I agree. I'm rank 3 and I still don't know how to loop, and I run Windows of Opportunity because I also don't know where pallets/windows spawn. I go down in 10 seconds and I sometimes make very dumb decisions. I learn from my mistakes, sure, but my mistakes are numerous and it sucks feeling like I'm constantly letting the team down. At this point, I kind of just don't want to play anymore. It feels so awful being in a match with people who have four times the amount of hours you do.

umm is this some way of calling killers racist because someone called you that? Ive been called the same from survivors, when Legion came out I was tyold to suicide IRL do I blame survivors as a whole? no, just the ones who said it.
You sound like some highschool kid tbh
??????? I have no idea how you made such a huge leap from their comment. They're just saying that killers can be scummy as well. That's it.
Constantly seeing posts about how "survivors are entitled" or that "killers are toxic" gets annoying. Both sides have their idiots.

For me, killer is less stressful so it's easier. I have very bad anxiety and playing survivor makes it so much worse, especially since I have to rely on three other people and three other people have to rely on me. Being chased makes me make poor decisions, also. In theory, it should be easier for me to play survivor. The gameplay is simpler. But, in the moment, I'm not calm. I make panic driven decisions that get me killed.
When I'm playing killer, it's different. I'm chill. I don't care if I win or lose. No one relies on me. The gameplay is harder, sure, but I'm not stressed out or panicking. That makes it easier for me to make strategic decisions, and therefore makes it easier for me to play properly.

I made it to red ranks and I'm probably the worst survivor you'll ever come across. I don't even play this game often. It's just ridiculously easy to rank up. Add that to the fact that matchmaking is terrible right now. I mean, of course even I can escape against a rank 20 or whatever killer. That's unfortunately part of the reason why I'm in red ranks. Put me against someone who's apparently the same rank as me, though, and I fail.
This is why people say rank doesn't equal skill. Rank just translates to time played, and you don't even have to play the game a lot to reach a high rank.

As a rank 8 killer you really can’t complain about this.
I played killer for the first time since rank reset yesterday and only got matched with red ranks and I’m a rank 17 killer...
Nah, there is often a huge difference between a purple and red ranked killer. It's pretty easy to get into purple ranks, especially with certain killers. But quickly ranking up doesn't mean you're ready to face survivors who've put 1000s of hours into the game.
Fortunately, it's also stupid easy to rank up as a survivor, so not every game is awful. I just hope the new MM system makes these less awful games more frequent.
-
I don't play survivor often, but the last time I did I had to wait about 10 minutes for a game. I'm rank 8 on PC and usually play at night if that matters.

Ralph and Umbra are great, but there's a lesser known streamer called Queen_Kuro who's also an amazing Huntress.
Here's her YouTube if you want to check out some Huntress games: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChE3i5fDAibreK0JSXeC8lA/videos

Raging_Ryuga is who comes to mind when I think of a good Legion main. And ScottJund might be able to fill the Oni spot. I know he made a really helpful guide on that killer, and I choose his Oni videos to watch when I want to see how an Oni game should play out.

I often have matches where one or two survivors are just nowhere in sight. Like this one game I had yesterday. Since I couldn't find half the team anywhere, I chased their teammates instead. And though I sincerely tried to look for someone else to chase, at some point wasting time searching for survivors just means throwing the game. So, I killed the two survivors I kept running into. Then, I eventually found one survivor just as they were getting into a locker and found the other urban evading around the map. These types of survivors are why I now run Whispers. I don't want to play hide and seek. And I don't want to be forced to tunnel. I want to actually interact with my opponents, and that means the entire team.
As a survivor, I also dislike when survivors are overly stealthy. It usually means they don't get found, and therefore don't get hooked. This puts their other teammates in danger because, if they can't find the stealthy one, the killer will just target who they can find. It's better to have all survivors take a turn on the hook, rather than have a game where two are on death hook a few minutes into the match.
-
No. Absolutely not. A lot of players can barely afford to get all the DLC and therefore don't even have all the necessary perks; this would just further the divide. $10 (or however much cosmetics cost) might not seem like a lot to some of you, but for others it can make quite the difference when trying to manage expenses. It would be very unfair to go up against a survivor/killer who got a boost simply because they were willing to pay money for it.
-
Only if there was a replacement name. Like, "Survivor 1", "Survivor 2", etc. Sometimes, it helps knowing the survivor's names, especially if you play a killer like Ghostface.
-
Tony Todd, the actor who plays Candyman, has been liking multiple tweets about Dead by Daylight lately, including one that just said "Dead by Daylight, you in?" lol. He could just be messing with everyone, but I'd be surprised if Candyman wasn't the next killer at this point. His power would probably have something to do with bees and/or mirrors.
-
Kindred. It gives so much information.
-
Playing this entire game is meaningless if you're not having fun. It's just a game. You're supposed to be enjoying yourself, so don't force yourself to play if you're not getting anything out of it. Maybe take a break. Or quit altogether. Do something you find fun instead.

The next level of the Tome is coming out on March 10th, so they could have just assumed the new killer would come out then too.

It's Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider is part of Marvel. They would never let any of their characters be a part of DbD, lol.
If it's a licensed character, I agree that it's most likely Pinhead.

I'm curious too. I keep hearing about two different killers. Apparently, there's something in the game that mentions a woman who feeds men to her pigs or something. But other people are talking about some killer that can smash through walls.
-
I got accused of being in a SWF after saving someone during the EGC. In reality, after opening to gate, me and the other two survivors just stood there until one of them pointed toward the hooked survivor. From there, one person ran to do the unhooking while the rest of us filed behind the injured person and took hits until we all made it to the gate. It was sloppy and far from coordinated, but a simple gesture got the message across fine.
Communication between solo survivors is very, very limited, but it's still possible to work together.
I think it should be shown at the end whether a killer went against a SWF group or not. I really don't believe sweaty 4-man SWF teams are that rampant. It's just a very convenient thing to blame a loss on.
-
Keep trying. I had this same issue, but it gets better as soon as you hit yellow ranks.
-
Huntress, because I find it so satisfying to hit survivors with my hatchets. I'm a baby killer, though, and I usually get paired with survivors who insist on running in a straight line. If they dodge even semi-competently then it's game over for me, lol.
Still, Huntress is the only killer I have passed level 1. I love her and hope I eventually get better at her. I find her to be the most rewarding to play as.
-
Lol, I had a game where two survivors stood by the hatch waiting for me while their teammate was going into struggle mode. They could have easily saved them, especially since I didn't even know where the hatch was. Instead, they waited for me to find them by the hatch before abandoning their teammate.
Keys just encourage that type of behavior. It's dumb, but you can't really nerf players not working together.
I agree it needs some type of re-work, though. I'm just not sure what. Maybe add on an animation so that it's not just an instant escape. I don't know. But, again, that won't solve the problem of survivors abandoning their team.
-
Yeah, no one benefits from this.
I'm really bad at this game... but I keep ranking up. And it's probably because I'm either against a new killer who doesn't really know what they're doing or I'm with a team that can carry me.
I genuinely don't want to rank up, but my countless mistakes aren't convincing the ranking system that I suck, so here we are.
-
I've only bought the Stranger Things, Plague/Jane, and Laurie/Myers packs. And I bought all of them during a sale, lol.
If I'm still around by the time there's another sale, I'll buy more, but right now I'm good with what I have.
-
I've done a lot of dumb things as a new player, but the worst was when I tried to do a 360 once and ended up just turning in a circle in front of the killers face. Like, imagine chasing a survivor and all of a sudden they start twirling around. The killer had stopped running, I had stopped twirling, and we both looked at each other for a second before he just hit me anyway. I was so embarrassed, lol.

This, precisely. Collectively, us as veteran players, need to do this. We need to recognize when we're against newer players, and help them/give them tops, etc.
As for you personally, I would just keep trying. Practice makes perfect. You can watch good Youtubers/Streamers for tips. Ussylis, Ayrun, Puppers, Monto, ScottJund, Zubatlel, Umbra, and many more. Just keep in mind that losing is all part of the process.
Yes, the guys I went up against suggested I watch Umbra too, since I choose Huntress for that game. She really is amazing. Otz was suggested also, and I like how he explains what's going on in the game from time to time. I think that's really one of the best tips to give a new player. Just watch streams and keep trying. You can't really sit us down and teach us, but giving suggestions on who to watch helps. I think I'm maybe improving by watching them, but I still wish I was put against people who were learning with me.

What I hate is when survivors say GG EZ. That EZ part to me is saying "you suck" You got lucky with those survivors. Most won't give you a kill or advice in the end game chat.
Luckily, I've mostly gotten GGs or nothing at all, which I appreciate just the same. I'd rather they say little to nothing than gloat about how easy it was to win.
But, then again, I usually leave post-game chat immediately, lol.
-
I'm just a rank 14 and the game sometimes puts me with purple/red ranks. I've thought about quitting many times, because it feels bad going against people who know what they're doing while I'm still learning. I even made a dramatic vow to never try killer again, lol.
Though, I did eventually try again because I thought killer just seemed so much more interesting than survivor. But, it became obvious pretty quickly that I was going against higher ranks. Again. In the end, I got one person on the hook. I would have gotten two, but someone did a flashlight save (which I didn't even know was a thing). Anyway, when the gates opened two of them stayed behind and kept motioning me to follow them, so I did. Then they kept pointing at the hooks. They wanted me to hook them, so I did. And after the game, they gave me tips.
They probably pitied me and wanted me to at least get some points, but what I appreciate most was the post-game chat where they took the time to give me tips. They even threw in a gg when they knew damn well they demolished me.
Stuff like that, though extremely rare, kept me from quitting. But it's really hard for new killers to learn when we're constantly being thrown in with people who know how to play already. I want to be a "killer main," but I'm not exactly having the best time trying to learn.
-
Reading these makes me believe that literal children wrote it. Like, below the age of 14. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
-
Yeah, my first and only match as a killer placed me with a bunch of purple/green ranks. I managed to hit two people the entire match, lol. I couldn't catch nor find these survivors at all. I was incredibly bad, probably worse than the average new player. It didn't help that I didn't really know how to work the killer I chose, either.
When the last generator popped, I just gave up and started walking aimlessly around the map, waiting for them to leave. And, when they didn't, I went looking for the opened gate to see why. They were all just there waiting for me. I felt genuine embarrassment as I watched them leave.
I also have really bad anxiety, so I felt like I had to perform well for them and, since they were so above my rank, it sucked when I couldn't.
Maybe it's silly to feel bad about losing a game, but that was just such a terrible experience for me. I'm not going to attempt killer again until matchmaking is sorted out.
-
I've run into Ruin several times from several different killers who were around my rank (rank 16). The first few times I encountered the perk, I had no idea what to do about it. Didn't even know you had to look for a totem. And I still can't hit regular skill checks confidently, let alone great ones. So, these Ruin changes will help me out immensely.
However, being horrendous at something at first is just the price of being new to a game like this, I think. There's so much about this game that takes experience and a bit of Googling to understand. Ruin was just another thing I had to learn to deal with like everything else about this game. Like, I still don't know how to loop a killer and I'll usually get caught almost immediately. I'm not going to ask the devs to slow the killer down though, lmao. But that's just my take on it.
-
I'm new to the game and played killer exactly once. My biggest flaw playing that role was that I was constantly worried about giving the survivors a good game. My sole focus was on being a good-enough killer to make sure other people had fun. In the end, I got no kills and had no fun, lol.
As a survivor, my biggest flaw is that I'm terrible at chases/looping. I don't think this will ever change from experience, either. I'm just bad at the whole mind-game thing, so I end up caught within a minute or so of being chased.
-
I agree, but for the opposite reason. I just got this game and only have 20 hours put into it. I'm learning as I play (really badly, might I add), but that doesn't stop the game from putting me on teams with survivors/killers way above my rank. I'll usually mess up severely and die, then feel like I've let the team down. I'd prefer to be on a team where everyone is learning together, and seeing whether or not I'm being placed with higher ranks would allow me to dodge being the useless burden of the group.
But, on the other hand, I understand that there might not be enough players on each rank to make this work, and waiting in the lobby can already take so long. I just have to learn to be better and hope that they do something about matchmaking in the future. Sucks for higher ranked people, though, since you're stuck with me until then.
-
Mixed. Sometimes I have fun, sometimes I don't. I only have 20 hours put into the game since buying it in November, so I'm absolutely still completely trash. Like I'm truly terrible. And it's not so fun when I get randomly paired with higher ranked killers/survivors. I feel like I'm burdening the team half the time, which kinda sucks. But with games where everyone is terrible, I feel more comfortable making (and learning) from my mistakes. So, my enjoyment is completely dependent on the matchmaking system, which has been really random for me.
