There is nothing wrong with a third health state....on all 4 survivors......every chase 😂😂

Also the problem is and always was the free chase extension without prerequisite conditions or real limitations..

Except all four survivors arent running it and/or landing it in every chase. I don’t even run the perk myself at all. The situation you’re describing is extremely rare IF it even happens at all.

dead hard is not about its extra health-state, but actual time it wastes from the killer. You see, if a killer on average hooks a survivor team 8 times per match. That means he has to face at least 8 dead hard per trial. that is 8 potencial extra health-states. 8 potencial extra health-states is a lot of slowdown on killer objective.

the new chapter is attempting to limit the amount of slowdown that survivor can stack against the killer. By limiting DH and Healing, their aim is to reduce the prevalence of second chancing from survivor. They are doing same thing with killer. They're nerfing all regression perks with aim to prevent killer from stacking generator regression. Its not so much about instant down as much as it is related to slowdown towards killer objective of hooking.

Now this makes more sense. I still think limiting DH to one use per match whether it works or not is unfair, but I can see the overall logic. Also this assumes that every survivor is going to run DH and all of them will always be successful with it, and outside of high MMR swfs I’ve not seen any evidence of this being a common occurrence.

Personally I think it should be one SUCCESSFUL use per match (which they actually had originally in the PTB notes but removed) because as I said, DH failures happen all the time due to killer sided lag or DBD server latency which shouldn’t count against the survivor trying to use the perk.

I personally don’t see the issue in allowing it to be one successful use. If you land it, then you get your one dead hard. If you don’t, yes you get to try again but that still means you’re going down and getting a hook anyway.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

you are comparing a collection of perks/addons that require effort, a time investment, or both on the user's part (with the exception of NOED and Haunted Grounds), to a perk that you, prior to the nerf, could activate at the press of a button whenever you weren't exhausted

Forgive me for failing to see the correlation

I’m not speaking about the DH for distance nerf. I’m talking about the current DH that cannot simply be activated by “pressing a button” it actually requires skill and perfect timing to execute correctly. And again, even IF you do that you can still have it not work correctly due to killer lag or server latency issues, neither of which is under the survivors control.

This constant propaganda of DH being “just press a button” really needs to stop. It’s clearly more complicated than that.

  • This is something I’d love the devs to weigh in on should one of them see this post.

  • @Crowman said:

Majority of the expose status effects are conditional and their durations are limited. Meaning survivors can easily avoid the status condition or wait out the timer. Infact, this is stronger evidence for the upcoming DH nerf, because if killer ability to ignore health states are conditional and limited, then survivor ability to have a 3rd health state should also be conditional and limited. And Dead Hard is getting an actual condition to help limit the amount of times it can be used.

But they’re not limited. There may be cooldown periods for some things but there’s no hard limit to how many times a bubba or a billy can use their chainsaws to insta down in a match. Starstruck can hit several times in a match. There's no limit to how many times huntress can use her hatches in a match or trappers traps. So limiting DH to one use (and keep in mind this is one use no matter whether it works or not) doesn’t feel on the same level. And let’s not even get to Myers infinite tier 3.

I don't mean to be that guy, but like... it's not that hard to reach Iri 1.

It's more a statement of how frequently you play than how good you are.

I would expect most people with at least 200hrs to have no trouble reaching Iri

I’ve never had an issue hitting IRI 1 because of how often I play except for the past two months. What happened the past two months? Constant survivor hook suicides and DCs at 4-5 gens, kilers DCing and/or being AFK and as I said, the tunneling out at 5 gens.

Its hard to pip and not depip in those scenarios.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

A metric for... what? It's meaningless. All it does is track a monthly reward stipend.

A lot of people care and want that monthly reward. if you don’t that’s fine but don’t patronize those that do and have an issue with how that system works.

  • I would agree with that change. I’ve been saying that depippping is more often than not unfair because it happens due to circumstances outside of your control.

-Other survivors hook suiciding or DCing immediately making it impossible for you to play long enough to safety pip at least.

-Killer being AFK the entire match either just cuz, or in order to drop MMR so you can’t get any chase/evasion points or altruism points. Or killer DC.

-Killer finding you first and tunneling you out immediately at 5 gens or face calling you out at 5 gens.

Its not fair to lose pips that you earned because of how others play. I’ve been saying they should automatically allow safety pips for any DCs in match. However I’d be in favor of taking away depips but just making pips a bit harder. As long as you keep the pips you earned.

  • I’ve said this multiple times already. The devs/mods simply say they “are aware of the issue and working on a fix” but won’t/can’t give an ETA on when it will be fixed. When I ask why it isn’t being killswitched until then I’ve been ignored. So good luck getting an answer 🤣

  • If you really think the only thing happening with the PTB is that it “adds a few seconds to healing” then you clearly haven’t played the PTB or you’re just oversimplifying the myriad multiple problems and snowball effects these changes as-is are going to have. Either way it’s impossible to have an honest conversation with someone who holds that viewpoint. Have a good night.

Killers often do it as some sort of revenge. Maybe you just spent the last 10mins wasting their time with constant looping, then when they finally get you, suddenly they get a power rush. Is hitting you repeatedly on the hook unsportsmanlike? Yeah possibly, but unfortunately camping be legit.

I don’t have an issue with endgame camping. I’m a survivor main but honestly if I’m the killer and I just spent the entire game getting juked and I get one person on hook, you can bet I’m gonna camp and make sure I get at least that one kill. I get that one honestly.

  • @Ayodam said:

I’ve hit people on hook before (once) and I did it because I wanted to assert dominance like yeah this is the only game where one person/player can literally prevent another player from participating in the game & I’m going to exploit that. I was being an @$$ because BHVR allows it. 🤷‍♀️ I don’t behave that way without provocation but that was the mentality I had when I did it. It was purely schadenfreude and I’m pretty sure it’s at least 70% of the reason why any killer does it. You’re getting a lot of dishonest or misdirecting answers here because the killer mains of this forum want to maintain this weird, deceptive air that they’re persecuted & good people & overly stressed and all that stuff. But I’m not afraid of being honest.

Thank you for your honesty. I appreciate it.

I mean no one can read the Wraith player's mind and tell you why he did that, but it's seems the most likely reason he did that was he was upset that the game went really badly for him so took out part of that frustration by hitting you on hook.

Why does it matter? By letting it get to you -this- much that you went to the forums and made a thread just screams that the Wraith got what he wanted.

As I said in a previous reply, I’m into psychology so I’m interested in the “why” of peoples behavior. This post was meant hopefully for actual killer players to come in and say “oh well when I do that it’s because..” if they choose to do so. Because again, I’m interested in what they’re thinking when they do this stuff.

Obviously I can’t keep other people from coming in and dropping their opinions but this post isn’t the after-game therapy that you seem to think it is. I’m fine. I’ve already played a few matches since I made this post. 🤣 Again? I’m just curious about killer players who do this.

They also ignored the overwhelmingly negative feedback on the mori / unbreakable feature and are still planning on bringing it back later.

I suspect it has something to do with recovery being nerfed on the PTB. They're creating an environment that will easily encourage slugging so in a few months they can try to justify adding basekit unbreakable as the solution.

Basekit unbreakable won’t do jack against the recovery healing nerf. Unless you have a killer that’s gonna leave every slugged survivor on the ground for 2-3 minutes, perks like unbreakable, no mither, flip flop, power struggle etc are gonna be dead.

The same reason survivors t-bag at the exit gate and wait for the killer to show, to be toxic. It's not an inherently killer or survivor thing, its just a bad fact about gamers in general.

I’m not asking about survivors. I’m specifically asking about killers and their mindset/reasoning for this specific action. I’m not interested in any veiled “survivors do stuff too!” replies. We have enough of those posts here.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Firstly your teammates didn't screw you most of the time the smart play is to leave, personally I rarely do actually leave & at the very least try to trade but there are loads of games where a 1k turns inro 2, 3 or even 4k just to save that one hooked person.

But on your main point I imagine they do it because -

    A. It gives them the big man complex oh look at me I got you (just as survivors who t bag at gate pretty much same thing)

    B. Thats just the kinda people they are & they're trying to get a reaction out of you (even if they can't see it) let's face it this post means it worked.

    C. They over committed the whole game, they saw the red mist & weren't thinking all that clearly, almost every killer at some point has over committed & blown the game even if they don't smack in hook when they finally get one.

Both sides in this game do multiple things with the sole intent of upsetting the other side.

Both sides do things that upset the otherside without any intent or malice at all.

Ultimately its up to you how you choose to react or take things & I'm not saying getting upset isn't a natural or logical thing, sometimes I've beyond had enough in this game myself (usually a build up not 1 thing)

I have PTSD & various other issues video games litterally are a big life line freedom for me as such not a lot in game gets to me, face camp bubba nodding & smacking me hey have at it i'm not killing myself i'll drag that hook timer to the last second & genuinely laugh at the killer for losing the game.

Survivors wanna click or t bag have at it i'll just nod do a twirl or t bag back if i'm ghostface.

Again I'm not saying it doesn't suck, lots of things in the game suck at times but it is just a game.

Better luck in the next one!

Thanks for your response but without knowing the details of what happened in my match you’re hardly able to tell me my teammates didn’t screw me, when they in fact did. Anyway thanks for the rest of your reply

  • @Tsulan said:

This is purely to cause a reaction, which it obviously did.

Best you can do is, ignore it and move on.

Obviously I did, I have no other choice. I’m just curious whether or not anyone will actually answer this question honestly, but I’m also curious of their reasoning. I’m into psychology so I’m interested in the “whys” of what people do. 🤣

  • Okay, well in that case y’all may as well just delete the perk. It’s a wasted perk slot unless the player knows for sure there won’t be killer side/server side lag issues. As someone else said, latency issues plus lag on the killers side due to their internet can screw up usage even if the player times it correctly on their end. A one-time use survivor perk dependent on killer lag and latency issues (or one that can be nullified due to those issues behind their control) is just unfair. Just my feedback.

I am not sure if that works also against survivor and if i was lucky last time but as i had a game against a wesker which had me stuck in a corner and wanted to keep me hostage also after the last person died. In my desperation i tried to get out but there it did not work i just dropped my item (wanted to offer it in first place as offering 😂) and suddenly i could walk through him. Funny thing was, i was in shack and the hatch spawned outside of it, so i was able to catch it because he was so suprised he couldn't even react fast enough😂. Welcome in DBD.

Let’s be clear here. Asking anyone to record their matches on a regular basis is too much - especially with a secondary program that requires additional setup. The average consumer is not a streamer. If the game doesn’t do it automatically (like league of legends and r6 siege) then that’s simply just not realistic.

yes, i know it’s possible, but consumers aren’t moderators. And they’re not streamers. If this is truly what should happen then it’s on behavior to provide the match replay system and not the player.

when a player reports another player then the match’s replay gets pulled and the timestamp provided by the report should be enough.

gamebar on pc has a clip feature

    xbox has a clip feature

psn might have a clip feature

    idk about switch.

    Exactly my point

  • I don’t have NVIDIA and as for Xbox game bar, I don’t know how to use that.

Again, I get what you’re all saying but I’m not going to go out of my way to learn outside programs to record my game matches because BHVR can’t be bothered to update their own game and out in better measures for reporting. Not my responsibility or my job, and as long as the rest of their playerbase continue to do it, they have no incentive themselves to take control of their own game and reporting system.

  • @ReikoMori said:

Venting is perfectly fine here, but please record and report incidents like that as it helps with the health of the game.

obs is lightweight and free if you're playing on pc.

It's a hassle I know since you don't normally do that, but it helps a lot to get people like that off the game and trust me when I say this game is usually in need of a jerk purge.

I get that I totally do. But I’m not gonna record every match I play on the off chance that someone is cheating or breaking the rules. That’s an unfair burden especially when their reporting system has zero transparency anyway on whether or not a player was disciplined or banned.

Until BHVR takes actual steps to improve their reporting and transparency system Im not gonna put that burden on myself. It’s not my job.

Alo I’ve tried recording with OBS and it kept freezing up and wouldn’t record sound. I know how to play video games but I’m not a tech person that’s gonna take the time to troubleshoot and figure all that out, especially when I’m not a streamer.

  • @Phantom_ said:

Yes, it is very annoying when this happens to say the least.

I had this happen whilst opening the exit gate, being body-blocked there and the killer being bugged because they were playing Twins and couldn't help out either 😅

I've said this before but survivors really need to lose collision with another and only have it when it's because of a prompt like unhooking/healing, and if you're refusing it it should stop and allow you to go through one another.

Absolutely agree. After a certain amount of time, the collision should disappear and allow survivors to move past one another.

  • I don’t record my matches and I’m not a streamer so that’s a moot point. I’m literally just venting. That’s allowed here if I’m not mistaken.

  • @Peanits said:

I respect the theory, but I assure you there's nowhere near as much scheming going on as you might think. I would love nothing more than to announce some changes and celebrate with people as they say, "Wow, this is perfect!" from the get-go. Obviously that's easier said than done with an asym game, but we try our best.

In reality, we just aren't afraid to try bold things. The PTB exists for a reason. We can try these things out and see how people feel. If it's not popular; that's fine, we can change it before it goes live. We've gotten a lot better at this as time has gone on. There's a lot more knobs and switches we can fiddle with behind the scenes to make these changes a lot quicker than before, making it less risky to try. Basically, be bold, but be receptive.

Ultimately, nobody can say for sure how people are going to feel about something until it's actually out there. Not even us. We would much rather test things and get feedback than be too scared to touch anything and constantly wonder, "What if?"

I appreciate your response but these changes don’t say “bold” to me, they say extreme and overkill. You wanna nerf circle of healing? Cool. Why nerf it to the point that bringing it is a wasted perk slot? If you need a medkit or another survivor to heal you in COH regardless what’s the point of bringing the perk? For the few extra seconds off healing?

You wanna nerf overpowered medkits? Cool. Why nerf them to the point where it makes no sense to even have more than one kind of medkit if the nerf is meant to make sure that no medkit can heal you more than twice per match?

Why is basekit healing even being touched to begin with when you’re nerfing the most popular healing perk and healing items? How is neefing every form of healing all at once helping to balance anything?

    MATH.

Chase, chase, chase. Pallet, window, chase. Mind game, HA! Outplayed, M1... aaaand

    E.

Get bent, Killer. I win anyways, even though you made the right play. Now all that chase time is fully wasted, I am going to sprint burst away and we get to start this process ALL.... OVER... AGAIN.

I’d love to see the actual numbers on this. You saying “math” doesn’t add up to evidence. Cuz again, sounds like a skill issue to me. Survivors learning how to use a high risk perk (that’s doesn’t even work every single time it’s used) that killers don’t want or learn how to counter does not make the perk the issue.

I don't care how much skill it takes or who cried louder about what, the CONCEPT of the perk itself is bad game design. Period.

Says who? You could say that about several perks in this game. Doesn’t change the fact that the first time DH was nerfed, killer mains got what they asked for and then when survivors adapted and learned how to use the scraps that were left, it had to get nerfed again because the issue was never how the perk worked it was the fact that it even existed to begin with and screwed with the killers getting an easy win, and the killer role is clearly favored by devs.

My point is this "walk back" implies the state of the thing getting touched goes from dumpster to non-dumpster status. If the walk back results in it still being trash what exactly is the point of this bluff? Hence why I asked if they said ok we won't nerf healing as bad and gave back 1 second would you have a sigh of relief and say healing is saved or would you still consider the changes overkill?

My point in saying “walking back” is that when they walked back the total gen progress part of the eruption nerf, the pitchforks around here died down. Yes some were still upset but it was nowhere near as bad as it was. Does that mean the nerf didn’t still suck? Nope! It means that BHVRs psychological tactic worked which is my entire point. If they walk back some of what was announced for healing will I be satisfied? Can’t say because I don’t know what the walk back would be. But my point is, even tho it may not work on you, it will work on a large segment of the player base. We’ve seen this happen already. And my point is that it’s all smoke and mirrors if it does work.

  • Changing a healing perk to where you need medkits or another person to heal you to use it is the height of stupidity. Why waste a perk slot when you can just bring a medkit or get a heal from a teammate anyway?

  • @Carth said:

But eruption is still very very bad. Would you be happy/ok if they said "alright instead of 24 seconds it's 23'?

Or maybe, just maybe, the existence of a perk that lets you negate an entire chase by pressing E is bad game design.

You guys said that before dead hard was nerfed last time when it gave a distance boost. It was “all you have to do is press a button it takes no skill!” So what did they do? They made it so that it actually DOES take skill and damn near perfect timing to use accurately. One of the reasons I never used DH myself was because I don’t have the skill to time it right. But other survivors learned how to use the perk and even then it wasn’t guaranteed. Killer lag, latency issues etc and even if you did time it right it still didn’t work. But basically survivors learned how to use the new perk and killers still complained because they didn’t want to learn how to counter it. This dead hard is nowhere near “press a button and negate a chase” it’s high risk, high reward. Killers just don’t want to do what they told survivors to do the last time it was nerfed which was “adapt” and actually learn how to use skill to counter it. DH is perfectly counterable in its current state but when an entire half of the playerbase is too lazy to take the time to do it, then of course it has to go.

Just because a group of people whine and cry the loudest to get what they want doesn’t mean their complaints were valid or necessary. It just means they were the loudest so they got heard more.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

That has nothing to do with anything I said. Also Dead Hard was never that oppressive. If you’re willing to give up 10 top tier killer perks to get rid of one perk that was high risk to use, I’d say that’s a major skill issue for you. IMO anyway

If you need dead hard to ensure a long chase, you aren’t a good player. The game is full of strong tiles and pallets that waste a ton of the killer’s time.

If this was true, killer mains wouldn’t have bitched and moaned about dead hard for months.

  • @Caiman said:

Because healing is an integral part of the game? Along with running around and doing generators, but I don't see you complaining about picking perks for those.

Seeing as how I don’t run gen perks I have no reason to complain about those. Having to run 1-2 perks just to avoid being removed from the game in 2 minutes is beyond ridiculous when we had an item specifically for that or our other survivors. But both of those are being nerfed into the ground

  • My issue is why should I have to run 1-2 perk slots JUST to be able to heal? That’s such a waste all because BHVR decided to nerf all forms of healing across the board and for what? Nobody asked for all that

  • @Green_Sliche said:

Healing of all sorts required a nerf long time ago. At least some hit-and-run playstyle will gain some sense back.

No it didn’t. Circle of healing sure. But nerfing every aspect of healing was not needed and especially not all at once.

  • @Tsela said:

Well because of the gen regression perk nerfs for the killers. Think of gen regressions as "healing" for killers since it's pretty much that for the way the game is constructed. So of course then survivor healing also needs some nerfs

I don’t agree with all the gen regression nerfs either.

  • This entire post is poetry. Nerfing stuff because it’s popular is not a good reason. At this point I’m not convinced that decisions aren’t being made just to troll their playerbase and see how long they can piss people off and still keep them playing the game.

Because these are two completely different forms of healing, both of which were OP. If you nerfed one people would just flood to the other method anyway. Best action is to nerf both now, watch the outcome, and act accordingly.

It’s actually not, but go off. Nerfing base healing speeds, nerfing items used to heal plus their add ons and nerfing a major perk used to heal is overkill. This is on par or worse than their initial eruption nerf. Just because something needs a nerf doesn’t mean you nerf every aspect of it into the ground. That’s exactly why they reversed course on some of the eruption nerf because it was too much and was gonna make the entire perk worthless. This is basically the same with circle of healing and then some.
