What bothers me about the ruin changes is that it really only benefits the high mobile killers and when their pickrates increase because of it they'll get nerfs
Interesting view on this situation. Never thought about it this way but it makes sense. It might change the pick rate of killers as well.

I somehow doubt you go against the sweatiest, as if you did, you'd likely consistently depip from how fast the games go. However since you're such an all start then, why do you refuse to acknowledge the fact there's entire maps that can lose you the game if you don't play the top 28% of killers? Sounds like you're trying to toot your horn in avoidance of acknowledging there's an actual issue.
I have 7k hours in Dead by Daylight, I mainly play killer and I totally agree with you. If you verse efficient survivors, you wont have a chance as killer without map pressure. Its neither the fault of the survivors nor the fault of the killer - its a mixture of all the problems I mentioned in the beginning. If you get one or two not optimal survivors, the killer has a big advantage. Right now many killers have to wait for mistakes of survivors.
-
Okay, I have a decent amount of hours as every killer. So, you really think every killer can apply map pressure? Yikes.
-
I hope the waiting times become even worse, so finally anybody understands the reason why the waiting times are this long...
-
Writing "gg ez" or insults in after chat is just a childish move. Everyone with a common sense and an IQ higher than a bread knows that such a behavior is inappropriate. If you do so, this just means you are either very immature or not well educated.

I guess the only times people will see Doc now is during his archive challenges. RIP.
I loved playing Doctor and I did not have any problems with the rework BUT the snap put of it nerf is ridiculous. This makes his power almost useless. Why should I even start shocking anymore? Hes gonna be an M1 Killer without an effective power - Sad, I played him very often. Guess I wont touch him except for the challenges.
-
I dont have problems as Pig on rank 1. If you use her traps efficiently they slow down the game and give the Pig a decent amount of time to counter the gen pressure.
-
Survivor: Yui
Killer: Hillybilly, Demogorgon
-
Interesting opinion! I dont see Demogorgon in B-Tier, I kinda think he is a low C-Tier. And I dont see Nurse as SS-Tier anymore due to dedicated servers in combination with her rework and current double-stuns. She lost a lot of map pressure on big maps.
This is my current tier list, not that different to yours.

I think there are 3 skins coming with the upcoming Rift but I think the top is just a recolor.

To all the baby killers out there who are whining about the Ruin change, I think you are forgetting that it's a Hex totem. It's a TOTEM people!
Why are you complaining like it slowed down the entire match? "Oh poor me, I can't kill a single survivor without it, what will I ever do???"
In 80% of my survivor matches, the totem is broken in the first 30-60 sec. Now the killer lost their perk for the rest of the match, nothing, zip, nada.
I play killer as much as I do survivor. I stopped running Ruin about 4-5 months ago because of that exact reason, what good is Ruin if it's gone in a minute.
You can still moan about it if you want, but you do not know what you're moaning about.
If Ruin is that bad, then I ask myself why 80 % of all killers in red ranks use it and why Ruin gets a nerf without touching its Hex-status? According to your argument it should be buffed instead?

The maps dont have to he super small. The new springwood maps are around 140m, and you can definitely stealth on them. But there are several maps like rotten fields and mothers dwelling that are almost 180m.
If we could shrink them all to springwood size, they would be much more manageable without being to small.
Currently some of the big maps can take almost 40 seconds to walk across, which is half a gen just to patrol. Add in god windows and tons of super unmindgameable loops like those on Thompson house and Fractured Cowshed and the killer doesn't have a chance.
When you can see the killer during the whole loop there is no mindgame so its just looping mindlessly. The fun part of the game is either moonwalking the survivor or joking the killer and sneaking away, which are taken away on these loops.
You can have a couple but these maps have multiple of these loops plus strong tiles like the shack and cow tree. By the time killer is done being dizzy gens are done.
I'm not saying these maps are unwinnable, but they need some changes. Size is a good start and could really make the game more intense and fun again. Let's face it, sitting on gens is boring, we all play the game for the interaction. Either losing the killer or stealthing and not being seen.
I also think there is not enough interaction and variety, good points!

Theoretically it could be my secondary YT account which I exclusively use to upload console clips but in this case you're correct. I am most definitely not a streamer. I'm not even remotely interesting enough to stream given the fact I only play Bubba.
I dont think you have to justify yourself for your decision to hide your perks.

I havent looked at the channel. But why do you think it is your business? I think everyone can decide how he/she wants to create content. I think its everybody's own decision.

Cough... Nurse... Cough...
Please not. Nurse gameplay is not enjoyable at all and way too easy to counter as survivor.

I like how you hide your perks and add-ons, like you have found a secret combo and you fear somebody could steal it, it makes look dbd somewhat competitive.
Maybe he is a streamer and does not want to reveal his perks for stream snipers? Maybe he uses Noed or Blood Warden etc. which basically are counterable by survivors if they know his perks.

I think those two killers are not really comparable. They work in a different way. But its interesting whom people see as balanced. But I totally get why you think Hag is more balanced than Billy. In my opinion they both have (depending on their addons) a balanced gameplay mechanic.

Ohhh okay so it's an issue that's not consistent. I haven't noticed/experienced the sound issues named by @Seltas0208 which is why I was genuinely confused as to what people were even referring to as I often find survivors due to something as quiet as normal breathing sounds as seen in the clip.
I wonder if it's a platform specific issue, too. Everyone who seems to complain about sounds appears to be on PC but I could be wrong.
Yes, I do play on PC. Havent touched DBD on console for months. SO I cannot tell if its a plattform specific problem. Might be though.
-
Im a Hag main and I also think she is very balanced (if played efficiently). This does not mean that Billy is not balanced. I think those two killers are both in good spot and shouldnt be touched by the Devs.
-
I think there are more things we have to tke in consideration before we point at a single issue and make it responsible for a balance problem. But indeed, the Ruin change will have strong effects (at least thats what I imagine).
We discussed this issue here:
-
Might be bugged. I recommend reporting this bug to DbD.
-
They are not always gone - but the complains are valid. I sometimes notice that my injured survivor acts like I´ve equipped Iron Will. And as killer the footsteps of survivors close to you are not always hearable.
-
I am not so happy with the upcoming changes (yet). I think Ruin is not the main issue, there are way more problems which need to be fixed in combination.
I tried to visualize those connections between different game issues here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/119866/ruin-gen-speed-adressing-the-elephant-in-the-room#latest
-
I dont think reaching rank 1 should be rewarded. I am rank 1 every season since I started in 2016 and it was never hard. I think rewarding rank 1s would lead to more and more people trharding to get a pip and sooner or later most of the survivors and killers will be at high rank. This will result in long waiting times for every casual player.
-
@silverwolf4455 said:
The quickest solution to gen speeds is pressure. The devs obviously want killers to exert more pressure because they changed ruin from free pressure to earned pressure.
Problem is most maps are way to big and have to many super safe loops, including god windows. Until they shrink maps to a reasonable size and work on some of these loops, the game will be extremely survivor sided.
They keep balancing for newer players, because they just want to increase their player base. But balance should always be done for the top players in a game (red ranks). Otherwose just throw ranks out the window, why have them?
Thank you for your input.
Thats why I mentioned map pressure as an issue aswell. I totally agree with your statement, most killers do not have the tools to put pressure on (all) survivors. I hope they find another solution, I kinda like the map size, I do not want to play on very small maps, this would kill stealth gameplay.
-
@EZ5k said:
I wouldn't call it a discussion when it's the developers outright lying about why it was gutted

No matter how good you are as a killer, and no matter how often they nerf perks or something without fixing the bigger issue (map sizes, gen speeds) you'll always just be called a crying baby which is odd to me.
Survivors, most not all, know how unbalanced the game is for killers. They claim that its balanced and fair as it is. When they know its not. Huge maps, fast gen speeds, and certain killers lack of map pressure. They shouldn't have touched ruin or any type of slow down perk until they addressed the gen speed issue. Preferably fixing ruin and gen speed within the same patch so it'd be fair to both sides. "Oh just run "CI" its better anyway" if its better anyway and we all ruin CI guess what? it'll be nerfed because its "over used and survivors aren't have any fun with it" Which brings up another point for me, why are killers calling other killer mains babies or whatever because they run ruin?
"Oh i'm better than you because i don't use ruin its worthless anyway" okay, want a cookie? Some killers need it more than others. "I use Nurse or Hillbilly so ruin is useless" tell that to clown or trapper players.
I've been very vocal lately and ima keep being vocal about it cuz the devs treatment to make the game fair is ridiculous. Survivors get nerfed but killers get butchered and still have no response on gen speed or unfair map layouts. I don't hate the new ruin, to me the new ruin's only flaw is the totem. Get rid of the hex perk and make it just a regular perk.
Thank you for your input. I can totally understadnd why you feel this way. All those things you mentioned are responsible for a balance issue. I see it the same.
But in my opinion survivors and killers do have problems due to all those issues mentioned above. The devs really have to work on multiple things. Working on Ruin first might be a bad decision (at least thats what I think) but I am pretty sure they will see the consequences.

I know you didn't complain about it, but these have multiple issues to them imo
Using infantry belt with iri head is really broken imo, as you could miss the first hatchet for the one hit and get 2 more to hit them with, which really doesn't punish you for missing with iri head
Insta-saw billy has some major issues, being that it ends the chase really quick compared to M1 killers.
I totally get what you mean. Dont get me wrong, I understand your opinion. :)
In my opinion there is aa decent chance to escape against both killers with those addons. But I can totally understand when people say its not funny to verse such killers. I think there should be some very very strong addons in the game. The killer should be able to be the power role in a match and with such addons they will mostly be this role (except they really suck :D)

-Instasaw Billy
-One shot huntress

-
This would make a combination of 2 Hex perks very weak since survivors will find them, no matter what. The totem placements are not hard to find. It would definitely improve the changes to Ruin but I am not sure if such a change would be healthy for the game.

I also don't know why you care about survivors having fun. It's not your job to make it a fun game, it's your job to kill them. Maybe you are a nice person, but DBD is not a nice game.
You think some teabagging SWF with purple flashlights and OoO is out there for you to have fun?
If one side consistently does not have fun they will stop playing this side or at all. So yes, I do care about the fun of the game. This does not mean I have to give people the hatch etc. All I meant was I do not want to play nor verse a camping/slugging/tunneling high tier killer with ebony mori most of the games.

the pattern is that a killer is able to a̷̢̛̟ṕ̶͕͆p̵̹̍̊l̶͚̓͝y̶̙̋̔ ̵̤͒p̵̙̓͗ŗ̵͂e̶͈̚s̷̲̈͊s̴̝̗̀û̴̳̼͂r̵͎̓e̶̪̗͑ when survivors unable to properly loop exist, otherwise you'll just drop chase after chase.
The other solution is properly balanced maps, not too big, not too many safe pallets, not too many connected loops.
Yes, if you face a decent group which knows how to loop efficiently, it will become pretty tough for killers. A coordinated group will finish gens no matter how you chase them.
-
@Apple2o said:

A good killer is going to be dropping survivors left and right. Either by playing someone overpowered, or by actually using a good build on a regular killer.
Half the people complaining here are probably just tunneling some guy through god windows with an M1 killer, not knowing you could/should be running perks to cover those kinds of weaknesses.
The last 5-6 purple rank killers I faced all just tried to down me no matter the cost, even though I was prepared and in an extremely strong position. It usually costed them multiple generators to get a down. The last few red rank killers I faced all dropped those kinds of chases with 10-20 seconds and found better ones. Notice a pattern?
Im a rank 1 killer myself with 7000 hours. I know how to play killer efficiently. I dont have problems to kill people but depending on the variables above it is simply not possible to play a decent and fun match for all without frustrating survivors.
And if you face 4 very good survivors on a map with good spawns, you wont have the chance to protect gens and kill survivors as killer without mobility.
You brought up another important point: Map layout.
Thanks for the input!
-
@Apple2o said:
Go up against some rank 1-2 killers playing meta builds on killers like freddy or spirit, and you will be wishing you could rush the gens even faster.
Most killers who complain about gen rushing are just focusing one guy the entire match instead of spreading the damage, which is how you should be playing.
This is what gen rushing actually is, by the way:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/620/PAUQWHB7IKC1.png
Unless the survivors you are facing are rocking a build like this, you are probably just not applying enough pressure.
I wont support one side more than another. I love to play killer and survivor. Thats why I tried to summarize as many issues as possible.
Regarding the argument of map pressure: This simply does not work for all killers. Hillybilly, Freddy, Oni.. are killers who can apply map pressure. But if you get large maps as Trapper, Ghostface, Leatherface etc. its almost impossible to apply pressure on all survivors at once.
Dont get me wrong map pressure is an important point.
-
@thrawn3054 said:
Honestly gen speeds would solve most of those problems. The easiest way to solve this, in my opinion at least. Is require survivors to find something before they can start repairing gens. Like a tool belt or something. This would make sense. As how are you fixing gens without tools? It would also give survivors something to do. While giving the killers time to setup/get going.
Yes, thats what i meant with lack of objectives. I dont blame survivors for doing their objective. I mean if the killer does not chase them, why should they refuse to work on gens?

On a more serious note:
The only thing they wrote when the Ultra Rare exclusives were given to any player was that they found a way to restore the lost Event Exclusives to those who lost it.
However, afterwards there was no post about this. Given the fact that the Oni-Chapter introduced a lot of Bugs which are not all fixed yet AND the Holidays, most likely they did not have much time to restore the Cosmetics.
To be honest, I think this should be one of the Top Priorities. Yes, those are only Cosmetics, but people who lost them want them back and they said they found a way, so it should not take them ages to actually restore them.
Exactly!

I still have mine, but when others lost theirs there was certainly ways to refund Legacy as well as confirm if they earned Legacy or not. But the devs just didn't bother.
Even when there was 100% proof the player lost legit earned Legacy (say a streamer) the devs didnt bother.
If the devs didnt bother to refund Legacy, they aren't likely to refund anything else.
They stated that we will get ourevent skins back 100%. You can read the support answer here aswell: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/118347/still-no-event-cosmetics-in-ptb#latest

I did not lose my Legacy skins aswell.
The way they handled the loss of Legacy skins was kinda inconsistent. Some streamers lost their Legacy and got them back. I know some players also provided video proof, screenshots, achievement proof etc and they did not get them back. Another form of a two classed treatment between streamers and "normal" players.

When who that lost their Legacy get it back.
There is no option for the devs to verify who lost which Legacy skin. So I doubt they will give them back until they are able to isolate players with Legacy. I dont think the achievements will be enough.
Thats not my personal opinion on this topic, I think they should work on a solution but I doubt there will be any ever.
