  • Sounds like the way to go for killer is just ignore these things, and just let survivors be more off task. And glowing!

  • Talk about a solution to 'genrush' complaints. With all of the survivor crown searching, killers are gonna get base corrupt intervention. :D

  • So the event is basically an ugly cosmetic and escape cakes and balloons. Mhmm

  • Played killer for the first time since rank reset and ran into a group like this last saturday.

It was swf (how many idk) one of their names was something to the effect of "crushinDBDn00bs". Not even subtle really. They finished 1 gen and wiped. Sometimes works, other times eh not so much. gg

  • I agree about feeling underwhelmed by some of these. I just got to book 3 and the first survivor challenge is "safely unhook 12 different people" ugh.

Kick a gen 50 times? Eh just kinda comes off as uncreative.

  • Something odd happened last night.. and I'm not saying this sarcastically. I brought detective's hunch, cleansed 2 totems and.. forgot about it.

At the end of the match, we saw the hag brought noed. No noed proc't. I had actually been involved in a solo game where all 5 totems were cleansed. It was amazing. Hunch also helps finding gens on the new map.. just sayin.

  • The issue i have with leader is the same as better together.. it just doesn't show up enough. Could be good with swf, tho.

For solo Q, I much prefer prove thyself. That extra 5 seconds sometimes is the difference between the gen getting done. Makes for some dramatic gameplay at times.

  • I've abandoned SC at this point and really only use IS, bond, empathy or a medkit.

  • While there are noticeable bugs here and there, none of them significantly decrease the fun I'm having.

I had fun playing the new map as Freddy on saturday, and I had fun escaping the new map as Zarina on sunday.

It was cool actually waiting 3-4 minutes for killer matches again.. I like that more people are playing. Looking forward to the event and might even skip work friday.

  • I still need the Adam achievement where you unhook yourself and escape.. might give it a go tonight!

I usually don't chance it in normal play.

  • On Wednesday night playing PST, I was getting survivor matches in 15-20 seconds. Hope that still holds up tonight.

I know this is a joke, but I find Urban is extremely useful for stealthing around a gen when the Killer is nearby and with Pyramid Head's 'Rite's of Judgment', I see another useful application for the Perk. It's not the Perk that's bad, it's the user.

Ya this perk can be pretty useful for confusing the killer. It gets a bad rap tho, as 90% of its users aren't doing this.

  • Typically one will wear black, find a quiet place, and surround themselves with photos of happier times while grieving.

  • I play both sides and find myself playing survivor more. It's just nice to only be 25% responsible as opposed to 100%. But I also played nothing but killer for the first year, so I'm enjoying the change of pace.

  • I know some get worried when they see a Bill, but I'm much more nervous about my chances of survival when steve is around.

Steve in a sailor suit might as well be the killer's henchmen..

  • It's good that you recognize you're suffering from OCD. The next step will be to devise a plan on how to properly treat it.

You're going to have to set some boundaries for yourself at some point- to where you can compartmentalize this game, and not let it consume you.

This is as intense and engaging as any game I've ever played really. Do your best to work with a professional to devise a structured plan. Gl to ya

  • In 4 out 6 survivor matches last night, a survivor used a map offering. I've never seen that before.

  • Doctor is just getting so common. It kind of makes me want to play as him less. I booted up survivor last night and the first 2 killers were doc.

First match was coldwind.. we managed to 3 gen ourselves. Can't remember the last time i heard that much screaming. Some really struggle with snap out of it. 3 of us got out. Fun game.

Second match.. Silent hill. I ditched him at least 4x but he ended up getting the 4k. Good level for him if ya know how to get around.

  • I'm starting to think they should have just released PH, cheryl, standalone lisa, and the SH theme bundle for $15 or $20.

It's normal to dislike certain killers in this game. But don't expect the devs to change certain killers just because some people don't enjoy going against them, otherwise they'd be forced to change pretty much every killer.

The Doctor's detection ability is simply one of the aspects that make him an actual, strong killer. Doesn't mean it's a cheap trick and that people who use the ability aren't smart killers. It's just one of his powers that make him stand out from other killers.

Not only that, but because of his unique detection ability, more varied perk loadouts are encouraged.

I use distressing + unnerving presence (not original) but still 2 perks i probably would have never used on a different killer.

  • I might run detective's hunch solely in case I get this map. AND urban evasion! Look out world.

  • If i see it's a doctor or hear the TR, I run in the opposite direction until i hit a ######### wall. Next I hope there is a gen near said wall.

  • It's pretty vindictive. What is basically happening is that some killers are seeing this skin, know you really wanted it, know you bought it, and know you want to have a fun time with it.

They see putting the kibosh on this as a challenge i guess. Its like a griefing opportunity presented on a silver platter.

Lisa's have a huge target on their backs. Why? Cause you really wanted to play as Lisa. I don't condone it, just imo.

  • Daily gifts leading up to bloodhunt? Ahh im logging in everyday now i think.

  • This woman looks like Nancy after a few stints in jail and a possible meth problem.

Trivia! Which is more expensive? Lisa dlc or actual meth?

  • Thanks for these threads everyone. I haven't had to read my book at work all day.

    Run detective's hunch, yo.

  • Detectives hunch might help reveal these invisible gens you speak of.

  • Windows of opportunity should help to not feel so helpless. I'm looking forward to it.

  • With the coming graphics update later in the year, I would think console would get a performance boost just by default? To support it. At least i'd hope. I don't have too many issues on ps4 pro.

  • Spine chill is fine. I even like it at tier 1.

  • Ya to add to the high stakes element, it might be neat if instead of 2 standard boxes rng at start, 4 total are spawned (one still being basement).

With one of them having a guaranteed green key haha. Then once all 4 are opened, the secret stash acts like the hatch and reveals itself.

This way it takes longer to open all chests and no one will know where it's even at. Might give struggling killers an extra opportunity to get some momentum.

  • Interesting idea. Hitting 3 back to back to back overcharge skillchecks won't be easy for a lot of people.

As solo survivor, I'd be annoyed that my teammates are injuring themselves for prizes.

As killer, an injured health state with a noise indication sounds nice. Especially when it has little to do with gens.

Might be a cool addition. But as a solo survivor, it's rare that I feel my team has too much time on their hands. Interesting nonetheless.

  • Ya what DS said. Against huntress and deathslinger, zig zag like you're starring in the sequel to apocalypto.

  • Kinda regretting passing on I'm all ears on the shrine last month.. oh well.

I'm thinking of M&A, Infectious fright + Corrupt. 4th being whatever entity decides to bless or mock me with.

  • I just wish they'd fix survivors levitating next to the hook, as opposed to them actually being impaled by the damn thing.

  • Sort of. I've seen more killers do some spinning thing where they'll just stand in the middle of a map and spin in circles while gens fly by. Then once gens are done, they continue doing nothing or its full on noed a go-go time.

I did get into a 3 gen situation on saloon with one other survivor last night. The killer gave up on patrolling pretending to be afk, shockingly became not afk while i was on gen, then i looped him for 2min..

Of course last survivor did last gen during this time ya? Nah, just waited for hatch. I got 1 hooked but as i died, the killer downed her haha. Grats on the 4k gg!

  • Good lord. People are so traumatized by urban evasion

  • Instead of separate Ranked and Casual game modes, they could introduce two modes that use the same people.

Quick match: Ignores rank. This mode will match you or your swf with quickest possible match.

Ranked: Guaranteed to match you within +/- 6 rank levels of your rank. This mode has no time limit to matchmake.

So a rank 10 killer could launch Ranked mode, and still be matched with a 4 man swf of ranks queing Quickplay, with their ranks being 10, 14, 7 and 16 (or whatever).

Feel free to poke holes in this.

  • Good stuff from Doddle. I would say, in general, just always be doing something. Gens, totems, chests, healing others. Stay busy. It'll help you pip, and may aid in your team escaping.

Also, try to loop for as long as possible. Even if you get butchered in the end, seeing those gens pop around you is endorphin city.

  • On ps4, there are two killers I am practically guaranteed to see if i play 8 or so matches.

    Ghostface and Doctor.

I would say Hag and Nurse for most rare.

As someone who plays Hag, I kinda love that.

  • The only one I've given up on is better together. I have had multiple survivors walk right past me and my gen while running better together. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of survivors think we are not better together.

I was a killer main, but I switched to survivor. Playing as killer is so stressful. Most of the times you just have to wait until survivor makes a mistake. And if you make one or two mistakes you are probably going to lose. Almost before every game I wonder if I really want to go into the match. What if I go again vs a very good SWF and will have to sweat my ass off.

Not so long ago I switched to survivor. Playing as one is so less stressful and easier. But often times I play against killers, which only want to make the match for survivors as bad as possible. Today I played one match vs spirit, which camped Claudette on her first hook, and later every next survivor. ("Tunnel of love" included.) No one t-bagged her or anything. When 2 survs left (me and Claudette), spirit slugged her for 4k. She found me, hooked me and hit me like 5 times. Entity saw ######### was going on and gave me 4%. I went into the locker, she waited 50 seconds and later slugged me. She hooked us when we nearly bleed out and after nodding her head like 15 times. In the endgame chat we only saw "Ez".

I played many toxic games, but Dbd is the worst one. People just want to unload their negative emotions and make the match as ######### as possible for the other side.

Do you think it's because dbd is a more personal type of pvp? As opposed to just shooting red names in the distance? That people feel they can 'own' people more?

Or more of a general frustration with mm'ing? Maybe both.

My last survivor session, I had several teammates working with the killer to try and get me killed. I feel your pain. I'm not sure it gets more toxic than that.

  • Well, I got mine 'free' via ps+, so i kind of had to play it. Still not thrilled about this arrangement. They dangled this shiny toy in front of me, and now I've spent over $50 on it. Genius!

I enjoy the cat and mouse dynamic as well. I find that drinking while i play helps me keep some perspective. Like, ok i just got one hooked, but at least im drinking.

Solo survivor is sometimes fun and killer is sometimes fun, so that's why i keep coming back! :D

  • The basement is your punishment for trying to get better at looping the shack.

  • An easy way to spot these people (on xbox and ps4) is if their gamertag actually references dbd. This tells you they were fully on board with dbd before creating the account.

I ran into someone named something like CheekyClaudette11 and they were verrry good at looping for a rank 16. But whatev, they aren't gonna have a ton of perks most likely.

Honestly, I haven't seen that many red ranks paired with me (at least a month or two ago when I was playing killer). It might be because I was in green ranks, which maybe has a bigger pool of players to match with. Could also be the time of day I play, which is very late lol. Yet, when I play red rank survivor, I might get paired with green or yellow rank killers (green ranks more often, though). It's almost making me lose my nerve, because survivors will also be the rank of the killer and it's just a pain to die on first/second hook or maybe I get tunneled. It's that or maybe my team is green/purple rank and the killer doesn't stand a chance. Sick of this crap.

Sorry about the matchmaking system, man. Maybe play around midnight if you can. Maybe the pool of killers will be so low that you're the only available killer of your rank and get matched correctly LOL. I have no clue how it works, tbh.

Ive always assumed that playing during peak weekend hours would give you the best chance of meeting the +/- of 6 rule. I would think the presence of the most generous amount of killers and survivors would allow for closer mm'ing results.

I might be a wacko, but i think the sweet spot for killer is on sat + sun during 12pm - 5pm. Mm'ing usually seems good enough and survivors mostly chill types.

  • I guess they couldn't get rights to syphon filter.

Doc is a really versatile killer in terms of builds. You can go for different blast shape, extra effects, longer range blast, low/high terror radius builds, slowdown builds, all that stuff. Just experiment to feel out what stuff you like, because there's a lot of good stuff that can work on Doc.

Also, another thing that you might already know but is crucial on Doc, is that you shouldn't be shocking all the time. There will be good pallets to play, and there will be pallets where it's better to just try to run it through brute force style so you don't waste time or mindgame yourself instead.

It's cool you're picking him up though, I'm sure you'll have a blast (no pun intended).

Are you a fan of unnerving presence? Which add ons do you find most effective? I feel like i may need to use +blast more.

In b4, they'll release a teaser that will feature a honeybee crawling on top on a xenomorph egg, with a red balloon attached to its leg, and a hockey mask.

There you go, good luck finding out who the new killer is gonna be

Spoiler.. it's all 4. 4 new killers, 4th anniversary. Pretty obvious, really. The dlc will also cost $32.

Not saying it's a conspiracy but what's the point of playing that match out?

Well, 'the point' is a pretty deep question. Generally, I'd say non adept reasons. Points and pipping and stuff.

But what's the point of playing at all? For fun? Bully others? Quarantine? A good scare? Murder fantasies? Could be all the above, or none.

I did go 1/5 on adept trophy attempts recently tho, so I feel your pain.

1 … 5 6 7 8 9 … 13
