Legion. Gets a lot of crap. Makes me learn how to improve my skills since I don't have NOED or anything for them and can't rely on perks.
-
The fact that people are bothering to make up excuses to tell strangers is pretty funny in itself. Like if I DC, I'm not explaining myself to other players, especially if I don't know them personally. 😂😂😂😂
-
Nah. If I need to be somewhere and I'm in a match, I'll let myself die instead of just DCing.
If I'm playing to the best of my ability and others aren't, I'm gonna let myself die.
Team bullying the killer and not doing objectives or unhooking? Guess what I'm gonna do.
-
I honestly feel like it because the game is broken more and more with each nerf/buff and because some killers only care about ranks and "winning", not actual fun, while some survivors only care about being obnoxious towards killers which ruins things for killers in general.
I suck as a killer, but I still have fun playing as them because I don't put pressure on myself to 4K or pip or any of that. I just try to entertain and be entertained.
-
I see your point but limiting it to Killer leaves it open to abuse as well. Say someone DCs and the killer has had a bad match up until then, they can choose to end the match? How about cases where someone's internet or power goes out and they have no choice but to DC? A voting system would be best. The proposed solution assumes that anyone that DCs does so on purpose and that killers don't DC themselves.
-
I don't want to rely on perks so I mix it up

Seconded

I honestly think taking toolboxes and such out of the bloodweb and putting them only in chests to find during matches would help matters. That way, survivors need to spend time looking for items to speed things up instead of having them right at the start. It would help with killers like Trapper that have a set up time as well as make it more possible for killers and survivors to cross paths.
I often wonder why there isn't something in place that makes survivors change their loadouts based on how many have something equipped, like if 2 people are using a toolbox, the other 2 have to slot in something else or have nothing. That goes for perks as well. In this way, people are forced to adapt and stop relying on "crutch perks". I know other survivors might hate it but I for one like to be challenged by using perks that aren't always the best.

I've been playing for over a year. I honestly preferred the old ruin because it was actually a threat. If my team encountered it we would usually spend a good chunk of time hunting it down instead of powering through tens. Now I can go a whole game and never even realize that ruin is in play
I can dig it.
I should clarify that I didn't mean you in the specific sense, it was more of a general use.

Here is my theory
Streamer and Youtuber. Some streamer and youtuber play toxic to make their gameplay more interessting to watch for their viewers.
People see this and think "hey, that's funny. I wanna do that too!"
And then many people play like this cause of their favourite content creators.
I have no proof of that. It's my just my guess.
That's probably not entirely off base. I personally learned how to play and got into the game from watching Ohmwrecker and more than likely subconsciously stole his playstyle, even down to having a bias towards Wraith.
-
I became a better survivor once I started playing as killers. I still suck as killer but playing both has lessened the salt and improved my skills. Seems to me people just want to win every match but not put in effort to adapt or actually get better, just want nerfs to things they struggle with.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
We all play selfishly and we'll destroy this community of our own accord. @PokemonGOPlayer, @Johnble and @kcwolf1975 might disagree with me here, but sometimes the best thing that we can do for ourselves is just to play nice with others. Not camp and tunnel, so that people may actually want to continue playing the game.
I also believe that it skews the dev's statistics, so they may not actually be able to balance the game properly with tampered results.
Like I said, I don't go out of my way to ruin anyone's fun. I don't teabag, rarely do I bring in items, I spread my attacks out as evenly as possible, if I get downed, I let the killer hook me without fussing about it. I play the roles in a way that wouldn't cause me stress if I were on the other team. It's a game, I'd rather have more funny or intense moments than won matches.
I know what fair plays look like and most often, I am victim to fair plays where someone capitalized on my mistakes.

I shouldn't have to completely change whatever build I'm using just to use the meta perks to escape. The whole point of this game is to have fun and if I'm just stuck using a meta build to survive against a now somewhat overpowered killer, it's not fun.
I've been playing for months and old doctor wasnt as bad. I dread any game against doctor because it's so difficult to get out with my own build
The devs shouldn't have to rework a killer because you refuse to adapt and use a build that can counter him.... As a new player, you should spend your time learning the basics and how to adapt, not suggesting changes to killers that give you trouble. If they change everything that survivors have a bit of trouble with, there's no challenge. Learn how to adapt. They just nerfed Ruin because new players complained about skill checks instead of just getting better at them.
-
I don't particularly "care" about the other side having fun but I don't care to go out of my way to ruin it either.

A lot of people (me included) are quite simply used to saying GG almost automatically after a match unless there was a straight up cheater in it or something. That's how it has been in most games I've played throughout my life.
If someone thinks "no, it was bg" in their mind when they see someone say GG they can simply not respond. If they look even more deeply into it and think it's some sort of ironic bait/mockery then.. well, in the vast majority of cases they simply think it's deeper than it really is. Most people would just use ggez or something if they really want to be trolls.
Not gonna lie, for a while I thought it meant "git gud" so it confused me. Too much Dark Souls, I guess 😂

Agreed. Ranks are just numbers, and yet people take so much pride in them as if they are beneficial in real life or something. I have been rank 20. I have been rank 1, and everything inbetween. I'm the same player that I have always been, just more experienced now. Don't worry about numbers, and just enjoy the game the best you can. Change is inevitable, and it's not always for the best. We just have to see where the pieces fall, and try to adapt as we have always done..
I'd almost say that rank could be done away with at this point. It really does feel like all it is in place for is bragging rights or an indication of how much someone plays the game. Doesn't seem to take into account the people that take a break from the game.
-
Just imagine they hopped over it like someone in real life would do....

I wish people would stop comparing "Gen Rushing" & "Tunneling".
Survivors can't reasonably escape without doing gens, while killers can absolutely win without tunneling off the hook, of course they can play as they want but they're separate issues and not comparable.
What is gen rushing anyway? I've been in matches where gens pop fast. I usually just assume its my fault for not getting anyone off of generators. I mean, I don't expect survivors to take turns working on gens...
-
Honestly, for a lot of people, this seems like a job more than it is a video game that they play to be entertained or to escape the troubles of the real world for a little while.
The killers vs survivors mentality outside of matches is getting really tiring.

Console players don't have this issue thankfully.
I mean, I would just turn chat off but I also recognize that not everyone can just ignore it and that it gets frustrating to deal with. A filter at the very least would help some of the problem.

We'll be mad at YOU because YOU control how you play. If you don't like it, find a different game, instead of using what the devs are doing to justify being a dick to other people that paid for the game just like you did.

I get people say that Gen times need to be slowed but if they do that then no survivors will do generators. In solo que I already have to do 2-3 gens by myself because otherwise they won't get done. It's boring as hell and after that they still don't do the other 2 gens either and we end up dying at 2 gens and I die on 1st hook usually. If they increase times even more then no one will do gens because it's super boring. They really need to spice it up. Maybe add more required objectives or something else. However like it was said in OhTofu's podcast, the average group of survivors are pretty bad. Its only the swf that actually know what they are doing is when killers start to have trouble.
This... It can't be easy to balance the game for killers, SWF, and solo survivors. It really feels like they don't care to make things between solo and SWF all that even which is why by and large, I agree with a lot of killer opinions. Both understand what it's like to be 1 person against 4, which is what solo survivor often feels like.
-
Imagine the reverse and you pretty much have the DBD forums lately.
-
I know how to adapt and use bunk perks anyway so I really don't pay attention to nerfs. Stronger killers means my skills get better. Different styles of play increase my ability to counter tactics.
The point remains that killer mains and survivor mains whine in equal amounts. Its the ebb and flow of things.

First of all i want to say english is not my native language so sorry for any mistakes.I was playing mostly killer, lets say 60-40%,spend 2,5k hours in this game, struggling with pathethic fps(console version) i got 5,5 kills but after devs announce to nerf ruin i just switch to survivor and now im play around 80-20 as a survivor.Im kinda understanding why devs change the ruin-it could be frustrating for the new players but it was just not the best time to do that because the game is poorly balanced on red ranks.Personally i hate ruin on both side and as a killer you lost 1 slot for perk after 1-3 minutes but this 1-3 minutes is really needed and crucial for killers thats why 80% peoples on red ranks was using this perk. Now its still possible to play as a killer but theres just no place for playing nice and have good round for both side, now killers have to sweat a lot to manage 2-4k while playing as survivor is chill and easy.I just wonder what could help this game? And i have some small idea.Give easy second objective on the begining to survivor that take 1-2 minutes to complete, lets say before fixing main gens they need to fix 5 "small gens" that each of this gens take lets say around 10-15 second to finish, survivor of course going to see the aura of this "small gens".Like i said this objective have to be easy and fast to make plus add some cool animation of fixing it and there you go-it could work.Of course it doesnt have to be exacly like i said but something that keep busy survivors in the begining of the match and doesnt change core of the game.
Either a secondary task or shrinking map sizes would probably work. Neither seem to be an idea that's being looked at despite how often both are discussed. They could be looking into it and just be staying silent for now though. They need to do something, survivor is getting boring with only gens and totems and some killers, selfishly the ones I play, aren't good at crossing bigger maps.

It's not that people can't win without old Ruin. It's that it requires a playstyle that survivors will cry about like crazy.
Killers cry just as much and seem to forget the nerfs that survivors had to deal with.
The entire survivor vs killers dynamic OUTSIDE of the game is the fault of both sides and pretty annoying at this point.
-
There's a very clear counter to NOED and if survivors aren't clearing totems, that's a survivor problem. Clearing totems is something I do as soon as I see one. Became second nature after the first few matches.
-
D. Look for the totem while also looking for the opportunity to save or distract.
I don't SWF so I dunno what I would do in that situation.

If killers disagree with nerfs they're "trash booted by the ruin crutch" and targeted with severe abuse but it's dev encouraged and endorsed for survivors to beg for more killer nerfs. Killers are "whining" if it bothers us while anything is free and fair game for survivors to compain about. I'm getting so sick and stressed out by it I'm minutes from a panic attack
Same thing happens to survivors. You can't pretend the salt and toxicity only comes from one side of the aisle. That's part of the problem.
-
Nah. I experiment with builds and such so it's far from boring. I only play maybe once or twice a week to keep myself from getting burned out in general though. I've actually started playing killer more now as opposed to just when I have a daily.

This is true. Even at rank 17 I was getting 4ks and I usually get at least 3k now. I used to main survivor and even at rank 5-6, we’d run into billy or Freddy who would be rank 18 and 4K.
I still get games as killer where I get owned by a strong swf. Due to ranking, I’ve been getting horribly matched on both sides. That being said, I tend to do okay as killer and still die often as survivor. I don’t understand at all this new thing everyone’s saying that killers are hard to play and games survivor sided? Maybe it’s a red rank killer thing as I’ve never been there, so I can’t comment.
Anything less than a 4k is unacceptable is what I've come to understand. I don't get it either, I play both sides and constantly experiment with perks so if I pull 2ks, I'm pretty happy and don't really care about escaping in most situations.

I think you are missing the point. I don't care what the survivors objective is, Its the fact that they escape with putting no effort in. They do not deserve the escape at all and its like a killer getting a 2k while being AFK.
They should just rework how the last survivor escapes, i don't know how they would do that but currently the hatch rewards horrible gameplay.
Also in order for the killer to kill the last survivor they have to put in effort but the survivor can do nothing and they still "deserve" the escape, nice double standard.
Surviving long enough to escape the killer IS doing something... It's outwitting you and everyone else long enough to survive the match. It's a bit of a scummy tactic but so is face camping and slugging, which are things that survivors need to learn to accept as part of the game.
-
Most of the people that play this VIDEO GAME as if it were a commission based 40 hour a week job with 401k matching are toxic in my opinion.
"If I see (insert skin, item, team comp here) I'm going to tunnel and camp!"
"If you hit me right when I get off the hook, you're a garbage tier baby killer!"
Pretty much anyone that tries to dictate how people use what the game gives them so THEY can have fun while ignoring anyone else's is a toxic DBD player.

I've run into Ruin several times from several different killers who were around my rank (rank 16). The first few times I encountered the perk, I had no idea what to do about it. Didn't even know you had to look for a totem. And I still can't hit regular skill checks confidently, let alone great ones. So, these Ruin changes will help me out immensely.
However, being horrendous at something at first is just the price of being new to a game like this, I think. There's so much about this game that takes experience and a bit of Googling to understand. Ruin was just another thing I had to learn to deal with like everything else about this game. Like, I still don't know how to loop a killer and I'll usually get caught almost immediately. I'm not going to ask the devs to slow the killer down though, lmao. But that's just my take on it.
I agree. Most of my concern is with getting better at chases. I just got a grasp on safe rescues and heals and I also play pretty casually so I just assumed that ruin was something that I would learn how to deal with or counter while working on improving in general since I'm not the best at hitting greats anyway. It was just one more skill that was needed to learn in order to keep up. Killers are supposed to be strong otherwise we may as well be trying to escape a room full of puppies.

If playing to win elicits frustration more often than it does fun... Why keep playing?

I'm gonna have to stop ya there. That SCP can move when nobody is looking, clearly an unfair advantage to killers.
In all seriousness, I feel bad for people that try to enjoy killer.
-
Your only allowed to play as an imposing statue. Sorry, yo.
-
They need to address map sizes and maybe consider giving survivors something to other than gens (just holding a button down is boooooring) and definitely even up the killers too. In my opinion every killer should be viable in some way on all ranks. Trapper in red ranks should play different but be just as deadly as Nurse for example.

Well tbh, i also only play solo survivor.
And i escape 80% of the time (playing both sides at rank 1), i never search for the hatch directly, but if i find sure i will take it.
But lets be fair.
As survivor you have only 5 gens to repair, even with ruin that can be done in 5 minutes.
And than open the gates and escape.
Now 99% of the time survivors start next or very close to a gen so the repairing starts almost immediately.
The changes a killer finds a survivor that fast is close to none ( on very tare occasions you start close to a survivor)
So by the time the killer gets his first hook, the changes are big 2 gens at least pop during that (unless that survivor sucks at looping)
Now the killer needs to hook a survivor 11 more times 🤔
So personally, if you can still screw up then as a team (even as a solo survivor), you don't deserve the escape.
If i'am the last survivor and not all gens are done, then i would care if i die.
I know i did well, cause the game lets me pip and i know all the things I've done to help my team.
Team is relative in this game. Just because I'm in a match with 3 other people, that doesn't mean we are a team. When we play like a team, we can die like a team. When we play like 4 ppl that don't care about one another such as someone on a hook with Kindred and you have 2 or 3 people doing nothing but crouching in corners and let someone get sacrificed, we aren't a team and I'm not willing to die with you. When no gens are done by the 2nd hook... There's no team. In matches like that I will locate the hatch just in case. I still heal and attempt rescues, do gens, get in chases etc but I'm not going to risk anything for folks that don't have my back.
-
I dunno then. You'd think they'd allow you to adjust it. Seems to be a lot of cause and effect between survivors being jerks and killers being jerks. Neither side wants to back down so unfortunately, those of us that just wanna have fun with a cool game are trapped in the middle and just have to deal with the fallout.
Hopefully you don't get too many matches like that in the future though.

Not necessarily gone.
But at least thry have to rework the keys and mori's.
I always thought of them as broken items/offerings and it still nothing has changed my mind about it.
And personally, yeah get rid of the hatch too imo.
As a survivor it is your job to repair 5 gens and open the exit gates.
If you and your team are unable to do so then you shouldn't escape trough the coward hatch.
Sure you might be the better survivor in that match and the other 3 might be weak af.
But that still shouldn't still be an excuse to get an easy escape though.
When i play survivor, i never care if i escape or not.
Only if i pip, that for me is a win.
If the game only awards a pip when escaping than yeah, i would make sure to get all gens done.
But even playing as if i won't escape, still gets me out 80% of the time, trough the gates an not the hatch.
Lmao! As a solo survivor, I have to say that you're idea about getting rid of the hatch sucks. I can't communicate with my team, nor do I know their skill level. If I get stuck with taters, and I'm doing well, usually that hatch is my ONLY chance at an escape and my reward for playing well. Maybe take it out of SWF matches but solo players shouldn't be punished for having teammates that don't know how to play.
-
I don't do it because I run Quick N Quiet but knowing that it annoys killers, I might take that perk off. If killers are going to lobby dodge, tunnel, slug, camp, target certain player because of skins or items they've earned, and pretty much get butthurt and act like they're the only ones that put money into the game, I'm gonna start being a bit of an a**hole myself. Why is this a forum post when nobody that replies can do anything about your volume settings other than yourself though?
