  • I hate to say that every person who said something other than "Freddy" is wrong, because it was their opinions, and those are subjective by nature.

Instead, I'll just say that objectively speaking, they weren't quite correct.

Godforbid that someone engage in a little bit of harmless hyperbole on the internet...

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2858418#Comment_2858418

These numbers are completely thrown off by newer players, much as Nurse has a sub 50% kill rate on the 'official' stats.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2858323#Comment_2858323

Honestly, don't bother with Hoarder. Unless you're on a tiny map, it won't buy you enough time to pressure the box unless you're already able to predict it's spawn location - in which case you don't really need Hoarder.

You'd be much better off with info (Discordance is never a bad perk), lethality (Devour is great on him, plus his mori is one of the best in the game) or regression (PR+DMS is amazing on him).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2857222#Comment_2857222

I'd hesitate to call him 'bad'.

    Clown is bad.

    Onryo is bad.

    Pig is bad.

    Trapper is bad.

Cenobite is just a comfortable 'B' tier killer. He's not going to be flattening tourney comps like Nurse or Blight can, but he does have a decent toolkit.

    Woah, hey--you take that back!

Clown is a fantastic killer! S tier, very strong. I think you just don't understand his real strengths.

I'll give Sadako another month before I make any comments on her strength or lack thereof.

Amanda, my darling, bestow upon me a Shotgun Collar~

Trapper is a good boy. He does his best, bless his tiny, spider-laden vascular organ.

The Hell Priest is a solid boyo, though, yeah. Even with the nerfs to his kit he's still fairly capable of dominating just about any match so long as you pay attention and understand his very demanding power.

  • I appreciate that @loopsahoy rapidly bounces from being a bit of a jackhole to somewhat tolerable with little to no warning. Calm down. Breathe.

You want to know what the prestige system is for? I'll lay it down, real simple-like--just for you, friend.

It's for the extra challenge. What's that? You think it's too hard? Okay. Don't do it, then.

If you want the reward for the challenge, then you'll just have grit your teeth and bear with it.

It's like the masses of weirdos in COD games who work very hard to get every weapon camo (to unlock the final, fancier camo). They work hard for the pixels that show other players that they achieved something.

    In other words, kwicherbellyachin'.

Edit: to be fair, lots of people on this thread are getting spicy over a whole lot of jack diddly squat. It's not just you, DBD-brand-breakfast-cereal, but I took it out on you. That wasn't fair of me.

  • You silly fool, that's how you survive--the killer will expect you to be on gens, they'll never expect you on the middle of nowhere!

What, you expect them to do the objective? Poppycock! Someone else will do that, surely.

  • I'm going to post, yet again, that I have been sent a mail bomb over this game. They won that particular match, and were so tilted over the fact that I didn't care that they tried to do me serious injury.

That smooth-brained jackhole had the ######### gall to taunt me afterwards about attempted murder--hilariously, that's a crime that gets you put away for a good long while, as they found out.

Do whatever you want, but just know that it both makes you look stupid and puts you at risk. I hope you're taking your online security seriously, chums.

  • Hands-down, no questions asked: Freddy, to play or play against.

Look, PTB Freddy with the teleport. It'd work, BHVR, really.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

    Either Hag or Freddy.

Freddy is just super-boring to play.

Hag is unfun because you cannot chase with her.

Unless it's one of those psycho multitasking Hags who manage to do both and still dominate the match. Then it's just terrifying. Thankfully, you only see that every hundred games or so.

  • I actually don't care about AFK Amanda, I just want the Iridescent Video Tape replaced with a Shotgun Collar add-on.

    Eh? Any takers?

    ... I think it's a good deal...

  • Unpopular opinion: do you need more than seven T3s in a game? That's how many Myers gets with no add-ons, and chances are you're only using them on uninjured players right before a down. It's not that crazy of a limitation.

I don't think any competent player needs more than seven, but I'm told that I'm an elitist #########, so take from that what you will.

  • Demo is absolutely bugged right now.

I've played three matches to check, and the problems were fairly consistent across the board:

    • Trying to shed will often result in a half-lunge M1
    • Trying to let go of Shed will often result in getting stuck in the "hold Shred" animation
    • Trying to cancel Shred into M1 will almost always result in letting go of Shred, no M1 included.
    • Portals are being very selective over where they will allow themselves to be placed, to the point of going through the entire animation, with no portal spawning at the end.
    • The Shred daily, as many know, is not completing properly. In fact, it is retaining no progress whatsoever!

Unless there's a way to get five blinks right now, in which case, I apologize. That's a bug.

Yes I could see myself buying it.

I think what makes Silent Hill a good chapter still today is because they added legendary skins. You can play Cheryl, Alessa, Lisa, Cybil, James. All in one character.

And I think its whats lack the RE chapter.

I would love to play different Tyrant. I love Nemesis gameplay but Im not a fan of what he looks like. I prefer the original Nemesis and other Tyrants.

I mean, I wouldn't mind Nemesis's "new" look for the game if it was "Mint In Box" Nemesis--though, for clarification, do you mean that the chapter can't have multiple legendary skins like the Silent Hill chapter, or that it currently doesn't?

As this is probably coming from discussions around the killswitch, it would need more than a skeleton crew to make that decision as it's more of a Lead decision - it's pretty rare for things to come up on a weekend and most of our work is done during our working week. It is unfortunate that all this came to light on a weekend.

Wait, working seven days a week isn't normal?

But, like--Health insurance and vacation days are still a plot device, right? They aren't actual things that regular workers get?

Grades are no longer indicative of MMR

I disagree, she's an M1 Killer that relies on Hit N Run to do any significant damage during the current CoH meta and her only means of map traversal has a cooldown longer than a Gen

That's a nice opinion--just remember that a killer doesn't have to be good to feel nice.

Twins feel clunky as HFIL to play and they're "monsters at high MMR," so it's good to know that at the very least, Sadako handles well.

  • And yet killers are faster than survivors.

you entirely missed the points i was making though.

"why would i let them go down in that corner?" funnily enough, i already answered that in my first comment - because its not my decision where chases go. i can play around the tile we are on and try to zone you away, but if all they do is Sprintburst towards this corner and hold W until they are there, i wont do anything against that. so whats your suggestion here, just immediately drop every chase that goes in that direction and never down anyone?

"just bleed them out!" / "those perks wont win them the game" - you see, that IS the issue here: they have lost, but i cant actually end the game and move on as i should be able to. i am forced to sit there, waiting for them to slowly bleed out without getting any points for it either. its just unnecessary to have that.

"it doesnt happen often" - you know whats another thing that doesnt happen often? exploit abusers / cheaters. does that make those okay, as you imply it does with this scenario? just because something doesnt happen a lot does not mean it was okay, the fact that it is a possibility itself is proof of poor game design and should be addressed.

and no, you're not being an elitist here. I was around when Iron Grasp was the number 1 Killer meta Perk in the game, i have experienced those sabotage plays myself plenty (on the receiving end) - but just because we've had it worse in the past doesnt mean we shouldnt try to improve the game today.

hooks being permanently destroyed after a sacrifice is nothing but an extremely outdated remainder of those days and there is not much of a reason to keep it in the game.

If someone's exploiting, then you record and report, you silly goose.

The funny thing about playing killer is that you do control the chase, at least in broad strokes. If it looks like they're going to pull shannanigans, then yes, drop chase--or commit to having a good video full of evidence that you can submit.

    @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2836750#Comment_2836750

How is it my fault if survivors just so happen to go down in the same area, and now I can't hook the other 1 or 2 because there are no hooks nearby? Should killers be forced to run Agitation or think twice before every hook "I might need this hook for later". That's extra pressure on the killer that they absolutely do not need. It's a resource management game that doesn't need to be there.

If you are that incapable of managing your hooks, then yes, you should be running Agitation. If you're not idly mindful about which hooks you don't have as you play, then you're doing it wrong.

I'll grudgingly accept gripe about the potential of bully squads, but you're literally saying that you're so incapable of monitoring which hooks you're using/used that you're "forced" to not hook survivors. Incompetence is not good reasoning, friend.

... That sounded more accusing than intended. I understand that it's a hypothetical scenario and that you're not that bad at the game--I just had to get it all out--if you'll excuse me, I need to take more cold medication.

  • The killer could be considerably(slightly?) slower in exchange get getting to traverse tiles in that unconventional way--maybe also have webs for slowdown?

You are right, but as you become a better Huntress you rely less on her melee and more on her ranged. Making it her primary.

    Unfortunately, that's just semantics.

If you want to down survivors with the hatchets in one hit, use the Iridescent heads. The Exposed status effect is for M1 attacks only, and the devs seem to want to keep it that way.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2836750#Comment_2836750

okay, ill play devils advocate here:

what if a 4 man SWF searches out a corner of a map where there is only one, maybe two available hooks in and then purposely all go down in that one corner? after one, max two sacrifices they have forced a hook deadzone uppon the Killer who is now forced to down them and slowly bleed them out. now introduce Perks such as No Mither or Unbreakable and we got ourselves a game that is very needlessly stretched out, with both sides essentially dying from boredom.

and thats not because the killer had "poor ressource management".

fact is, the Killer is not the one deciding where a chase goes, thats ultimately the Survivors decision. So if they always run off into the same corner (or upper floor of a main building such as the Thompson House), there isnt a whole lot the Killer can do about it.

is that really a healthy mechanic to have in your game? i doubt it.

Why in HFIL would you let them go down in the same corner? If it looks like they're trying to pull shenanigans, and it will be fairly obvious if they're trying this, then they can be slugged while you go find someone else. And if they choose to bleed out for the rest of the match, then that's their own stupid choice.

Unbreakable means they get up once, then they've wasted it on a meme, and there's no reasonable way that a No Mither player makes it into a dead zone if they aren't already sitting in it.

Also, you're using a coordinated 4stack bully squad looking to stall out the game for a meme as your primary example. The chances of running into idiots like this is thankfully low.

6/10 on your worst-case-scenario example. Good idea, but has too many assumptions of incompetence and moving parts to be a standard situation.

Maybe I'm just being an elitist though. I remember what it was like to play with hooks that would be broken forever when sabotaged--only losing hooks when you kill a survivor is a cake walk in comparison.

I showed the paint what this scene is about. She does not stand in the front, she stands beside him and killer is looking away from her. And this is apparently only a hit because his hitbox is meant to hit people that are standing beside him instead of in front like the hitboxes on normal attacks and chainsaws work

She's... Still walking directly into the weapon.

She doesn't have to be directly in front of the killer to do that, surprisingly--don't worry, you can get hit in front of the killer as well, it's not that restrictive.

It's okay to admit that you (or your friend, or whatever) made a mistake due to an incomplete understanding of a killer's power. We won't judge you for that.

I've been dreading doing power moves. I think 8 is a little hight.

It's hard, but I finally got it in a match with a Bloodwarden Demodog. The silly goose miscalculated how long he would be able to leave me sitting on the ground after I was a kiss away from wiggling out.

Also, a streamer cussed me out that game for being "useless" because I healed before going for the save on her friend and banned me from her chat lmao--joke's on her, I got my daily, archive, and the achievement that game! Imagine saying "people like that should have a license to breed," smh.

FAIR WARNING: Sometimes it feels like the achievement doesn't count properly--I had three matches where I swear I did enough, and it stayed stubbornly at 6/8. It's rough.

  • @drsoontm said:

You should probably file that in the bug reports.

    That doesn't sound right.

Only an M1 attack should give the notification. (And I'm not even a fan of the notification : seeing someone go down from fully healthy should be information enough.)

All* M2 attacks--nevermind, someone already got to it.

    @BlackRabies said:

And yet Trapper is the only killer in the game that can hide it until someone gets mori.

    *Actually, Plague can as well.

Unpopular opinion: Devour revealing on M2 attacks is fine--you should be using the M1 to take advantage of the fact that they're exposed anyway instead of trying to hide it.

That, and I'm a sucker for neat little differences, and my inner gremlin is cackling at the fact that NOED doesn't reveal on M2 attacks but Devour does. I love the little complexities they put in like that.

  • I had a match at rock-bottom MMR (God, I hate the Power Moves achievement) against a bird mom with the Iridescent feather, and I straight-up assumed that she was cheating, so I just gave up.

It's better than 'D'--the undetectable effect is surprisingly brutal if there's anything in the way of her approach.

  • From what I can see, the Meg is literally walking into the weapon as the Blight swings.

I fail to see the problem you have with this.

Yes, the Rush swing is wide, short, and ignores aim-dressing so you can't trick the killer into getting vacuumed into an object. Meg is still running directly into that hit. Why are you confused?

  • Why not put a two minute cooldown on boons when they get snuffed by a killer? That keeps the "secondary objective" aspect while putting a genuine punishment in for survivors who get careless with their boon placement (also, killers would have a reason to go more out of their way to snuff boons that are in solid positions rather than be encouraged to leave them for the sake of efficiency).

Is two minutes too long? Too short? I'm interested in feedback, even if it's a simple "thats dum".

  • People do call for basement to be reworked, actually.

Opinion: If you can't manage hook loss, it's a you problem, and not a game problem.

Hooks getting destroyed upon sacrifice is a mechanic designed to make killers put thought into where and when they sacrifice survivors.

Is it outdated? I doubt it.

  • From first to last:

Hag should maybe be lower--Hexes are risk/reward and thus situational.

Artist is fine where she is, her perks are fairly good imo.

Cenobite should probably be further down. Not that much further, though. Just a bit.

Can't comment on the smol Asian, not enough personal experience yet.

Mister Sawyer's perks are fairly good--maybe not that high, though. BBQ'd probably drop in value of the grind was less atrocious. Franklin's and Knock Out definitely have their place, though.

Plague's perks are... Probably fine there.

Doctor should be lower. His perks are fairly situational compared to that of other killers.

Trickster is probably fine. His perks are surprisingly solid, even if two of them are more situational.

Blight is also probably fine. Maybe a bit lower.

Hillbilly should be higher. His perks are fairly solid and round out just about every build in very aggressive ways.

My opinion on Spirit's perks is very biased because I'm a fan of gimmicky builds, but she's probably fine where she is.

Freddy should move at most one place to the left. His perks are more for utility, but Fire Up and Remember Me work much better for time management than people give them credit for.

Nemesis is fine where he is. His perks can sometimes have a huge impact on the game. However, if you keep up on pressure they are devastating, and Lethal Pursuer saves time and allows pressure to be applied immediately.

As much as I love demo, he should maybe be in C. Doggo has two decent perks and one that's... Situational, to say the least.

Myers should be higher. STBFL is a fantastic time-saver, and Dying Light is surprisingly good on instant-down killers.

Pyramid Head is okay where he is.

After the buff to his perks, Deathslinger should absolutely be higher. Gearhead is a much better info perk now, and Dead Man's Switch is very solid lockdown. Retribution was good, and it got better.

Oni could be maybe a spot or two to the left. Hard maybe.

Nurse could be higher just because of A Nurse's Calling.

As much as I love Mandee, she's correct about where she is. Only one space to the left more, imo.

Clown should be higher. Bamboozle and PGTW are very solid perks.

Legion should also be higher. Not much more, but his perks provide excellent info, which is kind of amusing on a killer whose power provides information as its primary utility.

Ghostface should be higher. To be perfectly honest, Furtive Chase is his only "bad" perk, every other one is at minimum "okay."

Trapper is, unfortunately, about fine. Mayhaps a little higher, but his perks are in the "better than generic perks" category, and that position's pretty tenuous with Demo's perks entering that pool.

Wraith is fine where he is

Huntress should be lower. Her perks are almost worthless.

Charlotte's perks might be bad, but they're not that bad. Put her above Wraith and Huntress.

  • @Breadn said:

It feels like I'm the only one experiencing this, but it feels like overtime lockers have gotten louder and louder. I remember back in ~2019 they were dead silent, but now I can hear a survivor entering one while I'm 15 meters away.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like immersive gameplay in the slightest. But if they want to make hiding in lockers part of the game, then I shouldn't be able to hear a survivor enter one on the second story of a Badham house while I'm still in the road.

And this is coming from someone who plays 90% killer and always has.

As someone who played the game in 2016, no. They were never "dead silent."

They might have changed the sound, but the volume is about the same.

  • Also, Spine Chill is (while decent and full of utility when used well) not really that hard to deal with

You can fairly easily overcome the detection aspect just by playing better--literally just walk at an angle of you suspect they have it and you're fine. It's honestly harder to counter it in chase, which is also perfectly fine because you can still counter it.

  • @Brimp said:

Honestly badham can use a weaker shack. You forgot to mention the 2 story house which usually loops into something else.

I still abused it, of course. I had a daily and by golly I wanted it.

You're really complaining about the recently nerfed Wraith? Really?

Then again, I'm not surprised. I had 2 survivors message me (PS4) and complain when I got a 3k with a meme build. I had no gen regression and no tracking. I ran double action speed while cloaked addons with Brutal Strength, Bamboozle, Iron Maiden, and Fire Up. Basically a "I'm just gonna break and vault stuff faster" build.

Survivor mains will complain about anything if they lose, even if they lose to a meme build. 😂

"No, no--you don't get it; that's a solid build, bro!"

I hardly think that laughing at people for being so terrible at the game that they decided to pay a good deal of money just to fail more obviously "being salty" lmao

They are about the same in strength. They are both really bad as is, whether you agree with that or not. The perk system I suggested would address this huge issue. With it, they don't have to design every perk as balanced to each other as each has distinctly different effects on every aspect of gameplay which makes balancing them as is, basically impossible.

The system im suggesting above would fix this big issue with DBD.

Nice opinion, chum! You're deadass wrong about them being the same strength, but sure, friend--that wasn't the main point.

Again, I sincerely doubt the devs would implement the point system for perks--it's an interesting thought experiment, though!

I think the reason why you see BBQ and discordance as killer perks has to do with concept of a security blanket.

some players have very bad sense of direction when it comes to understanding the flow of a match. They're afraid of not having 100% chase-up time in a match as killer, so they run information perks as Insurgence towards finding survivors. They find possible loss of time looking for survivors a greater than reward of gaining more time on generators. I would say information perks are safety net perks.

Another possible reason for running information is to tunnel as killer. instead of explicitly tunneling off hook, its more indirect soft-tunnel by finding survivors that are on death hook towards middle stage of the game.

Pain Resonance is used to trigger DMS without the killer requiring to commit going to a generator. Knocking off 2 survivor for a full 12 second+45 seconds of DMS is increatible perk value. It is really interesting question whether deadlock or Pain Resonance is stronger.

I feel like No way out a bit overrated for a perk. I feel like true power of No way out really comes from NOED and nothing else. In matches that you have won, its fanatic win-more perk for alerting exit gates but I feel like the perk functionally is no better than running blood warden. At most, it gives 1 extra hook in late game. I would describe No way out as Haunted ground of hex builds. Its like Icing of cake. Haunted grounds can often snowball Hex:Ruin or Hex:Devour hope builds rapidly. No way out can escalate NOED.

I run stbfl a lot on vast majority of my killers and the reason why I run it is because my greatest fear as killer is bodyblocking & shift-W gameplay on m1 killers. My other fear is dropping safe pallets but there is no perk that is viable for punishing safe pallet drops. If only coup the grace cough cough was more useful cough cough(no token system please).

In the end, the best perk build is the one that works best for you and complements your strengths & weaknesses as a player.

The reason why you see BBQ is the extra points, you over-optimizing psychopath!

In all seriousness though, I'm pretty sure you nailed a lot of solid reasons that people run those perks!

... Wow, I almost called you a Handsome Devil as a joke and then I read your username. Eww, puns.
