  • Honestly, I only pick a different survivor at the last minute if I decide there are too many of that character in a match. I don't wanna be that player that makes the killer have to guess which Dwight I am or anything like that. I rarely use any items like flashlights or keys unless I haven't use it before and want to understand the differences. Personally, if I could, I would trade my unused items in for BP.

    i wouldnt like that.

they should make the aura notification i get inbetween the audio cues more accurate by making it turn off as soon as one leaves the gen and the perk would be fine.

if there is one thing i hate its when i chase someone and every 8 seconds discordance screams in my ear "HEY THERE IS SOMETHING HAPPENING HERE, DID YOU KNOW?". i need ONE notification to know there are two players there, not 50.

Well now I can't help but think of Navi 😂

    "Hey! Listen!"

You missed my entire point. If a balanced game is a 2k then that means the devs are purposely trying to make it so that it's impossible for a killer to defend gens/gates, as survivors can't escape without powering all gens and a gate (excluding key).

It's not a simple you win some you lose some. An ideal balanced game according to the devs will always have survivors complete their objectives of gens and gate and consequently this means a killer will always fail at their objective of defending gates and gens. It's understandable why some killers can feel underwhelming.

So what is a balanced game in your opinion? 4Ks every match? Every survivor escapes every match? Seems to me that most want "balance" to mean that no matter what, they can 4k or escape every single match they play which just isn't possible.

So you're just ignoring the fact the tutorial teaches you pretty much nothing about the game on both sides making it a waste of time?

You can't even pick a killer and test/use the power during the killer part of the tutorial and as survivor you don't even get to use a pallet.

How can you possibly call that a tutorial?

The tutorial is really only good for the BP you get from completing it. It's pretty much like reading an interactive instruction book.

I think everyone is missing the big picture on why dbd has such a problem and often people argue that its because of perks and yell out specific perks they hate

The problem with dbd is survivors and before you disagree with me please note that I am a survivor main and you should hear me out.

Survivors have no downside to them you can play any survivor without any penalty where that is different for killer, you can't play any killer and it be the same. Killers have different abilities which leads to different playstyles survivors don't you can play any survivor and run at the same speed etc needs to change

My suggestion: Completely rework survivor and remove teachables.

Survivors needs stats like killers, some survivors should be slower than others leaving them at a disadvantage but could have pros like more strength (by strength I mean throwing down a pallet faster and it stuns the killer for like 0.3 seconds longer)

Exhaustion needs to be base kit, there needs to be exhaustion you shouldn't be able to run across the map without stopping to catch breath and this gives killers like hag a chance in chases where you run a -5% slower if you run for to long

Teachables have always been a problem on the survivor side anyway and have continued to be a problem throughout the years. They honestly make a character less important since all you have to do is get someone to level 40 in the blood web then be done with them this can be done in a day. I propose they remove teachables as a whole and yes I'm aware that this can be argued with but I have an example

Say you wanna use dead hard but you also want to use decisive strike you can't anymore you'd have to play David for dead hard or Laurie for decisive strike.

I know there will be entitled players who won't like this idea but I think every survivor main realizes that killer has harder than survivor and something needs to be done other than reworking powers and perks.

You could play that way yourself without it affecting every other player if you wish. Oddly enough, not everyone that plays this game plays it to the point of having every perk on every survivor. Not everyone that plays even has access to every perk. For example, I don't have Laurie on my Xbox account so DS isn't even possible for me to use.

  • @Quol said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1524542#Comment_1524542

Yup, and it's why killers can think of themselves as underwhelming. To get a 2k requires all gens completed which means a 'balanced' game requires killers to completely fail at defending gens and completely fail at preventing gates.

I mean, if you feel like a failure, that has more to do with yourself than anyone else. It's a game, not a job. That said, its supposed to be fun, not something that stresses you out or makes you feel like you failed when you've done as well as you can. Survivors aren't supposed to escape every match and killers aren't supposed to 4k every match. You win some, you lose some. That's something that people in these forums seem to forget.

  • @Quol said:

If you believe a 2k is balanced then that means you believe that every game should end with all generators completed. Imagine being a killer knowing that in every 'ideal' game you will lose every gen and will have to claw for a 2k at end game collapse. Why wouldn't you consider that underwhelming?

2k is what the devs consider to be balanced...

so you’re telling me killers don’t get banned for being an ######### and face camping? Continue to stab me? or face camp from a far so no one can save me? he had every right to disconnect. why is it fair to killers to be petty cause they’re losing the one match to be an #########? if you’re gonna be petty i’ll disconnect. your ass won’t get the win. I play on mobile and ps4 and just now I was at the exit opening the gate and there was another survivor. You think the killer goes for them? No picks me up and camps me and stabs me so i disconnected the app cause it wasn’t fun. But i get banned for leaving and he doesn’t? nah i’ll disconnect and wait the 30 seconds

Killers that DC get the same punishment... Quitting because "its unfair" is the equivalent of taking your basketball home so nobody else can play because your team lost. Suck it up and finish the match and move on to the next one especially if you already played the whole match.

Yes rule 3712 in the book. Also rule 273 states that killers must not kick gens, and rule 2235 states that you can't kill the survivors, but since you got a 4k, that means you broke those rules PLUS A LOT MORE. You know what that means, TO THE RANCH WITH YOU!

Cracking up due to the Ranch reference!

  • @AnnoyedAtTheGame said:

I think the killer should get to for free if they're up against survive with friends groups

That's no different than a survivor disconnecting because they don't like a certain killer. It's part of the game.

Anyway, I don't defend it but I understand it and since I don't know the reason someone may do it, I don't really care about it enough to complain.

  • Isn't there a punishment in place for DC'ing? It's not like the person that does it gets away with anything. They forfeit the points they earned and get a time out.

Why does the whole "team" need to be punished for one idiot does?

Keep in mind, I have never been part of SWF other than one time when a killer messaged me for help with a tome challenge and most of the time, I get put into matches with selfish survivors so I rarely see myself as part of a team.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

As a killer, your job is to KILL the survivors, that's the whole purpose of the killer side, but of course some survivors don't see it exactly that way. In no way I'm trying to make fun of them tho, so I think I should short some things out.

The killer can do anything that isn't bannable to win the game. That means they can camp, tunnel, camp a generator (don't ask me, I got flamed for doing that), play any killer and use any perk that they like, there shouldn't be anyone to hold em back. Yes of course its a d*** move to camp or tunnel, but, since they are the killer, they can do it. You don't make up the rules, both as a survivor and as a killer.

I'm struggling to understand why I shouldn't use killers like the spirit and "I should go play a normal killer". Excuse me but, you didn't actually pay for my account did you? Since this is my account I can use whatever I want.

If someone flames you in post game chat, send them this and hopefully they will realize how stupid they really are xd

Cya in the fog, fellow killers and survivors of the fog.

I have no beef taking the L as a survivor. My beef comes from killers that will pick on someone because they brought in a flashlight or play as a survivor that they just don't like, etc.

If killers can bring ebony moris, they shouldn't complain about survivors bringing in keys. If a survivor wants to go all clicky, clicky on a killer with a flashlight, they shouldn't complain when a killer takes them out as soon as possible because they're being annoying. Even as a survivor main, the flashlight clicking and teabagging annoys me but then again, so does being targeted because at some point Claudette annoyed the killer and they treat every Claudette as an annoyance.

Personally, I set my own goals when I play either side and as long as I reach my goal, I really don't care about the results at the end. Honestly, if I were to 4k every match or escape every match, I would stop playing the game.

  • As someone that plays on both PS4 and Xbone, I would very much appreciate cross progression. I'm simply not willing to pay twice for DLC only to have to spend the time to level up characters twice.

I love Nea and her perks but not enough to level her up all over again on Xbox and the same goes for Ash on PS. Not to mention, Warframe has taught me that RNGsus hates me and finds me to be a most egregious sinner.

playing solo does help teach fundamentals of survivor as opposed to relying on comms to circumvent the game. (I’m not saying you as OP are this) if more survivors had to go through the learning process there would be far less potatos in higher ranks. That in itself would help the Q and matchmaking. Institute something akin to rb6 where you can’t play ranked until you hit a certain level... I.E. can’t swf until rank 14 (the 14 is arbitrary. For example only) would help potatos

To add to your idea, a practice mode with bot killers might not be a bad idea either, though it would probably be a pain in the buns to implement at this point.

I know I was a horrible Jason in Friday the 13th until the solo mode came out and I was pretty much forced to learn how to adapt my tactics. Once I took what I learned into matches with other players, I noticed my skill level on both sides increased.

In DBD, I play solo queue most of the time because I record my matches and most people that I game with are into battle royales and MMOs.

Yeah @Peanits why people like these get away scott free is the team the handle reports not doing their job?

Probably more or less that it gets difficult to keep up with as the player base grows. The people looking into it are only human and can only do so much.

It sucks to deal with it so often but, nobody can be everywhere at once so it also takes patience on our end to allow time for it to be dealt with.

  • I know it wouldn't solve the problem entirely but I wish there were a way that messages such as the ones using obvious racial slurs could at least be censored on the receiving end. Then, whomever is sending it can feel like they've accomplished something and the person receiving it doesn't even have to see it.

I let most things pass since I'm a comedian and grew up participating in the occasional momma jokes session but I draw the line at homophobic, racial, and other kinds of slurs.

Hopefully they get punished soon enough.

Saying Jane was not around the hook even though she clearly was in proximity for BT to go off is blatantly biased.

"She was on the complete other side of the building,": This is still within 32 meters range. That's the logic you and some other forum users keep using here. You're describing the building as if it's some massive infinite that I so greedily decided to go far out of my way to find the Jane who is still within my terror radius.

"You decide to go for the 4K": God forbid I do my job and make sure I'm able to kill as many survivors as I can, which I completely outplayed by the way.

"Although you already have two on the ground with 5 gens up": Two on the ground that I outplayed which was possible due to Infectious Fright being used as intended. Again with the number of gens, 0 gens or 5 gens makes no difference in the way DS was used.

"You CHOSE to pick her up knowing the DS mechanic": I'm sorry that through all that was going on with adrenaline gameplay and awareness of the situation regarding 4 survivors, that I didn't realize Hillbilly's stopwatch didn't go off yet telling me to wait for DS to not punish me.

"You were punished because of your haste and choices:" Meanwhile, while I capitalize almost perfectly on all the survivors mistakes, the Jane, who I clearly tunneled and deserve that DS, saves the Nancy with BT, allows her to take a hit to then pick up the Zarina and find the David. But yeah, clearly I was in the wrong here.

If you outplayed them, what's the issue? I don't understand the complaint. You had 2 perfectly viable candidates to hook but instead of dealing with either of them, you make a beeline for the one that was literally just unhooked. The same one I might add that was trying to put distance between the two of you AND the other 3 survivors. If Jane were just chilling, hanging around the hook, fair enough but that wasn't the case. You got greedy and were punished for it. Take the L and move on. Learn from it rather than complain that it's broken.

  • People sending death threats in general is absurd to be honest. It's pretty pathetic and immature.

  • Looks like you challenged the Killer's skills and they were none too pleased.

The answer is all above, not gonna repeat the same to ppl who won't read the entire story. In nutshell, yes. That rank 1 has nothing to do in a rank 17 match. Imagne playing Siege in bronze while the enemy team magically has a diamond player. That's what this is.

Siege is a competitive game whereas DBD is not.

You are a rank 20 survivor, your opinion means absolutelly nothing, I'm sorry. I'm not saying it is harder than playing killer, it's different. Try playing solo queue and grow you some survivor skills to understando the difference. Spoiler Alert: Being good isn't enough to survive, you depend on other survivors and the kiler making mistakes, like tunelling the best looper.

Rank really doesn't matter. For example, I've been playing for about 1.5 - 2 years. Since I don't play this like it's a job, I'm often in lower ranks but my skills are about mid-rank. Stop relying on "rank" to determine someone's skill because some people do play other games and take breaks from DBD. Fundamental flaw with this community is relying on arbitrary numbers to assume someone else's skill level.

  • I thought the objective was to please the entity. That's what I understand from reading the lore anyway.

  • Survivors DO have the right to kill themselves on first hook, it's just a douche canoe move to do so. Then again, sometimes I do it because I get distracted by something I need to attend to in real life. Sometimes, I just don't feel like beating the crap out of my A or × button because I can see my "teammates" doing absolutely nothing. Rarely does it have to do with the killer.

Most online games do that, sure, and most online games feature surrender mechanics, don't put mid-tier players against the highest ranked players in the game, and have a casual mode.

Pretty sure this game has no competitive or ranked modes. At least that's what I've understood in my 2 years off and on (I take a break when things get too frustrating both in the game and irl) it's all casual and ranks are only for matchmaking purposes.

If you quit because a game is too "hard" or whatever, how will you learn the tactics needed to adapt to situations?

Imagine if one of Ghotface's victims gave him a hard time and he just gave up instead of adapting his strategy.

  • The whole killer v survivor (outside of matches, of course) and killers and survivors being braggarts playing like toxic jerkwads is an issue and threads like this don't help matters. Pretty much anyone doing this outside of showing an example of their point needs an ego check.

  • He reminds me of the Creeper from Jeepers Creepers more than a cowboy. I'm on console so I can't speak to the gameplay other than what I've seen from watching Ohmwrecker though. He LOOKS like he could be fun but, at my skill level....

  • Not even going to attempt to remember amy of this, I'm just gonna play the game to the best of my ability and in a manner that allows me to have fun while not hindering anyone else's ability to.

  • Can we get an example of an AVERAGE match?

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1120926#Comment_1120926

Yea I don't send hate messages as killer either. In fact, if you get a message from me after the game it's usually something silly, or an apology for being a dick to you (again because I was forced to).

Like this Meg brought a key into my game last night. I have a rule that I bring a mori if I see a key. I tunneled her off first hook and mori'd her with 4 gens left. I felt bad but I've been nice in the past with keys and it's come back to bite me. He sent me a message "F this key challenge, thats 10 keys gone now :(". I said "yea sorry, I mori keys. I think the challenge is dumb too. You should just run Plunderers you can get a key 1 in 3 games usually". We had a nice conversation and had I known this group weren't high ranks I probably wouldn't have brought the mori, but better safe than sorry. I felt bad for the guy, but I gotta look out for number 1. He was understanding at least, thanked me for the advice. If I see him again with a key I'll probably not do that again.

You seem pretty chill and fair about things. I wouldn't tale it personally if I were you. A lot of the time it's probably fair to say that it's frustration that has been built up over the course of a few matches and you end up getting the brunt of the hate.

  • Sometimes I wait for the killer to show up so I can "wave" to them as if to say "good game, you really made me earn this one!". On rare occasions, I wait to make sure everyone else got out because I'd feel like a turd leaving good teammates behind. Out side of those reasons, if the gate is open, I leave ASAP because I'm generally quite unlucky 😂

  • Both sides act like jerks. That's why ignoring messages after a match is really the only solution to the problem. Main issue with this community is the US vs THEM mentality outside of matches and the biases that "mains" carry. I personally don't waste time messaging people anything other than "GG" and leave it at that.

  • If it was a good match and I got my personal goal done, I'll let the last one go or take them to the hatch. I'm a pretty bad killer in the way that I generally just want to have fun and don't care about kills.

  • I'm just saying, the next licensed killer should be The Snuggle (fabric softener) Bear... Think about.

  • @Fibijean said:

I'm very confused. Why are so many people using this post as an excuse to attack survivors specifically? Is it because of the example OP used, even though the post as a whole was very clearly about the community in general, regardless of who mains who? Did people not read past the first paragraph? What am I missing here?

Some people are heavily biased and don't play both sides enough to know how it is on both. Personally, I find that its pretty even on Xbox. Haven't played on PS4 in a while, don't want a Switch, and my PC runs the game like crap so I can't speak for those communities.

  • 100%. Each side justifies it because the other side does despite learning how that makes both sides wrong in elementary school.

There's that Killer Rulebook written by survivor mains again.

I play to have fun. Fun for me, and many killers, is winning. To a lot of us, winning is getting as many kills as possibly by any means within the rules of Dead by Daylight imposed on us by the developers of the game (aka the only rules that matter). So, if we have a strategy that works, we're going to do execute it. Feel free to run the 2 perks that counter slugging.

I don't follow that rulebook, lol.

Unlike most people that play this game, I take each match as it comes. The randomness of it all makes it fun for me. Most of the time when I screw up, its my own fault, not the fault of a perk or someone gen rushing or tunneling or any of that bs. I actually learn from my goofs and bad games instead of sending people salty messages or coming to the forums to ask for nerfs. There's no point to face camping, since all that happens is we both sit there while gens get done. Tunnelling isn't so much a hassle as it is annoying and really doesn't teach one how to adapt.

But by all means, make assumptions about how I play because I mentioned that some killers don't care about survivors having fun as a response to you crying about survivors not caring about killers having fun. It may have nothing to do with anyone ruining your fun and have everything to do with the fact that you can only have fun if you're winning.

  • Literally the second comment under the original post. What is said in other posts is irrelevant to this one.

  • I play solo and it became habit after not being able to trust my "team" to heal. After getting unhooked, I don't have to follow some dummy to anywhere either.

Running to a corner to heal while someone is hooked is straight up trash.

I agree here. In a game where survivors don't give a ######### about a killers fun and the survivor meta is perks that are entirely unfair from a balance standpoint...I mean...masochism is a kink. A weird one, but a kink all the same.

I don't know where this "survivors dont care" bs came from. Personally, it doesnt matter how I play as survivor because most killers take the butthurt from one match into the next one. I don't teabag or any of that crap but is sure as hell get face camped and tunneled by craptatsic killers often enough.

Much respect to the killers that take opportunities to learn new tactics since that allows survivors to do the same and vice versa.

  • Its because each side has people that complain and beg for nerfs or buffs instead of adapting during matches or just plain accepting that they aren't as good as they think they are.

  • Its entirely possible that its more complicated than people that don't work on the game know or understand and its taking a while to fix permanently.

Or its just because the game is "survivor sided".

Maybe you just shouldn't play this game at all if you are that easily triggered.

I play every match I'm put in unless I have a valid reason not to or something out of my control occurs. Check my record on PS4 and Xbox. If you find any evidence of me disconnecting, lobby dodging, or anything of the sort, then you can accuse me of being triggered. As it is now, I have yet to ever be in a match that meets my criteria for hook suicide so really, your accusation of me being triggered is pretty baseless.
