I joined this game in early 2020. I fell in love with it, such a fun game as a solo person and I was able to escape half or less than half the time. It was super fun. The fun is gone now. The only fun I can actually play as is when I choose the killer role, but that should not be my only option. If you want to actually grow your player base, casual solo players need to stand a chance... After 6.1 you basically killed solo players chances to escape and it makes me not even want to contribute money to your game to make it to succeed. I used to watch so many solo queue survivors on Twitch, and they are so few and far between now, you are almost killing your game. I like playing killer but without survivors who actually want to have fun to play, your game is dead. Do something.
BHVR, probably: here is your new $10 skin. Enjoy!
-
BHVR allows it, players use it. You are asking people to nerf themselves and that never works realistically
-
Here is how to play solo q:
- Forget about escaping.
- Don't do gens.
- Loop and taunt killer.
- Die.
- Your MMR goes down.
Variation:
If killer camping, suicide. That way you join fun much sooner and your mmr goes down sooner too.
If killer camping, but not you, farm, so boring match ends sooner.
-
Survivor q is instant. What are you guys complaining about? Just join another match. It's that simple.
I will KMS if I don't enjoy match and join another one in a minute. Why should I waste my limited time? If devs don't care about solo q experience, why should I? Unlike them, I don't get paid for it.

I sure am playing significantly less. Solo survivor is misery and killer is long queue followed by easy stomp.

if you do a thing like this you'll still loose regardless how things will go... you can't do a 3 gen strat if all 4 survivors are still alive, and if you chase one of them in the beginning they can easily split the map in 2 by simply doing the gen at the center of the map, without mentioning that in certain maps is literally impossible to do this tactic (ormond and mother's dwelling are valid examples). those perks works marvelously aganist bad survivors, while good survivors will simply push through without much troubles
Just to be clear, we are talking about Blight and solos here. Of course you need all your meta against coordinated SWF. So, let's take your example of Ormond. While difficult, not impossible to plan 3 gen from the start. I usually ignore shack gen, unless it spawns outside of shack. And the one in the corner opposite of shack, unless it spawns 2 gens not far from each other. If there are 2 in that area, than entire top side, the one with the plow, can be defended well.
And the center needs to be defended most importantly. And with a lot of straight corridors in main building, it's not that difficult with Blight.
I'll follow into the area outside of my defense only if I know I can get survivor in unsafe area. If he gets to a loop, I drop chase. Solos don't know when I drop chase, so it's often unexpected when I come back.
If you just want simplicity, the easiest 3 gen on Ormond is the line starting from center gen, then the plow gen, then the one in the corner after plow.

There are literally streamers with 500 escape streaks out there. Your example does not prove anything at all.
It's the opposite actually. Your example adds even more proof to my example. I said that if people can stomp, they will continue stomping. Rarely anyone ever nerfs themselves just because they already have easy wins.
-
Welcome to the new reality. I stopped playing solo entirely for the exact same reason and now stomping everyone as killer.
-
"once killers figure it out most will cut back on full slow builds" - lol, that's not how it works. Just search youtube for "dbd 50 win streak" to understand that people will continue stomping if they are allowed to stomp. Next up: a barrage of videos "dbd 100 win streak"
Edit: or even better, tell me how it's a balanced game with fair matchmaking that allows 136 wins streak?

"BHVR already said that they will do it soon"
Well, that should be interesting, and, pick one of:
- Fun
- Useful
- Degrading to the SoloQ player getting bossed by overly-intense SWF'ers
I was mostly joking on choice #3. I'm on soloQ when I play survivor and look forward to having a tool to interact with other queued survivors when not invited to their comms (which is 99.999% of the time).
It's not like anyone will give your orders. It's most likely going to be limited to status effects like "Working on gen", "in chase", etc. This is not nearly enough of a buff, IMHO. So, I think it's just going to be option 2.

@Hoodied said:
How the hell did you win with placebo tablet
Solos + 3 gen planned from the start. Also, that 15% lower speed comes with 15% sharper curves and survivors just don't expect that.

But then you have your iri hatchet to cut the chase short >:)
Unfortunately, with the recent forced prestige changes, this build is no longer sustainable. The good old time of infinite level 50 webs are gone. I went through 17 lower level bloodwebs yesterday and got only 1 iri level addon (did I? maybe not even that). RIP.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
Spirit Fury + Enduring with both iri's. Nobody expects the Huntress to just eat pallets. If you need pressure, just hatchet 'em once or twice and you're good to go.
Yes, that's a fun build on any killer, not just huntress. But sometimes, if you are against 4 stack SWF, they will start pre-dropping every single pallet after the first Spirit Fury break and then you end up with 2 wasted perk slots. I had that and it was sad :(

@Sludge said:
Dear Blight and Nurse mains: Go as hard as you can, so you can be balanced accordingly.
The problem with current gen regression meta and high mobility killers is mostly lack of information in solo q. There is no balancing it without giving solos some communication tools and BHVR already said that they will do it soon(tm).

@fulltonon said:
There is no way to tell if they are solo ow SWF.
I feel like on PC there is a way. Perhaps not on other platforms. Players appear in lobby sequentially when solos, but swf appear all practically simultaneously. You can also check their profile if they are on Steam. Another hint is if they are wildly different in prestige: for example one could have no prestige, while another one is 10. SWF are usually similar in prestige level in my experience.
Of course, none of that is fool proof, but more like gambling. You make your best bet if they are SWF or not.

Discordance and Lethal Pursuer are meta depending on the Killer.
Discordance on Killers without good Aura-reading Add-Ons, and Lethal for the Killers with.
For slowdown, probably passive ones, Jolt, PR, maybe even Deadlock
Yes, Discordance is great on Stealth killers.

at this point i wonder what's the killer meta, you know? everything that could be useful was heavily nerfed and honestly i don't consider CoB and Overcharge meta for the simple fact that if people are able to hit great skillchecks those 2 perks are essentially useless
Yes, CoB and Overcharge are meta. They are not useless if you are defending an area by planning your 3 gen from the start. Survivors know how quickly those gens lose progress, so they will often risk touching those gens even when not safe. And matches where all 4 survivors can hit great skill checks all the time are very rare. It's very funny when they try to stop regression by quick tap and have it blow in their face 😂
Also, Eruption and Pain Resonance.
Just had second match with same build and same result. Come on, just give this meme build a try and I promise you will have a lot of fun with it and will gain a lot of BP😀

Unless you are in a SWF, you are not part of a team. You are in a game with other players who may or may not help you. That is a key feature of DBD and has been a design decision since day 1. Stop thinking you are obligated to rescue a "teammate" in a game that has no metric of success for altruism in terms of matchmaking
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QIO4A7ZTS0FR/screenshot-2022-07-27-155419.png
Two, you can extrapolate your argument to literally any other multiplayer video game. A team can easily get you into situations you as an individual cannot extract yourself from, no matter what the method of gameplay is (holding M1, scoring a kill, etc)
Going down in 10 seconds is about the only way camping is going to work for a 3-4k barring some extreme misplays. Countering it is as easy as looping the killer long enough your team can attain gen pressure, which is probably less than 40 seconds if you are the first one being chased.
So tough luck you got a bad teammate, but welcome to online video games
Yes, that's why GF example. With Spine Chill nerf, now that no one runs it, it's very easy to expose one before they even know who the killer is and get first down in a few seconds.

Only takes once. Now you know what you're up against. Adapt.
Yes, once 2 people with no comms get exposed at the same time and fall within seconds of each other, the game is over. You know what you are against and can use that knowledge to type salty messages in chat. That's all that knowledge is good for in solo q. Adapt, by queuing for next match 😂
-
@RpTheHotrod said:
I dunno about you, but if I see a killer camping a hook, I just do gens. Easy win for survivors (though does suck for the person being camped).
Yes, you do gens when you see killer camping. But that's the thing with GF. You don't see him camping, but he sees you coming for unhook and exposes you.
-
@PaintedDeath said:
It should always be this easy to win using this strategy. Sucks for survivors, plain and simple, but its up to the survivors in the match currently to decide what to do about it. If they can't win, they can't win.
It SHOULD be about pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. You shouldn't expect to, but when it happens boy oh boy is it satisfying.
"It should always be this easy to win" - Why? If it's too easy to win, than you have your balance wrong or lack tools to prevent cheap wins. Winning should be hard earned. If you want easy wins, play single player games on easy mode. Multiplayer should give equal chance to all players.

OK. So you just want easy wins. This forum is overflowing with complaints, but the reality is you win some, you lose some. The developers don't need to cater to you, just try some different builds. It's supposed to present a challenge. Why play if it's going to be near-effortless to get the "W"?
Exactly! Why play if it's near effortless? How much effort is camping? Less than "W" for sure, as that doesn't require pressing any buttons at all 😂
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3094676#Comment_3094676
Why? Think of DBD in realistic terms. Survivors are not provided walkie talkies in the lore, right? In the trial it's every person for themselves...
Being on opposite sides of the map chatting with each other about what the killer is doing, what direction they are heading...totally removes any challenge from the game. The point is "survival", to use what's available and escape in one piece, not beg for an easier experience when you face a challenge.
Think about DBD in realistic terms? Yeah, let me think about a game where a killer can become literally invisible and another one can teleport between locker in realistic terms. My favorite part of realism is being able to heal someone by massaging for 30 seconds after unhooking from a meat hook /s LOL, that was a good one 😂

"Camping for ez kills therefore means skill... right? Illustration of very "skilled" play." you used a stealth killer pick a harder killer to camp with next time.
"Exactly! That's my point. It's stupid easy to camp solo survivors with stealth killer. And it should not be. Yes, it's a waste of time for survivors and again, it should not be. Hence, once again, I'm saying that solo needs ability to share information." your point and post would of stood out more and got more discussion if you didn't use a easy killer to camp with.
"Stealth killers can camp solos for 4k with no effort. Do you believe it's fine that the game allows that cheap "strategy" for wins that frustrate survivors into DC or do you think it needs changes? That's the whole point of the post." camping as a whole needs to change anyone can pick a easy killer and camp people on the hook hell just use bubba but wait make sure to post a image of your DC and kills to let everyone know that it's not right and Bubba needs to change how he camps (even though you know everyone knows Bubba is the best camper).
"The purpose of the post is to prompt discussion: here is what we have -> I don't think it's fair -> it needs to be changes." you used a stealth killer to prove camping with a stealth killer is not fair instead of trying to do it with a harder killer.
You made a thread and about how easy it is to camp with GF (which pretty much everyone knows) at that point it was open for discussion but the result you got wasn't what you wanted, people called you out for using a stealth killer and you don't seem to see the problem with that and how stealth killers are good at camping and why people are saying to do it again with a killer that is hard to camp with.
I'm open to talk about camping and how it needs to change and talk about ideas that might work but using a stealth killer is not the best way to show how bad camping is.
17 people found my thread useful. See upvote counter. Nobody finds any of your complains useful. It's time for you to move on my guy. This is my last reply to you.

I believe the general point isn't whether camping is a valid strategy or not. Or whether it's effective. It's definitely not fun and definitely doesn't involve skill. And the "counters" to it aren't fun nor do they require skill.
I don't know of another game that requires players to "play correctly" for everyone to have a chance of having fun. That's kind of the problem.

Stealth killers can camp solos for 4k with no effort" everyone knows stealth killers can do that. does that sum it up for you all you did was show us what we all know already and not bring any new helpful information that can help with camping, its like me camping with Insidious Bubba then making a post i tried camping with Insidious Bubba it brings no helpful information or anything new that everyone doesn't know about already.
Where as if i did it with the Nemesis and not using Insidious then that would bring new info to the table and show that with Nemesis its easy to camp for the 4k.

We all know that stealth killers can camp well, also bubba, hag, basement trapper, DR nearly everyone knows which killers can camp well and which ones don't, showing you had a match as GF and camped isn't showing anything new that we don't already know and add on top of that survivors DC just because a killer looked at them, killing themselves on hook because they don't like how the killer beat them and got them on hook.
Showing a game where you played a killer that can't camp well but you were still able to get the same results would mean a LOT more then showing a game with a killer that can camp easy that just shows nothing new apart from survivors DC and screwing over the rest of the team.
What makes you think I wanted to show something new? Not sure why you are stuck searching for novelty factor.
The purpose of the post is to prompt discussion: here is what we have -> I don't think it's fair -> it needs to be changes.

Try and get the same results not using a stealth killer or Insidious that's the point you will find it a lot harder then if you were using one of the other 2 options.
The post is about GF specifically. It's right in the title. It has nothing to do with other killers.
It's like I would be saying it's easy to camp with chainsaw killers and you would be telling me to try the same without chainsaw.
Or I would be showing you experiment showing that sugar is bad for your teeth and you would be telling me to try same experiment without sugar. It just makes no sense.
-
@ausanimal said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/337483/i-tried-camping-as-gf
Now do the same thing again but not using a stealth killer to hide your terror radius or equipping Insidious then people might take your post more serious, camping in the basement using any of those two things is going to be easy even more if your facing all solo players. I can bet the results will be different as survivors will hear your terror radius and not come down, putting a post up about camping while using any of those two is not the best example when try to get a change all you did was show us all what we know already that stealth killers can camp well.
But that is exactly what I was trying to illustrate. Stealth killers can camp solos for 4k with no effort. Do you believe it's fine that the game allows that cheap "strategy" for wins that frustrate survivors into DC or do you think it needs changes? That's the whole point of the post.

They went down next to basement and got punished for it. What's the issue here?
Your first hook being a basement hook is pure RNG without perks. And the survivors allowed it, especially since you are an M1 killer and all the pallets would have been readily available
I already explained what the issue is in original post at the top:
"Now the question is: will BHVR give solos basic communication tools and make it into more fair and enjoyable game or will it be always that easy to camp a win in this hockey game?"
If you don't see an issue with being able to easily camp a 4k, I don't know what to tell you.
-
@Mooks said:
What does this even have to do with the hockey meme?
you camped. You won and the soloq survs didn’t like it. Not a big deal. There is also swf teams (new players, casual players etc) that could end like that. One here even had Kindred, sometimes not even all the info they need will help. And especially with GF in basement you can camp without the one being camped being aware..
I'll explain you hockey meme: kills = skill.
Camping for ez kills therefore means skill... right? Illustration of very "skilled" play.
Basic communication would prevent 2 people running to basement at the same time and both getting exposed. Just a basic status effect "I'm going for unhook", "I'm doing gen", "killer is camping" would prevent a lot of situations like this.

I mean not for nothin, you got some mediocre survivors there, one of them has green perks and there are questionable choices. Also I'll say it again, if slowdown legion is a problem now he was. A problem last patch. There's 2 percent buff on thana and everyone acting like "omg this patch slowdown". Matches on average are not taking too long at all. You just had a really good game with your legion build.
This isn't news. It's one of the many ways a game can play out given certain maps perks and skill levels.
You are completely ignoring sooooo many factors. Let's combine everything
- Thana buffed
- Eruption buffed and is brutal is solo
- Overcharge buffed
- BBQ nerfed, so can replace with Call of Brian
- Legion mobility allows to quickly apply Eruption, Overcharge and CofB to multiple gens.
- Legion doesn't need to waste perk slots on tracking perks, since tracking is build in after first hit. So it can all be slowdown
-
@Brokenbones said:
This isn't even the worst it could be tbh
Thana + Pentimento + Dying Light and maybe Call of Brine or a hex totem that survivors will want to get rid of
And before you call dying light horrible, let me just show you some quick math:
If everyone is injured, thana slows gens by 22% so that's 115.38s for 1 gen solo (90/0.78
Now, let's assume you've got 3 non obsession hooks, that's 9%. (90/0.69) = 130 seconds.
Throw in pentimento? Why not. (90/0.39) = For a grand total of 230 seconds for a solo surv on a gen
Now granted, this wouldn't all happen at once since getting Pentimento to work for you is harder than thana/dying light but think about it
If circumstances allow, you can almost triple generator repair time.
Dying light is not bad. But Pentimento without Plaything is completely useless, but even that is hit and miss since survivors can just ignore Plaything. Survivors that bring COH don't do totems without a good reason. And nobody sane does totems when pressured hard.
Eruption is much stronger. 25 seconds not doing anything is equivalent to 90 / 25 * 100 = 36% of gen progress. And if you have 2 people scream at the same time, that's 72% of gen progress. Since one is always in chase or hooked, the most you can get with Eruption is 108% of progress worth in terms of time.
Also, because 1 kick applies all 3 slowdown perks at once, it's very efficient. Plus, I use frenzy not only for hits, but also for getting to gens faster, so even more time saving.
So, I believe my build is the best for Legion slowdown. It might be different for other killers.

He has another video to where he tries to explain how to counter legion. The reality is, a good legion is a patient legion, and no amount of pallet camping is going to get you away from his hits.
Ohh, I see why he is confused about it. He is concentrating on Thana. He is also comparing to Plague. That would be valid before the patch. But with Ruin ruined and POP useless, the new slowdown meta of kicking gens, high mobility became much more important. This is something Legion has and Plague doesn't.

So one of the maps that people say is more balanced. I'm not completely sure what would qualify for the most sweatiest stuff but I don't think bringing flashlights, empathy, calm spirit, 3 boons on 1 character, and bringing a brown medkit and a yellow medkit with 1 extra heal is that sweaty.
If I remember correctly bnp is bugged but if it wasn't It would make a difference due to bnp not being affected by thanataphobia.
Ohh, I didn't say they had sweaty builds. They are just your average builds. I can't even think of what is sweaty now with IW and DH gone. It feels like all the sweaty stuff was taken away from survivors.
BNPs wouldn't help much, because I had Frank's Mix Tape and was kicking gens right after applying deep wound, so they would have to watch it regress while mending. And then, when first person goes down, they would have to stay incapacitated for 25 seconds and watch me kicking it again.
It's really super frustrating for survivors build. I was on receiving end yesterday and we just couldn't progress. My gen was at 90%, I was chased away and by the time I unhooked 1, healed 2 and came back it was at 0%. I just couldn't believe it. I've never seen such quick regression before.
