I just don't understand BHVR's thought process when it comes to making some bugs actual features, and removing others. "Thought process" is the incorrect term, I mean how does BHVR decide which bugs to keep and which bugs to remove?
I dont know. If you want to know, ask them, not me.
They decided that this is a Bug and it will be fixed. And this should honestly be the end of all discussions about it.
-
The Devs thought about this and decided against it. And IMO for an ability which makes Pallets and Windows unsafe, it is alright to have a drawback.

It is fair, once you learn how it works. But that is to hard, right? Any game mechanic that requires you to think to counter it is OP. lol
It is confirmed to be a Bug. It will be fixed. So why even argue?
-
Vaults are already validated, they are part of the regular Hit Validation.
However, this is so generous that it might not even exist. Because not everyone lives close to a Server, which means that players with high Ping will also get their Hits.

I didn't have a problem with Dead Hard until recently... It's just in every game without fail, and usually all of the survivors have it. It's just obnoxious when you outplay a survivor only to have your skill nullified by a perk which then extends the chase so long that there's nothing a lot of the lower tier killers can possibly do to keep up with it.
With old matchmaking there was a better mix of perks, though Dead Hard was still very good, and a better mix of skill in terms of how well a player used their perks.
Now that MMR is a thing it's just 3-4 Dead Hards every game, and hit validation has only made it worse.
The good Survivors dont get outplayed, they use DH because it allows them to get greedy.
And "DH without fail"... Well, welcome back to pre-Dedicated Servers. Where DH worked without fail all the time or at the very least you were not exhausted on the ground. And nobody complained back then, despite Killer being way harder during those times.

I mean when dh for distance is in almost every chase causing at least 2 minutes to be added, to the games total time... nothing you can really do to play better as its literally enough time for the 3 other survivors to do a gen.
And yet I bet that OP never thought "Ok, I did not play that well this game". Like so many players in DBD do.
-
Nurse should not have slugged if she has a problem with Unbreakable (or Exponential, in this case). No reason to slug 3 people with 4 Gens to go.
-
I doubt that DH is the reason you are doing poorly.
-
No.
This would just create a Meta for Survivors. And would lower the variety of Survivors used even more. Some Survivors are used A LOT, while you dont see others at all. If those would have bad base statistics, they would be even more rare to see.
And what about players who play a certain Survivor a lot and got a lot of cosmetics on them? If this Survivor gets base statistics which are not that good, you have to decide if you still want to play them or play a better Survivor.
Let alone that some things you mentioned are just their Perks put into the Basekit. Which is easy for the first few Survivors, but will become really hard for the newer Survivors.
-
While I agree that stacking Slowdown-Perks is boring and makes the game very easy as Killer, this would be the wrong way. Not every Scource Hook is actually Pain Resonance. Should players who play Floods of Rage also not get any PGTW-value?
They should rather change the Slowdown-Perks themselve (which they apparantly will do in an upcoming Update) instead of doing something like this.

There is no point in complaining about "waste of time" when the whole game is essentially that. If you can't spare a few minutes that your opponent is entitled to, then you shouldn't be playing this game at all.
Nothing wrong with a killer wanting to go for the 4k. That's the point of the role, to kill the survivors. Why should the killer settle for 3k and let the last person leave through yet another second chance feature in the game?
Why disparage the killer at all? It is no different from the last survivor hiding. Why not complain about the last survivor doing nothing to further progress the game? Hiding until the slug bleeds out, only for a chance at the hatch just wastes time. Why don't they just walk up to the killer and let them end the game faster since the killer earned it and the survivors essentially lost?
"There is no point in complaining about "waste of time" when the whole game is essentially that. If you can't spare a few minutes that your opponent is entitled to, then you shouldn't be playing this game at all."
There is a difference between actually playing the game or lying on the ground for 4 minutes.
But it is whatever, I consider slugging for the 4K sweaty and unnecessary. If you enjoy it and think it is a great experience, please tell me your ingame name, so if I have you in my game at any point, I will just slug you for 4 minutes. Because this is how you enjoy your games.
So, yeah... I wont change my opinion on that one. Everyone would get more fun and more points if the Killer would just be happy with a 3K (most of the time it is a 4K anyway, since the Hatch-Change the Killer has every advantage to get to the Hatch first). And I highly doubt that looking for the last Survivor who will just be hiding is any fun for the Killer.

If the last survivor just ran towards the killer after the 3rd survivor was downed, those three players would save even more time!
Sure. If the Killer goes into a corner when 5 Gens are done, we have a Deal.
-
Nah, you wont lose any Perks. Because you will still be able to obtain Perks normally via the Bloodweb.
Getting Perks for prestiging Characters is just an added Bonus. So you will be fine.

Personally I'm speaking from a standpoint that I feel a lot fewer people would have. As of right now on live servers, I have every killer and survivor Prestige 3 Level 50, if they hand me bloodpoints when all teachables are basically going to unlock at Tier 3 on every character anyways, it's not going to feel like I was compensated or rewarded. It will feel like, "What's this for?"
I am 100% sure that it wont be Bloodpoints. It would be a very bad move to give Bloodpoints for people who have unlocked so much already and will not really need them due to the grind reduction.

You've never played it either, so how would you know?
Players are already complaining that DBD is not really balanced. So should they open another gamemode, which also needs to be balanced?
Then, no Solo-player would play this mode. As Killer, you would have to rely on another Killer and as Survivor, you dont have 3 Teammates, but 7 Teammates who can drive you insane.
So this gamemode would probably be played by SWFs only, either large SWFs (3+-players for Survivor) or full 8-stacks against two Killers who know each other. And the community is already complaining about SWF and blaming their losses on them. This would get even bigger with a 2v8-mode.

I know 21k shard per p3 is never going to happen (even 5K per P3 would be too much), if we get shards it'd be a really low amount. I think we'll only get a special crest, which is going to sadden the many people who wanted legacy 2.0...
A Legacy 2.0 would be super-boring. And not really special, because many players will have it.
-

We're definitely never getting auric cells for free lol. If we get iri shards it would probably be a ridiculously small amount, but it'd be cool if we got 21600 shards per P3, aka enough shards for 1 outfit for each of them, which would make up for not having an exclusive cosmetic.
This is way too much. I have all Killers and Survivors P3-50, so I would get around 1,2 Million Shards in total.
The result would be that BHVR would release way more cosmetics for Auric Cells, because players will be more likely to have more than enough Shards to get the Cosmetics they want. So it would just be more expensive for those who dont have that many Characters prestiged.
@Topic:
Just go in with low expectations. Just dont think it will be too much, because honestly, getting Characters to P3 is not really an effort compared to getting all Perks on them.
But I know for sure that whatever the reward is, players will complain that it is not enough.

Whats wrong with killers wanting a 4k? Do you whine about survivors wanting a 4 man escape? If the killer played well enough to get the survivors in the described situation, why should they settle for a 3k? Wouldn't that be that essentially be the same as giving up at that point?
If I play Survivor, yes, I dislike Survivors who want to go for a 4 man escape. Because most of the time it is a trade at best and often enough the Killer gets another Kill. Especially if people try to get their teammates out of the Basement against Killers like Bubba, Huntress or Trickster.
If I am hooked in Endgame, I just suicide, because otherwise the Killer will just get more Kills.
As Killer, I dont mind if they go for a 4 man Escape, as I said, most of the time it is in my favor.
But slugging for the 4K just wastes the time of 3 players, because one player thinks that they did not win enough with a 3K and Hatch Escape (especially if the Survivors did not even get close to finishing all Gens).
-
@Gylfie said:

I personally think slugging for the 4k is very rude to the person you're slugging and to the survivor that's hiding. It wastes the slugged person's time and prevents them from moving on to the next game, and it makes the person who's hiding feel guilty because now they are wasting the slug's time as well. So what, they're supposed to hand the killer a 4k out of discomfort and guilt towards the slug?
Just take your 3k and take your chances with the hatch, you've already won at that point anyway.
"So what, they're supposed to hand the killer a 4k out of discomfort and guilt towards the slug?"
Yep, this is what Killers want.
For some reason, anything below a 4K is bad. A 3K with Hatch Escape is also a big win for the Killer, there is no doubt that they won. And the Killer has the advantage when it comes to looking for the Hatch anyway, the Survivor can only get to it first if they are lucky.

It’s a buff for you, but a nerf for me. I played Pig for the thematic traps that were supposed to have the threat of lethality, but the traps no longer feel threatening.
She’s now like Ringu, where there’s technically a small chance an instant kill might happen, but it’s so rare and avoidable that we shouldn’t bother pretending it will happen often enough to be meaningful.
What is fun in getting cheap RNG-Kills? It was not you who killed them, it was RNG. You got lucky, they got unlucky. Not really rewarding IMO.

I really don't understand the thinking that goes into perks like Overzealous and Boon: Dark Theory. Like obviously they recognise that increasing repair and movement speed is very quickly going to be gamebreaking at any significant value, so they make them insignificant and they become awful perks that aren't worth the slot.
Just stay away from affecting stats like that and make a half-decent perk instead.
This.
Dark Theory and Overzealous are horribly designed Perks, because they provide a really strong effect but have to be super-weak to not be broken, which results in them being useless Perks which cannot really be buffed.
(Aside from adding second effects like OP mentioned, but even then, they are bad)

There's a difference between "design a challenge that requires you to use No Mither" and "design a challenge that requires you to escape with No Mither and no other perks."
It could just have easily been "pick yourself up from the dying state while using the perk No Mither" or "evade an attack while running the perk No Mither"
Both Challenges you mentioned would be far more interesting.

@TAG said:
So the system is completely changed, from what I understand.
I'm not going to lie, this new system is difficult for me to understand (though the numbers you put forward seem to suggest that it is indeed a buff?). It SOUNDS to me like the Pig starts with 12 total searches (assume basekit) and the game will randomly distribute those 12 searches between the four Traps as she slaps them on the Survivors, since you say that all four traps being removed means that the Survivors did a combined total of 12 searches. What determines how many searches is assigned to a Trap?
It is 100% a Buff. And not hard to understand IMO.
The RNG got removed on the Pigs Side. Instead of having something between 4 to 16 searches, it is a flat 12 Searches for all Traps. While this means that you cannot get the "best case" anymore of every Survivor having to search 4 Boxes each, you also cannot get the worst case anymore, which means that every Survivor would get rid of their Trap at the first Box.
Furthermore, if you get unlucky and a Survivor removes their Trap on the first Box, you know for sure that the other Survivors will take a long time, because there are 11 searches left, which means that there will be two Survivors who have to search 4 Boxes and one Survivor who will have to search 3 Boxes.
-
Thats nice. Removing some of the RNG on the side of the Pig-player is a good thing and was asked for by a bunch of people.
Thanks for clarifying this!

She needs skill to play when I first started learning her I couldn't land any hits and got bullied for endless matches till I mastered her lol but I still suck she's tricky to play.
Would disagree.
She has a step learning curve, but once you get used to her Blinks, she is pretty easy to play. Her difficulty is really exaggerated. And so is her Skill Ceiling, there are many Killers in the game who are weaker than her but have a higher Skill Ceiling (Blight, Billy, Huntress, just to name a few).

Thanks, Cashel.
I do wonder with the expected Prestige rework releasing in a couple of months, if saving bloodpoints like this makes a difference at all anymore? When I purchase new characters, everything will be unlocked instantly.
You still need to get the new Characters to P3 for their Perks and also you need to do Bloodwebs for the general Perks on them.
BPs are not super-important anymore, but they still have some purpose for those who have completed everything else.

Am I the only one that enjoys the challenges from the Tomes? Like, it is called a ‘challenge’ for a reason.
Or let’s start a petition to call them ‘slight inconveniences’ from now on so we can avoid anything remotely difficult.
I am the last person complaining about actual challenges. But IMO running ONLY No MIther is too much. Because when using No Mither, you need good Perks to compensate for the Downside of being broken and never being left on the ground.
But if a challenge exists which only allows No Mither to be used, the Killer will know that and does not have to respect any DS or DH or other Perks.

Your opinion is noted, however Predator does not provide something as powerful as being able to pick yourself up off ground like No Mither.
I see people run No Mither, I had a 4 man all No Mither this week. I was only saying both sides are asked to run trash perks for these tomes. You can disagree thats fine
"as powerful as being able to pick yourself up"...
Yeah, this will totally happen that a Killer slugs you, when you have the big "DONT SLUG ME PLS"-Sign next to your Icon and a Challenge is in the Tome which makes it impossible to use any other Perks (like DS, Power Struggle or whatever).
Such powerful, much wow.
-
@DrDeepwound said:
Many of the killer tomes ask you to run perks I would never run.... Predator tomes, Coup De Grace tomes etc,... effectively throwing the match.
Its only fair.
Running one Perk or maybe a Set of 3 is hugely different from just running the worst Survivor Perk-only.
-
I mean, just play the game and you will get it eventually. It is one of those Achievements, not one where you really should play actively to get it.
-
Ok, this is the biggest effort to misinterpret the Data provided by BHVR I have ever seen.
Just accept it, CoH is not "in every game" as many claim.
-
You can stop playing Killer, but at least stop opening Forum Posts as well.
This constant complaining is just too much. And most of the time the player behind the PC is the reason why they lose that many games. But for some reason, the DBD-Community (and this goes for both sides) is not able to reflect on their own mistakes. I am 100% sure that there are some players out there who never had the thought "Ok, maybe I did not play that well" and are instead blaming the game the whole time. (I know at least 1 vocal streamer is like that, so there will be more of those)
-
At this point, you are just a point-provider for the Killer.
Often enough, if the Killer tunnels someone out early, you are already a point-provider, a 3v1 at anything more than 2 Gens (and even then it will be very hard) is unwinnable if there is not a huge Skill Gap between Killer and Survivors. And at this point, playing is basically pointless, at least when you want to escape.
75% Winrate sounds like this would be the case for 4v1s as well... So the case of being a point provider if the Killer tunnels someone out early would be way more common.
-
Ok. Thanks for letting us know.
-
Exactly.
The only thing to do after the Chapter dropped is to bring Haddie and The Dredge to P3. And if the Grind-Reduction drops, you can just get the remaining Perks (the general Perks and the Perks from the Character itself) and dont have to get all the other Perks which you have already unocked.
And you wont need to get the new Perks on all of the Characters, because once the Grind Reduction is here, you will have some automatically.
So 0 point in investing more BPs than needed to bring Haddie and The Dredge to P3.
-
I would just remove Speed Add Ons aka make them do something entirely different. Adding a huge fatique to them would make them pretty uncomfortable to use. I dont run Add Ons on Blight, but I would not run the Speed Add Ons if I really have like 2 seconds fatique after using all my Rushes.
-
"They look like Horror Characters"... Are you my grandma?
I am also not really sure if Slipknot are even interested to appear as Killers in a videogame, considering the band has some history with accusations that their music was a (or the) reason for some shootings which happened in the past.
-
Not sure to be honest.
After they announced the changes to the Grind, I am not really in need for Bloodpoints anymore. All Survivors are P3-50 with all Perks and all Killers are P3-50 with all Perks, EXCEPT for Sadako and Hag (she is missing Sadakos Perks).
And I dont really see me putting so many points in Sadako for Perks I will get for free once they roll in the changes. So currently, I dont know what to do with my Bloodpoints, except for stockpiling some Add Ons or Items.
-
Should be obvious that the Killer who does not even need Perks should be nerfed.
But will never happen.
-
That is the most neutral here. I dont really hate her or think she is "meh", but I would also say that she is not a Character I will play often.

Any idea if the pick rates are per game or per survivor?
Reason I'm asking is that there's usually only 1/2 per game, so the pick rate would be leagues lower if it's per survivor.
I dont think it is per game. Because I very rarely see games without at least 1 Dead Hard, so the 70% for DH would be quite low, if it would be per game.
-
@[Deleted User] said:

I find slugging is a terrible tactic.
Why? When it comes to Map Pressure, it is the same as a Hook - two Survivors are unable to do Gens (the one on the ground and the one who needs to pick them up).
