This is your own mindset. You have to think for yourself when you would enjoy playing a Killer. If your main reason for enjoyment is winning, then there is no reason to play any other Killer than Nurse. If you want to have fun, you can paly any Killer you like, but need to have the right expectations. You can have fun playing Trapper, you can also 4K with Trapper, but obviously it is less likely than to do that compared to other Killers.
In general, every Killer can win matches more matches than you lose, if you are decent with them. But overall, it is really a mindset-thing. When I play Killer, I play to win, but not to a point that winning is my only way to enjoy playing Killer. So I dont care too much if I lose, especially if I play a lower tier Killer or a Killer I am not good at.
I could just play Nurse all the time and slug and tunnel a lot on her, I would probably have a way higher Killrate than I usually have, but this would not be fun for me.

It is a joke that this is a map anyway. I am a huge TWD-Fan and I would have been fine with no map at all. But it is clearly visible that they had to design a Map in the last second for the Chapter and what we got was one unique Tile on one of the most boring (since it is a C&P of Rock Loops) and killer-sided maps in the game, all under an ugly filter.
My only hope for this map is that the Devs are working on an actual proper map for TWD, there are enough locations which can be featured as a map, with the prison being the most obvious one IMO.

I really loved this map at first until I really got to play it a bit on multiple killers. It is genuinely Ormond Resort 2.0, like the original Ormond. The wiki doesn't show the exact square-tile size of the map yet, but its gotta be close to 200 square tiles, because it feels like by far the largest map in the game. Genuinely, standing at the furthest generator on edgemap and looking at the furthest generator away on the other side of the map its like 10 pixels on my screen. How is any killer other than Jason or Ghoul supposed to get a 4K here against semi-competent survivors that don't group up? I have never felt like I held my W key for 40 seconds straight without having a chance to hit a survivor with my chains as Pinhead or a hatchet as Huntress until I played this map. There are far too many safe indoor areas to juke killers for a map so massive.
Oh, and not to mention, its boring on survivor because its nothing but god-pallets that cut off entire alleyways, or windows that chain into another window 10 meters away. So 90% of survivor gameplay is just also holding W with the occasional spacebar press. And the map, as ginormous as it is, doesn't have a SINGLE great height to use perks like Balanced Landing, Boil Over, or All-Shaking Thunder. This is the second map in a row they've added to the game that doesn't have a great height (Walking Dead map). Its like while making this map they forgot these perks existed and that not every killer can fly/teleport.
Kudos to the visual design team tho, by far the best looking map we've gotten. They seriously need to rebalance it though, its too large and too flat.
The map is really not that big. The pure size of it is on the average size, if I remember correctly they said that it is around the same size as Dead Dawg Saloon, which is not considered a huge map. But the map appears bigger, because there is no direct connection from one side to the other, which is something other maps usually feature. Even a pure Indoor Map like Lerys has an option to traverse it in a straight line from one side to the other, Tricksters Delusion does not allow that, which makes the map look bigger already.
I would also not say that the map is really safe. Aside from very few God Pallets, the Map does not really offer much for Survivor. Most Pallets are extremely bad and if people really struggle with those, I have to imagine they kick way too many of those unsafe Pallets. I can win on it with Killers who are around B- and C-Tier (my last match on it was with Nemesis), so I have to assume others will win on it as well even if they dont play Ghoul or Jason.
But yeah, the map is overall miserable and I said it from the start that it might end up being one of the most hated maps for both sides after the honeymoon phase is over, where people were excited that it was such a good-looking map. In the end it is a glorified Indoor Map, it does not play different than one and while some Killers really play very well on it, most dont. And meanwhile the Survivor gameplay is also pretty boring and there is not much to work with.

It's not a totally insane idea. The other team gets to bring 16 perks and can have multiple instances of the same perk as well.
The change up would make for a whole new crazy era of killer perk builds using 5 slots. 5 totem builds would be crazy.
This is the type of thing they should throw in a temporary 2 week game mode for and just see what happens.
Comparing the raw numbers does not really make sense, because Killer Perks are usually stronger than Survivor Perks. There are far more Survivor Perks which require insane amount of activation for a mediocre effect. Sure, there are Killer Perks which are the same, but their number is lower and usually Killer Perks are simply better for the fact that not all Killers are the same, so a Perk which is bad or mediocre on some Killers can be really good on others.
And well, it is already accounted for that the Killer only has 4 Perks compared to the Survivor Team. The Perks in itself are better. E.g. the Gen Slowdown Perks are stronger than Gen Progression Perks. Perks which grant information (e.g. Aura Read) are stronger than Perks which should hide information. And probably many other examples.
Adding a fifth Perk Slot would just be a massive influence on the overall balance. Way more than previous things, e.g. increasing Gen Repair Time or Hook Stage Timers.

Actually, the OP presented their points about why they think slugging is less bad for survivors than being hooked. So they do have an argument - agree with it or not. Rather than refute the points, you made a sarcastic response that didn’t even make logical sense because slugging survivors does not progress the game for the killer while completing gens quickly (your alleged equivalent scenario) does progress the game for the survivors.
Making up random arguments and mental gymnastics is not really "presenting their points". Or at least it should not count as such. As I said before, those are all mental gymnastics to justify why slugging is still so strong and free.
And honestly, if people start doing this, there is no way that I actually put effort into a response. No amount of arguments can counter mental gymnastics.

so you have no argument got it
You have no argument, you are just doing mental gymnastics to justify how insanely strong and easy slugging is. And the Devs know this, they just did not have the spine to do actual meaningful changes to the game.
And now we are here where Killers claim that slugging is actually good or that Survivors should even be happy that they get slugged by the Killer.
-
Getting genrushed is better for Killer. You will have to deal with less Pallets (for those who still think that Pallet Density is a problem), since you wont have so many chases. You also see less Survivors teabagging.
And since you will get less Hooks, you will have to deal with less of those evil Perks which activate after being unhooked.

I didn't even know he had a lullaby.
Seriously, I used to be a programmer so I get bugs happen and am therefore more forgiving than most players, but even I have my limits of tolerance, and honestly I am done.My biggest issue is always that many Bugs just show a lack of testing. And this makes it either seem intentional or seen as a lack of care.
For example with the Skin, the realization that it was a very quite Lullaby would have come with playing one game with this Skin. If you want to go really, really sure, you would need to play a few more games, but overall the time investment is pretty limited to see if there is an issue.
Another example would be the pole we had for a time in the loading screen. This was no big deal, but again showed signs of not caring, since apparently they did not play a single game to see this pole.
I can completely understand if Bugs dont happen on the machinery the Devs are using. After all, this is why exact descriptions, Logs, pictures and videos are needed, because not every system is the same and it is hard to recreate Bugs. But if something happens 100% of the time on every system and was still not catched before going live, someone did not care or did not test at all.

Nightlight is the most consistent data we can get, and represents the people who are actually committed to the game longterm, with knowledge. And it shows that certain killers, once you know what to do, are a one sided stomp. Just look at Sadako, put her against a team that actually understands her, she’s getting a 1K at best.
Bhvr collects from the general player base, which includes the stereotypical solo queue survivors who will throw games. The game should, probably, be balanced around knowing instead of ignorance.Nightlight is the most consistent data we have access to, but this does not mean that it is actually good data. This is like saying that I am the best Basketball player in my home. Which is true, but does not mean anything.
The Data BHVR gets is way more consistent because they actually have access to the full data. Nightlight does not provide this, nightlight only provides what people want to upload. Saying that BHVR should grab data from nightlight is kind of strange, since apparently you dont understand the difference between BHVRs data (ALL games played) and nightlights data (whatever people decide to upload).
-
Not really. There are two big reasons why modding is being added. First of all, with the rewriting of Code, it actually becomes a possibility to get modding into the game. Without it, it would not be possible.
Second, adding modding to the game means that the game can basically go on forever, even if no new content is added or the amount of new content slows down. Simply because the community can create things. We could even see games developed inside DBD. Similar to for example Cry of Fear, which was a Mod for Half Life 1 and became a Standalone game.
Modding was previously removed because people made stuff with it which they should not be able to do. This will not be the case anymore, modding will probably happen in a separate queue outside of the public matches. Previously modding was either used to create cosmetics or to create competitive advantage. Creating cosmetics is already bad enough for BHVR, since it removes a part of their income. Why buy skins when you can mod brown Cosmetic Pieces to look like the most expensive ones? Could also cause licensing issues, some licenses are strict and they dont want to see their characters looking different.
And when it comes to a competiive advantage, there have been cases of people turning Trappers traps bright pink. Or gave every Survivor neon clothes which were visible from very far away. I have seen even one video where someone was playing Clown with the textures of structures made transparent, so that Survivors could not hide at all. (And obviously, the other way around looping a Killer is way easier if there is always line of sight on them)
Stuff like this will not be possible if modding is confined to a very limited part of the game.

Okay, and nobody can tell me anyone is actually grinding 18k posts in this forum…
Great argument, but I would expect exactly this from someone who makes up BS of grinding for a challenge they know which will not grant much reward. Seriously, you are only complaining for the sake of complaining. If there would be no Community Challenge, you would have played the same amount of games.

Of course I wanted to contribute to the Community Challenge. I also had quite some fun with the new event and the new killer. I haven' touched that game for one and a half years prio to Jason's release, because it felt stale to me. Same old game mode, same old perks, no exciting new characters. So I came back for some fresh air and BPs to level up my characters during the event. Therefore, I exclusively played the event over the past weeks and would have expected a little bit more than 20k bloodpoints.
You cannot be serious that 20k BP were your main motivation for playing. You played because you got tons of BPs from the Cakes. And you probably enjoyed the event gamemode as well.
Nobody can seriously tell me that they actually grinded for a Community Challenge which granted 20k of BPs and was completely irrelevant if it was completed or not.

I have almost contributed 300 games to the challenge. At a certain point, it felt like a grind to me.
Because you wanted to play the event. Not because you wanted to do the Community Challenge. Or did you specifically play to contribute for the Community Challenge? If yes… congratz to 20k BPs I guess.

It's the fact I cannot find a single lobby under p90 and without everyone having finesse, lithe, unbreakable and decisive strike. The survivors in my teams are NEVER this prepared…I wish they were….like this is insane…
Prestige is completely irrelevant for Matchmaking. And it does not really matter if you go against someone with multiple P100s on their Main or on a Survivor they never play and is therefore on a low prestige level.
@cogsturning explained it to you. You have an overall MMR and a specific Killer MMR. If you are overall pretty good on Killer, your overall MMR will also be quite high. However, if you pick a Killer you almost never play, your overall MMR will determine the Matchmaking. Because in the end, you might play a Killer which is unfamiliar for you, but you will not lose your general experience on Killer. So a match will probably be quite rough.
After a while, the MMR on that specific Killer will adjust and be on a lower Level. So you will end up facing weaker opponents as Trapper and stronger opponents on your Main for example.

With this event specifically, I think grinding is the right word since it wasn't counting normal matches.
So what? Then dont play the event mode and dont "grind" for measly 20k BPs and a few Rift Fragments. Seriously, this Community Challenge was completely irrelevant. If anyone really "grinded" for it and played the event mode just for that… I dont really know what to say without getting banned.
-
@tak47888 said:
20k really is a joke, if you consider it took the community a whole 3 weeks of grinding. I hope that we get at least a decent amount for the black banquet coins.

I went against streamer with around 30 people on stream that was abusing doctor on the anniversary mode.
Doctor was bugging people out so that they couldn't do anything for the whole match, no healing, no gens etc.
I asked if he was aware of that bug and he said he was aware and "if devs didn't killswitch the killers this bug will not be bannable".
Later I checked his VOD and he only played doctor and abused that bug.Yeah, but sadly this is also on BHVR. Either they should ban for stuff like this or killswitch it. And often enough it is really people abusing the Bugs instead of just random people running it. But since the latter exist, killswitching is better than banning.
However, the worst kind of people are those who keep their game open so that the killswitch does not affect them. I know that the number of those is small, but those should be banned for a significant amount of time if they play longer than a few hours while not restarting the game.

Yep. And this is regardless of roles, some Perks or skins just increase in usage when there is a Bug which makes them better than supposed to be. See Were-Elk, Streetwise, Wake Up, Merciless Storm and so on. Which is why I am also a fan of using the Killswitch way more.

And this is why suddenly a lot of people use the Were-Elk when it is bugged again, which happened in the past. Because they want to see the unique Mori. Yep.

BHVR releasing another P2W skin, which will then be bought by sweaty people just to fix the Bug in a few weeks after it sold enough. Classic.
At this point you have to assume it is intentional.

Why are you only equating killer anxiety with a fear of losing?
This game could induce anxiety for many different reasons beyond just wanting a 4K. To reduce the discussion to that is really narrow sighted.
I mean, sure, there is toxicity, but outside of Slurs I find it really silly to be annoyed by toxicity. Especially from the role who wants to play a ruthless Killer. Like, you can teabag or hump me all you want, I dont care. Same I dont care if you insult me. After all, the people who are toxic towards someone online are just random people on the internet and it should have no impact at all on someones life.
(Obviously there are factors which can change that, e.g. heavy racial or sexual slurs which might be triggering for some people. Or if someone is already struggling with mental health in a way that they take it more negative if someone is toxic towards them in a videogame, but then I would argue that this person really needs help and maybe should even consider not playing any onlinegames because toxicity is in every onlinegame.)

I'm going to agree with @Aven_Fallen with a little more explanation:
If the game is not just stressful or unpleasant, but actively harming someone's mental health, they should talk to a professional and stop playing.
If the issue is just general stress or the prospect of losing, trying a change in mindset is pretty normal advice.
If the issue is just general burnout, then its time to take a break.
All of the above would not just apply to this game but any type of activity.
All of the above would not just apply to this game but any type of activity.
Exactly. If you dont enjoy something to a point that you get anxiety, it is a big sign to change something. This is not always easy, e.g. quitting a Job you dont enjoy is a hard thing to do.
But taking a break from a game? This is easy compared to many other things.

you cant nessecarily control what makes you feel anxious even if your not taking it seriously. You really shouldnt dismiss peoples anxiety but "just dont do x if you feel that way" as it doesnt actually solve anything other than saying dont do something you like doing.
Oh, I can and I will.
If you are playing like your life depends on your 4K, then you are not really at the point where you do something you like doing. At this point you are taking it too seriously and should reflect that. You are losing in a videogame. This is not a big deal. If you get anxiety from that, you really, really, really need to do something about it. (And it is not on the Devs to do something about it.)
-
If you feel anxiety while playing Killer, you take the game way too seriously and should take a break. Taking the game less seriously and especially learning that you cannot win every time and that there will be some games where you lose badly is key.
Playing the victim card a bit less would also help a lot.

Anime can be horror, horror belongs in DBD. Hatsune Miku I get, but Chainsaw Man is as horror as Saw or Terrifier; it being animated doesn't change that. A more fitting example would be something like the R6 Siege collab or if we were to be very pedantic even Tomb Raider or Witcher that can be seen as scary situations if we were in them but aren't explicitly horror media.
Honestly, the part of "only Horror deserves to be in DBD" died when Nicolas Cage was added. At this point basically everything can end up in DBD.
Does not mean that I want that, but people saying that things are not "horror" enough just has no basis anymore.

that’s just the chance to make it a little harder to survivors…. That’s what it should be not a picnic in the park … -that’s why also the 10second timer before the stamina bar exists…. So you can’t get insta pressured and also be able to use your little speed boost after getting hit by the killer… this way it would be fair to both sides….
At this point I am thinking that you dont want a multiplayer game. Your idea (which is extremely bad) would also mean that tunneling is basically free for the Killer. Just hit the Survivor after Unhook, they are in Deep Wound and 10 seconds later they are so slow that they are downed.
It is 10 years too late to implement a Stamina system into DBD.
-
Fully agreed. What they did with the TWD-Characters was horrible. If the actors dont voice all parts of the characters, they should not have voiced anything at all. The way it is now (voicelines actors, screams/grunts of pain other voice actors) does also not provide any value and just looks really cheap.
I have bought the Daryl-Legendary immediatly and planned to P100 the TWD-characters, but I never play them because of the poor voiceline quality.
-
Given how reassuring AI is, it will defend your build and tell you that you did not lose because of your build and that you are completely right because it must have been something else which made you lose.
Thinking about it, a lot of DBD players seem to use AI.
-
IMO Pinhead is the license I am not really sure about if it will ever return. Unlike Stranger Things and Halloween, the Pinhead-license has always been a bit troublesome in the past.

Yeah, there is not really a reason against it IMO. It makes no difference for Survivor at all and it would be a QoL for Killer (since some people probably have tons of offerings on Killers they dont play or dont play anymore).

Absolutely agree killers have been power crept because the entire game's balance has been an arm's race. Look at the old infamous "hag DBD dev video" her traps took what? an eternity and a half to place? Killer players hated M1 killers and infinites and survivors liked them, BHVR has been in a constant back and forth of giving survivors better perks and baseline abilities and then power creeping killer powers to make up for the stronger survivor toolkit, which leads back to survivor complaints, which leads to BHVR bufffing them, which leads to killers complaining, which leads to killer buffs/power creep. Can you imagine if a Doctor style killer came out today? His shock blast would probably straight up injure survivors somehow and his blast would be significantly better.
Yeah, thats the issue. Aside from Springtrap, every Killer released for quite some time has been a powercrept version of previous Killers. E.g. Dracula is an example, I have no problem with Dracula, but it cannot be denied that he has more going on than other Killers.
I also dont understand some design choices. E.g. why Jason lets the Survivors scream despite them using Perks to avoid screaming or when they are in Lockers. Sure, crouching as counterplay exists, but if I look at Doctor for example, who has a large chunk of his power resolve around screaming, he might get 0 information from Survivors just being in Lockers on his static blast, which also has a lengthy cooldown.
Or Huntress, who is a fine Killer, but is 4,4 m/s and has to spend time reloading, while Jason is 4,6 (only 4,4 on paper) and can reload without spending much time and therefore without losing much distance. (Let alone that Huntress has one of the worst map mobilities while Jason has one of the best)

I'd rather not relive circle of healing or dead hard taking years to balance because BHVR needs to baby walk nerf survivor meta perks back. Getting elusive every single chase at every tile you looped, if you don't play like a bot and run in linear lines 100% of the time, was insanely strong at certain tiles. Yes, bad survivors probably won't make use of it. But do we balance around bad players or good players?
If I look at the current stream of very forgiving Killers… bad players.
-
No, they said any feedback will be used for future iterations of the event.

-
Who would have thought - a Perk which was called "problematic" or "OP" before it even went live is suddenly not even used. We never had this before. Completely new experience that people overestimate a Perk by that margin.
BHVR shouild note down the names of people who always think that a Perk is overtuned to just make sure to NOT listen to those anymore.

Lowering chase music is not accessibility. This is a competitive advantage, because the chase music is designed like that intentionally. If the chase music is too loud, then your game is too loud.

I play on the Asia server.
The top-tier Survivors there are so highly skilled that, when they coordinate via voice chat, they become virtually unstoppable unless the Killer is playing one of the few truly powerful characters.
In particular, there are several Killers who have no effective counter-strategy against groups that include a member dedicated to a support role using "Shadow Step."Those strong Survivors would be way stronger if they would not waste Perk Slots (and time) on pointless Boon-Perks.
-
If you think that Boons are overpowered, that is a You-Problem. Boons are a waste of time for Survivors and there is no need to nerf them even further.

If it means long que times for those killers then it means there is a problem with those killers and maybe bhvr might just actually work on them. They could do lobbies differently when pairing survivors. Yes still longer ques but its that or they could just remove the dc penalty. I do not care if we are having a really good game and someone decides to DC after their first down. There is still a bot and even if there wasn't a bot I still wouldn't care. There are many reasons why people DC and certain killers that take no skill to play and always get 4ks unless its a really good SWF are one of them. It's not a "skill issue" its a killer is too strong issue.
But increasing queuetimes is already the reason why the Devs would never do this. AND even IF they would do it, it would be the lazy solution, since the actual solution would be to work on those Killers.
Plus, you would also have the issue that as Survivor you might not be able to play against certain Killers, because someone in your Lobby has them banned.

lag will never be solved, but if YOUR connection is making YOU lag, i should have nothing to be penalized for
The sad thing is that this will most likely not be possible. BHVR does not want to or cannot provide certain regions with Servers, so there will always be people who have high Ping. And they had to make the decision to either let Survivors get by Hits which would not have landed on their end or Killers not getting Hits which landed on their end. And they decided pro Killer.
Honestly, I think P2P was way better than Dedicated Servers. I dont see any positive which Dedicated Servers have compared to P2P. You can still lagswitch on Dedicated Servers for example, something which was one of the main reasons for those. Instead, we now have the issue with high Ping, because before Dedicated Servers people from e.g. Russia were just playing other Russians and they all had good Ping due to P2P. With Dedicated Servers those Russians need to connect to Frankfurt for example and have high Ping. Yay.
MAYBE they will be able to solve it on a technical basis, but Hit Validation will always be killersided.
-
This would just not work. It would make it impossible for some Killers to get games. E.g. most people would probably put Ghoul and Jason on it, so players playing those two Killers will have very long queue times.
You also have to remember that there are 4 Survivors. If they can each "ban" 2-3 Killers, this would mean a Lobby might not face up to 8-12 Killers.

And I thought that events dont need to be balanced? This is what was said about past Anniversary Events which favoured Killer… But dont worry, since BHVR is aware now they will, in typical BHVR-fashion, do a complete 180 and Survivors are the main ingredient for the next Black Bankquet event.
