And what exactly was your point in doing this?
-
One Thread was not enough?
@RussellMan said:
I heard the Devs say they're taking the reason why the current meta perks are meta and that they will change the game base to adapt to them, but I'm still a bit concerned.
Perks like PGTW and Ruin are some of the perks that keep the match from going too fast for the Killer. If they get nerfed too much, gens will go off every 2 minutes which will make Killer even harder than it is now.
Devs, are you going to take stuff like gen speed into account with these changes too?
Also, I thought they said BBQ was in a good place, why make changes to it?
The goal is to create more variety. I guess the main reason why the Devs are doing that is because we have around 200 Perks, but only a fraction of those is actually used.
I would not really consider Ruin healthy, especially with some Killer Additions, it is at least as strong as old Ruin and 10 times more annoying. And BBQ... Well, my biggest gripe with BBQ is that it should be an incentive to not tunnel, but is really bad it it, considering a Killer can tunnel and still get their 4 Stacks of BBQ. BUT with the rework of the Grind, BBQ should really become less of a staple.
I mean, if a new Killer releases, I dont have to get their Perks on the other almost 30 Killers (which is 5 Bloodwebs each, if I am not mistaken), I only have to get this particular Killer to P3 to get their Perks on all my other Killers. And on the other side, I only need to get the Perks of the new Killer and the general Perks on the new Killer. This is a massive reduction.
-
It is obvious that it is bad game design if the Survivor on the Hook has to rely on the unhooking Survivor to have BT, otherwise they are right back on the Hook.
However, BT alone does not do anything against tunneling. Same with DS. Both are laughable when it comes to their Anti-Tunnel Potential.

It’s not just killers- it sucks for us survivors too. IDK what the hell is going on. Too many games I get high MMR killers with low-mid MMR teammates. What kind of matchmaking is this?? It’s all over the place for both sides.
Yeah, the Ranges are probably way too big.
This means that you can have Survivors who are more skilled or way less skilled than you when playing Killer.
And when you play Survivor, it can happen that you have Baby Teammates, who really run to the edge of the Map while being chased and then you go against the Blight with the most Rush Hits in the next game. It is just strange.

"It's better than nothing" is such a crap statement, when they could easily be more lenient with it. With the constant additions of both outfits and chapters, the current speed is a bit too slow.
And others doing the same makes it okay?
BHVR is a company, not a charity.
Of course they want to make money. And if they offer a way to unlock stuff (Characters, Cosmetics) via playtime, it will obviously take some time. Because if it would be easy and/or fast, nobody would need to buy things with real money.
-
As an example:
If the new Resident Evil-Killer comes out and you have all other Killers at P3, the new Killer will start with all teachables on Tier 3, but you will need to do a few Bloodwebs to get the general Perks and their own teachables.
Once you brought the new Killer to P3, every other Kill will have the new Perks at Tier 3 as well.
And if you are a completionist, but dislike to play some Killers, you will never have to play them again. E.g. I have all Perks and P3-50 on my Hag, but I hate to play her. So if a new Killer releases, I will just bring them to P3, have all their Perks on Hag and dont need to play a single game of Hag anymore.
-
If a Perk is unfun or unfair to go against is highly subjective. Like, many people are complaining about DH, I dont have any problem with DH.
They also said that they look WHY certain Perks are Meta. E.g. Corrupt Intervention is Meta, because the Killer is the weakest in the early-game. BT and DS are Meta because without those, it would be a 3v1 after 2 minutes and the Survivors lost at this point. This does not mean that they will just nerf all of those Perks into the ground.
I think their major point is that they have around 200 Perks in the game but only a tenth of those actual find use. And the number is only so high because the Killers can utilize different Perks (e.g. Infectious Fright is awesome on Oni, but you will never run it on Hag. STBFL is great on Demo, but nonsense on Nurse). But it gets worse on the Survivor Side, since they dont have many strong Perks and some of them are needed as Bandaids (BT and DS). And Killers can also go full Slowdown on every Killer without problems (you can use different builds which suits the Killer or just go BBQ, PGTW, Pain Resonance and Corrupt intervention on everyone of them without any problem).
@sizzlingmario4 said:
If you want the meta to change then yes.
Although, I will admit I don’t see how they can really nerf selfcare without making it garbage tier.
This is one example - Self Care is not too strong. It is a decent Perk (when used smart), but not too strong. So maybe they make it Basekit and create a completely new Perk.
So, yeah. Overall I think the goal is to not see the same 4 Perks every game on both sides.

@DBDVulture said:
Unbreakable comes in a "once per game" form if you bring it from Bill and a "use as often as you like" form with a boon.
This is a perfect example of why boons and hexes should follow the same rules : Either they are break once and gone forever or they can always be lit again.
Blood Fervor would be a balanced perk if you could just keep lighting it over and over again. Then again it would be a balanced perk if it were not a boon but instead it just had a 45 second cooldown after you down a survivor.
First of all, compaing Hexes and Boons is just wrong. The only similarity is that both are shiny Totems.
Second, do you really use the super-bad Perk Boon: Exponential as a justification to say that Boons should be one-time use? Exponential is so much weaker than Unbreakable. Both are already really situational, but when you call UB situational, you need a new work for Exponential, since you need to:
- be slugged
- in a specific area after a Boon was set up there
- the Killer needs to leave the Boon alone
-
@Yippiekiyah said:
There’s not a single killer perk that too strong. Gen slowdown perks are stacked coz gen speeds are way too fast. Survivor perks like dead hard, circle of healing and prove thyself need major changes.
Yeah, you cannot expect to get the Survivor-Meta nuked and the Killer-Meta staying untouched.
Killrates are still not low at all. If you would cut down chases by nerfing Survivor-Perks, Slowdown-Perks would need to go.
-
We dont even know what they change. How should anyone predict a Meta?
-
@sizzlingmario4 said:
I wouldn’t be surprised if they just remove the BP bonus from BBQ and then leave it alone. At first I was thinking “please don’t remove the points it’s not an OP perk” but the more I think about it, the progression rework makes that less important anyways. And the aura reading is not overpowered at all.
IMO with the massive grind reduction the Bonus-BP can easily be removed. Bringing a Killer vom P0 to P3 and getting all their Perks on every other Killer is a huge improvement. Same for Survivors (even if it is a bit sad that I have 0 reason now to play any other Survivor than my Main).
And my biggest gripe with BBQ was always that it should be an incentive to not tunnel or camp, but even if the Killer does that, they still get double BPs.
However, if they remove the BP-Bonus from BBQ, they would probably also remove it from WGLF and then they would probably need to give it another effect. Like, only Aura Read for BBQ is still ok (not great, but also not weak), but Speed Increase while healing people on the ground is a bit lackluster.

Did we get a confirmation on base mechanic changes? Pretty neat if we did. Are they moving corrupt to base as well? That would be amazing <3
They said in the Anniversary Stream that alongside the Perk-Reworks there will be some small basekit changes. We can pretty much confirm that something against camping will become basekit from a previous Q&A. (But it does not mean it will 100% come like this)
But for the rest, no idea yet if and what will change.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This is good. And they did not have to nerf the Videotape for that.

Nuking the other side metas.
Yeah, I guess some people wanted only to nuke one side.
But it should be obvious that if you nuke the Survivor-Meta, the Killer-Meta cannot stay the same and vice-versa.
So I am excited what will happen. Especially since they mentioned base game-changes, so I guess they will add something which slows down Gens and nuke the Slowdown-Perks or Anti-camping or Anti-Tunneling measures.
-
I thought nuking the Metas was something people wanted?

Or, you know, people are passionate about wanting to improve the things they like?
I get RPD far more than every 100 games. It's not as ubiquitous as Swamp or Farm, but I see it plenty - and I groan a little whenever I do.
But okay - what exactly do you have against fixing the map up? If you don't see it much, this shouldn't bother you and if you don't like it, why not improve it?
As I said, it is just the mentality.
And I wont change my mind on that one. The endless complaints until a thing is changed are annoying.
-

...That's what feedback is, certainly?
RPD has been a widely hated map for a while now. The amount of times someone just straight up DCs/AFKs on loading in here is quite something.
It wasn't quite as one sided as Haddonfield or Badham was/is, but it just seems to be a map that rubs a lot of folks up the wrong way.
Nah, this is just the DBD-Community.
You know, you dont get RPD a lot. I would guess I get the Map every 100 games. And I am fine with that, I dont really like this Map, but it is different.
But the Community is always complaining non-stop about something until it is changed. And then they hop on the next thing. Like a bunch of spoiled kids.
-
Quite sad.
The "I dont like this thing so I will complain about it until it is changed"-mentality won again.
-
It is a decent Perk. And used A LOT.
-
This happens if someone does not want to play against Legion.
-
@Chilli_man2400 said:
They reduced the map spawn rate to 0.1% so you will never get this map. Unless a offering is used. You can still use the offering to be sent there

@Thusly_Boned said:
I think the plan is to buff solo, but nothing is going to be equivalent to voice comms, ever. A good SWF on comms will always be bringing a gun to a knife fight, metaphorically speaking.
But the rumored plans seem like they will be adequate to me, if we ever seen them come to pass.
And don't forget not all SWFs are good. Some are awful, and some are just goofing.
Comms are not even the reason for the difference between Solos and SWFs. The difference is that you can filter out Potatoes.
Example:
I am on the Hook. Survivor A is being chased (just got injured AND is the Obsession). Survivor B and C are on a Gen together. I die on the Hook.
How would Comms changed anything? They got perfect information - they knew where everyone was (A was occupied by being chased and the remaining teammate of them was with them on a Gen).
So if they buff Solo with Icons (as they said that they were thinking about it), it will not matter too much. Because even if this Meg sees that a Teammate is getting chased, this does not mean that she will be useful.

Those dastardly killer mains!
Urgghhhh!
Interestingly, I think your post is the only one talking about 'mains'.
I mean, why should they announce something like this during the Anniversary Stream?
(And I would have said the same thing for Survivor Mains if someone would have opened a Thread a la "Will Nurse die tomorrow?")
-
I have the hope that the community for once does not show how ######### they are in the Twitch-Chat.
I know, I am a dreamer.
-
The Anniversary Stream is not the place to cater to the ever-complaining Killer Mains.
-
I watched a bit on Twitch, but does not look like my cup of tea.

It's surpassed the DS-Unbreakable combo? did that get changed in some way?
DS gets disabled if you sneeze. Or, to be more precise - if you do anything (Totems, Gens, Healing other players).
And then they moved to the next thing, which is DH. After DH gets nerfed, there will be a new topic.
-
The Devs talked about increasing or removing the Cap in their latest Q&A. Because it is indeed questionable to have a 1 Million-BP Cap if you get up to 2 Million each month for Grade Reset and they introduced Bonus Codes and other stuff which allows you to go over 1 Million anyway.
IMO it should be increased in general and then also increases for each Level of Devotion. Like, 3 Million Cap at base and then 100k BP per Devotion-Level, so someone at Devotion 10 can save 4 Million BPs, someone at Devotion 15 4,5 Million and so on.
-
Because in Teamgames, you can at least trick yourself that it was not only your fault that you lost. In DBD, you are the only player, so you were the one responsible for losing.
-
I am confused:
@Noslo said:
I stopped playing DBD because of some horrible toxic players ruining my time. It's been 3 years since I stopped but I would like to try it again with my friend who loves the game. When I was doing some research on the game, I was seeing so much negative stuff about this game. So much so that I almost feel like it would be a waste of time to play it again. I do want to try to like it again, but with all this negativity surrounding this game I am unsure. I was hoping others who play right now could give their opinion on if this game is worth getting back into or of its a lost cause and waste of time.

"a bit of a time investment"
Not really. Bloodlust 1 barely does anything, so I'll be taking BL2 as an example.
BL2, which takes 30 seconds, which depends, but is usually around 60 seconds worth of Generator time.
That's 75% across 2 different Generators, or if the team is efficient, across 3 different Generators.
2 single chase that lasts that long can lose 3-4 Generators, 3 and you lost all of them. "a bit of time invested" is a big understatement
Bloodlust 1 is enough to get a Hit at unsafe Loops. You dont need Bloodlust 2 or even 3, unless you are super-dumb and want to bloodlust a Longwall or Jungle Gym.

What is a "fair loop" and what is this magical term you've literally just made up? What is the criterion for a "fair loop"? Is a pallet between two flaming barrels each 1m wide a fair loop? How about the old Haddonfield fence with a vault in the center?
How about a loop that is 1m tall but the Killer is a Ghostface? Is that a 'fair loop"? How about the same tile, but now it is a Trickster? Is that a "fair loop"?
Bloodlust is designed to end the chases in the Killer's favor after X amount of time. That is why it is still in the game after the removal of infinites. They did no bloodlust weekends and saw no reason to remove it.
"Bloodlust is undeserved" is nothing more than the attitude of Survivor Mains that think "my skill should be able to carry me forever and if it can't, it isn't fair!".
The problem with that mentality is it is operating under the impression the contest is one on one and it's NOT. This is a four on one and as long as this is an assymettrical game you can't have "fair chases" by your vague concepts of "fair".
A fair Loop is a unsafe Loop. Which I actually wrote. But thanks for ignoring it. :^)
A Jungle Gym is not unsafe. You cannot Bloodlust it, unless you want to go into Bloodlust 3 and still spend quite a lot of time.
Buf if we look at the Car/Rubbish-Loop in front of the school in Badham (next to the Fence-Window, you will probably know which one I mean), this is a good example for a fair Loop. Both the Killer AND the Survivor can outplay each other here. But, once the Killer gets Bloodlust, the Survivor will get hit.
And IMO, the game should be balanced around Loops like that - a shitload of Pallets, almost all of them unsafe and only very, very few safe Pallets. But for this, Bloodlust would need to go.
When Bloodlust was disabled during a weekend, I played a lot of M1-Killers (and still got a 3K average..) unlike other Killers who chickened out instead of testing. And it actually felt nice to get outplayed at an unsafe Loop, because the Survivor was actually better than me. With Bloodlust, I would have just get a cheap Speedboost and won the chase.
And yep, undeserved. Sorry, if you fail to get Hits on unsafe Loops, this is a skill-issue.

But Bhvr sold it to them (Idk the exact word) and would have to know that they would be creating their own skins.
This is probably in the contract that Netease is allowed to add Content on their own. They are probably paying BHVR more for the ability to add own content.
And, who knows, maybe there will be a Netease-exclusive Killer in the future? (I doubt it, but I know other game companies where this is possible)

You're advocating to get the weakest player out first. Am I understanding this right?
I did not say that.
But it is dumb to tunnel out one person because they are the best Survivor when you want to have short chases.

So, one of the reason is to tunnel out the best player and THEN you also complain about long chases?
If you intentionally go for the best player/looper, dont complain about your chases taking so long.

"Obviously Bloodlust needs changing"
Nothing obvious about it at all. It doesn't need changing. It is perfect as it is.
"But those loops become unfair..."
Nowhere is it written loops need to be fair. This is coming from the mindset players invented (not the developers), that you should be able to run a killer for 5 gens.
Chases are designed, from a game mechanic standpoint, to end in the killer's favor. You are not entitled to a 7 minute killer run until every generator is done.
Sorry, at fair Loops the better player wins. This can be the Survivor or the Killer.
If you can only win at fair (aka unsafe) Loops with Bloodlust, you were not the better player and got it undeserved. You actually got outplayed and get the hit handed for a bit of time investment.
This is actually "being rewarded for mistakes".
-
I would not bet on it.
The thing is, those are for the Chinese Mobile Version. I would consider it a different game at this point, because it is run by a Chinese Company. From my experience this means that the regular "rules" dont really apply so I would not hope for a release of Skins here.
(Maybe, depending on the contract, there will be exclusive Killers on the Chinese Mobile Version, who knows... But I dont think that BHVR would give THAT much freedom)

I have seen basically everything you can do in this game be called a tech at some point or another from putting a bear trap in a specific spot to literally just tapping a gen, it's pretty incredible.
Yeah, exactly, I have seen everything called a Tech by now, from normal gameplay to exploits.

Yeah learning everything victor can do is....tricky.
Now it is called a "tech" when someone misses their pounce and bounce back and get a hit by pure luck?
-
And again people really think that every Survivor just negates an error with DH?
The good Survivors, aka those were DH might be problematic, dont make a mistake, they are greedy because DH allows them to play greedy. The bad Survivors who make mistake are not really an issue with DH. Those are the guys who DH for distance in an open field or plant their face into a wall while using DH.
-
The Build is very bad. Yes, Circle of Healing. And 3 really bad Perks. This Survivor cannot unhook people safely, you can tunnel everyone who gets unhooked by that Survivor. And you can tunnel that Survivor, since they dont have DS.
Let alone, if they set up a Boon far away from the area where Gens have to be done, they are also wasting quite a lot of time to heal.

I am 100% willing to take a look at killer sided mechanics once Dead Hard is assassinated.
Because then we can look at some more honest data.
Bloodlust does not need to be changed. It has nothing to do with Dead Hard and is a non-factor in perk design.
I welcome a Sprint Burst gamer. Because if I see him take off at Warp 7, I know to break chase now and I don't get 45 seconds of my time wasted in a chase that ends that I "won" only to have that robbed from me by the "E" key. And if they are 99ing it, it means they are not doing things like totems or generators, so it is whatever.
And yes, Dead Hard is responsible for GROTESQUE amounts of chase time. I've seen it buy more than THREE MINUTES of chase time. That's absurd. And inb4 "then you chased too long", which was addressed by KillaWhale in the video.
Obviously Bloodlust needs changing. It is only really impactful at Loops which are fair - unsafe Pallets, mindgameable Loops. But those Loops become unfair after 15 seconds when Bloodlust 1 kicks in. Strong Loops with strong Pallets are not really considered for Bloodlust, since the Killer will kick the Pallet anyway.
"I welcome a Sprint Burst gamer. Because if I see him take off at Warp 7, I know to break chase now and I don't get 45 seconds of my time wasted in a chase that ends that I "won" only to have that robbed from me by the "E" key. And if they are 99ing it, it means they are not doing things like totems or generators, so it is whatever."
I really dont understand this. Killers complain about Survivors not being scared of Killers, but it is totally fine for them that a Survivor can sit on a Gen until the very last second and can get into saftey immediatly? Without any form of danger?
If the majority of Survivors switch to Sprint Burst, you will see how much more annoying it is compared to DH. DH can prolong a chase, Sprint Burst can mean that a chase does not even start, because it is not worth to go after that Survivor.
And you can do Gens and, if you want to help the Killer, Totems, while being off Sprint Burst. Because it does not matter if you have it ready or 99ed, the Survivor will be able to use it if the Killer approaches.
But, lets just wait until they nerfed DH into the ground when Killers realize that Sprint Burst is the superior Perk. I will have lots of fun writing: "I told you." in each of those Threads.

Survivor has one hooked stage mark before being hooked -> gets second hooked stage mark after being hanged -> dies
so it is a visual bug?
Yes, this is a visual Bug. Does also not apply to every Survivor, so you can have correct Hook Stages and incorrect Hook Stages in one Match.
-
I mean, it does not only have advantages that he has the Hitbox of a SUV. You might get stuck on some collision, but you also down Survivors despite the visual model of Victor flying past them.
And from the looks like it, this might be your very first pounce. (5 Gens, no Hooks, no Survivor injured) Twins need some time to get used to Victor.
