I am Rank 2 currently (bloody Depip) and I get Matches in seconds. At least it was like that this afternoon. Will be longer in the evening I guess.
EDIT: Just tested, around 7 PM, Germany, PC, Steam: 3:24 for Survivor (Red) and 23 seconds for Killer (purple).
-
Sure it is a Horrorgame. It is bright as hell and not scary for people who played a lot of it, but it is a Horrorgame.
Like, play something like Amnesia or Outlast 10 times. You will not be scared at all, why someone playing it for the first time will ######### their pants.

odd, no discription I ever read of the DC punishment system spoke of instant punishment on a first offense.
The idea was always (logically) to punish frequent offenders.
You got punished instantly. First time DCing was 60 seconds worth of Time before you were able to search for a game. And it increases with every DC.
(I dont know how much, because I did not test it, I only crashed once during the Test)
-
Exactly, do those Gens and get out. And no Salt in Endgame Chat because thats what they want. If that is done, the Facecamper will have minimal BPs, also no fun because he did not get the reaction he wanted and thats it. Sucks for the guy on the Hook, but his Job is to keep himself on the hook as long as possible to allow his team to do Gens.
Some small German Streamer once facecamped me with Insidious Billy, because apparently I have hurt his feelings before (I dont even know what I did xD), he ended up with a Pudding burned, 1 BBQ Stack and 5k BP, because my team did not give him any more Kills. THATS how it should work.
-
It was only a test, indeed.
Aside from what was already mentioned (people getting punished for crashes), there are still instances in the game where you HAVE to DC.
Bugs for example, someone got stuck into the hooking animation. The only way out of it (and for the game to end) is a DC of either the Killer or the stuck Survivor. I dont want to get punished for a Bug that happened. And I am pretty sure, nobody wants that.
And Bugs happen way too often for such a system to be implemented.
Furthermore, the DC Punishment does not really work as intended anyway. You can still suicide on Hook to ruin other players experience. Or go afk, facing a Corner, when you spawn on a Map you dont like as Killer. And yeah, you can report AFKing, but it will take a while until those Reports are having any impact. And regarding Hook Suicides... You simply cannot punish those at all.

The rest of my post still applies. Which is - by the way - how you deal with camping. Do you always pik at only a portion of a post to reply to or?
Your whole post goes about just going to the clock to wake up...
And I dont think that a design flaw should be something which should change anyones playstyle.
-
You lose when you get a 3K? Interesting.

God what is with so many survivors refusing to learn more of the game than just "i JuSt HoLd M1 On GeNeRaToR, aNd RuN tO sAfE lOoPs HuRr DuRr". When you face Freddy his biggest counter - is waking tf up. He's called the DREAM DEMON for a reason. Literally nothing works in your favor when you are asleep! Don't go for unsafe hooks when you are asleep! Nothing works! You're Asleep! Here let me go ask Dan to make me a sandwhich, he's taking a nap right now. Oh would you look at that, dude didn't even budge. I wonder why. IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE HE IS ASLEEP.
You easily would have countered the face camping Freddy if you just went to your clock, got it, and then went for the unhook. Alternatively, you could just wake up from your clock, and gen rush at that point. What is Freddy going to do to stop you? Nothing. He's face camping.
Kicks trashcan over. Honestly we need to have a ranking system for forums at this point.
Oh yeah, waking up helps a lot - except that once you got hit you are asleep again. So dont try to act smart like "jUsT wAkE uP", when this can easily be undone by just hitting the Survivor. And unsafe BT Rescues usually only result in Hook Trading, because the Killer will get in a Hit before the Unhook.
Nothing wrong with that Mechanic that Freddy puts Survivors to sleep by hitting them btw., but it does not help at all to be awake when Freddy can change it while camping Hooks.

I know what you mean but in the other hand, borrow offers alot of free escapes. I had once for a example a match where I hooked one in the basement, and 2 survivors were rushing into before I could go out and I grabbed them one by one. So 3 survivors in the basement, the 4th just rush in aswell and got lucky that I didnt grab him, all 4 came out of the basement and I got "outplayed" without any counterplay. They ended up genrushing and immersing and 3 escaped.
In this example I didnt wanted to camp or tunnel but they were soo agressevly rushing to the basement before I could even leave the shack and with this braindead plays they STILL succeeded with that. Thats not how the game should work xD. I still agree that borrow itself has a good reason as a perk and I love that perk as survivor. But if a survivor get hooked near to a gate and you are not a stealth killer or freddy, it will be a 100% escape with borrow, the killer cant do anything unless you get a lucky grab and mostly (atleast for me) you will never grab. In that scenarios Borrow is a crutch perk as hell and should not reward bad unhooks like that.
I hope I dont seem that much as a entitled killer main now xDD
The thing is, a camping Killer is a camping Killer. In fact, Stealth Killers at least need to use their ability (not that this is fair either), but Freddy just needs to be there. And it was a buff which was not really necessary, Freddy is already very strong and in a good spot (even tho I hate to go against him, because I dislike his mechanics, but overall I feel his powerlevel is spot-on).
What you describe is the only thing I would consider a problem with Perks like BT or DS. That they work in Endgame. But, there is not really a way of changing that, except those get disabled during EGC. Which can be done by the Killer, but Killers are already complaining about 99ing the Gates instead of just opening them on their own.
But the current interaction with Freddy is more a design flaw than a feature that should be in the game. (In general, I am not happy with all that Oblivious and Undetectable Stuff, even tho it should be consistent... But especially Freddy should not counter BT and should also not be seen by Object of Obsession the whole time, even tho this is a beneficial Trade-Off, since OoO is not as common as BT).
And nah, dont worry. I consider everyone who does not share my opinion as a biased Killer Main :P /s

Like bt needs to be buffed even further "oh lets make it instead if its within a certain range of the killer and screw over stealth killers and make bt even more of a mustpick" im sorry but bt needs some counter it cant be good in every scenario.
I mean, if this Wraith is cloaked or not - he is camping. Same for Ghostface in Stealth or Pig while crouched. And BT should work against camping Killers, soo....

Have you considered that maybe Ruin is just the last straw for some? That it's another in a long line of changes intended to appease one side of the playerbase while completely ignoring what the game is like for the rest? People are just getting tired of being ignored. And I know you'll probably bring up instaheals and BL, so just gonna nip that in he bud.
Instas were a long overdue change that were completely imbalanced. BL was changed because it broke the exhaustion perk formula and allowed the creation of god loops, and even infinite loops. Old BL was as if Sprint Burst made a survivor's running speed always 105%, or if Lithe made every vault a fast vault.
Which long list?
Nurse? Justified.
Spirit? Justified
Legion? Come on... He was bad to begin with.
And Survivor Nerfs? Basically since the Launch of the Game Survivors got nerfed. Justified as well, Survivors were OP.
But now there were 3 Patches with Killer Nerfs and everyone is acting as if Killers get constant Nerfs and forget all those Buffs that happened.
-
@BenZ0 said:
Agree but that makes Freddy kinda unique, you have to watchout to unhook well and not just run braindead with borrow to the save. What I dont like about the current survivor meta, most of the survivors just dont care about planning or thoughts how to unhook, they just run braindead to the save and succeed with that, and that sucks.
Same goes to hag, she will always teleport back after you saved, borrow will not work there too, you have to unhook smart. It is annoying I agree but definatly not op or broken.
I disagree on that one. BT should be a reliable tool against Campers. Sure there are some people that abuse it by hook-rushing, but I dont have that many of them in my teams so far. And I highly doubt that my matches are the odd case and other matches are the normal case.
I know that Killers want some tool to tunnel a Survivor out of the Match ASAP, because this is the best way to win a match. Turn it into a 3v1 early and the dumbest Killer on the Planet can basically win (not to offend anyone here, but the game is not balanced around a 3v1, this is why Moris are so strong).
And sometimes you simply have to do the save, even if the Killer is camping, because then the Survivor at least has a chance. I prefer to get farmed without BT before reaching second stage than just staying on the Hook until I am in Struggle Phase already. And myself, I try to do my Unhooks as safe as possible, but I have BT as a backup plan.
But the way how Freddy works makes it hard to unhook safely, even if the Survivor is awake, because Freddy can put Survivors into Sleep by just hitting them (which is also a mechanic I dont like that much, but it is needed to keep him in the strong spot he currently is). At least they changed BT so that it is not bound to the TR anymore, which makes it at least functional when the Unhooked person actually got BT. Before that it was like old Borrowed Time and there is nothing fun or skillful in just following a Survivor for 15 seconds until he goes down.
(Not that I think that BT needed that Buff, but it is a nice side effect. Personally I would like to have BT work like it does right now, but not with Deep Wounds so that changes can actually made to Deep Wound without buffing BT, but that is a different topic)
Regarding Hag, at least you can have some form of Counter by crouching (except for Mint Rag, obviously).
-
Regarding Devs are Survivor Biased:
With all those Survivor Nerfs that happened, it is quite clear that they are not Survivor Biased. Not gonna say that they were not justified (except Balanced Landing, but I am biased at this point :P ), but it is stupid to call the Devs Survivor Biased.
I listened to the Podcast of OhTofu, ScottJund, Otzdarva and Usyllis yesterday, and they said (more as a Joke) that for Aprils Fools Day, the Devs should implement Patch 1.0 for one week. And then I want to see people complaining about the current state of the game.
(The Podcast is btw. something that can be listened to, because there is a good balance between them.)
-
If you are asleep, you are affected by the Oblivious Status Effect. This means that Perks related to the Killers Terror Radius are not working as intended, this includes Borrowed Time.
Yes, it is dumb that Freddy can bypass BT with that Mechanic.

You could buy the 2019 blight cosmetics before the event started. The currency to buy them was achievable in the rift and this is how all events are supposed to work in the future. No alternative objectives anymore. Let's see if it gets activated today or if they completely refuse to do any more effort for events
Yes, but at this point it was announced before that you can get them via Playtime as well. So if you want to have them early, you could have bought them, but you knew that you can also wait and get them for the Serum.
This was not done this time, so I doubt that they will be obtainable via Playtime.

They did that with the blight and last years lunar event.
But at those events it was announced before that you can play for them. So you can buy them if you cannot wait (which was the point of releasing them early), but you were also fully aware that you can earn (some of) them for free.
-
@Cabbage said:

It should honestly be like the lunar event from the past where they gave you coins, which if you got enough you would get 2 special cosmetic rewards. Rather than just being for a nice cosmetic touch. Or even if it gave you 1 additional rift fragment.
It would have been cool to get Coins, however, the only Lunar Event Cosmetics so far are the two released yesterday (Legion and Jeff) and the ones you will get for logging in later (Nea, Dwight and Billy).
So I doubt that there will be any coins, because it would not be cool at all to let people pay for the Legion- or Jeff-Skin now and gave them away "for free" afterwards.
I would have expected a Offering for more BPs, but sadly it is only Cosmetics and Firecrackers for Survivors.
-
Yeah, it would make sense if the Items would be visible while on the ground or on the Hook.
-
I just checked.
(Der Kopf vom Zwangsjacken-Skin ist Auto-Lobotomizer und Foul Bile ist der Hallowed Blight Skin)
Nobody who speaks German can be an evil man.
And yeah, it is a Buff. I played Doctor before a lot, because I wanted to prestige him before the Tome, and I can compare it quite well, while not being the best Doctor, he feels a lot better now.
-
This is under known issues:
- Frame rate issues occur when combining The Doctor's Foul Bile and Auto-Lobotomy cosmetics.
Are you using one of those Cosmetics? (A User in the Bug Report used only the Auto-Lobotomy Cosmetic and it was causing the FPS-Issues, and it was fixed after changing to a different Head)
To the rest of the Post: I agree. I cannot understand how people can call the new Doctor a Nerf.
-
My games went completely normal, in fact, even better than before the Patch. As Killer, Instant Lobbies (even tho, this was not in the evening, it was before). Survivor Queue Times in the evening were a little bit faster than before. Had more NOEDs, but also many Doctors who used NOED, so I think it is more because the people were playing Doctor and not because they want to "punish" Survivors.
Only had one DCing Killer, a Ghostface who DCed after two Gens were done. Because, you know, it is impossible to win the game after this point.
BUT I had way more Red Rank Killers than before and a few purples, instead of quite a lot of Green Killers.
-
Because the Halloween-Skins were purchaseable in the first place. The Cosmetics you are talking about (Howling Grounds and Summer BBQ) were tied to the event and not purchaseable in the Ingame-Store.
Sure it would be cool to get them, because honestly, getting Event Rewards was never hard and only because someone was not playing at this time should not exclude them, but it is how it is. There was a chance that everyone would got them, but this got denied, because the reason, why everyone would get them, was not present anymore (that it would take too much time to restore them to the original owners one by one).
(I would also loved to get the Huntress Mask and the Billy-Hammer, but well.... :/ unlucky)
-
Which Rank? Could be a coincidence, I had normal games today.

That’s actually good. It gives survivors more chance to actually have the wiggle bar for a reason other than points. Not saying that killer nerfs are good, but it’ll make the flow of the game slightly better... minus the death of old ruin
To be fair, you are not supposed to wiggle off, wiggling only exists so that the Killer cannot carry a Survivor to the Basement all the time. From what I have seen (only two games on Lerys as Killer so far on Live), people will still have no chance of wiggling off the Killers Shoulder.

There are still more than enough Hooks on new Lerys to carry a Survivor to one of them without any problems (except you used all of them in a certain area, but this goes for all Maps).

Funny thing:
Exactly this question is the reason why it is removed - nobody knows what it is, because nobody used it.
-
Aside from already mentioned: Hatch spawned, EGC did not start, only one Survivor left, I would also consider the following situations as "Holding the game hostage":
1st:
Blocking a Survivor into a Corner until EGC kills them. Yes, the game can end. However, it is at least griefing to do that and I think the only solution should not be that you have to wait for your teammates to do all the Gens so that you can finally die. This can also take a long time, because they might not be on the Gen the whole time, but wandering around, looting Chests, cleansing Totems to get at least some Points and maybe just looking what is going on. If it is not holding the game hostage, it is at least griefing.
2nd:
3 genning a Team without any effort to advance the gamestate. So only removing them from the Gens without any intention to leave that area or to go for a chase to win. Yes, the Killer is protecting the Gens, but if he does not do any effort to get a Hook and just chases the Survivors away, there is no way for the game to end.

But you just said there are only 4 good perks for survivors, this now sounds different, like there is just DS mandatory and the rest is free to choose from. I think there are pretty many good perks. Currently I run Detectives Hunch + Inner Strength a lot, on Stranger Things release I played a lot Better Together + Prove Thyself, with indoor map offerings I liked to play Lithe + Quick n Quiet + Dance with me, or replace Lithe with Head On for every other map, item builds, rabbit build with Premonition + Lightweight... there is quite a list that is really not bad. You just can argue "there is better"
And regarding the killer perks, you can see it in two ways. Like half of the perks don't really support the killer's playstyle and so don't make any sense to select. For example blood echo is really good for Legion and Oni, but hard to make any value on other killers.
First paragraph:
"like 4 Perks", you can see that as an exaggeration. But in reality, it is not that much more. Because for every new Perk, there is already a better Perk. And they even limited it recently because of the BL-Nerf. I mean, I play usually with my Perk Build which is DS, BT, DH and Iron Will. However, when I level up a character, I dont have all of them, so I grab what I have. Sure, many Perks are on an "Ok"-Level, but there is not really a reason to pick those if they get outclassed by others. Like, why should I use Lithe, when I can go for Dead Hard instead. Or why should I ever consider using Babysitter, when BT is way better. Or why should I use Lucky Break, when Iron Will is also a stealth-Perk, but not time-limited? Or why should I think about using Aftercare, when I can take Bond? I guess you can make that for every Perk for Survivors and end up on the Basegame + Free DLCs + Halloween-DLC. And I dont think that this is ok, but BHVR is afraid of getting really good Perks into the game (for both sides). I wish they would bring something which is more like "bring a new Survivor to Level 40 and then teach the Perks to every other Survivor, but never use them" (as always: MoM is the exception, but it was a Cashgrab).
On other hands, Killers (and coming to the second paragraph):
The way I see it is that Killers usually get a quite useful Perk, a Niche Perk and a garbage Perk. Like Spirit with Spirit Fury (useful), Haunted Grounds (niche) and Rancor (even tho it is not entirely garbage, but there is not really a reason to use Rancor)... Or Legion: Discordance (useful), Iron Maiden (Niche), Mad Grit (garbage)... You can at least get something out of most Perks, and even if it is only useful for specific Killers. Sure, Blood echo is only useful for some Killers, but it is an Option, because Killers have a different playstyle. And therefore, you have more variety in the Killers side, because some Perks are really good on specific Killers, but outright Garbage on other Killers. Of course, when you see it the other way around, one specific Killer is also limited to a set of Perks and others are not really useful on them.

What you like to do, you like to do.
I for my part avoid to take perks like noed as example. I don't denie that noed is a strong perk... But...
I don't like to play with it for 3 weeks as example and ending up too need it, to win a match.
There I perfer to stay independend from such perks.
I also have the same mindset in the rar cases where I play as survivor. To win a match only because of a strong perk would feel to cheap for me.
Edit: But that is just my opinion.
Thing is, as Survivor I dont want to escape. I want to have a fun game. If I escape vs. some Baby Killer, I dont have fun, and if I die to a really good Killer, I still had fun. And fun means for me, that I am in the game as long as possible, which means, I dont want to get tunneled to death. I dont need to escape, thats secondary for me.
As Killer, I want a fun game, but also I dont use Perks like Ruin or NOED. I hate NOED and for Ruin, I felt stressed when it was gone. So I stopped using it and feel better when playing the game. This is more of a psychology-aspect, others feel pressured when playing without Ruin, I feel less pressured, because I dont have to care for a Token or be like "#########, I am playing with 3 Perks now", when its gone.
So yeah, different opinions I guess.

That we could also easily say about killers and it is wrong in both cases.
Perks like ruin are not necessary for a killer to do his job and so are second changes perks not necessary for a survivor to do his part.
You forget here 2 very important things:
1- If you always play with op perks, you start to relay on them and that is always bad, because it weakens you as a player over time.
2- As survivor it is not necessary for you to survive a game. You only need to do your part in a match and even if you die, you still getting a good amount of bps, emblems and so on. Killers play in their matches alone, but you as survivor not.
Both killers and survivors have a high variety of perks to their selection and the most them are ok.
The only things survivors and killers need is a good basekit. That they moving fast enough for their role in the matches and so on and that is imo ok by the survivors and some killers. Surley not by every killer.
The Thing is, Killers got quite decent Perks with nearly every Patch (I would exclude Stranger Things here, all of Demogorgons Perks are garbage). Also, Killers have more variety in their Perks, because they have different playstyles. You will never find the same Perks every game on the Killer Side, because you dont go against the same Killers all the time. You get an M1-Killer who has Perks like Enduring, Brutal Strength and whatever, next game is a Spirit who will not use any of those Perks.
The only Perk I really need is DS, because Killers are tunneling. Because this is the best way to win a game, elimininate one person early and you have it easy. And after playing a whole evening without DS and getting tunneled in most of the games (because no DS after first Unhook usually means, no DS at all), I dont play any character without DS.
And the rest... Well, its there, why not use it? I stopped caring that much about Killers, because they dont care that much about Survivors either.

I've saved the remainder of my challenges from my previous tome, so I can layer in the extra challenges to get more than 40 tiers completed in the next rift.
You only get the Rift Fragments for the Rift which is connected to the Tome. So all Challenges from Tome 1 only applied to the first Rift. You can get the BPs and the Lore, but no Rift Fragments after the Rift closed.
-
It goes both ways. Sometimes you even see a blood explosion on the Survivor, and it does not hit. And sometimes you have a blood explosion in the air next to them and nice AoE-Damage.
So yeah, this Dedicated Servers "Test" (when does this "test" end btw?) was not really beneficial to Huntress for both sides.
-
If Survivors would have more like 4 good Perks, you would see more variety. But almost every Survivor Perk is ######### and the last time Survivors got a Metaperk (except MoM) was Dead Hard.

Out of curiosity, did you make any changes to the Rift? 😊
Most players felt the Rift didn't meet the developer's standard of 70 hours for completion, or the average player's daily playtime, which is a hour daily.
It's okay Peanits if you don't have anything planned, but transparency, even when you don't have anything to share, is always appreciated when applicable. 😁
If I am not mistaken (and I am pretty sure this was not confirmed by the Dev), there are more Challenges. Which means, there will be more Rift Fragments earned via Challenges.
-
There will be quite a lot of Calm Spirits when new Doctor is released. A rare occasion where it will be useful.
-
Without EGC Survivors would have had infinite time. So, EGC is better for Killers I guess? Because even if slowed down, a Time Limit is better than no time limit.
Besides that, opening a Thread for such a negative topic...bah.
-
Ghostface is BS on both Sides. You sometimes cannot break him out or break him out without seeing him. Just wait for BHVR to fix him, he is basically not ready to release - despite released for a long time already...
But yeah, have to agree, it is bullshit to call it "Stalking" when he just walks behind you, completely visible.
Maybe they should change it that you reveal him by pointing at him.
