  • Ya but then if you don't like the killer, you might not purchase. This way, they get you to use money or resources to simply find out if you like the killer! And if you don't, oops oh well no refunds!

  • Finally an excuse to play my poor neglected level 1 survivors.

  • If you go after the survivor challenges in the archives, some of them encourage you to play a different style than you normally would.

This can make for some interesting games if you don't have one survivor with every perk on them. Hell i had to run around with some wack ass Adam pebble build for his two challenges and went 2/2. It was fun.

I didn't live the first game, but i did get to spam pebble 5 or 6 times and absolutely confused a probly over it LF for 5 min or so.

  • It's not bad. What do you do for healing? Med kit? Is this solo? Without kindred, you may make unideal plays. Like BT won't help if Cheryl gets there a second before you do. Not to mention 3 players off gens in that moment.

I like PT as well.. it can really clinch a gen or two that may have otherwise fallen victm to pop or ruin.

Some people have terrible advice OP. If it involves anything to do with intentionally making other’s games less fun, developing a dependency on substances, or otherwise harmful to yourself and others, just ignore it. Personally i like to play a killer i havent tried before, or run meme builds so that i go into the match without the expectation of winning. One you get to play around with and learn a new killer, the other you get to have fun without trying.

Lol yes OP. Follow this advice. The best way to not get tilited as killer is to play one you've never played before, run bad perks, or just don't ever believe you're going to win. Great job.

  • Hmm pour yourself one drink per match and you'll at some point either not give a f or you'll just rage quit. Both strong options.

  • I'd be ok with them increasing the ranks by 10. Add 2 more colors, make it slightly harder to pip, and rank reset sets everyone back 10 ranks.

Right now, once you get to rank 8, it's basically impossible to fall back to 10. So this crowd basically lives in purple/red forever by default. It's too generous.

and before you just comment “do bones” listen here.

bones are situational, if you see a totem then cleanse it but in a fast past game (especially in red ranks) you simply don’t have time to run around like a headless chicken confirming that all 5 totems have been cleansed.

Its not a perk that assists bad killers, it’s a perk that completely carries them and rewards them for being bad *cough cough just like bloodlust cough cough*

Recently, i had a game where i ran a legion for 5 gens and got downed to noed and facecamped. my teammates were running around looking for it and only found it AFTER i had died on first hook.

Its not like it assists killers who made a few mistakes, no. You could be the worse killer in existence, mess up at every opportunity, not look after gens not know how to loop and still get a 4k because of a stupidly designed perk.

The perk is old, badly designed, way to powerful, rewards killers for being bad, punishes survivors for being good and is overall a bad perk. Noed needs to be looked into, i’m sick of being punished for playing good. It’s actually sad that people in red ranks still run it.

Someone once suggested having 5 lit candles in the basement to represent the number of totems still on the map. It's not half bad.

The only reliable noed counter for solo q I've found, is basically don't get hit first. In my experience, cleansing all 5 totems usually ends with your team dead @ 1 gen left.

So, I've been thinking about this for a while, and think a killer that can disguise him/herself to look like one of the other survivors would be a fun addition. It could work like as soon as they hook a survivor they morph/mimic that survivor and stay like that until they attack another survivor. One of their perks could be sabotage, so when they help a survivor "repair" a gen they actually hinder the progress, like someone missing skill checks.

Need to think about the other perks though lol

Ya this is a cool idea and has been tossed around for a bit. The biggest problem would be swf. "Oh he got me. K. Avoid the Dwight".

Any solo survivor watching the hook would also immediately know who the killer is. Might work 2 v 8?

  • Interesting.. but I'm not sure this would help expand the dwindling killer player base.

  • I get escape as Ace all the time. Game is clearly trolling me as my Ace is lv.10. Could do it. Not gonna.

  • @ringwinning said:

Thank you everyone for your input!

Do any of you think Windows of Opportunity would be useful even though I don't use it?

The thing about WoO is that even when you're not using it, you're using it. Spine chill + WoO has turned me into a confident survivor. Maybe not confident enough to ditch them (ha) but I'm always ready for a chase.

  • I like bringing prove thyself as solo survivor. Solo games are so bleak. I like to imagine seeing this icon gives my teammates bonus confidence for the trial. It's also one of the few perks you're basically guaranteed to get some useage out of.

  • If this were happening, it would have happened by now. There's just not a lot of financial incentive for bhvr to proceed with this.

Map reworks seem to be priority right now. Largely because old autohaven is sooo ps4 and 2021 is sooo ps5/x.

  • While kindred wouldn't have helped this situation, it will generally make solo q much more bearable.

  • Around the time I dumped 1mil bp into Cheryl just to find LVL 2 iron will (wow!), I realized that I really needed a more constructive project for my bp. (This especially hurt as i recently took Felix to lvl 10 and he already has lv. 2 iron will..)

I decided to p3 a survivor that was already lv.50. I have 3/4 achievements with just the last go. I probably won't even play her much (claud), but it'll be nice to get the trophies over with.

  • @eiredrake said:

So I'm playing Pyramid head, wait like 10 minutes to actually get some people. I get in and there's two claudettes and a Nea and they decide to come after me with flashlights. Positioning themselves so there's not much I can do any way I turn I get flashlighted. I'm an average player, not some DbD diety or anything like this. The fact that these dickheads decide to take it upon themselves to ruin my game really pisses me off.

My own personal feelings is when douchey players come for me no amount of me playing decent against them is going to matter. Even disconning isn't going to do anything because they're still going to do what they're going to do. So I move to a wall, tilt my head up so flashlights don't bug me and refuse to play. I'm not going to play the 'lets gang up on the killer' game. If you're going to make my game miserable then I'm going to make yours as boring as possible.

Even then, the three of them come after me and start dancing around like morons, clicking their flashlights and jumping in and out of lockers and running across the barbed wire to be irritating and spam me with explosions and notifications.

We're not on the playground in 5th grade so I can't actually punch these ######### so that's about all I is refuse to play along. I'm curious as to what you guys do when people are dead set on ruining the game with antics like this. How do YOU handle these situations.

and for reference I'm looking for "you should grow a thicker skin" or "suck it up" other such bullshit you can keep that to yourself. And no I'm not taking it personally. I just find it aggravating. I paid to play this game just like everyone else and ######### like this really needs to stop.

Sounds like a typical swf experience, really. You just have to beat them at their own game. 3 flashlights? Franklins. Dancing around u? Start sluggin'. Bring sloppy.

You say you paid to play the game, but that's part of the problem. So did they. A % of this community basically lives to deliver the experience you just got, to as many unfortunate souls as their gaming hours will allow.

Just gotta try and make chicken salad out of chicken #########.

Banshee or another killer using some kind of sound based power is something I do expect at some point. Don’t know what it would do though...

Any survivor caught in TR of banshee static blast gets charmed by banshee, turned into a bot for 20 seconds, and inflicts deep wounds on other survivors :D

  • On for both sides PS4. My solo surv queue experience has definitely improved w crossplay.

  • I'd be surprised if anything came of this. Ruin/Undying, Corrupt and Discordance are probably serviceable enough for killers in BHVR's eyes.

End game collapse was necessary because games could last very long. Can one argue that early game collapse is *needed* and not just wanted?

Would they invest the resources in something that would make the survivor experience worse? (Or at least slightly irritating). They are the $ makers.

What would it even look like? Some ghetto corrupt intervention where 2 gens are blocked for 30sec? Their idea could be interesting, but the solo survivor experience is already rough.

It shouldn't even be a frustration, the terror radius is there for a warning and gives you more then enough time to find a tile to run. As long as you don't spawn in the killers face it's all fair play

And anytime you attempt to hide especially when you don't know exactly where the killer is you are taking a gamble and you shouldn't throw a hissy fit because that gamble didn't work out

Sometimes the spawns work in the survivors favor and they can complete a gen before the killer can physically get there, sometimes they work in the killers favor and they get an early chase. Neither scenario means you lost

Sorry but you lost any chance at sympathy when you confessed to ruin the match for 3-4 other people for something that boils down to a minor inconvience.

I agree that spawn points can really work against you sometimes but to throw a game for that is just petty.

If you can't handle frustration well then do yourself a favor and don't have 2 hour sessions of a multiplayer pvp game where there will always be some kind of frustration if you aren't winning.

This sounds more of a case that you needing to learn your limit and when not to join another match instead of letting the frustration build up and end up ruining the game for multiple people, completly destroying your mood to then rant on the forums where people not agreeing with you just make you more frustrated

This is not the first time you start ranting over something completelly minor, seriously learn your limit this isn't healthy

Find a more relaxing game you can play when dbd becomes to much. I never play this game for more then an hour at once and I always make sure i have something to do when dbd isn't working out for this exact reason

This is good advice. Pick a certain time to stop playing and conclude the overall experience with a 'gg' mindset, or stop playing after a great round. George Costanza called this going out on a high note. I do this.

To the OP, if you're found first, just practice looping. Don't dc or suicide. Don't be a bad teammate.

I also think you are BIGLY sleeping on spine chill. This perk is amazing and will solve your problem. If SC goes solid, glue yourself to the nearest wall or hiding spot and wave to the killer as they leave. Windows of Op is also pretty great for looping and surviving.

  • I was going for adept Felix against a Freddy. I wasn't spotted the entire game (I did 2 gens but was being stealthy).

I find an exit gate which is being opened by a Kate. Might as well hide in this locker til it's open. Bad idea. Freddy approaches, kate b lines for my locker, half opens it (ugh), and flees. I try to exit to take 1 hit but get carried to a hook.

Kate then swoops in to save without BT and im downed again. This Freddy felt so bad for me, the guy he hadn't seen all match getting 2 hooked in 30 seconds, that he carries me to the exit.

Adept felix! Except my screenshot of glory is just me crawling for my life while Fred hangs out and nods approvingly. I couldn't really tell if kate sandbagged me on purpose, because this was solo queue. But eh let's assume YES!

  • @brokedownpalace said:

To the Leatherface who went to an exit gate and AFK'd for the entire match with NOED and Blood Warden at the ready: yikes lol. Idk what else to say. Congrats on getting free kills I guess!

To the survivors in my match: stop with the altruism. If we had gone to the other gate the killer would have gotten 0 kills. However, he downed one of you and instead of everyone else just leaving and giving him a 1k, you play stupidly altruistically and handed him a 2k. Feeling overly confident with your BT and DS? Stop.

And a special shout out to that one survivor who inexplicably opened the exit gate literally 1 second before LF hooked someone, while I was running to the other one I had at 99%: **** you. You nearly got me killed and handed him a 3k. I was literally a foot away from escaping but now had to go hide for a minute and stealth to an exit with just seconds to spare.

But hey it's not all bad, I got to loot a pink key off one of your corpses!

Seriously solo queue is the real killer

But how about that adrenaline rush? The despair. The immense relief upon escaping? For this is the true dbd experience.

  • I really think saloon only exists because rdr2 came out a year or so before it. I like the map tho. I dread midwich as survivor much more.

So last weekend I visited my brother, and we got talking about video games. I hyped up DBD as I've been playing that a lot, and he was interested. I bought the game for him on PS4 and started teaching him how to play. First of all... there's SOO MUCH to learn right away, and the tutorial does not teach you:

    • What a pallet is, how to use it, when to use it, or when to break it
    • How to vault a window
    • Fast actions send a notification to the killer
    • Missing a skill-check also notifies the killer
    • Almost NEVER try to unhook yourself
    • How the bloodweb works, how items and addons really work, and when you get to keep them
    • How to tell when there's a generator nearby on indoor maps
    • When you're actually able to kick a generator
    • What player level, devotion, character level, bloodpoints, iridescent currency and all that other ######### actually IS and what they're for
    • and more I can't remember

I can look past some of this stuff, as it's a lot of information and it'd be a very long tutorial, but it seems like they haven't updated the tutorial since the release? I don't know. But whatever. The worst is yet to come..

What was most disheartening is how survivors acted as soon as they realized he was a noob killer. He's obviously rank 20, but was still matched with people who had T3 perks from multiple different survivors, and a few times a green or purple ranked player. He was making the most basic of mistakes - not knowing how far you need to be to actually hit them (so he was constantly missing even when they were going in a straight line), or losing track of a survivor who was 180-ing or 360-ing, or simply losing them as soon as they went into a jungle gym. His eye wasn't trained to look for the slightest amount of movement in the corner of your screen, or the slightest glow of scratch marks in the distance, or where people go on certain maps.

What did the survivors do once they saw this? You guessed it, immediately started teabagging, clicking, and baiting him into pallet stuns followed by more emoting and teabagging. I didn't really comment on this, but he knew he was being "clowned on" by veterans. I was disappointed, but can't say I was surprised. As soon as someone gets the upper hand I guess they can't resist the urge to BM. He said he had fun regardless, but I'll see if he keeps playing or not.. I really don't think he'll play again unless I ask him to co-op.

Once again I'm baffled that matchmaking is not based primarily on devotion rather than an extremely flawed ranking system.

Him playing survivor was insightful too - I could see how scared he was of the heartbeat, constantly getting into lockers to avoid detection as if it was Metal Gear Solid. Contrast that with how I play as a survivor - constantly running, repairing in their face, having no fear of the killer at all. I definitely feel the devs believe the game should be played more like the former than the latter.

A very common experience. I mainly play on weekends, and rank reset had sent me back to rank 16 i believe. Somehow i got matched with a red rank and their friend.. clicking and tbagging non stop until i got a kill.

These groups will literally act as toxic as possible until you give them reason to fear you. Mission set to grief. You don't have to be a shrink to realize that's in essence bullying mindset 101. Tier 3 perks and all that. This is deliberate cheesing of mm'ing to make newer players feel as terrible as possible apparently.

The rank 4 barely escaped.. such a good looper; but i sacrificed the 3 others. As soon as i put the fear of god into them, i only received respect in return. God help these genuinely new players weather this storm.

Aw, I wish they had that!

DBD Mini Golf! We could play Solo or on a team as whatever survivor or killer we want, similar to Tekken Bowl... I’d also Love to play a DBD themed Kart racer like Mario Kart or Crash Team Racing.

I need that in my life😌

...and more maps; maps are my fav part of DBD

Haha I'd love a dbd kart racer. Like each racer still has their killers power. Hag can teleport, Billy gets speed boost, Trapper just traps other karts in maddening fashion. Spirit's kart just randomly slows down and appears somewhere else.

When I need a break from dbd, I've been playing mario bros 35 on switch. It's possible i've played this more than the original on NES.. Crazy experience for any 80's baby.

I loathe the term gen rush, it's the only objective aside from bones. Why do killers hook rush? Anytime I see an injured survivor I heal rush the ######### out of them. I also like chest rushing with ace in the hole in the hopes of getting a nice item with add-on. Then, when all generators are powered, I like to exit gate rush to open the doors as quickly as possible.

Say what? You exit gate rush? You're supposed to loiter near the gate in case the killer wants to blood warden rush. Survivors doing gens and escaping? So toxic.

  • My backup plan for Dbd is winning an xbox from taco bell, but it's not going well so far..

  • Silly us playing dbd on ps4 pro. Should have gotten a switch! Ugly fog be damned!

  • I still don't understand how players are being matched with others 10 ranks above them. Crossplay should have largely negated this. Pc, windows, ps4, xb1, switch and stadia.. and crossplay couldn't find one purple or red killer? Not to mention the lag.

Mm'ing should be better than ever.. i don't get it.

I'm gonna do more testing. So far in all 3 matches with max deviousness with distressing on I have gotten just above 1,000 points in credit. 1.028 points to be exact. Given that number I can't even guess how broken they have it because it makes no sense.

2 matches had the 75% offering 1 didn't so the offering doesn't seem to matter. Im now gonna try to max deviosness without distressing and see if its the same.

LOL as I load into a match someone brought BPS. We will see what happens here then....

That said though... is it possible to forward this so console players can gain some insight into how stuff like this could possibly happen?

We’re all a little bewildered how what went live for consoles was reviewed and given the okay to go live by whomever is responsible for that decision. I.e. How did that person/team not see all of these problems for 4.3.0 on consoles beforehand?

Lol i wouldn't be surprised if it was the same crew that gave us x-ray auras.

  • DBD twitter has posted they're looking into it. Hopefully its fixed before the weekend ._.

I first tried Dead by Daylight a little before Christmas of last year. My first game on XBOX One was a mess. I was facing higher rank players (because I was playing on my cousin's account), and I was frightened to death about what to do. I hid in a locker against a Huntress for about half the match. (Yes, I was once a Baby Dwight). Because my cousins loved the game so much, I decided to get it. Only I did't own an XBOX One. I only had a Nintendo Switch and a PS4. Ultimately, I got it for Switch because my cousin also owned a Switch and at the time crossplay wasn't an option. My cousin bought the game for Nintendo Switch, and we played together fairly often for a couple weeks.

Over time, I improved at the game and decided to buy all the DLC. Yes, every bit of it. All the way up through Pyramid Head. As rumors of Cross Progression and Crossplay came out, I decided to buy the game a second time. This time for the PS4. The performance was a massive improvement. I quickly made my way up the ranks on both sides, my experience on Switch giving me an advantage. Then crossplay came out, and I decided to once again buy every single piece of DLC. There was a sale, and I figured Cross-Progression may never come.

Since then, I've managed to earn a massive amount of Bloodpoints in the game. Enough to have unlocked every perk in the game. I even P3'd Kate, and got every single perk on her. It took me about two months of playing massive amounts of the game but I did it. I even found a nice SWF group to play with occasionally.

Unfortunately, I ran into a bit of a problem with this latest update. I was pretty excited for it. More map reworks, the Halloween event, and I don't have to worry too much about BP Gains because I don't plan to P3 any killers, and can just focus on getting them the bloodpoints. But that's when I ran into a significant issue: The game just isn't very playable in its current state on PS4. The Framerate drops too often. And I'm not one to make minor complaints about framerate drops because usually I barely notice. But in Dead by Daylight I've noticed it badly.

I've spent more money on this game than probably any other game than the Sims 4. Maybe even more than The Sims 4. I own every killer and survivor on both Switch and PS4 (except Blight + Felix on Switch, because I have not returned to the Switch since moving over to PS4 and have no plans on doing so). I've even bought a couple of cosmetics, even though I've been a bit wary of the prices. "It's supporting the devs," I tell myself. "after all, they keep working on making this game great. Even if I don't always agree with their decisions."

But this last update has been a major disappointment. Not because of the content, but because of how the game runs (or rather, how it doesn't run). It's a struggle to play in a match, and I hesitate to even try because I don't want to put my team at a disadvantage. I'm not sure the team tested this on a PS4 console before sending out the update. Maybe they tried it on a PC with PS4 specs or something like that. But the experience of playing with frame rates this bad is unpleasant to say the least.

DBD is a fantastic game, and it's obvious the devs have put a lot of effort into it. I really hope they'll work out the issues with the framerates in time for us PS4 players to participate in this event. Because it's one thing I've been looking forward to this month. The Halloween Event. I mean halloween and DBD go together like Michael Myers and Stabbing babysitters. It's a match made in the entity's realm.

I'm sure it'll take time for them to work out the issues. But I hope they are making it a priority. And hearing it from them would be nice, given how forgotten we console players can feel at times.

What concerns me is that they took a really long time fixing the event cakes a few months ago.. and that effected everyone. I'm preparing to be excluded from the event at this point. Hope not. We'll see.

  • @Zaibatsu said:

Ok, I know that it is already said... but the PS4 version, after the last update has become unplayable.

I wouldn't say discordance has been destroyed tho. Killers are just gonna have to pay a bit more attention.

As others have said, killers don't hug the walls off the map.. they'll most likely still see it proc.

let me explain, it wastes the killers time and they can still be saved or even get lucky and unhook themselves. Also a lot of dc'ing happens "in the moment" so if a survivor can't dc without getting a timeout but they would have in that moment then there's a good chance they won't suicide after getting hooked since they had a chance to calm down. Also if a survivor is mad enough to rage quit then in the next match if they encounter something that pisses them off they are likely to dc again. the timeout serves as a way to discourage dc'ing and making players clam down so they don't have rage moments back to back.

These are good points. Additionally, sometimes when put into the dying state, the killer won't even pick you up immediately. They'll start chasing after that other guy they saw. Then a whopping 20 seconds later, another teammate picks you up off the ground. No hook!

Hook suicides are waaay more team friendly that immediate rage quit dc. Mainly bc you actually have to be hooked to leave. And hey, who knows. Maybe that 3rd teammate getting you up will restore your will to... ya know, survive.
