Keep your head up. IMO ofc Slinger is one of the top killers in this game. He can erase the majority of survivors defenses with quick scoping or zoning. Once you get a decent load out you will enjoy what he is capable of despite MM.
Not true at all. DS is a walking killer, so now matter how good his chases are, he is going to lose gens.

It makes sense though. If you're high MMR on a Killer, you've probably got the fundamentals down and can play any Killer at a basic level. They probably want to prevent noob-stomping by switching to a Killer you never play, but still lowering the rating a bit to help out. Idk seems fair to me.
It isn’t though. As Nurse I can usually do well. That MMR then transfers to a killer like Nemesis or Pig and I get stomped because those killers have literally no chance at a high level. It is completely unfair.

This is actually true, but you make it sound like its a negativ thing.
It is a negative thing because the devs clearly don’t care whether or not the killer has fun.

@MeatBycicle said:
SBMM has absolutely no benefit to killer, its only a benefit to survivors. The higher your MMR goes as a killer, the sweater teams you will be facing, at after reaching a certain threshold of rating you will be playing against survivors who all know how to run and loop well, know all the strats and outplays to every killer and every map.
As your MMR climbs higher on survivor, you get to sit comfortable knowing that every teammate you get will know how to run and loop the killer, and will be doing generators.
How does MMR positively effect killers? It doesn't.
Don’t you know? Killers only exist to make sure survivors have fun

That's nothing to do with "Hold W" though. If you have a skilled killer, they would know how to defeat people who just .. run. Skilled survivors would know this, and thus will use looping and skill to avoid. So there's no meta "Hold W" in that situation.
No, they wouldn’t because there is no counter. Good survivors will get a head start anytime they know the killer is coming. The killer will have to waste 20 seconds just catching up and then deal with any pallet or structure.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
It's not meta. Sorry, but there's nothing meta about running away from a killer. I've never complained about a survivor running from me in a straight line.
There are multiple things you can do: Herd them, corner them, force a mistake, realise this chase would be unproductive and move on to another, use ranged killers, use speed add-ons (if available), use them to lead to others, use them to know which gen they want you to run from, focus on gens closer together and force them into the territory, use trap killers, learn their habits so you know how to cut them off next time.
All the above work. There will be times when they don't, but that's the whole point of the game: you won't win every chase! If you're running after survivors for long periods of time, then the fault isn't "hold W" - the fault is the tactic you choose. If "hold W" was as meta as some claim, there should be easy escapes every time. There isn't.
There definitely is among people who know how to play. A skilled killer can’t beat a skilled survivor group.
-
Billy is an example of classic bad DBD design: too much effort for too little reward. If you’re going to invest that much time, you’re better off playing Nurse. Don’t get me wrong, you could make that argument for any killer, but even though a killer like Pig is weak, she is at least easy to play. Billy is the worst of both worlds because he is hard and has limited reward.

Lol, all killers have more than 50% kill rate, if they gonna balance gens as per your suggestion bhvr would have to decrease time needed to do gens.
Same bloody thread again and again. "Oh no, I'm not winning 90% of my games anymore, bhvr ruined the game!"
No reasonable person is saying that. Before, I could play a lower tier killer like Nemesis or Pig and usually have a fighting chance. Now I pretty much just play Nurse ever match. The game is incredibly stale and broken.

You know, given the meta shift towards holding W and predropping pallets, you're probably right.
But it's better to be a terrible killer than to only be good in the worst, most painful, most skilless way possible. Hopefully they buff his add-ons without bringing back slowdown ones. Buffing pallet and snare counts would be a nice start.
I don't think the snares/pallets would help much because, as you said, survivors just hold forward. In chase, Freddy is essentially a worse Clown. Freddy can't do anything if the survivor is awake (which was needlessly nerfed) and essentially does not have a power. Against competent survivors, Freddy's only power is the teleport.
-
Hot take: Freddy is now one of the worst killers in the game.

I tried Undying Ruin and it just seems to gave me wins I really didn't think I deserved. How can I moan about survivor meta-perks when we have that?
Ruin undying is nowhere near as powerful as survivor perks. Dead hard and unbreakable have no counters whatsoever; ruin undying can be removed.

Dude read my previous posts. I meant against people who loop bad but they are efficient on gens.
You can be poor at looping and still win. If your team does gens, you are literally able to slam pallets instantly and the gens are going to get done.

Gens wont go fast enough if killer downs and pressure effectively. That was my point.

I mean, it's easy to call Survivors bad because they get clapped by good Nurse gameplay when that isn't the case. A well-played Nurse has little to no counters except stealth and distance. Nurse does bypass normal looping, windows, walls and pallets so it's not really a surprise why Survivors aren't able to play against her effectively when she's played well.
Again, try her at high MMR now. I guarantee you will feel differently. Survivors get clapped when they refuse to learn. And yes, it is very easy to call survivors bad because most them struggle against mediocre killers like Demogorgon and Nemesis.

I played rank 1 Nurse... against rank 1 Survivors... many actual SWF death squads as well. Obviously I know the difference between baby players and actual high-tier gameplay 😛 I even have several videos from back then as well!
I also won 99% of my games against red ranks….most of them are still bad.

I dunno man, those things never worked on me when I played Nurse (former Nurse main). And I never even used range addons... just smaller blinks to reliably catch my target. Worked every time, even on indoor maps like Lery's. I can only say that the maps that I had trouble on were giga-sized maps like Groaning Storehouse and Ironworks.
Things like running back and faking only work on bad Nurse players who have either just started playing her or can't improve.
That’s because you are used to playing her against bad survivors. Try that at high mmr and tell me it’s easy.

List of things survivors have to defend themselves against killers

5.Distance
6.Inconsistent spins
do you notice the issues here?
I notice nothing wrong because survivors can still play mind games by running back, faking a run back, and breaking her line of sight. Counterplay exists, survivor mains just don’t want to adjust their play.

Franklin's, especially with the recent changes to it and keys make it so they play directly off of each other; and tunneling and camping, which are still considered valid strats. Killer being able to see survivor lobby before the trial starts helps prepare for that as well.
Franklin’s does nothing…. A smart survivor will drop the key once they know you have franklin’s and then you basically have a wasted perk slot. There is nothing you can do.
-
@Apollos said:
I don't think keys need any rework. What else can you do? They already have a poor spawn rate, have counterplay and get filtered out of the match fairly quickly if they're seen, and require a charge to even use. They don't even come into play until at least 4 gens are completed and one survivor is dead.
Keys have 0 counterplay.

He's not as hard as Nurse, that's a huge stretch. I find him more fun than Nurse and half of the roster, because his gameplay is actually interesting.
Which is why I said “almost as hard” as her. The chain takes skill to hit and isn’t very rewarding.
-
@glitchboi said:
Agreed, he genuinely seems like a decent killer so far (maybe better than decent), and it feels like he'll be scary to go against with the right build. People are quick to assume things, have we not learned from Blight and Twins yet?
I swear, people just want killers as easy as Freddy, and as strong as Nurse.
The problem is, why should anyone bother with a killer that is almost as hard as Nurse with not even half of the reward? I get a killer having a tradeoff of being less effective but easier to play, but PH is the worst of both. It’s also frustrating that the burden of skill is always on the killer while survivor gameplay remains insanely easy.

It’s not fair for a match to be unwinnable because i slaughter people who can’t play. The game needs to be properly balanced.

-Not trying too hard to get the 4k (like slugging the third survivor to find the 4th one)
-Not playing with super meta loadouts (something like Nurse with recharge+range addons,Tinkerer,Ruin,Pop,Corrupt and an Ebony Mori)
-Try some meme builds or off meta perks
Basically treat the game casually and not like you're trying the win the DbD championship
Also,i seriously doubt that getting to top % MMR is gonna be super easy.It's 100% gonna be harder than just reaching rank 1
You still haven’t addressed the problem…. Mmr can’t work because top level play is too imbalanced.

The thing is, nobody is forcing you to reach and stay the top % level of play.
If you want to play more chill then SBMM should match you with rather chill survivors (which was my experience).
What does playing more chill mean? You will reach top % if you put in any effort at all since most survivors are bad. I’m not going to actively let people go to keep my mmr down. That’s absurd.
-
@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2470982#Comment_2470982
Yes,top levels of play in DbD is definetely unbalanced and problematic.But the thing is,that doesn't affect like 99,9% of the community.Only a handful of people are able to reach those levels.
So,comparing tournament levels of play to the more casual part of the community doesn't matter and is irrelevant to balancing.
I don't really see why content creators would get burned out because of SBMM.Truth is,most content creators are not super highly skilled at the game either.Even if it may look like that.
In my experience,SBMM will pair you with the type of players that match your playstyle.Full Meta loadout every single game?That's what you're gonna verse.
You like to play chill and experiement with off meta perks?Then you're gonna play against players with a similiar approach to the game.
So basically….. F anyone who is good at the game? Why then should we continue playing/supporting?

Top killer mains: It's not fair. I put a lot of time and effort into this game to be good and now I'm being punished going against sweaty SWFs after SWFs.
How will I ever do my 50+ win streaks again??
____________________________________________________________________________
You're being matched against someone just as skilled as you. Sorry but no more lopsided matches for you.
My suggestion for both if you don't like it?? play less sweaty and maybe your SBMM will get lower.
This is flawed logic because the game is imbalanced. If you take the best possible survivor and match him/her against the best possible killers, the survivor will win almost every time because the game is massively survivor sided. By that logic, no one would be a good killer. The game needs to be balanced before it gets mmr.

Be honest here, how often do you truly sweat at games and these perks become horribly oppressive? The correct answer, if you're in the ranks you should be, is not very often. I do agree that having plenty of DH's, which is common yeah, is annoying but that's why you're playing Blight or any stronger killer.
The reality of it is that you're facing these intense games (under the assumption you're in the right ranks and/or skill level) about one game in ten or even twenty (depends on what time you play). The other games you feel the need to sweat are likely due to your own shortcomings and maybe some RNG, but Blight is still powerful enough to face adversity you can't control.
While survivors in solo queue will face sweaty, multi-slowdown stacking killers with super addons about one in two games. The addon part is debatable but yeah, more than half my games are the usual ruin, pop, what have you with often some tunnelling or camping (a bit less frequent but it because sad when they resort to that when already stacking so much to their advantage).
I don't think you consider how survivors feel, especially since it's far, far more agonizing for solos than it is for killers when we talk about builds and sweat.
Survivors don’t take priority over killer, even if they have more bad games.

If you get three Knives and insta-break, you’ll be able to continue the chase without decay no problem they’re now halfway to losing a health state and they dropped a really strong pallet.
Or play deathslinger or Huntress and get a guaranteed health state, faster.
-
@gatsby said:
Ironically, Trickster is one of the Killers that doesn’t care as much about pallet pre-drops. When a Survivor drops a pallet they’re locked into an animation that gives you three free knives if you predict it correctly. A decent amount of Killers can get free hits if they predict a pallet drop correctly like Pyramid Head, Huntress, Legion, Deathslinger, Nemesis or Doctor.
Except that unlike the killers you listed, Trickster gets basically nothing. He will land a couple of knives, but if it is a strong loop, the survivor will be able to force decay/trickster to break the pallet. His power is worthless.

That’s not what we’re talking about. I’m talking about solo survivors, not inexperienced ones. There is a clear gap between SWF and solo survivors, that behaviour refuse to address.
If the survivors are competent, the gap isn’t that big. A group of good solo survivors will still beat killer. The problem is that it’s rare to get a team of people who know how to play
-
@WexlerWendigo said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2443356#Comment_2443356
Then what’s the issue? The main problem regarding the balance is SWF, not solo queue. It’s not fair at all to generalise survivors into one category. It’s important to be specific I feel.
The issue is that the game is imbalanced when survivors know what they are doing. I really don’t care to discuss balance around someone who plays an hour a week and thinks they know how to play the game. If knowledge and skill aren’t relevant to discussing balance, then there is no point in any discussion because nothing matters.

Quick math thing about movement speeds
Survivors run at 4 m/s (meters/second)
m1 killers at 4,6 m/s
That means killers catch up at 0.6 m/s
Your change would bumb that to 0.8 m/s which is 25% faster
A survivor 10 m away takes 16.66 seconds to catch up
With your change 12.5 seconds
I'm not going to comment on how it your change would be balance wise but i do want to point out that 5% more movement speed is a big deal in this game
Yes and it is needed. Survivors being able to hold forward for 30 seconds without the killer catching up is dumb.

Seriously, why is it so controversial to say anything is too strong on the killer side? But it’s complete consensus to say SWF is OP, half the killers need a buff, etc. This sub is so blatantly killer sided, which is very strange as much more people play survivor.

Ah yes. How would you personally start the chase when it is impossible due to the mechanics of the game.
You’re making the wrong argument. Killer can almost always start the chase, the problem is that on maps with numerous LOS blockers or if the survivor holds forward, it takes an absurd amount of time to start the chase.
OP: the map will never change because the devs are incompetent and think the balance is fine.

This has to happen for the game to be balanced. They can't get good data when matchmaking under normal circumstances sucks.
They may not be completely aware of how bad most killers are in high MMR play. Or how bad map balance is. There are so many maps where some killers have a best case scenario 2k as soon as they load in, but the devs maintain "actually, the kill rate says otherwise". They need to actually see it.
They already know about it- they just don’t care. They happily say FU to the people who have supported and put the most time into their game. Nothing will change.
