If you ever start getting them, you will realize that it's just as unfun as getting pros. The best games are those where skills are similar and the outcome is unknown. I always drag out the matches to maximize BP when I realize that I got potatos, but many other killers finish match as soon as they can and that is super unfun for survivors.

Same. I'm about to give up on solo q. It's never been that bad. Even if it's not me being camped, I have 0 fun in those games. Just M1 on gens and leave. Feel like I'm just wasting time.

Indeed, but that's still working as a built-in slow down.
But that slowdown is at least 4 times less effective, possibly more. If they spread out on gens, 1 person will always be closest and will let others know that.

I just really hope escaping is not a factor because I played 6 matches today, all after SBMM launched, with all 6 having a very clear pattern. My teammates do corner gens first, getting dangerously close to the last 4 gens being in close proximity and then everybody is too scared to work injured or/and waste too much time for that scenario. My teammates have been mostly unexperienced, getting downed very early or making little use of pallets, therefore wasting resources rapidly and at an early stage, which only reinforces the scenario previously mentioned. It's a huge pain to go through these matches first, but at least it's understandable, but if I have to escape these matches too, the game is just not designed to allow me to do that. I cannot even try for hatch because killers slug to ensure all 4 kills and while I do have the option to pick-up my teammate or do the last generator, that's mostly on paper. It doesn't really work in an actual game (at least not to create a comeback, definitely not against what is supposed to be a fair adversary).
My survivor games today were exactly like yours. I even had 2 other survs trying to do same gen as me at the start of the game. People with no game sense are quickly tunneled out and then it's game over.
Then I played killer and realized what's going on. Couple weak links paired with strong survs. I ended every match with 4k as long as I identified weak links quickly and concentrated on them first. It's not even funny how predictable that pattern is.

Have you ever versed a good Twins player? Twins is 100% A tier. Demo is nothing compared to them. They have some of the biggest snowball potential in the game, similar to Nurse in that if everyone is injured it's very easy to slug all 4 survivors. Victor is very powerful if you use him correctly. I also think you shouldn't underestimate the power of being able to control 2 parts of the map at once.
Victors power is to camp.

I'd honestly be curious to hear a mod weigh in on this. Intentionally doing NOTHING, just wandering around the map and hiding the whole time and crap like that should be - and I believe is - against the rules, if it can be proven. But there are times when, due to a challenge or simply my desire to be a support player for the match in question - I'll roam around and look for totems, go for unhooks, try to distract the killer, etc., and let the others worry about the gens.
I think it basically comes down to whether or not you know for a fact that the other players in the match are literally contributing absolutely nothing and just roaming around avoiding getting anything done. I don't know why anyone would bother to do that as opposed to just going AFK, which is also against the rules, but I've never done it so I can't say.
I've done nothing entire match but walked around the map looking for yellow glyph. That's because I failed the skill checks 3 times and had to find a new glyph every time. If walking around the map and not doing gens would be against the rules, there wouldn't be challenges that require walking around the map and not doing gens.
There are also challenges like doing 20 totems, so I would walk around the map and until I find all 5.
I like to do my challenges as fast as possible.
Edit: just wanted to add that there would not be any proof that they didn't spend that time doing challenges, for obvious reasons. So, for as long as challenges exist, there is plausible deniability.

3 or 5 gens does matter .
When you hold a smart 3 gen the survivors can't break I can understand giving up (it would still be holding the game hostage if they hadn't just let you kill them).
At 5 gens they haven't even attempted to do a gen in the easiest time to do a gen, which is both griefing and holding the game hostage.
A killers job is to kill all 4 survivors. Or as many as possible. a survivors job is to escape with as many people as is possible. A survivor not attempting to escape is holding the game hostage. A killer not attempting to kill the survivors (holding them there indefinitely) is holding the game hostage.
Neither the survivors nor the killer should Be able to hold the other side indefinitely forcing a DC.
The stick has two ends. If killer doesn't do his job, than he is guilty of the same.
That's what those people say who complain about "game hostage". My opinion is that there is no hostage in either case.
If devs didn't want the "hostage" situation, they would add a timer, just like EGC. I mean, I haven't played any other multiplayer games besides DBD where devs didn't put a match limit timer. If they didn't want it, there is no excuse for company of this size not to add a simple countdown timer.

Or because you didn't put enough effort into searching. The stick has two ends.
I also have anecdotal evidence: I've never spent more than 15 minutes searching in my 2 years of playing DBD.
OMG, people these days are expecting everything delivered to them and start complaining as soon as they have to put any effort.

Again, in the instances described they were at 5 gens and no one was touching one. At a 3 gen they can't do much. But not touching a gen at the start (as was the conversation based around) is holding the game hostage.
You had a 3 gen (something survivors can avoid) and also played nurse (arguably the highest mobility killer).
Your objective is to stop them from escaping and eventually kill them. If you had chosen to chase a good survivor then you could've lost. You played smart there with a hit and run strat.
3 gens or 5 gens don't matter. Smart or not strategy also don't matter. The allegation were the same: held the game hostage and not doing objective. It all depends on who you think is responsible for making a move and what takes priority.
Is killer suppose to defend gens or chase?
Is survivor suppose to do gens or avoid killer?
In my mind each one choses his own priority and there shouldn't be a prescribed way.

The killer can't be at every gen all the time:
If the killer stays on one gen do the others, if he goes to a different gen then do the gen he left. Or take the heat and start a chase with the killer so the others can do gens safely.
The OP and the person you replied to are talking about all survivors being split up and not touching gens. The killer can't be everywhere at once. Not asking you to run straight to the killer, but just go to a different gen. Don't sit there when the killer had made it clear he isn't moving. And saying :but what if he goes to the next gen? Is disingenuous. If you've been waiting around then the killer isn't going to follow you if you wait 1 min by a gen then leave. It's improbable this happens if your stealthing.
Refusing to do the objective, and the immersing and all survivors not progressing the game is both griefing (as there is going to be moments where you can touch gens) but also holding the game hostage. Devs have said this. Streamers of both sides have said this. This isn't a bias issue, nor a killer Vs survivor issue. Stop being childish and trying to make it into one.
Yes, killer can be at every gen all the time. I had a game as a Nurse where 3 gens were all within 1 blink distance and 3 people remining. I was just standing in the middle and doing a single blink and hit whenever someone would touch a gen and then immediately blink back to the middle. After about 10 minutes of trying all kinds of distractions, they gave up and let me kill them.
In chat, they claimed that I refused to do objective and chase them. I replied that they refused to do objective and do gens. I only said it to shut them up, but I don't honestly believe that there is or should be a prescribed way to play and I don't care who said otherwise. The only rules are those specified in EULA that you are supposed to agree to before purchasing the game:

So officially, win via forfeit is a thing. Works for me. ;)
You are confusing an entertainment product, such as a video game, with a sport. You are trying to apply unrelated definition made for apples to oranges. It's not even an esport and devs routinely reminded about this when asked if they want to make official competitions. But if you want to be that guy in the MEME I posted above, than by all means... whatever makes you happy.

"Imagine you played soccer and your opponent decided to leave and then you kicked into empty gates and then congratulated yourself with a win."
The phrase you're looking for is "win via forfeit."
That's in official competitions. In real ordinary life, if people decide that you are not worthy of their time and walk away from you, than you lost.
We all have occasional games when there is an AFK survivor. Do you count it as winning a chase when you find and hook that person? I don't. Because to me winning is outplaying opponent. This is all just a matter of opinion. There is nothing I or you can say to "prove" that one opinion is "righter" than the other.

They didn't win, though. The Killer effectively got 2k, which isn't a win for Survivors.
They did win though because no sane person would count kills after your opponent got bored and decided to leave.
Imagine you played soccer and your opponent decided to leave and then you kicked into empty gates and then congratulated yourself with a win.
-
I'm bored because of stale meta. And the devs are either too chicken or too lazy to change it. No innovation.
-
You gave up. Since you refused to chase, they had a choice of waste time M1 on gens or waste time with DC penalty. I don't know which one is more boring. They won either way. You can take the loss as a Man and continue chasing and maybe learning something from their moves. Or... You can camp like a sore. Whatever floats your boat.
Whenever I see a camper, I just stop playing and Alt-Tab to youtube or twitch. If you are so desperate for a "win", have it. I'm not wasting my time on you if the match has 0 (ZERO) entertainment value.

Every game the killers have camped and tunneled. Literally every game. I'm not even exaggerating. I've never seen it this bad.
I would have thought that if I'm dying in every single game then I'd get an easier game every few matches at least.
My teammates are the worst. Crouching in corners. Hiding next to me behind a tree while I work on a gen (not even with SC or a medkit).
This is unplayable for me. Even if I loop for 5 mins only one gen pops and its a wipe regardless.
I got same today. Solo Q. Played 3 matches: every single one camping and tunneling from the start. My Kindred was on almost all the time. Tried 4th one and DCed as soon as I saw that Bubba started proxy camping.
BHVR says CaMpInG iS jUsT a StRaTeGy. Okay, bye. I'll go play other games where it's not a valid strategy or when this crap matchmaking is disabled.

Yes that's my point, it's very easy to tell the real red ranks and the booster ones, that's why ranks are hidden now to spare feelings, that was cute what you tried to do there though.
I said I could guess the ranks that were displayed by the game fairly precisely. Again, if you can't tell rank 15 from rank 5, that's on you. It will be easier with experience.

Yes because they don't want to hurt boosted red ranks feelings when they realize they perform on average at the same level as rank 12s but have simply put more hours into the game that month.
If can guess what rank color each survivor with 90% success when playing as killer. Perhaps you need to gain more experience if you can't tell the difference between rank 5 and 15. I also had troubles with that when I just started.

I get your point and your not wrong, but it is still result of the player doing it. You could argue that it is actually bt that is encouraging it cause if it wasn't for bt he couldn't farm someone and get credit for wglf. In fact, without bt he would have to play the game without trolling his teammates, even if he did not help do gens, in order to get his stacks.
If we had a button to hold that prevents us from being unhooked, that would stop a lot of trolls like that. There would have to be a visual indicator to show that we don't want to be rescued at the moment.
And if we had another perk that would double gen and totem BP, those people that want to farm could have another way to do it without being toxic.
-
@truegod_10 said:

This sounds like an issue with just 1 #########. It is probably also worsened by the bloodhunt since they get their points doubled again by that.
Also, killers get bp way easier. If they wanted to max bp they could play a killer like that gets easy deviousness points and run bbq with a cake. You can get an insane amount each game. If they really wanted bp they were being super inefficient.
Probably just wanted to upset you and his other teammates by trolling, so you are kinda giving him what he wants with this post.
He explained that he likes to play survivor and this allows him to maximize his points. It's true that you can make more with killer, but not everyone wants to play one. Also, morning queues for killer are atrocious in my region. If you consider waiting time, he is still probably ahead in terms of BP per hour.
I'm not upset at individuals who do that. I'm upset at BHVR for encouraging farming with WGLF as opposed to doing gens.

This is just a 'clever' response thread to the one about killers that's exactly the same.
The fact is true, however. By demonizing the 'other side,' which is really just other players, there is a percentage of the community that will drive away players. That certainly comes from both sides. It's just easier as killer because it's just one person rather than four.
Yes, it's "clever" because it's just a click bait. The title says "survivor" community, but the body says "SWF". Should have wrote SWF in the title.

And if you take away Killer player's choice in how they play, or force mechanics on them that could cost them a full kill or the game; you can see Survivor queue times start to climb as Killers quit.
No one wants to play a game where the game takes away your choice, then makes you lose for it. Hence why there are no 'punishments' or 'fixes' for camping/tunneling/slugging; anything put in place would either be abused (See; old anti-camping mechanic), or remove player agency.
And no; DS should not be base kit. Hell freaking no do I want a new 4 perk meta plus DS in every match. That would be so broken it's not funny.
And guess why Kindred is not base kit? Because it would 100% negate Insidious. You can't make a perk basekit that hard counters another perk.
Just because Survivors have this idea in their head that they get to choose how Killers play, does not mean they actually get to choose how Killers play. They don't pick Killer perks, Killers, or tactics. Any more than Killers pick Survivor perks or tactics.
This is the only game, in my nearly 40 years of gaming, where I've ever seen one side so utterly convinced that they can dictate the actions of their opponent, and demanded it from the devs.
Look, you can imagine in your head as much as you want that there is a global conspiracy of survivors trying to take away your agency... But the reality is that not punishing toxic mechanic results is less people playing survivor and the queues will continue getting longer and longer for killers. Either promote non-toxic gameplay or get stuck with long queues. Your choice. I don't care either way because Battlefield 2142 is just a few months away and I'm dumping this toxic community.
"And guess why Kindred is not base kit? Because it would 100% negate Insidious." - It doesn't counter Insidious 100%. You can still use it just not next to the hook.
"No one wants to play a game where the game takes away your choice, then makes you lose for it." - Exactly, Bubba camping hook with Insidious is taking away choice from survivors. All they can do at this point is M1 on gens. And the player being camped is guaranteed to lose. Where is the choice here? Or are you saying it's only okay to take choice from survivors, but not killers?
-
I get the same in almost every game in purple ranks. Camping and tunneling non stop. I stopped bringing cakes because it's just a waste at this point. Long killer queues are a good indicator where this game is headed. If camping as a minimum is not addressed killer queues are going to go into half an hour territory. There is no reason DS and Kindred shouldn't be base kit. And I'm saying it as killer main who switched to survivor due to wanting to play instead of waiting for lobby.

What 'most people believe' does not matter. If we went with what 'most people believe' then Killers would never get a kill, because 'most people believe' Killers winning is toxic and unfun and every other buzzword Survivor mains can invent.
Back in the day, there was a time where 'most people believed' Bastion in Overwatch was 'broken' and 'unfun' and 'OP' and 'toxic' and should be removed. Does that mean he should have been removed?
Also; Survivors living is not their goal. Survivors just living is not a win state. And before EGC, Survivors hiding was a large problem where they would go full Immersive and force the Killer to quit the match. So Survivors can blame other Survivors for ruining that.
See, I took the logic out further, instead of ignoring it. Survivors hiding is not how they win; doing gens is how they win. Hiding does not complete gens.
Whereas Killers camping is how they win, because that means Survivors die. Camping kills Survivors.
Sorry; try again.
If what 'most people believe' doesn't matter, than surely it doesn't matter what a single person believes. I can just dismiss your comment because it doesn't matter what you believe.
Or do you feel what you believe is somehow more important than what most people believe?
try again.

Umm...The Survivor 'tactic' was nerfed because they were not doing their goal and were taking the game hostage (pre-endgame collapse).
Camping actually promotes the Killer's goal of killing Survivors.
If you can't see how these two are different:
Survivors Hiding = Not Doing Their Job (Which is doing gens).
Killers Camping = Doing Their Job (Of Killing).
Then you lack an understanding of basic game mechanics. No offense.
It doesn't matter whether face camping promotes killer goal or not. Most people on this forum believe it's toxic. Ask around if you don't believe me. Gameplay that is considered toxic should be discouraged. It's that simple.
Also, if you are going to be pedantic and talk about semantics, read this on main page:
"As a Killer, your goal is to sacrifice as many Survivors as possible. As a Survivor, your goal is to escape and avoid being caught and killed."
So, survivors hiding is doing their job: avoid getting caught
But you chose to ignore that part because it doesn't fit your narrative.

Killer crows would be a bandaid though, Really they should give solos a ping style system similar to what Scott Jund mentioned a while back. Where you ping like: "I'm on a generator", "I found a hex", "I'm going for the save", "The killer is near the hook"
True. That would be better. But developing completely new system is something that is... well... could be expected from another developer... but we are talking ab out BHVR here. On the other hand, they already have crow system in place. Just need to enable it for killer.
