Expectations as a Killer (and sometimes Survivor aswell)
When you read the Forum, many threads have the same topic such as
"Killer are too weak"
"Maps are not ballanced"
"SWF Groups destroy me every game"
"As a Killer i should be the power role"
While i know it can be hard to be successful as a Killer, i am always asking myself and eventually the people what they expect from the game.
I found out (and i am sure many of you did aswell), that the majority of Killer mains considere a 2 or even a 3K as a loose.. some even think that anything else then a 4K before gens are finished is Loosing the Game.
Lower your expectations of the outcome of a round a bit. Playing Killer does not mean a 4K every time and it certainly should not.
Getting 2 Kills on average is what this game should be (and i think we are on a great way to be there) and this should also be your expecation.
Same with Survivors: Escaping every game wont work and it should not.. beeing able to get out fo the game 50% of the time is great. And when you are below the 50% (which i am), you are probably one of those guys who are going for the safe no matter what, or you are seeking for the Killers attention.
It is obvious but i still say it: The reason for that post is simply that you should change your expectations a bit. Be satisfied when you get a 4K every once in a while and dont be mad when you dont get any kills, that happens (and it has to happen for the sake of a ballanced game!). Forget the "Power role" nonsens and enjoy what we have (which is not perfect, but still fun and a great experience)
Kind regards

This is an excellent point! I think a lot of the War of th Mains comes down to people thinking if they lose it's the devs' fault.
The problem i see is also that so many people think that their role is superior. In most cases, many killer mains have this thinking, because... you know they are the Killer and Survivor dont have the "right" to escape.. best they can hope for is to live for a while.
While I do agree that killers should be the power role, I don't think they should be able to just stomp the survivors. I like the fun in the slight challenge, the only problem is gen times and OPTIMAL 4-man SWF.
I agree, the "us vs them" mentality plagues this game and makes certain decisions and changes a pain to deal with, take as example Spirit and insta heal nerfs, people going insane over small tweaks and calling unplayable garbage the new Spirit or saying insta heals are now a wasted add-on slot.
Sure, a strong team can be challanging, but many Killer mains act like they never get a kill vs a good team. I am pretty sure, if you are on the same Level as those survivors, even vs a good full team, you get an average of 1,5-2 Kills.
So many people come here, they get like 3x4K in a row and afterwards getting destroyed 1-2 rounds and are frustrated that "someone can do this to memimi". They forget the great outcome they had the matches before.
No, if I de-pip, I lose. Fix the ranking and emblem system.
Good point, but since as you mention the emblem system is not working, everyone has his rules of winning and loosing.
Honestly, I just expect to get into a killer match in less than 5 minutes.
I like your outlook though, it seems that people take things too seriously and forgot that this is a game.
Part of the problem is the widespread idea (unhelpfully perpetuated by certain streamers) that a pip is a win. People who subscribe to this belief feel like if they don't pip, they've done something wrong, which is why they may feel like a 2k, 3k or even a 4k under certain circumstances is a loss.
The reality is that Dead By Daylight has a clearly defined win condition which has nothing to do with how you score - kill people, or escape, depending on your role. An argument could be made that the ranking system doesn't reflect that as well as it should, but when it comes to game balance, internal mechanics and external things like the ranking system should be balanced around the central objective or win condition, not the other way around.
