That logic doesn't really make any sense. What is their to get confused about? The ranking system is not the best but that's no reason to remove rank. It still shows your level of dedication and skill more or less and lets you typically join matches with people near you're rank. When you get owned as killer survivor it can give you a little peace of mind knowing you lost to people higher rank than you makes the 4 man sac even more satisfying too. How would removing this make anything better how is this a QoL improvement? I like knowing ranks let's me know how I preform against different rank survivors and vise versa as survivor. I don't complain about many changes but I fail to see any logic in removing rank.
Yea I get killed by ranks 1

This does not seem logical to me. We should be able to tell if the matchmaking works or not.

Not only is it a decent tracking perk it guarantees a down and kill in endgame.
Rancor along with Blood warden is a really good combo, you might get two late game sacrifices with this combo.
I love BW and using it with noed but I feel nurse calling is better than rancor.

Yes! I didnt like to use ruin before. Now, i kinda like to use it. Maybe as i aways thought "i dont need to stall the game cause ill get then before the 5 gens or i must get better"... and so i released that perk slot for other builds and had more freedon to explore options that would make me "get then faster" instead of "stalling the game".
But now, ruin is viable and more fun to use. I dont need to kick the gens and can go on with the chase right away! That has more offensive consequences, nevertheless stills a defensive perk in its effects.
But i prefer to use Devour Hope when i have it... given my agressive and not defensive gameplay as killer. The same reason i dont use NOED if have other metas: i dont suppose the survivors will make it to the last gen, ill get then before that.
And so is my style as survivor: i dont suppose ill get caught, so no DS, and stuff like that, wich are defensives. I use SC (the only one that assumes the killer can hit me), Spine Chill (great map awareness when the killer is around and counterplay against no terror radius killers), Distortion (a great detection perk for knowing when the killer can read you aura and making better decisions based on that to avoid him), and the fourth perk, which is variable to tune a specific tatic for the next match.
But, well, back to the Ruin, its better than before, imho. With old Ruin there were genrushes anyway, with great players doing great skill checks all the time, plus gentapping, plus waiting after a normal skill check to go again avoiding big returns, etc.
But... stills a stalling perk, so, not a meta for me, as I said before.
I agree also. Old ruin suck

im playing killer, went from rank 15 (decayed) to rank 3, and only played doctor, used spies from the shadows (lvl 3), bbq (lvl 1), shadowborn (lvl 3) (i would switch this to light born if i saw 2 flashlights, considering the fact that almost 75 percent of the time, the first time they go to flashlight you at pallet, they sit there and waste so much time i get an ez down), and pop goes the weasel (only lvl 1), i was just trying to save up BP to prestige doc again so these were the perks i had, and i would usually use add ons that increased his static blast, and increased madness inflicted by static blast, usually yellow, but sometimes purple, and then i would prestige and usually have only the same perks. so ruin is not required, most killers just have used it as a crutch and need to learn how to apply alot of pressure without it.

I'm on the side of balance.
I want this game to be as fair for both sides as possible.
Unfortunately, the devs have shown they are incompetent when it comes to game balance.
So there's really not much else to do except try and push for change (which i don't think will happen).
No Ruin deserve to be nerf

@TrappersTears said:
I'm on my own side I personally see new ruin as a nerf. I like what it does but it's still as useless as old ruin because of A) map sizes and B) totem placements. They needed to address these issues before changing ruin. Tbh their excuse of how they are changing it because it's overused at certain ranks is bs to me because there are survivor perks that are over used. To me the devs don't listen to the right people, they are hiding behind "statistics" that often don't tell the full story. They aim to please beginner survivor mains but ignoring high rank survivors and killers in general. Survivors just picking up the game are having games handed to them but nobody cares about the killers enjoyment
Ruin deserve it

I am on no side. I have my own opinions about what has happened. I admit I was on absolute fire due to the ruin and doctor changes, but it’s amazing what happens when you actually play what is available.
Do I support the dev team? No, they have made some bone headed decisions. Do I like the ruin and doctor changes? Surprisingly, I have enjoyed them. The dev team just needs to start hitting other issues instead of band aid fixes.
Ruin deserves it

Surge is doing extremely good work for me right now.
I don't need to waste time kicking those, it still scares some Survivor off of Generators no matter what rank, & even if they stay on it, it's still some extra work they have to do.
Its cooldown is its biggest negative to me, but i can live with it.
I also equip Pop Goes The Weasel along with it, to kick those that aren't regressing and need regression badly.

If I'm understanding this correctly by their own responses:
They don't think Gen speed has any issues. They don't think survivors have any balance problems at all. They're actually planning on FURTHER buffing survivors by looking at non meta perks. And the funniest bit is they're going to further nerf killer by nerfing the already very weak percentage slow down perks like dying light, thana, ect.
BHVR is legitimately biased as ######### and they're not evening trying to hide it.
It they game so

@HazeHound said:
You only see part of picture.
If worse killers are deranking hard this mean super bad survivors are ranking up (those who didn't understand game basics). This means medium killers reaching red ranks very easly. In 1 week we go back to place when r1-3 means literally nothing.
So many people believe making anything survivors have to do beeing based on actual skill is bad. Sad. Flashlight/pallet save patch beeing second best example of this.
Ruin was crap perk (but at least it made difference between bad survivor and decent survivor) but now it is almost useless (from killers pov). It only helps killers with good pressure and map control, those who already don't need help. Slow killers were the ones needing ruin and it is useless for them now.
@LordCyphre You kinda have medium vaults doing this.

I don't like the ruin change, it's a blatant nerf to the hex that will render it mostly useless like all other hexes beyond the insta down hexes. Thankfully, I am not a trash killer and don't use it anyway.
However, it's been great hearing about the killers dropping ranks because they can't keep up with the pace of the game at red ranks. It's about time they dropped into the ranks they deserve to play in.
Hopefully now, when I load into a trial as survivor, I get a killer that can actually play, rather than lazily rely on a totem to do all the hard work for them.
Also, I am going to love it as killer, as I will be completely unaffected by the change, like I was with every other change to nurf killers, why? Because killers are overpowered. The only chance survivors have, is with 4man swf, and even then, they get squished most the time. If you're not capable of that as killer, then enjoy the purple/green ranks or even playing some other game 👍
It the best move

Your entire post is invalidated by the fact that it's a hex perk, and those are usually gone 60 seconds into a game. If it wasn't a hex perk, I'd agree with you 100%. It being a hex makes it beyond worthless, and the designers of this change should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't think keys should be allowed to be used unless genes are done or just the one person left alive, it's kinda bullcrap that objectives can be skipped when there is more then one survivor alive, that being said, same goes for mori lol but it wouldn't be right to remove 1 and not the other. @KuromiStarwind said:
If there's one thing I think we can all agree on in just about any game we play, it's that being stunned and not being able to move is generally not fun. Head On is simply an annoying perk that doesn't really have a counter and can give you a free stun, outside of baiting it out. Even then due to dedicated servers your killer hitbox can easily be hit or even if you swing at them when they're out of the locker, you still eat a stun because of dedicated servers, too, in the same way a grab doesn't always give you a grab and they get away. So no, I wouldn't really say it's always "easily avoided" and I wouldn't call it fun for anyone but a survivor, which is par for the course these days :)
Does the perk in general bother me? Not really at all, no. No one complains about head on when there's DH/DS/BT
Same for ruin

I just played against a legion with ruin, purple add ons, and an ebony mori that camped and mori'd the first survivor, camped me to death and then got outplayed by the last 2 and rage quit before the second could escape, lol. Mori is for weak killers

I've been thinking ever since it was announced, initially I thought it was too much of a nerf... I still think it is honestly. But as someone who plays 50/50 I honestly think my joy of not having to worry about my teammates being unable to work through Ruin overshadows my displeasure as a killer. I can replace Ruin, but the ability to not worry of 2-3 teammates literally doing nothing until Hex Ruin is found is a greater benefit to me.
I don't think there is any right answer here, and please let's not argue that's been done to death. Just curious what other people that do both roles almost equally think.
I'm happy

*Play as Killer*
Chooses Bubba:
Perks: NoED, Ruin, Franklins, BBQ
4 Killers Join:
David, Meg, Feng, Claudette
Flashlight, Flashlight, Toolbox, Medkit.
*Match Starts*
Autohaven
David has Object of Obession and is chasing me with a flashlight.
I ignore. Proceed to chase the lonesome Meg. Hit Meg, she drops flashlight. Throws down two pallets, why? Who knows. Down Meg. Hook Meg. David tries to flashlight bait me while running circles around the hook. I crank chainsaw and go for him.
Feng runs by me. I turn, chainsaw Feng and the Meg she unhooked. Proceed to chase David. He baits, I turn back and hooks Feng. I pick up Meg. DS’d me. Cool.
Lose Meg. Go for Claudette. She just finished a gen. I hit Claudette. She runs, pallets, I get flashlighted by David who’s been chasing me the entire match. Lose Claudette.
Claudette rushes out of a locker, I turn, down Claudette. Hook Claudette. Feng dies on hook. Meg comes for the hook rush. Down Meg. Hook Meg. Meg - dead. Feng - dead. Claudette - dead. (Apparently I facecamped because they kept camping by the hooked).
BBQ shows that David is across the map on a generator. I go to David, he tries to loop, pallet stun fails. Gets hit. Runs.
Little did he know, his teammates wasted Pallets. Runs to a dead end. Downed. Dead. I close hatch. Game over.
Post-match Ranks:
Me: Rank 9
David: Rank 2
Meg: Rank 2
Claudette: 5
Feng: 5
Post-match PMs:
“Facecamper and tunneler” “Understandable from a ######### Rank 9” “I’m a Rank 1 killer and don’t need to camp to pip” “Did you have fun” etc.
lmfao ######### is wrong with you guys? You sit behind a tire, wall, etc by the hook and I see you and you expect me to what? Run to a corner and count to 30?

Okay just wanted to ask because I recognize one of the names in the screenshots and I can confirm they are indeed a strong SWF team. Though the fact there was a DC kind of muddles your point just because there are a lot of survivors that insta-DC in certain instances.
That said, I agree with you that majority of games are pretty easy for killer even at red ranks. Most games are actually in your favor. Some games are not. Other games you will get really strong survivors or SWF groups and those will be a challenge, but the thing is Ruin wouldn't make a difference. In fact in my experience, Ruin is more of a hindrance simply because it either gets destroyed within 30 seconds or (when it comes to those good survivors/SWF) makes literally zero difference in gen speeds. I've had Ruin only to have 2-3 gens still pop my first chase like it wasn't even there. And I've been on the giving end of that, in fact tonight my 4 man SWF man at least 2 killers quit by doing 3 gens through Ruin in the first 2 minutes of the game.
Fact is against the best survivors or strong SWF groups, Ruin does nothing to help. It helps a lot against survivors where you could have likely won anyway without Ruin. I've been playing most killers without Ruin for months now and I feel like it's made me a better killer. I can contend with those top players better and I found better tactics.
Ruin is highly overrated by killer mains as the only option. It's not the only option, and it's actually a weak option on top of that. Pop is much MUCH more effective at controlling gen speeds.
Tha k you for saying that ruin don't make you better

Yeah, but unbreakable really helps flip flop. Increased recovery rate helps if the killer only leaves you on the ground for a few seconds. Add tenacity, and you can get to a hiding place while doing so, giving you another moment to get that wiggle meter up higher. One of my favorite builds is Unbreakable, Flip-flop, Tenacity, and Boil Over. Sure, it's an anti-slug build, but it's surprising how well it works.
Tenacity don't work 80%
