Didn't you get the memo? Survivor players think they should be able to tie up the killer for the entire match and never die while their three teammates open the exit for them. It's been like this for years and BHVR has catered to it in many ways.

To be fair, I don't really get that from the OP at all. They're not complaining that killer stopped chasing them or even that they were downed. It sounds to me like they're upset that once a chase starts, it ends too quickly without as many opportunities to get away. Essentially meaning that once you're found, there's no reason to run (other than potentially distracting the killer for a few seconds). Laceration time was nerfed, sure, but that only seems to have encouraged the problem with killer having to be more aggressive to get a down.

Judging by recent trends, I don't see how survivors are being specifically catered to. Especially with something like the RE chapter where survivors got new perks that encourage them to maximize (solo) gen repair time and another type of anti-chase killer that made vaults much less worthwhile to pull off. It sounds like they neglected two problems everyone complains about: genrushing and boring chases.

tl;dr everyone's boned and people are over here feeling sorry for themselves.

It’s just a game, some of you take it too seriously. It’s incredible how distraught many of you are over keys in this game

Honestly this. I can understand people talking about ways to add better synergy to the game but a lot of this stuff tends to reek of "I had a bad match, devs change the game" and when a change comes along "devs had a bad match, why'd they change the game?".

I'd guess they really aren't touching spirit at all since spirit is basically the queen of cosmetics. If I recall correctly she has the most cosmetics for the killer side at the moment.

EDIT: Checked, she has the 2nd most cosmetics in the store behind legion.

That's what makes me think that Trickster was just the staff fulfilling their own wants. The anniversary screens were just a bunch of fangirly blurbs like "he's so sassy! I love kpop and anime!!".

It feels like they're more working off of bias with the game and not what's best for it or what the audience wants.

  • I used to get Doctor a lot a couple weeks ago, but I don't see him at all lately. I haven't seen Hag or Trapper in a while either.

  • Probably an oversight since it uses skill checks lol

You don't need to send screenshots of the chat, a simple report will do the trick. As for what will happen, it depends on what they said. Pretty sure they wouldn't ban someone for calling someone else a "doo-doo head", but if they start slinging racist slurs at people, that's different.

    You mean if they're called a **** ** ********* ?

  • Binge tf out of the films 😎 I was obsessed as a teen, so the mask is almost comforting lol

  • It's very rare to get a usable key in chests. It's almost always a medkit, toolbox, or flashlight. Rarely you get a key or a map but they're usually green if you do, which means you get a broken key that you can't even aura read with.

Then with maps like Midwich, you're guaranteed a Skeleton Key, but only during EGC if you solved the puzzle.

Not saying it never happens, but it's not a common enough thing to really make it a priority over reworking keys or hatch in general.

  • I'm too big of a Halloween fan lol I've never been spooked by him, even during my first match. Same with Ghostface.

I get unnerved when I don't hear a terror radius or see anyone get injured, but once I see them, I'm like "oh hey".

I believe what would help the most would be very thick fog, like in the original Silent Hill.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D0YCTH2KF8QE/sh1-fog1.jpg

Imagine hearing the Killer's Terror Radius and not being able to see where they are coming from, even if you're on a large open map like Red Forest.

The fog is totally busted. Even if you use reagents, it doesn't make a very big difference. Then there's maps like the new Coldwind where the sun is out and the fog is black for some reason, or how the RPD only has fog on the ground level.

Imagine thick fog or big shadow bulbs in conjunction with Insidious, or a killer like Michael or Ghostface.

  • I understand if the bones in the face are [BAD WORD] like Jill's and Nancy's or if they remove makeup or change hair textures/directions and colors so things look broken or off, but the facial reworks themselves are based primarily on the original geometry. It's not identical, but you can see how things mesh together if you overlay the new and old faces in a photo editor.

In fact, I'm sure that if you just applied the old textures to the new faces, it'd be hard to tell the difference most of the time.

I mean that's what tournaments do and what competitive players typically play like. They just ignore the hatch as a mechanic altogether because it's unfair. It's pure luck most of the time and that's not really fair. It's dbd not a roll of the dice like Mario Party.

They can ignore it, but that doesn't mean it's an unfair mechanic in and of itself. I imagine most people don't play this game competitively like that.

I do something along the same lines. Mostly try to earn as many bloodpoints as possible in a match.

Sometimes results in me getting killed, but at least the match was worth doing. Instead of me ending up with 8,000 bp when it ends.

Yeah, exactly. I'm not pissed if I die during the match. I just want to be able to play and have a good time earning points.

When I get pushed out early without being able to do much, I start to wonder what the point of the match even is.

  • I do a lot to maintain the balance. If I find the hex totem for Ruin but the match has only just started, I ignore it. If I bang out 2 gens, I usually will avoid working on any more unless things get dire or unless I have a challenge to complete. Instead I focus on unhooking, healing, and breaking dull totems.

It doesn't stop oppressive or sweaty killers from coming after me though. Or my teammates from focusing on more than just finishing all the gens as fast as possible.

  • You have to love how you can't even say "B" on the forum in reference to one of the killers already in the game lmao

  • They don't sound remotely the same as their RE actors. They sound a bit similar to other DBD characters, so I'd guess that it's someone who's already voiced one or two.

  • I'm just sick of ranged killers in general at this point. It feels like almost every match has you pitted against a killer that can negate pallets or vaults, so you're basically just buying time until they down you or end the chase.

I have no qualms getting downed or dying, but when they end chases so quickly, it can really allow them to speedrun the match. It's crazy how common it is to get under 10k bp as survivor. The anniversary event and this farming event have helped to balance that out a lot. I'm really not looking forward to going back to normal play without multipliers.

  • this a noob yes i agree thank you 🤖

  • I rapid fire to make a lot of noise and to be annoying.

  • Maybe making the skillcheck bar larger might be a start. But even that isn't super necessary.

  • I'm happy with how my mains turned out. I kinda feel like the more waifu crowd is upset at the girls being updated.

  • I'd really like some classic skins that aren't from the new titles.

Before they patched out modding, someone started importing the Darkside Chronicles models and I was really looking forward to that.

  • I think the system of them acknowledging bugs is nice, but we never get any updates or follow-ups. I've been posting about a glitch with a paid cosmetic for months that they acknowledged in bug reporting, but hasn't been mentioned in any updates. I'd be happy if they at least told me what they're planning on doing about it, or what's holding it up.

Even when it comes to feedback, it feels like they pick and choose what they want to acknowledge. They say the loudest opinions get attention, which I understand, but I also notice that that's not always the case.

If anything, it just feels like they're disconnected from the community, despite what they said in the anniversary loading screens.

  • The one time I burnt an offering, the killer DCed during the loading screen and softlocked the game lol

I wanna play it more but it seems like people are prone to raging if I send us there.

  • I only really play survivor. I play:

David, Chris, Jeff, Ash, Felix, Dwight, Claire, and Heather mainly.

  • @jakesotto said:

I also liked the color before better, I hope they change it back because I'm not a fan of editing a skin people already saw and paid for. They couldve released the new one as a recolor

Yeah, it's excessive. I'm glad they showed us updates on the reworked faces so we could give them feedback. Even the bodies to a lesser extent since it was only shown in PTB. But the cosmetic changes are an unwelcome surprise in some cases, especially with paid cosmetics like this.

I'd definitely be down for recolors of Debt Collector since it's one of my favorites. I just want the old color back on the default. 😭

  • Please! It'd make games a lot less frustrating when they end with under 10k bp.

Survivor can be a very brutal grind depending on how the trials go down.

  • @Bwsted said:

There's nothing nonsensical. It's simply an opinion, just like yours or mine.

And opinions are allowed to be expressed and heard.

Here's mine. Fun of everyone in the trial is important, within reasonable limits.

It's cool you're having fun. Your fun is not the end-all and be-all. Hunters were having fun too in Deathgarden. Past tense only. And that because Scavengers' opinions were being ignored. I guess fun was good till it lasted.

Try to be a little bit more open-minded and less partisan. Not everything has to boil down to us-vs-them.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

  • Survivors still fail pallet drops, even if they camp them. Killers still have the choice to bait the pallet drop or to go for the hit too.

Naturally, I've noticed that pallets are safer as survivor but they actually feel possible to drop unlike before. But that doesn't mean every drop is a success, like I mentioned. I still get baited into dropping them earlier sometimes and we still exchange hits.

All the clip shows is the problem they've already acknowledged, where the server validates the hit but the delay acts like it didn't. Hopefully they fix it.

  • @gendoss said:

Yeah I agree with this. The hatch is a really dumb mechanic in general. Why should the last survivor be able to escape for free anyway?

Because it's the endgame and it's a fight to the death at that point. One survivor alone isn't enough to best the killer.

If the hatch didn't spawn, it would be putting the last survivor into a situation they would have no hope winning. You might as well end the match and say the killer got them.

By adding the hatch, it evens the playing field and gives the survivor either the hope to find the hatch or time to open the gate while killer searches for it. It's not a guaranteed kill or a guaranteed escape.

Plus, it's EGC so honestly being upset at any play tactic introduced there is pointless.

  • I never found it more stressful, but I didn't sink a ton of time into it either. I'm just not that into that role so I don't play it.

Naturally playing the mastermind means that you get no down time and that you're in constant pursuit. If you let your guard down, you can easily be overpowered like Gulliver's Travels lol

But despite the down time, survivor is stressful when it comes to trying to maintain your one strength: teamwork. You can't rely on yourself only, but you also end up in a lot of matches where you can't rely on your teammates either.

Then of course, both sides have the added stress of trying not to end the match too quickly. Although I guess that's down to perspective.

It really just depends at the end of the day.

  • Edited the OP to include a comparison image.

Toxic is a term used far too loosely in the DBD community, honestly.

I always think the same thing lol Here I thought toxic was a term used in real life cases of abuse. But apparently it's getting teabagged in a video game.

  • Because you're toxic and I'm slipping under.

Right?! I know the perks I made up suck (good thing I'm not a game developer) but I'd love Mulder and Scully as survivors!

They're not a bad start. Aura reading perks fit him pretty well. It's not like the devs are too great at it either 😋 It's all in good fun anyway.

Bringing up bugs is drama? Man then I guess this whole anniversary event was one big drama fest🤣. Thanks for your contribution.

Did you post this in bug reporting, or did you vent about it in GD? 🙃

  • I've heard of different methods in the past, but Idk what's going on with those presently. I doubt most people would be using something like that though. Unless they're super sweaty, in which case you never know.

1v1? That is ######### but they asked for a custom match against the team, that's a rematch which I would gladly take against anyone unless they just beat my main/s which if that happened you get "GG WP. You/You guys were great."

I'm not trying to harp on you or anything, I just don't get why you'd take them up on the offer when they were already pretty tilted. It just seems better to explain yourself (which tbh you didn't even have to do, but I do the same thing too) and move on.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2391887#Comment_2391887

Yea true, but I think it's a bit silly to say "You stayed at this destroyable resource to prevent yourself going down so you deserve to go down".

Yeah, I understand that too. I guess it's more just a distinction of using a pallet in a chase or to draw the killer's attention away from another survivor, or using the pallet to get a free stun when not in a chase. I usually fall somewhere in between where I'm still in the chase, but I've broken line of sight in an area I can't easily get away from, so I hide by the pallet to hopefully land a stun and get away safely. So a bit of a gray area.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2391876#Comment_2391876

Ahhh yea, lets pretend it only ever happens on "camped pallets" a made up term by killers so they can somehow justify hitting survivors through stuns, good job.

It sounds like a pretty accurate term lol I think all survivors hide behind pallets every now and then. It's not quite as damning as a hook being camped so I doubt it's something that gets brought up very often, but you're still hanging out and baiting the killer into taking a hit.

  • @chargernick85 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2391756#Comment_2391756

You know how it goes. "I never have to tunnel, slug, camp and I still 4k as killer" coming from someone in green or lower ranks, or just plain bullshit. You don't 4k all your games at high rank without AT LEAST the occasional slug, tunnel, camp. Like you mentioned before I as well don't start with none of these tactics I go for the 12 hook and yes there are games where I win using the survivor rule book. You can't do that every game not to mention as I have said in other posts not every killer uses just their main. Truthfully speaking you have no idea if the killer is at his best unless there is something in his profile showing his top killer. For Instance I got the twins ritual last night "chase for 180 or 300 seconds with twins" can quite remember the time but the challenge should say chase with Charlotte because Vik don't count towards the ritual. I had 20 minutes before the new ritual came out and I needed to clear the spot. So I never used vik to get it done in one game. Got a couple to death hook and they barely got out against a killer with no power. Get a message your trash.....I tried to explain what I was doing but they no care and said we would beat you in a custom as well.......Okay now that I want to see (killer my choice, with perks my choice, I'll take those odds) sent him request, got message back "We don't have a fourth sorry" which I responded "That's convenient lmk when you do". Can't tell you how many people I run into who can't think outside their little bubble. When I destroy a killer my team usually starts the "man he sucked speech" which I politely say look at the perks, how he played in trial, it's clear he don't use him/her often if not at all. We should have won. just like OP can't see outside his own SWF, run anti-tunnel, slug, and camp perks that is what they are there for. They won't it's easier to cry when you die.

Why would you feed into that? That 1v1 me shtick is so 7th grade.

  • People are saying the pallets are working correctly, but the scream is a bug. You lost the hit detection, but the bug is telling you you didn't. Not that it isn't annoying, but it is what it is.

And the RPD isn't just a survivor thing. I love the map and burned an offering for it recently, but killer DCed during the loading screen and softlocked the entire game for everyone else lol

  • I already play a lot like that lol

The survivors are all blank slates without their unique perks, so it makes each survivor feel like their own thing.

  • I wouldn't delete any killers, but he's one of the few that I enter in knowing that the match is likely to be completely unfair. I tend to just give up and start breaking hooks or looking for totems.

Spirit is in this category as well.

  • We don't need new characters, but they're always fun to see. Although we rarely get any characters I'm all that interested in.

Honestly the worst offender so far has been Kill-All. Doesn't fit the theme of DBD at all and feels way more like something tacked on by staff based on their own tastes. Even prior to that though, what makes so many of these characters good candidates for the entity? Why would they be chosen when they have no synergy with the killers they're paired with? It all feels so lazy and uninspired.

  • @OGQuentinMain said:

The Devs have just always hated Jeff, he isn't even in his own release trailer.

To be totally honest, I don't even think a survivor like David would get even the small amount of attention he does get if there wasn't an outcry of support for him. Same with Felix.

You can clearly tell they like the OG survivors the most, along with Nea.

  • I get why they do it so we're encouraged to play both, but I personally don't enjoy playing killer so when I get days of nothing but killer dailies, I'm more likely to just not check dailies at all.

  • I've said this before, but I've had consistent issues with weird things like character names being censored. Before the RE chapter launched, we were talking in lobby about who we thought killer would be and I was censored for saying I thought it might be Wesker. I got censored again for using the name Sunderland when talking to someone about Silent Hill.

I don't know why these specific terms would be censored, or what purpose it would ever serve.
