I want a pallet rebalance already. Perk shakeup would be nice and all, but the base game itself is flawed right now. Playing survivor is just hold W simulator and killer is pallet break simulator, its stupidly boring. And I'm saying that as someone who enjoys generators and skill checks. Idk how, but they managed to make chases boring on both sides, all in what I assume is an attempt to bring the top 3 best killer's win-rates down a good 5%. Just in that process they've brought us back to 2016 DBD where chases are near-impossible to win if a survivor knows correct pathing. Bloodlust is pointless if there's 5 pallets all within 10 meters of each other. Like, I never thought The Game or Hawkins Lab could get any more unfun to play on, but here we are.
It feels like the devs don't test their own changes for more than 2 minutes, then send it to PTB. And if there isn't an uproar from the community loud enough to be heard all the way in the depths of the Mariana Trench, then they don't change it before it goes live. So their solution? Don't make any changes at all anymore…
Pallet density has been getting worse, and worse, and worse. It feels like every match I play the RNG finds a new combination of pallet and tile spawns on survivor that leaves half of the map a barren wasteland, or on killer it somehow makes it so that every loop-able tile that can spawn does spawn. Doing a flat buff to the number of pallets, like it seems they did, has done nothing but make the game stale. Just like how they shrunk the size of almost every map just to add like 3 back-to-back mobility killers, BHVR has a tendency to forget what they were trying to achieve halfway through making changes, no matter how noble their intentions might be. Anti-slugging and anti-tunneling changes are a great example. They're all we've seen in terms of major balancing for the last year practically. And both of them were scrapped because, honestly, they were unnecessary and overkill. BHVR needs to ask WHY killers are slugging and tunneling, not how to remove slugging and tunneling.
Dead by Daylight has not been a hide and seek game for a long time now, its been balanced around chases for the majority of its life at this point. The reason balancing any killer outside of the top 3, or buffing survivors in any way, will both be meaningless currently is because the gameplay itself has desensitized chases. Now killers' only chance of winning is avoiding chase as much as possible, get one person out as quickly as you can, so then you can actually slow generator progress enough to afford kicking the map's 25+ pallets (also not an exaggeration, I once went in customs and counted 27 pallets on Trickster's Delusion)
Pallets were a resource, they should've stayed a resource, and should always be a resource. The fact that they are balancing the game itself around top tier killers instead of the top tier killers around the game is worrisome. All we can do is hope they don't waste anymore time and resources on remedying the game's issues (slugging/tunneling) and instead tackle the actual causes (pallets/perks/map design) of these issues.
How is bloodlust useless? The whole point of bloodlust is to chase surviviors, not breaking the pallets.
Additional move speed is there to help you out playing around the pallet. You're doing something wrong. If you stop breaking pallets, learn to play around killer's red light, start mind-gaming people you will start to win chases more frequently.
Pallet density doesn't matter if you can actually play around the pallets and can avoid getting stunned. We are nowhere near 2016 DBD, because back when I started playing dbd I would be healing myself twice in one chase with green med-kit.
If we are taking about Trickster delusion, you might wanna count how many pallets are actually useable in there, because most of them are a free hit/down.

Respectfully if an exhaustion perk only allows you to survive 10 seconds longer, skill issue. 3 second of haste should be plenty to reach a pallet/window especially in current pallet density. I say balance around competent survivors because we SHOULD be trying to push for people to get better and not settle for mediocrity and balance around it in a PVP game.
No, I never said it gives me 10 seconds more.
It mostly happens to randoms and surviviors I go against. If pallet density doesn't allow you to kill surviviors, that's skill issue. This work for both sides.
Why can't we push killers to get better, if they care much more to get wins? Even tho they win more than their 60% matches.

I'm assuming you're referring to me so I'm going to say no just because high tiers are in the game doesn't balance out exhaustion especially in current pallet density. If it was 2021-2022 pallet counts MAYBE you could justify some exhaustion perks being as strong as they are now but when there's a pallet within a sprint burst distance nearly anywhere on the map…. no.
You also didn't read what I said in the second part. How much time TOTAL. 2-3 minutes extra wasted because over the coarse of the match you have to chase each person with an exhaustion perk extending each chase on average about 20 seconds for little to no input is insane. 20 seconds chasing or in other words up to 60 extra seconds of gen efficiency time. Trying to use pain res DMS as a comparison is just not equivalent either. If it was Dead Mans Switch in its strongest state sure but only blocking and regressing one gen by 20% is hardly the same thing and even then, that has a requirement of only unique hooks so only 4 per game while the strongest exhaustions requirements are no effort on the survivors end.
And I usually am more stressed at my teammates than I am killer builds as the average survivor in this game just is a VERY low bar in all honesty. So, trying to balance around them by saying (not you particularly) "oh this isn't so bad because X bad players use it and don't do well!' is not it.
This goes without saying I try to balance around people actually being competent. Not the P3 meg because balancing around bad players is just not healthy for a strictly PVP game.Surviviors shouln not be pounching bags.
They need something else than pallets and windows, because a lot of killers dont care about them.
Like I said before, killer queue time is terrible because there is too much killers and not enough surviviors to fill the 1:4 player ratio that is required for a game.
Nerfing surviviors when their experience is a lot of the times unenjoyable and repetitive isn't healthy for the game.
It's not always 20-30 second longer chase because of exhaustion, this might be 5-10 sec longer chase and people will still die.
Killer mains should stop talking like they always play against eternal or praxis, that's just not the case for the 99% of your playtime.
You seem to forget that most of the games end at 4k3, 4k4, 4k5 and you have above 60% winrate by default.Like you said - if average surviviors is low tier then how are we supposed to balance game around high tier surviviors?
They are minority. -

Hitting sprint in range is bit difficult unless you have great aim and especialy prediction because sprint is 18 metersin 3 seconds so thats hard to hit especialy when survivor can use surrounding objects to get from dashes and projectiles.
You mention lot of killers can catch up but some you mentioned are super unreliable like dreadge cant unless you ran near or into locker, henry cant because his hitbox doesnt make it easy to hit you with that speed and his mobility has huge cooldown so you will have still lot of distance between you two.
Clown slows you but takes more time to catch up then wraith, lot of these killers need very specific situations to catch up like billy wont be able too catch up much on infoor map etc.
Sprint is great perk and gives you ability to gain massive distance to safety or doge attack that you wouldnt be able too normaly, if killer like huntress still hits you with axe while you are sprinting its your fault because is fricking hard to do.
Dredge is one of the unreliable killers, you're right with that. I was wondering if I should put her on that list.
I decided to do that because as game progresses, dredge gets stronger and get the locks off the lockers.Henry can and does hit running targets, you don't even need to be great at this killer - surviviors mess up a lot against him.
Clown uses yellow bottles now, they are better. This grants you 12-15% movement speed.
Surviviors can hide behind the objects and you are right, but that's where skill expression comes in.
You can still predict movement with a lot of killers and dash towards the place, you can hit over those objects aswell with a lot of killers. -

Killers with catch up potencial exist since 2016 hillbilly so not kinda truth, sprint is countered mostly by killers that can catch up like dracula, krasue, wraith, billy, ghoul and not by killers with mobility to specific spot like freddy, springtrap.
Sprint got nerfed by exhastion not going away when running and that was it plus og 20 seconds cooldown got to 40 seconds on maxed sprintburst.
Sprint was meta since game release and buffed vigil still keeps it very popular and strong.
Majority of killers can catch up or down you very quickly after sprint burst.
hillbilly, nurse, blight, clown, spirit, oni (in power), blight, twins as a victor, dredge, Singularity, lich, dark lord, ghoul, krasue, the first, wesker…
a lot of killers are ranged - huntress, unknown, trickster, animatronic, the first, deathslinger, demogorgon has great range too but you need to be accurate
-
I really don't believe that exhaustion perks are the problem. We can't nerf surviviors more and more.
Killers already have very long queue times, meaning more and more people want to play killers less surviviors are playing.
People look at comp swfs and say that surviviors need nerfs. No, they do not.
Each new killers has bloated kit like someone mentioned before.
Playing killer is the easiest it has ever been in general.I strongly believe that weaker killers need a buff, strong killers should stay as they are and do not touch surviviors, unless it's buffs to solo queue.
Nerfing exhaustion perks is just stupid.
Killers try to kill surviviors things one by one… current targets are exhaustions, vigil and StB.
Worked with cross examination, why wouldn't work for those too.. right? -

Because they are one time use for each chase. They've been like this for loooong time.

Queue times between 8pm and 1am are 3 to 5 minutes, few months back queue time was instant within those hours.
There is more killers and less surviviors than before. If we keep on ignoring surviviors we will have problem

Yep. And this is regardless of roles, some Perks or skins just increase in usage when there is a Bug which makes them better than supposed to be. See Were-Elk, Streetwise, Wake Up, Merciless Storm and so on. Which is why I am also a fan of using the Killswitch way more.
I went against streamer with around 30 people on stream that was abusing doctor on the anniversary mode.
Doctor was bugging people out so that they couldn't do anything for the whole match, no healing, no gens etc.
I asked if he was aware of that bug and he said he was aware and "if devs didn't killswitch the killers this bug will not be bannable".
Later I checked his VOD and he only played doctor and abused that bug. -

I should've done the same last year but wasn't expecting the p100 obliteration nerf lol
I've had experience and memory of previous years.
I will do the same thing this year :) I really recommend keeping your characters on p80-90 next year.
-
People would stop using flashlights AND sabo builds, which are very rare anyway.
I think it's a bad idea overall. You've got perks, use them.
-
I made 4x p100 killers (Oni, Spirit, Unknown and Wesker)… but I kept them at p90 for a long time. Just to squeeze in some cakes.
So just needed 10 prestiges per character. Most I have on single character is 1050 on Taurie.
I got cakes across 9 killers and 5 surviviors tho for some flexibility.

I do not need proof to know that queue times will explode if we allow killer bans. Killers are forced to queue up as the killer of their choice, they cannot switch killers after queueing up. Killers do not have equal playrates, some killers are far more popular than others and survivors in the lobby will be affected by choices made by the other survivor.
So if you don't ban facing Nurse, but at least 1 other survivor in the lobby you are in does, then the game would not match your lobby up with a killer queueing as Nurse. Not to mention any time a new killer releases and survivors ban facing the new killer.
So you basically didn't read my topic and commneting.
My idea was to let whole lobby have killers banned, not every player.
-
@Crowman said:
A couple things.
- This will not only increase queue times for people trying to play the strongest killers. This will make the queue times longer for everyone, because no the system has to find a killer that all 4 survivors in the lobby have not banned.
- Survivors will still find a reason to DC even if they ban going against a few killers.
- You have no proof of that. This could be a thing if community was very small. We have 86k people online right now on steam alone.
- Some people will, for sure. Not everyone.

Can you give actual examples of events that were that bad for survivors? "previous ones" is way too vague, and I'm sorry (not really), but I won't accept an event from, say 2017 as an example: I didn't play the game, and the team didn't have 10 years of balancing behind their backs. During the events I've witnessed survivors were able to remotely block windows to prevent killers from vaulting, while they were able to vault just fine. I don't remember an event that was THAT heavily killer-sided anyways with barely anything giving survivors an edge.
Players throwing is not an argument in favor of the "balance" existing in this event either. I get match against those who know what they're doing, and sometimes know that too well, especially during this event.
Past masquarade events.
You can't deny that remote pallet break wasn't broken, right?
The tables can heal surviviors, but every table needs 4 dishes to be activated.
Every dish was taking time to get, move and leave on the table.
This takes time to finish, its not instant.
The only time when it was very punishing for killer was when killer would play "hit and run" tactic.
We can argue that teleports, invisibility, invincibility, not being able to break the pallet or dash were strong and stuff, but poison was extremely unengaging and strong. Everything was easily countered - surviviors made noises, you could wait for invincibility to end, it was just like old styptic - nothing new, easy to play around.
Killer could use it and get free hits within few seconds, you can't say it was "just a fart" like content creators called them.I don't believe that event was heavily survivior sided, just slightly.
-
I watched Refined video and he said: "You are supposed to be power role, killer is supposed to be power role and surviviors should be scared of you"
And he says things like people have second chance perks, surviviors have friends who can help…
So to me as someone who doesn't experience such things it seems like he really would like games to be a easy stomps so killers could feel like a real power role.
How I understand this from his video, this killer anxiety happens because surviviors are being too strong, having second chances is too strong, having teammates is too strong.
How he explains this makes me think like devs should make the game easier for killers so people wouldn't feel the "killer anxiety".
I just hope this isn't the case and some sneaky way to make killer role stronger. -
Thank you BHVR!
-
I believe cake decision is opposite to what they want.
It all just feels like they want us to spend more time in game to make more cakes.
For some of us this will simply not work because there is only so much time we can spend in game, because real life etc.And then if someone doesn't get enough cakes for the year they will simply avoid playing.
I know this is a case for a part of community. That's what some of the people I met before do.We have cakes on more characters = We might buy skins for them = We might spend more time in the game because we have incentive
People that don't get incentives might move to another games.
We have 53 surviviors and 43 killers! 99.9% of the playerbase will never be able to upgrade everyone to p100.
It all just seems off.

@Mandy does this all mean that rarity will be common, BUT drop rate will be the same as it is right now?
Or will we be getting more? 17-19 cakes for 1.1m doesn't feel great on survivior.
-
This seems like it's their new way of making busted killers, which is concerning.
Ghoul was busted, Krasue was busted, First was very good and frustrating, Jason seems busted with all he got in his kit.
This isn't "one time" thing, this is the new way. Poor surviviors.
We can't wonder why killer matches aren't instant in the evenings like before, much more people only want to play killer and not touch the survivior side.
Yet we have people saying dbd is survivior sided and that devs are biased towards surviviors.

So, BHVR is back on Twitter with a post on the Grimoire, but still not addressing anything else.

Most comments are about cakes and event balance.
-
I believe people in BHVR need few wins as a gaming company right now.
Making people angry because of cake doesn't help you at all - especially with arguable recent releases, recent loses, recent community situation (people aren't satisfied with balancing, killers, survivior tactics, perks and everything overall).
We are hopeful that we get a bugfix today with balancing changes and fixed cake rate.
Losing pressure as a killer if 4 people get immidiately health state doesnt feel good.
Losing to a poison as a survivor doesn't feel good at all - poisons are too strong.
I hope I will be back with positive feedback in an hour or two.

This can't be intended, right? This is much less then what we had before.

I just feel like, I don't know, why aren't people angrier? Why aren't they louder? Are these Jason supporters just lying about him being fine because the want the easiest time they've ever had in this game? I'm just so baffled by this praise while I'm playing against the most free, the most overstuffed, and most forgiving killer the game has probably ever seen.
I mean, he even gets TBtC clock as an add-on while fulfilling zero activation requirements, and an anti-Exhaustion add-on too. I normally advocate against Exhaustion but it's pretty much your only chance to make distance from him, and even I'm so desperate I'm running Overcome—but then it just gets countered by the add-on anyway.
I never want to hear a word about skill expression ever again from anyone who thinks this killer is B tier or fine as is.
Because my friend, surviviors mains are those who log in daily or weekly for an hour or two.
They take the game as a friend group meeting hub and don't really visit forums, reddit, X.
I also believe that they are lying about him being fine, because he is hands down great to play as (ghoul situation again).
Those killer mains just don't seem to care about survivior experience at all.Man, I feel like there is more and more reasons for surviviors not to play.
That's not the case for me personally, because I do stick around loyal.Ghoul was the big reason why people didn't want to play, Jason is now.
People DC against them both quite frequently from my experience.Isn't the amount of DC alarming for devs?
I just wish dbd won't push those people away with the releases. Ghoul was miserable, Jason isn't the greatest.
On top of that there was no content for survivior during Jason's release.
People who say "playing against jason is the survivior content" are somewhat delusional. It is something new, but that's not the content we need. -
@jajay119 said:
I posted this in the feedback area but I’ll post it here as well - imo Jason and The First have started a trend of having too much going for them and making other Ks redundant.
…
I don’t think he’s necessarily overpowered, but he has WAY too much going on as part of his basic kit.He is essentially 6 (SIX) killers in one: Huntress, Wraith, Spirit, Animatronic, Legion and whatever Original Vecna is called, but he has a one up on every single one of them. What’s the point in playing any of them anymore when one killer combines them together and gives them extras on top.
Omnipresent Evil gives him both speed and stealth with less tell than wraith or spirit. He also has more info reading than spirit. The fact he can stay in it indefinitely and with no cool down is busted.
Jump scare means any of the ways you can try and negate the stealth power of OE are nullified because he makes you scream when he reforms revealing your location. This includes when you’re in a locker which is the normal defecto aura/exposed counter. Revealing people in lockers is legion’s thing as is time wasting which is another new thing with Jason cause you spend so much time immobile in the fog or crouch walking to and from gens cause you have no idea if/when/where he is going to pop up. He also gets basekit Bamboozle because any vaults or pallets he appears at get blocked and there’s nothing you can do about it which essentially renders Venca useless cause his whole strength was flying round the map, revealing location and being able to block pallets in chase. Also, why are there extra broken pallets around for him? What’s that about?
Not only does he have stealth and speed, but he is also a ranged killer. Why would you play as huntress or even Trickster and waste time going to lockers to restock when Jason can do it when he is nowhere near hooks or refill stations? He can even get them from occupied hooks which, again, is busted. His spear works the same as animatronic’s axe where it embeds itself into you and can also impale you into other stuff as well - so why bother playing as him anymore when you get both speedy map traversal without using doors and a better ranged weapon?
I felt they did this too with The First/Vecna but they’ve really outdone themselves with Jason and they’re entering a problematic era of killer development because they’re both trying to share resources in not making Killers to dissimilar to each other but also making the older roster of Ks redundant. It’s so bizarre to see some killers only have two entries in the new ‘killer power’ feature and Vecna and Jason have four. They really need to do some more balancing with this because it’s not great.
He also has ability to negate vault that already happened.
I've had situation yesterday in which I slow vaulted the window and in the half of the vault I got sent back to site I was before because jason decided to tp to the same window.
That's busted. The lich doesn't send you back at least, when he vaults same window with the fly.

I feel the same way. Almost everyone I know, across all skill levels, high and low hours, is miserable. Even in a 4 stack with skilled players we get wiped. I've never seen such mass unhappiness with this game, nor have I ever felt so much myself. Yet I come to the forum and see "he's fine" or "he's B tier". Compare him to other killers who are considered B. Hell, compare him to As.The only one I'd say he's similar to is Ghoul in that he's low effort high reward.
He actually is strong.
No other killers has
- Mobility so great
- Projectile
- Zoning ability
- Free survivior position reading
- Free vault block ability
- double hit ability
On top of all those his special ability literally makes survivior stop doing things for long time (especially good with hex ruin).
He can protect hexes very well
Great at basement camping
Great at camping 2nd stage if surviviors wait till last second
Directional audio cue when he teleports isn't greatest on the survivior side.
He doesn't care much about palletsAND his 4.6 m/s speed boost is too easy to obtain and long enough to make significant differences.
He just has so much free things in his kit… it's ridiculous.
No one protects this killer but killer mains - every killer main says he is the most balanced killer in the game.
Not a single "full" survviior main agrees.
He makes the games pretty boring - I feel like I start the game all over, crouching somewhere in the map trying not to be found.
I really hope for some adjustments.

It is again killer who is fun for killer mains and kinda not great for surviviors cough ghou.. cough.

Jason is fine & is balanced perfectly, Nothing is wrong with him.
This is the one sided whining tribalism that needs to go already.
Because of this Krasue got destroyed, Bearly seen now due to some not all survivors. Not wanting to learn her counter play.
Now you’re complaining about Jason, Even tho he’s been out barely a day.
Every time now on day one a new killer comes out, This bad habit needs to stop with the one sided narrative. It’s bad for community & over all games health !
Stop it already, He’s been out a day & you’re complaining.
It shows your true intentions,
Play both sides learn & adapt have fun in the fog !
This is coming from a player, Who does play both sides & has been activity playing since 2019.
Just stop with one sided narrative, Jason hasn’t even been out for 2 months to even get more data on him.
Personally he’s an A- at best.
Happy 10th anniversary all!
🍾
Every side is important, every feedback matters.
Survivior experience matters. They need to enjoy the game and have a good time aswell.
No one will come if they are a punch bag for killers.I've been playing more survivior yesteday than killer and losing the games at 4 gens didn't feel good at all.
If surviviors don't enjoy they game, they won't be playing - that's just the fact.
Without surviviors killer queue will be very high.Krasue's counterplay is taking hits and being coordinated, this is just impossible without comunication, which means solo queue is in big disadventage.
She is still very strong btw, people don't play her because there is nothing special about it. She was busted and new, that's why people played her back when she was released. Krasue nerfs were needed.Jason definitely needs adjustments.
