you are "extremley pissed off" for me is it the best chase music in the whole game.

I changed to play legion a bit more often because his new chase music.

If you say GF needs a change, then i 100000% agree with you

I don't think the music is bad, but I literally can't hear anything else, literally.

I agree that the GF chase music needs a change too, but the devs stated in the 5.7.1 patch that they will be changing it.

I don't camp unless it's last kill, and tunneling only if the game seems like I'm against good survivors.

Quite a few people online when the DS changes went live said they'll switch to killer and camp/tunnel because it's no longer punished. I can see this being a popular boycott in return (by killers) and a few people online have said they'd do this. Plus, ive actually been against more tunnelers now than before (believe it or not) because of obsession means nothing now so some of those that did hold obsession as a means to not camp no longer do. Its had the opposite effect than that of what they wanted. Now everyone has to run DS as obsession means nothing now, so killers can just tunnel because one Ds used to have the same effect before, but it no longer is a means to be wary against Ds and so to stop them tunneling all 4 players 4 ds' will be needed. Before it meant they had to be wary, now since it's been implemented even less Ds (ikr, that's hard to believe) have been brought and the pattern will become apparent soon to almost every killer that people don't bring Ds because of this safety bubble and so will be free to tunnel almost every game.

You and I must be on two separate worlds, because 1) I've seen less tunneling, and 2) I've heard no one, NOT A SINGLE PERSON, say they don't like this change... except you, of coarse.

Idk what to say... maybe, in the virtual world, you're surrounded with people that are filled with hate and distortion. I don't want you to brush it off and say 'no, I'm definitely not' without considering it.

I try to fill my world with positivity and love, I'm proud to say I'm very happy and content.

I hope you have it to and if you ever need to talk, just say "hi".

Yeah idk why they did this. Probably to stop some of the camping (it'll only stop a little of it, in fact I know a lot of people will camp just because it's been implemented) so let's see how long it stays.

I think you meant " probably to stop some of the 'tunneling' ". People tunnel with no obs., not camp.

"I know a lot of people will camp just because it's been implemented"

Lol oh yeah? Who do you know that said, specifically, they would do that? Secondly, how many people is a lot?

I've been playing for around 3 years now and I don't know anyone, personally or online, that would do that or even say they would.

Is the change really so horrendous that someone would ruin their own enjoyment and that of other random people that have nothing to do with anything, really? I'm having a hard time believing that, I really am.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your speaking for yourself. I mean, we already know you absolutely disagreed with the idea, paragraph after paragraph, in multiple posts.

I think it's time to let this one go, my friend. The devs won't change it back and this moment, will fade away... gg

I've had this discussion before so I'll jump to the conclusion and give a brief overview.

The obsession is information, giving an obsession to the survivors for free removes information for the killer. This means that there has to be a trade off.

If you cannot balance the trade of (my opinion being able to have 2 survivors as obsessions ) and give information to the killer to replace this then I don't think it should occur.

Camping makes a killer lose, so to do this to make your life easier means that you have to give something In return.

I've debated this at length on another post, but I don't think you can balance it and still remove the disadvantage of less information for the killer by giving them an advantage, and this means you shouldn't do it.

In the 4.7.0 patch notes today.

    • Every trial will now start with an obsession, regardless of player loadouts.

Cross my feet, lean back in my chair, take a sip of some delicious lemon iced tea (sigh of enjoyment).

  • Ruin is not great on its own, so you have to bring undying. That means you only get two other perks and it's only effective if you're patrolling gens... when you should be getting downs and hooking survivors. After all that, it can still be taken away from you.... but hey, if you like ruin, run it.

Oh, to help anyone decide, ruin is better at lower ranks, but less effective at higher ranks.

  • @PeaceNGrease said:

You know what I love about these threads? Someone will always say playing the game is easy, then immediately contradict themselves by complaining that something not being in their favor will instantly make it not so.

Like if you're a good survivor, you aren't going to get tunneled out in 30 seconds (at least not nearly enough for it to be something to complain about.)

After all, if survivor is so easy you don't need a handicap of a perk, why are you upset about DS?

And if killer is so easy, why are the que times horrible for survivors at a specific time? Is it because all the good killers go to bed at 6:00? How are so many people even aware that this is a thing if they are playing killer at those times? I mean, it's not like THEY also want to play the less stressful role at night, before they go to bed....?

It can't be that.... Survivor is an inherently more casual, passive role in the game overall, right?

Are you commenting on the follow up posts or the OP?

I agree with both, they are not mutually exclusive. I play both killer and survivor equally before you play that bullshit "your a survivor main" card . Tunneling is sometimes necessary, I agree. But sometimes it's not, and it's not fun for the other side to be tunneled out of the game, as much as it's not fun to be genrushed (and I mean actual gen rushing, all gens before 3 mins are over (it is possible, and very annoying)). Both of these need something to stop them (and don't say they are already good enough on either side. My suggestion- add 30s base time to all gens, and make Ds (reworked one) base kit))

you know, that's actually not a bad idea, interesting food for thought.

Specifically, I mean the perk Decisive Strike shouldn't allocate an obsession until after it is used. Other perks can still make someone an obsession. The whole point is that Decisive shouldn't tell the killer someone has it before it is used. It should be a complete surprise that is meant to counter a tunneler. Instead, in its current state, it tells the killer to tunnel anyway, but leave them on the ground for a minute, because they know they didn't bring an obsession perk, so the survivor has DS. When a non-obsession survivor goes down back to back, the killer tends to immediately pick them up, not knowing they have DS.

Ahhh gotcha gotcha gotcha, okay, yes, I agree completely, that is a FANTASTIC IDEA!!

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1955860#Comment_1955860

There are many perks and addons that give a survivor the obsession. The only info an obsession gives right now, is that someone is running something related to obsessions. Which used to be massive information back in the day, but right now there are so many things that can give you an obsession that there isnt really any argument on not having it in a match. Especially considering obsessions gain extra bloodpoints, for no real reason.

Besides that, having an obsession in the match, gives a killer a reason to not tunnel regardless of there actually being DS in the match or not. If there are 0 obsessions, there is nothing holding a killer back from directly tunnelling off hook and rushing a kill before the first 2 gens popped. Considering killers like Spirit, Wraith, Freddy, Nurse and Deathslinger can essentially keep their TR outside the hook range, preventing BT from triggering, that is an instakill. That is 2016 style DBD and that style was nerfed heavily with the introduction of Laurie and Bill.

Essentially, the positives of having a standard obsession in the game heavily outweigh the negatives. It allows survivors to not run DS and run much weaker perks to have a little fun, without having to fear being tunneled out of the game within 2 minutes(especially considering matchmaking can last 15 minutes, its not fun for any player to wait 30 minutes only to have 2 matches that last 2 minutes, unless you want Old BNP back so that killers can face the same short matches again).

This is worded perfectly, you are very clearly an intelligent person, my hats off to you.

  • @Rizer said:

Can this game get any easier for killers or what? Pretty soon there won't be any survivors left for you casuals to kill.

πŸ˜‚ I know, right? The funny thing is, the prime time of the day when people get off work or home from school, there's actually a sizable lack of killer players, so BHVR really feels the need to make killer friendly changes in order to balance queue times.

  • @LittilAvindar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/228615/the-ds-change-looks-good-but

Personally, since stunning the killer with DS makes you the obsession, all that is needed is to not allocate an obsession until that happens. As it currently is, a player carrying DS will be the obsession at the start of the match, unless another survivor or killer obsession is also in play, and gives a chance to make someone else the obsession. Just make it so there is no dictated obsession until the killer gets hit with the stun. Killers don't need to know if a survivor has DS, because, as you said, if people don't run it and there's no obsession, it's tunnel season. This change would deter killers from tunneling simply because they don't see an obsession, without necessarily removing info a killer uses to determine other obsession perks, such as, by making a player the obsession every match, regardless. With the few survivor obsession perks that exist, I personally don't really see a need for the killer to have the info on whether they need to slug a survivor or tunnel them to death.

This is a pretty cool idea, I like it. Unfortunately, the killer obsession perks get in the way of this, so the devs probably won't consider this as an option, at least in our near future.

You went out of your way, forced yourself into a conversation between two other people, just to insult someone. • @ChurchofPig said:

I only have a problem with the 6 second stun duration because just because you know what one survivor is doing, that's 6 seconds other survivors are doing something. If there's 3 other survivors you didn't lose 6 seconds that you can easily gain back, you just lost up to 18 seconds of time (assuming there are 3 survivors left, all of which doing something). If those 3 survivors were on a single gen together, you just lost more than 18 seconds. If they were to increase the time, which there is no need too, I'd live with it. I just don't think it's the best idea mathematically. You might know how far the one you're chasing is, but you don't know about the others (if there are others left).

True, but with current DS you already lose 5 sec. So with what you're saying, a 6 sec. stun would only add 3 more seconds.

Not to mention, with new DS, you'll never get DSed, unless you are trying reeeally hard to tunnel AND the survivor has to have DS. It's gonna be rare, I think.

  • Jesus Christ, everyone got off topic, but it's fine because nothing we say here is going to be taken seriously in changing the game anyways.

So go nuts everyone... HEY! I think the next killer should be a big egg monster that eats DS for her breakfast and her TR music can go like, yum yum yum yum yum yum yummmmmy....

A strawman, really. I don't like tunneling, I only do it when someone is toxic or I feel the need to win. I said it was a viable strategy. Also, what rank are you? Tunneling and slugging are common in red ranks, again backing up that you are either bad at the game or haven't played for a long time

Shows what little you know, good killers know WHEN to slug and don't need to tunnel. Bad killers feel like they HAVE to tunnel.

"what rank are you?" reeeeally shows what little you know πŸ˜‚ After four thousand hours, you'll learn rank doesn't mean sh*t, bud, do you really not know that? HELLO? this is Dbd we're talking about here.

If the Perk does the same thing in regards to anti-tunnel, and the only change is you can't use it to work objectives in the Killer's face, then there is not significant change to the Perk. The only people abusing it to work objectives in the Killer's face were coordinated SWF. The same people who took it for anti-tunnel before, will continue to take it. The only difference is we might not see SWF with all four carrying DS anymore. Good riddance.

    Nicely put, I agree.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1957931#Comment_1957931

I was simplifying it for you but if you want me to just say it. It's entitled to believe you should get free information for nothing. To push this narrative that it's not a disadvantage to see a killer in every game is ridiculous. Tunneling is a viable strategy, and one that's just playing optimally. In game sense it's the same as just sitting on a gen rather than just going around and 33% every gen. It's also sometimes necessary- keys when there is only a few gens left, or someone who knows what they are doing and if left alive will screw the game over (you can usually tell what type of player they are when starting a chase) so sometimes tunneling is the most optimum way to win a game (sometimes it's secures a 2-4k but usually a 3k). Removing the option to play like that without slugging (which can be countered by UB or Just worked around by healing them) is a massive thing. Your entitled nature shows in the way you have approached this as you don't seem to think over any view opposing your own. If you don't want to play to win, then that's fine. But a disadvantage of not being able to tell if there is Ds in a game is huge- this may not be chess but it's a game where you need to use strategy to win and one of the ways to determine how to play is with the information given. Your comment suggests your either not good at the game in general, or just haven't played for long enough.

Finally , what would your idea be for a trade off. I know you just want to pivot every point but I'm here for serious discussions about the way this game should go, so what would you suggest the trade off be?

Okay, I get you now, you like tunneling... okay well there's no discussion to be had with you then. I don't think tunneling survivors is fun and I get my 4k's without having to do that "strategy", you see. Good day sir.

  • @Mugombo said:

But now it’s a pointless perk in most games. Tunneling is quite common, I see it in probably about 20-30% of red rank games as a survivor. But that’s 20-30% tunnelling happening to β€˜a’ survivor, to me personally it probably happens 10% of games. That means with the new DS, bringing it does nothing at all for 90% of games.

Then you decide not to bring it because it does nothing, so there’s no obsession in the game, and shock you get tunnelled because the killer sees it. It will become quite a pointless perk most of the time

THANK YOU, you get my point exactly. ^ THIS everyone, THIS ^

Nope, definitely a nope from me.

I already don't run ds so I won't miss it nor would I need it, if the killer tunnels me then I'm fine with that.

Let's be honest, how many nurses do you still see?

    Not much I believe.

And 20m is more than enough to get at a safely to get to a safe loop.

To correct your math a bit, that is 20m as soon as you are able to move as killer again.

So by the time he catch up, you could almost be on the opposite side of the map (not the big one's)

So 5s is more than enough, be grateful that they nerfed enduring so it doesn't reduce the ds stun anymore.

Let's see.. at rank 1 with 4k hours, you better believe I see quite a few Nurses, I'll tell you what lol

"almost be on the opposite side of the map" πŸ˜‚ yeah, bro, it's reeeealy obvious that you do NOT run DS, cause that statement is faaaar outside of reality lol

Also, the funny thing is around 95% of the time, I don't run DS either. I'm not worried about me, I do fine in chase, but even RIGHT NOW when there is no obsession in the match, killers tunnel the living heck out of everyone, not fun.

This is just a simple suggestion to a simple problem.

@Ivaldi if you are any rank above green, a 2k is all you can secure with camping.on top of this the killer often depips due to the fact you haven't done anything else in the game so lack points in the other 3 categories. In lower tanks where people don't know how to combat this correctly, yes it will be a problem and will lead to a loss. But that does not make it that camping is op, just that people don't tend to play around it.

@then4321 people take note, this is the biggest pivot I've seen in my life. I was sober and had collected my thoughts but if it was too much for you to understand, let me rephrase it in an easier light for you. To give an obsession every game would be taking away information from the killer, so to offset the disadvantage of not having said information, they need to give something to the killer. This is not balancing, it's just life style changes in dbd. Therefore it's not a necessary change. If you want this, you need some downside to it. My suggestion on other sites is that there should be a max 2 obsessions, but that didn't seem reasonable. Therefore, this change shouldn't happen, as you cannot perform a fair trade off.

lol "I was sober" uhhh, look up the definition of soberly, you thinking I was referring to inebriation is hysterical 🀣

Oh, and "disadvantage of not having said information..." you are WAY over thinking things. Dbd isn't chess, buddy, mmkay?

Of course you're two obsessions idea doesn't seem reasonable, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE! Driving my point exactly, thanks.

I've literally commented as to why filling the Free Track would even be a good design decision. It's not greedy rewarding your playerbase for engaging with a mechanic. Greedy is them making the Free Track so barren that you are forced to buy the premium track to feel you got something out of it.

Neither I, nor everybody who agrees with me, is greedy for asking that the Free Track be populated with simple things, like BP or Shards. Greedy would be if we asked that the Free Track contained a bunch of rare or even legendary cosmetics. Bloodpoints and iri shards are far from being a tall ask.

I agree ----> "Greedy would be if we asked that the Free Track contained a bunch of rare or even legendary cosmetics." yes this would also be greedy.

Now lets look at the language you used here ----> "forced to buy the premium track"... The fact that you chose these words is very troubling. You need to walk back what you said and go talk to someone who's actually been forced to do something against their will before you start spouting of nonsense like this, sounding childish and ignorant.

  • @CashelP14 said:

I think if there's always an obsession tunnelling killers will always take the risk of DS.

Whereas if some old perks were made into obsession perks I feel like the fear of DS still holds. My idea was to make either Borrowed Time or Unbreakable an obsession perk.

Unbreakable - works the same as normal except when you pick yourself up you become the obsession and reveal your aura for 3 seconds.

Borrowed Time - works the same as normal except if your the obsession you unhook survivors 50% faster.

This is interesting. This would also, pretty much guaranty that there is an obsession every match, so why not just go ahead and make someone the obsession every match anyways, you know?

  • @ilovedbd123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/228615/the-ds-change-looks-good-but

Also if you increase the stun, again a massive thing ( 2 seconds or more=10m for finding a decent loop) then you need to give something, because that's unnecessary. What would you suggest, because I can't think of anything. My suggestion would be increase the stun to 7 seconds, make the skill check slightly more difficult and if they miss they lose some time on the hook.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Obsession in every game - yes. Should also not be a problem with the Changes for DS, except the Killer wants to tunnel of course. But since you cannot progress any Objectives anymore after the change (Killers like to call it a "true anti-tunnel perk" at this point, even if it isnt), there is not really a problem to "fear" DS.

Regarding a longer stun - no. It is indeed a problem that Killers like Nurse or Spirit dont care at all for the Stun, which is bad that the strongest Killers are not that much affected by DS. However, increasing the Stun would also make it more difficult for Killers like Trapper.

I would rather remove all Scratchmarks and Bloodtrails during the 5 second Stun-Duration. This would also mean that a Killer like Nurse has to locate the Survivor before going after them.

    @chadbeastofprey said:

i do agree with the obsession every game thing but i disagree with the stun duration.

Because you can still get tunneled. That you get slugged for the minute or chased for the minute does not mean that you did not get tunneled, just because the DS ran out. Something like increasing the timer would be an option here. Thats my only issue, I dont want to be back on the hook after chased for a minute, yes, the Killers time was wasted, but that does not really change the fact that the Survivor did not do anything else than getting tunneled.

Regarding the Stun, like I said, it is a problem that the strongest Killers are not really affected by it, but changing the Stun Duration would not be a good option. Especially since OPs 1 extra second would do nothing against a Nurse, it would have need to be like 10 second stun, but this is not reasonable at all.

I understand the concern about increasing the stun duration, but it sounds like you're still thinking about current DS, let me explain.

Think of the new DS, it is a true anti-tunnel perk. The killer will ONLY get DSed from actually tunneling, and rightfully should be punished. Simply, risk for reward.

In this aspect, as a killer, if you don't tunnel, you will never see DS again, think about that. If you still wish to tunnel AND the survivor has the perk equipped, you take a hard hit.

What? I don't think asking for the free track to have more stuff, even something as simple as BP or shards, is really greedy. I paid for this game, for every DLC, bought a bunch of auric cells, bought a bunch of cosmetics. The least they can do is make the free track seem worth it.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Personally, I find that making the Free Track contain so little just makes people less interested in engaging with it at all. Which means they play the game less. But, if the Free Track now suddenly is filled to the brim with things, people feel encouraged to actually play the game to unlock tiers. Which, if they unlock enough, might make them go "you know what, I already unlocked so much of the Rift, might as well buy the Premium Track"

I've bought a bunch of stuff to, but BHVR didn't twist our arms and makes us buy anything, that was our choice and we got what we paid for.

So, yes, I think asking for more than what I paid for is greedy.

The base game + all the DLC's (not including the soundtrack or cosmetics) is $147. I've spent nearly 4,000 hours playing this game. 4,000 divided by 147 comes to about 27. That means, for each $1 I spent on this game, I've gotten 27 hours worth of entertainment.

    Worth every penny.

    144 would be Wrecker's Yard.

    Azarov's is 176.

    Mother's Dwelling is 188.

Wrong, read it again, that's the SQUARE tiles (total area), not length.

Each tile is 16m, Azarov's resting place has the longest length at 9 tiles long. 9 x 16 = 144m, wall to wall.

Killers who move at 4.4 m/s take 42.7 seconds to cross the map. Combine that with the animation of kicking a generator and you've hit about 46 seconds.

Two survivors on a gen is 47 seconds. Throw in great skill-checks, Prove Thyself, and toolboxes, and the gen will pop before you can even cross the map.

First, I just want to say, I don't think pop needs a nerf, it's perfectly fine.

I just want to point out the math here. 4.4 m/s x 42.7 sec. = 187.88 m . . . There isn't a single map in dbd that has that length, not from wall to wall, let alone from a hook to a gen.

Azarov's resting place has the greatest length at 144 m, that divided by 4.4 m/s is only 32.72 sec. and that's from wall to wall. Realistically, from the furthest hook to the gen on the other side of the map is even shorter in length.

  • The thing is, the "Paid" track, isn't really paid. It's free as long as you get to lvl 70, which is reeeeaaaally easy. BHVR is already giving you a lot free stuff as long as you put in the time. Greedy give me more it's mine I deserve it culture...

  • yep, and breakable walls that slow down killers from getting to a gen that's being worked on....

I want to start of by saying the map The Game looks fantastic now. The new lighting and textures really do wonders. Great work to everyone who worked on making the map look so good.

The actual layout/gameplay is a different matter, unfortunately. When I played on the PTB, it seemed fine and generally inoffensive. However, now that I've had more chances to play on it, there are definitely issues with it. The way it is now is, in a word, boring. There are so many loops that are absurdly long and safe. Pretty much every loop is a safe loop now, with a disturbing amount of pallets the MUST be broken to go a certain way. I always thought that one pallet by the staircase on Midwich was dumb, and now there's so many on the same tier. This is what makes The Game so boring to play on now. For killers that lack projectile or ranged attacks, there are no mindgames to be had whatsoever. You just run around a loop for 10 seconds, try to not get a pallet slammed in your face when you get close and then kick it when it's thrown. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. And I believe the devs said that one of the points of this rework was to make it easier to get from one floor to another. From my experience, this didn't actually get any better. And the breakable walls were very poorly implemented into this map. They worked on maps like Dead Dawg Saloon, because the way they were set up, you could make a strategic choice when it comes to breaking certain walls: you could make the loop potentially shorter for you, but also for the survivor. Same goes for Midwich. This is not what happened in The Game. The breakable walls just make it more difficult to patrol the map, making them more of a chore to deal with than something to base strategy around.

Those are the points that I wanted to make that I feel would be rather unbiased. But I do have one point I'd like to make that is definitely biased. It kinda pisses me off that the devs took one of the few maps that you could call heavily killer sided and turned it into the largest collection of safe loops in dead by daylight. I used to be relatively excited to go to this map, now I just dread watching it pop up. At least some of the other survivor sided maps in the game there were still mind games to be had, and you could pull off some fun maneuvers in an attempt to catch people off guard. But on The Game, you just hold W.

TLDR: The Game looks fantastic now, but the rework itself was very poorly executed, making it more of a chore than a challenge.

I agree with this 12000%, couldn't have said it any better. Also hook spawns are pretty jank.

I play both killer and survivor. I prefer survivor, but I play more killer, because of long survivor queues.

  • My ping is always in the 30-40's and I still get hits from Mars with VPN killers.

It should either be removed or not. But giving the player the choice to activate it or not shouldn't be a thing.

    This.

I do agree that aim dressing is reeeeeeaaaally annoying, I hate it, but they would never add an option to choose if you want it on or off. They'll just turn it off when they get better servers.

  • I stopped running DS about 6 months ago.

First: I've become A LOT better as survivor, because I don't play like I have a "get out of jail free" card.

Second: If I get tunneled, big deal... move on to the next match.

  • uhhhh can a mod please move this to general discussions please and thank you <3

  • turn your camera 90*, problem solved, derp f_ckin DERP

I play stealth killers too and I get a SH*T ton of hits by just not facing where they are BECAUSE their SC isn't lit up

disagree = boomer that just wants everything handed to them... use your head or get left in the dust.

  • Consolidating information to an area is more effective than having to look all around and all you gain is a tiny bit more information.

  • Having 3,500 hours invested in this game, I understand all factors you stated. However, none of these were/are the case.

I'm going to make this VERY clear.... --------> before the recent flashlight changes, I've NEVER had saves like THIS happen <--------

    Is that clear?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm pretty sure this is just latency at work.

Nope, everyone in the match was at 60 ping or lower, I checked.

  • YO BHVR, can you please, for the love of goodness sake, purchase more servers in more areas? it's 2021, come ooon.... do us a solid, k?

  • There are A LOT of rough edges on pretty much every map. Invisible collision on loops, basement stairs, ect. that killers and survivors get snagged on, these must be smoothed out. Portals, traps, and snare placements need to be more forgiving. Nurse blinks and demo shreds on certain maps should be addressed.

Honestly, skip the new stuff for a bit and polish up everything we have now. It's frustrating to keep running into these issues, more than not getting something new.

  • I play survivor and killer equality.

I think hatch is fine, I just wish that the hatch spawn to the amount of gens done/survivors alive was bumped up.

    Right now, it's 4 alive / 0 gens left, 3 alive / 1 gen left, 2 alive / 2 gens left.

I'd be more satisfied if it was, 4 alive / no hatch, 3 alive / 0 gens left, 2 alive / 1 gen left.
