  • My only bad experience with a TTVer was when I noticed that she seemed AFK somewhere in the corner while I was dying on the hook. After I died, I checked her stream to see why I wasn't saved and it turns out that she was doing some mini game thing with her chat for a DLC giveaway, lol. When I died, she was like "Oh no! Anyway, the winner is..."

While that annoyed me a bit, I left the stream without saying anything and moved on to have a better game.

Unless the killer/survivor does something cool or strange that I'm curious about, I don't usually care enough to check the stream out. They're like any other player to me.

So, if you get that angry when TTVers put on a personality they think will get them viewers (because that's all it is), then you should do the same. Don't look them up.

As for camping/comms--yeah, man. It's a good idea to just step away if all of these things make the game unfun for you, because they likely aren't going away. Hope you enjoy Elden Ring.

  • I'm not sure why your go-to method to get it was to let everyone die? I did this challenge the first time I tried it.

I just brought an offering to spawn the hatch by the shack and then played normally. When gens were done, I 99'd one gate, made sure the other was also 99'd, and then I hid near shack. Everyone ended up escaping and I got the hatch. It actually sounds way harder to hide and wait until everyone dies.

I've done all of the survivor challenges and most of the killer challenges, and none of them required me to throw the game. Need to sabo hooks? Bring the add-on that doesn't alert the killer. Need to get unhooks? Bring Kindred + Borrowed Time.

  • Oh, something like this happened to me. I went against an Oni that only downed and hooked one person all game. When the exit gates were powered, two other survivors were teabagging and flashlight blinding him while he just stood at the entrance. So, I ran up to him and pointed towards the nearby hook and let him kill me.

In my very next game, I get another Oni. He chased me for a bit, but I quickly noticed that he wasn't going to hit me. He nodded at me and walked off. Turns out it was the same guy just trying to learn Oni.

Could be something like that. Maybe the survivor did something funny that made the killer like them or maybe the killer recognized that survivor.

Trash talking at the end, though. I'm not sure. I want to believe it was wholesome, but it could also be a case of a killer recognizing a survivor willing to screw over their team.

  • I hate it when I play as survivor too. The number of times I've been on the hook and had to watch some poor Meg try their hardest to figure out how to get to me is too high. I hate this map when I'm playing killer, and I hate it equally as much when I play survivor.

Every time I load in, my finger hovers over the DC button. I never press it, but the hatred I have for this map is too real.

Nope. It's not BMing. I just find it hilarious that people are ok with standing at the exit gate for 2 minutes asserting dominance. But the second someone wastes their time by slugging them out. It's a problem

I want people to keep that same energy. If you're not ok with getting slugged. Then never stand at the exit gate until the final tick. Never make the killer force you out if it's unnecessary. Leave if you know everyone is safe.

A killer choosing to waste everyone's time by bleeding people out unnecessarily is not BMing, but survivors who waste time standing at the exit gates to teabag... are? Or do you mean neither is?

I'm just confused because OP didn't bring up survivors, so this stubborn whataboutism doesn't make sense. You and someone named "Angry Killer" are the only people bringing up survivors as though they're part of a monolith.

But either way, BMing is BMing. If it happens and you get upset, move on or take a break. Your "side" isn't some underdog fighting back against evil when you target random people who had nothing to do with whoever BM'd you in the previous game.

Yea so ? No different then survivors spending 2 minutes at the exit gate t bagging

    ??

So, you agree it's BMing? I'm not quite sure what your point is.

I just think it's bizarre how some of you have absorbed the side you "main" into your identity, to the point where someone bringing up BMing from the "other side" is met with "but survivors/killers do this too!"

The community is filled with toxic people from all sides. It sucks when it happens but, since you can't really ban people for doing it (outside of hateful the messages), it's best to just move on.

  • @AngyKiller said:

    Nope.

If Survivors tell Killers that 'crouch spam is not toxic', then slugging for a kill is not toxic. At least Slugging is for a purpose; winning. Crouch spam is a blatent middle-finger, as it's done after dropping a pallet, or at the exit gates.

Note that OP said the killer "bleed [them] both out." They weren't describing a killer who slugs for the 4k, but one who slugs both remaining survivors after catching the last one just because.

Had a Ghost Face do that to me and another random. He slugged her, I didn't want to waste my time hiding so I tried to pick her up, then he downed me nearby. We both bled out while he teabagged for a bit and then, presumably, went AFK.

It is BMing. Weird of you to "us vs them" it by bringing up survivors BMing for some reason.

  • His main power works like Nurse with a built in flannel add-on. He can also shoot chains that slow down the survivors. A sub-ability allows him to teleport to survivors working on a puzzle cube, which survivors need to complete to get rid of the tormented effect.

So, from what I've seen so far, he's Nurse with a dash of PH, Deathslinger, and Freddy.

  • Meg was condemned to spend an eternity getting maimed and killed in gruesome ways.

    Let girlie have this one.

  • If only licensed characters had linked sets, then that'd be fine. But this doesn't explain why original characters had to have fully linked sets. I only liked Yun-Jin's blue hair and only wanted the set because of her hair. The stupid outfit can be linked, whatever, but why the head piece? And Huntress' Moredo outfit is too annoying to wear unglitched. The linked weapon takes up a third of the screen.

  • Élodie and/or Claudette. I have Élodie's hair texture and skin tone, but I also wear glasses and am awkward.

Anyone who says "it's just a button press, why are you getting mad" is asking you to ignore the fundamentals of human communication. By that logic, words have no meaning and are just disjointed syllables.

It's a bad-faith argument and always has been. I think the smiley face says it all here.

Crouching up and down has several meanings, though. The meaning can range from "thank you" to "good bye" to "haha I win" and etc.

Like, there was a killer that came here a while ago that described the epitome of a meme game, and at the end he complained about the survivors t-bagging after he let them go. But what he described was most likely a "thank you" crouch that many survivors do after being shown mercy. There was another instance I remember where a survivor was crouching at his teammate for a heal and the killer saw it and assumed it was directed at them.

Not saying this applied to OP, but in general some of you really need to take context into account instead of zeroing in on someone pressing a button a few times. If the match went well and there wasn't any other instances of toxicity, then there's no reason to assume you're being insulted.

  • Why would you report, lmao? I mean, honestly, who cares? It's a glitch in the game that's been around for a while. He's just using the cosmetics that he paid for how he wants to.

  • No, I got mine for free and I'm glad for that because the killer himself is so disappointing. I was really excited and optimistic about him at first, but actually playing him was just awful. Just me saying to myself "I could have just M1'd you" over and over again.

Also, you don't know true frustration when a survivor finds a good loop or manages to escape chase and the laceration effect starts to disappear, effectively rendering the time it took you to throw the knives worthless.

  • I treat them like every other survivor. I mean, I'll take note that it's there and look out for the hatch when it spawns, but if they're able to key out then oh well.

Idk how they would do it but the bottom line is camping and hard tunneling need to go and the killer mains claim they play like that because gen speeds are too fast so increase them a little bit in order to appease them.

Camping/hard tunneling are usually tactics killers resort to when gens start popping, yes. However, I don't like the idea of "punishing" killers who do this. Those who do it to BM won't care about a penalty, while killers who were forced to camp/tunnel will just get penalized on top of having to deal with a probably unfun match. The only thing I can think of to fix the issues is to just create perks that address them. It's a band aid fix, but I'm not sure how they could change the game mechanics without really hurting one side or the other.

  • How would you punish killers? There's no way to accurately tell if a killer is camping to BM vs camping because another survivor decided to loop near the hook or it's a last resort to secure a kill. How would the game tell if a killer is tunneling to BM vs a killer who leaves to hook, can't find anyone else, and goes back to the hook only to find the recently hooked survivor because the unhooker decided to hide? And gen speeds? It is incredibly boring to sit there and fix a gen. Making them even more tedious to do isn't the answer.

I feel for your condition never thought about that and hope you can play alright in all your games ...is that the only killer that does that to you?

Yeah, it's only Doc. It's not really painful or anything. Definitely not something to complain about (in my case, at least). The effect is like the visual equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. Most of the time I can bear it, but other times it's just too irritating, especially when I'm getting shocked continuously. Like, I remember one Doc just spammed his power during a chase. Not sure if he was trolling or just getting a feel for the power, but I had to go, lmao.

  • DCing against Doc specifically? Most of the time people are just being petty. But there is a legit reason not to play against him. His power can cause discomfort. For instance, I have sensory processing issues. The madness effect on the screen can sometimes be overwhelming and the shock itself can sometimes cause me to actually flinch, which can get annoying, so I'll have to DC. It doesn't get so overwhelming all the time, but I still have to put my comfort first. This is just a game, after all.

  • Did you check the surrounding area thoroughly? If I'm close to finishing the gen and the killer is coming, I'll finish it and just hide. I won't try to sneak away or run. I'll still be close to the gen, just be behind a tree or something. This sometimes actually works, lol.

It was the same with FT13. It was rare to find other counsellors that actually wanted to be civil and just play the game. It was either people being homophobic / racist or them telling you how to play the game without actually knowing how to play it lol.

People already find ways to be incredibly annoying without a mic. Just imagine how much worse it’d be with.

I feel like I’d die so much as I’d be too busy arguing with people. 😂

I usually stay away from games with voice chat for this exact reason, lol. Sure, I could always mute everyone, but then I'd be put at a disadvantage because I'm either a) missing call outs or b) getting sandbagged for not responding. There's also just the fact that some people have disabilities or other barriers that can affect communication.

Pretty sure that adding any form of voice chat to this game would alienate those of us who were drawn to this game because there was no voice chat. I certainly wouldn't have purchased this game if voice chat was available, and I definitely would quit if it was added.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

Also to add to my previous comments, I don’t see how voice chat would help me, who’s a solo player. How does having teenagers playing music down the mic help me? Or being shouted at in a foreign language? Or somebody trying to dictate to me how I should play the game? I’ve only had a few scenarios where I’ve met nice people over mic. The majority of people that go on mic during online games are the biggest wastes of oxygen you can find. I just don’t see how or why this is needed.

Exactly this. Proximity chat wouldn't buff solo-queue much, if at all. It would be exactly the same except instead of peace, you'd get something like:

    "I'm working on gens!"

    "Who cares, [insert racial slur]."

Most strong SWF teams are strong partially because they know and can rely on each other to communicate.

  • Bad words? On MY Christian murder game? It's more likely than you think.

  • I played against a Hag who had NOED. One was downed and hooked near the gate. This was solo queue, so there was no way to coordinate. Me and the other survivors just kind of stood by the gate because the Hag was camping. But then all of a sudden I just ran for it and someone else followed. The person behind me stepped in a trap and the Hag teleported to it, I unhooked the guy and then also stepped in a trap as I ran, and the unhooked guy went down while running toward the gate. It was hilarious to me. A 1k turned into a 3k, but it was fun.

The killer was pretty hateful about it, though. I said GG. And then they started insulting us. It was bizarre. You won?? Why are you so mad lol

  • Chill. There are so many variables and bugs that can determine a match, that playing 'to win' would infuriate me. Like, sometimes you're just competing against the game itself, lol.

I just whack people with my weapon and have fun. I don't care if I win.

  • Yeah, this forum is extremely killer-sided, but that's because killers have more reasons to air their grievances, lol. Survivors aren't OP, but it's not difficult either, especially if you're in a SWF. Meanwhile, playing some killers can be frustrating. There are some that are underpowered, have useless perks, etc. Plus, I'm sure getting BM'd by four people can wear on people's nerves.

  • Yep. I really, really hate that the laceration thing decays so quickly. Because the gameplay is just a matter of catching a survivor and throwing bullshit at them, hoping they don't stumble onto a good loop where your blades could disappear.

The thing is even people that haven't seen a single movie of his can find him scary, as said even tho his design is basic it gets the message across that he empty and dangerous.

The fact that you are comparing an iconic horror slasher to a original idea a game is also flawed, ALL we have for the trickster is a backstory consisting of a few paragraphs meanwhile Myers has movies to back up his nature. That means we have more content to make us afraid of him because we know what he is capable of more so than just reading it in under 5 minutes.

It doesn't matter if your argument is "if Myers' was an original DBD creation... people would call his design lazy" the realty is that he has content to back him up and the trickster doesn't and there is also fear in basic things. Having too much detail can make things no longer scary, what matters is if you get the message across with the creation and Myers. does. just. that.

I hate to break it to you, but I've never seen any of the Halloween movies partially because I don't find Myers interesting. The movies just seemed boring to me, but that's because I'm just not into that genre of horror.

As you've said, Myers' design isn't the main reason why people are afraid of him. They're afraid because they are familiar with who his character is. The simplicity of his design gets the message across that he's supposed to be this empty being, yes. But his story is what is supposed to scare you. Likewise, the Trickster's design gets the message across that he's supposed to be this chaotic psychopath. He's happy to be in the Entity's realm. He's putting on a show. That's his character. If you don't want to familiarize yourself with his lore, that's fine. I'm sure if I cared enough to watch one of Myers' movies I might like his character more. Different things appeal to different people.

  • @AChaoticKiller said:

I legit find clowns elephant cosmetic more scary then the trickster at full prestige.

The problem for me is that it is base kit and I like scary or dark looking cosmetics, neon and colorful stuff should be a cosmetic option imo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1992546#Comment_1992546

The majority of people won't look at him and recite that whole thing in their head, for many of us it's the appearance of a character that is more impactful. Like i personally don't care at all about any character lore, I have read them but they don't go with me to my matches so for me the trickster is just some colorful dude with a bat and throwing knifes.

If Myers' was an original DBD creation, then I'll bet half the people here would call his design lazy. There are plenty of killers who are not scary just based on their appearance alone. Like, who is seriously afraid of a woman in a pig mask? Or an edgy teenager? I mean, fear is subjective, but come on. This killer isn't that out of place.

No, what I am doing is saying that someone saying that Myers isn`t scary is stupid. There is a reason why the Halloween movies have raked in 100`s of millions of dollars in the box offices. He is an iconic character that is known around the world that people go as far as to dress up as. You want to defend Mr. Kpop, thats fine but you shouldn`t crap on and probably leave worldwide established characters out if you want people to take you seriously.

The point is that Myers doesn't look special. He's just some guy in a mask. What makes him scary is his lack of humanity, his emptiness.

    And the big knife.

If you read this new guy's lore, he's just as terrifying:

He targeted those who lived alone, coming to them in the night. The first was a college student with a fire escape that led to her living room window. Ji-Woon woke her with a baseball bat to the skull, binding her arms and legs, gagging her with a rag duct taped into her mouth. He tortured her for hours, dissecting her alive. Yet there was something missing—a connection. He wanted to hear her pleading as he cut her belly open, but all he received was muffled cries through a rag.

    He learned and adjusted.

Victims had to be abducted, driven to an abandoned building where he could let their voices carry unrestrained emotion. He made music from them, prodding in the right places to evoke different types of shrieks and howls. Stabbing the quadratus lumborum elicited a long, guttural wail, while slashing the carotid artery created a sound similar to a cat being strangled. There was honesty in their suffering. Ji-Woon recorded each session, synthesizing and working them into his songs, hiding them behind layers of melodies.

I don't even pay attention to these comments anymore. Remember when Deathslinger was "worse Huntress" and that he should be 115%? Or when Pyramid Head was the weakest killer in the game? Or that Blight's power was only useful for mobility?

His knifes are pretty neat on some loops. When people start getting better with the aiming I'm sure he has potential to at least be B tier.

I was watching someone's stream and they threw a knife at a generator in shack and it ricocheted off the gen and downed a survivor that hid in the corner, lmao. Simultaneously the dumbest and coolest thing I've seen in this game.

So, I mean, he definitely has potential. He's not better than Huntress, but he doesn't really have to be.

Edit: I thought ricocheting was basekit, but apparently it's not. :(

  • Yes. It came out. And I laughed so loudly when I saw the killer lmao. Not what I expected at all.

  • The most recent Tweet by BHVR was pretty much an announcement. It's in Korean, but it roughly translate to "Finally! SpO is released today!"

I'm assuming SpO, which is probably "spoiler" abbreviated, means PTB.

in PTB day? Comment by gemjas
  • If the match was that chill, why would you automatically assume the t-bagging was mean spirited? Might have been a thank you t-bag in case you were on a different platform and they couldn't say it to you post game. Or they may have thought you were memeing since you chased them with a survivor on your back. There is no other way to communicate in the game, so you have to take everything else into context.

They could be a Hacker. Which would explain the glitched Logo they had before.

Lmao, I immediately thought of that one guy who streams himself hacking DBD. So, a hacker with an entertainment platform? Maybe.

But does anyone know if they've ever teased the Survivor by themselves before?

    @Science_Guy said:

The thing is, when do they ever tease the Survivor? I don't believe we've even seen the Survivor in a teaser trailer since Kate.

I think it's a Korean, tech/hacking killer. A survivor streamer wouldn't be all that different from what we already have in Feng, but a killer based off that could feel like a change of pace.

Yeah, I was just thinking that. At first I assumed the glitch effect for the previous teaser was for the killer, while this one was for the survivor. But that would be too similar to the Doctor/Feng DLC.

  • It might be a teaser for the Survivor. Looks like they're a streamer or something, which is also probably why BHVR tweeted a picture of Feng in front of those monitors.

  • According to DBD leaks, Crotus Prenn Asylum and Autohaven Wreckers were disabled. Offerings won't work.

  • The PTB was basically just telling the player base that "this is how it's going to be, get used to it." It was always going to go live. When it became apparent that the player base hated it, they said that they only had 3-4 days to do something about it. And in those 3-4 days they chose to adjust the terrible UI for colorblind players (when injured, instead of glowing red, there is a slash on the icon now).

It is just incredibly baffling to me that they would change the UI at all. It's even more baffling to me that they didn't show the community their ideas before putting resources into it, so that their "months of work" could have actually included player input.

  • Screenshot 2021-02-10 15.04.03.png

Not_Queen is answering questions on Discord now. This stood out to me, though. I'm not sure if I missed the context of her answer, and I'm hoping I am, but it sounds like they can revert the changes--but won't?

However, to be fair, Not_Queen also said:

"I am trying to get you answers but there are discussions happening at the moment between the team and I have to wait until these are resolved and a plan is cleared out before I can communicate about it."

So, maybe there's still a chance that things will be changed.

  • No, actually. I can't play it anymore. Not because of some protest, but because the new UI actually disorients me. It's uncomfortable for me to play.

  • I know all of these points have been mentioned many, many times but it's worth repeating.

    jc7d29p7jng61.png hb38pftpjng61.png

Credit to user In7tinct4 on Reddit.

Please implement of version of this UI instead.

    1. All information is in a compact, easy to see location. Instead of glancing all around the screen, all relevant information is easily accessible. In addition, the placement is in a location that isn't very important for the player (i.e., it's not in the way). It can be disorienting/distracting to constantly see this information all over the screen.
    2. The current portraits contrast terribly with the UI design, replacing them with the adept portraits would be easier on the eyes.
    3. The injured, downed, and hooked states are clear as well as the bleed out/hook timers. The new UI relays this information in a wonky, sometimes hard to see manner.
    4. The character portraits are still visible no matter the state of the survivor. This complaint is mostly cosmetic, but it just looks ugly to have the downed/hooked/dead icons replace the whole portrait. If the portraits are there to make it easier to know who's who, wouldn't it make sense to always have them there?

As it stands, the new UI prevents me from playing. Yes, it is that bad. It is unpleasant to look at and just makes me uncomfortable. I'm sure other players feel the same way. Until something about this is done, I actually can't play the game. This isn't some protest or me being melodramatic; the new UI actually disorients me and makes playing uncomfortable.

  • Yeah, I saw this on Otz's stream. It was such BS. Like, one survivor ran through a pallet and I was like "why didn't they drop it?", but then there was another safe pallet three steps ahead, lol.

i really wish they add this one

    similar to the old one

but with the new things implemented (character icons, and hook counters)

Seeing this actually makes me extremely sad. Not only does this look perfect, but it's such an obvious change to make. You add the new features, but retain the look of the old one.

But we all know they will never implement this. They won't even try to.

  • A while ago, I tried my hand at playing Nurse. Not surprisingly, I was really bad at her.

Anyway, I downed one survivor and on my way to the hook, I saw someone's medkit poking out of a tree behind the hook. So, after hooking the downed survivor, I immediately went after the guy behind the tree. Took me a few blinks, but I ended up catching him too. Those were my only two hooks for a while.

Fast forward to the end of the match, I manage to down someone and hook them in the basement. Gates were opened and the whole team swarmed the basement. One of them was injured. Someone unhooked the guy in the basement while I went after the other injured person, hooked them, and then went straight to the exit gate. Saw the other three were t-bagging, so I turned around and "left" them to it.

A few seconds later I blinked into the exit gates and got myself a 2k. :D

In the end game chat, the person I downed first called me trash and accused me of camping. Tried to explain that their mate was literally right there but then they started throwing out slurs, so I left.

It still felt nice to get a 2k, regardless.

  • I have bad anxiety and used to avoid killer because I thought it would just make me straight up have a panic attacks. But then I tried it, and it turned out that playing killer is less stressful to me than playing survivor, lol.

  • I've dodged lobbies where the survivors had an offensive name (i.e., something racist, homophobic, etc). Didn't want to be associated with that, and people with those sorts of names are guaranteed to be a POS.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

I'm questioning if it even exists at this point. From my understanding, it was 'tracking' us long before it got activated live, so killers were at some kind of skill already for matching. So, my thinking was, I've never touched Nurse once in my playtime, so why not use this to practice her at last and finally learn her since I've always wanted to, but being placed against Red ranks over and over wasn't a option. So taking that into account, my Nurse should be 0 skill matching newbies. Now, before that's taken from context, I've not used her, so I'm essentially a newb myself with her. But no. 4 matches, all mega coordinated gen slammers, healing within 10 seconds of being hit. So yeah, seems 'Skill based MM' works great so far!

Q: For Killer specific MMR: How will ratings work for newly released Killers? (e.g. Do you start from 0, or is it based on your other ratings?)

Every time you start playing a Killer that you haven’t played before (either because they have just been released, or because you have decided to try something new to you), your rating with that killer is weighted based off your ratings with other killers. If your Rating is relatively high with your other killers, then your default rating with a new killer will be weighted upwards somewhat. Regardless of where this weighted rating ends up, the system zeros in on a 90%+ accuracy within ~10 matches. The intention is to give you a head start towards playing balanced (and fun!) matches as quickly as possible.

You don't start at 0 if your other killers are a higher MMR, so that's a thing. I don't think it should be to a point where you, a brand new Nurse, are paired with higher ranks, though. That kind of defeats the purpose of the varying killer rankings in the first place.

  • Unless I understood wrong, it's locked so that you get matched with players appropriate to your skill level on a specific killer, right? It's locked to stop a level 1 Oni from switching to a P3 level 50 Freddy in the lobby while the survivors remain at a lower skill level. While there may be some unfortunate consequences, I don't see how else they could address the issue of being a high rank, but wanting to try a new killer. I'm okay with this change (if it actually works), because I want to try new killers without getting completely destroyed.

  • As a newish Huntress who still struggles, getting survivors who complement me on my shots feels really nice. One time, when I was first trying her out and lost really badly, one of the survivors said that my aim was great and that I'd be a "beast" to play against once I got better at predicting survivors. Then the other three chimed in with something nice to say and even gave tips. And, while I'm pretty sure they probably pitied me, I still appreciated it. Made me feel a lot better about losing.
