Not a fan of blink-and-you'll-miss-it cosmetics. Honestly, I'm not even that fond of exclusive cosmetics unless they're tied to in-game accomplishment.
I'm fine if they want to treat these time-limited cosmetics as exclusive-lite by making them only obtainable during that particular time of year and not available for purchase (ie, you'd only be able to earn Deathslinger's 4th Anniversary cosmetics by playing during any Anniversary Event or even right on DbD's anniversary day of June 14th), but I don't want them to become completely unobtainable for players who simply weren't around at that exact moment in time.
-
I wouldn't envy the people who have to come up with 25 different special/passive abilities for the survivors we currently have.
At this point in DbD's life it'd be a herculean task of programming, balance, and bug-fixing.
-
I remember trying to do the one where you had to heal teammates for the equivalent of like 12 health states and got 2-3 Plagues in a row.
Then again, I played against a Legion immediately after that, which made it a piece o' cake.
RNGesus works in mysterious ways.
-
I think they're generally an improvement.
The only things that kind of bug me are the large changes to the characters' hair:
-Dwight's hair is shorter and cleaner, whereas beforehand it was pretty shaggy and unkempt.
-Meg is a brunette now. OG Meg was a redhead. The difference here is extremely noticeable.
...and their cleaner skin. Meg and Dwight have default outfits caked with dirt, sweat, and grime, yet now their arms (and Dwight's face) are nearly spotless. Just looks a little odd; I'm skeptical that the Entity provides a shower near the campfire.

Slinger, Billy, Oni, and Wraith are too high, Twins are far too low.
Hold up, are you saying that Oni should be even lower than B-Tier?
He seems like an easy A-Tier pick IMO, even when not on PC.

Myers-not a whole lot left for the first movie...the institute with outdoors where the bus crashed too.
Freddy- DreamWorld map. Kinda surprised there isnt one
Pyramid head- I'm not crazy family with silent hill but I know there are options.
Pig- house from saw 2
Ghostface- house from scream 1 (I know it's technically a different thing)
Leatherface- actual map with his house
Demo- the town upside down version
An outdoor Silent Hill map set within the town or its amusement part would be pretty amazing. The thick fog native to that location would make for an interesting atmospheric quirk (it's significantly thicker than anything we have in DbD currently).

Aside from some of the big film franchises we don't have yet (F13, Child's Play, Alien)...
I'd probably spring for Outlast
(Walker, Trager, Gluskin, Marta)
or The Evil Within
(Keeper, Ruvik)

What head on builds do you suggest?
If you're willing to dedicate an entire build to it: Head On + Quick & Quiet + Iron Will + Inner Strength (or you could use Red Herring/Deception if you're feeling spicy)
Those perks are in order of importance too. Head On and Q&Q are probably the only "mandatory" perks for a Locker-stun build; the others definitely help make it a little more interesting, but could be safely swapped out for any other non-exhaustion perks that you might prefer to have in your loadout.
-
It's a bummer that you don't have Plague's perks available, because Oni loves to use Infectious Fright and Corrupt Intervention (I'd get these two perks ASAP if you can).
Otherwise Monitor & Abuse is a solid choice for him. Other perk slots could be devoted to gen-protection, keeping survivors injured, or to tracking (less important since Oni has some basekit tracking through Blood Orbs).
Based on what you have available, I'd probably go with an M&A / Sloppy Butcher / Enduring / Ruin build. But feel free to mix-n-match that set to suit your preferences (I would avoid Thanataphobia though; it encourages survivors to heal and you don't want them doing that).
As far as actual tips to playing Oni, the biggest one that helped me get better with him was:
-Don't activate Blood Fury unless you can see a survivor (whether physically or through aura-reading) to use it on. Smart survivors will just hide from enraged Oni to waste your power, but they can't do that very easily if you were already looking at them.
-
Just use a Head On build and hope that it works.
-
fKiller: Forced Penance / Dark Devotion / Nemesis / I'm All Ears
Survivor: Aftercare / Detective's Hunch / We're Gonna Live Forever / Head On
-
Best ship?
The Pale Rose

I don't like the Tombstone Piece.
It's basically just discount Judith's Tombstone without the movement speed penalty (and it requires less overall stalking).
I'm fine with Myers having access to this insta-kill mechanic, but I don't think he needs two add-ons that allow it. IMO, Judith's Tombstone is generally better balanced for this and is also more appropriate due to its status as a UR add-on (which are supposed to drastically change how a power works).
-
Just try swapping them around for other perks that sound interesting to you. It's not a big deal if you don't find something you want to use more though, Spine Chill and Windows of Opportunity are both pretty solid perks.
If you want more specific suggestions, then consider adding in perks that complement the other stuff you like to use (Quick & Quiet and/or Dance With Me for Lithe, Babysitter and WGLF for BT, etc).
Alternatively, you may like Alert; it kinda provides a looser version of the same info that Spine Chill (killer detection) and WoO (what pallets are still available) do. Might tickle your fancy.
-
Oni's is my personal favorite, but Nurse has the most unique wall-break in the game (since she only hits it once).
Though off the top of my head, Wraith, Huntress, and Blight also have really satisfying wall-break animations. Freddy's is good too, but I don't like the sound it makes.

Thanks for the advice, I tried having the totem counter next to the gen count but it looked kinda weird to me since there were two big numbers right next to each other. I guess i wanted a bit of contrast but I'll try messing around with it a bit more!
Maybe the totem counter could get that information across through an alternate visual besides giant numbers? That might reduce the weirdness.
(It's a really rough example that I threw together in like two minutes with Word, but it should convey the idea).
Whatever they do with a totem indicator though (if they ever add one in this way), I just hope they have it change to an icon of a broken totem once no bones are left standing.
-
Honestly, I'd digging the mock-up.
If I was going to change anything, I'd probably just swap where the totem counter and challenge tracker are located on your example. That would put totems next to gens as a "secondary objective", while the tracker's box would block less important screen-space (while open) if pushed towards the bottom edge of the HUD.

The closest I could find any reason why (I know there shouldn't be, but for amusement purposes) was a website which gives 350 names you shouldn't call your baby, due to various cultures, etc..
Yet, the site has names like "Succubi" on it. WHO IN THE HELL WOULD NAME THEIR KID SUCCUBI!!
Of course, there is also the darkest name of "Tim" there too - which explains a friend of mine at least!😁
Imagine if "Tim" also got picked up by the chat filter...
-
Now that you've mentioned it, I don't think I've ever played against Pyramid Head on Hawkins.
...And honestly, I'm kinda glad for it. His power would probably be pretty good on that map.
I guess to a broader extent I haven't seen Hag/Twins/Trickster in a majority of the realms, but that's more because Hag and Twins are niche picks (pretty rare to see) and Trickster hasn't been around for very long.

I'm honestly a little baffled as to why DbD still runs so poorly on console.
Like, I could go boot up a game that I assume is far more demanding on my hardware than DbD like Battlefield 1 (also launched in 2016) or Kingdom Hearts III (also runs on Unreal Engine 4) and have pretty minimal performance issues.
Yet in DbD I can count on regular frame-stuttering EVERY match as either role. I mostly only see similarly poor console performance in games that are several years older (like Just Cause 3 or GTA Online). I can't say this is the worst that I remember the game ever being on console, but it's certainly still holding the experience back from being as fun as it could (and should) be.
-
- Rework maps to reduce extreme RNG variance (the kind which can drastically unbalance a map in favor of one of the roles). This could be through creating several pre-balanced "seeds" for each map or by just tweaking the procedural generation system further.
- Give the killer a second Offering slot.
- Better single-player/offline activities. Basically, I want the equivalent of an offline mode with killer/survivor bots and a proper "Practice Mode" with frame/timing/speed/distance data (like what Mortal Kombat provides).
-
Gotta go further back and get THE original Scooby-Doo villain.
-
- Right in-between SAW and Curtain Call (Summer 2018, I remember playing in the BBQ & Margarita event)
- Originally David, now it's Felix (only two survivors I have at P3 w/ all perks). If I ever bring more survivors up to this level, then Jeff and Tapp would be next.
- Wanted to be a Clown main originally, but got kinda bored of him (and the concept of "maining" one killer). No longer have a "main", but I deeply enjoy playing Pyramid Head, Huntress, Wraith, Demo, Bubba, and Deathslinger.
-
Pretty sure Deathslinger needs his crutch/brace thing because his leg is messed up. Poor guy is limping all over the place.
Plus Hag and Blight have back problems and could use the support. At least Blight had the sense to bring a cane.
Freddy and Clown just have their own various health problems (Clown especially has been leading a very unhealthy lifestyle; good on him for trying to get some cardio in).
They're crutching on everything when they really need to see the Doctor.
-
Probably checking latency.
I still do this to some extent (likely not as much as the people you've seen), but it's only motivated by avoiding a bad/unstable connection in the pre-game lobby. If my latency is regularly hanging out at or spiking above 100ms before the match has even started, then I'll back out and try again in another lobby.
Better to just dodge high-ping lobbies instead of playing in laggy trials.
-
Film/TV - Alien (Scooby-Doo was a real close second, though I see the Mystery Inc gang working better as skins rather than an actual Chapter/Paragraph. I'd really love to see one of their OG villains, like the Black Knight, spoofed in Dbd).
Anime - Hellsing: I don't really watch any anime, but I loosely know this one thanks to the "Hellsing Abridged" series. I'm more familiar with the original Van Helsing character from Dracula. It'd be fun to play as a vampire hunter.
Video Games - The Evil Within: Fuse together Resident Evil's gameplay with Silent Hill's style/themes and this series is what you get. Hasn't had the same kind of impact on its genre that RE, SH, or Amnesia: The Dark Descent did, but would be an awesome IP to see in DbD nevertheless.
Comics - Hellboy: More familiar with the movies than the comics, but it seemed like it could be fun.
"What'd We Forget?" - Outlast: Literally a series built on running and hiding (often in lockers) from dangerous and monstrous enemies. It'd be really easy to see Outlast characters in DbD just as a thematic fit. Plus with any luck we'll be getting a new game in this series sometime this year, so that could align the stars once again for another optimal crossover.

What was death garden exactly/what happened to it?
It was another of BHVR's projects. Kinda like DbD, but with parkour and guns I think (didn't really play it myself, just saw some gameplay when it was relevant). It had Hunters and Runners/Scavengers in place of Killers and Survivors.
Possibly because of Deathgarden's similarity to DbD and also its own issues with balance, it struggled to maintain a playerbase. Its servers were shut down in mid-2020.
-
Removing the locks on perk slots would probably be an easy way to further improve the new-player-experience without negatively impacting DbD veterans.
At the very least I think they should allow all characters to start with 3 perk slots (for their own trio of personal perks). Seems kinda silly that every character comes with three perks, but requires a several-thousand-BP Bloodweb investment in order to actually use those three perks at the same time.
-
I'm not real keen on playing against (or as) the Trap Killers. So Trapper, Hag, and Freddy (Demo is a happy exception).
Otherwise, I don't really like seeing Spirit (not enough info/counterplay options) or Ghost Face (who would honestly be fine if his stupid Reveal mechanic didn't derp out all the time).
-
For Killers...
Probably Spirit. She's not that tough to learn, plus she has an incredibly strong power and mostly-good personal perks to work with. She also doesn't have any inherent issues with earning emblems like some of the stealth and insta-down killers do, so she's unlikely to accidentally deny herself of a Merciless Victory (well, unless survivors self-sacrifice/DC to avoid playing against her).
For survivors...
I'm not sure if there's really one true survivor who is the "easiest" to Adept. You'd probably get a shorter list by asking which survivors are actually difficult to run with only their personal perks. But if I had to pick, probably Meg, Jake, or Bill. They all get some strong perks that mainly benefit their user (BT and Saboteur are the exceptions), meaning you can afford rely more on yourself and less on your team while working towards an escape.
-
Insidious, especially with the BT buff incoming.
It's high time this perk got reworked to function in a different way.
-
At the end of the day, people want to play with their friends and would probably prefer not to be punished for doing so. Slapping big debuffs or other nerfs on everyone who plays SWF just because they're playing SWF is going to create frustration and drive players away (since most SWF teams aren't even composed of good players, just casual buddies playing DbD together).
For the most part, people want solo-queue buffs that wouldn't really affect SWF groups at all. This is why the concepts of basekit Kindred and a base Totem Counter are by far the most popular suggestions. A SWF team already gets both of these abilities for free by virtue of communication; it'd make almost no difference to them if this stuff was added for solo players.
Alternatively, buffing solo-queue closer to SWF-levels also means that killers can be better balanced against that higher standard too. It provides a justification to improve a lot of the killer cast to better deal with coordinated survivor teams. Plus the totem counter, while something I personally don't really want, could finally incentivize the creation of much better totem hiding spots and an overhaul to Hex perk effects and mechanics.
-
It's one of many things I don't like about Spirit (her passive phasing is another mechanic that bothers me).
My personal favorite solution to removing the "stand-still" mindgame would just be to obliterate the Husk she leaves behind when phasing. The terror radius would still stay rooted to that spot like normal, but Spirit would not leave a copy of herself behind while phase-walking.
For bonus points, they could even make Spirit's "husk" appear to shatter like glass when she begins to phase-walk.
-
Poised. Especially if it was more equivalent to something like Coup de Grace (where finished gens gave it tokens that could be consumed to activate its effect).
On a different and way more busted note, imagine if you could control when something like Adrenaline activates. You'd literally have one on-demand insta-heal and sprint burst so long as the gates were powered first.
-
Yup.
It's been a pretty annoying and (unfortunately) very consistent problem. It's definitely affected how well I can play as either role too, since a poorly-timed frame stutter will easily interfere with whatever play I might've been trying to make.
Not an unusual sight right after a big update though, especially on the console platforms. I'm just glad I got the few Rift rewards I wanted before Chapter XIX dropped.
-
Did OP ever state which kinds of killers they most prefer to play?
Otherwise if you like...
-Strategic/Trap Killers (like Trapper/Hag), then you might like: Nightmare, Demogorgon, maybe Pig or Twins too.
-Stealthy Killers (like Wraith), then you might like: Shape, Pig, or Ghost Face. Spirit and Deathslinger can also pull off some jumpscare shenanigans with the right perks and tactics.
-Speedy Killers (like Hillbilly), then you might like: Oni, Spirit, Legion, Blight, or Twins (Victor is pretty quick).
-"Super-Lunge" Killers (which is what I consider Nurse to be), then you might like: Pig, Spirit, Demo, or Blight.
-Loop Disruption Killers (like Doctor), then you might like: Cannibal, Nightmare, Clown, Pig, Deathslinger, Pyramid Head, or Trickster.
-Ranged Killers (like Huntress), then you might like: Deathslinger, Plague, Pyramid Head, or Trickster.
If I was personally going to recommend one killer above all the others though, I'd go with Oni. He's powerful, but generally well-liked by the community. He's also been pretty bug-free recently, which is always a plus. He offers what is arguably one of the best powers in DbD, but will also force you to improve your basic looping skills in order to access it more regularly.
-
I'd probably just remove the Tombstone Piece and replace it with something else.
I don't think Myers needs to have two insta-kill add-ons. IMO, Judith's Tombstone is the more balanced of the pair (being UR and also hindering mobility), so T-Piece should get the boot.
-
I understand that a lot of people prefer the more cinematic 3rd-person moris, but I always found it jarring to suddenly be thrust outside of my character for them.
Really wish that we could get 1st-person perspectives added for all the 3rd-person-only moris. Then just allow players to toggle a setting as to which killer camera would be used during a particular mori animation.
-
She needs an add-on pass more than anything else. 75% of her add-ons exclusively affect her RBT's and Jigsaw Boxes (leaving 5 for the Crouch and Ambush abilities).
Of all these add-ons that do affect her traps, several are either somewhat unfair (Tampered Timer and the "Plan" add-ons), completely negligible (the "Razor" add-ons), or just encourage tunneling trapped survivors (Amanda's Secret and the Status Effect Inflicters).
Aside from the add-ons though, the one big thing I'd change about her base mechanics would be to delay her Ambush "roar". I think it should play right as she begins to Dash instead of while she's charging the attack.
-
Whoever they've picked, I sincerely hope we can have a legendary skin of the Tofu Survivor from RE2
-
As a fellow console player (on an OG Xbox One that somehow runs DbD without bursting into flames), I'd personally push Demo, Doc, and Nurse up a tier each.
I'd also drag both Freddy and Myers down a tier (entirely because of the massive frame-dropping they accrue due to their powers; it's super irritating to deal with on the regular).
And while it's probably just a result of really bad personal experiences with her, Plague is a big fat F-Tier character for me. I have had way too many instances of her just completely bugging out in really frustrating ways.
-
In addition to what's been said (without it we'd have way too many people permanently stuck in the red ranks)...
...It also acts as a way to naturally drop the ranks of people who haven't played the game for a while. If you came back after an extended break, your skills would probably be a little rusty and playing with/against lower ranked players would be a better way to knock the dust off than immediately being thrown to the sharks in Red Ranks.
-
If you're playing as part of a group (especially a 3-4 man SWF), then always cleanse dull totems and just keep track of how many have been removed by the team.
If you're playing in solo queue, the optimal strategy is to leave dull totems alone but make a mental note of where each one you've seen was. If you suspect NOED (or have it confirmed) after the last gen pops, then you just re-check all the spots you found earlier until you find the lit totem.
But it's entirely up to you whether or not to play in that optimal way. I know I certainly don't (I want that Cleansing BP).
-
Black Box blocks the gates for sleeping survivors after the gate is opened (it's a mini Blood Warden now). The fact that it only lasts for 10 seconds and doesn't do anything else during the trial is the part that seems underwhelming to me though.
Alarm Clocks will nullify it, but they also might require a survivor to move away from the gate to wake up (though you could probably just fail a healing skillcheck or be woken up by a teammate at the gate too).

The reworked add-ons are in the PTB Patch Notes section (4.7.0 PTB).

Interesting suggestions, but there's a few issues:
Legion - A "disguise" killer would be extremely difficult to pull off well. SWF would destroy this character and make their power completely moot (frustrating for the killer; Ghost Face already suffers from this issue to some extent) and this ability risks being too good and feeling borderline "uncounterable" against solo-queue players (frustrating for survivors). Runs a really high risk of just feeling terrible on both sides. There's a reason that very few multiplayer games have a character like this.
Deathslinger - Making his gun work like a normal gun (without the Spear & Chain) would be pretty overpowered. At this point he would become a Huntress with a small terror radius, virtually no wind up, an extremely fast projective, and a small hitbox (it can travel through the holes in a lot of walls). It'd probably turn Deathslinger into the DCslinger.
Pig - Tying each box to a specific player doesn't really do anything about her RNG. Presumably neither you nor they would know which box they needed to interact with, so virtually nothing changes. If the survivors knew the box and Pig didn't, it'd be a nerf to Pig. If Pig knew the box and the survivors didn't, she could just block the appropriate box for free kills. She really does need an add-on pass though, ideally one that allows more add-ons to affect her Ambush/Crouch/Dash abilities (75% of her add-ons are for the RBTs and Jigsaw Boxes).
-
Mines the "classic" solo-queue scenario:
Getting hooked just to see that half your team is hiding in corners and/or crouch-walking around the map (bonus points if they didn't even bring Urban Evasion for doing that) is both humorous and irritating. Especially silly when you see it in Red Ranks.
...Usually results in a first-hook-death-hook situation because they'll take longer than 2 minutes to actually reach my location.
-
I don't think Rotten Pumpkin is going to be quite as bad as it initially appears.
One of Demo's problems (as mentioned earlier) is that it has a limited amount of Portals and they cannot be recycled unless sealed by survivors. If survivors never destroy portals that Demo placed in bad spots, those portals effectively become useless for the remainder of the trial and Demo is left with a permanent disadvantage.
Rotten Pumpkin would now allow Demo to set up a few key portals and regularly warp to them from wherever it is without needing to worry about the entry portal's placement (since it would get auto-recycled by this add-on). Used strategically, Rotten Pumpkin could provide a huge boost to Demo's cross-map mobility.
You could even work around its drawback by just saving one portal in reserve to use exclusively for warping to anywhere else in your portal network. Portals only have to be a minimum of 8m apart, that's not a huge distance to cover when moving away from a "key" portal that you don't want to recycle.
-
Nectar Vial or the Fog Lantern.

Favorites:
Killer - Save the Best for Last
Survivor - Either Iron Will (from a practical standpoint) or Head On (from a "fun factor" standpoint)
Least Favorite:
Killer - Insidious (it's a bad perk that also does almost nothing but facilitate camping)
Survivor - Object of Obsession (it's just kind of ridiculous how exploitable this perk can be. I sincerely hope they rework it)
