I mean I don't mind recording a match or 2 if you're really doubting me that much.
One match wouldn’t prove anything. Try consistently winning at high MMR with her. Not gonna happen because even she struggles at the highest level.

I don't even play Nurse that often, played her a bunch when I got my new PC 2 years ago, as I was in the process of prestiging her, she got her rework. But for a solid few weeks I was on a Nurse spree, I wen't against a good mix of survivors during that time. And the large majority of blinks I got a hit.
Nowadays, I'll miss maybe 2 or 3 blinks where my intent was to get a hit and not just close distance.
So then, you’re better than every tournament Nurse and streamer that uses her…..I don’t buy it. No doubt you could dominate before MMR since the vast majority of survivors are bad. You would have a much different opinion if you player her at high MMR now.

Who said anything about understanding? You claimed at first that I was inexperienced.
And from my experience I've learned that if you know what you're doing, there is VERY little a survivor can do.
That’s just straight up not true. Nurse and the survivor both have to guess. Unless you are a robot or the survivor is extremely predictable, it is not possible to hit every blink.

Ok mr "1k hour nurse main"
I mean yea, the time I put into her has taught me everything about her. You can play for 10,000 hours with survivor/ other killers and that won’t make you understand her.

She moves at 176% with no model or red stain and has a huge lunge. Mindgames are definitely still possible
Yea, they’re possible if the survivor doesn’t have headphones or at smaller loops (which every killer can mindgame). Any decent loop will completely shut her down. This is a horrible change.
For anyone who thinks i’m mad because i play her, guess again. I am a Nurse main, but I hate seeing another viable killer fall.

Demo is not a strong killer.

uhm because now survivors can see her and it isnt guess work on their part which made her incredibly hard to fight. Now survivors have a chance against her phasing as opposed to simply being guess work.
Right, so they can completely shut her down and always avoid a hit. Doesn’t sound equal to me.
-
@SlothGirly said:
tbh, and this is a hot take: I think the upcoming nerfs will actually make her more fun to play. Less guess work from survivors and more skill vs skill will make for a more balanced and enjoyable experience. Sometimes with Spirit I felt I only got hits because the survivor failed a 50/50. It doesnt carry the same weight as knowing you outplayed them
How is knowing where she is and staying safe skill vs skill?

@Shroompy said:
Nurse is anything but a "meh" killer, she is the most lethal killer in the game and that has been true since her release back in 2016.
Theres also a common misconception that Nurse is the hardest killer to play which just simply isnt the case, shes the hardest killer to learn. Once you get the hang of her she becomes the easiest killer since she ignores pretty much anything a survivor can throw at her.
This shows that you have limited experience. I am a 1000 hour nurse main. Yes, even a monkey could get her muscle memory down. Nurse is hard to play because you have to consistently predict survivor movement (bad survivors won’t change it up) and you have to know how much blink charge you need to eat through rooms and obstacles, which is even harder on indoor maps. You have to do all of this within the span of 2 seconds. She is the hardest killer, and this idea that she has no counterplay is nonsense.

Sweating is fine for competitive-minded players. But killers have a much smaller margin for error than survivors due to the 1v4 aspect, so the effort required to have a fun and competitive match as killer is higher. That’s why you see all these slowdown perks (Ruin, Pop, Corrupt, Tinkerer) in 90% (yes, I made that percentage up but the principle is valid) of killer builds. This creates frustration, and humans tend to be aggressive when they’re frustrated.
I totally agree, but balancing could help shake up the meta. I personally play to win, so I don’t mind it. However, it is annoying to see people complain about not wanting to sweat (mainly survivor mains, if im honest) but still expecting to win. You can’t have it both ways. If you want to win, you need to invest time and effort.

I don't enjoy certain aspects about the game, whether it being right now or upcoming in the new mid-chapter update.
Overall, the game's meta is incredibly stale and boring. And I am sick and tired of seeing the same perks on either side on every killer.
I play the game casually, so I care most about what is fun and exciting for me. So seeing the same perks every game and have basically the same experience every game is incredibly boring for me and it's pushing me away from the game.
Well you can’t dictate how other people play. Just run perks that you think are fun.

I just had to make this thread because reading through the forums gives me a headache sometimes.
I probably should not even be browsing this place right now since I am taking a break from DBD, but holy #########, I didn't think the "Us vs Them" mentality could get worse but it has.
I would just like to remind everyone here that you are not fighting in a war, you're playing a VIDEO GAME. You're playing something for fun. You can literally drop this at any time you want.
Survivor main this, Killer main that... It's getting to the point where no one is actually discussing or talking about anything and just parrot the same ######### over and over again. What's the point of a forum?
Flavour of the week seems to be about Dead Hard and Deathslinger. And instead of any actual discussion about how these two aspects of the game can be changed for the better. It's just a shitshow of people fighting. It's so ######### tiring, I legitimately wonder if BHVR should even listen to threads and suggestions in this forum because it's such an unproductive waste of time.
Not to say I'm not guilty of this myself... But I have gotten weary about it. I have some suggestions for the game which I think could make the game so much better. But I do run the risk of running into people who think my suggestions are rooted in me being "biased" as a "Survivor main" or a "Killer main".
Just... Who gives a ######### about that? I just want this game to be fun for both sides, I want to feel like the Killer is a threat in my survivor games, I want to feel like I have to work for my kills as Killer. How is that not an opinion someone can supposedly have without being a main of something?
I play this game casually, I don't want to feel the need to "git gud". If I make suggestions, it's with fun for both sides in mind. But right now the game is so ######### dull and stale that I just want to see something different.
Urgh... Sorry about the rant, but holy ######### this forum can feel like it's two echo chambers fighting each other. It's enough to drive someone nuts.
If you play the game casually, then I don’t see why any of this upsets you. Play and enjoy, regardless if you win or lose. But the fact is that if you want to win, you shouldn’t be able to do so with minimal effort. You need to sweat if you are playing against other human beings.

Wraith gets absolutely bodied in high MMR though. That's why you only see Nurse, Spirits, and Blights in high MMR, they're the only three killers that can compete in there.
Honestly, it’s probably nurse alone. Spirit is about to go the way of the dodo, and even though Blight is good, he has limitations that Nurse does not.

DH is strong, but SB is stronger. Only reason survivors use dh instead of sb is because it is a fun perk. And only reason killers find it op or obnoxious is because they see it too frequently, and because when survivor uses it in the killer's face, they feel they've been robbed a hit/down.
I strongly disagree. Sprint burst is good, but a survivor typically uses it off of a gen, so the killer knows it’s not worth chasing. Dead hard comes into play after the killer has started a chase and is absolutely devastating. There is no counter to using it to make a vault/pallet. Add a few of these together, and that’s the match gone.

hopefully something can be done like LOL banning certain killers or something so at least you can get variety i wouldnt mind waiting 10 minutes for a decent game instead of going against 2 spirits in a row or 3. really.

Cages spawn at the furthest point from PH so you can generally guess where it is pretty well. Cages are mainly for stopping ds/pallet saves anyway so it doesn’t matter too much if the survivors save early. Also while I will say killer is the harder role there is a lot of skill to playing survivor especially when it comes to looping.
Yes, you can often tell where the cage will spawn. The problem is that you can’t know if there is a survivor in that region or not. If saving three seconds or avoiding a pallet is the best you can say for cages, i’d say you just confirmed they are weak.
As someone who plays ALOT of survivor, saying that it takes much skill just isn’t true. These days you don’t even have to know how to loop. Just hold forward and slam pallets early. The only reason you normally lose at high ranks is by making a huge mistake or getting a potato in your lobby, but that’s the nature of a team game.

Come on don't be disingenuous. You know damn well there is more to the survivor gameplay than holding forward. I can absolutely immediately identify a decent survivor, a bad survivor, a good survivor, or an extremely good survivor. The fact I can tell the difference indicates there is a difference between them to begin with.
You should know as well as anyone that holding forward is incredibly strong. Survivor takes minimal skill and is much more about running early and knowing tiles. Killer takes significantly more skill.

”he’s way too much work for too little reward” an injure over pallets/windows and short cooldown is not good enough? Plus cages only benefit survivors if you use them wrong.
So what you’ve essentially said is a bad pyramid head player will make him look bad? In that case I agree
No, it’s not good enough, especially when killers like Nemesis and DS can do it for much less work. The cages are usually complete RNG. You can’t know at all times where the survivors are, so you’re hoping it doesn’t spawn next to one of them. Decent survivors rarely clump together, so more often than not you will be sending the cage to a nearby teammate. It is utterly worthless.

There a lot of middleground, i.e the vast majority of the playerbase, that is in between "not knowing how to play the game" and "literal tournament play."
This game is polarizing. Either you know how to loop/hold forward, or you don’t. What makes an average player? Someone who hides? Someone who does gens but can’t loop? If you know how to loop/tiles, you will guaranteed waste a ton of most killers’ time.

Are you really going to base this off the highest level of DBD? That’s just not a fair argument. Everyone knows only the top tier can compete which isn’t really a PH specific problem. High level DBD is just boring and no one cares about it.
Then why are we talking about character strength at all? Yea, if no one knows how to play the game, pyramid head will dominate. But the same can be said of every killer, which makes character strength discussions pointless. This is the only community that thinks it’s valid to discuss the game at a level in which people are bad at the game.

Ok I can't take you seriously if you think PH is a weak killer.
Compared to Nurse, Spirit, Blight? He comes nowhere near them. If you want to deny reality, that’s your problem. In hexy’s tournament, Nurse averaged 2k. When ph was used, he was lucky to get two hooks. Like most of the cast, he is irrelevant.

@Phasmamain said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2544401#Comment_2544401
Then why do I like PH? Is he not in control of chase?
Nope, in fact PH is a good example of what is wrong with killer. It is way too hard to consistently hit his power, and even then it has limitations. He is way too much work for too little reward, not to mention his cages, which can often help the survivor. If you are going to put that much effort into the game, you are far better off playing someone like nurse or blight. PH is a pointless character.

I don’t want every killer to be trash I want a killer who I can react to and have a chance to outplay with skill as opposed to blind guessing. This is why I like blight, Oni, Bubba, PH, Billy, huntress and wraith since they have these options
Exactly…. you prefer to always be in control and not have to guess. You’d rather just shut the power down entirely.

It should be balanced so that the better players win. You shouldn’t be able to slam pallets without mindgames and allow your team to win.

Few months ago people were outraged/meme'd about how it worked like 1% of the time.
Now somehow its the most broken perk in the game without any changes to it.
Sprint burst is waaaaaaaaaaaay better, majority of the time.
Sprint burst is good, but not better. At least with sprint burst, killer can make the survivor use it and not engage in a chase. Dead hard becomes a factor after the killer has already committed to a chase, and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to stop the survivor from making a pallet or vault. That can often decide the match, especially if there is more than one survivor with dh.

But you cant tell if she's behind the wall or on your side of the wall. You're 100% ignoring that aspect.
The only reason Spirit is super easy to counter now, is because a lot of Spirit play her as if she had no indication at all. People still need to learn how to use her power to play misinformation. I've had quite good survivors vault a pallet into my face because they thought I was on their side of the vault. Yknow, players that told me Spirit was absolutely gutted and easy to counter now.
Previously, that was a 50/50 scenario on whether you would get a hit or not. That match? I won about 60% of my mindgames. That is better than the original coinflip. Spirit has new strengths she can use that people completely ignore.
Could you deduce exactly where she is if you had enough time? Yes, 100%. But she's nearly twice as fast as survivors, survivors dont have enough time to fully deduce where she exactly is, just where she is most likely to be. Which is good.
Good survivors will know where she is the majority of the time. It’s funny, you talk about not knowing which side of the wall Spirit is on, but when I have used that talking point to show people that old spirit couldn’t know where survivors were at a structure, I was told to get gud.
-
@UMCorian said:
Also a killer main, but get some perspective dude.
Every minute of DBD that gets played, 80% of that is experienced from the Survivor side. Survivor side has to come first. It's far more punishing for them if killers have elements that are unfun to play against - so they'll always go after the killer side of the game bullishly and take great, great care before changing anything that makes it harder on Survivors.
I suspect the DS nerfs earlier this year were something the devs were having stress dreams about. They knew it had to be done, but the mental gymnastics they were using to leave DS as is was getting absurd. Like they literally argued themselves into a corner when they nerfed Pop for basically the same exact reason DS needed to be nerfed... and the community called them on it so hard.
Fortunately, they seem to have worked out OK.
No, survivor definitely doesn’t have to come first. I bought and paid for the game just like they did.

It probably has something to do with Survivors being a uniform group and Killers all being unique.
Nerf one Killer perk/mechanic and it will have disproportionate impacts on the roster. Buff one Killer perk/mechanics and it will also have disproportionate impacts on the roster.
In this patch, for example, if you’re a Ghost Face or Trapper main its a buff. But if you’re a Slinger or Spirit main its a nerf. Some Killers thrive while other suffer. Every patch forever.
The problem is, the buffs are minimally effective. It doesn’t matter because the game is survivor sided. Neither Trapper nor Plague can handle a strong group.
-
@GannTM said:
She is still invisible and moves at 176% movement speed compared to survivors’ 100%. Survivors just have counterplay now and it feels like an interactive battle between the killer and survivor, even though the killer has most of the control as they should.
The only thing that was gutted about Spirit was the stand still stupid ######### which I’m glad is getting removed. It absolutely needed to go. It was a cute little thing the first time you witness it but there’s just nothing good about it.
Good Spirit players like myself will be just fine after this nerf and she’s going to be even more fun than before because of the counterplay she has been given.
Also, one last thing I would like to say is I know that this is my 100th time mentioning Spirit since the nerf announcement but I’m just very excited for what’s about to come for Rin.
She was gutted because there isn’t a mindgame anymore. The survivor can tell where she is based on sound and stay safe 100% of the time. Once again, survivor controls the chase.

She can create dead zones because a lot of smart survivors will probably drop pallets faster than other killers. Also she still has the mobility. Wish they would increase her recovery speed to compensate the nerf but it’s not that big of a deal.
A survivor team can slam pallets early and still get the gens done. It’s a huge problem. By the time the pallets are gone, the game is over.

Slinger only ever misses, you don't dodge him. How do I react to and dodge a shot when by the time he's fully raised his gun he's already fired? With any ranged killers or killers who launch themselves at you - huntress, trickster, plague, PH and nemesis as well as demo and twins you get a cue when they're going to hit you with their M2/M2 + M1.
With slinger if you're not behind cover you can only pre-emptively weave back and forth while losing ground and as soon as you stop he can insta-shoot. And any slinger can shoot straight in front of them. Not disregarding the impressive aim some slingers have, but any of them can shoot someone running in a straight line in front of them. I suck at slinger and I can do that.
Maybe don’t run in a straight line? You predict when slinger is going to shoot and dodge. If you are about to round a corner, he will be forced to take a shot. It requires input by both players.

Oh, no. That's not the problem. In a balanced game, a skilled player should be able to consistently beat a less skilled player. The problem is that a skilled survivor cannot win a chase against a less skilled Slinger, unless the Slinger is just mind-bogglingly unskilled with him.
Right, because wiggling and dodging won’t ever cause Slinger to miss. It’s obvious you don’t play killer.

The thing is, the Devs have said multiple times that they balance the game towards fun. FUN. Not balance. Spirit and Deathslinger were not fun to play against, because their feedback was minimal, and their counterplay was minimal. They are changing the things that made those Killers not fun to play against. I do not think Deathslinger will "die" if he has to actually complete his aiming animation to shoot a fast moving projectile; Huntress has to do that same thing. FEEDBACK. I don't think Spirit's additional feedback will make her useless when she has high mobility. In short loops, or loops blocked by walls, her high speed might still give the Survivor little time to react to where she's coming from.
The point I am making, is that these changes are not that major. They are trying to change the specific things about these two Killers that Survivors have been complaining about for a long time, because they aren't enjoyable to go against.
I don’t have fun going against survivor teams that slam pallets early and make it impossible to catch them. I don’t have fun playing on gigantic maps with gen spreads that are impossible to defend. I don’t have fun chasing at loops with no mind game. Why does that not matter?

- Activate/Deactivate ADS: 0.15 seconds
- Firing delay: 0.5 seconds.
- This refers to the time it takes for the projectile to launch from the gun after pressing the Attack button.
The ADS spam is precisely the issue. Either he m2's and fires or he goes back to an m1. Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.
This was the exact same issue with pyramid head's m2 back into m1 with no penalty. Either you take the hit at the pallet/window from m2 or if you bait it the killer very quickly gets an m1 regardless of what you do as a survivor.
I attached the stats for Deathslingers ads and firing delay pulled from the wiki. If that doesn't put it into perspective then I don't know what else.
The killer is supposed to be stronger than the survivor in a chase. It’s a 4v1.

I'm sorry but if you think having 0 knowledge against her was one of the most fair things in DBD that is just comical. Again, she still plays the same, you can get easy hits, and you still have insane map pressure. I'm sorry you think just giving her directional audio is breaking the character, but she will still be an insane killer. The survivor still doesn't control the chase, and if you think that then you were just someone that liked her because she was extremely easy and powerful.
She doesn’t play the same. The survivors can see her track marks on the ground and know which side of the pallet to slam from. Her power now offers nothing other than a little more speed. She is a worse wraith.

How will she be incredibly weak? Legitimately? She still has insane movement speed, the ability to catch survivors off guard still, and the ability to get easy hits on almost every single tile and loop in the game. The only difference is she doesnt have the cheesy, easy mindgames that don't give survivors any choice except a guessing game.
Here’s the problem: that “cheesy” guessing game was one of the most fair things in DBD. Now the survivor pretty much knows where she is and, if the survivor is paying attention, can avoid spirits phase the majority of the time. That’s not “counterplay “, that’s the survivor controlling everything. This is how survivor mains want every killer to be: easily and consistently counterable. Unfortunately, it seems like the devs agree. She will join Billy in extinction.

Good lmao she was extremely strong for an unfair reason. This killer now has actual counterplay while still being incredibly strong.
She will now be incredibly weak. I predict we won’t see her at all anymore, just like Billy and most other killers.
