The issue is that I don't think anyone is good enough to deal with them.

For context, I've lost 30 matches this year. 19 of those were today. I should hope that out of the thousands of matches I've played in 2021, that at least a few of those teams were good. And if they were, I hope that means I am also good.

But this is just demoralizing. They are going to have huge queues and I'm going to keep getting hard capped at this level where I get routinely stomped and taunted.

And no, Blight really isn't fun. I don't want to play Spirit, but I think I'm going to have to.

I mean, only losing 11 games in over half a year (assuming you are playing on a regular basis) shows that you versed Survivors who are not your skill level before. Quite similar to Dowsey with Twins IMO, both of you faced Survivors who are not good enough (and the average Survivor is not good), so your Ratings increased, because you never met Teams who were strong enough (or only 11 times in your case).

Now you have a Rating which is too high for average Players, so you only play against really good players. (Simliar to Dowsey, even tho, he had a competitive team to snipe him to lower his Rating)

So with SBMM, this means you have to endure some stomping until you are at a Level where you actually should be with Blight (or probably lower, if you get stomped really hard), before you face Players who are actually your Skill Level, which will probably be above average, but not over the top like currently.

And yes, this is a big flaw of the Matchmaking Rating and I really dont know why the Devs try to bruteforce it. There will be many Killers who will experience the same, they have a Killer which they like (which is not Nurse or Spirit), so they have experience with that Killer, win a lot of games and if SBMM drops, they rating is super-high and they only verse very high skilled SWFs.

IMO after this test, the only thing about SBMM I want to read is "it is not working as intended, we are scrapping it", but it wont happen. My games are somewhat normal with most of the Killers, but I had to sweat a lot in my Billy game yesterday and barely got a 1K (which indicates that I am too high on my Billy-Rating), but I got only Baby Survivors as Nurse (for a few games, the last game was more challenging). But this is also not right, only because I lose against average Survivors with Nurse, I should not face Baby Survivors for a few games, this is unfair for them.

Yep that’s exactly what the devs have said a few months ago. And this time it actually started with a calculated score. I think the last Testphase had everyone start at 0 with every killer/role

Ok. So most likely OP has a high Rating which is also used for Twins, until their rating is calculated.

  • Well, I guess you had bad Survivors before on a constant basis and got boosted to a high MMR with Blight. Now you get Survivors who are on your MMR-Level, but you are not good enough for them, so you get stomped until your Rating is low enough.

I guess this will happen to a majority of Killers, especially if they are kinda limited, like I cannot really imagine Blight on Console being an enjoyable experience.

Funny thing though, every killer has his own rating. If you play a killer you are new to, you are in the lower skill ranks with it.

So either your perception is tainted, or matchmaking doesn´t work as intended.

Shouldnt you start with a rating similar to your other Killers when trying out a new Killer? And it gets adjusted after a few games?

Because otherwise, everyone would start at 0 when a new Killer releases, which would mix highly experienced players with absolute Newcomer-Survivors.

  • Got it first try with a 4K.

Once you have done that challenge (it is quite easy to get), you can play normally.

I obviously can't speak for every killer but for myself and most other killers, I think that video perfectly shows what our problem with this is...

If I didn't get the hit, that's fair. I am accepting that. If it's close and the game edges it out slightly to the survivor, so be it I suppose.

What is irking me though is that the game ACTS like I hit the survivor (the survivor screams and you can clearly hear the "I hit you" squishy noise). Killer is stressful enough at times against good survivors and now I can't trust my eyes and ears as the game flips a coin to determine who has the "right" view.

But why even bother at this point? It was not meant to hit and you know that this was not meant to hit. So why bother when you get the information that it hit?

It happened to me like 5 times since it went live, and most of the time I am like "eh, whatever": I am not upset, because I know that this should not have hit in the first place.

But they should do something that it does not look like it hit on the Killers side, so no screams or Blood. But this is the only thing that needs changing, but I am actually wondering why players who know what this means still get upset and think they get "robbed".

  • It will be the Riddler. But not the one from Batman, the one from Drawn Together.

  • They will not do that. It would take a huge amount of time to rewrite the entire Code, which means there would be no more new Content for at least a year (I would guess, most likely more), because everything needs to be reworked before new stuff can be added. MAYBE Cosmetics would be possible, but even those might not be possible.

And if that is the case, BHVR would have no income for at least a year while probably losing players because of the lack of new content.

Does not really sound like a good plan for them.

I see i really hit a nerve with that twins comment. Everyone suddenly storms in and claims that the Twins are strong.

    *rolles eyes*

Yeah, sure they are strong. I can´t remember a single match that i died against Twins.

This is not something that comes up now, it is generally accepted that Twins are a strong Killer. They are not really fun to go against and for some players also not fun to play, but this is different from being strong or weak.

But I am well aware who I am talking too, obviously you will never accept that strong Killers are indeed strong since it is completely against your narrative.

Honestly the only thing i would change about this combo is the aura reading part from Undying. It's a bit unecessary IMO. Especially now that killer just got the Lethal Pursuer perk ^^

Undying needs the Aura read for two reasons:

    • to have something which justifies three Perk Tiers (the distance goes up by 1m each Tier)
    • and more important: To have the Perk do something on its own. If it would only replace a broken Hex-Totem, it would not be useful without any other Hexes
  • I can get your idea, but a straight up Nerf to Tinkerer would be a better and easier Move.

I mean, the obvious Combo is Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer, which is a very easy to use Build while Tinkerer giving information a la "Just go there for free Regression" as long as Ruin is up. And IMO in this combination, Tinkerer is the biggest problem (even before the Undying-Nerf).

However, I cannot think of any other combinations where a Perk might have to be disabled to not become oppressive and if there are some, it would be a very strange system and confusing. A straight up Nerf would be easier to understand.

Like, it would be really complicated for new Killer players as well. Sometimes your Perk suddenly stops working and you dont really know why.

4 Knives is a little bit too much, even a very biased person should see that.

If you don't block one of the windows survivors can probably do 2 or 3 loops with the double window loop open now, so bamboozle it's needed.

The door right next to the Window makes this Window useless. It is like 2cm next to the Window.

You wont be able to do multiple rounds around both windows when the Wall in this room is broken.

  • @Irisora said:

Wow I guess it's bamboozle time.. A minute of silence for the fellow killers that don't have that perk yet.

Or they just break the Wall right next to the Window and dont need Bamboozle...

But I already know that breaking breakable Walls is something which seems impossible for most Killers.

It stops salty people from killing themselves early. It's beautiful.

Not at all. Someone who does not want to play anymore will not start to play the game normally if they get unhooked.

At best, they go afk, at worst, they sandbag their teammates.

Only the Killer really benefits from Survivors not being able to suicide immediatly, because it is easier for them to get to the Hatch.

Exactly my issue! Here am I standing in front of my PC for 1 hour and a half with files yet to be downloaded, while with any other 40GB+ game I would have already had it installed.

Exactly. This is why I update DBD basically immediatly when the Update dropped or I am home. Every other game I would probably update shortly before playing, but I cannot afford that with DBD.

I have read somewhere that you should have DBD on an SSD and 100 GB free at least on that, and this should help, but I really dont know if that really helps (and I cannot really imagine why that should help in the first place).

  • I rarely install games on my Steam, because I dont play many Games. However, every DBD-Update takes way longer than needed.

I dont know how big this Patch was today, but it took me a few seconds to download it and then around 30 minutes to install it. It was 100% downloaded, but the updating of the game took a little bit over 30 minutes.

The last two games I downloaded were 18GB and 36GB and if I remember correctly, both were faster done or at least not much longer (in regards to the 36GB-game).

And those two were installed on my HDD while DBD is on my SSD.

It is actually pretty easy to aquire tokens as blight, start a chase, back up, lose chase, then rush back into the chase, almost as clean as wraith doing it

Thats actually true, with the change you have to go through less stuff to get a token. No looking away, looking on the ground or anything, just leaving Chase and getting back into it with a Rush afterwards.

Still, I dont think we will see many Blights with that Perk, but might be possible.

  • Tomorrow. Now it should be counting down hours, since they will most likely be open at around this time.

  • I think Known Issues only covers new issues which come with this Update. Older issues which were not fixed yet are not listed there.

  • I dont think that anyone wants to go through the pain to acquire Tokens, just to make a already strong Killer stronger during Chases.

PWYF was useful on Bubba, because he was quite weak and his Instadown justified to get those PWYF-Tokens, however, with Blight, you dont need the extra Movement Speed most of the time to down people.

It would be useful for Loops where you cannot really use your power, because those become laughable with 1 or more PWYF-Tokens, but is that really worth running this Perk and potentially Nemesis?

  • @Huge_Bush said:

No! Make them brown so people can have more incentive to play. Make them even more common on killer blood webs so more people can be tempted to play killer at night.

IMO Bloody Party Streamers (and Event Cakes) should give 200% BPs for those burning it. This would be a huge incentive to actually use them outside of Double BP-Events.

It just feels quite strange that you can burn one of those and the person who burns a Cake/Pudding will get way more BPs than you. Which is probably one of the reasons why players hold back on them.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/271812/should-bloody-party-streamer-be-a-very-rare-offering

No. If anything. Anniversary cakes should of remained. BPS should be common. Much like any other game that gets older and adds more and more to it. The grind becomes too much and unrealistic. BHVR needs to do SOMETHING to offset the crazy grind now adays. Everyone burning cakes for 500 % BP during the event was a taste of how much we SHOULD be getting nowadays. 60k for killer, and 20-40 k for survivor just isn't enough anymore

    ^ this.

After the Anniversary and the Bloodhunt, it is just obvious how pathetic the BP-Gain is. As Killer with BBQ, you can make 1 Bloodweb per Game (if you have a decent game), as Survivor, it is way less. And you have to do Hundreds of Bloodwebs to complete one Character.

  • Do you hate DBD-players or why do you want to make the grind even harder?

Maybe not with the change to Bloody Party Streamers, but pushing Escape Cakes and Survivor Puddings to green Rarity would make them so rare in the Bloodwebs...

  • Only if you REALLY need a Medkit. Other than that, you should spend all the time on Gens, when you are not being chased or going for an Unhook.

Searching Chests is a waste of time since the Toolbox-Nerf, because you cannot really get good stuff out of it, unless you are really lucky and get a Key. Like, no Toolbox is worth it, because even with a Commodious Toolbox, you cannot compensate the time you wasted for searching the Chest.

So, unless you bring Perks or are really looking for a Medkit or Key (so you hope you are lucky), Chests are a waste of time.

  • I am twisted on the Silent Bell, because it is an Iridescent Add On, after all. And the other one is not that good.

However, the purple All Seeing is too much and should be nerfed. Before they buffed his Speed, you were basically forced to play Windstorm. So you could use Windstorm + All Seeing and dont have a Silent Bell. OR you can go for Silent Bell + Windstorm, but dont have All Seeing.

OR you can go for Silent Bell and All Seeing, but you have a slow Wraith.

Now with basically purple Windstorm Basekit, it is like (old) Wraith has 3 Add On-Slots. And this is too much.

  • While I agree that SBMM should not be a thing, I think you have something wrong in your thought process.

The Survivors dont get a rating specific to Killers. So, you wont have Surivors who escape often against Wraith, but die often against Plague or vice-versa. The Survivors have a Rating, which is not affected by the Killer they are facing.

Otherwise there would be problems, e.g. good Wraith or Ghostface-players would go against multiple Spine Chills all the time, because those Survivors have a good Rating against Stealth Killers or good Spirits would always go against Iron Will-players, because those have a higher chance to escape a Spirit, etc.

  • Yeah, Autodidact needs some kind of buff, but I dont think that a flat-out increase in Skill Checks is the correct way. Because Autodidact is really strong with 5 Tokens, especially since it basically ignores Slowdown-Perks like Sloppy Butcher (or anything else which applies Mangled). However, there is nothing more frustrating than running Autodidact and not getting any Skill Checks at all or maybe one, which is just a big penalty.

Maybe, the Skill Checks can be more dynamic - while getting Tokens, the Skill Check Odds are increased a lot and decrease until they reach 5 Tokens. Lets say, 200% chance of a Skill Check with 0 Tokens, 150% with 1 Token, 100% with 2 Token, 50% with 3 Token and 25% with 4 Token. Once 5 Tokens are reached, the Skill Check Odds return to normal (so 100%).

This would mean that the first Skill Checks are really easy to get and the later Skill Checks which make the Perk really strong are harder to get.

This is just a rough idea without much thought and I just threw together some numbers.

  • The Skill Checks are nice and I see them being used with other Interactions (like Overcharge).

However, I dislike Glyph-Challenges, they are boring and basically "Play X games" where "X" means "number of games until you find your Glyphs". So while the Skill Checks are cool, they dont make me hate Glyph-Challenges less.

  • It was said from the beginning that those will be in the Shop eventually.

Also, they cannot really be compared to Legacy, the grind to get a Character prestiged back then was higher than the grind to complete a Rift - especially since it got way easier a few months ago. And there is not really any reason why players should be excluded from Rift Cosmetics, just because they started at a later point. It is not like those Cosmetics are anything special (when it comes to rarity).

And, last but not least, if you grind the Rift you get them way cheaper compared to someone who buys them. If you want multiple Outfits of a Rift, you get them for 10 Euros - or for free, if you use the Auric Cells you got back on a future Rift.

I know that the double pip was not always necessary. This definitely got added at some point.

This is correct. I know that my first Adepts (Bubba and Trapper) were 4Ks, but I am pretty sure it were no Double Pip.

  • Yes, Adept Killer is too hard, especially if we consider how wonky the Emblem System can be. Like, nobody heals and you end up with a worse Emblem, because less Health States to be removed. Yay.

IMO Killer Adepts should be 4 Sacrifices. Or 4 Kills, with nerfed Moris, before 4 Sacrifices was important because Killers should not be able to get it super-easy by burning a (old) Mori.

However, I think they cannot really change the Adepts, because Consoles are pretty sensitive on this topic - as long as the Achievement can be fulfilled, they dont see a reason why it should be changed.

(If MMR goes live at some point, Ranks will not be used for Matchmaking anymore so you will get reset back to Rank 20, which would make Adepts easier...But thats about it)

If the killer isn't supposed to care about getting a 4k, the game shouldn't reward the killer a Bloodpoint bonus for no escapes. If the devs don't want people to play a certain way, they shouldn't reward points for it. Like, if they don't want two or three survivors to go immersed instead of working on gens, the hatch shouldn't award bonus Bloodpoints.

I did not say that the Killer should not care about the 4K. Why do you try to twist my words? I said that I (which means: only I, myself, my own opinion) dont care for the 4K. I rather get the 3K, the Survivor might be lucky to get Hatch and I still won the game. If others want to sweat for the 4K and slug and waste everybodys time, they should do it, but not expect anyone to like it.

And well, my fix for Hatch (which I proposed long ago when actual Hatch Stand Offs would have still been a thing) would have been to count a 3K with Hatch Escape as a 4K for the Killer, both in Emblems and Points. In theory, there would be no need for the Killer to slug or go for the Hatch Standoff at this point, since they got their points and Emblems like if they killed the 4th Survivor.

However, after reading this Thread, I am quite sure that people would still have slugged and do Hatch Standoffs, just because they want that 4K, completely irrelevant of the points.

But eh, I get it, Killers good, Survivors bad. Only Survivors can be entitled.

  • @Power_Guy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2413292#Comment_2413292

No, it's part of the game. That's like going into an FPS and saying 'It's really entitled you want to score that 50th point. You already won at 49 points; just let the clock run out.'

The sheer entitlement of Survivors 'You got 3 kills; going for 4 is entitled! 🤪' Rofl. So many BS rules and expectations Survivor mains heap on Killers. Don't camp. Don't slug. Don't tunnel. Be happy with a 3K. Always let the 4th Survivor go.

This is the only game I've ever played where one side has literally invented an entire playbook they expect their opponents to follow, and then demand the devs alter the game to enforce it.

I did not say any of this. But nice strawman.

I just said that it is entitled to waste someone elses time because you think that only a 4K matters. When I play Killer, I could not care less if the last Survivor gets a lucky Hatch escape.

  • @Power_Guy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2413201#Comment_2413201

So what? There's 4 Survivors to kill. Saying 'You got your 3 kills!' means absolutely nothing.

Worse; it's entitlement. You're saying the Killer is being selfish going for a 4K when there's 4 people to kill, as if one deserves to get away.

Also pretty entitled to have the audacity to waste at least one persons time because someone thinks a 3K with Hatch escape is not already quite a clear win.

  • For me, it is the same as stretched resolution. You make the game look in a way it is not supposed to look.

However, since I dont know that someone is using it, except when they stream their game (the same as stretched resolution), I dont care at all.

  • DCing gets penalized. The Penalty is shared for all Survivors if they are in an SWF (which is the most likely reason why someone DCs to give someone else Hatch). The DCing person also loses all their BPs.

With that, they will not do it often. And honestly, for me it is such a non-issue. It happens so rarely. Yes, in an ideal world it would be fixed, however, the Devs have far more urgent things to do so this can be a low priority.

This happens because the Doctor does not have any Terror Radius (probably Tinkerer). If he uses his Blast at this point, it will do nothing.

  • Let me get this right - you knew that she has DS, you open the Locker, fully expecting that she will stun you with her DS and after you get stunned, you complain that she had DS?

  • Or, maybe accept that there is a Map in the game which you dont like? I mean, you end up on it rarely enough, if you play on it and you dont like it, suck it up.

It is not like your day is ruined or that the Devs ate your pets, they just created a Map you dont like.

  • Yes. Even tho most chicken out and dodge.

However, Names and Profiles should be hidden. There is no reason gameplay-wise to show them.

  • Then dont buy it?

I swear, the Forum is an endless cycle of Complaints. Every time a new Rift starts, people say there is nothing for them in the Pass. Every time a new Tome Level is released, Players complain that some Challenges are "impossible".

If a new Killer is released, this new Killer is too strong AND too weak at the same time. If a Map Rework happens, they complain about Breakable Walls, because they "bring back Infinites".

    Like, always the same, lol.

  • Either Plague or Hag. But overall, I would guess, Hag, because it can be weeks before I see a single Hag, which follows by a few weeks without a Hag (I am not sad about that).

However, there are rare occasians where I face multiple Plagues during one day, before not seeing her for quite some time.

And well, for both understandable, in my opinion both are not really exciting to play and seems like I am not the only one thinking that.

Most SWFs are not good at the game. And if you would ban SWF, you would just kill the game instantly.

  • If you really think it is completely impossible to win against SWFs, you are probably not good at playing Killer.

I am a mediocre Killer at best and even I manage to 4K 4 man SWFs, because most SWFs are just casual groups. Unless you want to claim you go against tournament SWFs all the time, but this would be a pretty obvious lie.
