  • The mobile version of the game has a lot of this. I played the mobile game for a few weeks before starting on PC and they do have some basic chat commands that say stuff like “don’t come” “danger” and a few other phrases to communicate. You’re also able to see the perks your other teammates bring in the load out and their items.

The killer however cannot see your items you bring, they can only see that you did bring perks and you did being items.

Interesting that this stuff is on mobile but not the main game.

How am I supposed to get video proof if it happens out of nowhere.

You’re supposed to record all of your matches all the time on the off chance that something like this happens. 😆 Sucky but BHVR has an ancient reporting system set up.

  • @Emeal said:

First of all, it should be way faster and more straightforward than it currently is.

Sure but doing that takes a lot of development time and making and designing underpinning system.

Nobody records their games, unless they are streamers.

False, I do. Its always running in the background and will save the last mins to a file at a press of a button.

My Nvidia Graphics Card has a service built in, its called Shadowplay. Its really good.

We just have 0 reason to fill up our ssd's with random dbd games.

Upload them for your report and then delete them. or see above.

You cannot attach images when opening ticket trough steam browser, when reporting trough steam and ingame.

Its not bHVR's fault that the Steam Browser is bad. Open a browser outside the game.

I was just reported by a toxic duo who barely got any points and did nothing whole game, saying I did nothing and they are reporting me. (I had 4 iri's and most points) meanwhile they were bragging about their 4x gold. I have no way to prove their report as false report, since I could not attach images to the report ticket. Now I'm being reported by 2 players who are abusing the system and just because they were friends.

Don't take false reports by other users seriously, you are letting them get under your skin. This is an old strategy of Survivors.

That’s YOU. The vast majority of this playerbase is not recording every match they play and it’s absurd to ask or expect them to do so. Also yes you have NVIDIA but not everyone does. I specifically mentioned that certain recording software only works for certain systems, can also depend on your graphics card etc.

  • I can also attest that I cannot attach image or video files in the support ticket. It always gives me an error message or says files too big. When I email support they tell me to upload the video to YouTube and send them that link. This should be made clear from the start. Just remove the file attachment option and tell them to upload to YouTube straight away. The only thing file attachments are good for is screenshots.

I’ve been saying that the reporting system is flawed in expecting your players to record their matches on the off chance you get a cheater. Many people talk about screen recorders they use, but certain recorders only work on certain systems and you have to have specific system requirements. I know because I’ve tried to use 3 screen recorders already but they wouldn’t work. I understand someone shouldn’t get banned with no evidence because that opens the doors for people to abuse the report system anytime they get mad that they lost a match or something. However for the amount like BHVR and the amount of money they make on this game, it’s just unacceptable to me to be stuck with this current system of reporting where the burden is on the player being abused or being cheated in a game for something to be done. Which brings me to my next point:

The whole “we don’t tell you the outcome of a report” needs to be changed as well. What’s the point of reporting someone if we don’t know whether their behavior is going to result in anything? I had a player go around the censors to call me the N-word on end game chat. I sent in screenshots, while support ticket the entire thing. Never got any info on what happened and from looking at their steam profile the player is still able to play the game. Did they get a temp ban? Did they get any consequences at all for using racial slurs towards me? No clue. So all I’m left with is to assume that nothing happened and that BHVR doesn’t care. In which case why report anything? More transparency is sorely needed here.

Where I normally play the office has a firewall preventing access to most streaming sites. I'm not going to submit a request to ask the IT department to grant me personal access to a site like YouTube, just because one game I play won't accept hacking/exploiting/rule breaking/bug videos in/of their game through any other means. Players are already asked too much of to report anything in this game.

This seems to be a recent change as well. Up until about two weeks ago there was never any issues with them pulling video from a media sharing site.

Ah well. Like one less person making an effort at reporting is going to make things any worse.

and I bet this is how many many players feel which ends up adding up to lots of people not reporting because it’s too burdensome on the player or just a waste of time in general

What is their motivation to do this? Plenty of people are playing the game and spending money on it despite the supposed numbers of cheaters (I personally have no seen an obvious cheater in a long time).

There is no incentive for BHVR to spend a ton of time and resources on this unless people are quitting the game because of it, which largely is not happening.

Also BHVR has stated that they’ve banned 64K cheaters already in 2022 alone and there are more every day. You may not personally see it but statistics show that it is a real problem in the game.

  • @Emeal said:

Most recording software allows recording of the last 5min at the push of a button. Shadowplay with my Nvidia Card does.

Great but I don’t have NVIDIA and that’s besides the point. My point is that the burden should not be on the playerbase when there are ways for the devs to do this on their own. They just don’t want to.

To your point about video proof being required, unfortunately it is on us because they cannot add a replay system into their shaky coding. They would have had to do so in the original release it's much too late now. It was made "slightly" easier not needing Steam ID's, but yeah I doubt anyone is a fan of their reporting system.

Maybe in DBD2 should that ever happen.

    Thanks for the response.

Just had a game on RPD with an obviously cheating Claud named poofart32(othernumbers I dont remember), but she would constantly pick up players while teleporting around. Before I could realize what was going on I picked her up once and tried to avoid her afterwords.

Am I doomed? I Dced when it was just me and him left to avoid any looks that I was helping the cheater and I reported him at the endscreen. I play on xbox and have no evidence but I assume BHVR can look over the game and see what was going on

my less you have video evidence of the hacker Bhvr will do nothing so I’m sure you and they are fine. Plus I don’t think anything you did was bannable anyway since you were just playing the match normally.

It feels like every killer has iron grasp even when they don’t. No sway whatsoever for great skillchecks.

This is what happens when a game has no real competition. The developers can ignore bugs and player experience issues for as long as they want and people will still play. You can bet that if a bunch of players were leaving the game due to these issues that the devs would be working right now to fix them.

  • @Donleov said:

In this case just retreat and heal, before going to the exit gate, in which scenario various survivors get downed on gates? The time to hit someons is almost enough to fully open the door if you pre leave it.

This was solo Q. No coms to organize a retreat and heal in this instance and getting rando survs to understand what you’re trying to do without a way to clearly communicate without the killer seeing is nil.

I honestly wish I’d just taken a picture or video of what it looked like so you guys could see the issue. It’s not as easy or cut and dry as it’s being made out to be when gates spawn like this. They were practically right next to each other. Lol

  • Yeah I’ve been dealing with the same thing. It definitely happened after the last update. I bring boil over and certain points on maps where I know I should be able to wiggle off from, (because I’ve done it before) I can’t do it anymore due to this issue.

  • Yup! My bloodwebs are always full of nothing but add ons and map offerings but not the actual items that you need the add ons for.

Many the add ons that I do get are nothing but brown and yellow until I hit at least levels 35 in the bloodweb. Then maybe I’ll get some purple and rainbow stuff but that’s still rare.

When I first started playing, the in game note said that every time you prestige you will find more rare items in the blood web. Never happened. Then they changed the prestige system and I have several characters that are prestige 12-28 and it’s the same with all of them. The same crap items in the bloodweb.

Then I read on one of the forums that said it was based on devotion level. Well I’m devotion 5.

So basically it seems like there’s either no actual system or the system is broken, which wouldn’t surprise me with all the broken stuff in this game.

  • Yeah I’ve already gotten a few grinches in my matches too. They’ll get bored and go away soon I’m hoping.

  • Yup just played survivor match with 100% BP and it gave me nothing.

the queue bonus is supposed to encourage people to play those roles but if we’re not getting the queue bonus then it’s like a bait and switch.

The devs need to give us a BP code with a few hundred K BP to compensate for this.

  • DC penalties didn’t go anywhere. They’re still there unless they just shut them off.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/357378/killers-really-are-mad-about-this-0-4-sec-flashlight-change-huh

Are they really mad, though? I have been the victim of successful flashlight saves since the rework a staggering 3 times, maybe 4. Getting flashlight saved is still mostly an issue of comitting to an unsave pickup or some very questionable angles ... and sometimes you honestly get outplayed by a sneaky survivor who saw the down of their teammate comming, but its not a big deal in my games.

Still, I often pick Franklin as one of my perks, as with the cheap items you are hardly pressed to not see lobbies with 3 items, often 4. Thats not in itself a problem, but survivors are often goblins for their precious items, especially their beamers, and will go to great length and risky plays, to recover them. Its this missplays and anger from the survivors side that is the biggest value of Franklins imho.

I have slapped an event beamer out of quite some survivors hands and then casually stepped onto the thing and they just stood their, questioning their life choices and pointing at me accusing ;D

On a sidenote: I think that cut coins are counterproductive for killers, just like the veil that seperates survivors. More chests in game mean more survivors opening chests and not doing gens. It might just be a few seconds, and they could also get a medkit that gives them a much needed heal, but in general chests are benefitting the killer just as much as they do the survivors.

LMFAO!! I’m a self-admitted loot goblin. When I bring an item and it gets knocked out of my hand, I DO question all my life choices. “Is surviving really surviving if I don’t make it out with my item?” 🤣🤣🤣

You ain’t wrong there at all.

I get that developers are hesitant to ban hackers because it means they'll lose a tiny bit of income on micro-transactions, but I think putting profits over people's enjoyment and experience of the game is unethical. We pay for the game too you know, and hackers are ruining it for us. As it stands right now there's literally not even a way to report hackers in the game. There has to be an in-game report that actually checks, because I keep having matches ruining by hackers and I know I'm not the only one. You can't expect me to record every single match with external software can you?

    Stop protecting them.

This is my issue. I get that they need us to show examples of the behavior but I’m not going to begin recording every match I play on the off chance someone is cheating and I need to report them and send evidence.

EYE just don’t want to be punished for it. So again, if players decide to DC, or killers go AFK the entire match, I don’t understand why we can’t get an automatic safety pip. It’s not giving us anything for free, it just keeps us from losing the ones we already earned because of other players actions.

  • @Raccoon said:

Yeah - All those crazy flashlight topics on the front page (aside from yours) are really clogging up space.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

I'm more of a killer main, but I haven't changed my pick rate of franklins / lightborn or using a cut coin more often (never using it, always running BP offerings). If anything, I'm seeing more survivors attempting to blind but failing (miserably). I'll still switch in lightborn with 2+ flashlights if I want to have a chill game, but that was the same before the FL changes.

I think this buff gave some Survs major confidence boosts thinking they’re all professional blinders now and they’re still not. I’ve had a few matches now where I’m being picked up and survs run up to flashlight save and they point at the killers back and side. Lmao I just wanna tell them “you know it doesn’t work like that right?” 🤣🤣🤣

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

What's the point of this disscusion? Making fun of people who find flashlights frustraiting?

As a Lightborn enjoyer (long before this buff) I couldn't care less. Please bring as many flashlights as you can, thank you.

My post is in jest but I’m actually curious if the flashlight change has anything to do with the uptick in the franklins and cut coins Im seeing. I’d like the killers to weigh in if they feel so inclined. If not, all good.

  • I’ve always gotten to IRI 1 the last few months but this month I’ve been stuck at IRI 4 for over a week now.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve depipped due to survivors DCing and suiciding on hook.

I’ve also had matches where because the killer was AFK the survs knocked out gens super fast. Because of this I got one gen done, no unhooks, cleansed three totems, opened chests and ESCAPED and still depip.

It’s crappy that the pip system is affected by how others in the game choose to play or not play. Like I’m not saying gives us free pips but don’t take away pips we earned becuz someone else DCs or refuses to participate. Give us a safety pip

I have literally never read a post regarding some of those topics I bring up, where mental health was the focus or concern.

They’ve been mostly about balance and survivors being frustrated about said topics (Camping/Tunnel focus someone out, BM and post chat threats).

So when you say “It shouldn’t be necessary” well actually it’s never been the case to begin with. I would take a threat of someone being told to end their life more serious than a time-limited skin argument for the sake of mental health, which no one (unless they are a doctor) should be trying to give unsolicited advice on anyway.

One thing that they don't tell is why does it particularly matter to them. So why???

Do all of you have FOMO issues? Or you just know a friend who has a friend who has a FOMO issue and you are very worried about them?

I understand the frustration with the general unhappiness about the whole situation, and I agree with you that the "it's always worse somewhere else" argument is #########, but, restating my first comment, I feel it's unreasonable of people to feel such anguish over something as simple as a limited-time cosmetic. All I ask is that you put things in perspective. I used to get very angry about these things too, but I try to view this in a broader frame of reference.

That’s fair. Perspective is also needed with most things in life and this is no exception. Lol!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288181#Comment_3288181

Seems like my last comment didn't post. Great.

The gist of it is, is that I just don't understand how a lot of people on the forums feel such incredible mental anguish over an ultimately trivial item in a game. Last I checked, people in Ukraine, Donetsk PDR and Yemen were still being shelled, yet people are acting like it's the end of the world and how the developers are damaging their mental health, so I'm having a very hard time sympathising.

I personally have never cared for the belief that because something is much worse off somewhere else in the world that people can’t ever be unhappy or voice their displeasure with something that’s not as serious.

Thats a very slippery slope that no one would like if we begin to go down it. If people had to consider factors like world war, starvation and death every time they wanted to vent their frustrations, especially over gaming issues, no one would ever be allowed to say anything. May as well just shut down the forum then if that’s the prerequisite. Also keep in mind no one is asking you to empathize with it. I’m simply saying let’s not pretend we don’t understand where the frustration is coming from by ignoring the nuance of the discussion.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288167#Comment_3288167

Honestly people shouldn’t try to make an argument of how FOMO affects someone else’s mental health when a) they are not a doctor b) not everyone suffers from the same mental health problems.

Also I feel like this is cherry picking considering that there are MANY other factors that this game has that are not tied to a skin that one could also say are problematic when it comes to mental health. Like the fact that people are telling others to end their lives on the daily in post chat. Or the fact that people are getting BM’d for absolutely no reason other than someone else wants to be a jerk. I could go on and on.

I don’t think it’s cherry picking. The other things you mentioned are also relevant and things that I HAVE also seen discussed here. It’s just that this topic is the current topic being discussed mostly due to the fact that it’s news that was just recently announced.. That doesn’t mean that those other issues have not been brought up or addressed.

also let’s keep in mind that it shouldn’t be necessary for a person to post EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM they have with a video game/devs/company every single time they want to talk about one issue. That’s a ridiculous burden to put on anyone or expect.

  • The difference is, exclusive items that come from the rift, shards, prime gaming content is free. You’re not having to buy auric cells to get it.

And yes you pay for Amazon prime but how many people were already paying for Amazon prime for other reasons anyway like it’s most basic one which is to get free 2-day shipping on their items? I don’t have the numbers but I’d be happy to see any numbers showing me that the majority of dbd players who have Amazon prime, bought it specifically for the prime gaming content. I doubt that info exists because I don’t think that’s the case but if it does I will certainly eat crow if someone can provide it.

the point is IRI shards, rift stuff and prime gaming content is FREE. So if you miss it oh well you missed it but you didn’t have to go into your pockets for it.

That’s the difference between the issue with making time limited items only available with auric cells. You’re creating a situation where people feel they have to get it now before they miss out and the only way to do it is to pay for it.

also yes, other companies do the same ######### but that doesn’t make predatory marketing tactics okay just because others do it. And if your gaming audience is unhappy with you doing this, it’s not wrong for them to say so.

again, I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t really care for myself because I’ll just pay for the auric cells. But I understand that not everyone can do that for whatever reason. Also keep in mind that 500 auric cells is $5. So if you’re buying a cosmetic for 1080 cells you’re essentially paying nearly $11 for that single cosmetic. That adds up.

    1. Irrelevant. Just because they haven't been that way till now doesn't matter whatsoever. Games change directions all the time.
    2. Yes they shouldn't have backtracked so suddenly like that as it causes confusion/mistrust to players but people can and do change their minds. It happens. It's not a big deal. People are allowed to change their minds even if how it went down could have indeed been done better.

It went down poorly and should have been done differently but people are blowing this into way more than it actually is. Yes FOMO makes companies more money, not a surprise, most companies do this, they need to make money. Not a big deal. Honestly for how critical of BHVR I am they are extremely generous when it comes to their game pricing, like 70% of the game (not even getting into all the free cosmetics as well) you can even acquire for free through play time. They didn't need to do that.

This is wild for literally just some skins that can even be bought right now if people care about them so much.

People aren't ignoring the points people are making on this topic as the original post says, they're literally pointing out why it isn't a big deal.

It’s not irrelevant tho. It’s irrelevant TO YOU. That’s my entire point. You can feel that way but others don’t snd their feelings are no less valid than yours just because you don’t think it’s a big deal.

You see this kind of thing in politics and in life all the time where someone has a different view because they've never walked a mile in someone else's shoes and therefore blow off their concerns.

I did 2 gens, 360s+ chase and died on my first hook at 3gens left.... seriously start banning people, this is a joke games like this can even exist. People shouldn't be allowed to do nothing all game and not be punished for it, the fact I ended up with 3 of these players just highlights how common it is.

You can report them for this in endgame.

  • I didn’t get my 25K yesterday. Every time there’s an event with daily login rewards, I don’t get mine half the time. It’s always an issue

  • Asking for a perk to counter exit gate teabagging you say? I got one for you.

Ignore It All: unlocks potential in one’s ability to get over trivial annoyances and stop asking for perks to counter anytime a survivor breathes.

Each time a survivor teabags at the exit gates, it triggers the killers ability to leave the exit gate area and go look for something else to do until endgame collapse finishes.

Killer has the option to break extra pallet & boarded areas, look for hatch to close for extra points or stand in one spot and spin in circles until end game collapse has concluded.

Up until this recently passed Halloween DbD didn't have time-limited sales on cosmetics and once they released cosmetics in the store they were there to stay.

Time-limited sales are a method (in some opinions scummy) to increase sales on the affected items by inducing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) in their customers.

That's not really that bad in and of itself (at least in my opinion) but they are not just applying it to new cosmetics. They are taking old cosmetics that in some cases have already been in the store for years and turning them into time-limited, seasonal items. For example, the ugly sweaters.

Oh I see! Thanks for explaining.

If the community doesn't speak up about shady practices then that's basically giving BHVR the green light to try even worse practices.

So to them I say: Please continue.

Im not understanding the whole issue. Trying to piece it together from all these posts is confusing. So what exactly is BHVR doing and what is the issue with it?

Just had a game against Pinhead. Right off the bat I know it’s going to be an arduous match. Then someone dc’s. Then another. Then another. Why am I getting punished for other survivors crap decisions?

I just made a post about this earlier today. Had the same thing happen. I did the o ly gen that got done. Two survivors suicided on first hook and the third DCed when they got slugged.

I understand BHVR can’t do much for hook suicides because there’s no way to know whether or not it was intentional Mostly, but for matches where someone DCs we should get an automatic safety pip at the least.

I'd also agree that another survivor DCing should guarantee safety pip.

Same! I don’t see why we shouldn’t have it.

  • I’m fine with the killers having lightborn the way it is. In out of 100 games, I’d say I bring a flashlight maybe 5 times. I run flashbang maybe 10 times and I bring blast mine maybe 30 times.

If I run blast mine the most, I’m still getting the stun from it without the blind, and the killer had to use a full perk spot to protect from half of my perks effect. I’d say I’m coming out on top there.

This Flashlight-Buff is a slap into every killers face. Every dog can perform a flashlight-save now. Just activate it and u get the save, there is nothing a killer can do now if the survivor is open field. It doesnt matter if u react and look up, shake around or whatever.

Tell that to the last 10 survivors who tried and failed to give me a flashlight save. 🤣🤣🤣
