I'm thinking about it because, last game, i didn't bring borrowed time to protect my teammate... and the killer by-passed me to hit him. Playing without BT is really puting a toll on your team. So i thought... why not add a 5th perk slot? Like that i can do a funny 4 perk build, and add BT on top of it to make sure my team wouldn't be penalised. Of course, if you add another possible second chance perk to survivor... you need to do the same for killers. And i think, even for killers, that it could be an interesting way to strengthen them... since 4 perks is a bit short "especially for hexes play".
What's your thoughts?
could be fun.
could be not so fun.
I'd make it a custom match option though.
they really aren't that custom at all, all you can do is make restrictions...

I'm genuinely curious to know who plays the game casually just to have fun on either side or plays in a more competitive nature on either side?
Plus your reasoning for doing so.
For me, I did play this game extremely competitively back in the day but as of over the last year I just play to have fun on either side. I'm not going in to be a sweat as survivor nor killer, it's rare I do honestly.
I like to go in and just have good chases at least and some funny teabags(I know a lot of people find it toxic but to me I can't find a character in an online game doing an action toxic. It's funny asf, whether I play killer or survivor) and as killer I like to go in and just mainly throws hatchets with Huntress to get some good hits.
Although I'm not a fan of sweaty and competitive players. I'm not gonna disrespect your opinion just because I don't agree with it. If it's extremely ignorant that's when I just won't respond.
this maybe should have been a poll.

I have a video on my pc that I'll try and get uploaded tomorrow when I have a moment, but basically we're playing Midwich and I'm breaking a door.
Only to discover, on the other side, a snowman. The cold, dead eyes staring at me as it menacingly, tantalisingly slowly approaches. The sounds of it's steps light because its an inflatable snowman, yet horrifying enough to instill a sense of pure dread.
Those things are ######### scary.
I set up a screenshot of myself in a snowman at a window. it was funny.
I also had a meme filled round where I pretended to be a weeping angel, following around the killer when they weren't looking.

Personally, I and I'm sure others are having a lot of fun with the new Snowman Feature for this event, but, some are in disagreement about it. So, The question I'm sure everyone is asking: Should this return as a DbD Tradition during this holiday season?
I would also ask the same of the Halloween Canker/Pustules, while broken in their original form, I don't feel they deserved the axe and with some refinement could easily come back to make Halloween events more interesting. Likewise Nome Chompsky has quickly become a favorite and should be expanded upon.
The Devs gave the Crowns cosmetics 2 runs for the anniversary event, but the lantern run for the chinese new year only 1... WTH? Both of these were fun for everyone, and should be allowed to return, or at least given some refinement to make them more fun.
SO, you've got to let us know, Should it stay or should it go?

Really? Interesting.
I quite like playing Hag and on the...maybe 1 occasion I've played against her I had a lot of fun. So many people forget that you can safely detonate her traps if you are careful, or just crouch over the things.
The only time she can be annoying is when she dumps traps under and around hooked survivors - which I try to refrain from doing unless it's EOGC and I don't have a kill.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2690383#Comment_2690383
That would be awesome. Something like Victor's leap or Demo's Shred animation maybe.
yeah, just visually having her go into a crouch (like halfway through her trap setting animation, combined with the arm animation from her reveal trailer), and then jump forward.
that's my idea for hag.
Maybe Ghostie could do a 20 degree jump into a stab from his lobby practice stabs.
Freddy could just have his arms lengthen as a callout to the original film. (this one may look more than a bit goofy if done improperly)

When I play Hag, I never trap hooks (unless the survivors activate my rage mode) and instead place traps more like Trapper would - areas I expect people to run to in chase or areas I expect people to run to passively. Hexes at the start and generators once some have been completed. I do fairly well with her, though smart survivors can rip this apart more easily than they can hook trap spam.
Would that playstyle still annoy you? I get mixed signals when I play her and some people are still pissed about it.
I recommend trapping the long side of loops instead of at points of interest like trapper does.

Hag is generally where I get BMed in postgame for it - although that's probably because, while not quite as powerful as some make her out to be, Hag is pretty good and people have no idea how to play against her a lot of the time (I've had situations where people don't even register that I'm a killer at first).
But yeah, I wish small killers had a different lunge animation so people would realize that yes - that was just a standard lunge hit.
I mean, Hag's special lunge being a short distance pounce would be perfect (something like the pounce from her mori).
-
@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2689849#Comment_2689849
I get this all the time on Hag - it's really just a matter of a smaller killer model having the same range. It wouldn't be fair to reduce their lunge range artificially.
oh, I know, I just wish the animation matched the hitbox better.
maybe more of a tackling lunge? maybe leaning forward more when lunging?
(shrug)
It's less of a big deal on hag, personally.

I mean go through the snowman, and hit whoever's inside.
Victor pounces, for example, should pop the snowman, but not give a free kick.
other than more evidence of twins getting abandoned, I'm actually really liking the event.

@Bennett_They1Them Excuse me? Only extends the game... That's the main goal of all the meta killer perks. More time to break pallets and chases is the most wanted resource killer can have.
Issue with the perk is though, that for a 40s game delay it requires killer to spread his focus (which is the least efficient thing a killer can do) evenly for a one time use and not a even a huge value (depends on the trial, of course, sometimes it is game swaying things, more often though it does little) while not running anything else in the slot Grim Embrace uses.
well, yes, extending the game is good, it just pauses the game, though.
it'd be better if you knew where survivors were, since survivors won't be at generators while it's active.
it's probably best right now on doctor, or some other information based killer.

I get it, it's Christmas, it's the holiday season and people should enjoy this time of year. I see no problem with that but people can't just ignore the porblems with the snowmen just because of that. Snowmen aren't balanced, they're another health state for Survivors that can't be countered, or requires an absurd amount of effort to be countered. Playing more chill also isn't viable (atleast in my experience) because Survivors aren't playing any more chill than before the update
what do you mean, everyone's playing more chill...

time isn't linear in the fog, it's Jeremy Bearimy.
for real though, I'm pretty sure time is all through the entity's perspective, and since the entity is immortal and likely experiences time differently, the linear time outside of the fog is slightly reflected within the trials, but only in fragments.
actually, I bet time is functioning a bit like it works in Dark Souls II.

In M.Cote’s interview with “king” and “Pauline Esther” he said that a killer could not also exist as a survivor, I don’t understand how this can be the case as multiple versions of the same person CAN exist at the same time (i.e four bills loading into a match, etc).
This also links back into stopping of blighted events despite Talbots grimes still existing (nemisis and pyramid head outfits)

Oh not at all, I'm very obtuse as well when it comes to Jokes that actually have relevance.
See:
They could try to differentiate themselves from the market by pasting the DBD logo on a Pride charm, but that just comes across as being tone-deaf and money-grubbing.
But, they could make the Charm a DBD logo with the color gradient of the Pride Flag, (Though that might be just as tone-deaf, as I might be tone-deaf given I'm a straight guy and not that active in that scene)
eh, pride coloured stuff is fine.
I don't think anyone would have an issue with a BHVR sticker with pride colouration. it's different when a bank or something does it, but BHVR is clearly an ally, so it'd be fine with company stuff.
plastering a logo on pride stuff may be off colour (pun intended), but I think it'd be mostly inoffensive.

This is INCORRECT. It does NOT count Shock Therapy. It only counts the Static Blast (the one that builds up and then shocks everyone in a large radius around you; default button is CTRL on PC).
It’s very hard to complete. As others said, you basically need certain addons, offerings, and perks to have a chance.
I got it on ormond using a cooldown addon, a TR boosting addon, Distressing, and a couple of B-tier perks (Blood favour, overwhelming presence, and surge, all at tier II)
*I'm aware blood favour is A- tier, at least, now.

Yep, hence the Social Media poke to attempt to filter out "noise" (if not just common sense from marketing).
right.
I was just making a joke about how the most worn charm is easily the pride pin (in my experience, at least), so if they only used analytics, they'd have trouble.

I think you should be able to see the obsession for the duration. or maybe all survivors.
my main issue with the perk is that it only extends the game. it's like Dead Man's Switch meets No Way Out. the most useful part is the random aura reading, and if I wanted that, I'd use undying on its own.
-
@AnObserver said:

Plot twist, they're gathering analytics of the most used Charms in order to maximize short-term profit on the Charms perceived as having the highest demand and will be releasing them later (Presumably after a marketing poke of an array of "Which one would you, if you could?" in order to get some early production for an easier release based on demand)
...and they profit less than anticipated since there are many pride pins on the market.

It's an interesting perk this, I've not played with it as killer yet, I'm looking to see which builds it will work well with on the weekend
I highly recommend Pentimento + plaything + devour/blood favour/thrill/retribution + (free space)
you'll either get a ton of free hits/downs/information, or you get massive slowdown. Also, as for devour and blood favour, most people assume they're other people's plaything totems and don't bother cleansing them. 😈
-
@tippy2k2 said:
I'd expect that for the next two weeks as this event gives Survivors extra fun stuff to do while putting killers at a minor (or major for Ghost face or Twins) disadvantage.
Artist too, surprisingly. if you hit an occupied snowman with ranged crows, the survivor won't get swarmed.
luckily for me, (even at rank 1*) people aren't kicking victor after the snowman gets popped. I guess they're being polite or something.
*I'm aware this isn't mmr, but I'm getting paired with other high rank players, meaning they've been playing a lot recently, so it's likely they aren't failing to kick victor due to lack of knowledge.
-
@PsychoTron said:
Lets say you have 2 rekindled totems at the moment. Do you get the reduction for healing speed and gen speed?
yep.
you get more areas of slowdown for each totem.
I highly recommend running it with plaything + devour/thrill/blood favour (blood favour works especially well)
I'd also recommend holding off on rekindling totems until you can get more than one up, it'll give survivors time to forget where totems were, and you'll get more slowdown since it'll take longer to get rid of the gen speed reduction.

If sound wasn't as important in game I'd like to listen some of your songs if they're all as good as this one while playing. I'll definitely give a hear to the rest of the playlist later.

Been trying to make sense of this contradictory viewpoint for a while now. The only fun part of the game for survivors is interaction with the killers and being chased, and anti-loop powers or mobility powers that make it hard to play around loops are therefore bad... but a short game where you're only being chased and then you get sacrificed is also unfun?
If chases are the only fun part of the game, how is a short game where you're tunnelled not fun? How can people then complain it doesn't let them play the game?
I think the issue is more about being tunneled off the hook and not getting to play after you've been downed once.
This is my opinion:
Camping - fine in small doses as long as they aren't BMing for no reason.
Tunnelling: fine, as long as I still get to play and I don't get farmed by my teammates. Not having even hook distribution is fine.
Both: I guess I don't get to play this round... :/

While encouraging unique builds is nice, the issue with the grind is that it heavily restricts the build that you want regardless of whether it's unique, meta, or anything in between. I have to pray to RNGesus if I want to hope that I can unlock the taxi Killer build in a remotely reasonable time frame.
agreed.
maybe there should just be a build randomizer or something.
idk.
-
@RainehDaze said:
... why? I honestly don't get why someone could think it's at a remotely acceptable level especially given the game just dropped for free on yet another platform to bring in new players.
Like, let's take my current thoughts: I want to play with Artist's Scourge Hook perk, so I need to get her to level 35. Then I need to farm out the one character I've been unlocking perks on consistently so I can get that. Hm, but if I'm considering double scourge hook play, maybe I should grab Agitation? Well, I haven't done anything with Trapper, so that's another 40 levels plus perk unlocks...
To play with one perk combo on one character. That's... what, 1.5mil BP for 75 levels? 2 mil? Which is, optimally, about 21 games with BBQ+max BP, and if we're generous and say 4 games an hour factoring in gameplay and queuing and loading screens and menu, that's five hours minimum. 10 hours if we halve that BP gain just for things not going perfectly.
10 hours of farming and not trying anything new until I can play... one perk combo.
There are 25 more killers alone to theoretically level. And prestige. And then there's survivors too.
Personally, I don't mind the grind. I like seeing numbers go up.
I think the fact it's not skippable helps people play unique builds (since it forces them to), and unique strategies are good.
However, it shouldn't be required, since it does limit accessibility.
-

I don't know if it'll work, but I could tell how much you wanted to try it out.
