I mean, I'm supposed to go for anyone I want really... Those ones just tend to be a little more fun to go after lol. That being said, there's still nothing better than making the big dude up front (we're told to jump out in the middle of most groups anyway - they're the ones who didn't wanna lead and tend to be more afraid) who's talking a big game about how nobody has scared him yet almost piss himself. I usually have to go a little over the top to get that scare, and obviously it doesn't work 100% of the time - but when it does... Oh man, that feels good 😂😂

    This man is DBD IRL

  • Neither perk says they don't, and it stands to reason they would. It'd only work at end game when the killer is carrying though, so very very situational.

  • I mean that was the last update, so I doubt anything has changed.

I haven't noticed bad graphics, but the game is definitely not performing very well. I'm getting constant frame drops on either side, and lots of infinite load screens or "host unreachable" issues.

I'd say wait for the next update with Oni.

I've been to one of these before. It was a tractor ride through a corn maze and then you guys jump out with REAL chainsaws sans the chains and scare the crap outta people. This poor girl was screaming so hard, I bet your supposed to go for those ones huh? xD

You sure you don't have to also wait 40 seconds for your perk to become active again? Cuz that's usually how it goes. And yeah, I'm just saying, even if you're trying to do the trap, Pigs tend to check their boxes too, so doing them isn't always easy. I've actually died trying to get one off one time because the key was in the box where a survivor was looping, went to another box nearby while my head was about to pop, then died by the time she left the box.

I'm very positive of it. Unless it's a bug. Or maybe you used an exhaustion perk, got caught, given an RBT which locks the timer, and then it counts down after you remove it. But if you got hooked it should reset.

As for the Pig's exhaustion RBTs, honestly, it's kinda BS. You have to be exhausted while an RBT is on your head, then wait until the exhaustion effect wears off once you get it off your head. If it wore off as soon as you took the RBT off your head, sure, maybe, but even then to be exhausted the entire time an RBT is on your head while being chased and being unable to get it off sounds kind of unfair. If it's active especially, and if no one heals you. Feels like there are too many things working against you in that situation.

I'm pretty sure it goes away the moment you take the trap off though. And yea, it hurts you if you still have a trap but that's, like, the whole point. It's to encourage you to do the trap instead of gens (which good survivors tend to do anyway and only worry about the trap after it's active).

  • Considering she is a slow killer and you have to actually hit someone with a hatchet, Huntress's exhaustion add-ons are just fine.

Pig's exhaustion add-ons require you to have an RBT which is also fine because it means she caught you at least once. Do boxes, remove the trap, and it's all fine.

Clown's exhaustion add-ons, however, I think are unfair mainly because he doesn't need to have good aim to have it affect you. Heck he doesn't even need to land it near you, you just need to run through the gas. The add-on should be changed to only affect you if he hits you with the bottle, BUT to compensate double the timer. Also make it so the timer stops if you are in the gas and for maybe 5 seconds after exiting the gas (which he can use to keep you exhausted if you already were). This way if he inflicts exhaustion he at least has to use some skill, not just toss it by a loop and push you into the gas.

  • BLOOD QUEEN (Spirit)

    • Stridor
    • Sloppy Butcher
    • Dying Light
    • Thanataphobia
    • Dirty Uwabaki/Katsumori Talisman & Wakizashi Saya
    • Would be Amulet & Saya but after the update I would take this combo instead.

    POKER FACE (Spirit)

    • Insidious
    • Make Your Choice
    • No One Escapes Death
    • Stridor/Shadowborn
    • Prayer Beads Bracelet & Bloody Hair Brooch
    • The ultimate stand still trick. Insidious procs on the husk, meaning if you stand still for about a second before activating your power it will proc when you begin phasing. Prayer Beads means survivors can never know if you are phasing or just standing there. Hook someone, walk 32m away until MYC lights up, turn around and just wait. Stand out in the open for 10 seconds at a time then phase after someone you see in the distance. Could replace NOED with something else, but I put it on just incase survivors are too scared and end up gen rushing. Sadly this build won't work after the next update 😥

    CLASS REUNION (old Freddy)

    • Remember Me
    • Rancor
    • No One Escapes Death
    • Brutal Strength
    • Class Photo & Black Box
    • This was an old Freddy build. Obsession spawns in the Dream World. Literally just chase them all game. Don't even take the hook, if you down them let someone pallet or flashlight save, or drop reset them. When the last gen pops, Rancor the obsession. Go around put the others to sleep with Class Photo (if the Obsession has Adren this works in your favor since you can put them to sleep and see where everyone else is). Slug the other 3 with NOED. Game Over. Brutal is so you can force the obsession to waste pallets so survivors have no defense at end game.

I'd love to see something like that in the future and make it a regular thing. We would need to figure out what type of data you guys want to see, though. If we do it regularly, we couldn't give a ton of different stats each time (that would take way too much of the data team's time). It'd also be nice to narrow it down to a few categories that would appear every time so you can compare one month to the last.

How many times survivors have collectively crouched.

  • Dark Devotion is actually good for Ghostface, even more now that it does Undetectable. You basically get free hits without losing shroud. And if you have even just the white recovery add-on you get your power back before DD is over.

  • Do you mean the tiles don't have RNG? Because I think a lot of tiles work that way, just sometimes they have gens/totems/chests and such, which I'm pretty sure Ormond has too.

Plague gets a ranged attack if your team is stupid, so you want us to remove that ability as well? What shuts down a killer that can damage you at range whenever your team is dumb enough to cleanse? And no I don’t feel plague is OP, just trying to show you how ridiculous you sound.

If your team cleanses haunted ground the killer can one shot down you, I’ve literally heard the explosion mid chase before and been downed two seconds later, get rid of HG too.

    1) Doesn't one shot you.

    2) Doesn't last forever. Even with add-ons you get at most 30 seconds.

    3) She can't trigger it when right behind you, she has to go out of her way to get it.

So again not the same as infinite EW3. And I'm not complaining about normal EW either. Just infinite. Because unlimited one shots is dumb.

Defending it while shaming Prayer Beads is the epitome or hypocrisy.

I list you the differences between the myers and the spirit build.

Myers is kinda predictable, Spirit is not. Not at all.

Myers needs a certain amount of time to get in EW3, Spirit got everything handed right away.

Myers don't got high mobility, Spirit does.

Do i need to go on? One shot downs are stupid huh? Red ranks killer huh? Sure m8 lol.

That's great and all but Spine Chill completely shuts down Prayer Beads. Like it's not even an issue, she literally wasted an add-on if you have it.

So yea, your points are moot on that alone.

Neither belongs in the game. PERIOD.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/861197#Comment_861197

I think @thesuicidefox 's issue is that its on a team lvl instead of an individual one. Against other killers, you as an individual can counter their powers. Against Myers, If one of your teammates doesnt counter it, you could be the one paying for it.

    Exactly my point.

Along with the fact that just because you can counter play it doesn't make it healthy for the game. Prayer Beads has easy counters (which people constantly ignore or dismiss, despite one of those counters Spine Chill completely destroying this add-on). But that doesn't mean it should stay as it is. Tuft of Hair is the same thing.

  • @LordGlint said:

For those wondering, It takes 5 seconds to leave EW1, and then an additional 12 seconds to go from EW2 to EW3 using tuft of hair and J myers memorial. It takes the equivalent of 2 full survivors worth of stalk to do this.

Did this the other day without TOO much hassle, although a large part of that is due to a survivor being completely oblivious that I managed to fully stalk them at the very beginning of the match without them moving. Ive also been at the opposite end of the spectrum however and had teams make it take forever to even get out of EW1.

Exactly. It is POSSIBLE for it to be difficult, but that requires all 4 survivors to play smart. More often that will be far from the case. It's way more likely that you will get it earlier because SOMEONE fed you. And that is beyond the control of other survivors. If some random feeds you EW I get punished for it. How is that fair?

17 seconds of stalk is not at all that much if you focus on it. I really can't believe how people can say it takes so long. It really doesn't.

Maybe it's because one of those things is not actually that stupid. :P

They are both stupid. You can, in theory, counter play both. But the doesn't make one better than the other in terms of being a good experience. I'd rather play against Prayer Beads than infinite EW3.

    @johnmwarner said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/861031#Comment_861031

Infinite Myers is far from the most annoying thing killers have. Iri hatchets, one shot down clown bottles, heck even Myers himself has something stronger/stupider with scratch mirror builds.

So a killer with unlimited one shot is NOT as annoying as killer with comparably unlimited one shots? Okay...

I'll take Scratch Mirror Myers over infinite EW3 Myers any day also. SM is super easy to to beat and super easy to loop. Infinite EW3 is much harder to loop (map/tile dependent) and gives 0 room for error. You could mess up all day and still beat SM Myers in a chase.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/861031#Comment_861031

When he got chase perks you can still get to a pallet most times because 80% of the maps are pallet heavens. And if you play it smart you can stun him and get more distance on him. Please don't act like infinite EW3 would be a big deal. It's way worse than "Scream for Myers".

Again it's not about counter play. You can counter play Prayer Beads by playing smart. Does that make it any less stupid? Does that mean it should be in the game? No and no.

Infinite one shots, no matter how effective, is stupid. PERIOD.

And every time I see "Scream for Myers" it's most likely a infinite EW3 build too. So yea, that's even more stupid because then he just goes around and slugs everyone.

Gotta love how people can defend one stupid thing in the game and denounce another.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/861022#Comment_861022

And if you are in EW3? There are pallets. Case closed.

Yea and then when he's got Brutal Strength and PWYF, what are you gonna do? That's the build I see often with infinite EW3, specifically to counter the loops.

Also map dependent. If you get a pallet heaven map sure. If you get Hawkins or Badham 2-5, GG.

PS. And I'm not saying it's overpowered. You assume that is my argument it's not. My argument is the same argument against Prayer Beads. IT IS STUPID. Doesn't belong in the game. No one enjoys it but the killer using it.

  • Rank 1. Been rank 1 for 2 years. Killer and survivor. I don't play Myers much if at all, but I've use this add-on. It is NOT hard to get. The only time it is hard to get is against a 4 man SWF, but literally everything is hard against them. Even the most OP builds like old omega blink Nurse would be hard against that. Getting EW3 using Tuft of Hair is easy, I see it happen all the time against good survivors.

    @Marcus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/859845#Comment_859845

An add-on doesn't need a rework or nerf just because survivors are too dumb to counter it. Almost everytime when I saw a Myers playing in red or even purple ranks with Fragrant Tuft of Hair and J Myers Memorial, at least 3 gens still got done before he went into EW3. Not to mention, he is loopable in EW3, so you can still counter it even if your teammates mess up.

Could literally say the same thing about Prayer Beads. They are actually very easy to counter, just don't be stupid and blindly do a gen without being somewhat aware of her position on the map. And Spine Chill completely shuts down this add-on.

I'm willing to bet those Myers you faced weren't that good. We have some really good Myers players on Xbox because for some reason a lot of players love him. Again, you are only going to get 3 gens done before he gets infinite EW3 if you are in a 4 man SWF. If you are not, then chances are high he will get it sooner, and if he gets it sooner you are done.

I just love how people shame Prayer Beads but in the same breathe defend infinite one shots then justify it as being "hard at high ranks" which is literally true of anything especially if you are against an SWF. Like really people?

    @MegMain98 said:

@thesuicidefox I don’t like either one but I have never DC’ed against infinite Tier III Myers while I have definitely DC’ed against Prayer Beads. Every time I go against Prayer Beads the entire team kills themselves on the hook and DC’s.

Needless to say, it’s not enjoyable having zero idea when the killer is coming. If I get grabbed by Myers or Ghostface I know it’s my fault. With PB I just feel cheated.

Again Spine Chill. And no, it's not JUST for Prayer Beads, this is a meta-but-no-one-will-admit-that-perk that is useful against EVERY killer in EVERY game. I honestly can't even think of an instance where you won't find use from it.

Also again... just have some map awareness. If you know she has Prayer Beads and you are on a gen, either be sure she is chasing someone else or tap the gen. Or just be ready to let go the instant you see her. You CAN hear footsteps, so if you pay attention she shouldn't ever be able to grab you. It is as much your fault as Myers or GF, albeit harder to beat.

I don't DC against any killer. The only times I've DC'd are against infinite tombstone, and only then because the Myers would outright refuse to kill me, so I just sit in a locker and we stare at each other for 20 minutes. It actually has nothing to do with the build and everything to do with the killer dragging out the game for a stupid achievement.

  • The problem is the Deep Wounds timer. It's either worthless or exploitable.

In another thread we discussed some things and the better idea that came out of it was to just remove the timer. Instead Deep Wounds reduces repair speed for whatever the timer is and it's a normal status effect like everything else (though maybe it would have a special HUD element on the survivor icon to show killer when it is and isn't active).

Replace all Begrimed add-on effects with Deep Wounds for 120 seconds. Functionally they would be the same as before, only difference is the way the game handles the UI/status effect and the wording of the add-ons.

BT just gives an Endurance hit, identical to MOM. Only if you get hit, you have Deep Wounds for X time (whatever is reasonable, 60 seconds maybe?), and maybe also Hindered to put the survivor in more danger (and to add some risk to BT plays during end game).

Legion now becomes a slow down killer, similar to old Freddy. Filthy Blade increases the effectiveness of Deep Wounds by 50% (so if the penalty is 20% now it's 30%). Stab Wounds Study increase the duration of Deep Wounds. Hitting the survivor more than once resets the Deep Wounds timer, and Frank's Mix Tape makes the timer pause when in the killer's TR or if slugged/on a hook. Killer Instinct now applies to all survivors, even if they have Deep Wounds already. As a counter option, Calm Spirit hides you from Killer Instinct when more than X distance away from the killer (maybe 16m? not sure needs testing).

This is really the only way to fix this. As someone pointed out in another thread, Deep Wounds shouldn't be weaponized, and the whole timer aspect is pointless. The only survivors that go into dying are newbies that don't understand what to do. Against any experienced survivor, the timer is a literal joke. It doesn't slow you down and doesn't help the killer, unless the killer exploits Undetectable/Oblivious which is super lame to deal with as survivor anyway.

  • IMO blood orb auras shouldn't be seen by Oni except within very close range like 4m. It'd make it a bit harder to get his power (which by some accounts is overpowered) and would make it so you can actually lose him in a chase.

Then have his pink add-on extend the range greatly but survivors can also see blood orbs or whatever.

  • @Hoodied said:

PB needed it as you couldn't have any reaction time to it

Infinite EW3 is still here due to the fact that it takes forever to get

Not really. People over exaggerate how hard it is to get EW3 with this add-on. It's not that hard. Especially considering all it takes is 1 survivor to mess up and feed him and that's it. And since you have 0 control over the intelligence and skill of other survivors, you get punished for someone else's mistake. It's dumb.

This add-on does indeed need a rework. It's just lame. Prayer Beads are lame but if you play SWF, use Spine Chill, or are just extra cautious you can beat it. Doesn't matter what other survivors do either, it's 100% in your control. I'd rather play against current Prayer Bead Spirit than Infinite EW3 Myers any day.

  • Okay first there is a LOT of wrong information in this post:

    • I'm All Ears does NOT inflict Exposed. It is an aura perk though, so I don't understand why you didn't include it there.
    • Knock Out also does NOT inflict Exposed. It also is NOT an aura perk, it is an aura blocking perk.
    • You forgot to mention Deerstalker in the aura perks. My guess is you mixed this up with Knock Out?
    • Of the aura reading add-ons, the only viable ones are Black Incense and All Seeing Spirit.
    • Scratched Mirror is a gimmick that only works on 1 map (Lery's, maybe also Hawkins not sure) and severely nerfs Myers's ability to chase since he is a 105 killer that can't get Bloodlust. If you have Spine Chill and know how to loop on Lery's you can basically run from him forever.
    • Amanda's Letter is also somewhat of a gimmick, since it removes RBT's which kind of hurts her pressure game a lot. The range is rather pitiful and since she has to be crouched to use it she will be slow moving around the map. Unless she offers Lery's, Game, or Hawkins she will probably have a hard time both getting around quickly and doing it without being seen.
    • All the other aura add-ons you mention suck massively.
    • Hag and Doc aura add-ons (which you didn't mention) are decent but out classed by better add-ons.
    • Spies From The Shadows is a bad perk. First because most maps lack crows, and second because you can just track the crows yourself. It's only going to be viable on Lery's, because that map is filled with crows and you can't see them fly off from a distance.
    • Discordance is not necessarily an aura perk, since you don't see the survivors. If survivors know you have it, they can bait you to check a gen and waste time. Also if they want to hard counter it they will split up and do gens, which is a really bad thing; OR they will get you to chase them far away from a certain gen that 2 survivors are working on. You either waste time returning to the gen and lose the chase, or you continue the chase and the gen pops anyway. Sometimes it's a lose-lose situation, and you end up over committing to gen protection and never take chases.
    • Corrupt Purge is NOT a one shot ability. It might seem that way if you are Broken, but the reality is the moment you hear her take Corrupt Purge you should cleanse. If you don't that's your own fault.
    • Ebony Mori does not give you a one shot ability. Not sure why you say this either.
    • Trapper doesn't have a one shot. You step into a trap, that makes you injured. If he is nearby he can come and hit you into dying. So technically 2 hits. And Honing Stone only takes effect if you free yourself from the trap. If someone else does it, you will just be injured.

So yea, just based on this alone it's clear to me you don't quite understand what you are talking about. You say you play both sides, and that you find killer so easy but survivor so hard. That tells me you can't be high rank, because that's not at all the normal high rank experience.

As someone that DOES play at red ranks for both sides, I can tell you that every aura perk/add-on and every Exposed/one shot power can be countered or outplayed. I personally find it super easy to beat pretty much every aura perk, especially BBQ. Like it's so incredibly easy to dodge BBQ I don't even care if the killer sees me anymore. I just let them see me, and then hide. It's not hard. If you really want to hide, use a locker or be within 40m. Or hide behind a gen, that still works sometimes. Nurse's is easily beat by just not healing within the killer's TR. If it's a stealth killer I could see how it may be difficult, which is why you put yourself in a position to see them coming. Stand on the hill, or in an area where it would be IMPOSSIBLE to sneak up on you and heal. Problem solved. Spine Chill also helps a lot for this too, as you can now heal anywhere and if Spine Chill lights up, well that means the killer sees your aura with Nurse's. I already mentioned how to beat Discordance. Oh and in regards to anything that reveals location... Calm Spirit HARD counters all of these. Rancor, Iron Maiden, Infectious Fright, Spies. So if you find yourself up against these perks often (particularly Infectious because it is very strong) just run Calm Spirit. No limits and it is a surprisingly good perk with interesting bonuses (eg. you can track killer movement via crows, since you don't disturb them any crows going off around you are either the killer or another survivor).

Now for Exposed stuff, the only ones that are a REAL threat to you as survivor are Devour Hope and NOED, both of which are totem perks you can take out of the game. Haunted Grounds is easy to beat, just hide until it goes away (though if you are the unlucky one to be in a chase when it pops... oh well, do your best to run as long as you can). Iron Maiden lasts 15 seconds. I use this perk all the time on Huntress for fast reloads, I can literally count on 1 hand how many times I've got someone with the Exposed effect. It's primary purpose is to give you some extra tracking, counter locker jukes on BBQ, or strengthen your basement game (or in Huntress's case, reload faster). The only thing I would agree with you is kind of unfair is Myer's infinite EW3, but even then there are downsides to that add-on and ways around it. Pinky Finger can also be tough to play against, but most of the time the Clown will over commit to trying to hit you with a bottle which you can use to your advantage.

Honestly, you entire post just sounds to me like you need to get better at the game. I hate saying that because "git gud" is such a toxic thing to say, but that's what I see here. None of this stuff (besides infinite EW3, Pinky Finger, Infectious) are even in the slightest bit overpowered. Therefore, Distortion doesn't need to be made stronger. It's a solid perk as it is, but at the same time it's not necessary if you know how to counter play this stuff anyway. It's more useful in IDENTIFYING aura reads than it is at countering them. Wraith walks up and lose a token? All Seeing Spirit. Healing and lose a token? Nurse's Calling. Fast vault a window and lose a token? I'm All Ears. Trigger a Hag trap and lose a token? Willow add-ons. If you are using Distortion to actually hide from auras, sorry to say you are doing it wrong.

Just practice more and read about these perks/add-ons/powers so you have a better idea how they work. I bet you will find they aren't that big of a deal.

  • If they made it so you drop some orbs when hit into dying then they could remove the constant orbs dropped by No Mither.

No Mither also hard counters the powers of Plague and Legion. If it hard counters Oni by both denying him his power and removing his ability to slug, I think it's a fair trade-off considering you are always one shot.

In fact No Mither hard counters anti-heal builds and anything Exposed. If a killer runs Sloppy or NOED or Nurse's or MYC that is basically a wasted perk slot. Pair it with Resil and it can soft counter gen slower builds too, since you can just power through everything. Really the only hard counter to No Mither is Thana. It's the only perk that punishes you for No Mither.

I get why the devs did this. 4 survivors brave enough to run No Mither would deny Oni his power all together.

But it’s still strange that the blood orbs are produced by the injury rather than actual blood.

Yea but if you get Spirit, Nurse, or Huntress, that is a GG real fast. It is a huge risk and requires coordination to pull of since you will NEED to sabo for it to work. And usually, the teams that do this do it for memes because there is a very high probability they will all die unless they play perfectly.

I'm talking about when a killer is holding a survivour or when a killer is chasing a survivour and other teammates run in front of you so you can't hit them

    Yea that's... not reportable dude.

It's called protection. If a survivor does this while you are carrying another survivor, depending on how far you are from the hook, the best counter tends to be just drop the survivor. Slugging is as effective as hooking in terms of slowing the game, and if you had picked up the survivor right away there is no way they could have recovered. They will be on the ground for at least 20 seconds or more depending on how aggressive the other survivors are at healing them. And if you have 2 or 3 survivors trying to protect this person, that means 0 of them are doing gens. Just hit one, go back, hit another that tried to heal, go back, hit the third. Yea the guy might get up off the ground but now all 4 of them are injured, which is a better position to be in anyway.

And if it's a situation where you could just hit the guy and make the hook then... hit the guy and make the hook.

You're mad that survivors are playing tactically and taking hits for each other. That's literally part of playing survivor, protecting other survivors that are closer to death.

Play some survivor and you will see it's not that big of a deal. There are so many counter play options in almost every situation.

  • @Carlosylu said:

Ahm, purple to red ranks every month... XBOX...

Body blocking is not an issue... I'm gonna guess one out of four situations is what is messing with you:

1° As survivor, the killer traps you in a corner (probably a "one hit downed" killer). How did you get there in the first place? What desicions did you take to put yourself in that possition? Your fault not his...

2° As killer, you're trying to desperatelly get a kill at the end game by following an injured survivor whyle another one gets in your way and they all managed to escape because of it... If this is the case... Then yes... @brokedownpalace is right... you need to get good... If you killed the survivors there would be no one to body block the other survivors right?

3° As survivor your teammate(s) body blocked you (sand bagging) and you got killed. Play SWF or just deal with it, it happens a lot in solo, part of the difficulty of playing alone.

4° As killer, the survivors block your way to the hook and if this is actually something that gets on your nerves either use Mad Grit, Agitation and/or Iron grasp to solve it.

"1° As survivor, the killer traps you in a corner (probably a "one hit downed" killer). How did you get there in the first place? What desicions did you take to put yourself in that possition? Your fault not his..."

If I'm Billy I will sit and nod at the survivor for about 10 seconds so that the reality can set in of how stupid of a decision it was to hide in a corner against a one shot killer. Then I chainsaw them. LOL

What is listed as reportable is keeping someone hostage in a corner for example, bodyblocking to tank a hit is not an issue, it's not cheating, but it's part of the game.

You guys should consider revising the terminology.

Body blocking to hold hostage should have a different name, this way people don't misconstrue this rule. Call it "soft locking" because you are locking the survivor in place with no way to move even though the game continues to function (also the term exists in other games with basically a similar meaning). This way if you say body block you say it as a legit tactical means to an end. Where soft locking is an exploit that can be reported.

  • I can consistently hit great skill checks more than 90% of the time. It's to the point where I do it during heals or when there is no Ruin. I don't even need to think about it anymore.

I have a clip saved on my PC of me finishing a gen with Ruin active in 88 seconds. I hit 5 greats and missed 2. Honestly one should have been a great but I feel like the game robbed my by a pixel 😡

And I know a lot of rank 1 survivors on Xbox that can do the same thing. It's part of the reason Xbox killers are moving away from Ruin and instead using Pop, Thana/Sloppy, and Dying Light because they do a better job of slowing gens. Like WAY better job. Ruin is almost a wasted perk slot now. This not even considering the fact we all know where every totem spawn is on every map and it will go down in 30 seconds or less most games.

I'd like to think part of the reason Xbox players are so good at skill checks is because of Gears of War. DBD skill checks are basically a circular version of active reloads, and I see a LOT of players with Gears related names or gamerpics (or even players I recognize from playing Gears).

"Feng and Rin Fused together... I guess that would make me Fing!"

"I'm neither Rin nor Feng... i'm Ren! It's over Survivor, I've come for YOU!"

    Couldn't help myself... (sorry.)

    Now I'm wondering...

Since Spirit is so powerful, does that mean the fusion wouldn't last the full 30 minutes?

    🤔

Well, stealth almost counters every killer, but perks like Whispers counters stealth strongly, so in the end you are only save within a locker...but those damn crows! 😉

Stealth doesn't actually counter every killer equally.

Slow killers, like Nurse, Spirit, and Huntress (less Hag but I'll get into that) are more countered by stealth than normal speed killers like Billy. If you hide in an area, a Billy can more thoroughly search the area in the same time frame because of his faster movement. He also isn't as susceptible to stealth jukes where you may be hiding on the other side of a window and slow vault as he passes around the corner. Or even that you walk around some LOS blocker as he searches. He is more likely to see you making these jukes because he is faster. By contrast Spirit (who people have such a problem with apparently) can be more easily stealth juked because it's much easier to walk around a LOS blocker or slow vault a window without her seeing it. Nurse is the MOST effected by stealth, which is why the meta builds on her revolve around tracking perks.

And Whispers is anti-stealth yes, but not infallible. If you have a survivor hooked or slugged nearby it's not going to help. It will give you an idea where to look, or let you know that you're not chasing your own tail sometimes, but it won't actually help you find the survivor faster if they know how to stay on the move and break LOS. Again, normal speed killers can take full advantage of Whispers due to their ability to search an area faster. But slow killers can still be stealth juked, and in some cases Whispers can cause a killer to was a ton of time looking for you.

Now Hag is a bit of an exception because she can place traps in spots where she searched and unless you have Urban Evasion it will be hard to stealth juke her without settting off the trap. Still same rules apply, she just has an option to counter stealth no other slow killers have.

Also Doctor is completely anti-stealth. Unless you have Calm Spirit and Distortion (to avoid aura read add-ons) he can still find you. And even then, his illusion Docs can reveal your position. Granted Doc isn't a top tier killer, but he does make stealth pretty much impossible. Unless you want to hide lockers all game at which point you are doing a whole lot of nothing to progress your escape.

This is why it bugs me when people say "stealth isn't a real counter". It is. If you bait a killer to search for you and waste time, that's as good as wasting time in a chase. If they are checking some jungle gym tile and you walk away without being seen, then they are just looking for nothing. As a Spirit main I can confirm that the majority of times when I lose a game it's because of strong stealth players. The rest of the times is because of survivors that actually know what to do in a chase against Spirit, but those are honestly rare. But I mean, you can't get chased and die if you never get found. And I've won games myself as survivor purely from strong stealth plays. It is indeed a valid counter and anyone that says otherwise honestly, probably just sucks at doing it. Like I can't tell you how often I find survivors, usually a p3 Claud, just hiding in a corner or a bush thinking I'm blind. That's not stealth play. That's hoping the killer is too blind and/or too stupid to think you might be hiding there. I also don't consider locker usage to be proper stealth play since you are immobile. All it takes is for the killer to have a "hunch" you are in a locker, at which point you are screwed. If you exit the locker at this point, you will be seen or heard almost definitely. Locker stealth should be used sparingly. I personally only use it if I have to pee mid-game or feed my cat or something.

So if stealth is a valid counter to wait out a power (which is is for Myers and Plague) then it should be a valid counter to Oni as well (assuming it works as well, if it doesn't that's a different story).

All that said, I don't have the PTB I can't play as or against this killer therefore I can't really form an opinion about what kind of counters he has. Maybe he needs some nerfs to make him better to play against, but again I don't know. Have to play it myself to find out. Can't rely on testimony of anyone, especially after only 3 days, and videos don't really paint a great image since the PTB is all mixed ranks and I'm not the one in control.

One last thing... I see a lot of parroting in this thread. I know Scott and Tofu just put out videos about this, but you are literally just repeating what they said. Maybe that adds credence to their claims, but it's hard to read through this thread without thinking to myself "this guy has absolutely 0 opinions of his own and just repeats things he heard another player say". Sorry but that's how it comes off, maybe you are genuine... but dude it's like the EXACT wording Scott used in his video. Like... c'mon.

  • Adren isn't a real exhaustion perk since it triggers only once and the real reason to use it is for the insta-heal effect. I also don't really consider Head On an exhaustion perk, hence why neither are on my lists. The reason to use it is different than the other perks. You use exhaustion perks to extend a chase. You use Head On to interrupt the killer's flow or make saves with lockers.

    Before next update...

    • Balanced Landing/Dead Hard (tie)
    • Lithe
    • Sprint Burst

    After next update...

    • Dead Hard
    • Lithe
    • Sprint Burst
    • Balanced Landing

Technically the worst (current) exhaustion perk is Sprint Burst because you are required to either always walk, or always run with exhaustion at 99% recovered. Both of which are bad plays.

But after the next update, Balanced will be the worst because it's already too map/tile dependent and now it's just pointless to go for a single drop. The whole strength in Balanced was in the ability to open a new loop with drop down points, which was limited. Most of the super strong drop loops are still strong without Balanced, and the fact the devs decided to nerf the PERK instead of addressing these tiles is troubling. Fix those tiles instead, don't nerf a good perk.

  • Against Ruin, just do the gen. It may take you longer but as long as you don't fail skill checks it's not going to slow you that much. And once you get better at the game, you can consistently hit great skill checks at which point Ruin doesn't even slow you down at all.

BBQ is easy to beat. It lasts 4 seconds, which is 1 second less than the bubble created from the hook. So when you see someone get hooked you can:

    1) Hide in a locker until the bubble goes away (you should be in the locker BEFORE the hook though, do it when you see they guy get picked up).

    2) Run in some direction, then when the bubble goes away walk in another direction.

    3) Position yourself on the other side of a gen. Gen auras can block your aura but how much depends on the angle.

    4) Be within 40m of the hook. If you can hear the heartbeat, that's 32m for most killers. After some more experience you will be able to know how far 40m is.

A lot of killers use these perks but they aren't really that powerful. Red rank survivors consistently beat these perks. And they aren't even going to nerf them because of how easy they are to counter. It may seem oppressive at first, but with more practice you will see they aren't really that big of a problem.

    Well, for some survivors.

Can hear some survivors like Jeff a mile away, even without Stridor, lol.

Yea true. Jeff, Jane, Bill, Ash. They are all loud AF. But then some like Claud or Ace are actually harder to hear.

Jeff OMG Jeff. He is so damn loud LOL

  • If you are at red ranks on Xbox, I bet I could name the person in 5 guesses.

We have some players that do this. I know I am on several hit lists, and those players go for me and me only first, then tunnel me off hook and mori.

And no this isn't a case of "they do it to everyone". I know for a fact they are doing it to grief me. Although they do it to a lot of people, I'm not the ONLY one, but I've been explicitly told by these players they will hunt me down and mori spam me.

Record the gameplay however you can. File a report to BHVR at https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us with the evidence. You may need several games worth of video to prove your case (though if you can get pictures of messages/chat where they might incriminate themselves that helps, it did in my case). MAKE SURE TO REPORT THEM IN GAME or else nothing will be done. I've gotten several of these players 24-72 hour bans for doing this. Pretty sure at least one just dodges me now anytime I show up in their lobby.

I actually did some testing earlier (for a totally different reason) and the only things that any perk does that effects volume is literally just the volume of which the sound is played. The range seems to be around 16 meters from when the physical game client will actually start playing the audio of a survivor whimpering, regardless of how quiet or how loud it is.

Which... disappointed me, to be honest.

Well in practice it's 8m. Like yea technically you could hear them at 16m but it's going to be so incredibly quiet that unless the game is dead silent you won't hear them. 8m is when you start to reliably hear them over other noises.

  • Stridor 3 turns Iron Will 3 into Iron Will 1/No Mither 3. Look at it that way.

Iron Will 1 means the killer has to be within 8m to hear you and even then it will be faint. So having Iron Will against Stridor WILL help, it just won't help if the killer is very close to you. By contrast, if you didn't have Iron Will 3 and the killer has Stridor 3 they can hear you loud and clear from at least 20m.

And the effects of Stridor are universal and not specific to the killer. If you are using Iron Will 3 and notice that you can hear yourself cry in pain, that means the killer has Stridor 3 (or Stridor 2 since they are effectively the same against injured survivors).

If you use both Iron Will 3 and No Mither 3 you can completely counter Stridor 3. You will make 0 noises.

I'd assume the Hag and Wraith are African but it's just an assumption based on their skins and backstories

Wraith most likely. Hag I don't think so. She looks that way because she's all rotted and stuff, not because of her ancestry.

The Huntress would actually be in Russia. Fun fact: The song she's humming is called "Bayushki Bayu", a Russian lullaby that her mother used to sing to her.

As far as time goes though, I would assume sometime before daylight, otherwise everyone would be dead.

And that lullaby is from Russian folklore. Mother's sing it to children to warn them not to sleep to close to the edge of the bed or a wolf will get them and take them away.
