I'm thinking about playing solo survivor tomorrow night. Three days after rank reset. I know what is in store for me, but yet I'm still gonna do it.
I'm not even sure i like the game at this point. But I've been playing for 2yrs so I feel i have to. Makes sense!

I still think that the MOST fun build is Confusing Terror Radius Doc.
Monitor & Abuse, Dark Devotion, Calm: Carter’s Notes & Class 2. Other 2 perks can be whatever you want.
So when Static Blast is ready, out of a chase your TR will be 38m.
When you’re in a chase with a survivor your TR jumps up to 54m (this is when Doc should use his Static Blast as Doc has the most coverage at this point).
When Static Blast is on cool down in a chase the TR drops down to 26m.
Out of a chase while Blast is STILL on cool down the TR drops down to a measly 10m. This is when Doc can get really easy hits on survivors not expecting him to get so close so quick.
Survivors in Madness 2 will randomly hear the edge of the TR at odd intervals. Survivors in Madness 3 will hear this constantly, again allowing for easy hits when they’re trying to snap out of it (they think you’re still far enough away to safely snap out of it).
When Doc hits The Obsession, then they will be causing FURTHER confusion running around with a 32m TR, while Doc can be EXTRA sneaky Undetectable for 30 seconds.
This build causes SO MUCH confusion for the survivors because unless they can actually see you then they’re constantly going to have difficulty judging how close or how far Doc is, and even when they DO hear the TR they don’t know if it’s a fake TR due to Calm, or the real TR.
Loads of fun. Great on indoor maps.
I like this calm + m&a build. Even with the brown and yellow calm add ons, you're still getting a smaller TR than m&a Hag.. for the price of 1 perk and 2 add ons.
-
Hag is fun to play as, and usually a hatch game in solo q. The last Hag i vs'd, my team died at 5 gens and the match lasted 3 minutes.
-
I would suggest maybe aim for 100% achievements. That should still keep you busy for awhile.
I've never had the motivation to prestige a character, and I too lately have been wondering what I should focus on. There are 3 achievements tied to prestige i believe? Maybe I'll make a p3 quentin. I like his p3 look, and i don't see him too often.
-
Shouldn't be toooo bad at 17. As others said, use your favorite add on and be sure to make games last as long as possible.
Slug for the 4k when there's only 2 left. Play silly, dropping chases to break pallets and such. I got Doc, GF, and clown one afternoon playing this way.

It would only be cool if it had the system friday the 13th has where you can only hear other people when they´re near you
Even proximity chat would be awful. Talk about killing the immersion.
"Hey bruh gimmie dat flashlight u aint using it! Turn off my music? Bruh F u. Heal me bish! What u doin totems for? Scared of noed? Pus$y! Hey! Come over here! Hey! Hey!.... Hey! Dude! Hey!"
Without a mute, id quit survivor.

Anyone play the hit and run playstyle? I wanna play mindless GF. Maybe something like pgtw/nurses/sloppy/discordance

I totally agree with you. I find that as a survivor who is rank 8, im always paired with a similar ranked killer and 14-20 survivors who aren't good and always unhook in front of killer without BT.
As a killer of similar rank, I'm always paired with 3/4 man sfw teams that pop gens fast and are toxic trolls towards me.
It makes the game unfun alot. Part of the game is hiding and blending in but not at the expense of letting eveyone else die. I also hate when a teamer DC and his teammate goes with them leaving the other ones screwed.
Tunnelers and campers also really suck.
The last time I played yolo and rescued the "if this guy dies, i get hatch" guy, that bastid died anyway.. and the killer let me bleed out for my troubles. Solo q almost feels like we should get a check in the mail each month just for participating. GG!

I'm kinda given flash backs of Final Fantasy 11. It was an MMO like World of Warcraft and it was available for PC, playstation and xbox. As the years went on they could make the graphics better but the consoles were literally holding it back. I would not be surprised if that happens with DBD.
I miss FFXI. I quit in 2010, but to date it's probably the most enjoyable game ive ever played (on pc.. cant speak for console).

Generally i just sigh like this at
- Ormond
- Haddonfield
- Corn maps
- Midwich
Ormond is terrible in every way. Every pallet is safe, the map is huge, i can't see scratch marks half the time etc.
Haddonfield is terrible because of those damn fences, so many safe pallets etc.
Corn maps are annoying because i can't see a damn thing through the corn.
Midwich is the worst designed map i have ever seen and i just literally dodge that map when i see it.
My last solo q match was midwich. I thought ehh let's see how it goes. My team got a whopping 2 gens done against a baby myers.
I loop him or over 2 min at the end.. stun him 3x or something. Im downed. He's so butthurt about this (a 4k) that he just let's me bleed out on the floor for 4 minutes lol.
I never question why people just stop playing this game. Maps like that are brutal for casuals.

How? It doesnt even have a chat and its casual AF. I dont think there is a way people could be taking the game so seriously they become toxic.
My bad.. I was casually suggesting an alternative to unwind with after work that's a lot less stressful. I didn't make that clear.

Not sure how long you've been playing, but this is nothing to be jealous of, BBQ was in Shrine two weeks ago, just got Devour from Shrine, and Pop I think I got two months ago before I even touched killer. I got it for Pig cuz I had just bought the DLC
You will get ranks closer to your own if you enable crossplay. Queue times will be better as well. You'll have a much bigger pool to work with.
-
DBD PS4 dlc is currently on sale. I think the plague dlc is on sale for like $5. Red ranks are sweaty. You need an ace up your sleeve. Give in to deliciousness.
-
Lightwight, Urban evasion and Iron will. If they still find ya.. GL!
-
I think now I'll just run detective's hunch all the time. This renegade hex business sounds messy.
-
Ya definitely slug the 3rd and hope the 4th has a bold yolo type of playstyle. I got cute and death hooked #3 and it cost me adept myers.

I really don't understand Killer mains lmao.
They're always like "DO BONES LOL"
But at the same time don't want there to be a totem counter. It's like... do you WANT Survivors to do bones, or not??? This is why the whole "Do Bones" argument doesn't sit right with me.
---
This scenario is a perfect example of why NOED should be changed.
The ones that are most affected are the ones that do most of the work during a trial or succeed at distracting the killer most of the game. (Lets call them the MVP) The MVP has no chance of doing totems since the Killer won't leave them alone, and then when all gens are done, they get downed and camped and die on first hook.
But it's not the Killer's fault for running a cheap perk, it's the other survivor's fault for not using the time that the MVP is giving them, to consciously run around the map, taking time away from gens in order to make sure all 5 totems are gone.
What is the MVP supposed to do?? GIVE THEMSELVES to the Killer so that they have a chance of searching for totems before endgame?? I don't think so!
I saw an idea of having 5 lit candles in the basement and each fire represents a totem being untouched. This would be a cool addition for a counter.
I really like this 5 lit candles in the basement idea. It's information, but subtle information. You have to seek it out. Good info for those looking for info- those uninterested would most likely not even notice it.
-
Tapp has a hunch that this won't be too problematic.
-
Welcome to the welcome centre!
-
I'm a happy ps4 crossplay user. It's also not even noon on the us west coast.
Crossplay has been a solo survivor buff for me. My teammates have been mostly solid (purple). Queue times have been impressive.
As for killer, I don't think I've seen a rank range that has exceeded +/- 5. This whole crossplay business may have just killed mmr ever returning.
-
But if im always exhausted, doesn't that mean my girlfriend will cheat on me more? Maybe even with my dad?

Have you seen those totem spawns that i posted? Only blind person wouldn't see it.
I think they meant that if all totem spawns looked like lerys/hawkins/midwich/saloon, some of these would just never be found. Or only found by those invested enough to memorize all the others.
-
I'd personally rather run all the sc alternatives. Kindred, Bond, Inner strength and Empathy would all give you more bang for your buck.
As far as Bond being equal to SC time usage wise, people often dismiss that the bond user is now at a gen (most likely) with that other person, and now the two of you can bang out that gen even faster (especially with PT).
Self care is just ok.. it's a dream come true for any killer with nurse's calling. Inner strength not so much.
-
So step 1. Stand at pallet, get hit by killer, hit killer back.
Step 2. Run to the nearest locker. Head on.
Step 3. Run to a hook and get hooked. Get unhooked and run to killer. Hope ds procs. Could also try to repeat #1 or #2 here.
-
Every time I find myself injured, running to someone else who's injured, I try to heal them first. I want that wounded healer trophy..
The last time i tried this, the survivor was so offended, they just ran away injured. Every time i got near them, they fled. We ended up as the last two survivors in the trial; I BT her in the basement w we'll make it, (killer far away) and she STILL fled from me. It was weird.

Probably never. Solo survivors might get buffed to get up near SWF level....somehow. If that happens they wont have any excuses for not buffing killer anymore.
Make kindred base kit for solo survivors. SWF will still get telepathy as their 5th perk, but it's a start.
-
My guess would be no. Technically it's a hex regressing a gen, not the killer damaging a gen. I could be wrong!
-
A couple months ago, I was playing as Hag against a non toxic swf and managed to 3 gen them.
3 survivors and I danced around these 3 gens for what seemed like forever. I finally down them all and put down my controller, just relieved to have slugged them. My gf who is watching yells out: "He might have unbreakable!"
My tiny hag brain went for a walk at this point and boom! hit with DS. They raise one another, and about 15 seconds, all 3 of them escape via hatch w key. I am dumb af. Sure won't do that again.

@RossSama said:
I make it a point to do 2-3 bones per match and my team still gets hit by noed all the time lmao
Solo queue survivor is always #########. That's just how dbd is designed. They don't let us comm with our teammates and we have to sacrifice our meta perks for information perks like small game, kindred, alert, bond, etc.
And the one game you get pissed off and make sure to check and cleanse all five totems by yourself, killer won't be running noed and you'll just be wasting a ton of your time that could've been used for gens while your team is getting beaten up lol
I agree. Sadly, if you make it your mission as solo to cleanse 3-5 totems, there's a decent chance everyone is going to die- and with 1 gen remaining.
So there you are, running kindred and Detectives hunch and.. hoping for the best? Maybe living?
As others have said, it's almost not even worth it. I aim for 2.. but most likely someone is gonna get hit w noed and they get to be that round's sacrificial lamb.
-
I see everything freddy:
Discordance
Tinkerer
Nurse's calling
PGTW
-
I swear a lot when I play this, but I enjoy it. I never really feel 'excited' to play, but once I start, I'll play for 6 hours.
Rationing is good.. I only play on weekends to keep it fresh. Playing less also helps you stay in purple/green.. which is the sweet spot imo. Just turn it on, have some vodka, and hope for the best.
-
I mostly just run builds related to whatever challenge I'm doing in the archives. I've found solo survivor is more fun if you don't care about escaping.
DS and DH don't always save you from doom. Sometimes matches just go to #########.

They don’t have a new map because 2 realms had their graphics completely updated, so the team was working on that instead
I watched tru3 stream the new maps and I honestly forgot they had changed after 10min or so. I appreciate the effort, but some bizarre mad scientist alchemy lab could've been really cool. Oh well, maybe it'll come later on.
-
I've heard that console killers suffer no penalty for turning off crossplay.. can this be true?
Are there really that many console survivors going out of their way to disable crossplay? I would think survivors would want games asap.

I have never felt the need to run meta builds. I just haven't. I rarely come across facecampers. I rarely come across tunellers. And I'm not a perk-abusing moron that thinks DS exists to give free gen time so long as there's a locker handy.
That one game where you're tunneled off the hook right next to the exit gate, and just happened to not only have brought ds, but have it proc.. these moments are few and far between for me.
I have played 9-10 games in a row without having ds proc once. But that one game where it's the difference between you escaping or not.. man you're glad to have it.
I like it's safety net, but ds most of the time just feels like a wasted slot. But I'm also not exactly an OoO user, either.
Idk i say use fun perks as long as you can get away with it.

Nurses
BBQ
Pop
[Insert perk you like]
The first three are always in my core ph builds because it actually suprises me how many people i hit OR downed with nurses. BBQ is for the bp and pop is a great gen regression perk.
This build is so solid you can go crazy on the last perk slot. I ussually go for overcharge for more value when i use pop. The 4 th perk slot you can bring a lot of different perks and it still works.
Would you still take overcharge over one of these?
I'm all ears / discordance / infectious / corrupt ?
I don't prestige so id personally take off bbq, but i think my ideal build is in there somewhere.

I don’t see how this is supposed to work when I keep getting teamed up with idiots and ppl so new they won’t do anything other than hide on lockers until the birds come or stay still enough to attract the birds. Then they decide to follow you while you’re trying to disarm traps. I’m sure my MMR score sucks.
I think you're supposed to play the hero role, put the team on your back, and then once you're the last alive, have the killer grief you in some form while murdering you for your efforts. This has been my experience from time to time.

HC would definitely have to be 110%.

And I'm not talking from the point of a new player that just bought this game and started playing it.
I'm talking from the point of a red rank survivor(rank 4-2 at most) and purple rank as killer(8-5 at most), 1200 hours in the game. The new matchmaking is making all of the games BORING, boring because as a survivor I often encounter rank 15-20 killers that, sadly, can't catch me unless they chase me for several minutes, gens flying by way too easy and escaping in pretty much 95% of the matches...
As a killer in the last 11 matches I've double pipped 10 times, the survivors barely have any idea how to loop and juke and etc...
It's come to the point where simply is not fun to play either side because there is no challenge to it... As much as I hated it, at least the old system put me against tough survivors as killer(from where I can only learn of) and as a survivor against good and competent killers where I can put to the test my looping skills...
It's just not fun playing the game knowing that as a survivor you're going to escape pretty much every time, with minimal resistance and as a killer you're 3k-ing and 4k-ing all the time, again with pretty much no effort...
The devs said that the new MMR should place you somewhere after you played like 10 matches, to me it seems it's completely random...With a mixture of new players that barely know the game and some guys with 1k-2k hours of gameplay... It's not okay and definitely should not work that way...
The new MMR is a total BUST in my opinion...And I don't think I am the only one who feels the same way as I do...
You should start running meme builds and play while drinking heavily. That should spice things up.

I play on weekends.. so basically i dont play, then feel like playing, then visit the forums at work, and then don't feel like playing.
-
Red ranks going against rank 20's is just cruel.
-
I haven't played since the mmr update, but I think I'm just gonna run around with some sort of anti potato build.
Maybe borrowed time and detective's hunch and just give up on escaping. At least I'll get a decent score with these perks.. (I still have cakes.. oy)

Haha great idea
-
This is weird because isn't there an early challenge to blind a killer?
-
So do most PH players run PGTW these days? I don't have PH yet, but I'm working out a build for the near future.
-
Hmm.. I think I'm gonna try some killer adept trophies this weekend.

I like them. The extra bloodpoints are nice, and some challenges get you out of your comfort zone.
