Or... How about they give a gamma option in-game. I have trouble seeing properly in rooms on hawkins or the game downstairs. You shouldn't have to play a game with your lights off just to see.

There is winning, even a decent solo queue team can find all the totems they need. It is difficult, but once it is out of the way they can start playing normally. The killer cannot be everywhere at once and if a survivor is being chased, this means a generator can still be done while at least one person is finding the totems. This kind of coordination is not as rare in solo queue as you might think either. Remember, the second that survivors realize they are dealing with ruin + undying they will immediately try to find the totems required.
I am also not sure how it is a lose-lose situation with the combo described. If you are doing a generator, you are knowingly doing something that has a chance to be completely reset when you could instead work towards getting rid of it. As for unbreakable, DS, or both, you don't know for sure if the survivor has either. Since most people run DS, you practically have to assume they are running it so you slug them, if you pick them up you are risking quite a bit. Cleansing a totem that isn't the right one is not exactly a loss, it is just you gaining some progress towards fully getting rid of ruin. Also, remember that ruin + undying can only last so long while unbreakable + DS can be stacked on four different survivors. DS + unbreakable simply has way more potential than ruin + undying. I can see why it is luck and rng based though, for both sides which is something that needs to be addressed. But then again...BHVR isn't exactly the type of company to address core issues with their game.
Ds/unbreakable also has the risk that you'll never get to use it. I stopped running ds because I legitimately get use out of it like 1 out of 100 games. Killers don't pick up ds if they're good and you don't need ds if killers are bad. Ruin undying is insanely strong and feels awful as survivor. Either you spend like 3 gens worth of time trying to break totems or risk having your gen time completely reset (gens are the most boring thing in game). I've once gotten my gen reset from 90+ percent 3-4 times in a match while my team dies. With 4 gens left.

I think it has to do with the lore of the entity and what it does. The entity feeds on hope I believe so eventually the survivors would lose hope and they'd have to be replaced by new survivors.

I haven't seen bloodlodge but as far as I have seen there are no more tank tread tiles and filler pallet spawns have increased, and being autohaven all of the filler pallet tiles you can see over and are decently strong
Maybe it was bad rng then but the map I got was basically all deadline and there were a few pallets in one corner. The rest was a deadzone besides the shack.

The pronunciation is due to dialects but yes, they have different meanings. Abuse as in monitor and abuse is referring to hit or hurting someone (domestic abuse for example). Where as abusing something is using it a lot as much as you want. (Not dictionary definitions but close enough)

first of all, fun is subjective.
regarding your "i cant loop them into oblivion" part, have you ever considered that maybe you will have to loop them differently than you do with any other killer?
yeah, if you try to loop a Deathslinger the way you would loop a Wraith you are going to die. every time.
Deathslinger, despite his great chasing ability is still loopable. you just need to use LoS blockers to your advantage and use gamesense to predict and dodge incoming shots.
you cant loop him as long as you can loop a Wraith, but you can still run him around for a bit - same applies to the others aswell.
Hag is someone you dont want to loop around her setup, so leave that area / ruin the setup whenever she cant use it (they should remove that dumb automatic cam focus on her phantom tho)
PHs faking ability has been nerfed just recently and while it still is there, you can play around it a lot better now.
Spirit is the only one in here where i think that she'd need some actual changes. first of all a bugfix so you can actually hear her footsteps again and then they should cut the chase music as soon as she goes into phase. that would be all the changes she, imo, needs rn.
Ahh yes holding w in chase is very fun versus other killers I have to actually watch out for mind games and things but deathslinger, hag, pyramid head, and spirit it's kinda just like oh your power just kills me with almost nothing I could do about it. I'm not saying they are op just saying that's what makes them, in my opinion, unhealthy for dead by daylight. This game isn't a 1v4 game it is a 1v1×4. The game needs to be balanced for the 1v1 and then change objective times accordingly and there will be better experiences on both sides.

Smurf accounts. Also beginning nof every month, u need to start deranking. Otherwise ur at where suppose to be at.
Survival rate should only be around 20-25%.
Unfortunately most survivors are entitled to survive 100% of their games.
The teammates are so bad in redranks that you escape maybe 1 out of 10 games (the 1 you actually get decent teammates. I literally had a 5 minute chase today and 2 still died.

@Mister_xD said:
they all have counterplay though...?
Hag - flashlights + ruining her setup whenever she picls someone up
Deathslinger - stealth and LoS blockers
Pyramid Head - stealth and not running in predictable paths
Spirit - when the bug is fixed, listen out for her audio cues, then react accordingly
these killers may be good in chase, but that doesnt mean they had no counterplay.
this game is more than just the chase you have with the killer. and just because the killer can beat you relatively easy in that, doesnt mean that they would automatically beat you in every other aspect of the game.
Ahh yes holding m1 on gens is very fun gameplay. Let's be honest chases are the most fun part of the game and when killers just ignore your loops it is frustrating considering it is why most people play the game. Hag is pretty much uncountable unless you know before hand it's hag or are in a swf bc solo teammates are trash. Deathslinger can just suck you around loops and hit you. Ph can still just fake his power and puts you in the lose/lose scenerio and I don't need to talk about spirit because she's almost universally considered anti-fun
-
I already saw a mistake that you didn't put at around 1:00 you broke a pretty unsafe pallet that if you didn't break would've started giving you your power which allows you to snowball easily. Also another thing I should say is to get infectious fright. It is literally god tier on oni and other slug heavy killers.
-
It's a perk that is not only situational (being downed inside a pallet) but also requires at least 2 perk slots to be even remotely useful (flip-flop) and even then you could just pick then up instantly to counter. The only way to abuse it is to have another teammate nearby pressuring the pallet save, in which case that is 2 people not doing gens which is still good for you.

Something a lot of people overlook is how much pressure the killer loses when he kills someone with a mori. The remaining 3 survivors don't have to stop what they're doing to go and unhook the (now) dead survivor. If people were messing around then sure, the game could snowball really quickly, but if the killer is having a little trouble getting survivors down in the first place, that's a loss of 3 gens.
Start using ebony mori in your games, you'll see it's not the instant win that it seems like.
It really is an easy win tho. Having 1 person dead is way more pressure than 1 hook.
-
This game promotes stealth to rank up. I can run the killer for 5 gens and not pip while the claudie crouching in the corner gets to rank up.

I'm going to be honest, I play a lot of killer and I think that would be a horrible change. There would be no mindgames or 'reading' anymore. There would only be survivors camping pallets which is boring for both sides.
-
I'm assuming this was on suffo pit? You really can't get mad at that map because the middle has basically everything for survivors to work with and you can do the 3 gen strat very easily on that map. Plus I seriously doubt 2 lt walls can loop a good killer for a long amount of time even when chained together.

Tons of conflicts? People who actually get mad over "haha let me press this button over and over" really need to just calm down and chill.
-
Do you really get that mad by someone pressing a button in a video game that you want it removed? Teabagging is a thing is almost every pvp game and it isn't removed nor is it punished in any way. So why should it be in this game?

"I think you being hyperbolic when using the term losing situation. That terms implies that its a perfect strategy that that always work 100 percent of the time when it can sometimes have the opposite effect."
The only time it's not working is player error. Otherwise yes, it is working every time if the person plays correctly. That said, even it wasn't 100% of the time that is irrelevant. That wouldn't change my point being accurate at all.
"And you can potentially argue that resilience is a second chance perks since it provides a buff to action speeds and also can extend chases if used well, which by your logic also provides a losing situation."
I could see that argument if it was substantial enough to matter in the chase. However, it's not. The effect is near placebo it's so small.
If you're in a deadline with no pallets, dead hard does almost nothing against a killer that baits it out. There's your downside. Sprint burst, lithe, or even balanced would be more useful in a deadzone because they give a lot more distance.

I usually see some sort of tunneling or camping every 3 games at rank 1. I usually play survivor and the killer almost always comes back to hooks. 2/3 of the time they actually go for the unhooker but 1 out of 3 they just hard tunnel the unhooked survivor and then either pick up or just camp the body until ds is gone. Face camping isn't very common but proxy camping is happens quite often, especially if the killer is trying to make sure a survivor hits the struggle phase, it really sucks because in solo que sometimes people just don't save for whatever reason.

I'm calling it right now - Dead Hard will get buffed.
In all seriousness though - Freddy isn't OP, and boring is subjective. He's not unbeatable, he's not even hard to loop. You just have to do it differently. I also believe there's nothing wrong with having a killer in the game that isn't hard to use. There's nothing wrong with a low-skillcap killer that can deliver high gains.
Fair enough, freddy is basically the 4 man swf of killer so I see no problems with that. I must say spirit or nurse is better but requires more skill to use obviously. He definitely isn't unbeatable and I never said he was. It just requires being hyper efficient which is pretty much impossible in solo que where teammates get knocked in 0.2 seconds. If anything, solo que needs a buff because I swear the teammates I get urban evade the whole game and never touch a gen.

Welcome to the world of a killer.
You don't think it's boring for killer to be 59 second DS'd? Have a chase extended because someone hit E for distance (aka, press button for value)? Why is your fun the only fun that matters? Why can't killers have one killer that gives them the feeling of carelessness and greed that survivors have?
Again - saying "you're forced to loop Freddy the same every time" is LITERALLY a complaint that he can't be looped like any other killer with no anti loop. That's LITERALLY synonymous. They are not mutually exclusive.
I honestly am with you I also play killer but I want things to be fun for both sides, the devs I believe have said that they are changing DH to do something else entirely so that fixes that issue. Ds still needs to be changed so it's not "haha you cant touch me for a minute" but it's pretty much impossible to win against a good freddy, spirit, or nurse without 4 man gen rushing swf. It's hard enough winning nowadays in solo que where I have to do 4 of 5 gens then get out with hatch.
-
@Ace_Ventura said:

So basically - what you're saying is (clever wording, btw, but you're not getting away with it) he's boring because he forces you to loop differently then any other killer that DOESN'T have anti loop. That's literally what you're saying, and veiling it as "I have to loop freddy the same as all the other freddys". When in reality - it's not being able to run in a circle, hit E to outplay for distance etc that makes him boring for you.
No that is not what I am saying at all, if it actually took skill like huntress, hillbilly, blight, I'd be all for having to loop differently and adapt your playstyle to the killer at hand but when it's literally just press a button for value (hypocritical survivor I know) then that's when it's boring. I like dodging hatchets and chainsaws not being forced to run into a pool and get hit no matter what.

"Boring" is a veiled term for "I can't run in circles constantly to loop him". Same reason I've heard people call CLOWN of all killers boring. Weakest killer in the game, but because he can make you medium vault a window with his gas, he's boring.
He's boring because it forces you to play in the same way at every loop and waste pallets like a rank 20 meg. Greeding is non-existent against them which for me is very fun and rewarding if the killer respects the pallet or swings early.

How is that a good thing to keep? It nullifies the purpose of her power.
Because it actually starts to introduce counterplay and actual mindgames rather than. Oh you just phased to me and I had no idea where you were. It makes it from a 100% guess to a read on the survivor side because you can still moonwalk and the survivor will think you are on the other side of the pallet. Plus it really isn't that much of a nerf. The spirit is over 2 times as fast as the survivor (I think) so knowing where you are doesn't really do anything except in very specific situations. I've played spirit with the new 'nerf' and got 4ks easily. Don't believe trutalent saying she is 'dead' at high level play.

So during the failed MMR, I guess the piles of rank 20 survivor bodies were meaningless. The logic that ranks mean nothing is so faulty
thwre is a direct correlation between rank/time played/skill
There is not a direct correlation. I do agree however, that there is some correlation. I've seen devotion 10s that get mindgamed on the shack pallet. These people are red ranks who get mindgamed on the downed shack pallet.

Whenever this happens I try and get the survivor that is actually trying to show me where the other one is by downing them and then letting them wiggle. I love when killers do this when other survivors are being useless.

people find versing regular m1 killers boring as well because of how easy it is to win chases, the uncertainty and mindgames that come with unique powers is what makes the game "fun"
If you against a good killer, even if they are legion or another m1 killer it is still easy to fall for mindgames especially on certain tiles.

Yeah....no mither/tenacity or unbreakable/tenacity kinda takes care of that.
So many posts like this go out, and the only thing I can think of is that it's just survivors that either won't or don't want to play perks outside the established meta.
Scream perks? Calm Spirit. Aura reading issues with perks like Undying? Distortion. Seriously, this isn't that hard.
There is no way to tell what kind of perks the killer will bring or how they will play before the match. So how do you counter that again? Those perks become pretty much useless if the killer doesn't slug/have very specific perks.

While bnps are pretty strong, I don't think they are overpowered. Getting 1 gen done fast early game isn't that good and is much better to pressure separate gens. Also nowadays with gen times you are likely to lose around 3 gens for your first hook anyway.

It will probably be eventually removed (years from now) after they balance a lot of other things.

chases is pretty much the only thing one can really enjoy as survivor.
Playing survivor in general is pretty much a "loading bar" simulator.
You work on a gen, but the only thing you do when working on a gen is looking at a loading bar while hitting space bar every now and then.
Healing? same thing
Totems? same thing but no skillchecks.
In red rank most games will usually include not only one but maybe even 4 survivors that are looking for your attention.
Then we do have a good hand of survivors who enjoy playing stealth with urban evasion + blendette cosmetics cause they probaly havent learned yet how to mindgame and handle chases propely. But once you do, chases is pretty much the only thing u want as a survivor
I agree, chases are the only thing that are actually fun. Killers like spirit and pyramid head are killing the game. Slowly but surely.

Not more than an average Deathslinger aiming. Again, a good Huntress will hit you just the same as a good Deathslinger, and due to the different hitboxes so will an average huntress compared to an average deathslinger.
The Charge Up is nothing as it all boils down to the players.
But you know somewhat when she is going to shoot and you didn't bring up the main annoyance is that he can fake his power with no punishment whereas huntress has a long cool down after she puts away a hatchet.

Logic of pro-rage quitters: they wouldn't be rage quitting if BHVR fixed their problems.
Logic of anti-rage quitters: BHVR do something to discourage ppl from quitting. DC penalties and removing the ability to suicide on hook.
Honorable mention: game is trash/buggy with disconnects and glitches that require disconnecting.
If they remove suiciding on hook then people will just go afk. There is no real way to stop people who don't want to play out a match.
-
This is why the game will never be balanced. You can get the same map with either 14 pallets or 8 pallets according to Scott Jund and this is on autohaven. I think it was wretched shop in the video but you can be screwed by rng as killer or as survivor.
-
Billy using saws takes a lot of skill, huntress (provided she's not using iridescent) also requires skill to hit hatchets from both close and far ranges. GF requires a lot if you are actually sneaking up on people. Most m1 killers need a mindgame or something to get a down on good survivors usually so that requires some sort of skill. You will use as even the strongest killers if you don't know what you are doing but some require a lot less than others. The killers that many people call boring (spirit, freddy PH) generally need less skill to get downs vs other killers. Such as billy or huntress. I'm not saying they are overpowered because any killer in the game by just doing gens efficiency but they are definitely pretty oppressive in chase and not much you can really do to stay alive unless the killer doesn't understand their power.

You still have no idea when it's coming, she could hold it for ages and then cancel or throw instantly. That's where your prediction comes in.
Yeah but you at least have some idea and can say "okay I need to get behind something" instead of just getting instant sniped with no way to know when he was going to shoot. Hence counterplay.

Imma just quote myself:
Knowing when she might throw it doesn't make it completely dodgeable, knowing where she will throw it makes it dodgeable.
Yeah obviously, but you have a much higher chance of avoiding something if you have a general idea of when it is coming. With deathslinger you have no real idea of when he could shoot because he has instant ads.
-
If you want more killers at least like Cone Head then you might as well just remove windows and pallets all together and make the game a hold W simulator because that is basically all you can do against him. You can sometimes vault windows if you're far enough away but pallets are pretty much useless unless they are like the shack pallet and you pre-drop it
-
@Leachy_Jr said:
The argument mainly comes from not being very good against him, also you made very good points.
Huntress has the exact same projectile speed when fully charged with the hitbox of a train and apparently you can dodge that.
If you can't dodge slinger, you can't dodge huntress. Take your pick.
Yeah but here's the thing, huntress actually has a windup to tell you when she could be getting ready to throw a hatchet. Deathslinger can just instantly shoot you with no way to react.

I don't know if we're allowed to talk about other games for too long here, but in my experiences counselors really aren't that op in that game, unless they get really good rng. Also you can throw knives so nobody can run around a table for that long.
I'm on console so maybe it's different but it's pretty hard to use knives effectively and plus there are so many sprays on the map too.

Yeah but there's other games with worse ratios like 8:1 (Friday the 13th) that can still balance the game much further than dbd. Naturally killer will be harder than survivor but killers get almost nothing to work with, compared to survivors.
Friday the 13th is not balanced. If the counselors get lucky, they can get a car going and be out in less than 2 minutes. All a counselor has to do is run around a table with Vanessa and the rest of them can escape. And don't say I don't know what I'm talking about because I've played lots of Friday (over 100 hours easily) counselor is extremely easy and the only thing the killer can do is use their phase-shift and get a really good teleport.
-
@ClickyClicky those are completely separate issues that need to be addressed in another thread. I say that the devs should balance on what is fun and I find pyramid head and spirit very unfun killers to verse simply because they ignore any sort of looping so that a rank 20 would still go down in the same amount of time as the best survivor in the game no matter what the survivor does.
-
Counterplay for me means chase interaction. Yes a lot of killers if played perfectly leave the survivor with no options. However against a huntress I can see what is going on, I can see if she is raising a hatchet I can dodge it, I can bait her into raising a hatchet at a pallet. I can see everything she is doing. Against a spirit I can't tell if she is phasing, I cant tell where she is or anything like that. Against a pyramid head, all he has to do is fake his power at a power at a pallet, I'm getting hit no matter what. If I drop it I get hit by his rites of judgement if I don't he instantly cancels it and I get hit normally. The only thing you could possibly do in that situation is 360 the killer and even then you won't make it far before he catches up. There is no interaction there. I don't like saying no counterplay that much, I would rather people say the killer is too oppressive in the chase.
