  • Sadly none of the mods nor community managers answered on this.

  • I dont see why this should be considered "thread spam". Ou are just an active member of the DBD forums. Dont worry. If you have fun continuing the series, then go for it.

Now my opinion on MYC: I think its a pretty decent perk but I dont see a big advantage for killers without map pressure. Instead of going for another survivor on the other side of the map I have to go back to the hook again and search the one who unhooked. This takes mostly more time than finding another survivor with BBQ on the other side of the map.

I think it works pretty good with Hag or Wraith.

But to be honest I dont use MYC on any killer right now, in my opinion there are perks which fit better to the powers of the killers.

    Have a nice day.

@Atchoo I just don’t see how current or future Ruin is impacting the ability to get in a match.

At best the only thing I can assume from your graph is that killers affected by gen speed cannot proceed to rank up, which if that’s the case it’s a totally absurd statement.

Im not saying there is no point where you can get gen rushed, but I don’t personally find this to be a reason to not be able to find a match. It has to do with the game not wanting to pair me up with someone below my rank until it really has to.

I did not say Ruin is the reason why it takes so long to get a lobby. Im pretty sure its a mixture of all those points above which currently lead to an imbalance (at least in red ranks).

  • @Dr_Trauts said:

Ive recorded data from my last hundred or so survivor games and ive got much different results than you. so im guessing it depends on region a lot as well as rank (as many of my games are a mixture of red/purple ranks), for example Nurse was my lowest killer, only facing 1 nurse in a little over 100 matches

Tbh none of those nurses got more than a single kill. I assume many people tried out the new nurse.

  • Ooops. I simply forgot Wraith. I edited the stat. Sorry ^^

I am rank 1 survivor and killer. I am an ace and Ash main and my survivor sightings probably are pretty close in line with yours.

I dont think the popularity of survivors varies over the ranks. Though, I think killers population varies depending on the rank.

    @Atchoo

I think that has to do with the Matchmaking System, not Ruin or Gen Speeds.

I mentioned the matchmaking system aswell. It is of course also part of this issue. But its definitely not the main nor the only reason.

  • @goat10em said:

The elephant in the room is the fact that as a survivor it takes twice as long to find a game as it does to play one

No, this is the result of the problems above. Why do you think survivors on certain ranks have to wait this long? I think its pretty obvious.

  • I dont think Ruin and the gen speed are the only factors we have to think about. There are way more problems which lead to this discussion.

    @Atchoo said:

Right now there is a big discussion about the upcoming change of Ruin and this goes hand in hand with the current debate about the gen speed/match length. I think this discussion is necessary but I think most discussions neglect there are way more problems which influence the current discussions which lead to survivor biased or killer biased argumentations or toxic behavior.

Those are the problems and connections I see right now. I do not claim this is correct nor do I think its a full list of problems which have a direct or indirect impact on the current debate about Ruin and Gen speed.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/497/GCOK98MXOKYC.png

What do you think about these problems? Do you have an idea how the devs could adress these problems better than they do right now?

I think changing Ruin or the gen speed alone wont lead to a more balanced game.

  • I tested the combination of Better together and Prove thyself as a solo survivor on rank 1. Not a single killer got a kill within 10 games and none of the games was longer than 6 or at max 7 minutes. Come on, dont tell me gen speed isnt a problem. ^^

  • I think they did not thought about the change. There are way more issues they have to keep in mind to balance the game. And I am talking about a fair balance between survs and killers. RIght now the changes are ridiculous.

I tried to sum up the problem here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/119866/ruin-gen-speed-adressing-the-elephant-in-the-room#latest

It's honestly fascinating how people have such different experiences. I can't tell you the last time I went against a huntress. Seems like all I see is freddy, ghost, wraith, and trapper anymore. Which the trapper really puzzles me. I've gone against more trappers in the last 2 months than I have in probably the previous 6 months.

Yes, maybe it really depends on region and rank. On which rank do you usually play?

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

Are some grouped together because you had the same number of matches of each?

Thanks for sharing though, quite interesting. Seems Ghostface has died down quite a bit. Huntress never stops being popular though huh :P

Some killers share the same "rank" since I versed them the same amount of matches. Eg. there were 12 Nurses, 12 Onis, 12 Trappers and 12 Hillybillys.

Laurie and Bill were played 17 times each (so in total 34 times)

  • @beatddb said:

I see my main Huntress is leading there... hope her popularity doesn't gets her nerfed

As stated above these stats are based on my personal games - so I dont claim them to be valid for every red rank player. There is a slight chance that someone else has totally different results.

  • @Atchoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/983979#Comment_983979

I had 140 survivor matches which were used as sample for the killer popularity. When I play survivor there are still 3 more survivors in my lobby. I did not include the survivors I played in the stats since this would distort the results.

Furthermore, I played a decent amount of killer games. Of course those matches do not contribute to the killer popularity and only to the survivor popularity.

In total there were 776 random red ranked survivors and 140 random red ranked killers.

But I dont get why you want to divide the numbers by 4.

Just an example: There were 156 random Claudettes in all matches. There was a total of 776 random survivors. So 20.1% of all random survivors played Claudette. You have 3 to 4 survivors in your lobby (depends on whether you play solo survivor or killer). So there is a chance of 20.1% * 4 = 80.4% that there is at least one Claudette in your lobby. The chance for 2 Claudettes would be 4.04% etc.

but i don't understant the killer is when you are playing survivor and the survivor when you are playing killer ?

if so shouldn't you divide the number of survivor by 4 ?

LUL, im pretty sure most of the Claudettes were indeed Blendettes ^^

  • @Adeloo said:

where di you got those stats ? it's personnal stats ?

Yes it is based on my personal games as killer and survivor. I do not claim that the stats are statistically significant.

  • @AshleyWB said:

4/776 survivors playing Ash. Now that is embarrassing. They need to rework him because his perks are so uninspired and worthless.

Yes I barely saw Ash at all. I am not suprised that the survivors who can only be obtained with real money are ranked this low in the stat but 0.5% is very low.

  • I think they concentrate on survivors who are played the most since they have the biggest potential to generate sales.

I made a stat (https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/119274/stats-killer-survivor-popularity-in-red-ranks#latest) on survivor popularity (in red ranks) and only 1.5% of those players chose Adam. I guess this is one possible explanation why he did not get more outfits yet.

I hope he gets some love in the future.

  • The DS skillcheck already feels like its as big as half of the screen. So I dont think there would be a difference. :D

  • 1 Doctor in 140 matches. What is your opinion on the changes to The Doctor in the PTB?

  • The rift closes in an hour (thats what my game says). Thank you for the answer.

  • @Snapshot said:

What will the next "frustrating" thing be? That killers can break Pallets??

    • Insta chainsaw Billy
    • One shot Huntress
    • Devour Hope
    • Noed
    • ...

I have already seen those complaints...no joke

  • @Thanatos_x said:

It'll be fun, all the survivor mains will have a much more fun time playing against this killer when they're even worse! Let's even add a longer cooldown on shock therapy so that it's even less viable at loops! Right then.

Thank you devs, very cool. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how my main does from now on or if rank 20 survivor main complaints actually made him lower tier than he already was. Guess Ruin will be a must have on Doc from now on... Oh wait

I saw one Doctor within 140 (!) matches in red ranks. Now there will be 0.

I really enjoy playing as Doctor. I thought he needed a slight buff instead. He is not this rare because he is "unfun" to play against, he is too weak for high rank gameplays.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/979622#Comment_979622

I agree with you in general. I think the map looks amazing, but I'm not too impressed with Ruin, to put it mildly, and I have mixed feelings about the Doctor. Some things about his new power, like the Static Blast, I really like, but other things like the cooldown and the Snap Out Of It changes I'm not really a fan of.

Yes, thats basically my opinion aswell. I feel like this PTB is based on the opinion of rank 15-20 survivors. I have no problem with Ruin at all, I feel like its necessary as killer in red ranks. Most of the time it gets destroyed within seconds or a minute.

If they really want to change Ruin like this, I would like to see a change to the objectives etc. If every survivor sits on a gen alone, 3 gens will pop within 80-100 seconds. Not every killer has the ability to put pressure on multiple survivors at one time. And I dont see a reason why survivors shoud stop working on a gen and go for a safe etc. They will rush through gens and then save their mates instead.

  • I think the new treatment theater map looks stunning. Whoever worked on the design, did a great job.

The ruin changes are absolutely ridiculous, I think I dont have to elaborate why since it is self-explanatory (gen speed, hex as late game perk LUL etc)

I think the docs cooldown between a shock and an attack shouldnt be a thing, otherwise hes okay. I think he needed a slight buff instead (I have seen 1 Doctor in 140 games in red ranks, I think this says enough. He is not this rare because he is "unfun" to play against)

  • @Mistikus said:

this part is on devs community managers says what they are telling to them

Unfortunately, thats what I think aswell.

Lets hope @not_Queen, @PatBrutal or @Peanits or anyone can shed ligh on this situation. :)

  • I dont think we need more communication, I think we need more speific/transparent information. There is a lack of quality and not quantity. And I really doubt its the fault of community management, I think the problem comes from others.

  • Regarding the removal of the hex-status: I think they already stated that the hex aspect is necessary since the combination of Hex: Ruin and Surveillance would be overpowered.

In my opinion they should not touch Ruin at all since its mostly broken within 20-60 seconds in the game :D

  • All I ask for is more transperancy regarding the communication. "Soon" leaves a bitter taste because they already used it so often and disappointed the community over and over with it. It got better since not_queen started to work for BHVR but there is still potential for improvement. For example the support always says soon, no matter what you ask them.

  • I lost my skins in November, just a day or two after they decided to stop refunding those skins via support. Support said it will be part of an upcoming update since they already found a way to recognize players who earned those skins.

It would be great to see a short statement in the patch notes.

Lets hope we get an answer here. ^^

  • @xChrisx said:

I dont use ruin, try different perks/playstyle or u and other ppl will never learn how to play killer properly

You clearly do not play every killer on red ranks consistently, am I right?

I dont know what happened in the last time but it was kinda difficult to slow down the gen pressure at all (even WITH ruin): You cannot pressure 4 survivors at the same time if you do not slug nor have a base power which allows map pressure at all.

If you want to play "fair" and chase and hook a survivor, then leave and go for another one and so on: The match will be too short in most cases. Lets assume you need 45 seconds for a single hook and you hook every survivor 3 times, then you'll need at least a 9 minute game. And lets be honest, it is not always possible to down a survivor within 45 seconds (depending on the chosen kille and pallet spawns). Let me know how many games last 9 minutes or longer in red or purple ranks?

Most killers do not have any map pressure (except Oni, Hillybilly etc.). If you verse a decent rank 1-5 team, they will rush through gens within a few minutes. It has nothing to do with the skill of the killer player anymore. And its not even the fault of the survivors. Its a big balance issue and with the ruin changes the gen speed will become a bigger problem .

Charms(and skins) of the first tome will be available on the in-game shop around 6 months after said tome ended, likewise the charms of the 2nd tome!

Where did you get this information from? As far as I know charms will stay exclusive to those who participated in the rift.

  • I played 3 matches as killer today, in all of them there was a skeleton key. I played 3 survivor games and one included an ebony mori. Those offerings are used, its not that rare but I dont have a problem with them at all.

I have to agree with you when it comes to the behavior of players, some take the game way too serious and personal.

We need more games based on fun than on competitiveness

  • Im already done with the rift and I was not playing an enourmous amount of time. Finishing all the tome levels really helped and playing as killer and survivor gives another bonus of 300 (? i dont remember the xp bonus anymore :D).

Tbh in the beginning I thought it was impossible to get to 70 but it is definitely possible.

  • I like it the way it is rn. I use it as Freddy in combination with Pop goes the weasel and it pretty much slows down the game efficiently. I also use it as Ghostface to find the next survivor for a nice stalk. They mostly concentrate on the gen and dont expect ghostface to come to this certain gen to stalk^^

  • It depends. If the survivor got sandbagged, would have died due to potatoe teammates or if the match was exciting and fun - ofc, I dont see a reason why I shouldnt let the last one get out.

It really depends on my mood though.

  • Thank you both for your answers. Have a nice day!

Deathgarden gonna shut down at the end of the year tho.

Eiter the mask becomes available to everyone or not.

Adding more DG masks to dbd has the same chance as nothng happening.

Didnt they say they keep up the servers at least until the end of the year and as long as there are enough people to play together? 🤔

  • I used to play nurse a lot (Legacy 3 but not a typical slugging 1min gameplay). She was very strong, thats true. Her addons (especially the omega blink and 3+ blink combinations) needed a rework but touching her base power was a bad decision.

She lost her map pressure and in combination with the dedicated servers its frustrating to play her since many hits simply do not connect. If you do not use addons its hard to catch up to survivors on certain maps aswell (due to loss of sight, fatigue+blink cooldown in combination with slow movement speed etc)

She is definitely not the worst killer, still quite okay but all the people who say she is still S-tier do not play her consistenly on red ranks.

"I dont get why some people get mad about it - DbD needs another source of income."

DBD needs another source of income like I need a hole in the head. The game is not free, the 3-monthly DLCs are not free, and just from going into matches you can SEE that they're selling like hotcakes. Other games of similar quality manage to exist and have maintenance on the price of the Stranger Things DLC alone.

On top of that you have a paid cosmetics store which, again, you can see the profits of in game, and each outfit in there costs as much as some other games.

The rift is already an excessive addition to a game which constantly has its hand out for money already, and to build even more predatory practices into it by intentionally making the unpaid option punishing is frankly disgusting.

Its an economic decision, no company would decide to reward people who use the free pass in the same way like they reward people who use the paid pass. Everyone has the chance to get every cosmetic and you have the chance to get all your auric cells back if you decide to spend your money once for a pass.

Okay, reaching level 70 is not achievable for players who do not take part on the archive challenges or who do not play more than once a week. I also think the grinding takes too much time for normal players. But all the cosmetics will be in the store after a few months.

"DBD needs another source of income like I need a hole in the head. The game is not free, the 3-monthly DLCs are not free, and just from going into matches you can SEE that they're selling like hotcakes. Other games of similar quality manage to exist and have maintenance on the price of the Stranger Things DLC alone."

If a company plans to grow they need to increase their income. There is no company which wouldnt use every single chance to make money as long as their reputation towards their customers etc. does not get damaged.

"The rift is already an excessive addition to a game which constantly has its hand out for money already, and to build even more predatory practices into it by intentionally making the unpaid option punishing is frankly disgusting."

There are several sources of income, ok. - DLCs, cosmetic store, paid battle pass. None of those sources of income forces anyone to pay money.

    • DLCs: Every three months they release a DLC which does not cost the world. Noboddy has to buy it, everyone has the chance to unlock each character in the store with shards. (except license DLCs)
    • Cosmetic store: A lot of skins can be bought with shards except license cosmetics (i think this is self explanatory)
    • Battle pass: Two options, getting auric cells back if you play enough
  • @anarchy753 said:

I've bought the pass, so this isn't about me being salty, but it really needs to be said that the free option for the rift is laughably bad.

Go have a look at the last 3 pages of the rift. You know, the levels you could only reach through a RIDICULOUS amount of grinding. The free track gives 4 cosmetics. A Claudette head, a Trapper weapon, a BNP charm and an empathy charm.

The earlier levels aren't even much better, with only 11 items, and only seems fairer because they have the 'event' (lol) currency spread over it which would otherwise have been free in the event anyway.

THE change that I feel should really be intuitive; don't break sets over the free and paid tracks

Other than charms, the free track has 6 cosmetics; Claudette head, Nea torso, David pants, Huntress head, Hag weapon, Trapper weapon. Each of those is one piece from a set with the other 2 pieces locked in the paid section.

Since there are already a pile of recolours, and several unique sets within the paid side of the pass, would it not be nicer, and better thematically, to make those 6 cosmetics the two complete sets related to the current tome; Claudette's Lab Intern/Monday Morning, and Trapper's Marrow Miner/Good Son?

That would allow players to at least have some form of complete reward for doing all 70 levels of the pass, rather than 6 pieces of random scattered sets that don't fit with anything else and just basically put up a sign to say "good work, BUY THE PASS."

The team did not randomly choose cosmetics for the free and paid pass - its rather a strategic decision. How do you increase sales of the paid pass? If you seperate cosmetic sets you can motivate some players to buy the paid pass since they want to have the whole set. If you choose a complete set to be on the free pass people wont be as motivated to buy the paid pass since they already got their full set of cosmetics. Mixing up the cosmetics in the free and paid pass and focusing on the paid pass leads to more sales. The paid pass needs to be more attractive. I dont get why some people get mad about it - DbD needs another source of income.

not true. they aren't removing the bloodletting shirt which was behind a paywall, just like the meg/trapper mask.

"You bought the game Deathgarden and not the masks" - that will be the answer although in fact most people just wanted the DbD cosmetics. They promoted the masks as reward for people who own both games DbD and DG. They are free to lower the price of the game or to make it free. I doubt they will release new exclusive cosmetics since they wont compensate owners of former exclusive skins. The DbD cosmetics are a reason for players to get DG now since its free. I hope for the people who still play DG that the playerbase increases through this promotion. I dont play DG because I simply do not like it but some people do and if BHVR stops granting the meg masks to all owners of DbD and DG..well.. this would propably lead to less new players.
