    How?

I do actually want to know, so I'll hold off on saying anything else just yet.

You bait the shot by swerving in one direction, then back the other way, and then back again. If he is aiming his gun, he isn’t making up much ground since he moves slower than normal while aiming. Obviously if he is close, you are getting hit, but that’s the case for every killer. A quick swerve would have made the insta shot miss pre nerf.

So the survivor counterplay to Deathslinger is to hope that he makes the wrong choice? That doesn't sound like a particularly interactive and healthy game mechanic to me, friend.

You’re implying that only he makes a choice. Survivors can trick him into shooting.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647900#Comment_2647900

You dodge in anticipation of the shot, thus losing distance if he chooses not to shoot, thus opening yourself up to an ADS fake hit. That was the entire problem being discussed long before the nerf actually hit.

key word "chooses." If he chooses wrong. the survivor gets away. Sounds fine to me.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647871#Comment_2647871

Because the gun is a killer ability in the game Dead By Daylight, and thus shouldn't be a guaranteed loss. You're right that it doesn't even make him overpowered, but it's not exactly a healthy power if you're just guaranteed to be screwed unless you're lucky enough to have something tall enough to duck behind so you can break LoS.

You say they should have to guess, but how? If he quickscopes you don't have time to dodge, and if he doesn't he'll keep faking to make you juke to lose distance. There's no correct guess to make, that's the entire argument against old Slinger.

You dodge in anticipation of the shot. If you are about to round a corner, he is obviously going to raise the rifle. That mindgame is completely dead now

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647836#Comment_2647836

ADS fake and quickscope were considered problems, and I think that's fair. You couldn't react to a Deathslinger quickscoping, so the realistic counterplay was to just juke and hope that he missed- and if he chose not to shoot, your juking lost you distance, so now he could ADS fake and hit you. Was it OP? Eh. Was it cheap and unpleasant? Absolutely, it was worth fixing. The fact that it was done poorly shouldn't distract from that.

If the weakest killer in the game had a problematic aspect to them, that would warrant fixing just as much as an OP killer. This isn't even a hypothetical- Clown's instadown iri addon is cheap and unpleasant, I'd support that being changed so long as it's done well and, ideally, comes with a suite of buffs or a full rework.

And why should you be able to react to the gun? Counterplay is not having a safe option every time, which seems be what survivors think it means. Survivors should have to guess, not be able to shut down the killer.

  • @jesterkind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2647820#Comment_2647820

Problems are problems whether the killer/perk/item/whatever is OP or not. It's worth fixing- and in the process of fixing it, BHVR messed up and caused new problems.

At no point has anything on DS been a “problem.” Holding W was and is incredibly effective against him, as is breaking line of sight and wiggling. The real issue is that survivors were mad that they didn’t get to control the chase like they do against most killers.

  • @jesterkind said:

    Yes.

It was needed, but it was mishandled. Quickscope and ADS fake were undeniably problems, and now there is a new problem, which is that he feels very clunky.

“Problems” when the killer had a pretty low kill rate and no map control. Sounds like survivor entitlement to me

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The map will be updated eventually, but as for improvements from a killer point of view I wouldn't get hopes too high.

They'll block some house exits with breakable walls that might help killers a bit though most survivors will still run upstairs regardless anyway.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they took the fix the fence issue feedback as a reason to put breakable walls in the fences or have gaps in the fences complete with pallets of course.

& while i'll agree its probably the most survivor sided map in the game I've participated in many 4k games on that map from both sides.

They're other maps that favor killers too.

It's almost impossible to create a fair & equal map given how much range is in the game.

Best thing to do would be remove all map offerings make it completely random & then you'll get it when you get it rather than swf or killers on ocassion all burning a map offering to go to a map they've set their entire build up for.

It would also remove thousands of wasted bloodpoints from the web of the vast majority of players who virtually never burn map offerings (of course some other useless green offering could be put in their place!

Which map favors killer? I have trouble thinking of a single map that favors killer. The one people bring up most often is coal tower, but I still don’t think a killer can win against a good team on that map.

Hmm, you 4K most of the time but you also believe tiles are overpowered?

Yup. Survivor incompetence helps. If everyone who played would bother to learn, killers would average 0-1k per match. I also have to play lame by slugging and forcing early kills.

  • Definitely not a skill issue. I 4k most of the time. And yes, tiles, especially when they are connected, are incredibly overpowered. The survivor can easily lead a game ending chase if they choose to play safe. The killer can’t do anything about it.

  • The fact that people in here think Dead Hard and NOED are comparable tells you all you need to know. One can be removed and might lead to 1-2 kills. The other can be used multiple times and has literally no counterplay.

I agree the matchmaking feels much worse now. Whether it is, or it is a case of the "Peter Principle", my games are notably tougher every time with any killer.

Yea, it’s not just that it’s tougher. I don’t mind having to try hard in order to win; the problem is that optimal play is incredibly boring. If I want to 4k against a competent group, I essentially have to tunnel/camp hook. Games that I win aren’t fun, and obviously letting 2-3 get out by playing more relaxed also isn’t fun.

If anyone is saying it's unfun for killers compared to before chances are they're cry babies or new to the game.

Nothing I mean nothing can beat the state of this game 1-2 years ago.

As someone who started playing 3 years ago, killer is definitely worse now than it was 2 years ago. MMR has made this game almost unplayable because they don’t balance it for skilled players.

This is getting out of hand resently..

Should Bubba be disabled until the Devs can fix this bad gameplay? Ive played 6 games today, 3 vs facecamping Bubbas. If this is how the game is going to be, then Im uninstalling..

DO SOMETHING or this game is dead soon.

What do you expect the killer to do? They have absolutely no chance of playing “fair” and winning due to broken tiles and ridiculous gen speeds. Ask the devs to balance the game.

You're missing the point completely mate.

Also pretty sure one of the FF14 devs played in the 92% percentile, so you're wrong either way.

That game is extremely old. You gave an example that is an outlier. I know some people who work in the industry, and it is not standard to have top level players as a permanent part of the team.

What I usually do is blink to the last place I saw them, and usually try to immediately start charging another blink (for them 12 metres, quickly using it downwards if they run back.

Is this the correct way to use the power on corners? Especially if I don't have aura reading. Thanks you

That’s pretty much right, and will work on survivors who like to run back. More advanced survivors will test you with mixing up running back and going in another direction. For these people, you will need to blink through the corner and cut them off.

How is it Us Vs Them?

I said I'm happy they've done it but it should have been done years ago when survivors had the same issue.

I'm pointing out that the devs don't have a bias, they just do whatever.

No, in fact your post is blatantly misleading. The vast majority of changes and attention go to the survivor experience. One exception doesn’t change that.

Dev companies absolutely have their staff playing the game. FF14 and Smash both have their leads being extremely competent at their game. Playing the video game is absolutely a thing most companies do.

Balancing the video game is still the job of the company and that doesn't happen overnight with zero actual knowledge of the video game or how it works or it's played. Bhvr has fog whisperes, they have forums, they have the PTB, they have a multi-lingual game. They're absolutely aware of what issues commonly get discussed and in what regions.

Whether they agree or have any idea how to address these issues is something else.

I doubt that any of those devs could challenge a professional player. They don’t have enough time to become experts, which is why they should watch people who are top.

  • @DragonJester said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2602534#Comment_2602534

Good Devs absolutely do. Most MMOs, most fighting games, and most Mobas have dev teams that play their games at all levels. If the company can't understand how the game works at every level, how can you possibly expect them to balance for it or understand player issue.

For the most part, this doesn’t happen. A dev’s job is to make sure the game functions (BHVR also fails this part.) The problem isn’t that BHVR plays at a low level, it’s that they don’t lean on good players they can watch or bring in. Most devs look at skilled players to balance the game. BHVR either doesn’t care or is too arrogant to admit that they don’t know the game.

Imagine complaining about a killer that almost no one play anymore, this is so hilarious. The nurse isn't anymore what she used to be, and survivors still hate her.. i guess some people will never learn to properly play againts her.

You’re right. People don’t like learning, so they won’t ever understand how to face her. I also think infectious is massively overrated on her, since it just gives off a glow and she has to recharge her blinks before she can pursue.

  • @Shroompy said:

Yeah it is, but its not an instant change, its gradual, and its only noticeable if you actually hold it down.

If you aim and shoot as soon as you can your movement speed is practically unchanged, so aiming around corners is still viable

Except that I have played several matches with him lately and, no, it's not still viable. By the time you can fire, they are past the corner. You are also totally wrong about the fighting game comparison. You do get the opportunity to make a read on the 50/50.(Old) Spirit allowed you to play mindgames. A survivor has to be hit multiple times to be hooked and taken out of the game, which gave you an opportunity to see the tendencies. Against a good team, 2-3 wrong reads by spirit meant that she was probably going to lose the game. Now there is no mindgame with Spirit if you have headphones; the survivor controls it.

  • @Shroompy said:

"So long to raise his gun"

.2 seconds longer, which makes him lose like what, .1m of distance compared to before if even that?

Just enough time for the survivor to be able to get around the corner. His movement while holding the gun, even though it was buffed from before, is still slower than his normal walk speed.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2598790#Comment_2598790

And by removing his quick scoping they removed his free zoning, survivors can now attempt to juke him when out in the open, and if youre good at aiming his Lethality doesnt change.

At high wall loops he can start aiming as he's turning a corner, this interaction has literally remained unchanged from the survivor perspective since he doesnt have an obvious audio cue like Huntress or Trickster.

The only change that Im iffy on is his TR one, that really wasnt needed.

100% wrong- his core gameplay has changed. Because it takes so long to raise the gun, he now can't take a shot at survivors while they go around a corner at a loop. That's not "raising the skill ceiling". In fact, that's lowering the skill ceiling and limiting what he can do. You can do all the mental gymnastics you want, but the results will show that people stop playing the character because he isn't worth using.

    No you don't.

You have a mountain, one side which is survivor-sided, the other side is killer-sided.

And what exactly show it’s killer sided? Is it the Wraith and Deathslinger nerfs? Are we basing it off of clueless survivors not knowing loops and tiles? There is no credible evidence that would show the game is killer sided

It does. But you seem like someone who isn't gonna bother attempting to see it another way, so I won't waste my time trying to show you either.

There aren’t always two sides of the coin. Sometimes reality is just on one side. We have mountains of evidence that shows this game has always been survivor sided

  • @Crazewtboy said:

Unpopular opinion: The devs need to stop siding with one side, and people need to stop encouraging them too. Just because one side has had the upper hand for a bit does not mean it becomes the other side's turn. We need to focus on balancing both. Not alternating power

Power never alternates- the game has always been survivor sided.

    Nice Whataboutism.

I dont think that Nurse will ever be fixed. Her Bug started when Dedicated Servers went live, so it is safe to assume that her Bugs are also related to Dedicated Servers. They needed a few years to fix 1 Perk, you can imagine how long it would take to fix the Nurse-Bugs, if they are related to Dedicated Servers.

(But she is not that bugged. I got more Exhausted on the ground-situations when playing DH than I get Nurse-Bugs. The only Bug I get sometimes is the one where I cannot swing after a Blink, but it happens rarely).

It really isn’t that rare. I get it in probably 4/10 Nurse games, and it often ends up costing me. It’s also not a “whataboutism”: you were snarkily implying that the devs are neutral about things that they fix when, more often than not, survivors bugs are quickly resolved. Meanwhile Nurse bugs go unsolved for years.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

I thought BHVR should fix Bugs? DH not working properly was a Bug, which got fixed.

And yet Nurse bugs have been in the game for over two years.

  • @ManOMaker said:

You guys need to realize that the dev team only consists of around 800 people. You may think that’s a lot but if you look at other companies its very small. Activison has 10,000 developers and Blizzard has just under 5,000 working on the hearthstone properties alone.

I think we need to think about this, if there are let’s say, 50 main problems and 80 bugs for each platform and there are only 800 devs they can hardly split up people to work on each issue. So let’s just be patient and let them fix the issues.

btw im not talking about bhvr as a whole Im talking about just the dev team that actually cares about their game.

That’s the problem…..they don’t show that they care. They make tone deaf balance changes and, more importantly, push out updates that are gamebreaking. There is no excuse for releasing a patch that literally stops the game from working. To make matters worse, they release patches like this on a regular basis! What do they spend their time doing? The devs put in boon totems, something that no one asked for, and release overpriced cosmetics. They also continually change the graphics engine instead of optimizing what they already have, which has led to the total lie of 60 FPS they announced over two years ago.

Why should we sympathize with them again?

  • @Pulsar said:

It's a change to make the perk stronger.

How is that not a buff.

Survivors used to say the perk is bad because it “doesn’t work most of the time” (even though the distance part has always been better.) I wonder what BS talking point they’ll use now to try and justify this broken perk.

  • @Shroompy said:

Tbf in almost any game only a small portion of it is truly viable at higher level play, and if something is too strong then its banned in tourney play

DbD is nothing special when it comes to this

Even in broken fighting games, there are at least a few characters that can compete. There is literally one character in this game, and even that is questionable. The game is horrifically balanced.

  • @dallasmedicbag said:

it's not that bad really, just get used to the time it takes to shoot and predict, as well as preaim. in other words, git gud lul

Actually, it’s not that simple. The nerf didn’t just hurt him in that he can’t quick scope. The additional time makes it now impossible to hit a survivor when they are rounding a corner or at a loop with a high wall (which is the majority of loops in this game). He feels absolutely useless now.

  • @jesterkind said:

I won't argue against Slinger feeling worse now, because he definitely does, but he definitely should not feel like an FPS to play. That's part of the problem that prompted the change- if he plays like a shooter, survivors don't have anything they can do about it beyond hoping that he misses.

He should probably bring up his gun slightly faster, but he definitely shouldn't be able to quickscope or hip-fire.

What you said makes no sense. In an FPS, the target has the option of dodging. It is no different in this game. Let’s also not forget that DS’s is not hit scan- it is a projectile with travel time.

  • @Dumpstick said:

If you can say that survivors could mindgame old spirit, the same is true now except on the other side. Spirit can still mindgame survivors. The difference is she no longer has the obscenely unfair advantage she used to have before. Spirit still has the upper hand in chase, it's hilarious how you are trying to push this off as Survivors being in control of the chase.

If they know where she is because of the sound, there is no mindgame. I don’t know why this is so hard to understand. Before, neither person knew where the other one was. Good survivors used the scratchmarks to mess with her and misdirect.

  • @GannTM said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2577828#Comment_2577828

There wasn’t any mind games at all with old Spirit. She gave no information in the terror radius.

Actually there was. You could trick spirit into swinging on the wrong side of the pallet or window. You could also pretend to stay near a pallet while she was phasing and then run in a different direction. There were multiple things you could do that were based on reading the other player. Now the survivor is in total control. Killers that have to constantly eat pallets have 0 chance of being successful in a match, unless the survivors are bad.

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2577384#Comment_2577384

There are other add-ons and she is still super fast at base level. Even at longer loops she can beat you to the pallet/window every time.

Or you can hear which side she is on and stay safe. There is no mindgame.

  • @gendoss said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2577294#Comment_2577294

No the survivor is not in control of the chase. With Mother-Daughter Ring she moves at 220% speed. Even if you know exactly where she is you literally can't do anything about it. You will go down no matter what if they are decent at Spirit.

That’s one add on that she won’t always have, and it still won’t matter at longer loops.

  • @Junylar said:

the phase coin flip doesn't exist anymore, the phase mindgame is still there.

No it’s not. The survivor knows where she is at all times and is now in control of the chase.

  • Funny, kind of like how baby survivors couldn’t bother to learn counterplay to killers and instead demanded nerfs? This game isn’t worth supporting anymore. The devs don’t care about people who put in time to learn, but only about the easy instant gratification that new players want.

He was A tier at least before. Now that he can walk faster when aiming he can zone really well, and good killers will adjust to the quick scope change. I think this is a buff to really good deathslingers. It added like 0.1 second to how long you need to aim, that's nothing.

He will still be really strong, you just need to actually be good at aiming now instead of just waiting for a vault and quickscoping

Again, he wasn’t able to win against good teams previously. He will now join billy in the graveyard of irrelevant killers.

  • @Regulus47 said:

He can still shoot in less than a second so the changes don't do anything. It might actually be a buff, let's wait and see.

Killer is and always should be the more difficult role. There are easy to play Killers and hard to play Killers.

In general, playing Killer is easy. The whole game is easy. But some people want to pretend that being good at Killer means that you are a 170 IQ-Gigabrain.

Compared to what survivor takes, killer is genius level IQ.

  • @Impose said:

Basing balance around ANYTHING but what people SHOULD be doing is terrible balancing. If you base your arguments on "survivors crouching in the corner," then your entire outlook on balance makes no sense. You don't base discussions of balance on people being dumb. You base discussions of balance of people playing, if not optimally, at least at a decent level of play.

If we balanced this game around survivors urban evading around the corner of the map then killers would literally never get a single down against any survivor with half a brain and an exhaustion perk.

You, at least as a killer, ALWAYS assume that the people you're against are good unless they prove otherwise. Doing anything else is how you lose. ESPECIALLY as Nurse, who is the very definition of a snowball killer. One missed blink can literally erase your entire pressure, and Nurse who loses pressure in the middle of a game, literally just loses the game.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who gets it. Why is it too much to ask that people learn the game? Instead they flock to Twitter, Reddit, and the forums to complain and get easy solutions, and BHVR gives in to them. Gaming is a hobby, and hobbies require an investment. If you don’t want to improve, don’t play.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2553517#Comment_2553517

No, its not because they mindgames its literally becaude gens can go by in minutes because of their communication. Watch the footage, a VERY large majority of the time the survivor doesnt last more than a few seconds in chase.

In Solo Q, you can run a Nurse for 10 minutes but it wont matter if your team is crouching in a corner with the slightest hint of Spine Chill.

Also a skill you develop as Nurse is make yourself guess less. Cover the majority of options a survivor has with 1 blink, and go in for the hit with the 2nd blink. Play like this and unless the survivor has multiple LoS blockers in a row, which aint too common on maps other than indoor maps, theyre basically screwed

There are far more LOS blockers than you are admitting, even on some of the more open maps. It is a guess most of the time since the second blink has very limited range.

Also what you said about solo queue applies to every killer. We shouldn’t base a character’s balance on “can they kill if teammates are doing nothing.” Obviously the killer will win.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2553446#Comment_2553446

The only reason why they can do it is communication

There is no way in hell a team of solo q's can reach the level of a tourney team.

Nope, it’s because they know how to play mindgames against her. You can learn that with or without communication.

You also seem to be implying that I struggle with her, which is not the case. I win the vast majority of my Nurse games, in large part because survivors don’t attempt to play mindgames.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2553371#Comment_2553371

Yeah, but your comparison is like saying a fire extinguisher is useless but only bring up situations where a whole damn building is on fire

Tourney squads are of course gonna be able to beat any killer. But you dont go against these squads every game, hell you probably go against one or 2 a year if even that because the majority of them only play in customs.

So unless youre some top tourney nurse player which I doubt you are, you really have no excuse

You’re missing the point….if they can do it, that means it’s possible. Therefore it is incorrect to say that there is “basically nothing a survivor can do.”

  • Nice misquote. I said the survivors would consistently get destroyed if she had no counters. I can just as easily link footage of Nurse getting 2k. It seems like sometimes she wins, sometimes she loses….how is that not balanced again? Or do you think that pyramid and head getting two hooks the whole match is balanced?

I mean I played 6 matches tonight and the worst game I had was a 2k, 8 hooks.

Wanna know on what map? Hawkins, her worst map.

Had a game against a 4 man where the person with the lowest amount of hours was 2.2k, highest was 4.3k. Map was Groaning Storehouse.

11 hook 3k, last girl got the hatch. 2 gens remaining with no slowdown.

Every time I play Nurse it always goes something like the 2nd game. She was a challenge to learn, but she's easy af to play since Survivors are barely given anything to deal with her. I've made mistakes in those games as well, that were basically plastered directly on the screen. Did it matter? No, I'm the god damn Nurse.

Anybody who denies that The Nurse is strong, a killer who ignores any defenses a Survivor throws at them and has one of the best mobility tools in the game on a 6 second cooldown is delusional. Sure Nurse at the VERY highest level will struggle, not high level MMR because that shits a joke, but tourney level. I'd damn hope she'd struggle in a tourney because you're expecting top tier survivors who are literally playing for money and have AMAZING time management. But you don't see those tourney squads in normal games that often if ever.

Thanks for proving my point. If she was truly broken, those tourney squads would get smashed. The fact that they consistently beat her shows that survivors have plenty of options to counter, but survivors are too ######### or too lazy to bother learning. People being ignorant isn’t a valid point when saying that there’s nothing survivors can do.
