In theory survivors would only have to spend 135 seconds on gens and they would all be done. And that wasn't even all 4 survivors on one gen lol, it was probably only two honestly. But no, gens are fine. Just get better at the game lol, why wasn't he using Corrupt Pop Discordance and Thrilling Tremors I mean clearly he doesn't know how to play smh.... Don't cry about gen times if you don't use x perks every single game! Self righteous killer mains sigh
-
Idk, I'll have games with no slowdown perks and I'll get an easy 4K or something with maybe 1/2 gens done, and other games will be more like that Otz video where I just can't do enough to slow down the game. Granted they did have 2 fast toolboxes and Prove Thyself, but I feel like you can't really say "games at this rank are like this" because it varies heavily a lot of the time
-
There really is no way to please everyone. That's all I can say about that
-
No FnAf. FnAf CrInGe lol
It would be cool tbh. I feel like a lot of people think of FNaF as cringe just because of the community and not because the actual gameplay, and certainly not the lore. It's a bit like Fortnite in that regard imo

The cooldown for his swing is actually enough to hit a survivor because they still won’t be able to use pallets or vaults if you shock them. The devs also said they are going to make the timer shorter.
I think you should do the math or do actual research because it’s confirmed that your 3 seconds delay is enough to hit a survivor while they are shock. I don’t know where you got that information that it was ”2.5” seconds from.
The 2.5 seconds he's talking about is the shock debuff that survivors get, his math is right. The way it works is you shock, it takes 1 second to register like always, and then survivors can't interact for 2.5 seconds, for a total of 3.5 seconds from shock to end of debuff. Doc however is unable to do anything for 3 seconds, which means there's half a second to get the hit in. And if they're at a pallet your lunge is not going to beat the throw. But hopefully they're going to change the 3s delay to something a bit more lenient.

I think this Ruin change is going to backfire horribly on BHVR. Regardless of whether you like the Ruin change or not, I've seen a lot of killers on the forums saying they're going to do a lot more tunneling, slugging, and camping. When I was a survivor, I didn't enjoy Ruin. But I enjoyed it a lot more than being decamped by a Leatherface.
Killers whose priority is winning are going to get a lot meaner, or just quit. Both of these will make the game less fun for survivors. And T/S/C is something devs can't really do anything about. Survivors will complain in the forums and report killers, but there won't be anything done.
TL;DR Old Ruin wasn't fun for either side, but removing it without providing alternative options is going to make the game less fun for everyone.
Is the title a Witcher 3 reference?

Yes! Ruin is gone crabrave pogchamp pepecheer, finally the rank 20 survivors can still miss their skillchecks!

Naturally. But if that's the case, those who can't play at a high level will derank to a place where they're more comfortable. That is the point of a ranking system, after all.
I agree with you 100% on this but there's still the undeniable fact that matchmaking hardly ever functions correctly lol. I'm a rank 8 killer and I consistently get ranked with full red rank teams, and I've also seen many green ranks and even yellow rank killers paired with red rank survivors as well. But there's just always something to complain about isn't there

You have to realize why so many people actually use it. You say it's because of the emblem - no, that's just not correct, and I do not believe that that is what you guys actually think. It's gens. It always has been. They are simply too fast. By the time you get to a gen on a bigger map, it's done - no skill involved, you cannot do a thing about it. They just pop way too fast in the early game, there's nothing you can do - you can't pressure gens if you can't even get to them in time to pressure them. The solution to that? Ruin. You don't nerf a fix to a problem without fixing the problem itself.
You have to sit back, and look at why it's actually used - and fix why it's used, before removing the bandaid. If you get rid of that bandaid before the antiseptic has done it's job, you'll get an infection - and that is what is happening right now. You need to address the gen speed, and then rework Ruin accordingly.
You're telling them stuff they already know. They just don't want to fix it correctly, it doesn't make it fun for survivors!

Here some words of an random bypassing ex doc main.
I saw many ppl in twitter, youtuber videos of some youtubers and here talking about doc's delayed shock. I am not talking about the 3 sec cooldown, I agree that this should get reduced because its just annoying. When you shock, the survivor will just get shocked kinda 1 second later. Ppl think that this is bad and might cause doc to be even worse but the truth is that is a genius 500IQ move from the devs. I know how could I say something like that??
So the problem at the old doc was, with the shock mode you are slowed down plus the extra slowdown from charging your power. So if you shock a survivor with the old Doc you have to switch stances to hit them after a shock and that costs alot of distance to you cause of the missing movementspeed. Thats why you end up running another loop to catch up again and this will be a endless circle. With the new doc that stays at 4,6 M/s this problem is getting fixed KINDA, you still struggle at some loops but on most of the loops like autohaven car pallets are not a big deal to you anymore.
The delayed shock gives you the extra time to shock WAY earlier and THEN to catch up because you speed up after you got slowed down from the charging action faster.
So basicly what happens with the new doc shock: Shock charge=90% movementspeed --> 3 sec after charging and 1 sec shock delay survivor gets schocked --> your full movementspeed is already back and you can position yourself to get ready for a hit.
I hope my wording doesn't confuse that much and you guys understood kinda what I meant, if not feel free to ask. Last conclusion, new doc shock is not that bad and this MIGHT be not that bad as many ppl think. But I still agree that the 3 sec cooldown sucks and after you snap out you will go back to T1 is a HUGE nerf to doc to is stall potential and his addons. And the shock range is way to small still, the 10% buff is to low aswell.
People going back to Madness 1 does seem a bit ridiculous, almost makes you not want to shock them to begin with lol. But I think the aura only shows up when they go up a madness tier, and snapping out now sets you back 2 tiers, so I think it's just a quality of life thing to give people more aura reads when they shock. Also the 1 second shock lag time has been a thing for quite some time. I've never complained about it myself, it just gives you more time to get a hit in. In fact without this 1 second delay, if they kept the 3 second cooldown then you wouldn't even be able to hit before they can interact again, which is just ridiculous and would literally break Doctor
-
Just make it not a hex and it'll actually be useful as a "late game slowdown perk". We all know totems do not last into the late game and I really think it's ridiculous they'd use that as an excuse. So either remove the Hexedness (?) or just fix totem spawns to begin with, which is something that everyone has been asking for
-
I haven't noticed anything ridiculous since dedicated servers came on. If anything I've actually been getting grabs much easier lol, I got two grabs off of a pallet and a window I think yesterday. But I also haven't played today so maybe your issue is just a today thing. Idk

The only problem I've ever had with Ruin is people getting off gens to go on a totem hunt. It slows the game down more than just working through Ruin

I haven't really noticed a difference, although I did grab someone off a window yesterday lol. Idk if that had anything to do with dedicated servers but it was nice
-
Self Care is infinitely better with Botany Knowledge lol and people don't like to waste the two perk slots. Tbh those two perks along with fast vault perks would be a nice setup; heal on your own terms without bugging anyone else at 92% speed, or 98% if the killer is looking in your direction (assuming the killer doesn't have any heal slowdown), and if you don't get to finish healing/killer keeps chasing you before you can heal, spine chill resilience combo will help you to loop while you're still injured.

I think that's the reason the devs have purposefully delayed the shock hitting the survivor (when they scream) so it's a second nerf following the first one ..
The 1 second delay on the shocks effect after shock therapy has been a thing you know. As of right now it gives Doc time to switch back, and gives him almost the full 2.5 seconds to get the hit in before they can drop the pallet. Now it's half a second, so like @Lucama said you're not gonna be able to get that hit anymore unless you're right on top of them. It should at least be reduced to 2 seconds imo as it would take 1 second to switch stance and 1 second to switch back. They probably won't though considering Doc is a killer after all lol

Regarding the first point this is what I'm hoping but I doubt it.
Right now it's...
- Change Stance
- Use Shock Therapy to Shock Survivor
- Change Back
- Hit
Now it will be
- Shock survivor
- Wait 3 seconds
- Swing
I'm really hoping the 3 seconds is when you start charging Shock Therapy and not after it hits. If it's the latter the power will be garbage. I'm referring to when you're at a pallet or vault btw otherwise I see no point to shock This is assuming the 3 second thing is legit anyways.
The cooldown for Static Blast makes no sense though because at the moment being in Therapy Mode helps build up madness with static field. Now you have to rely on being near a survivor every 60 seconds or just doing it individually per survivor which waste so much time as killer. Also going to consider the 3 second slowdown or what ever is to warn survivors he's about to use shock blast so they can go in a locker before he uses it. Madness effects aren't even worth it the only thing you really want is survivors screaming or to stun them at a vault or pallet for a hit.
Really hoping I'm wrong and but right now I'm feeling pretty disappointed and regretting thinking the changes would be good. I want to be wrong. Just waited so long for a Doc rework is all I had pretty high expectations.
From the designer notes, "The Doctor's base movement speed is still 4.6 m/s (the "regular" movement speed for most Killers), but he can now use Shock Therapy more easily as he doesn't have to switch stances to gain access to it. So we've added a brief pause after using Shock Therapy before he can attack or use another ability."
It just says a brief pause however I've heard 3 seconds multiple times so.

If the CD is from the time the shock finishes charging, Doc will have .5 seconds to hit a survivor who can’t interact with things, which is pretty much what he had with stance changing before. If the CD is from the time the shock hits, the survivor will be able to interact with things for .5 seconds before Doc can stop them, making it 100% useless to shock someone during a chase.
Regardless, .5 seconds is a tiny window, and, as someone who’s ok using his power in a chase now, his power being weak in a chase is one of the fundamental problems with him...and that’s very blatantly being kept in his rework.
With stance switch you had the full 2.5 seconds to hit them. It takes 1 second after shock for the effect to come in, and it takes 1 second to switch stance, which you can do while waiting for the effect, giving you the full time to get that hit in. So basically you get 1/5th the time AND you can't hit people for 3 seconds isn't that wonderful

@DocFabron said:
It may not be as bad as we think. It may take into account from the time you shock, to the time it takes to get impacted by the shock.
The cooldown is more than likely the compensation for not having to switch stances.
The considerably slower movement speed while charging up the shock should be the compensation imo. And yeah assuming the 3 second timer starts when you get the shock therapy attack off then that leaves you half a second to hit them before they can do anything. I really hope it's not as bad as we think though.
-
@Shirokuro said:
I'm quite sure they'll lessen the cooldown during/after the ptb if it really is as bad as it sounds. Everything else about the doctor update looks alright.
I'm really hoping they do because I mained Doc from the 2nd game I played lol, but without Ruin at red ranks it was always a rough game and usually only a 1-2k. Which is expected for a killer that isn't high tier, but is also getting nerfed! Lol
-
@Dustin said:
My main gripe is Static Blast slows you for what ever reason and madness effects are still garbage. What purpose is there to slow you down during Static Blast? It's not like you're going to use it mid chase unless you switch targets and if you see someone you're likely to use shock therapy instead. For some reason though shock therapy (supposedly) has a 3 second delay before you can swing.
Like this whole change looks like why they changed Freddy except Doctor isn't even gettting anything good in the process aside from a single quality of life change being the stance change.
The issue isn't that Doc is annoying though it's that BHVR does a poor job introducing new players to this game. Yet in the notes they constantly brought up Doc being annoying and frustrating vs new players.
"Quality of life change" lol I mean sure you don't have to switch stances now but instead you can't hit for 3 seconds, which is 2 seconds longer than stance change took. So really it's quality of survivor life change tbh

It seems like my initial assessment of the goal of DBD to become a haunted house tour was correct. The survs get a spooky thing to chase them, the spooky thing makes a noise or pops up from nowhere from time to time, but realistically there's no actual concern for the survivor to ever not be in control of the situation.
Lmaoo yeah basically. They even added a Clown 🤡
@beatddb said:
They completely removed his chase / power synergy, now a doctor cant do anything against a looping survivor but take the loop.
Well it was annoying for the survivors when they got hit so naturally it got nerfed. Next he can't hit while static blast is on cooldown lol
-
I mean if they know Ruin is used in 80% of games they should also know totems don't stay up for 80% of matches. Just unrealistic thinking on their part
-
@Lucama said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/118159/lets-nerf-a-killer-thats-already-mid-low-tier
Also there was a leak for how long the cooldown after Shock Therapy is, 3s. That means Docs get .5s to swing before the debuff wears off and you're eating a pallet to the noggin.
That's what I was talkin about when I said "even longer cooldown to shock therapy" lol but yep, very fun! He'll be so fun to play against because what can he do but m1?
-
Really just depends on the survivors if you're playing as the higher tier killers like Nurse Spirit etc. But Clown, Legion, Bubba etc. Are just extremely low tier. They're not going to be able to do good against decent survivors without Ruin. But they don't care about killers so I can see why they would be ignorant to this
-

If you think it's bad here, then you don't want to look at the Steam forums right now.

I mean honestly ranks don't really matter at this point. You'll be paired with a full rank 1 team and they'll be complete pepegas not knowing how to hit a skill check, or you'll be paired up with a rank 20 team that loops the killer for 5 hours
-
Corrupt is probably going to officially take the place of Ruin now as it's going to be easier to patrol gens for the first 2 minutes and hopefully get some momentum before you've got nothing, but it's better than running Ruin doesn't even do anything for the first 2 minutes now, let alone at all If survivors are working on gens. And now that Ruin doesn't affect their inability to hit great skill checks, then nobody is gonna be running around looking for the totem. If it doesn't get cleansed right away, which is like 40% of the time
-
But that's what non SWF players want, they can't allow them to have fun
-
I mean you could just not report people for farming because that's just not cool

@BadMrFrosty said:
... 3 second CD. So wait - shock, and then... survivor stuns you with and/or drops pallet. Shock effect is 2 seconds, cooldown is 3.. that means a survivor can recover from shock, stand in the right spot to prevent pallet block, and drop it with 1 second left on doc CD. ######### is this game anymore.
Survivor stun is 2.5 seconds, shock therapy takes 1 second after activation to start taking effect, therefore that makes 3.5 seconds so Doc will still have half a second to get in a hit before they can do anything. Which isn't that good
-

So why not do gens and then get out in 5 minutes because gen speed is ridiculously fast
