  • Both killer and survivor queue is not working atm.

  • Yes, when we were young, we were playing uphill both ways. That's what made us good.

  • @Woodywool said:

I just realized that I had games like when we're testing MMR system a week ago. My queue time is the same like in MMR test (usually, I have pretty fast queue for killers at night but now for some killers it takes around 3-5 mins).

I wouldn't say that is bad but it feels like this thing is working without announcement by devs.

Do u have the same feeling that I do?

I have same feeling. My matchmaking feels longer on both sides and changes with killers.

because I just got paired with the most ######### teamates. I run the killer around the map 2 times and a half and they only get one gen done

    Ok. Thanks. Good to know.

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

I can definetely confirm it is not on

How can you definitely confirm that?

  • Entitled survivor is the one that expect killer to play by unwritten rule book. You are entitled if you feel that "Pig that tunneled, camps and slug me to death, with one gen done only" is somehow against some imaginary rules and killer owes you an explanation.

"The guy was probably a sad teen in need of attention" and also "Without salt". That's funny. You can't even ask the question on the forums without salt. I'm pressing F5 here to express doubt that you weren't full of salt in that post match chat. Makes me wonder who is really the sad teen in need of attention.

The mmr is good it's the way we're judged hooks vs kills hooks are the standard not kills if he's not 9 hooking it treats him like a noob I'd bet.

What?! It's rare when anyone 12 hooks in Rank 1 games. That's just not feasible. High ranks know how to prioritize targets.

That's fair tbh. I'm a few games in on Doc and the fluctuation in skill each match isn't very fun. Either its braindead easy and boring or I get a 4 man with a map offering for some map no one in their right mind thinks is fair and fun.

I say a lot that I prefer facing a good team to a bad team, but there's a difference between a good team with maybe 2-3 swf players and a good random and a 4 man, all meta build toolbox squad almost every other game.

That's where the needle tips from "relatively well balanced match" to "ok now this is just stupid".

I do think that if they go through with this MMR it may kill the game. There's already not enough killers during peak hours and too many survivors. What's their goal here?

I'm actually surprised player count didn't go down since the start of the test. Maybe matchmaking works better for causal players? Or maybe people don't mind "stomp or be stomped"? I don't know. I can't explain this.

I'd rather have a game that tests my skill then one where I can zone out listening to a twitch stream and still easily 4K.

Agree. I was just watching ZubatLEL and he continuously got matched either with absolutely noob teammates who'd go down in 5 seconds, or the killer would get 2 hooks in entire match. It's like a roulette. So he said eventually that he doesn't feel like playing until MMR is off and ended his stream.

I was comfortably chilling at green between 12 and 10 and the rank reset mess up from a month or two back set me down to 20 surprisingly. So rank 20 might not be a 100% indicator but 80-90% which isn't an argument that the guy wasn't new.

That's why I said "look at his perks", which you ignored and proceeded to make a cool story about reset to 20 from 10-12.

  • @gendoss said:

I've had brown rank teammates that played way better than most rank 1s. The point of MMR is that the colored ranks don't mean anything, and it's proving it's point.

    Cool story bro :)

  • @Mooks said:

It was specifically stated that ranks will not be used for matchmaking while MMR matchmaking is active.

just seeing the ranks doesn’t tell us anything about the match or the players. Even a rank 20 can have experience in the game. Even a rank 1 can be pretty bad and on noob-level (I would know, since I am red rank but pretty damn bad)

So you are saying that rank 20 can have experience to stand up to rank 1? Haha, good one! Crack me another one!

One of the rank 20 said he just got the game. He had 1 perk.

  • @Avignon said:

Hmmm anecdotally speaking i THINK what's happening is the MMR system is weighting SWF way WAY to high. All my stompy games have ironically been vs rainbow rank SWF teams. The games i get solo Red Ranks are pretty sweaty.

You might be onto something here. That might explain what i saw today.

  • @gendoss said:

Why were you rank 20 tho? I thought rank reset only took you back to 18 or something like that. Are you literally a brand new killer?

Yes, look at his perks. He is brand new.

What are they supposed to do? Match 7k players with other 7k players? You would be spending weeks in the lobby

No, according to your logic, there are no players between 100 hours and 7000 hours, so they should match him with 100 hour players. After all there are only 2 choices: 100 and 7000, right? Is that what you are saying? But nice try with False Dilemma logical fallacy:

  • Yeah. I'm dominating new players with Trickster today. LMAO. Feels bad. I'm even taking time to down everyone with blades only. I wouldn't even dream of getting 4k with him every match with the old matchmaking. Feels bad for all those new players... Well, at least Trickster is getting some use now. Before, I was calling him Depipster.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/256013/mmr-vs-otzdarva

And this is why I'm not playing killer while its active. Last few times I played one killer exclusively for one week and this was literally every match.

Stomping noobs isn't fun. I had more fair games on average WITHOUT mmr.

You are a noble man. Unfortunately, that's rare in this game.

  • This is how my games go today. Feels bad.

Almost as if the large majority of people, especially killer players, play this game casually and for people like Otz, the match making system has to expand the range of people they can be matched against so they don't have too long queue times. During the last MMR test, streamers and high rank players had super long queue times and were only getting matched with the sweatest of tryhards.

My guess is Behaviour made the match making less strict to avoid that again.

It's almost as if you don't have stats to know how people play and how new system works and it's almost like you made everything up to fit your narrative.

MMR supposed to be an improvement over the old system. That's a fact. So far anecdotal evidence shows that it's worse than the old system.

  • I feel like BHVR will sing Still Alive song about test results:

    This was a triumph.

    I'm making a note here:

    HUGE SUCCESS.

    It's hard to overstate

    My satisfaction.

    BHVR

    We do what we must

    Because we can.

For the good of all of us.

    Except the ones who uninstalled.

    But there's no sense crying

    Over every mistake.

    You just keep on trying

Till you run out of people who still play.

    And the Science gets done.

    And you make matchmaking work.

    For the people who are

    Still play.

I mean, MMR did just get reenabled? I imagine that everybody probably has the same MMR right now and are being matched up accordingly, hence the huge skew in experience.

his mmr was probably ignored in favour of only using the one from his red rank friend since they are a 4man swf

They specifically said that ranks are not used for matchmaking during test, so it doesn't matter what ranks are his friends.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    Is MMR even collecting data?

https://youtu.be/NzHy5XRKwMA Otz had a 50 win streak with Ghost already, on the time MMR was supposedly collecting data. Why is he being matched with people like this?

Maybe the test is to see how much BS people can put up with before they uninstall?

  • LOL, this is getting beyond funny. He just played against someone who started a few weeks ago. Look at the post match chat.

What's that good information? That 7k player will dominate 100 hour survivors? WOW! Big insight there!

  • @Noz said:

It is almost as if it is a test to collect data and that nobody claimed that this system was intended to work for this test.

It's almost as if the test failed.

  • Update: Just played first MMR killer match and got yellow "rank don't matter" survivors that just throw pallets as soon as they get to them and never look back... I'm rank 1 killer and the predictable results were... predictable. So much for improvement matchmaking.

  • My experience is similar. Played a few survivor games. Got matched with people that are 10 ranks lower and are allergic to gens. I just kms on first hook when I see everyone crawling in bushes.

Ranks don't matter they say... Why are low ranks just bushwacking instead of doing gens? Is that also not matter?

  • @glitchboi said:

Not toxic, but unless it's a scenario where the killer absolutely HAS to do that, it seems unnecessary, boring, and I'm not sure how anyone could even have fun doing it. It's certainly unfun for both sides.

It could be very fun for killer. I did that a few times with Nurse. I just wanted to practice blinks and not worry about anything else. So, don't be so certain that it's unfun for both sides.

There is no "reporting for bypassing the filter". You just made it up.

Especially considering how many times swearing comes up just in things like perks/add-ons/items/offerings and Ash's dialogue... I'm not sure they should have implemented it unless it was to keep people from bullying each other. Even then it doesn't work because it doesn't seem to do that either.

Yep, agree. It's total failure as a bullying filter. It's more like a kiddy filter in M rated game. Not sure what the point of that is.

  • It doesn't. It's trivially bypassed by anyone with even a tiny streak of intelligence. And I really don't know of any reason why swears in M rated games should be filtered, while suggestion to suicide should not. BHVR had a ton of swearing on recent stream where they presented the new killer. Why censor swearing in game while having it in their own promotional video?

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2238747#Comment_2238747

On the other hand, a filter that mostly censors things it should, but then also censors some things it shouldn't and doesn't censor some things it should, definitely works, just not perfectly.

The filter that mostly censors things it shouldn't and occasionally filters things it should is a filter that doesn't work in my definition.

  • @Orion said:

Why not improve the filters if they don't work perfectly?

Emphasis on "perfectly", because the filters do work, just not perfectly, like literally everything else ever made.

I guess that depends on your definition of "work". A broken clock "works" twice a day.

  • @Swampoffering said:

How to decrease the amount of tunnelers and campers? It is really easy, just 2 points and its fine.

1 - Nerf Genrush, add new mechanics to slowdown the game, make an early Game protection, punish repairing if killer is not in chase, add Tanatophohia as a base mechanic.... There are some examples but the main idea is - Nerf gen speed, it is ridiculous. If Genrush is not a problem, I can play without the "Taking One survivor out of the Game faster" mindset and I dont Need to tunnel someone.

2 - Mark premades in lobbies, If survivors have the power to make me play as killer the map they want and the way they want, I should be able to avoid them if I know they are premade. Even bad SWF can destroy you, with discord and having a minimal aknowledge of the game, they Will rush killers and Killers must tunnel and camp.

See? Easy way to fix this problem

" If Genrush is not a problem, I can play without the "Taking One survivor out of the Game faster" mindset and I dont Need to tunnel someone." - you don't, but others will. I've seen plenty of people who camp and tunnel right from the start. Some even continue doing after a DC.

Camping will be even more effective with slower gen speeds.

  • @sesawyer3127 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2188607#Comment_2188607

I don't see the situations that really call for tunneling and camping? You would prob say "well if nearing the EGC you only have one kill than you have to camp",,, um no, I will tell you what other killers mains have told me for a while now when I play bad/make bad decisions about something and that is "git guud". If the killer was a better player and pressured the gens/survivors better he would not have to camp or tunnel now would he? And not everything is a SWF moment either. I am sincerely asking why this ideology doesn't work both ways?

Every player makes decisions while playing and sometimes those do not pan out. I just don't see the need to fall back onto lazy game play such as camping when you could have played better beforehand. I have seen it work both ways many times with regard to other survivors trying to rescue that one on the hook however, most of the time they just leave so the killer gets 1k.

Finally, what is up with Bubba's,,, why does every single one without fail camp and tunnel? This is not an exaggeration or over-simplification, they ALL do it, why?

While I agree with most of what you said, this part feels wrong:

"I will tell you what other killers mains have told me for a while now when I play bad/make bad decisions about something and that is "git guud"."

The reason is matchmaking... We all know that it's often broken. Are you really going to tell green rank killer that it's his fault that red rank survivors outplayed him? Or is it matchmaking fault? Do you think people shouldn't have fun until they spend hundreds of hours to git gud? I will disagree with that as long as we don't have SBMM turned on.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

it isn't a good idea but the best way to decrease tunnelers and campers is to give unhooked survivors 3 seconds of invincibility that doesn't tick down when being chased or within 16 meters of the killer

you'd see so many killers stop bothering to chase the unhooked survivor or camp. the only outliers are spirit with speed addons and nurse who would camp from 17 meters and observe where the survivor moves while they wait out the 3 seconds. the counterplay is to move into the 16 meter range as a survivor within 3 seconds since the survivor is invincible.

Or DS base kit. Practically same thing. I'd never suggest it for former DS. But nerfed DS is fine.

The fact that you've insulted both me and others sort of gives me a bad impression.

I do think you should consider listening to people who have more time played than you, as that generally indicates you can learn something from them. It's what I did when I was new to the game and I turned out alright.

The fact that you accused me of insulting you without providing any proof of insults is insulting and give bad impression about you. And the fact that you continue making logical fallacies makes me want to ignore you. But then perhaps you feel entitles to not being ignored and may find it insulting? I don't know. Some people are more forward than others, but I've tried my best to be patient and understand with you, as I know people have different experiences. I've explained my views and given examples. Unfortunately, you've responded by attacking others and insulting me.

If you "dgaf about our opinions" as you said, you wouldn't reply. And yet, you continue to do so, indicating some sort of investment in the conversation.

I insulted you by telling you that I don't care about your opinion? But that's a fact. What is insulting about it? Why do you feel entitled to everyone caring about your opinion. And you are being rude right now. You are implying that I'm lying not caring about your opinion by mere fact that I'm participating in a conversation with you. Do you know that it is very rude? I merely participate for entertainment aspects of it and I truly do not care about your opinion. As you see, I'm incredibly patient with you despite your behaviour.

I am not sure why you are so hostile with anyone who disagrees with you.

I didn't say that because I BELIEVE you said that I should listen to you because you have more hours. I said it IN CASE you think I should listen to you or anyone else who has more hours. See, there is a fine difference.
