannot and will not blame anyone who doesn't want to do that, because even I'm getting sick and tired of having to explain to people that I have no reason to be tolerant and accepting towards people who hate my existence, when the people telling me to be tolerant and accepting have no idea what it's like.
To use a personal example, I've recently discovered that my older brother will, behind my back, call me the f slur. Every single time he refers to me, it's "The f-slur". Except he doesn't say f-slur, he says the real word. I naturally know of straight people who have been bullied and abused by siblings, but not of straight people who are constantly and continuously called slurs behind their backs by them, and yet are completely expected to be tolerant and accepting back. In fact, if this example were just regular bullying, everyone would happily say that I have every reason to hate him, and yet because it's surrounding sexuality I'm meant to be the bigger person?
No ######### thank you.
So, no. I can't blame anyone within the LGBT+ community for not wanting to read what another person who had absolutely zero idea on any of the struggled a queer person faces on the daily has to say about what we should and shouldn't do.
Yeah don't get me wrong I'm not saying you or anybody doesn't have jusitifcation for being annoyed with people and as I said above over text it's sometimes hard to know where people are coming from, what their intentions are and so on.
Certainly wasn't my intention to cause anyone upset, I saw something that seemed a little uncalled for and was curious what it was all about.

Yeah because a straight person lacks the lived experience of a queer person and therefore their opinion on LGBTQ+ topics is less informed. Period. End of discussion. SO SO tired of cishet people trying to talk over us about our OWN topics, especially in pride month like bruh. It's so tone deaf.
You can think it's odd all you want idc
Yeah I mean thinking his post is complete garbage and stuff is fine with me, everyone's entitled to an opinion even if it's one that makes no sense, is dumb etc
I just don't think it's a good mindset to see someone's post and latch onto their characteristics and go "well you're this so opinion discarded".
I wouldn't do it to anyone and I wouldn't like it done to me yk?
No ill will intended here btw i just think it's a little uncalled for. Should people be judged based on what they say or characteristics they can't control? I think the answer is obvious.

Literally nothing more annoying than homophobes who intentionally enter into queer threads/spaces just to make a scene and then act like the victim when they get called out.
I mean you did point out how you stopped reading somebody's post because they said they were straight and male
Not exactly a "call out" as it is you going "lol I'm not reading this because you're xyz" which seems kinda odd
Like think his post is hot garbage or whatever that's all well and good but yk.

Judge Dredge
Anyone?
Just me?

All patch notes were moved to here:
Features New Killer - The Dredge New Perk: Dissolution 3 seconds after injuring a Survivor by any means, Dissolution activates for 12/16/20 second(s). While Dissolution is active, if a Survivor fast vaults over a pallet inside of your Terror Radius, the Entity will break the pallet at the end of the vault, and Dissolution…Usually the release information thread just links here

Well yeah, what do you think he's doing in those lockers?

In all fairness coming to the forums and reading posts people make is easier to avoid than wanting to play a horror game where nearly every match you play has pride charms on all the hooks and survivors.
Yeah a horror game where the scary cast of characters has additions such as:
A clown who sounds like he's slowly dying and also wears chicken and elephant costumes
A k-pop guy with no shirt who giggles like he's getting ready for prom in every chase
A bunch of edgy teenagers who sometimes wear rabbit costumes
An angry cowboy man who shoots you with a spear gun
But you draw the line at seeing 2 little rainbow png images near a hook or on a persons side

Because, my friend, neither of us are islands. You and I are cut from the same organic cloth swirling around in this incomprehensible cosmos that we have the miraculous coincidence of simultaneously inhabiting. Where the fearful temptation is to close the windows and doors all around us, draw shut the blinds, and be illuminated only by that humble fire that casts flickering light upon our cavern walls, we ultimately have a mutual responsibility to each other and to all those around us who also just so happen to be attempting to reconcile our various existences with the mad arithmetic of reality.
Which is to say, in a word, that empowering individuals to curate their experience to specifically cut out evidence of the existence of others in a bid for a selfish comfort around the isolated flame is probably unhealthy from a social standpoint.
Or I mean
You can just not look at the charms and play the game.
That's also an option. We'll go with what you said though

Thats great! They should be. I think they should be optional within the matches too if players don't want to see them. But by all means for those that want to can.
Why though
-
Is this an original design or is this based on an existing pride-type design?
For a charm this looks really good.

But of course! Still not the SUPER adorable pic (100K ain't enough for that, although I might give in eventually and just throw that pic out there before I build it up too much and then everyone hates Holly cause it's not as adorable as they built it up in their imagination...) but we do get a Holly pic for the BP code. Just gotta decide which one and try to remember which ones I've already posted...

It just goes to show how well designed the pallet model is
You know at a glance immediately that it's a usable pallet; the red/blue colours and distinct model
I'm really glad they brought the pallet model we have now back instead of the newer model they were going to use
Picture I found for reference:
Imagine this on Garden of Joy, it'd blend right in with the background lol
-
Bloody cosmetics aren't going anywhere though?
They haven't said that's changing at all
-
Honestly it's good because maps like haddonfield and garden of joy have a lot of windows that LOOK like vaults but aren't. I actually went down today because I was being chased during Nightfall and I saw a window that looked open but wasn't a real vault
-
They took Demo
They took Maurice
They're gonna come for the Cow that lives in Lery's next.
-
Offensive names are handled on Steams end, p sure a mod on here has said this before when someone asked about this a while ago
If you report people's steam profile, if action is taken steam will just remove their name and replace it with their profile ID and they'll be unable to change it for however long their 'ban' is.
BHVR only really acts on stuff said in the EGC or stuff that breaks their rules in the matches themselves - I don't think stuff done outside of the game/their official channels is something they take action over
-
So far I've seen extra lockers in:
Macmillan
Coldwind
Ormond
Autohaven
Eyrie of Crows
There may be more in Swamp maps or in the other notoriously locker empty maps like Mother's Dwelling or something

I think Dredge is really fun to play as and against overall but the counterplay boiling down to w key city really is stale, but It's sort of a universal thing right? If you're boring enough you can w key 80% of the cast but many choose not to and try to loop because it's more fun and engaging to them. Also an expression of skill if you can make the most out of your resources
I worry what buffs Sadako is gonna get, she does need something for chase but if they give her another pure anti-loop ability it's going to get dull real fast.
-
There's some stuff that messes with me
Dredge's walk cycle has one of his arms constantly being raised up and it makes me think he's using his power when he's not
also has very loud breathing that makes them seem a lot closer than they are

@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
What changes are you talking about?
I played a match today (after the update, VS the new killer as well) where the Haddie just macro flashlights and running around the killer. I noticed no difference. Still super fast clicky clicky macros.
Like I said in the OP I don't mess with macros so I don't know if that's affected
But regular clicking by rapidly tapping m2 isn't the same as last patch, there's some kind of delay/buffer to it that's hard to describe. Maybe try it for yourself if you get a moment maybe you'll notice it.
-
@TheArbiter said:
I think its a great change!
Same here!
I can't quite put my finger on what's changed but it used to be that the flashlight would click/flash as fast as you tapped m2 but it seems there's some kind of limit on it now where it'll only click a few times
-
Ambient noises should be kinda loud for survivor and not so loud for Killer yeah
Dredge's ambient sounds are so cool from the survivor POV, hearing the roars map wide when they down someone is amazing but from Killer POV sound is a lot more important and any small thing can distract you
-
The meta for killer has always been stacking 4 slowdown perks, or 3 slowdown and 1 tracking perk (like Tinkerer)
The meta for survivor has always been stacking second chance perks and mixing in other perks like Circle of Healing, Iron will, Windows of Opportunity and so on
What's changed is on the killer side, there are now a bit more variety in useful perks
Sometimes you'll see ruin pop
sometimes you'll see pop pain res
or pain res dead mans switch
or ruin pain res
and so on.
The most meta thing at the moment is DH + IW - probably the most used combo at the moment. Like when people used to run DS UB when DS didn't deactivate itself.
-
It's nice to be optimistic about a chapter for a change!
Honestly Haddie and Dredge are both great, their perks aren't super good right now but hey - there's always a weak area in all chapters. Plus they aren't completely worthless, they're fun perks.
The new map looks good but I'm not sure how it'll play, especially on live.
I'm also really excited for the upcoming event thing, those masks look amazing.
-
Maybe they could make it so after he downs somebody he does a little victory animation (Like in his mori where he raises the chainsaw up a few times after killing) and then after that he can continue the sweep
-
Can confirm cheaters can force crash you if you try to spectate them
Had it happen to me a few times
-
You can trap exit gates and use No Way Out to further stall them. Remember me also works for this but the obsession isn't affected by it. No way out is just better than remember me overall.
They'll have to disarm the trap, proc no way out and then prep the gate. If you manage to chase them off and reset the trap, it buys you some extra time
-
Speaking as someone who used to despise Billy before the rework, I really wish they would give him some love
Even if they want to keep him 'weak' or whatever strength you consider his current state, his power feels absolutely dreadful to use on a basekit level. Engravings helps a lot I'm sure, I'm not too experienced with them so I can't say but I play him with steering addons and he feels so garbage to play

I agree with the camping part, but camping at 5 or 4 gens is almost always a genuine attempt to spite a random survivor.
I'm sure there are killers who do camp from the get-go 100%.
Be it bc they know there's nothing the survivor can do (Bubba for example) or maybe out of spite so on.
Same time I've had games where I put a guy in the basement and I see where their teammates are/they are all close by so I'll commit to it and force them into action or secure an early stage 2. It sucks for the person on the hook of course, but it sucks for the killer to lose 3 gens in their first chase as well. Just part of the game at the moment.
Aside from slugging, hooks are the only thing that actively forces survivors off generators and into danger.
-
@KateMain86 said:
The community is going to be the end of this game. 😔
People have been saying that for years and it still hasn't happened yet
The thing that (Seemingly) has come close to killing DBD in the past was BHVRs own bad decision making, such as one time they decided to make it so you could blind killers at any point during pickup and it would cause a grasp escape. Same with pallets, you could drop a pallet on a killer the second they started picking up, they'd finish the animation then drop
You could argue the same of SBMM, although I don't 100% know for certain if SBMM is sole cause for the player drop-off. It's likely but with only steam chart data it's hard to say for certain.
-
To be honest as you get more experienced with the game, the less most of what you mentioned will bother you. At least in my case - stuff like killers camping me or survivors trying to take hits for their teammates doesn't bother me to that degree. It can be annoying sure but being annoyed isn't the same as feeling like you're being bullied or personally attacked.
Most of the time I get camped it's usually because the Killer felt like it's what they need to do in order to win and i'm the same when I play killer.
What still bothers me about this game is the lengths people will go to in order to either gloat, stack the game in their favour from the start or both at the same time. Map offerings and the like.
I recently played a match with a killer I'm not well versed with, on a map that is extremely survivor sided and it only takes one bad sport to sour the whole experience.
-
I play a lot of my killers addonless, not because I think addons or busted or anything - I just like relying on the power at its base level and my mastery of it. I've been playing a lot of addonless Artist and she's still really good
Some killers suck without addons though

In case someone is wondering what the link is, it's a clip of OP trying to heal up a dying survivor against a Nurse. They teleport over, hits OP, and Op keeps healing. Survivor is very very nearly healed when OP tries to pallet stun the Nurse, only they do so during fatigue so nothing actually happens stun-wise. OP is then downed because they are injured and standing still against a Nurse, and they proceed to disconnect, ending the 12 second clip.
And here I was thinking this was gonna be a nice thread about someone talking about reaching 6 years with DBD

Ghostface writes articles about his kills in the fog for no other reason than maintaining his routines and indulging his narcissism.
James Sunderland arrived in the fog after the 'Water' ending of Silent Hill 2 and the Entity convinced him his wife is in the fog along with him to feed off his hope as well as his other emotions.
The Zombies that accompany Nemesis are the same thing as Victor aka they're not real/are creatures made by the Entity. This explains why they 'disappear' into a pool of blood when killed and respawn.
