  • I'm of the opinion that we should keep it a tie so that both get opened.

Well good, we should be bitter for things like that, cause we're ruining the planet.

Spread the word about food waste, and now you can spread the word about NFTs as well 👍️

    heck ye!

Fair, ignore my first sentence I guess. My main point is that we have to eat food, and food waste is just something that occurs.

We don't have to have blockchain based proof of ownership of things (I suppose NFTs are different to using encryption for something like protecting your bank details, and they're also more wasteful). So NFTs don't meet any fundamental human need (like food does), but they have a massive environmental impact.

Also, who said food waste isn't a taboo? Most sensible people try not to do it.

    fair.

I'm just bitter. I just watched a documentary called "just eat it" recently.

    it's all about food waste.

  • @JPA said:

Then don't waste food I guess?

Just because one thing is wasteful, doesn't justify other forms of waste.

Also, I guess food waste can occur sometimes inadvertently, but we all need to eat food, so people are going to keep wasting food. There is no core human need, like hunger, that applies to owning NFTs.

well, I wasn't saying to waste food, I just meant that I don't know the scope of the energy wasted by NFTs, but I do know the scope of food waste. (most of it is at the production stage, so not wasting it is out of my hands)

I mean permanent around the totem.

sometimes totems are hard to find...

maybe if it also highlighted the totem's aura, so the killer could just go snuff it.

that's still basically a free escape in chase.

Hello, this is my first post on the forums, and I do hope it is in the correct place. I didn't want to jump into the bug report section in case it isn't one.

So, me and my fiancé loaded in a game, map being Mount Ormond, and the entirety of the match went normally, at least, neither of us saw anything out of the ordinary.

After the killer caught all 3 of us, we stuck around to see if the last person was going to escape, killer found the hatch, then walked towards the last person and as soon as he started walking towards him and went for a hit, the entirety of the map turned black and red.

I did cover up names because that is not what is important, just curious if this is a map bug, or an exploit or anything else? First time I saw this in ~340 hours, and we have been getting this map pretty often in the last few days.

    Thank you.

    yeah, I think so.

20% chance to unhook, 6 attemps

I'm pretty sure chances in this case are multiplicative. my statistics are a bit rusty, but I'm pretty sure base chance it's 4x3 = 12%, that means that with more chances to escape (which in this case will increase the escape chance more than the 4% increase from slippery) we get 6 (escape attempts) x 20% (escape chance).

    that's 20% chance on 6 tries.

    obviously, it's not 120%.

let's look at it like dice.

let's say you have 6d5 (not real dice, just go with it), and you need to roll at least one 5.

(and this is the point where I forget how to move further with the math)

in conclusion, run deliverance/kindred and don't ######### on hook. :P

so, yeah, about 74% to succeed.

(thanks for helping me, I always forget the exponents.)

  • @Shenlong1904 said:

I want to calculate my total chance of escaping the hook.

    With a 4% base chance + 9% from up the ante + 3% from Vigo's jar of salty lips = 16% chance

If I also run slippery meat, I get an extra 4% for each unhook attempt

    With this, we end up with the formula X = 12+4N (16%, 20%, 24%, 28%, 32%, 36%)

How can use this formula to calculate my total chance, since the chances don't stack?

    Thanks in advance

NFTs and cryptocurrency rely on an extremely complicated mathematical process for the entire chain of transaction and ownership back to their creation, in order to work as both a ledger of who owns what and means of verifying that, yes, this electronic marker has changed ownership--and to prevent anybody from faking it.

But, this takes enormous computing power. Consider that a modern GPU can use up to 350W, and the setups for these (though generally not using those monsters exclusively) are basically computers with half a dozen GPUs. And then crypto miners fill rooms with them. It adds up, worldwide, to using gigawatts of power on nothing productive.

    @Sonzaishinai said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2650021#Comment_2650021

A lot of things are environmentally damaging. Most of those things are more important then an nft though.

I don't know the exact numbers but i know it's not a small amount of wasted energy. It's very large for how pointless nft's actually are.

Other people can probably explain it better though. I didn't even know what they were before the whole pinhead debacle.

    @GoodBoyKaru said:

    Right in short

    • You don't own the image

You have no legal rights to whatever NFT you purchased, it's simply a link to a receipt saying you own it while everyone else can use it for free.

    • Energy consumption

It takes a lot of energy to transfer crypto, a lot of energy to mine it, and a lot of energy to store it, as well as a lot of energy to sell the NFTs. All of this energy, most of which is coal power (if you don't know, very bad for the environment) is being essentially wasted because you might as well just buy the actual image.

    • Money laundering

NFTs are usually used as a money laundering scheme, purchasing one with dirty money, selling it for clean money, and basically meaning the theft can't be tracked

    • No guarantee

Servers shut down? Out of luck, no more NFT for you. Someone doesn't give you the NFT after you've paid? Out of luck you have no legal rights. URL to the receipt expired? People can replace it with malware for free and you lose access to the NFT

    • Way of rich people flexing on poor people, again

They serve no purpose except to let rich people flaunt their wealth.

If you'd like an in-depth explanation, here's a Twitter thread on it:

    And also this:

    https://twitter.com/TricksOfShadows/status/1450163143443845123?s=20

Hope I could help explain why they're very very bad

Basically, rich people are flexing on the people by being horrid to the environment and flexing on less privileged people over pictures of Pinhead dabbing or whatever.

    I see why they suck.

  • @RainehDaze said:

Because they're an environmentally harmful way of saying "look, I have a certificate saying I own this jpeg". But the file itself can be copied regardless, so it doesn't do anything.

Honestly man I'm disgusted, and absolutely sick and tired of swf. It's been a massive issue for years, and on here and reddit killers complain in massive quantities, as a matter of fact it's the biggest issue most killers have.

I hop on wanting to have a good time in the morning before I start my day. Just wanna play a few matches and grind some bloodpoints to lvl up my killers. I need alot of perks for them bc I just switched to PC.

I play legion, and immediately I get paired with a an swf group where all 4 of them are running BT, DH, DSTRIKE, and some form of speed perk, ontop of 3 of them running purple flashlights with insta blind add-ons and one had the healing boon.

All match, they clicked at me, teabagged every chance they got, grouped up on gens while I was chasing someone else. Abused deadhard to make it to windows and pallets for free when they should have been downed, then had the audacity to teabag and taunt after the free escape like the did something great. Abused borrowed time by standing still teabaghing knowing he was invincible and then I hit him, and the free speed rush got him to a pallet where he teabagged some more.

I got three hooks. Then they decided to take the end game hostage and all three clicked and tried to blind me until I forced them out the gate. The last one just used deadhard to the exit gate for a free escape. Weeeee... so hard. Playing survivor is a joke. The devs hold their hands man. Then they act cocky like they are actually playing well or like pros. Dude, you ALL have second chance perks. You all are coordinating. Lmao.

This is constantly happening. I can't play the game and just enjoy myself. It's nothing but bully fests. Match after match after match.

I have a match like this, and I already just wanna quit. It's awful. Why won't the devs address how strong this is? It's a joke. You can feel how disadvantaged you are going against this. 16 perks and add-ons and coordinating!? Seriously?

It would be different if this was a rare encounter but I'm legit finding myself doing these kind of matches almost every other match I play. It's constant.

Teams need caps! Or killers need boosts against teams! Period! Killers don't play this game just be jesters for bully teams that wanna be A-holes. We want to enjoy ourselves too, and if we can't.

We just leave! Then your ttv squads can just stream lobbies all day for their followers Instead.

Their behavior is appalling. I've never in my life played a game this toxic. I assumed the MMR would help but I haven't seen any difference really.

The first time I play a killer the first match is fine, then immediately I'm playing against nothing but squads. Swf is getting worse and more common these days.

    tastes like salt.

    and friendship.

I just realized that Bioshock would be an excellent source to draw from for Dead By Daylight. I feel like the same thing they did with Resident Evil would serve the game best. Something from each game. Killer, survivor, location. Like, for example, a Big Sister for the Killer, Booker & Elizabeth for Survivors, and Fort Frolic as the Location.

To that end, what classic enemy would you like to see as the Killer?

I went with a splicer since obviously big daddy's getting a ton of votes.

also, I think a splicer could have a more interesting power.

Big daddy could be a cool Bubba/Billy legendary skin, though.

  • @RainehDaze said:

See, the Deathslinger thread earlier made me wonder. Aside from Nurse showing up in someone's face, it doesn't seem like any killer that has an aim or timing requirement to their power is allowed to have it work at a speed that doesn't allow for reactions--the closest is if a survivor is standing right where Pinhead's chains are going to fire.

But why? Especially someone like Deathslinger, who has one chance in a chase or it's blown; is there any good reason that a successful power use needs two survivor mistakes (the first obviously being in a position to be targeted) on top of the killer's skill to succeed?

It seems to be an undercurrent to suggestions for how Spirit/Blight should be nerfed: control of the outcome must rest on the survivor mistake side after they're aware its coming.

I guess because it'd be boring to play against a killer with no counterplay?

My favourite part is that it's an anti-loop power that can be broken by the time you walk round the loop. Or vault the loop. Or break the pallet. All are slower than the survivor breaking the chain and running away.

Or the bizarre "hit someone, go round pallet, they slow vault over it without even bothering to break the chains, and are still faster".

wait, I thought it was an anti-m1 power???

also, I think it should probably have a bigger hitbox at range.

also, the range increasing addons should have it take longer to break chains, so that they do stuff.

You can’t say she takes no skill anymore because survivors now have something to react to and you can’t stand still to get free hits anymore. I would say that she is in the top 10-15 skill requiring killers in the game right now. There’s unique mind games with her that require you to execute the mind game while losing sights of survivors. With old Spirit, sometimes you didn’t really need to see them as they had no idea where you were so it wasn’t exactly a mindful mind game with that.

What are your thoughts? I definitely think the fact that Spirit is as rare as a unicorn now proves she takes way more skill than before.

(Yes I know this is like my 57396205th thread on Spirit but I just love talking with people about her.)

my big thing about spirit's nerf was the stealth/jumpscare aspect.

I recommend running devour, Yakuyoke Amulet, and Furin.

in my last game using the build, I mori'd someone who's gamertag was scaryspirit* after hitting them once. no hook states. big oof for them, but I bet it was scary.

This game sometimes feels like a machine designed to produce rage and frustration, but every so often you'll run into a match that makes you feel all fuzzy.

Last night - I got queued into an odd group.

There was one extremely experienced Nancy who somehow got paired with a Dwight and an Ash who were clearly very new. There was also a Zarina who knew what she was doing - but after I got 3 hooks almost immediately, she DCed. I definitely went in hard initially - Haddonfield offerings always make me leery.

Instead of giving up or going off solo, the Nancy persevered.

I watched her from the rooftop using gestures to herd the Dwight and Ash around, pointing at where to go. Initially, I was confused. What was she doing?

Well - she was actively teaching them the game.

I ended up easing up significantly and played along - sure enough, the game turned into a genuinely enjoyable mini tutorial for the two newbies.

It was just a lot of fun watching her playing babysitter to two newcomers and actually succeeding - she showed them which gens to do, which vaults to use when I approached, how to find my hexes, how to play a pallet (with me cooperating) and which lockers to hide in. All entirely through gestures and them imitating/practicing what she showed them.

I ended up letting all 3 go after two hooks. We all got a ton of BP.

Postgame - sure enough it was the Zarina who had brought the offering, and as I suspected the Ash and Dwight were very new. They thanked both me and the Nancy.

We all had a few laughs and ended up adding each other.

Due to the amount of toxic/annoying people you run into in DbD, it's easy to forget that there are also some genuinely nice people out there.

    Here's another.

I was playing against a brand new demo on hawkins a few days before demo got removed from the store.

they weren't confident enough to play super seriously, and clearly matchmaking had not been kind to them.

so, I refused to leave, and got them to hook me.

after I got saved, they refused to kill me, and tried to carry me out, but I stayed for the endgame collapse so they'd get a kill.

  • I also had a game where I played against a solid nurse player who let me survive unharmed (barring when I took hits for people).

I thought maybe they were farming, but in the postgame they said they saw my pronouns in my name and couldn't bring themselves to hurt my digital avatar.

They were good and I probably would've had more fun playing against them normally, but I appreciated the sentiment.

Side note: Just adding your pronouns to your gamertag, whether or not you're genderqueer, is a great way to do a small bit of activism. it'll take less than a minute to do, and It'll make the world a better place. (same thing applies to sig files for email)

If you dont know what this exactly is you may wanna dodge this thread. To all other ppl:

I think we came to the point where a good half of the playerbase uses this kind of modification. I think this is very unhealthy for the game and destroys the fun of most of the Killers or Survivors. I believe that BHVR should do something against it JUST like modding back then.

You can stretch your screen as survivor horizontal to see over loops so there is no mindgame anymore from the Killer part which is just busted and should not be allowed in the first place.

Killers however can also stretch their screens so for example on a Nurse you dont have any downsides. You know when you get the fatigue stun as Nurse you look down with a black screen for a short moment to give the survivors abit of time to maybe break line of sight and add abit of skill play to Nurse.

Well you can just go around it by stretching your screen that much that you still see everything infront of you and now slap on some reshade to get rid off the black screen of the fatigue and bam you have no downside after a blink fatigue. Same goes to Blight where you stretch your screen to the left and right so much that you dont really need to look around while you rush cuz you simply see everything.

I think both sides get an very disgusting and unhealthy way of advantage for using 3th party programs and this should come to an end slowly, its just boring and sad. Yes I know that its for free and I or anyone can do that aswell but that is not the point, in other games you get banned straight for using those kind of things, I am suprised that BHVR allows it or atleast doesnt do anything against it.

Small addition, you can also use Reshade on Nvidia or other programs to increase the colors of the game so the color red for example is way more visable which makes it for the Killer easier to see blood and scratch marks which is also an advantage you can get.

If you still are not convinced that these methods are not unfair advantages then you simply are delusional or just trying to defend it cuz you use these things yourself. I am not talking about ppl who increase their FOV slightly to get the Shadowborn effect slightly, I wouldnt do it myself but this isnt a big problem imo. However stretching your screen to just look over tiles or see 200% more on your edges of the screen is basicly cheating.

I think it needs to at least not interfere with revealing ghostface. bare minimum, if it does that, it's cheating.

    also, it's ugly. so ugly.

This isn't a suggestion, I'm thinking about this a bit more before I actually put this into suggestions/feedback. So, I'm just looking for a general insight about this.

I don't know about anyone else, but I feel like gen kicking in on it's self has become slightly obsolete without any other perks. I'm not too keen with general regression of normally kicking the gen, but would you find it strong if kicking a gen had a slight base percentage to kicking a gen as well as normal progression. Nothing huge and with the option to not be able to stack with Pop's super kick. I'm thinking like 3% or something, it's extremely small but it would allow maybe some slight changes I'm killer builds.

I thought about this for a while now since playing some killers with no map pressure is just brutal with dealing with that option. Maybe depending what the killer's power is it would allow the percentage to be bigger, basically, anyone who can get around the map in seconds has a lower percentage while much slower killers have a slightly bigger percentage to a normal gen regression.

Do you find this as a good choice or would you suggest something else to combat this.

I think that kicking should automatically grant 10% and pop should be +15%.

I don't think it's overrated. Considering how bad gen regression perks like Ruin and Pop are right now due to being inconsistent, having a guaranteed slowdown of 1 minute at the endgame imo is huge. Especially because survivors usually try to push through the last gen ASAP while injured, so you can easily snowball.

I doubt BW would give more kills though. It's easily countered by 99ing gates.

check out "Benjo - DBD shorts" on youtube. some excellent blood warden plays.

That's all good but you need to bear in mind you have to tackle genrush and slow them down as well. Bamboozle wastes a perk slot imo unless it's in a specific chase build wear you have no gen protection

I think at this point it generally excepted that killers don't get 5 gen games anymore.

I recommend running deadlock, it can really slow down the game, and it gives you good information.

I remembered reading that even after the hatch is closed no way out can still activate. So i tested it and i kinda found the killers version of tbagging at the exit gate i guess lol. I felt so bad though and wonder if this is a good thing. Before no way out didn't do this if i remember correctly. Do you guys think it should activate after hatch is closed?

    https://youtu.be/wTSERy7tCQ0

I mean, if you close the hatch, there really is no way out. especially if you run remember me.

I've been trying to make NWO work with the nemesis ink roll addon.

I've lost some survivors because of that, but they're always visibly scared.

  • I know, multiples or 8 are just the system they use.

I'm not a dev, that's just the pattern.

Dead hard should trigger automatically and give broken status effect.

I'm of the opinion, in its current state, equipping dead hard should make you permanently broken, and then people will have a reason to run no mither.

  • @TheDuhJ said:

I think deadhard should become what it actually is, a second chance perk. It should make it so that once per game you can tank an instadown from full health. If you are not at full health it doesnt work so its not like mettle. Idk what you would do for perk levels on that, but whatever. Maybe you have to work on a certain gen percentage for it to be activateable and then it works.

that would be a lot more lore accurate too...

There are lots of discussion about DBD. Has it a competetive side? Is it just a "Party Game"?

This is the most useless discussion ever. No one can decide for others how they perceive the game. A game naturally always has a competetive side though. Its human nature. If you just wanna chill, then thats okay too.

What is extremely annoying though, is that people act like there perception of the game is a straight fact. There are reasons for both sides and both are legit. It is extremely arrogant to act like saying DBD is just a random party game for EVERYONE is a straight fact. Its also nonsense to use it for arguments when it comes to the balance of the game. Balance should be done with the help of objective Data, not with the help of the feelings of people.

Also you are not entitled to tell me how to enjoy or play a game.

Opposing Opinions can be legit and coexist at the same time. I wish more people would realize that instead of just talking after what their favourite streamer says.

    I like DBD.

as long as people having fun, I don't care what they do, so long as it doesn't kill other people's fun purposefully.

Whoops my bad. But still my point stands. What is 24 anyway hasn't the Devs heard of using good solid numbers dang.

    it's in multiples of 8...

I used Watching for you watch (green) and Tequila Moonrock (yellow).

I got a clicky uber group of top rank survivors so I tapped them with knives until I just needed one more to activate main event, injured them and lured them into the open. Then I tapped the final knife, activated main event and chased those injured clickers until they fell down.

    love that.

Self Preservation. I sometimes have teammates who bring the killer to me when they are getting chased, so this perk helps a lot.

I agree, lots of fun to use.

Or do you take a more balanced approach?

These days, I'm leaning more away from regression perks in general, as I find that a lot of the time, Ruin can be inconsistent and if I'm struggling enough to want the regression, Pop is of limited help.

Instead I'm leaning more towards an information heavy, maximum offense/pressure build and just straight unga-bunga'ing it. Nothing gets people off gens like two people on hooks.

LP+Plaything+Retribution+BBQ/Discordance is probably my main build on any non stealth killer right now.

    On stealthies, it's usually LP+Devour Hope+Retribution/STBFL+Monitor/BBQ

    fun.

if I'm feeling sweaty, I'll play twins (best equipped perk being bamboozle, so...)

Interesting, not quite what I was expecting.

I also enjoy a stealthy Nemmy. I usually run Monitor(the extra FOV really helps on him)+Plaything+Retribution (above all else, he needs info)+BBQ/Discordance (to get the zombies doing stuff).

The amount of times I've straight up grabbed people thanks to plaything...it's amazing.

    for sure.

I love plaything/retribution (or devour if you're feeling particularly cruel - most people assume it's someone else's plaything totem)

I was partially making a meme build, I know plaything's better for stealth. this one's a bit more semi-random stealth.

also, I haven't unlocked plaything on nemi yet.

I love tragic characters, and Carmina's lore is a real hit for me, but I'm not quite making the leap for why she's killing people in the Entity's realm.

I get that grief and guilt are her driving motivators, and the events she suffered towards the end of her lore are heavy contributors towards a total breakdown that might have seen her snap completely. Plus she's got a near-psychic connection with a flock of crows that's only interested in her preservation and will attack anyone else, and that horrified her when it panned out in full - so at first it looks like she's a new kind of killer. A person who doesn't actually want to harm anyone, but has no control over her power and hurts others just by wandering near them. Definitely seems ripe for the Entity's emotional harvesting and checks out with her intrinsic theme of guilt.

Except her actions in game still have her as a willing participant in the sacrifice process; she chases survivors, claws at them, and hooks them. The chasing could be waved away, possibly even the clawing as desperately reaching out for help, but slapping people on meat hooks is pretty deliberate. So there has to be something more to that, but I don't see the motivator to kill within her lore. The most she ever tried was in self-defense.

She's not the first tragic killer where it doesn't immediately intuit why they'd turn homicidal, but I could follow the logic of the others more easily. The Nurse went mad and thought she was putting everyone out of their misery (or in her tome, cleansing the system), Hag is half-starved and both she and Spirit are phantasmic remnants of their living selves, with an insatiable vengeance driving their continued existence, Plague doesn't necessarily like what she's doing but believes it's part of a divine plan, and the Twins are misanthropists who distrust humanity to the point of killing in preemptive self-defense.

The Artist's story reminds me the most of the Wraith's - you can see the snapping point, but the reason why he went on to murder everyone in the Entity's realm was way less clear until his tome lore, and even then, it's still heavily inferred. But that inference is that the Entity locked him in that moment of total rage when he snapped and killed Azarov, and Carmina doesn't really have that equivalent? It felt more like she was looking on in horror but powerless to do anything to stop it. So... is she possessed? An unwilling passenger in her own body? Has she merged consciousness with the crows?

Maybe someone else has a different take that'd make more sense of this.

I think she's another example of the entity corrupting someone over time.

Yeah, it could be an interesting concept but i do like the legion we have though

so do I, I was just really confused when, before getting the game, I read their lore and ability on the wiki, watched their teaser, and was very confused.
