Had someone do this to me this morning as I was playing on Pale rose. The boat gen was already done and he kept jumping in and out of a locker on the boat. I just took it as this guy isnt being productive, so lets hunt his teammates who ARE working on gens.

I DO wish something would be done about the explosion noises though, since those are deafening when your trying to hear more subtle things like grass moving or a survivor moaning.

@Peanits is there anything that can be done to mute the noise after the first 5 explosions or something?

    Turn your volume down?

  • In my experience, the only killers obsessed with getting a 4k are the players that take the game too seriously and want survivors to only play certain characters or bring in certain items or they play like jerks.

  • I suggest that you just relax and play the game. Sometimes I 4k, sometimes I 0k. Most often I spend time trying to recreate Scooby-Doo moments and don't take it so seriously. Ends up being quite a bit of fun.

So survivors already keep items, addons and regenerate all charges upon escaping, while killers addons get used up every time the trial ends. And you want to give them an ability to bring more items form the trial into the next, while perks like plunderers exist? I don't think that's fare or balanced in any way

Edit: you can literally come in with a key and then escape with one if you run plunderers

Do those add-ons not get used in the match? If I bring in a key and don't use it all, it would make sense that I keep it. If Trapper brings in a Trap add-on, he uses them on his traps so at the end of the match he no longer has them.

  • It's easier to bring in moris and punish other players that didn't do anything other than spend money to play the game like killers did than it is to adapt one's play style, I guess.

The logic you use should be applied to tunneling, face camping, moris and slugging.

Why shouldn’t a killer tunnel? Killing that person faster will make the rest of the match easier for the killer. It’s not as if ranking matters.

Camping is also a good strategy for overly altruistic survivors. Rather than traversing the map, let them come to you!

Moris are basically items that the devs have provided for killers to use. Just like how survivors bring in a toolbox, key or flashlight, there is no reason to be upset with a killer who brings a mori. They’re just playing the game with a feature that Devs have provided. No complaint right?

Slugging isn’t a problem because it is another feature that the devs have provided. It helps killers slow down the game to have a little more fun. They’re not holding the game hostage since you can bleed out, or have one of your teammates heal you!

So, in reality, killers have every right to use all of the above, until the developers decide to change the game again. The question is, how many times will killers put up with the changes?

Yet we have killers that will lobby dodge based on seeing flashlights, toolboxes, keys, and even certain characters. So again, applying that logic, why do killers lobby dodge when they face items and survivors that they don't like when they're part of the game?

  • My only honest suggestions would be to reign in map sizes and maybe add a new objective for survivors to do. It's pretty boring with holding down a button being the only objective. Having to search out parts or flip a couple of switches to activate the exit gates once gens are done could be helpful on both sides.

  • Adding more than generators as objectives for survivors just seems to be too doggone difficult to consider. It would be better than these band-aid solutions lately and would naturally make matches take longer as well as offset some issues with killers like the Trapper having to find his traps for example.

  • You could take the time to adapt your playstyle to one that perks compliment instead of one that compliments perks.

Um are u saying that if u bully multiple people its not bulling anymore ? Thats very interesting. Leave that subject of bullying its not the point and i am not rly feeling bullied but it was pretty fun perspective. I know matchmaking is #########. So what u want me to do ? just say oh its broken dosent matter i will just pretend its fine ? Threre is not even information that something is broken so noone is going to fix anything. and what i want ? meaby fix matchmaking ?

Pretty much what I'm saying is that nobody is intentionally putting YOU or anyone else at a disadvantage so it's not bullying. Give the game a break and come back after the next patch.

  • You're not the only person that's stuck dealing with matchmaking being messed up right now. It would be bullying if you were being singled out, which you aren't. You've already said you refuse to adapt and learn how to play killer better, so what do you want anyone to do?

Don't see this game lasting another 2 years

Once Last Year comes out, DBD will have it's first real competitor. Looks like a fun and well balanced game from what I've seen of it.

  • Makes sense to work on the Doctor's map at the same time as the Doctor, no? At least that's what I've read is the reasoning.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

So, don't heal even though you don't know how to loop properly seeing are you are new... but go down in the next 5 seconds because you weren't at health state. Got it.

Then get messages about how much you suck and let the team down.

  • @Brucecastro81 said:

Every single game there's at least one guy freaking self caring in a corner, can't those guys understand that Self care is just a time waster??

Its a time waster until the guy that healed himself because nobody else would makes a clutch play... Yay! Solo queue!

  • I'm on Xbox. The only time I message anyone is to say "GG" to people in a match that made it fun and leave it at that. I don't ever look at messages because I'm usually playing solo and I'm better than your average casual player so I don't potato as much as most. The salt is pretty easy to ignore when you play casually. The Facebook group I'm apart of though...

  • I don't play it that much so I'm still pretty content. Probably about a couple hours every 3 days or so. I played the crap out of F13 and got bored really quickly so I made sure not make the same mistake on DbD.

  • The way I see it, things wouldn't seem so bad if it weren't for the fact that on both sides, people complain about tactics and things that are earned in the game. Killers complain about keys, toolboxes etc. Survivors complain about moris perks strats. Most of the people complaining simply refuse to learn how to adapt or want to use crutches and if they can't, they ruin the fun for everyone else or complain.

While I agree that some balancing needs to be done, especially to maps, killers to make them all equally viable, and solos to be on par with SWF but I also feel that people more willing to adapt their playstyle have the most enjoyable time. Personally, I really like this game but I keep a distance because I don't want other people's attitudes to effect how much I enjoy it.

  • I mean in my experience, killers always win... Not always but more often than I escape, killers win. Maybe they need to make more than a couple of killers viable to balance things out more. Smaller maps for sure.

  • 80 seconds is more than enough time to have to hold down a button... If all your survivors are doing gens uninterrupted to the point that they're getting done that fast, you need to switch up tactics.

I suck as a killer (R 20) and my last Trapper match was a 4k. All I did was apply pressure and use the tools at my disposal (crows, mostly) to be where they wanted to be by the time they got there. Then again, at this stage, I care more about learning than I do getting a 4k. A 1k usually makes me pretty happy.

  • I play on Xbox and yeah, from the amount of complaining on both sides to the amount of salty and whiny messages after a match, this is the most toxic community I've been apart of.

A lot of it seems to come from balancing and issues with the game itself, not people just being jerks though. Based on what I see from higher ranks, I don't think I care to go much higher than 10.

  • Just message ppl in the lobby or tell them in chat. I like to have fun while playing so if I have a killer message me and let me know they have a challenge to do, I cooperate with them and do what I can on my part to let them get some of it done.

Can't say I've run into any killers that cared about challenges that I had to do though.

  • If the killer is face camping me, I just hang there and chill, "finish what y'all are doing, killer isn't looking for you". Once the killer leaves I wave as if to say "killer is gone, be on the lookout, be quick".

To me, waving signifies that one is trying to hop off the hook which would honestly be dumb if the killer is right there.

At low ranks, killer queues are absurd, but red rank and purple rank killers get instant queues. Same goes for survivors, but opposite.

Thanks for explaining that. I've played off and on since launch on PS4 and recently switched to the Xbox version so I've still got quite a bit to learn. I'll most likely start out playing killer at rank reset. I rarely do as it is and I feel like I handicap myself as survivor by not understanding both sides.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Swf isn't "unfair". It's in the game just like camping tunneling and fast vaulting. They do buff killers all the time. I'm surprised people still play solo, killer is so much better.

Killer queue times are horrible for me personally. Not mention that most of my gaming friends are into shooters and GTA so they won't go near this game. Solo isn't that bad in my experience but I've never played SWF so "ignorance is bliss" rings true in my case.

    Thank you for that. 😂

    Couldn't have said it better.

  • @FancyMrB said:

How do you know they are lying? Better yet, instead of accusing people for camping just move onto the next match.

The scratch marks don't have to be right by the hook area either.... can't count the number of times I have seen scratch marks along the walls or in the distances heading towards the hook.

Sometimes you don't even need scratch marks. Survivors near by startle crow, rustle grass, or their breathing gives them away.

Survivor are not always as stealthy as they think they are, and instead of realizing the mistakes on their end they rather blame the killer for 'brain dead camping'. Of course this is DBD so its always the killer doing something wrong am I right?

I honestly see about 50/50 as far as salt goes. Survivors complain about killers and their perks. Killers complain about survivors and their perks. Its almost like people forget this is a game and take it too seriously.

  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem said:

I don’t get why killers have these insanely RNG challenges but survivors are like... do gens. Stun a killer with pallets. Escape with Claudette. Damn.

Do you know how hard it is to get heals and saves on people that play like idiots? Can't heal morons that run away or get safe hooks on people that run right at the killer upon being unhooked. There's RNG for us too. 😂😂😂😂

  • I don't actually use it unless I'm being altruistic and need to be able to take another hit. It's equipped on a couple of my survivors though.

  • Or adapt your skills to a point that you don't need to rely on ruin. I rarely see it on Xbox. I don't play often enough to care about ranks and I'm usually no higher that a rank 15 so that leads me to believe it isn't crucial for as many killers as some would like us to believe.

  • I mean... What kind of trapper doesn't camouflage their traps? It shouldn't require an add-on in my opinion.

  • Interesting because it appears that most killers don't care when survivors have a challenge to do... Almost like we all have our own to do or something and letting you finish yours means going into a match with another random person that probably just wants to 4k. I'll stick getting what I can towards challenges done during matches.

  • I help out killers that take the time to message me before the match or invite me to a party to let me know that they're trying to do a challenge. A lot of the time, I'm under the impression that the Killer will deceive me to get a hook or a kill once a match begins so I run away when I see one motioning. I haven't had any killers that I haven't spoken to before a match show me any mercy so, why would I show any?

  • My way of flipping the bird to the entity on occasion.

  • If I had fun and didn't think about how it is my last match for the day at all, I consider it a win.

  • Seeing the ranks allows me to know how seriously I need to play or if I can be chill. Also, I play solo so if someone else picks the same character that I did or 3 other people I can't communicate with bring in a toolbox or whatever, I can't help that and I'm not changing my playstyle/perks or who my favorites are to prevent killers from dodging just as I don't expect Myers players to stop using him.

There are killers I don't like going against but I suck it up and play the match. If one doesn't like the randomness of it all and wants to restrict what survivors can bring in so one doesn't feel the need to dodge, KYF exists.

  • You were a new player at some point too. Don't blame new or casual players for not being as good as people that do nothing but play this game as long as people that speak about them the way you do exist. There honestly needs to be a mode where rank doesn't even matter so new players can learn without being trash talked and lobby dodged.

  • Honestly, I just expect to get into a killer match in less than 5 minutes.

I like your outlook though, it seems that people take things too seriously and forgot that this is a game.

  • It needs something for those of us that like the game but don't care about ranks. I personally haven't gotten good enough to worry about rank and this isn't my main game so it's hard to keep up with seemingly weekly changes. A casual or non-ranked mode would help to allow new players and retuning players a place to work out builds and learn the basics without all of the salt.

  • First 4 matches with it equipped, it didn't even activate so I went back to using Dark Sense.

Far as I know, many survivors "communicate" that they are getting face camped, or that the killer patrols nearby via their "body language".

What I mean is, they attempt to struggle with the entity but they not really go so far that it would count as a struggle attempt. And that they make over and over again.

Have seen it multiple times as survivors and also a few times as killer when I was near by the hooked one, because I was on my way to damage a nearby generator and so on.

So, next time you are in this situation, try to do the same. I assume, not every survivor knows this part of "survivor-communication" and some survivors will also not care, because they will unhook you at all costs, but imo many survivors understand what it means if a survivor struggles in the described way on a hook.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to try that some time and see how it shakes out.

  • It would be cool if killers were subject to the entity's interference as well being that everyone involved is there ultimately for the Entity's benefit.

  • I had it happen a couple days ago against a Pig. Killer just sat around the corner from me. Luckily, since I play solo and can't communicate that, nobody wasted time and came for the rescue. My only problem as a solo survivor is that unless I bring in a certain perk, I have NO way of communicating anything to other players. It's all well and good to say "don't go for the rescue" but that's part of the survivors' job along with doing gens. As a solo player, I'm tired of seeing people DC after being on the hook for 4 seconds because they know more than likely nobody is coming to the rescue and don't want to stare at the killer while they just hang there. I also don't feel like losing a perk slot is a fair compromise when SWF doesn't need a perk to communicate either. If it's something like that, it needs to be an inherent ability otherwise, that means everyone has to adjust their playstyle to accommodate it which defeats the point of unlocking various perks. There is a such thing as unfun matches which, is fine but it becomes an issue when people are miserable while they're trying to learn the game because obviously, some players are more forgiving of new players than others. Survivors need to learn how to bide their time and learn how to put the pressure on the killer to leave the hook as well instead of just complaining all of the time. I don't know how many matches I've played where ppl see me LEAVING the area of the hook and keep heading TOWARDS it only to be downed because they couldn't understand what was going on and went for a save anyway.

Honestly, I've felt like a mode where rank doesn't matter, a casual mode if you will, would solve the issue for new players and a lot of players in general. Take away rank and most people will just play for the thrill and the fun of it. If people want to be ranked, they'd have the option.

I don't understand how am I crybaby for disconnecting, I put a perk on to use it not to waste it. He was salty at me for a stupid reason, then messaged me because I disconnected. Of course I'll be frustrated if I don't get to use my perk, it's a waste of a perk slot...

Well, you basically weren't going to get your way so you quit. Pretty common knowledge that the community for this games frowns upon disconnecting especially when you've clearly lost because you got hooked. You robbed that killer of a kill. Why do you think disconnects can get you banned?

Is it bold? If the Entity is just BSing her, the Spirit would cease to exist. Spirit is literally a creature of pure rage, doing what she does only for vengeance. If her vengeance was eternally denied, the very thing that fuels her would no more, and she'd stop doing the Entity's bidding. She'd have no reason to. It would completely ruin her purpose. Vengeance is all she is, she isn't chasing Survivors she has no beef with for fun: It's all to get at her father. But if he was promoted to be her equal, she'd have no chance. And that would be really bad writing. And before you say "well he'd like torture her" she's already been through the worst pain imaginable, so terrible it inspired a hatred that persisted through death.

Also like I said, the Entity passed him over for Rin. What do you mean the Entity grabbed him as well?

What if her dad becoming a killer enhances her vengeance?

Better make a forum post about this

To be fair, that seems to be the protocol on both sides of the aisle.

  • Fan art is pretty cool too.

Some folks out there are really talented.

  • Finding a combination of perks that works well for me. I've had the game for a while on PS4 and Xbox but I don't play much and haven't playtested a lot of the builds I have ideas for. Finding a build that gives me an amount of help to still keep matches challenging is defintiely my favorite part.

... Oh! I also really like Ash Williams 😂😂😂😂 that was a day one purchase.

  • Solo player here. Leave BT alone.

Gotta admit that I love the suggestions to take things away or nerf them instead of players thinking of how to adjust their playstyle to account for the things they don't like. That goes for both sides. I have to look at both sides because I do occasionally break out Legion or the Hag if I'm feeling extra salty about life and need to laugh at myself as I try to do well. Some things survivors complain about are in the same category: change thing K or S mains don't like so that I don't have to bother adjusting my strats.
