No ofc not I love playing demo and would probably uninstall. I'm just whining because I feel bad for future players who won't get them but I don't have any alternative suggestions to offer, no.

I mean, obviously it sucks for newer players. But, not having a license is something which makes that happen. Not really anything you can do about that, if the License Holders dont want to renew the license, it is over.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I'm worried this is the beginning of a bad trend. I get the feeling older licenses like Halloween and Saw will be okay, but this worries me about Resident Evil, Silent Hill and potential similar licenses in the future.

Yeah you can argue if you buy it you keep it so just buy it before it leaves.. but it's not the same. Does this mean they can't balance Demo or ST perks anymore? Can the characters not be used in official tournaments? Will Fog Whisperers be able to play as them? Can they still receive potential future graphical updates?

"Does this mean they can't balance Demo or ST perks anymore?"

From what I know, the Devs have full control on the balancing. I am not sure if this will be the same when the license is gone, but as long as they have a license, they can balance all they like. I guess, the only thing should be that it somewhat resembles the Character (e.g. Myers pulling people into a Dreamworld would be not ok).

But I would suspect that they can make changes to the Characters.

It's weird because there's not supposed to be any more "exclusives" anymore...but only people who started playing the game before a certain date having access to a whole killer + power + two survivors + their perk icons AND their associated cosmetics is much worse than access to some crappy default Feng recolour being restricted.

What would be the alternative? To remove the content from every players existing account? This would be even worse.

  • Nurse is not worth learning. You can play Spirit and have a Killer who is almost as strong as Nurse, but with far less time invested to learn.

  • There are exactly 0 information so far, except that it has something to do with Totems. We dont know if they will just spawn (like Hex-Perks) or if Survivors have to find Dull or Hex-Totems to convert them into Boon Totems. We also dont know any of those Perks.

It is impossible to give any opinion on those Boon-Perks currently.

  • 6377 hours, 168 Achievements. I am missing:

    Skilled Huntress

Killer Adepts: Spirit, Plague, Ghostface, Oni, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, Blight, Twins, Trickster, Nemesis

But this is not really representative, since I refuse to do Adepts with the current System. I only did some Adepts recently, when Rank Reset was bugged and I got set back to green Ranks, so I went for Adepts in Order until Spirit and stopped there.

So there will be players who have far less hours but more Achievements than me.

  • In another Thread someone wrote that the Power Meter is related to a Bug regarding the Tutorial.

  • Yeah, looks alright. You have to keep in mind that your Survivor Hitbox is a little bit larger than the actual model and also his Shred has a bigger Hitbox than his actual body.

Both added up result in this Hit. And it does not look that weird IMO, it even looks fine to me.

Ranks will only be reset to 20 each month when MMR arrives which means that adepts are going to be significantly harder with a killer you already played a ton.

There will be no difference in the skill level of survivor based on reset when that happens

The problem is more the artificial increase in difficulty because of the Emblems. Like, I had an Oni-Daily lately, so I decided to try to get my Adept. What did I get? 3 Iridescent and 1 Gold, because the Chaser Emblem was only gold, because I got punished for using my Power 4 times on healthy Survivors (and near the end they did not heal, so I was not able to remove that many Health States either).

Outside of Red Ranks I would have gotten my Adept. So I gladly take on the same Survivors when the Emblem System does not require me to have 4 Iridescents.

And it’s worst then a Nurse, Oni, Blight or any good snowball killer with Infectious?

That it is also strong on Killers like Oni and Nurse does not make it less strong on Billy.

In general, Infectious Fright is a problematic Perk IMO, almost useless on most Killers and oppressive on a select few (most likely those who are already really strong).

They did say though "hes in mostly a spot they are comfortable with" and the better player normally comes out on top "and they are pretty happy with how he performs so the changes are slight" the overheat and addon murders isnt slight at all.

Yeah, this is the one sentence everyone uses when they try to defend old Billy. The Nerf was deserved, a Killer with such a mobility and an easy to use Instadown which also was quite forgiveable became too much over the years.

The only thing I wish they would change is the FOV, this is ######### up since they decided to change his animations at some point. It gets better with Shadowborn, but eh.

  • Combination of bad luck and the fact that 3 Maps are disabled. But mostly bad luck, happens.

    ????????

survivors and killers said he was balanced

even BHVR said he was the most balanced killer.

BHVR did not say that. The term "most balanced Killer" was made up by the Community. And it was made up in 2018 already.

The game got way easier for Killers over the years, logical that the "most balanced Killer" is not the most balanced Killer anymore, when the game got easier.

I mean, by what they were saying in chat it looked like they did it on purpose. I played Wraith and the DC happened just after I hit the friend of the DCer. Could it be there is an exploit that allows a survivor to "suspend" DC while loading, so that they could dodge the whole game if they don't like the killer or something?

    Most likely not.

The guy already crashed, but the game failed to notice that. At some point, the game realizes that one Survivor did not load in and cancels the game.

That is completely incorrect, the jungle gym tile spawns on that map are set, while the style may vary there is always the same amount of them regardless of how many filler pallets there are. The point of the OP's post is he is complaining that the game is getting MMR but isn't being balanced at all for high MMR levels when it is common knowledge that at high levels of play the game falls apart completely.

First of all, 99% of the people who complain about "high level play" are not even at this Level.

Second, Storehouse is known for having those strange Spawns since the Rework. You will most likely find the minimum amount of Pallets, because you have more T/L-Walls than other Maze Tiles.

  • Eh, you should not really complain about the Pallet Spawns on Storehouse. It happens frequently that multiple Pallets are in that Spot, but therefore you have less Jungle Gyms and Long Walls and more T/L-Walls, which will benefit you.

So it is not really a big deal.

Map-RNG in general - yes, this is something that speaks against SBMM.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2427911#Comment_2427911

Well the devs say its balanced and mmr is determined by a bunch of different aspects (they have said, they just stated it's not just off kills)

If you're asking me personally then for survivors chase is the most important skill wise, this is a category which a bad survivor and a good survivor has a huge gap between, next would be a made up category "efficiency" as this is another huge part of high level players.

All in all the game should be focusing on what makes good players good players, and I know kills isnt that and I think the devs soon realized it too.

Even in the recent survey they're asking what hooks do people class as wins so I assume hooks is becoming more of a balancing point?

I'd rather hooks than kills personally, I'd take 8 hooks 0 kills over 1 kill with1/3hooks

I agree that Kills should not be the sole factor, even tho, the 2K = Balance is more based on ALL games which are played.

2K for a single match can indeed mean everything - this can be the Basement Bubba who camps the first Survivor and gets another Kill with NOED, or the guy who plays without Add Ons, gets 10 Hooks and a 2K. (Or, even 8 Hooks and 0K, would not mean that they played worth than this Bubba)

However, when it comes to Chases, I really dont know how they want to calculate it and I also doubt that the system is very complicated (which would speak for hiding it). You could go for Chase Time in relation ot the Pallets used. However, then we have Maps... Like, Survivor A is on Haddonfield, you can run a Killer around for some time without using any Pallet. Then Survivor B is on The Game, which basically only has Pallets, so Survivor B will get a worse Rating, despite maybe being the better player.

And it can also happen on the same Map - lets say, Killer-Rating is determined by the time they take in Chases. Killer A gets Gas Heaven with a lot of Pallets in the middle of the Map. Killer B gets Gas Heaven with a lot of Tank Tracks in the middle, aka a big deadzone. Obviously Killer B will have an easier time to down Survivors in that area, so they will get a higher Rating, just because of Map RNG.

Another thing would be Skill outside of Chases - not everyone is good in Chases, so they most likely have something which also determines that Skill. Like Stealth - hiding next to the Killer without being found? Maybe possible. And efficiency is also important, sure, everyone can do Gens, but the better Survivors are those, who are efficient on Gens, so maybe a Penalty for opening Chests, idle time and a bonus for being on Gens relative to the Match Time. However, this would encourage Survivors to not waste any time on anything else than Gens (even tho this would make them the better players).

I dont have bad games since SBMM is live. My Billy games are a little bit sweaty and my Nurse games are way too easy, but other than that, it looks alright. However, I highly doubt that an automatic system is able to check the Players Skill, except it has a HUGE ton of variables, and I dont think that this is the case. We most likely have something like Hooks, Kills, Escapes, Chase Time and thats about it.

This. Exactly. You can't judge people by just ONE action and knowing only one of the sides. I'm not saying OP was toxic or anything but it's interesting to see so many answers automatically assuming OP was the good guy with the best intentions and the other part was someone being a jerk. People usually have different interpretations of what everything means in this game due to the lack of communication in-game. I've seen survivors honestly say they sometimes wait by the exit gate to give the killer "a hit to get BPs" and also killers say they'd rather not take it because it's out of pity.

Yeah, I also did not mean to say that OP might have been toxic during the game. The vast majority of players on both sides is pretty nice, from my experience.

I just wanted to bring a point why a Survivor might not want to take the Hatch. And saying it like @tennmio "It would feel like a betrayel" if you are the one getting away why the rest had to suffer the whole game is probably the best way to describe it.

Ah, OK. Thanks. I hate when killers just slug to let the whole team bleed out. I don't understand why people do that. I don't even think it counts as a sacrifice. Sucks they did that to you.

Yes @ doubt. I'm a survivor main who really only started playing killer during the 5th Year Anniversary event, because the juicy cakes made it so I could actually afford to build out both sides. But I'm always looking for more knowledge. So, thanks.

It was pretty close to the hatch. I have a screenshot, but didn't post here because I think it's against the rules. Then they crawled away into a corner where it looked like they were underneath furniture (glitch?) and I brought them back in front of the hatch. What I usually like to do is pick them up so they can get wiggle-out points. But they didn't even wiggle.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2426688#Comment_2426688

Very interesting. Never heard of this and I don't think this was the case, but I'll keep it in the back of my mind. I suppose it's possible they thought I bugged them out?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2426690#Comment_2426690

Nah, if I'm doing a "destroy 12 generators" challenge, I don't need the 4K. Might as well spread the bloodpoints around. I already had a lot of points from the match. I'm good with 3Ks.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2426701#Comment_2426701

I don't face camp, proxy camp, and I anti-tunnel (purposefully chase survivor who was not hooked last). It was a pretty clean game.

In your game, what did the killer do that you found to be jerk actions?

It was a Iri Head Huntress (before the Nerf). Slugged me, then another guy, without any intention to pick us up. In the end, she slugged all of us, I was the last one to be picked up (yes, it was a very fast game) and she wanted to give me Hatch. But I was too pissed off from this game.

But, if you played fair and square, the Survivor was just salty. Happens.

  • Depends how you play the rest of the game.

I also did not take the Hatch once, the Killer was playing like a total Jerk and acting nice at the end. So I was like "Nah, just kill me".

  • This sounds like Lag or Desync. Basically, the player is sending information to the Server. If the information is interrupted, the Server will use the latest input, which would be "running forward" for the Survivor.

If said Survivor regains Connection, the Server will adjust, meaning that the Survivor will be on their actual position afterwards, which makes them "disappear" from the previous location the Killer saw.

If this is happening convenient and frequently, it might be something fishy. But most of the time it is an actual technical problem (and I can tell you from my own experience, it is annoying as Survivor as well, because from the Survivor perspective, the Killer becomes unreadable as well).

  • Athleteface is Meg.

    Survivorface is Jake.

Smartface is Claudette and Leaderface is Dwight.

  • There is no way to know how many of the Survivors you sacrified.

But now is a good time to play Bubba since Jake is featured in the Tome and his face is the hardest to get (by far).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/268037/dc-penalties-is-really-needed-as-without-it

Edit: They loss because instead of saving Leon, The last two survivor committed on getting their Gens done. That was their mistake, It was not my fault they got all downed in 2 Minutes.

My point here in this thread is that, Is it my fault that the First Gen popped in 19 secs? What could have stopped these guys from using those 3 BnPs on the last Generators? Is this really balanced?

Fair enough, I only checked Titles and not the threads itself.

" What could have stopped these guys from using those 3 BnPs on the last Generators?"

You? The Killer? You know that you are responsible for removing Survivors from the game?

  • Really a loss for BHVR, he was one a really good Dev.

At least I can still read his horrible dad jokes on Twitter.

  • Funny thing:

OP also has a video on his Youtube-Channel were all Survivors are either slugged or hooked after 2 minutes of playtime with Blight. I dont see a Thread about this, but completing one Gen with 3 BNPs in 20 seconds is a huge issue, but winning the game in 2 minutes is alright.

  • Because this is the actual match outcome. Why does the first Gen matter? This means nothing for the match, the first Gen is always the easiest.

    @Topic:

You got a 4K. How many Gens were left when you killed all Survivors? As I have written above, the first Gen does not matter, the goal is to prevent Survivors from completing all Gens and escape, not to end the game with 5 Gens up.

  • @BioX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424280#Comment_2424280

that does not make sense to me, I mean by that logic the devs should not allow for you to see perks or add ons either because they carry just as much if not more weight then SWF.

And also its only because of the misconception that SWF could even be seen as an insult because some butthurt players think that that is the sole reason they lost, but being able to see if you faced SWF in the endscreen would dispell that notion over time.

I mean, this has to be one of the reasons (or the only reason) to be against that. Other than that I would not know any reason why BHVR should not introduce it.

  • Two things I can think about:

Today, both me and my SWF-friend were left until we reached struggle state. When I was on the Hook my SWF-Mate got chased and the other Survivors so it, because he was the Obsession. And they were both in an SWF as well and neither came to unhook me. Later, I got chased, the Meg saw me getting chased, my friend was on the Hook and the Ace was not going for the rescue.

    A few days ago:

Killers burns a Basement-Offering. It is a Bubba... Claudette goes down, in the Basement, Bubba does not leave it. So, Insidious, pretty obvious. Leon wents down into the Basement, is obviously downed and also on the Hook. Yay. And what does Leon do? Uses up his Attempts to go into Struggle (Claudette was just hanging around before) and kills himself on Hook. So we were not able to do the remaining Gens with 2 people, we might have been able if Leon would have just endured it.

In Endgame Chat, Leon complains about the camping and I call him out for being stupid by going down into the Basement while he should have known that the Bubba will be there with Insidious. And Leon just said that he does not play the game to tryhard... But gifting a 4K to a Insidious Bubba is fine to him...

I was really disappointed, especially because that guy was not even new, 1500 hours. He should have known better.

  • Honestly, depends on which Killer you are playing. Like, I believe it is impossible to depip with Legion, but some others really get ######### by the Emblem System.

But overall, yes, ranking up is easier as Killer. At least from my experience, I get way more Double Pips or Blackpips (during bad games), compared to Survivor.

  • @GannTM said:

Only problems I have with the map are how dark it can be and that the library is a poorly thought out room. Other than that I enjoy the map.

Those are exactly my feelings. Maybe minus the library, since I am rarely in it (I dont go there as Survivor and have chased a Survivor into the Library only once).

But it is too dark and this is coming from me, who complains about the game being to bright most of the time. But sometimes you almost see nothing in the corridors.

Other than that, I dont have that much of a problem with that Map. It will never be my favorite Map, but I also think that most players are really overreacting if they have to play this Map once in a while.

  • @BioX said:

this is stuff we have discussed for YEARS now, that is both the interesting and the incredibly sad part about this forum, watching the same things being discussed over and over again only because the devs dont actually want to try these things....

Anywho, I advocated a while ago for being able to see SWF in the END SCREEN, not before, but at the end so it could dispell some of the misconception that SWF means "completely unbeatable sweaty tryhards".

Personally, I am all for showing it in the Endgame Screen. I am very sure that many Killers will be surprised that they indeed beat SWFs and they will also lose the easy excuse of "Must have been an SWF".

However, I can totally understand BHVR on this, because it has a potential for toxicity. Some players tend to use "SWF player" in an insulting way, like that it is something illegal, something bad to play with friends. Everyone knows the feeling of playing Solo and getting ######### on by a Killer who thinks you are playing in a 4 man SWF, because for them it is impossible that they might lose to Solos.

So I guess this will also never happen.

  • @Unifall said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424080#Comment_2424080

Pretty sure it was because if it wasn't swf would be a bit more balanced. But do you understand why people think swf has an advantage or do I have to explain it to you?

Yes, please explain it. I am new to the game and I am also very dumb. /s

And nah, the Devs confirmed that SWF was planned from the beginning, but during the initial launch they only had the time to either implement SWF or KYF, they went for KYF.

And while SWF provides an Advantage, Killer Mains are really overestimating this advantage and most of the time they lose because they are not good enough and not because of SWFs. There are countless examples of Killers winning against 4 man SWFs, yet those get ignored.

SWF is not a secret godmode. A SWF of 4 competent Survivors is strong, but those 4 players as Solos would probably be the same Challenge for the Killer, because, believe it or not, some Survivors are not that braindead that they need someone to tell them that they have to work on Gens.

But, this whole discussion is pointless, the Devs will never implement something like this, because they actually have more knowledge of game design than some Killer Mains.

It's not about "easy", it's about fair. Comms = unfair advantage not intended by the game itself, and a huge one. So nothing wrong with not wanting to play against people who use an unfair advantage and wishing instead to play just how the game's balance intends.

4 Solos are not really a challenge most of the time. Most SWFs are also not a challenge for the most part.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424016#Comment_2424016

The game was made for solo ques. Swf was more of an after thought. For the most part swf offer a huge advantage but you don't agree with that right? Its clear when its a swf. Its not very fun for the killer but only survivor mains can have fun right? Get real. This is why the us vs them examples are always a bad way to express your opinion.

"Swf was more of an after thought. "

It was NEVER an "after thought". SWF was planned from the beginning. Imagine someone wants to create a game in 2016 with one side being a Team without the option to play together...

Yeah, because comms don't give 38 extra perks and other advantages which game's balance can't deal with. You are not even trying.

Imagine playing against a known cheater and trying to win instead of dodging the lobby with him. Must be fun.

Nah, I just find it legit funny that a Killer Main calls someone a Tryhard, while wanting to dodge Lobbies to get a full Solo-Lobby, just to have it as easy as possible.

And the thought is amusing that someone does a 3 hour playsession in the evening with 2 hours of them dodging Lobbies, because be careful, there is an evil SWF and as we all know, every SWF in this game is at least tournament-level.

And well, SWF is not cheating.

I love to verse Blight. Such a cool Killer. We need more!

I am not talking about the implementation of the Power, even tho I agree on Blight.

Like, Twins are horrible excecuted and I hate versing them, but the idea is very creative.

Same goes for Deathslinger, his lack of counterplay is disturbing, meanwhile before his implementation you could have asked basically every DBD-player who played this game for a while if they would ever think a Killer with a gun will be implemented and the answer would be "No". This just shows how creative the Devs are, implementing a Killer with a Gun, which was basically not possible before.

And I am pretty sure there will be many more licensed Killers which have great creativitiy nobody thought about before.

  • Original Chapters are way better than licensed Chapters. The Devs are very creative and a Killer like Nemesis or Pyramid Head dont come close to the creativity you see on Killers like Blight, Twins or Deathslinger.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2423248#Comment_2423248

well, thats not really how it seems to work.

i have played a variety of killers, but my Survivors have always been pretty consistant, skill wise.

i just played a Hillbilly game - and i rarely ever touch that Killer. yet the Survivors i have been matched with were around the same level as those i go up against when playing Doctor / Deathslinger (my current "mains")

You are currently pretty boosted by the bad Survivors you usually face. Your Hillbilly-Rating will be around the same, if you rarely touch him, since you dont start at 0 when you try out a "new" Killer.

When it comes to boosted - your rating probably increased a lot, because the average Survivor is not good and Killers most of the time have easy games against average Survivors. This means lots of MMR-Increase (not as much as when you would beat good Survivors, but there is a steady increase). Now you are at a high Level and actually face Survivors on your Level, so you lose some games, because you are not on their Level.

It should be better after a few days, because then your Rating is lower. However, this means that you got stomped quite a bit, so there are some painful days and then it should get better. Since BHVR is bruteforcing SBMM on us whether we like it or not, you can quit for a few days and get this experience once it is live, OR you can try it out right now.

  • @Nos37 said:

This should also include items, addons, and offerings that are no longer obtainable.

Some of my characters still have the disabled Moon offerings, as well as the Brown and Yellow Map offerings, in their inventory, so they will never be prestiged.

    ----

That said, the OP should know that prestiging only gives a bloody cosmetic (which meant a lot more before they added the cosmetics store) and a slightly increased chance of higher rarity rewards appearing on the Bloodweb (I think Scott Jund said it was a single digit % increase (less than 10%)).

I have heard of 1% per Prestige Level. So really not worth it except for the Bloody Clothing.

But yes, this should be the case for everything - Splinters, Moon Offerings, Event Offerings, old stuff in general. Especially since the Devs talked about Prestige Rewards, players should not be hold back from prestiging in fear of losing the old and rare stuff they collected a few years ago.

  • You probably dont have a rating on Huntress, so it took the Rating of your other Killers.

What I'm trying to say is when the killer DC's, it doesn't have as much of an impact as it does when a survivor DC's, but morally it's still selfish to DC just because it's a map you dislike.

Furthermore, I've been playing the game since 2017 and we all know how annoying the grind is, so when you say "you get much more offerings than you will ever use" I disagree because for the past few days I've been levelling up Cheryl and I've somehow managed to get ONE BPS offering in the entire time I was levelling her.

A Killer-DC has more impact than a Survivor-DC. When a Survivor DCs, the other Survivors can at least have a game and some points (depends on the Killer tho, if they want to play chill or not). If the Killer DCs, the game is over.

  • Offerings: No idea.

Maps: Most likely there are problems on the Maps. I have read on the Forums that The Game can spawn with two closed walls next to the Generator in the room with the big Drop, which would mean it is impossible for Survivors to get there, if the Killer does not break the Wall.

For Dead Dawg, it might be possible that it was not intentional to remove a breakable Wall from the Main Building.

For Blood Lodge: No idea, but there will probably be something wrong as well.

In general, Maps get disabled if they cause problems like inaccessible areas, invisible Walls, Crashes, etc.

  • Eh, I mean, the Killer should also not DC. No "I get the Killer doing it", they are also ruining it for 4 other people.

But in general, I agree. This Community is full of crybabies and they think it is ok to DC, just because they dont like the Map. Instead of just sticking to it and enduring 10-15 minutes on it, they think that they are entitled to DC and ruin it for 4 other players.

  • I rarely see a player using Undying and Devour Hope. Sometimes Devour Hope, Ruin and Undying, but only Devour Hope and Undying even less.

And usually, if someone is using Undying and not Ruin, I make sure to find the Devour Hope as fast as possible, because it is almost guaranteed that they have Devour Hope at this point, which makes me want to find it quickly.

I just want to have a chance.

If I felt like, "Okay, I played ######### and I see where I need to improve." That'd be one thing.

But it isn't like that. I feel like I'm playing at the BEST of my ability and getting outclassed by the game itself.

Also, as a sidenote, I played Billy for the first time ever and it was a step down from that. I'm pretty sure it uses your current Rank as a baseline.

Yes, the current Rank is used for Baseline when trying out a new Killer. Otherwise, everyone would start at 0 when a new Killer is released, which would mean that experienced players would play against very new Survivors all the time, until their rating is set.

In regards to Billy, I think I am experiencing around the same as you, but not as extreme. Before the SBMM, I won most of my games, but yesterday I only got a 1K because of Endgame-Camping and 7 Hooks in total (was 4 before they started trading). And I doubt this only happened because I switched infectious Fright for Shadowborn on him.

I will probably have some bad Billy-games until I am at a Rating which is more suitable for me (I tested Billy because he was bugged during every SBMM-Test, pairing me (and others) with Survivors who played their first game... Despite winning like 30 games in a row).

I doubt that SBMM will be the solution in the longrun. IMO they should just keep the Ranking System, put in Rewards for it, increase the Rank Reset (really, the Matchmaking became bad when they changed the Rank Reset... This allowed Potatoes to stay in high Ranks, because they barely got set back... Before near the end of a "season" you noticed that the overall quality of games went down, because the not-so-good players were reaching Red Ranks, since they take longer. Now this is basically the case all the time..) and tweak the Emblem-System. The Emblem-System itself is not bad, it just needs a few tweaks.
